Morning Devotional...And so we went toward Rome. And from thence, when the brethren heard of us. . . when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage. Acts 28:14-15
To travel a few miles out of Rome to meet Paul was a relatively simple thing to do.
Nonetheless, it did require effort and time on the part of "the brethren." We are assured, however, that their sacrifice was not in vain, for Paul "thanked God, and took courage."
It is possible for each of us to encourage one another in the ways of the Lord, even by simple actions.
What can you do today?

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:1,2

Musician: Henri A.C. Malan, 1787-1864
Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.
Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose.
Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.
Pat.............
What can I do? Wellllll, for starters I can lead a neighbor lady to this site. It's a beginning, huh? Now, since I'm about as old as dirt and can't remember how to dial-up Christian Photographers with the http, can you give it to me and I'll forward it to Karla. I guess a www might do it, but I don't want her to get discouraged by not getting in the first time. Thanks Pat.
Thanks, PAT, for the devotional and song today. I really like that song. We used to sing it a lot in the church where I grew up. I haven't heard it for a few years.
MARILYN~I fully understand your response to the movie "The Passion Of The Christ" There just are no words that can express what is in your heart after such an experience. I have read many, many hundreds of words by folks who have seen it or not, and still none can really say it like it is. That's my response as well ... silent contemplation. And awe. And a deep, deep love for my wonderful Lord and Saviour. I just want to be alone with Him and not say a word ... just love Him. :)
I will be getting my hair all bootiful today (Friday) and then a group of us will be singing at the Nursing Home in the afternoon. This is always a good thing.
See y'all later ... take care. (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.thirdage.com%2FFamily%2Ffren2him%2Fjanequil.gif&hash=1cff0b4fb8fb70b6a3977e0a701fe2038b9eecd6)
Just a quick post before bed. I am getting ready to head to bed, and watch Touched By An Angel before I drop off to sleep.
Tonight was a very good night at work. After a really tough night last night, it was nice to get 5 sales tonight. I have to ask all of you to do me a really big favor. When a telemarketer calls your home, please don't just say your not interested and hang up. Have a listen to what the person has to say. If you are truely not interested, then tell them that you have a friend who is a telemarketer, and as difficult as you understand the job may be, you are just not interested at this time. It is just so frustrating to the person who is just trying to do a job, to get hung up on, before what they have to say is said. I came home in tears last night ecause of all the hang ups.....and I dreamed about people hanging up on me while I slept. Sorry....just a little tidbit from the heart of a telemarketer.....
Anyway, as I said I had a better night tonight at work. Jon and I did some roleplaying last night, and he gave me some really good ideas, that actually worked tonight.
Thank you Aunt Pat for your faithfullness in posting the devotions every night. I know I don't say thank you quite enough, but I don't know that my nights before bed would be quite the same if I was not able to come home and be able to read them. It is a really wonderful way to finish off my days....the stressful ones, and the not so stressful ones.
Love to all, I will try to post before I leave for work tomorrow, however tomorrow promises to be a very busy day. So if you don't hear from me tomorrow, you will certainly hear from me tomorrow night.
Heather
7.50 a.m.U.K.
Thank-you all for being my "Encouragers" and thank you Pat for this devotional., also for the lovely hymn which must be a favourite of mine.
We should always remember to say "thank-you"...be like the 1 grateful leper that returned to thank Jesus for his healing. Nine went on their way and didn't bother...(10 Lepers...Luke 17:11-19)
My little doggie disturbed my rest last night again and I did pop in at 3 a.m....Thanks Marilyn for your reprimand...ha ha, ;D I did go back to bed. Sunday dog is certainly having problems poor old dear.
Ria. Hallo....see you later dear. Hope you slept well ;) ;) ;)
Heather. I know about telemarketing. I sold advertising space on a newspaper when I was younger for a few years. We were Thomson trained..."the cream"....very hard work but the money was amazing. Of course we were continually stressed having to meet targets. I worked with a great crowd of people and my best friend Verna, who married our boss is still in touch, though they do not live in Birmingham but in Winchester now. She and Graham are originally from Yorkshire.and Yorkshire folk are renowned for their warmth.
Enough for now.
See you all later.
TheLord Bless.
Jenny
Hi All...
Well, its time for bed, but just stopped by to say goodnight and good morning to some.
I didn't really have much done to my hair lol pat, it is the same in my picture just thinned out and trimmed.
However my daughter Courtney got a new hair style-from long hair to short.
I wanted to say my 2 cents worth on the Passion of Christ!! We saw this on Monday with our Pastors and I can say that the Lord really showered me with the depth of HIS Love for me!!! You know that He loves you-but until you see this-You really know that HE Loves You and the Depth of that Love for You! And, as I told my Pastor He would of done it just for one of us-That is the depth of His Love. I won't say anymore of what the Lord showed me because there are those that haven't seen it yet. But, I did have to share that part.
Hugs and Good night..
Rachelle

