JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

John 3:3, 5.  "Jesus answered and said to him, 'Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.' Jesus answered, 'Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.'"

Our Lord tells us that eternal life depends upon both a physical and a spiritual birth.  He makes it clear that the spiritual life is just equivalent to seeing and entering the Kingdom of God.  We should conclude that mere physical birth-entrance into this world just isn't adequate - we absolutely need real spiritual life as well.  But if we are moved by God's Holy Spirit to admit and end our rebellion against God - to surrender to His Kingldom authority over us, then and only then we may actually belong to that Kingdom, and everlasting life is ours.  Have you surrendered?  Have you told Him so?  Is He your King now?

My Hope is Built[/b]
(Click to hear music)

The rain came down, the streams rose,
and the winds blew and beat against that house;
yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
Matthew 7:25-26

Words: Edward Mote
Music: William B. Bradbury

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus' Name.

Refrain
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

Refrain

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

Refrain

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Refrain

Good Morning . Our God iso wonderful and continues to do things that boggle my mind. Yesterday I was out talking to the landlord about the horses and he told me that he wanted to keep on talking to me while all the changes are going on around here.

He also told me that he is going to be building  a 1 bedroom mother in law unit at the back of the property as the last thing to be built here. HMMM interesting that he should tell me that. Then he proceeded to tell me the price raange of rent he would possibly be charging and asked if that would be in my price range, I told him my limit. HHHMM another interesting point in our comversation.

JANE  how about them apples. 8) He said it would be completed in about 1 1/2-2 years. So I would still have to move for awhile Maybe?? maybe not?? God is in complete control and still doing wonderous things in my life.

We had another wonderful prayer meeting last night, with the spirit moving thorugh the church and the people.

Papa John

Yesterday we had another exciting time as we met for worship.  Some parents brought their new born for prayer.  The mother had had a very difficult time and almost lost her life when the baby was born.  The whole congregation had been praying for her and she finally pulled through.  We had a prayer of thanksgiving for her and blessing for the baby.

Our service last night was one of singing.  We sang the old songs of the church.  Usually we have a mixture of contemporary and traditional songs.  But last night we sang the old hymns.  It was good.

I'm sorry I haven't been in for awhile.  It seems like I need to cut down the time on the computer.  But I miss reading the posts here as well as seeing all of your smiling faces.

I Jn 3:1-3
1   How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
2   Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
3   Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.

Janet

It's so good to see you whenever you can get in here, Papa John!  Marilyn, that conversation does sound intriguing....hmmmmmmm.  God has a plan for you, that's for sure!

We have another beautiful day here today.  I am going to go to Hugoton to deliver the framing orders I have finished.  I'm all caught up on it now, until I get more orders.

I did my workout and also swam today.  I had never worked with weights before, but can tell I am getting stronger and more flexible, so even if you are past 60, you can still improve your health and strength.  God is good!

Etta Sue, hope you get a good report.  Our Electric and Telephone companies sponsor a health fair here once a year, and they have medical people there to do all sorts of blood tests, blood pressure checks, dentists, therapists, etc.  It saves about $360 per person just on the blood tests, as it is all free.  So I am missing my painting meeting this month to attend the health fair.  I am hoping my report will say my cholesterol is down.

Time to get about my day's work!

Good Morning .......

Great to see Etta Sue made it safely back to the fold.  Have a good morning out! ... and it's always wonderful to see you, PAPA JOHN.  Your church service sounds inspiring.  I love to sing the old hymns, too.

Judy and Smokey... I may have missed out on the Grand Prize a time or too as well ... hmmmm

Hey there Janet ... How's stuff in your corner of the world?  Think you'll be slowing down any time soon?  I mean with your daily schedule, not you personally!  I had a note from my daughter Joy the other day and she tells me she is now a certified diver.  She was to go on a couple dives yesterday.  She's really excited.  You know how she must feel.

QuoteJANE  how about them apples.  He said it would be completed in about 1 1/2-2 years. So I would still have to move for awhile Maybe?? maybe not?? God is in complete control and still doing wonderous things in my life.
Marilyn ... I like them apples!!  I think it's been said here before ... your new home isn't ready yet ... you may have to relocate temporarily while it is being completed but ... God knows all about that part too!

Good morning to all the rest of y'all who will be stopping by today.  I may not be in for a while but the coffee is fresh brewed and the kettle's on for tea ... help yourself to the goodies over there on the counter.  I'll be back .... sometime .....[/b]
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi everyone.  It is a busy day here at our house, not that I am doing much, but the housekeeper is here cleaning up the house and the yard people are here cleaning up the yard.  Think they will now be coming every other week for the growing season.  It is nice to have everything clean at one time.  My wife particularly enjoys having the house cleaned up all at once as she had to do it a little at a time when she was trying to do it.

I slept wonderfully last night and got up this morning feeling rested for the first time in a few days.  Went to coffee and then got a haircut.  When I came home I had to change the furnace filter upstairs and brought a couple of bags of trash from my daughters room and some dishes.  I had to climb the steps twice and am now really paying the price as am once again exhausted.  Fortunately I don't have anything else I need to accomplish today or places I need to go so will be able to rest after a bite of lunch.

Tbear, glad to see your cheerful posting and see that you are feeling better.  Now to just get your husband back to feeling well.  You and my wife seem to come from the same school in that she can't wait to get the house opened in the spring.

Janet, glad you framing is caught up.  Got a chuckle from your comment on living full time with your grandchildren.  What a true statement.

Marilyn, maybe God is working a new living arrangement for you.  It sounds like your landlord would like to have you as a tenant once again after his new place is built.

Papa John, good to see you posting as we have been missing your presence but understand that you need to pace yourself.

