Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Is Transfigured
Luke 9:28-45  NLT

28About eight days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John to a mountain to pray. 29And as he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothing became dazzling white. 30Then two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared and began talking with Jesus. 31They were glorious to see. And they were speaking of how he was about to fulfill God's plan by dying in Jerusalem.

32Peter and the others were very drowsy and had fallen asleep. Now they woke up and saw Jesus' glory and the two men standing with him. 33As Moses and Elijah were starting to leave, Peter, not even knowing what he was saying, blurted out, "Master, this is wonderful! We will make three shrines--one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." 34But even as he was saying this, a cloud came over them; and terror gripped them as it covered them.

35Then a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, my Chosen One. Listen to him." 36When the voice died away, Jesus was there alone. They didn't tell anyone what they had seen until long after this happened.

37The next day, after they had come down the mountain, a huge crowd met Jesus. 38A man in the crowd called out to him, "Teacher, look at my boy, who is my only son. 39An evil spirit keeps seizing him, making him scream. It throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It is always hitting and injuring him. It hardly ever leaves him alone. 40I begged your disciples to cast the spirit out, but they couldn't do it."

41"You stubborn, faithless people," Jesus said, "how long must I be with you and put up with you? Bring him here." 42As the boy came forward, the demon knocked him to the ground and threw him into a violent convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit and healed the boy. Then he gave him back to his father. 43Awe gripped the people as they saw this display of God's power.

While everyone was marveling over all the wonderful things he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples, 44"Listen to me and remember what I say. The Son of Man is going to be betrayed." 45But they didn't know what he meant. Its significance was hidden from them, so they could not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

Would you rather leave the world and be with Christ or be with Christ in the world?
Peter, James, and John experienced a wonderful moment on the mountain, and they didn't want to leave.

Sometimes we, too, have such an exciting experience we want to stay where we are--away from the reality and problems of our daily life.  Knowing that struggles await us in the valley encourages us to retreat from reality.  Yet staying on the mountaintop does not allow us to minister to others.  Instead of becoming spiritual giants, we would soon become giants of self-centeredness.

We need times of retreat and renewal but only so we can return to minister to the world.  Our faith must make sense off the mountain as well as on it.

Oh, my goodness!  I've just been bonked on the head by Etta Sue.  I've never been bonked before. :) :)  My post has taken flight.

Hope all are well and blessed and blessed and blessed.

Marilyn, I'm sorry your mower bit the dust.  I have one that just needs a tune up and probably new plugs.  I'd love to give it to you if I could get it to you.

My other post was longer, but I was just rambling along, so I'll make this one shorter.      Nita

Okay!  Let me tell you what I discovered.  I have had a trojan virus in my computer that has only been detected by XoftSpy, a spyware detector.  Earthlink's Protection Control Spyware and Anti-virus didn't find it.  Everytime I have ran Ad-Aware, it has found way too many things.  XoftSpy has found more spyware in the last week than it has the whole two years before.  I have had to reboot my pc more in the last week than the last two years.  Yesterday and today, when rebooting, I have had to click on 4 windows to End Program before it would reboot.  I ran ScanDisk, Disk Cleanup, Defrag, Ad-Aware, XoftSpy and Earthlinks AntiVirus and Spyware.....all today and still my pc was terrible!!!  I went to where XoftSpy told me the virus was at...C:/Windows/system32/lsp.dll and I couldn't delete it.  But when I put my cursor over it, it said Earthlink Company...blah, blah, blah.  So I called Earthlink.  I finally talked to an English speaking person that had me uninstall the Parental Control part in the package of Earthlink and the file is gone.  Everything is running smooth now.  I turned the Parental Control off but it was still in my pc.  It is gone now and XoftSpy shows no trojan virus now.   <3 <3 <3

I am to rise at 6 a.m. to be ready and at Greenfield by 8 a.m.  Going to Grand Rapids again.  The lady told me this evening that she is wanting to do this every week through July!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  $$$$$$$$ for me!!

See ya Friday evening!!

Etta Sue

Sorry, Nita!  I didn't see ya!!!  Will look better the next time....so sorry!!!

Nita

Etta Sue.........no worries.  I don't mind being bonked by a nice person like you. :)

Etta Sue, you do have a firewall, don't you?  I use Zone Alarm, the free version.  I know one comes with your ISP, but many guru types belive that Zone Alarm is better.

Does anyone use Google Earth?  I downloaded it so that I could show my sis, Sue, where her daughter lives in California.   I added street address and city and state, but it would never get us there. We got to Visalia, California, but it added all sort of businesses in the lift.  We didn't want that...just to see the  address, and where her grandkids' school.  How far away it was from where they lived.  I remember before when I had it (an older version I think) I could actually zoom right to my house and see the roof.

Thanks Etta Sue for this morning's devotional.  I get an email every week day from Joel Osteen and today he mentioned about sometimes we need to move from our "safe zone" to our "faith zone" and it "kinda" goes along with what you were bringing out.

Sorry, to hear about your virus problem.  I just keep my fingers crossed that I don't have such a problem as I would not know how to correct it.  It is wonderfull how all of you are doing such a great job on this web site.  I rate it as one of the best on the internet.

Blessings of this day to everyone,    Mary

Carol

Etta Sue:  Thanks for the devotions today.  and, for the note on XoftSpy.  We have about three things to combat the computer evil ones.  Isn't it sad that people waste vaulable time on trying to get your information or trying to destroy that as well.

