Some News We Should Know About...

From our forums...

Morning Devotional...

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified.
2 Thessalonians 3:1

The apostle and those with him were concerned.

The Word of God is living and powerful, but it does not always have free course. Sometimes those who preach it water it down, omit parts, add to it, or alter the meaning.

Sometimes they are silent when they should speak, and the Word is bottled up.

Are we as concerned about it as the early Christians were?

Do we speak about the Scriptures to others, or stifle them? Out of the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.

Let us take in the Word, and give it out to others, too!
--Carl Knott

Lord, speak to me, that I may speak
in living echoes of Thy tone;
As Thou hast sought, so let me seek
Thy erring children lost and lone.

Here I am showing up late again.  10:50 my time.
Have had a busy day, and feeling tired right now.  I am making an angel costume for our church's Easter drama/musical.  Working on all white fabric, two layers of it, a white broadcloth underneath, and a shiny white nylon fabric on top.
I hope to finish it tomorrow or for sure by Wednesday.  They are having a dress rehearsal on Wednesday night so I must be finished by then.

Soni, I believe you asked recently what is AARP 55/Alive?  It is a refresher course in driving for us seniors, sponsored by AARP.  We renew it every 3 years, and as Larry has said, you get a small discount off your insurance.  Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it – you have a 4 hour class for 2 days!  That is very hard for me to handle.  Especially when the instructor this time was a woman who does not have a lot of volume to her voice.  I have been hearing impaired all my life (deaf in right ear, and hearing aid in the other).  I have had tinnitus as long as I can remember.  That will drive you crazy if you let it!

Our pastor is preaching on the Seven last words of Christ, as a series leading up to Easter.  I have learned so much from his preaching and teaching.

Must get to bed, I have Bible study tomorrow morning, also OASIS choir after that.  Can't get to the sewing until after lunch.  I hope all of you will have a great day tomorrow (today by the time you read this!)

Love, Janice

Hi Rachelle, I see you online now as well>

GOOD MORNING ALL 11.03AM in Holland (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fchristianphotographers.com%2Fforum%2Fsmi%2Fgoodmorning.gif&hash=0e35a6366e75807f37a37a16ec07bd80f48b5f85)

PAT thank you very much for the devotional this morning it is always good the read in the morning and also for all the links I have read all the  Member Testimonies very good.

JANICE nice to see you but we have a very great time difference. You write it was 10.50 PM then it is in Holland 7.00AM. You are going to bed and we must wake up.

JANE i am happy to read that you are come home safely i think you have had a lovely time.

RUTH ANN i am sorry to read that you have battle dizziness i pray for you dear Ruth ANN.

It is still very strange that my husband the hole day is home. Others the computer was always for me. But now sometimes he also is going on the computer he is playing pool on the computer. But now he is to the postoffice and i also love it to be a time alone.

Yesterday i have been a time to the nursing home but yesterday two people are dying and the woman they always must hear Psalm 23 was angry
no reading. Yes that can also happen with people who are demented. But the nursus say to me sometimes they have a good day and then they will going home.
But that can no more. That was also what this lady say
now i will go home. It is sad when you are being demented.

1 Kings 19 : 11-12
But the Lord was not in the wind...not
in the eartquake ... not in the fire.
And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

 QUIET MY HEART
Help me to step back, Lord,
from the noise of the crowd,
 the tumult af life's problems,
the glamor and confusion of the world...
           Quiet my heart
that i may hear Your whisper.

LOVE and PRAYERFULLY FOR YOU ALL

Ria, I seldom get to respond to your posts, but I read them every day. Yes, dementia is really a sad condition. God will richly reward you for your nursing home visits. And, I personally thank you for those of us who cannot go because of time restrictions.

Y'all have a good day.

Hi, Everyone.

I know that I need to be much more sensitive to the opportunities that the Spirit opens to me to speak His Truth.  There are a lot of people who are looking for a bit of truth.

Hope you all have a good day in whatever God has planned for you today.

His Truth is Light.

Thanks for the words of truth, Pat.

Hi Pat!  I am so glad that you sent the message to my e-mail as I have been unable to find CP in Google and other search.  We have a new laptop and I now have this again under favorites.  It is good to see that all is going well here.  We have enjoyed much Christian fellowship with a few relatives and some new friends during these two months away from home.  Carol

Good morning to Carol (so nice to see you here again!) Kathy, Ruth Ann, Ria, Janice, Rachelle and Pat!

I do NOT like skipping my swimming, but my arm is a little better, so guess I will wait a few more days to swim.  Maybe I will go out for a good walk later instead.

