Today's devotional was written by a friend of Jack and I, Sandy McEachern.   I found it to be so true of so many partings and Sandy's earthly father was certainly a man of God.

Morning Devotional...

And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.
Genesis 50:1

I didn't want him to go but he went anyway.

If I had known he was leaving that day, I would have fallen on his face and wept upon him and kissed him.

But I didn't.

And so I hugged him and said, "I love you, Dad," little knowing that the last few seconds of our time together were expiring.

Later that day he left--quietly.

The tenderness with which the Lord eased him out of his earthly tabernacle makes me smile in my tears.

With heaven in view, he breathed out the sum of all life's joys and sorrows in a final sigh and then Jesus took his hand and said, "Come away."

The memory of the just is blessed.
--S. McEachern

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/when-i-survey-the-wondrous-cross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o'er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Pat............

Amen to your devotional.  The message I get from it is we should daily tell our loved ones how much we love and appreciate them.  There's nothing like a surprised hug.  It just isn't my nature to go out and buy flowers.  I'm sorry, it just isn't.  Nor am I good at going out and purchasing a card that someone else has written something nice to someone they themselves love.  But I always have a hug and a kiss for my sweetheart.  It's from me.  If our Lord should take me home tonight, she'll remember our last kiss.

How often our lives are so busy that we do not find time to  love we have for our families and friends.  Thanks for reminding us that our relationships are worth more than what we hold, a timely reminder for busy people.

Sonja.............

There are over 20 different weight machines, and 10 free weight stations, plus treadmills, eliptical walkers, and several stationary bicycles.  The weight machines are designed for each muscle in the body.  One set of 20 on each machine at a reasonable heavy weight (At least half of body weight) gives your muscles a good wake-up call.  Then another set of 20 with an increased (small) amount of weight increase starts to add strengthening to the muscles.  I'm after toning to help my golf game.  At my age I am not buffing, it's impossible.

England. 8.30 a.m.

Hello everyone.

Pat Thanks sis. What a lovely, poignant devotional..yet not sad for Christian's when we lose a Christian dear one. Yes indeed as we say Goodbye and loosen our hold, then other arms are waiting to welcome on that other shore.
Praise God!

I had a reply from Ken Spencer this morning.  He and Margaret are well but very busy with college.  He will pop in again  sometime Pat.

Lee Hello Superman!!! ha ha!!!  all that fitness equipment, I would be fit to drop! Best Wishes for the golf ...how's the handicap, or shouldn't I ask?

Gareth.  Hello and God bless you and your dear ones.

Ria I hope You are alright this morning and haven't caught the flu from Marcel.  I hope he's feeling a bit
better today.  Please give him my love., also Ko and Jan.

The sun has just come out.  We have 6 primulas for the wall at the front of the house.  Chris has the day off so will plant them for me., and I have a few seeds to sew in pots, something I can manage, all this is a good sign and very uplifting after what has seemed a long shut-in Winter.  God is good!  Praise Him!

"Thine O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the Heaven  and in  the earth is Thine;  Thine is the Kingdom, O Lord, and Thou art exalted as Head above all.

Both riches and honour come of Thee, and Thou reignest over all; and in Thine hand is power and might; and in Thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all."

1 Chr 29:11-12

Have a Wonder-filled Day in Jesus.

Pat thanks for the reminder to show our loved ones we love them.  John always knows that I love him and is reminded on the road often.

This cold has me down, more tyleonl.  Say those of us on blood pressure medication, please remember to read the lables of over the counter meds, a lot cannot be used if you have high blood pressure.  Also please toss the Advil, ibuprofen, it interfears with the BP meds effectiveness.  My Doctor told me that.

Lee I have often said I would like to have a pair of llamas.  Do you sell the wool?  We had an aunt who could have woven it into blankets!  That is a little known craft now.

Hello Ria, Yes Melaura should write you, Mother is too elderly to teach and John doesn't have the confidence to know the correct pronounciation.  Also John is better with the dialect.

Good morning Jenny.  It is afternoon for you.  We still have snow here in the north.  The seeds are out though and I am this weekend starting my tomato and pepper plants.

Well time to start teaching.  I will be back later.

Love to all

Good morning/afternoon.

I am off to work out this morning.  Maybe do some arobics while I am at the club.

Wonderful devotion, Pat.  Knowing that our loved ones are in heaven makes it easier, for me anyway.
Our Pastor was talking about how he would speak at funerals where they weren't Christians and he could feel a difference from the other funerals where they were Christians.  Sad!

Ria, sometimes I get like 15 of those virus's a day.  My ISP catches them for me.  Thankfully.