A SONG OF PRAISE
My God, accept my heart this day,
and make it always thine,
that I from thee no more may stray,
no more from thee decline.
2 Before the cross of Him who died
behold, I prostate fall;
Let every sin be crucified,
and Christ be all in all.
3 Anoint me with thy heavenly grace,
and seal me for thine own;
that i may see Thy glorious face,
and worship near thy throne.
4 Let every thought and work and word
to Thee be ever given;
then life shall be thy service ,Lord,
and death the gate of Heaven.
5 All glory to the Fahter be,
all glory to the Son,
all glory, Holy Ghost, to thee,
while endless ages run.

The devotional is inspiring and I will try to be an "encourager" today to all I see. The hymn is one of my favorites.
God's blessings to all today.

Yikes! Your not one of those! :o I shut my phones off because of these folks calling me 15 times a day or more. My family couldn't eat a dinner at the table without a call or 2 from these people. And then if that wasn't enough, If I told them no, they would call me right back and hang up. GRRRRRRR....
Sorry, but if I wanted to buy something, I would go to the store. :D
Okay, Heather, the next time I get a call, I'll pretend it is you. ::) I do try to be nice, and I usually do listen to all of it, unless I am in a hurry. (How do you know we are walking out the door???) I've done some "cold calling" for our website service and my Mary Kay, and it definitely isn't fun. Hang in there. We have caller ID, and telemarketers usually come up as "Unavailable" or some wild number. I don't answer, most of the time.
I like your approach to telemarketing Karma. I think all of us have our patience tried by this. But I am aware, having been in sales in the past, that the salesperson doesn't want to spend useless time with those who will never buy what they're selling. So it's helpful to them when their contact hangs up fairly quickly. Remember that, Heather - you can actually be thankful when someone hangs up quickly - saves time to talk to more interested folks. I'm always coureous to the caller - I say, "Thanks, but no thanks." But I don't waste their time.
We went to see the "Passion" yesterday with Marilyn. I think the most important response I could have would be to take some special time to think the scenes we saw through - to realize anew that He did that for me, and to worship Him and pray for grace to be more His and less my own henceforth. I do see that His physical suffering was beyond words. But I want also to see that His rejection by His Father was even worse than that! And, again, I need to take it personally - I need to dedicate and rededicate my every waking moment to Him Who loved me so!
Hi everyone. Another overcast but warm day here in the south. I went to the gym about 6:15 this morning so I would have my walking done before going to coffee at the senior center at 7:30. We had 14-15 men at the coffee and had a good time visiting.
Heather, I feel for you and don't think I could be successful doing telemarketing. I should think it would be better to have people who are not interested let you know early so that you don't waste your time as your next call could be a sale. We have some opt out lists here in the USA and they have definitely helped reduce the number of calls we are getting. I do hope you have continued success as obviously there is a market or we wouldn't have telemarketers. (Al, I see we have similar thoughts.)
Sonja, so sorry to hear of the death of Mike's brother. That is certainly a young age. Has he had heart problems in the past? I will be praying for Mike and all of his family as this is a tough time for any family.
I don't have a lot on my schedule today so will be able to tackle a few things in a leisurely manner. Hope everyone has a good day.

We're REALLY so very glad to see you!

Soni. I am so sorry for Mark's family and for your dear Mike. I am praying for you all.

I am still very subdued since seeing the movie yesterday. I keep seeing The suffering of my Lord. Even during my prayer time that is all I could think about and wipe away the tears.
I will be going to my chiropractor this morning for an adjustment, then on the Fay's to prepare her dinner and supper.
I have to make a Dr. appt. for the results of my tests and because I have had a couple of dizzy spells turning over in bed this week. I hope that doesn't start again like it was before.
So I must get to the prayer folder and the get myself ready.
TTYL
Oh, Soni! I am so sorry to hear about Mike's brother. I will be prayihg for all of you.
Heather, we are on the nationwide "Do NOT call" list. We had many bad experiences with telemarketers, many were just downright rude. So not having them call is a big relief. But I do wish you success. Maybe if you pray over the list before you start calling, it will help.
Today Beth and I are going to the library to pick up some good Christian books to read while in Texas next week. Darrel is feeling really bad again---seems to be a cold now---and coughing. He was already so sore from the hiccups that coughing really hurts. I surely hope he is feeling a lot better by Sunday, wouldn't want him to start off on a trip like that sick.
The water in the pool was 84* this morning! ;D ;D Boy, did that ever feel good!