Nita:  Here is a something for the bonk on your head!!!  Take care!  Yes, we really enjoy looking at Google earth.

Mary Frances:  Interesting idea on moving to the faith zone - from your email.

I have  coffee brewing and then it is water exercise this morning not to miss.

I feel so much better today!  I'm much, much lighter!  The reason - I unloaded all my money at the car repair yesterday!  Alls I can say is, it better STAY fixed now for a while!

Nita - I too offer you some linament for the bonk.  Gotta return the car today that we borrowed from our dear friends.  Oh how wonderful is the love of God's people for one another!  We count the kids of this dear family as our "extra" grandkids, and their mother Leslie as our wonderful, loving "extra" daughter.

Hi everyone.  I picked up my car a little while ago and then had about 45 minutes for coffee at the cafe.  I sure hope the two major repairs they did will solve my starting and shifting problems.  So far so good.  We are going to travel at the end of the month and I want to use our car rather than having to lease one as the cost of the lease will help offset the fuel costs.  The car should be ready for being on the road now and, hopefully, will be reliable.

The sun was out earlier but it is now a bit overcast.  They weather man said we might see some showers this afternoon.  It is suppose to really warm up later in the week.  I am ready as had a very hard time getting my lower legs and feet warm during the night.  I finally got enough blankets on the bed to get warm.  Guess my heart isn't circulating the blood well enough.  I told my wife I was about ready to put the electric blanket back on the bed. :)

Carol, we used to enjoy doing the water exercises.  I hope the pool is heated. It sounds like you will have a fun week coming up with your grandchildren.  I am sure they will keep you busy.  Fortunately Pat's sewing machine started.  It just hadn't had a tune up for sometimes.  She has a 913 Bernina and wants to take good care of it as they aren't making those anymore.  She also has a portable Bernia that she had tuned up last month.  Yesterday Pat got an e-mail showing the quilts that the quilt guild had made to give to the childrens hospital.  If you like I will see if I can send you the e-mail with the photos attached as you have high speed internet so it should be any problem.  There were over 200 quilts made and donated.

Mary Frances I know what you mean about not wanting to get a virus in your computer.  Those can really create problems.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional.  Glad you finally figured out the problem.  It is a shame the problem was caused by Earthlink software.  Sometimes we are so protected by others rather than having the options presented first such as whether we need to have a parental control running.  You are like we are in that no children ever access our computers so don't need these protections.

Nita, I have used the Google Earth and it is really neat.  I believe, unless they have changed the software since I used it, that over on the left side you should be able to turn off features such as showing businesses or or even streets.  Some of their maps are several years old.  I had no trouble finding my house and this area where I live.  However, I tried to find my sisters place in rural Northern Iowa and there was no detail available.  I am constantly amazed at what is available to us on these computers.

Pat, glad to see that your headache is gone.  I did vote in the poll.

JudyB, it is nice to know that you daughter is maturing in her spiritual growth.  It sounds like that wedding would be out of my range to attend.  It seems very inconsiderate to plan a wedding like that--just my opinion.

Guess I had better move on to some other projects.  I have Calvin Cove this afternoon and then this evening Pat and I are going to play bingo at the clubhouse of our friend's home.

Al, we were posting at the same time and do I ever know what you mean as I just paid for major car repair a couple of hours ago.  I hope both of our cars run a long time before needing futher repair.

Pat, I checked and the map shows fine with IE7 Beta.

Marilyn

Good Morning, After reading Etta Sues devotional and  post I decided I better do some scans on my computer. I had some spyware but that was it.

Low fog here today and some rain expected  over the weekend.

Yesterday AT&T called me and wants me to switch from cable to  DSL but I would have to sign up for a full year, plus pay or the modem. I got the modem free from the cable company so I don't think  will be  switching.

The vote last night passed and they will be getting the $50,000 loan.  Oh well I guess my vote didn't count for much. There were only 3 no votes.

Larry and Al I hope your repairs are done well and that will be the end for a long time.

Gotta go now.

:coffee: Good mornin' all! Sorry to hear about the Mower Marilyn. Etta Sue, those programs are dispicable! I hope your PC stays clean and virus free now! I can't stay long today...still so much to do! Thank you for your comments and prayers about this move, they both help a great deal in dealing with the whole thing. Y'all have a fabulous day!

Marilyn

What no one has been here since this morning? I have been busy. Finished up the sewing for Fay today, I am so glad for that. Then I went to help Jan pick up her cat from the vet and we went to lunch too. Then when I got home I walked the dogs and made a Tuna casserole. ow I am relaxing before I go out to weed whack a little bit, I charged the weed eater last night.

Larry:  We have a " good enough" speed on the computer so I should be able to see the quilts.  Would love to see those photos.

Marilyn:  I spent most of the afternoon sewing as well - am making four table runners for gifts.

I called a cousin - I have to be in the right frame of mind to call her as she normally says one or two things that bring me down.  She was OK today.  She has been busy working for church & is a good person - just that little hangup of having to be a better person than a few other people.

Now the washing is done & cleaning of the house too - we are going to grandsit tomorrow until next Thursday.  Don has a bit of a cold but he feels he can come along, boy, I sure hope he can come with me.

Hi Folks!

I've had a very busy day running around town and seeing the doctor and lots of "stuff".

It was so wet too.  My goodness it's been "bucketing down" here with the rain.  Thunder and lightening too.

Anyway, nice to see you posting.

Have you all had a look at the Koinonia Gallery of Anna's?

Now my phone is ringing.  Been like this all day...