Hi Jenny.  Good weather your way?

I might not be on here much today. I am going to take some pictures, maybe some portraits.  Karma, are you planning to take portraits for the dpc challenge?  I haven't entered for awhile..thought I might.

Left-wing-sinner You are welcome to this site.
I would like you to know that I too do not always agree with everyone on C.P. all of the time....we are an assortment of differing denominations but we are all true followers of Jesus Christ. Some are for "Paul and some for Barnabas." We speak the "Truth in love" and I believe we have "Unity in diversity."

I for one respect your opinions and accept that at this time you feel that this site is not for you.

I know from my own experience that there is not a better more loving fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour on the whole w.w.web. I have received such love and kindness from my brethren on Pat's web-site.  I pray that you may be shown the Truth about our little family.,

Please note that I am not a photographer.  Pat extends a hand of welcome to all who come this way.  I am honoured that she has accepted me.....warts and all!

In Jesus' Name.

Jenny.

Good morning, all!  A busy morning for me here, I'm getting ready to teach a computer class.  Part of my job is teaching teachers about using the computer, so they can then teach their students.

We are really jazzed here, we've had 2 or 3 new families attend services in the past couple of Sundays!  These are previously unchurched people, so we're really happy that our church family seems to be reaching out to the community.

God is good, all the time!

This has been a busy day with the phone ringing, yelling at a black cat to STOP, and unexpected things happening on the pc.

Marilyn, I figured out how to disable the firewall, Norton Anti-virus, Norton Anti-spam, Weather Bug and all else I thought might be a problem but I still can't seem to get PeoplePC to download its software.  I called PeoplePC and they say it is the anti-virus but so far it isn't.  I will keep on trying.

A great devotion today.  Yes, we must remember to tell our loved ones that we love them.

Gareth I don't mind cold and wet, BUT I am minding cold and snowy.  We are not through with the snow yet.  Have you roses blooming yet?  I remember being at our cousins home in Chester, and the beautiful rose gardens and hedges.

Pat when are we going for a CP bash to the other side of the pond?  You leading it?  Perhaps we can persuade Ria to join us then we can all meet.  Perhaps a tour in Holland as well?

Good morning Etta Sue,  How is Jerry these days. Let him know we really miss him and to please come back and tell us what he is doing/thinking!  I am giggling at the comment  that you have been yelling at Inky!  I was wondering how he was doing!

Puter stuff is something that baffles me too.  I have had a thing put into my puter as a home page and when I tried to put the one I want back everything goes screwwy.

Kim I admire your ability to teach computers.  Perhaps yu can give us puter illiterates some easy fixes?  We welcome you here and are rejoicing with you that you have some new families!  Woohoo!  There are a few homeschooling families here as well.

Anyway I am back to the table to teach will be back later.

Love y'all

Jenny, A hardy good morning to you..........

Apparently I missed the post you were addressing where someone came in and said he/she disagreed with "some" of the posts.  In my lifetime I have found few people to agree on every topic that comes down the pike, but honest (In this forum; Biblical) expressions and personal belief based on God's Word brings about a fair and balanced discussion.  Argument is NEVER in order.  Like you, I do not follow after the faith practices of some of the folks in this forum, but of those I do not agree with, I find I agree 100% with them on their love of, and for, our Lord.  In so reading and agreeing with them, I believe I will have the pleasure of spending eternity with them with our Lord.  Only He knows our hearts.

My last post brought something to mind..........

If I stretch my imagination a bit, I see reading and studying the Bible as being similar to the following......

I am seated with the peoples of the world in a very large auditorium, admission is free, and each of us has a microphone in front of us.  On each side of the stage are two long tables angling back toward a larger chair.  Seated at the tables are the major and minor prophets of the Bible, each with microphones, and our Lord is seated in the center, a Bible is in His lap, with all of the other great authors in the Bible to His right and left.  The audience is comprised of two types of people, those who ask questions, and those who are silent.  When those of us who want answers to a specific Biblical question (Those who are serious)  that may arise out of the Word, we in the audience, simply address our question to one of the prophets (The Lord being one of them).  I may have a question of Isaiah and he responds with his Biblical truth(s).  after Isaiah answers my question, Ezekiel, Daniel, and Jeremiah, might raise their hands and individually, each one of them adds to what they know on that particular question.  The Lord then says, I agree with each one of them 100%, are there any questions?  If the answer is not yet clear, our Lord then addresses the prophets by asking them to give their answer again.  If I am paying attention, I then acknowledge to all of them that I now have their answer.  The Lord then says, "Next question?"