Dear Sonja my prayers are for the wife and son
from Mark Mike's brother but also for you and the rest of the family.
RIA
Soni and Mike ~ So sorry to hear of your BIL and brother. It is comforting to know he is walking the streets of gold as I am typing.
Telemarketers? Well, I will say that I am a lot more tolerant than I used to be but I also will not pick up the phone if it is 'unavailable or a strange number'. They can leave a message if they want. I am also on the 'Do Not Call' list and it is rare that I get a telemarketer call. Anyway...is there people that order or pay for items that they do not initiate the call? I would never do that. Send me stuff in the mail. Don't invade my time.
I used to ask them to give me THEIR number so I could call them back when I am not busy. I never got a number to call them back... :o :o
I am ready to leave for the Women's retreat. I need to eat and then wait on Ivalou. It is will be fun. I have been on this retreat with these ladies several times. They are great ladies.

Hello Ria I see you are online. I went to my chiropractor already and came home as it is too early togo to work. I made my Dr. appt. for wednesday afternoon. I donot have an ear infection it is Benign paroximal vertigo. It goes away and there is nothing they can do for it. Whatever it is that balances in the ear for equilibrium , ( a little ball in one of the ear tubes) is stuck and causes the dizziness.

ENCOURAGEMENT OF THE BODY OF CHRIST IS ALSO FAITH IN ACTION. :)
March 5
Pastoral Ministry: Faith Must Be Demonstrated
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so
easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is
set before us.
--Hebrews 12:1
The lesson that comes to us through the many dramatic
illustrations of faith in Hebrews 11 brings us back to my earlier
statement: Faith in God is to be demonstrated, not defined. Just
as God's church demonstrates Christian love, this demonstration
of godly, humble faith is God's ideal for His church.
It is not enough for preachers in their pulpits to try to define
love. The love that God has promised must be demonstrated in the
lives of the believers in the pews. It must be practiced as well
by the man who occupies the pulpit.
We should put the matter of faith in that same category. God
wants His people, including the ministers, to demonstrate all
of the outworking of faith in their daily lives and practices.
Jesus, Author of Our Faith, 8.
"Lord, the pattern set forth in Hebrews 11 seems so
unattainable! Strengthen me by Your Spirit to be able to
demonstrate this type of unshakable faith. Amen."
As to telemarketing, I have been harassed by telemarketers, and will continue to say "I'm sorry I am not interested."
We have had a busy day, John has had blood tests and have taken Mother to a doctor and is having all kinds of blood tests done too. She asked the Doctor if he would keep her and he will. That is an answer to prayers.
John is leaving shortly for Pat's to spend the night. He has training courses to teach in Kitchener.
I am trying to get some de - cluttering done today now that I am home so Cheerio for now
Love JudyB
Pat, thank you for the good devotional this morning. Paul was encouraged when the brethren came out to meet them. When we face difficulties there is nothing like the encouragement we can get from each other. Incidentally, this is the only place in the King James translation of the New Testament the word "courage" is found.
Acts 28:15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage. (KJV)
Sonja, I am so sorry about Mike's brother. So often death comes suddenly. We lost my dad with a heart attack when I was 18 and he was 53. I know the family needs prayers and we in CP will remember them in prayer.
Janet, 84 degrees is good, 88 is better. We are looking forward to our Florida trip which we make a week from tomorrow. I will be able to swim every day in the private pool. It is heated and I control how warm the water is and I like it WARM.
We have had a lot of rain today and it is still raining tonight. We are having flash flood warnings in our county and in neighboring counties.
I hope you all have a good night's sleep and a good day tomorrow.

We had a lovely day here in Guelph too. Certainly not as warm as Janet had...but for Guelph, a temp of 65 deg. hit a record for today.
Papa John: I know you will have a wonderful time in Florida...please do a few laps in the pool for me, okay?
are you driving down yourself? How long a drive would that be.
Once again, Sonja., my deepest sympathy to Mike and the family on the passing of his brother, Mark.
Papajohn I pray that you will remain safe, and that no floods will come near your dwelling.
Janet how is Darrell feeling. I hope he will be well for your trip to texas in a few days. I like what you said on SN about the film not being anti semetic in any way.
Pat you haven't been around much, have you heard anything from Brother Iain.? How is he?
Chris have you called Iain lately?
Margit I got my Buckwheat pillow today and will be sleeping on it tonight. I will let you know how I like it.
Jane Are you still feeling that overwhelmed feeling( subdued?). I just can't get over that feeling, even to talk about the film brings tears to my eyes. One lady at church on Wednesday said that all she saw in the film was an actor and wasn't able to relate the suffering to Jesus. Well I guess every one is entitled to their own opinion but that was a shock to me to hear that from a Christian.
Etta Sue I pray for you to have a blessed weekend at the retreat. Our church had one this week. I didn't realize the expense involved in going to a retreat. It must be nice to be able to afford to go to one.

