Is God's Sacrifice good enough for you?

The Blood Of Bulls And Goats.

Hebrews 9:27.  "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgement"

Why did God command Israel to offer blood sacrifices during the Old-Covenant era?  After all, God Himself tells us that "it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins," so it's evident  that God didn't institute them for redemption.

He tells us a little more when He says, "Therefore  it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these."  The "copies" referred to are the altar, the mercy seat, the priests, and the people themselves.  But Christ Himself rose after His atoning death into heaven itself - to present Himself for the purification, not of copies, but of the everlasting mercy seat at the foot of the heavenly throne of God His Father.  And it is there that you and I, though sinners, will be presented to the Father by our Savior.

Our presence there would pollute the Throne of God except for His Sacrifice.  The Old-Covenant sacrifices were mere pictures of the great and everlastingly effective Sacrifice, the One promised long beforehand to Abraham (Gen. 12:3), Isaac (Gen. 26:4), and Jacob (Gen. 28:4).

It's that one blessed Sacrifice that we are to remember each time we partake of the Lord's Supper.  The Supper, in fact, was given specifically to remind us of what He has done for us (Luke 22:19).  Oh may we, not only on such occasions, but daily be reminded of Him Who gave Himself for us, "the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God (1 Pet. 3:18).  All that we may do or think during our day today is purified by that one great Sacrifice!

Because He Lives
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by William J. Gaither
copyright 1971

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
Matthew 28:6

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

Hi everyone.

Just back from coffee, only 5 of us there this morning.  Pat is at the elementary school this morning and our daughter has started her new job so I have the house to myself for a few hours.  I am expecting the appliance people to come by and see why our ice maker in the door won't dispense the ice.  We replaced the board that controls it once and it appears to be the same problem again.  At least the board is guaranteed to life but still have to pay for the service call.

Al, that was a very informative devotional.  Jesus paid the price for us.

The rain is suppose to start here around noon and we are suppose to have some heavy rain this afternoon and evening.

Guess I better get back to some computer work for our church website.  I am also in the process of organizing my first cousin's reunion.  Yesterday I was reminded of a first cousin that I had completely forgotten.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Etta Sue

Ivalou and I got home last evening at 7:15 p.m.  I am sure happy to be in my small world of no traffic, no noise and open spaces.  We scrambled for 12 days and now it is time to amble.

I hurried through NEM's so would someone be so kind to put in the link again for the Weather thingy?

Euchere this afternoon and Small Groups tonight.  Tomorrow the plumber is coming.  Thank God, because Kitty had to run the sump pump while I was gone and I had to run it today because the water softener regenerated.  Still have water in my basement.  Hopefully all will be fixed soon!!

God Bless You All.  Oh, yes, Papa John!!  I am so happy to read of Cornelia's continuing improvement.  And I met Norm on St. Patrick's Day.  Dot is a jewel.  Norm....well, he is a great man!!  Certainly glad I met both of them.

Ali missed me while I was gone.  She wants to be petted constantly!!!

 :coffee: Mornin' all! Great choice Al. That story is all that's keeping us from Hell. Thank you Jesus for your love, love enough to step down from your throne. Love enough to come here, and be reviled, cursed, falsely accused, beaten, and murderd...FOR ME. :'(

I love you Lord!

Marilyn

Good Morning, Thanks Al for the devotional his morning.

Papa John Glad to hear that Cornelia is continuing to improve.

Etta Sue glad you are back home all safe and sound.

My client Joanne (that Pastor's wife) is back in the hospital as of yesterday. Don't know what is going to happen with her yet.

I took out the weather thing and put in another website in it's place.

Great to hear that you all like my  new picture, it was taken on my birthday last month so it is recent.

The services yesterday were just great. They sang some of the old songs and some off their tapes, Blue Grass and Southern Gospel. The message was excellent.

It is raining again here although lightly.

My plans for today: Go to Fay's, Try to get Happy's bath appointment changed from Saturday to today, he smells terrible, something is stuck on his fur under his tail and I can't get it off. First this morning I will go to my Tai Chi class.

Good Morning.

Papa John, how nice to hear of the improvements Cornielia is making.

Janet, I know of a few people that have had handicapped accessible vehilcles and all have said that they didn't know how they had managed without it.

I have a productive and semi-enjoyable weekend.  I woke up this morning in better humour than I had been.  I must go and continue to stay productive and get a few things done.

Pat

Hello Everyone!

