We fear men so much, because we fear God so little.
~William Gurnall~

In which book of the Bible do we find the verse:
"...for God did send me before you to preserve life."

Morning Devotional...

And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper.
1 Samuel 17:20

The keeper is unknown to us.

Yet, had he not faithfully tended the sheep, David would not have been free to accomplish his exploits in the Valley of Elah.

Perhaps we won't be the one to do "great" things for God ourselves, but our faithfulness in the "small" things (Mt. 25:21, 23) may release others who can.

Some day, when the whole story is told, we will rejoice together.
--Garry W. Seale

Put thou thy trust in God,
In duty's path go on;
Walk in His strength with faith and hope,
So shall thy work be done.

OH wow, sarah.  congrats.  I used to enjoy the last few days of school so much.

I hope everyone is doing great.  I have just now finished reading Sunday's posts.  Didn't quiet make it through all of Saturday's, I don't think.

What is a dessert auction (I told you I didn't get them all read)?  That sounds like something I would be interested in!

I gotta get to bed.  I've been working on some pictures now until my eyes are crossing.  We have some friends who are bluegrass musicians, and they are getting ready to make a new CD.  They let me take the picturs for it, and I am trying to get them ready to burn on a CD so they can look at them.  I sure am glad I am not trying to make a living at this. >o o<     <----karmat's eyes crossing

Have an awesome week ya'll.  It looks like another super busy one here, but I'll try to get in.

Take care

Well I finally finished reading all the posts from yesterday.  Won't try to reply to them, though.  Yesterday went well, though tiring.  We drove 120 miles up to the little area called Pistol River, I preached, then the little group had midday meal together, then drove back down.  It's a very, very small group.  I've wondered a time or two if it's really worth it for me to go up there.  Sometimes I think it would really be better if they went to another church in the nearest town, which is only 15/20 minutes away.  Lord, give me wisdom to know what to do.  I only go up there about once every 2/3 months anyway.  Someone in the group ministers on the other Sundays.

Ria, you get the best little poems!  I just appreciate this one so very much.  You should post it in the topic that Joyce opened in Manna For The Soul.  It goes right along with what she was saying.

Al, this reminds me so much of some of the very small churches that Jack used to go and preach in to help them out.  It was a long drive there but my how they appreciated Jack going to them.  It was worth it.

I just looked and saw that we have NINE guests on line!

And there are no answers to our little quiz up above??

Title: Re: New Every Morning~May 17
Post by: Papa John on May 17, 2004, 09:49:29 AM
The answer to the quiz is Genesis in the story of Joseph.  Well, I didn't look it up this time but I think this is correct.

Another cloudy day here with a chance of rain later today.

For the past several Sunday nights, Chris, our preacher has given us lessons from Psalm 103.  It is a wonderful Psalm which tells us about God's love.

Ps 103:8-14
8   The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
9   He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10   he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
11   For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12   as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13   As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
14   for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
(NIV)

Yep!  You're right, Papa John!    It's in Genesis 45:5  "Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life."

Psalm 103 is a favourite of mine as well, Papa John.  In fact it was also a favourite of my father's as well and he has as his licence plate on his car, "PSA 103"

Pat:  I remember Judy  telling me about your Dad's licence plates.

Ruth Ann:   Do get well

My printer is acting up so I must go the the shop and see if I will get it repared or purchase a new one.  What I would really like is a 3 in one unit but cost is the reason right now and even at that I am not sure what make to even consider purchasing,

Blessing and have a great day.

Chris, what a joy to see you popping in here and posting.  I'm glad that you had a few hours rest and I'm sure that as I told you about when Jack had his out, it was about Day 7 or 8 that he started to be able to tolerate the pain more easily so you're on Day 7 now, right?

Willing rather to be absent from the body,

2 Corinthians 5:8

Words: Mrs. E. W. Griswold
Music: Philip P. Bliss (1838-1876)

We're going home, no more to roam,
No more to sin and sorrow;
No more to wear the brow of care,
We're going home tomorrow.