Etta Sue, do hope you didn't melt today.  Tbear would be very disappointed if you couldn't make your visit because you had melted.  I have a strange sense of humor.  Hope the blood tests were just routine.

Judy, are you feeling any better now?

Al, thanks for the devotional.

Pat, sure wish you could be rid of those spasms.  Undoubtedly being on the computer doesn't do anything to help them and I know you try to carry a very heavy load of daily responsibilities that require computer time.

Mike, sorry to read you have a cold and are having a lot of snow.  However, it was nice to read about the preaching yesterday.

Ruth Ann, isn't it amazing what a good full night's sleep will do for us.  Hope this will be a very good week for you.

Jane, thanks for leaving the goodies.

A special hi to Checksix, designtrade, Chris, SmokeytheDog and anyone else who has posted and to whom I haven't commented.

Pastoral Ministry: Personal Identity

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in
word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
--1 Timothy 4:12

This problem of personal identity not infrequently troubles the
faithful minister. The congregation has called him as their pastor
and teacher, but the members have a hard time forgetting the saintly
predecessor who died or who was called to another ministry. They
find it hard to make room for the new minister--mainly because he is
not enough like the former one. His voice is different. So are his
gestures. His hair is not gray. His wife is not as friendly.

Be careful! God blesses people for their faith and obedience, not
because they are old or young, bald or gray, pleasant voiced or
raspy. God expects each one of us to let Him use us in helping
people to a walk of spiritual blessing and victory. Not necessarily
must we have had a long record as heroes in the faith to qualify.
Jesus, Author of our Faith, 70.

"Lord, I pray for any of my brothers who may be facing this
struggle today. Challenge the congregation to move on and love
their new pastor. Give grace to the pastor; help him to faithfully
demonstrate faith and obedience. Weld pastor and people together
in a deep love relationship. Amen."

I have been to Hugoton, delivered the framing orders, took Diane and Jeff to lunch and visited a little with them, washed the car (Jeff gave me tokens  ;D), and am back home.  It isn't pretty here now, but a cold wind is blowing. :(  But, then, it IS March!  So we have to expect windy days, I guess

The kids have found a couple of small life insurance policies their dad had, so they will be receiving that money soon.  I'm sure they would rather have their Dad back.

Tomorrow we will be leaving early to go to Amarillo again.  Beth has appointments with two of her doctors, and Darrel has an eye appointment at the VA.  They will dialate his eyes.  That means I will have to do the driving in town, which I dislike, but I can do it!

I have a few photos to post, guess I will do that now.

Thanks for the devotional, Al.  I also got sent into oblivion....at least, was told that I was not permitted to access the site :'(  Must have been forgiven, cause I'm back.....

Like Papa John, not spending much time on the computer.  Will have to wait until April to get the scans needed to hopefully find out why ill and in so much more pain than usual.  Our medical system moves at a very slow pace and any test takes many weeks to happen!  Unless one gets hauled into the ER first....

Glad things are working out for you, Marilyn.  Thanks for the email.  It was cute.  Jane is right, God will take care of things and it will all work out for the good.  I can't imagine being without Misty & Squeek in my life now.  Misty is so loving and affectionate.  Squeek is so Squeek!

That is a interesting article about Mel Gibson, Chris.  I am not one of his fans....still, it is interesting.  Can only trust that God will use all of these things for good.  Cold hearts can be touched and sent along a path towards truth.

Sorry that you are still in pain, Pat.

Pleasant day all and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Judy McKenna

Pat - I'm so concerned about that pain.  Its been so long this time, before you are getting relief.

Larry:  What a terrific post you did....you remembered everyone!  Did you take notes before posting, or is it your good memory?

Chris:  I coudn't access that site...I will try again.

Marilyn:  Sounds good.....sounds good....

Janet:  What a busy lady you are.  You must be so physically fit to have that much energy.  I get so tired after doing almost nothing.  I still have packing to do, and sitting here at the computer isn't getting it done, so this post will be short.

Etta Sue:  Glad you are back.  Bet the "girls" won't leave you alone, eh?  How was the weather in Florida when you were there.  We head out this Saturday.  Sure hope to see a lot LESS snow when we return!!

Judy, it isn't a good memory.  I use Firefox and can have each page of postings in a separate tab and it makes it fairly easy to go back and forth.

Gilbert came by this morning and we were digging up the roses from next door. The landlord has already started cutting down the bushes, rose bushes and others. He used his hedge cutters (electric) and just literally wacked it all up yesterday. I got a nice surprise today when I checked my bank account, My social sEcurity ccheck arrived on the 3rd. it usually comes on the second wednesday So my rent is paid early.

I am so pumped about all that God is doing in my life.

Good evening!

Mom/child time now..later.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hey - finally got to come in. My body must really be craving sleep. I awakened feeling fine at 5:30. Removed CPAP mask, which makes sad-looking dents in my face so that the face could normalize before going to work.

Then, bingo, next time I awakened I had 15 minutes before being late to work. Needless to say, I made up the time this afternoon and my boss is such an understanding person. Goodness,  I'm blessed to report to him.

I see the doctor tomorrow. Am expecting her to "bless" my progress and tell me to return in a few weeks.

A little tale:

A very dear friend and I had a private conversation at her home last evening. It's about a recent matter than needs continued prayer.

As I drove the 18 miles back to my home, I was feeling pretty alone and felt friendless except for a few people. I turned on the gospel radio station and the song playing brought grateful tears to my eyes:  "You Are Not Alone" - a few phrases: He will remember his Own, etc.

Oh, how much I needed that explicit comfort right at that time. God is truly faithful isn't He.

Ruth Ann

...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Pat

I love trivia.  Do any of you?

From an email I received today...

Who was the first person to die from radiation poisoning?

The first person known to have died of radiation poisoning was scientist Marie Curie. She and her husband were the discoverers of radium.