We are very concerned about my first husband, the father of my kids.  He is in the hospital, has had thyroid surgery and is suffering fromn congestive heart failure.  I hope we get some word today, and that he is much better.

The sun is shining brightly today, promising another nice warm day.  Welcome, Spring!

Thank you, Chris, for sharing your love story.  Yes, God had his hand in that.  Maybe He invented the wide world on the web!!

Karma ~ I didn't feel valuable until I finally realized that God created me to love me and for me to love him.  He chose me to be in His family.

Sarah ~ Do I 'ever feel this way'?  I wish everyone felt this way.  The simple life is so much better than the hustle bustling life.  Stop and smell the roses.  That's what I like about retirement.

Jane ~ I am so happy you had a wonderful weekend and trip...meeting new friends, old friends and loving family.  You must be filled to the nth!

Carol ~ Hi there!  Welcome back!  I have missed your posts!  Glad you found us again!!

Ivalou called last evening and invited me over for lunch today.  It seems she fixed too much food for a pitch-in at the Lion's Club meeting.  Then this evening, Jerry and I are going to a meeting at church.  It is bright and sunny today...that always makes one feel good.  It is only 39° but it is suppose to get to 52°.  That is good.

Post by: Larry Hanna on March 23, 2004, 10:33:46 AM
Hi everyone.  I wanted to get here much earlier than I did the last couple of days, although have another busy day today.  I have walked at the "Y", had coffee with my retired friends at the local cafe and been to the grocery store.  This afternoon I have a phyiscal scheduled and then have to stop at another grocery store for more shopping.  It seems the cupboards were getting bare.

Jane, I am happy for you that you had such a fine trip and were able to see the four members of your family.  I take it that you went to highschool in Marin county.  I was priviledged to attend a meeting in Marin County about 3 years ago and my that is beautiful country.

Ria, always good to see your postings.  You and your husband will have to work out what is best for you.  My wife and I have separate computers in separate rooms.  We are within speaking distance of each other but not on top of each other.  She can listen to her books on tape and I can listen to music without disturbing the other.  You are on the right track with your volunteering in the nursing home and hopefully he will find some volunteer work or activities that give him a reason to get out of the house.  That is one reason I go to coffee six days a week as it gets me out of the house.  I always have projects to do on the computer so never run out of things to stay as busy as I want to be.

Karma, I certainly hope that Zachery hasn't been hurt if response to his quizes and questions have not met what he would have desired.  I know that I am guilty of being so busy that I don't ever get back to trying to respond, such as his request for some art or the Bible quizes.  The thing we quickly learn on discussion boards like this is that we can't predict what others will or will not do.  I think we all have developed a special place in our hearts for him and the other young people who participate here.

Carol, glad you found your way back to CP and do hope you are enjoying that new laptop.

Janet, sure hope your arm continues to improve and you can return to swimming soon as I can tell that is very important to you.  I also will pray for your first husband that his health improve.  I know you had said earlier that he was quite ill.

kwestt, glad to see you posting and what you said can apply to probably all of us.

Rachelle, we will be looking forward to seeing some nifty photos from that new camera if you buy it.

Hi to Pat, Ruth Ann, Janice and everyone who posted yesterday and will post here later today.

Larry~thanks for your concern about Zachery.  He has found another Christian site that he post on for kids his age.  He is enjoying it.  He say's hi to everyone here.

Thank you, Janice for explaining that for me.  I think it is a great idea, but I do agree they need to be louder.  I have a problem with my hearing, but it is the other way.  I hear to much and when in busy places with alot of talking it hurts my ears and I can't listen to one person without hearing everyone elses conversations.

Hi Ria!  My favorite Hollander.  ;D  Is it starting to warm up there?  You always have the best poems.

Good day to everyone else, Kim, Rachelle, Pat, Papa John Etta Sue, and Janet.

PAT~ that is a beautiful poem.  I learned that several of the flowers from my bouquet are now gone--people my own age that I knew in high school.  It was also good to reunite with several that remember me (although a lot of the girls remembered me as "Bob's sister").

LARRY~I lived in Marin County from 6th grade on, until I moved to Sacramento area in 1961.  Attended, and graduated from, Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California.  It really is beautiful country although not the same as when I was there!  Soooo many houses and businesses have "grown" there.  I know that's progress, but I remember roaming the hills and riding my bike along the road ... can't do that any more.   :-\

Thanks, everyone, for the welcome home!

Hey, Zachery! I am happy you found a teen site, but please don't leave all us gramas and grampas here who love you!  We still want to read your cheery posts, you know!  (((((hugs))))))

Diane said she called her Dad and that he is doing pretty well, may come home on Thursday.  He is in the Clayton, New Mexico hospital.