March 9

Pastoral Ministry: I Know I'll Be in Trouble

But even after we had suffered before and were spitefully treated at
Philippi, as you know, we were bold in our God to speak to you the
gospel of God in much conflict.
--1 Thessalonians 2:2

It is good for us to remember how strong He is--and how weak we are.
I settled this issue a long time ago. I tell you I have talked to
God more than I have talked to anyone else. I have reasoned more
with God and had longer conferences with God than with anybody else.

And what did I tell Him? Among other things, I told Him, "Now, Lord,
if I do the things I know I should do, and if I say what I know in
my heart I should say, I will be in trouble with people and with
groups--there is no other way!

"Not only will I be in trouble for taking my stand in faith and
honesty, but I will certainly be in a situation where I will be
seriously tempted of the devil!"

Then, after praying more and talking to the Lord, I have said,
"Almighty Lord, I accept this with my eyes open! I know the facts
and I know what may happen, but I accept it. I will not run. I
will not hide. I will not crawl under a rug. I will dare to stand
up and fight because I am on your side--and I know that when I am
weak, then I am strong!"  I Talk Back to the Devil, 146.

"Lord, I'm convicted by Tozer's statement that he has 'talked to God
more than I have talked to anyone else' (and by my suspicion that in
his case that was literally true!). Help me to talk with You more,
and then to have the same commitment as Tozer toward doing what I
know I should do, even if I get in trouble! Amen."

Dear Pat, I notice that you were a  wee bit "low," that is understandable, but  we pray that you are now neither too "high" nor too "low".
But walking on the King's Highway, which is just  right.
When I was a young Christian, I would  go with friends to the most wonderful charismatic fellowships and after, would be "high" for a few days, then I would come back "down".
This lasted for a few years, then I realised that it was no way to live the believers life, up, and down like a yo yo!
So gradually I found myself walking a more level pathway, neither up nor down, ( just like the grand old Duke of York.)
I guess that is the best walk here on this earth, walking with the Lord on a steady even road, not "down" and always looking "up," looking for the unexpected blessing  to happen, for He never ceases to surprise us, on this wonderful King's Highway!
Praising the Lord at all times, and for all things! :)
love Chris. ;)

For the power Thou hast given me to lay hold of things unseen:
For the strong sense I have that this is not my home:
For my restless heart which nothing finite can satisfy: I give
Thee thanks, O God. For the invasion of my soul by Thy Holy
Spirit: For all human love and goodness that speak to me of
Thee: For the fullness of Thy glory outpoured in Jesus Christ: I
give Thee thanks, O God.

My aren't we a quiet bunch today!  Only on page 2!

Chris...... Can we start calling you the grand old Duke of York???

I know watch that "old"!!!

I like your scenario Lee... I can come up with at least one good question,  and I am sure there will be an answer for it.

Now I am off for a hot tea, and a slice of toast, with cheese.  You American folks always differentiate between tea and Hot tea,  Here in Canada are the other way, If we say tea, everyone assumes it is hot, unless we say iced.  HAHA  Wonder who is backwards here?

Well cheerio for now.

Hi everyone.  It has been a busy day and I didn't have time to post this morning although some of the postings then.  This was our monthly luncheon at the Senior Center and we had an interesting speaker on a system where you put your medical history, medicines, allergies, contacts, etc. in a little plastic folder that stays on the side of the refrigerator in a little sleeve that has a magnet.  Then on your entry door you post this little red sticker that alerts the firemen or police to look for such information should they be called in an emergency.  It is the type of thing that you hope you will never need but it might save your life or help authorities alert the proper persons in an emergency.  Following the delicious lunch and program I went to the church for Calvin Cove.  Today we sang hymns.

Pat, the devotional really spoke to me today and certainly made me think of the times I spent with my folks during the last years and days of their lives.  Both happy and sad memories.

Lee, I agree with your comments.  As long as we keep our focus on Jesus Christ as our saviour then the other things we may discuss and agree or disagree on are  not that significant.

Welcome to left-wing_sinner.

Etta Sue, to boot up your computer in safe mode (i.e., only loading the essential drivers for Windows) as the computer boots up keep pressing the F8 key and it will give you a screen that one of the options will be safe mode.  You may be having other things load in the background that you don't even know about when you boot up regularly.  Then go ahead and see if you can't load the software and reboot to put Windows back into its regular mode.

Kim, I was interested to see you are teaching a computer class.  I have been involved with our local SeniorNet Learning Center for several years.  This is where we teach seniors to use computers.  I know that Pat has also taught some classes for seniors.