Refrain
We're going home, we're going home tomorrow,
We're going home, we're going home tomorrow.

For weary feet awaits a street
Of wondrous pave and golden;
For hearts that ache, the angels wake
The story, sweet and olden.

Refrain

For those who sleep, and those who weep,
Above the portals narrow,
The mansions rise beyond the skies—
We're going home tomorrow.

Refrain

Oh, joyful song! Oh, ransomed throng!
Where sin no more shall sever;
Our King to see, and, oh, to be
With Him at home forever!

Hi everyone,
It's a beautiful sunny day here in Kansas today. Those cute air freshner plugs my dh bought for our house make it smell so wonderful. I almost thought I smelled fresh apple pie this morning. LOL. Makes me want to bake.
Jason has a conference call at work this morning. Pray for our friend Barbara who put her back out and is in a lot of pain. I feel so bad for her.

Janet- I hope you feel better soon and get over your food poisioning quickly.

Ruth Ann - i do hope you are feeling better soon and the dizzyness stops.

The boys are playing today. I taught Dalton how to count to 100 (surprisingly he didn't need my help much) and then we worked on shapes. Karsten and I have to work on reading and math today and then we should be caught up.
It's hard because sometimes with my bad days I just want to take time off and now I have to make up for that. LOL.

Anyway, not sure what to cook for dinner tonight, just maybe something with chicken.

Have a great day all.

Hugs,
Shawnee

Hi everyone.  For some reason this has been a very busy day and I am just now getting here to read messages.  I am worn out so am just going to write a couple of things and then post some photos I worked up a few minutes ago.

Janet, sure sorry to hear of the food poisoning.  I have never had that but my poor wife and grandmother had it in July in Oklahoma back in 1964 when we were expecting our daughter.  Pat had been basically ordered to stay in bed as was having some problems and my grandmother had come to stay with us to help with our baby son.  We had over 30 days of 100 degree weather and we had no air conditioning back then.  Needless to say it was a memorable time for us all (in a most unpleasant way).

Karmat, a dessert auction is one where you go and pay $5 each to enjoy a dessert of your choice.  Then there were many items dontated mainly by members of the congregation plus the youth selling services such as babysitting or yard work as a fund raiser.  They were having both a silent auction and a regular bid auction.  The trip is going to cost around $10,000 and this is a major fund raising event to help the youth on their mission trip.

Judy, it is good to see you posting again and to read that your arm isn't as painful.

Please forgive me for not commenting to each person today but that is going to have to wait for another day.

Well, I'm back from a shortened fishing trip "up north."  Fish weren't biting.....cause of storms.

Spent 2 days with an old school friend.  He wife died recently and he set parameters for discussion:  "I don't want to talk about my wife or religion."  He says he does not believe in God (I wonder about that)

I agreed, but said I would if he brought them up/into the discussion.  Well, we ended up talking about both things till 2 AM (way past my bedtime.)

Many seeds planted.......

As I was leaving today, he kept staring at me with a funny look...I read his look to mean "I don't want you to go, yet."

Pray for Phil........Thanks

PS  I see that I started page three.

Well, Pat., I don't know if we will fill page 3., but here is my contribution for NEM!...LOL

Thank you Ria for the aniversarty wishes.  I can't believe where all the years have gone.  How many years have you been married Ria?

Janet and Ruth Ann:  I sure hope you two ladies are feeling so much better today.  I have never had food poisoning, or dizziness., but I'm sure both are terrible.

Mailyn:  What is "WM"., that you mentioned?

Sarah:  My grandchildren in Michigan will be out of school for the summer in a couple of weeks.  My Canadian grandchildren will go until June 20th or so.  They don't go back though until after Labour Day.

I didn't do much today., but did get the laundry done up., Norm washed floors and vaccumed the rugs.  Guess the place looks decent once again...LOL

Judy B:  How are you these days?  Haven't seen you post for quite awhile.  I am still praying for you.  Is John travelling these days?