Hi Melody...

We'll have to get you a temperature thingy to see what it's like down there near the ocean.

I edited your post above to remove the "code" tags so it was easier to read.

Okay, trying this again.........my computer froze up, couldn't find the curser, had to reboot; so of course lost my post.  >:(

We are having SNOW, LOVELY SNOW here today!!!  The roads are really sloppy out there, but I'm not going to complain, after wanting and praying for moisture for so long!  We have about 12 inches (my guess) on the ground, and a lot has melted because of the ground being so warm already.  And it's a really WET snow, too, so we mave much for which to praise God today!  :) :)

The boys and I went swimming this morning and we stayed until they said they were ready to come home!  So they were really hungry by then!  I was going to go back to town to get our car tags and register the new van, but have decided to take a snow day, like all the schools in the area, and let that little job wait a while.  Nice that it doesn't have to get done today.

WELCOME HOME, ETTA SUE!!!  WE MISSED YOU!!!  And I agree, ambling is more enjoyable than scrambling!!  Come on over and we will have a cup of hot tea or chocolate while the snow melts!

Liz, I sure liked the story about the pot-bellied stove!  We do try to complicate things at times, don't we? :lol:

Papa John, it is wonderful to read of Cornelia's continued improvement, and your Scripture references were, as usual, right on target!

Sue, I think the van is going to be such a help in getting Beth around to where she needs to go.  Seems a shame to spend so much money for it, but it is necessary.  Have a good and productive week!

Ruthie, praying about your "ticker."  Good to see you posting often.

It's fun to see what the weather is doing in many places.  Let's all go visit Ritz, shall we?  ^-^ ;)

I'd better hit POST before I lose this again!

Pat, get your SN bus going, and you can pick us all up and we'll visit Ritz.  :)

Ruthie, I pray you'll find out what's going on with your heart and get some peace about that soon.

Papa John, Melody, Etta Sue, Sue, Marilyn, Ritz, Larry, Al.........who did I miss?  Hello to everyone. :)

Pat, I added a caption.  That's the cutest picture.

Anyone else notice the time off on their temp thingees?  I switched to see if if helped.  It really doesn't matter, but I want things to be accurate. haha  It's about 16-20 minutes off. :-\

I tried to find the sticky that the rest of you are using, but couldn't see it.

Pat

Nita, I changed your little weather thingy to what the most of us have.  It's at the very bottom of their list and is simply called "Small"

Oh, my.........another lazy day for me!  I'd better watch out, I could get used to this.  :-[  I cannot remember the last time I had so many lazy days in a row. :cool:

I have been trying to think of something to do that the boys would enjoy, keep asking them, but they seem content to just veg out, too.  Well, it is their vacation, after all, so I guess that's okay.

I am going to church again tonight. I went to WM's this afternoon , we are putting together Easter Baskets for the children of McKinleyville who do not  get them. Needy families. So far  today we did about 100 baskets. We put in stuffed animals toys, a Chocolate Rabbit and two eggs filled with candy, some have books, color books, crayons or big cars or trucks for the boys. I think we are going to do 300.

Hello all:

It was back to work after a whole week off my that was a wonderful feeling.   I went shopping this morning to purchase enough yarn to knit a baby's blanket and matching hat.  I have from now until the end of June to get it started and finished.

But now I must  move on to do some of my other computer duties.

Sue: Glad that you are much happier today.

Nita, what a great idea for Pat to get out that old SN bus!  The chickens must have really messed it up by now, but I'm sure she can manage to get it cleaned out. Now, if she picks me up first, I can navigate for everyone else, OK?   :lol:

Uuhhhh JEANNE I seem to remember your navigation skills leave something to be desired!   :lol:  I agree that Pat should get that yellow bus on the road again ... What a time we'll have barging in on Ritz  :D S'pose he's up for company?

I don't need a weather thingy cuz Nita and I live in the same town. Now that's a good thing.  ;)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Liz

Thanks for the nice devotional, Al.  Also to Pat, who played 'elf' and put my weather thing-a-ma-jig in place.  Kind of interesting seeing how everyone is doing in the weather dept.

Had a busy day.  Wendy was not well, so cooked a large pot of chicken soup for her, made biscuits, made a steak dinner for SIL and Amanda.  Took care of the cat's food.....glad to have a rest now.  Squeek is going nuts over a cat spa toy that is filled with catnip.  She loves the stuff.  Misty is totally indifferent.

Must go now.  Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.