Ria, sorry to hear that the various things your husband has tried for snoring hasn't helped.  I know that can be quite a problem.  My wife tells me I don't snore very often anymore since I lost quite a bit of weight.

I guess I have worn myself out today as don't seem to have much to say so will sign off for now.  It was good seeing everyone posting.

JudyB I know the difference between a Cup of tea (hot) and a glass of tea (iced). Home form work now, and doing Bea's laundry, I prefer doing it  at home rather thatn in the washers in the laundry rooms at the apartment complex where she lives.

Just checking in to let you know I am here.

Gosh, just think you will have all those questions answered in Glory...

I can see Isaiah and Jeremiah, Daniel and Ezekiel,  etc., etc. all queueing up to talk to you there.

I know you have your place booked.

Won't it be wonderful!!!

Hello friends:

I'm just checking in to see what you've all been doing.

I've had company for most of the afternoon., so was unable to get here earlier.

Now its time to find something for our supper.  After a large dinner at noon, I'm hoping something light like bacon and eggs will do!

I'd like some ideas on what you gals do when you have had a heavier than normal lunch....toasted open face sandwiches are an idea......hmm....

Good afternoon, everyone.

Well, it is March.   :-\  We did get up to about 40 this afternoon, but it's cloudy and damp feeling and it's been snowing very, very lightly almost all day.  Next, though, comes April.   ;D

Gene and I believe it's very important to say "I love you" often during the day and never to leave the house or go to bed without a kiss and one more "I love you".  At our age it's always possible that could be the last thing we'll have heard.  I'd never want to think that I had a chance to remind him how much I love him and didn't, and then never be able to again.

And it's just as important to say "I love you Jesus" at any odd moment, too.   :-*

Ha ha...Gareth.  I was just coming in to ask Judy

Judy B
What is "going to 'veg' with a good book?"..I thought veg was something you eat with roast meat, gravy etc.,

I see 'you' go to bed with veg?

I am going to bed with a John Grisholm novel.

Sleep tight Judy.
God Bless.

Gareth, I drive the American style of semi truck as does my husband Bonesy.  We have driven all over the United Stater, and John has been in all  10 provinces.  We drove team for the most part although the last summer I drove solo.  We had the time of our lives, working together.  I had a good time as a solo driver as well.  The Euorpean truck is smaller than the American, your roads are too small for these trucks.  Hope this helps.

Ta JudyB, my only knowledge of trucks is being stuck behind them on the M25 or M1 in tailbacks that never end.   Have a great evening.  Bless you.

Jenny my dear..... I am doubling up laughing at your question.  As I am laughing Kassie is saying, "I have an earache, what is so funny about that?"

OK.....

No to "veg" means that I am going to do nothing but sit/lie and read.  A person in a vegetative atate has no life functions, I will be breathing and heart will be beating but I will be blocking out all around me.   John says I am boreing when I do this.  The book I am working on is Winner Take All by T Davis Bunn.  An excellent book that I have beed reading 2 pages at a time at bedtime.  It is time to get serious about it.

Oh and Jenny, you are reading another of my favourite authors.  Have you read The Testament?

Title: Re:New Every Morning~March 9
Post by: JudyB on March 09, 2004, 06:04:56 PM
Gareth.... The main thing I woud say to any car driver is to stay far enough back so you can see both of the drivers mirrors.  The mistake most people make is that they get in behind the trailler of a "semi-truck" and the driver of the truck cannot see that you are there,   Also it slows down your reaction time, as you cannot see ahead of him and what is coming.  If there is an animal that runs across the road, he will apply the breaks, if you are too close you may not break in time.  You will be hurt and he is big enough to walk away from the accident.

Be careful and drive safely.

11. 20 p./m. England.

Judy...Yes I have read The Testament, The Brethren and his others  all except his latest.  The name of it escapes me.

Talking of Names escaping...Have you read "My Name Escapes Me" (an enchantment...Dirk Bogarde comments) and "Blessings In Disguise"(fascinating. The Spectator)  by Alec Guinness.  Now he had a wonderful dry sense of humour.  I found both of these un-putdownable.

I am a great fan of Steve Martini Judy...I prefer him to J.G. nowadays...His "Critical Mass" is Brilliant!!!

Enjoy the luxury of the veggie state. Happy reading sister.

Luv U.
Jenny.

Jenny........ Martini is John's favourite writer.  I try to get the books before he has a chance to read them, He really doesn't mind, as he knows he will have it back in a day or two!.