Yes ... :'(
Marilyn - I hope you like the buckwheat pillow better than I did. I found it too heavy, I couldn't even lift the thing....so I sent it back!
I'll be interested to see how you liked it., then again,,, I had bad arthritis, so no wonder I didn't like it. You will probably be okay with it.
Heather: Sorry.. but I cut the telemarketers off short., as I'm not interested either. I wish we had a "do not call " list like Janet is talking about.
Norm lets them run the speel....then tells them he isn't interested....then again, he is more patient than I am....lol
Janet...........
QuoteThe extra mile.......
Love it. I've got a real problem though. You see, I work part time at a golf course. I guess I'll just have to carry my clubs on that walk ;) ;) ;)
Sonja..........
So sorry for Mike and the rest of the family. Is this a family gene desease? Personally, I recommend you get MIke to a Cardiologist for a professional work-up. Not your family doctor, a cardiologist. Take it from a heart patient, it's important and will set to rest some secrete thougths you folks may be having.
Heather..........
It's really tough to want a shoulder or two and you can't find one. Take heart, the world slams it's doors on Christians also. What do we do? Just exactly what we've been taught to believe and do. MOst of us know exactly what it means to be alone in a crowd.
A long tiring week is over. Two days of relaxation to look forward to.

Judy Mc-----I was talking about the temperature of the water in the swimming pool, not the outdoor temp! ;) ;D But we did have a nice day, I think in the lower 60s.
Thanks for asking, Marilyn. Darrel is still feeling pretty rough. He just had a nice bowl of chicken noodle soup. :) I surely hope he feels better tomorrow.
I borrowed three books from a friend today, to read next week, besides checking out three from the library. Some of them are: The Faith of George W. Bush; I Am a Soldier, Too (Jessica Lynch's story) and "Let's Roll!" by Lisa Beamer (about the guys who prevented the plane from hitting the White house or wherever.) I also got "When The Shofar Blew" by Francine Rivers. So I have lots of good reading to keep me occupied while waiting, waiting, waiting.........
Hey everyone! how are you all doing tonight???? I am doing goodI just got signed into oldies site and it is really fun.
Hey pat can you make it where we all can change the color of the site like he has it, or do you have that setting?
Zachery
Heather, sorry but I don't let telemarketers talk on and on. There have been times when I've listened to the whole spiel and then said I wasn't interested and found they wouldn't take "no" for an answer so I had to hang up while they were talking. A couple of times after I've said, that I wasn't interested, or couldn't afford whatever was being offered, when they kept insisting I said, "Well.... do you accept food stamps?" We're on the do-not-call list now and get very few calls any more.
Then there are the solicitations from the fire and police organizations. Sometimes these are legitimate and sometimes they're a scam. We ask all of them, to send us literature that we can look over and then we'll make a decision. Nine times out of ten we don't get anything.
I am othe Do Not call list. I still get the calls from the phone company trying to get me to upgrade my service. But that is ok.
When I used to get telemarketer calls. I would listen for awhile and then tell them am sorry I don't want to get your hopes up but I am really not interested but while I have you on the phone may I pray for you.
Great, Marilyn! But don't leave us hanging----tell us "the rest of the story!" How did they respond?
Hello! I'm still around, just really busy.
Everybody have a great day, okay!
Evening folks. I have just been in and out of here all day. Didn't really have much to say.
I am heading to bed now.
Talk with you all tomorrow.
Thanks for all the prayers.
Soni
Hi Folks. arrived safe and sound at Pats from North Bay. This is about a 41/2 hour drive. I have to teach a Hazmzt course tomorrow at Kitcher On which is about a 1/2 hours drive from Pats and will return home tomorrw afternoon. This is one of my short courses as it is only 4 hours in length. It rained the first half of the trip but it is quite nice down here.
Got pricked at the med lab today. It's one of those over 50 things. The Doctors like to pick on you as you get older. They call it looking after you but I have some difficulty justifying being poked and pricked as looking after you but I guess thats just my weird way.
Pat and I have had a nice visit talking about some off the ares she has travelled and comparing some notes. It's nice to go over some of the routes with someone who knows where you were and were going. What one doesn't remember the other does.
You know it is amazing how beautiful a continent we live on and I would encourage everone to try and explore as much of it as you can. It really does leave you in awe sometimes just how beautifully the Lord has put it all together. He is trully the great landscaper that no man could ever match.
As for my part of the telemarketer scene. Thats one job I don't think I would ever attempt. I have no patience for somthing like that. Tied cold calling in Life Insurance for a while but went back to transportation. Everytime I try a different field of work I always end up back in transportation. Guess you might say thats my nitch in life. As the saying goes. Its a tough job but someone has to do it.
Well I guess I'll go for now. Remember everyone keep looking up. God Bless Bonesy
I've had a nice visit with John. He got here before 9 pm and we've had coffee and raising bread and more coffee and now we're going to have another cup of coffee!
Have a great day tomorrow.