My gandson, Josh (age 13) is going on a Mission trip in July with Youth with a Mission (YWAM)....is anyone familiar with it?  He has to find $425.00 somehow.

Well., this is it for me... not much else new to write about.

.... Judy M.

Hi

Wow, I didn't realize I had been away from here for so long, but when I logged in and started to read...I have a week's worth to catch up on. A big hug Pat and Thank you for the May Newsletter (perhaps could be nicknamed "kick in the pants") to prompt me back here.

So sorry to hear about LilaMae's accident.  I hope that it is starting to heal quite nicely by now.  How did the dentist appointment go?

Marilyn, I really like your Prayer Reminder and using the fingers and thumb of your hand.

Ruthie, the white crab apple trees are really pretty to look at when in bloom (NOW), but my previous neighbours planted that little tiny tree in the corner of their yard, and now that it has grown, it overhangs my yard and all I have the pleasure of doing is picking the rotted fruit from the ground ::)......(if only they would let me harvest some of the apples for jelly)

I'm not sure who posted the link for the Scripture Tree, but I have really enjoyed it.

Mieka and Ria, what a joy you both give me!  Warm fuzzy feelings whenever I read your posts!

Mom, how did you make out with your printer?  Any luck?

And now, I guess I must go.  I have to get laundry sorted, and pizza started for a very late dinner.......and then must get some banking issues sorted out.

I made it through a very hectic day. Lots of puzzling through strange situations, etc.

I felt your prayers.

First time ever, when I phoned the doctor's office they said to come in at 9 am tomorrow.

Also, I really scared my children. Since I went in early, I was inmy boss' office until about 9 o'clock. Several had tried to reach me. No answers either at work, home, or cell.

So, my daughter, who lives here in town was detailed to come to the house, prepared to call the doctors or police or paramedics, based on her findings.

Instead, just as she was leaving the house, I phoned her cell phone. You could hear the relieved tone in her voice.

And, the last thing she said as we prepared to hang up was a very soft, (said with a catch in her voice), "I love you, Mom."

I am home again and very glad to be here.  I had a trying day.  Beth and I got to Garden about 30 minutes before the set time to meet her friends, so we sat in the sunshine on a bench in front of the Golden Corral.  When Joe and Diana arrived and we got up to go inside, Beth's leg wouldn't work.  She could not pick her foot up!  So I had to reach down, get hold of the leg of her jeans and move her foot forward for each step.  :'(  I don't know what is going to happen next with her.  We have to take her to Amarillo tomorrow to see two of her doctors, one is her neurologist.  I hope they might have some answers for us.

Larry, you are sure right--food poisoning is awful.  This is about the fifth or sixth time I have had it.  The first time we went to Coxumel, Mexico, we both had it.........ugh.  Then I got it in Venezuela, and once here at McDonalds, and now Sonic.  So if you order something from a fast food place, it's a good idea to order it without catsup or cheese or something they usually put on it; because then they have to make it up fresh.  I think the sandwich I got must have been setting under the heating light for a while. Yuck.........I still feel bad, but so much better than I did.

Today is so sad in our history.  I do pray we can get the constitutional amendment on marriage passed; otherwise I really fear for the future of our country.

I may not be on tomorrow, as we are leaving early and may be gone until late.  But I will be thinking of you!  :)

Thanks for the devotional Pat.  Also thanks to Papa John for the wonderful answers he gives to your questions.  They are really helpful.

I have not been feeling great and having trouble walking.  So staying close to home for the past few days.  Really enjoying the little cat and all of her antics.  She visits me early in the morning for a breakfast snack and play time, before going upstairs to see Amanda off to school.  I have fallen totally in love with her....even Ralph pets her...and he is not a cat lover.  The little monkey has cast a spell over everyone!