See if you can get any T Davis Bunn books.  He is amazing as an author, and periodically teams up with Janette Oke.  You will enjoy his writing if you like Martini.

I am out of here, Going to have a bubble bath and then into vegetative state.  LOL

Last night as I lay on my bed sniffling and snuffing (and yes, blowing my nose, LEE!!), I was listening to a Billy Graham Crusade meeting on the TV.

George Beverly Shea sang and my goodness, he's so old but he sure can still sing.

This is what he sang...

All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes,
and cassia, out of the ivory palaces,
whereby they have made thee glad."
Psalm 45:8

My Lord has garments so wondrous fine,
And myrrh their texture fills;
Its fragrance reached to this heart of mine,
With joy my being thrills.

Chorus
Out of the ivory palaces,
Into a world of woe,
Only His great, eternal love
Made my Savior go.

In garments glorious He will come,
To open wide the door;
And I shall enter my heavenly home,
To dwell forevermore.

Chorus
Out of the ivory palaces,
Into a world of woe,
Only His great, eternal love
Made my Savior go.

Hello everyone.

I am new here, and it is odd that today as I went to work, I was thinking about these things. I have heard it said that when a loved one passes away, we "lose" that person. But if they are a follower of our Lord, then we know where they are, so they aren't really lost. Are they?

What we have lost though is the ability to have relationship with that person because they are there, and we're here. But if death is a thin veil that separates this life from eternal life, then it really isn't that far away from any of us. Is it? Here is the thought that has me intrigued though. Jesus said that He came to give us "life", not two separate lives, (here and then there), but one life. So, that makes death seem less of a feared enemy. These are just a few things I have been thinking on lately. Not a popular topic, but my dad was close to passing in January, so it has been on my mind. Oh, he is better now.

Well, I guess after re-reading this post, it might seem like a dark hello, but not really, so as you get to know me, and we develop "relationships" here, you will come to see that at times I grab hold of a thought and my thinking goes in circles....sorry if this drives some of you nuts, I am just thinking out loud.

Thanks for the opportunity to speak. I'll pass the stick to someone else now.

Monty

You are so right about that thin veil that runs between life and death. But like you Said Jesus came to give us life.,( I will fininsh that )and life more abundantly.

Tell us about yourself.

I've really appreciated reading your thoughts and hopefully you'll share more.  It's so good that you got this website from Pinkie's list.  It's sad that that list has gone now but Pinkie lost her Yahoo ID and couldn't access it.

Judy, I've read What's So Amazing About Grace and also The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey.  He's an excellent author.

Pat, we watched Billy Graham's Crusade, too, and were pleased to see (and hear) George Beverly Shea.  We have one of his CD's and love to play it.  We were also pleasantly surprised to see how well Billy Graham appeared to be.

Well, here it is well into the evening and I am just now writing anything though I have stopped by several times today.

It is good to hear from each one.  I want to give a special WELCOME TO MONTY, THE REGULAR GUY

Monty, I believe you are thinking about something we all think about.  When a love one dies we do "lose" that person in that he or she is no longer with us to see, to talk to, to live with.  We lost my mother 25 years ago.  But my mother lives and when the Lord calls me home I will live and I believe I will see her again.

You are right.  Jesus came to give us life.  Jesus said, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."  John 10:10-11

It is good to see everyone here today.  Have a good night's rest.

Monty........

From my understanding in reading your posts, you do sound like a "regular guy".  That's neat and it's honest.  I admire any man/woman that speaks from the chest (heart).  Yep, sometimes we ring a few bells, but our intent isn't to bring discension, or to bring calimity raining down on anyone's head becuase we have expressed an opinion.  As you read me you will soon see I believe much as you in this regard.  So let's enjoy.

If you are native American, or an American who appreciates and understands the American way, you might get a kick out of my next comment.  A few years ago when Vivian and I visited Taos N.M. we were walking through a parking lot and we noticed a bumper sticker on a native's car.....It read: "CUSTER GOT THE POINT." I admit, it brought a roar of laughter from me.

That said, I can't always guarantee I will know the answer to the question!

Gareth, I have to say that driving around in England is really an interesting task for an American!  My brother rented a van for my family while we were there, and my mom, sister and I kept telling him "stay left! stay left!"

Hi Everyone...I just got home from EE.   Had a great night.   We were in an apartment building talking very to a Muslim.   He was very open and took down our number in case he wants to talk some more.

This weekend is Missionfest down at the Convention Centre in Toronto.    I will be going down to counsel or man the EE booth.  Aparently the singles in the city are all getting together and having some kind of party.

Well I'm off to bed.   It is late.    God Bless