It is a little windy, but I think I will go out and walk a couple of miles anyway.  I get to feeling rotten and not worth much, if I don't get some exercise!

Larry, thanks for your kind words today.  I sure appreciate you!

Later, folks!  :D

Well, I have car problems!  Just what I need with all my trips to London.

Since I fell last week I hadn't been out in my car so yesterday, I thought I'd try to see if I could get my crazy leg to work.

The car wouldn't start!  Dead!

So, I called CAA and they came and boosted me and I let it run about 20 minutes before I went to the supermarket and after picking up a few things in there, I came out, started the car and came home.  Today, it's dead!

So, not sure what it is but not sure either what I can do about it.  I've got a call in for Andrew to come and have a look and hopefully he'll do that later!

Yes, I agree with you Janet!  Zachery, we're happy if you've found another Teen site but don't stop posting here!  We love to see you here and you're a breath of fresh air to CP!

Janet, I'm happy about the news of the kids' Dad.  We sure don't like to hear of anyone with these problems.  Hope you enjoy your walk.  I'm going to go and walk on Jack's treadmill for awhile and see if it makes me feel some better.

Hey, Jane!  I'm glad you enjoyed that poem.  Biscuit on SeniorNet sent that to me and I thought it was lovely so decided to share it with all of my special friends here on CP.  Speaking of SN, Jane, it's been so long since we've heard from Beverly on here.  Maybe you could write her and tell her that we miss her?

Larry, I get tired reading your posts!  :o  You are always so busy!  I'm glad that we get to share you sometimes!

Nice to see Nards drop in and say "Hi!"

Angel, I saw your photos and they are just wonderful!  I hope everyone drops over to the photos area and has a look at them.  You sure are following in your Grandma's footsteps.  You have an eye for the good shots!  If you haven't seen them yet, folks, here's a link:

So, did everyone get their letter?

Hello everyone. ThanksPat for the deovtional and the links. I read them all this morning and talked with Jenny on Im for almost an hour, so I didn't post here before I went to work.

Came home early and Bea's son was taking her shopping today andI finished cleaning her house and came home. It is so hard to clean with  both of them there.

Now I am going to take the dogs out for a walk, one at a time of course.  I had to chase Happydog down again yesterday I found him across the street inthe neighbor's back yard. Good thing I was doing the dishes and saw him run across the street fromt he kitchen window.

Pat are you referring to the email re:  poll. That is the only one I got.

Pat - I'd be willing to bet you'll have to get a new battery.  It obviously isn't holding its charge, and that's a sure sign it's gone.  Of course you could also have a short somewhere, but since you didn't move it, etc. for all that time, it's doubtful that anything changed - just the battery.
Good to see you Paulette - God bless that wedding!  That's the good kind of news.

Hi Pat and Everyone.   I'm on my way to EE with my team.   I have an appointed visit, which means I won't be going door to door.  Quite happy about that.

The song "God will take care of you"   was in my head today.   Pat, I wonder if you have the music.   You know it.   "God will take care of you.   Through every day, or all the way.   He will take care of you.   God will take care of you"     A wonderful song I used to sing at church.   But to know God WILL take care of us.  Wonderful eh!

Will check in after the end of the evening.  God Bless.

Love Ruthie

Al That is something like what I said on MSN today to her.  I wish I were close enough to be able to pick one up for her.  If it isn't done by Friday I will get John to look at it for her, as we are going down to see her.

John has another course to teach. on Saturday, It is a defensive driving course.  Our father drove for the Toronto Transit commision for all of my life till he retired.  I will never forget him being indignant at the thought that he had to take a Defensive Driving Course.  When he came home his attitude totally changed,  He had learned a lot and shared with Mom and I all.  I will never forget one thing he said.  "You know I will never be too old to learn something more about driving."

Pat and I both followed in his footsteps with driving.

We are having a lazy day here as I woke up tired.  Reading can do that to a person!

Well bye for now

Pat, I agree with Al.  Sure sounds like you need a new battery.  I liked the beautiful poem with the flowers and music.

We have had another quiet day here today.  This morning we went to the beach to walk.  It was rather cool so I wore my sweater.  But before I finished I had to come out of it because it warmed up fast.

Tomorrow we are going to St. Petersburg to have lunch with a number of friends on SeniorNet.

Here is some good news:
Rom 3:21-24
21   But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
22   This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,
23   for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24   and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
(NIV)

Hope you all have a good rest tonight.

I am so tired and my knees are hurting. I have been crawling around on the floor pinning and marking out a grid on my quilt. I finished the top today and decided to get it all pinned together . I will take a photo when its is done, won't be long now. This is the cover for the comforter I have been working on for some time now.
That has been my day since I last posted.