Judy McKenna's recipe for Impossible Cheeseburger Pie is great.  I have gotten into the habit of cooking Sat.'s dinner for everyone.  This gives Wendy a break and since Ralph is working late, they eat downstairs with me and we save his dinner for the Microwave.  Plan to try more of the interesting recipes you folks have sent in.  Will try to add some of mine to the file.

I'm not certain what was referred to about  a marriage law.  Guess it is the business about same sex marriages??
I noted in the paper recently that our Ottawa Gov. is claiming same sex partners have a more stable environment for children!!!!  What  has happened to our world?

If you can get Sue Thomas, FBI on your cable, it is a good, clean program.  There is a real Sue Thomas who worked for the FBI and is deaf.  The actress who plays the part is also deaf and they have a hearing dog who is to die for....I looked it up on the internet and Sue Thomas and the actress are both really interesting Christians.  Worth reading about.  It is from the PAX Cable Co., which is Christian.  Also find Doc and 7th Heaven worth watching.  This is for those who are fed up with TV violence.

For someone who didn't have much to say, this has gone on for a bit.  Sent some photo's for Pat to post when time permits.  Love the photo's of flowers that have been posted.

Pleasant dreams all and God Bless.

Hi Liz...

I also watch Sue Thomas!  I think it's a great program.

I've posted your photos! They are terrific.  I love the ones especially of where you live but I have such a love for the sea.

Wild guess -- Mother?

Hello all.  Just checking in before i go to bed.  Travis went to bed early, and that usually means up early, so in order not to be a zombie tomorrow, I need to go a bit earlier as well.

Janet -- yuck.  I don't think I've ever had food poisoning, though there is a suspicious incident last fall when I had a steak and cheese sub from Subway . . . .  It was not pretty.

My mind has just gone blank as to who was here and what they said.  Please know that I read it all, and prayed when prayer was requested and laughted when humor was appropriate.

Can ya'll believe how fast May is moving along?  or is it just me??

Oh yea, Pat, you ask about my work.  Right now, I have been cut from 9.5 hours to 1.5.  Instead of teaching on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12 - 4, and Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11, I just do the Wednesday morning class.  I would be less than honest if I said I was heartsick over it.  :-)  There is a lot going on right now, and it is actually helping me timewise, not to have to go in.  I give the end of the year tests that the state requires for homeschooler and I tested 3 last week, I think, and 3 or four this week.  This "layoff" actually gives me some extra testing time, so I don't have to test up into June.

I'm off to read the other forums now!

nite nite all, if i don't get back in here.

Proverbs 31:1 says, "The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him."

so, Karma, you're correct!

Good Evening...I was out to Zellers tonight looking for some patio furniture.   A table, 4 chairs and an umbrella.   They usually have the cheapest.   This weekend I was thinking of having my family over for a barbeque and fun in the back yard.

I will probably look again tomorrow night.

Sue...Did your neighbour's white crab apple tree get bugs on it or worms dropping?    I love the flowers but wonder about the bugs.  I have seen pink and red and white.   I think I like the white the best.

Lila Mae was a big girl at the dentist office today.

Here are some pictures of her at the dentist.

I got everything done today that I needed.  Even laundry.  ;D

I can't believe it is 9:20 already.  Feels like 7:00.

Karmat~This whole year is going by fast for me.  I want it to slow down some.  Hope you have a good sleep.

I better get ready for bed myself.

Night all!

Ruth Ann...A while back I was dizzy.   I had every test there was.   Then I went to a chiropractor who uses the activator and he found the atlas was out.   After one adjustment, I was fine.   Check it out.

When I found out my blood type, which is A, I have been following a diet for my blood type, by Dr. D'Adamo.   It is a great book and there are certain foods I should not eat if I want to feel good.   So we will see.   I shouldn't eat foods like potatoes, tomatoes, oranges or red meat.   I should be a vegetarian according to this book.

I know I will lose a few pounds if I stick to this diet.

I seen that book before.  I don't think I could stick with any diet.  I would rather work out till I can't stand up anymore before I stop eating foods I like. ;-)
Hope it all works out well for you. :-)