I did have to pull Happydog down off the fence again. If I could get and photo of him up there without him jumping down before I took it I would, But I never think of getting the camera, just getting him off the fence

Oh Yeah, yesterday I order the starter kit for my camera; the case, mini tripod another battery and some photo paper. Next month I will order the big tripod, Kodak has them for $24.95 plus shipping. I really think I should get a bigger case that will fit more than just the camera.

My Car...

Well, Andrew came over after work and he boosted my car and it started immediately and I left it to run for about 1/2 hour and then I turned it off and we'll see if it goes in the morning.

What a thing to happen!  It's awful to be stuck here and unable to go to the store!

I feel like singing!  Do you?

Fill Me Now  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/fill-me-now.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Be filled with the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18

Words: Elwood H. Stokes, 1879.

Music: John R. Sweney, 1879

Hover o'er me, Holy Spirit,
Bathe my trembling heart and brow;
Fill me with Thy hallowed presence,
Come, O come and fill me now.

Refrain

Fill me now, fill me now,
Jesus, come and fill me now;
Fill me with Thy hallowed presence,
Come, O come, and fill me now.

Thou canst fill me, gracious Spirit,
Though I cannot tell Thee how;
But I need Thee, greatly need Thee,
Come, O come and fill me now.

Refrain

I am weakness, full of weakness,
At Thy sacred feet I bow;
Blest, divine, eternal Spirit,
Fill with power and fill me now.

Refrain

Cleanse and comfort, bless and save me,
Bathe, O bathe my heart and brow;
Thou art comforting and saving,
Thou at sweetly filling now.

Refrain

We even have a water cooler--somewhere!  HAHAHA!  I think it's over there, Rachel!

Rachel, what part of England were you from before living in Georgia.  One of our Moderators on here lives in Georgia.  He'll maybe be here later on tonight or in the morning.

I love England.  My late husband and I hiked all over England and Wales.

Oh, Marilyn, I'm so glad you are enjoying that.  Isn't the piano accompaniment lovely?  I have it playing in the background here.

I hope that everyone knows that they can program their little music players to play continuously so that you don't have to keep clicking on the title of the song.

Rachel, I think Larry heard me talking about him!  He's online here and I know he'll be happy to see another member from Georgia!

Look who's online right now!

Pat!

That is the first time I have ever heard that song, and it is lovely. The writer of this song is so astute. I think these songs mean as much to me as anything here at CP. Thank you for sharing them with us.

I just got back this evening from seeing the Passion of Christ....I don't have words to describre how I feel. To think He did this all because of MY SIN and wilfullness. When they drove those nails, I could not hold back the tears and I silently wept in public no less! But when they showed the very last scene where He came out of the tomb, I sat there and openly cried. To think that He did all of that for even me, the worst of sinners, and the unspeakable riches of His grace that He showed there in the opening of that tomb....I am speechless. I believe that the word "Awsome" has been so over used in our language that it has lost it's meaning, and I don't want to use this word because of that, but I have no other word for His Majesty, love and grace!

Well, for being speechless, I guess I have said enough eh'

Blessings to all,

The least worthy servant,  Monty

Monty I had that same reaction when I saw the movie, I couldn't even talk about it for quite awhile in fact just today I was able to express to someone how I felt. I wnet with Pastor Al from here at CP an his wife. We live inthe same little town in Northern California.

Pat have you been able to do anything with that photo, as far as making it small enough to fit in my profile?

Hi Monty...I saw The Passion and it had a big impact on me as well.  The lady I was with felt sick to her stomach.  I feel the same as you.  Jesus took on the sin of all the world so that I could have the righteousness of God in my life.   Someone has said Jesus endured all the physical pain, but the fact that His Father forsook Him because God could not look at sin, was the worse hurt.   He said "My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me"

Tonight I went to a home and 2 people accepted Christ.  I'm so glad they did.   They both have eternal life and someday will be in heaven with our wonderful Lord.    Praise Him.

God Bless  Ruthie

Kneel at the Cross  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/kneel-at-the-cross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confesss that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11

by Charles. E. Moody

Kneel at the cross,
Christ will meet you there,
Come while he waits for you;
List to his voice,
Leave with him your care
And begin life a new.

Refrain

Kneel at the cross,
Leave every care
Kneel at the cross,
Jesus will meet you there.

Kneel at the cross,
Give your idols up,
Look unto realms above;
Turn not away
To life's sparkling cup;
Trust only in His love.

Refrain

And Monty, I'm so glad that you're enjoying the hymns we share with each other.

There's another nice one in tomorrow's NEM...
