Morning Devotional...The heavens declare the glory of God. Psalm 19:1
As the first rays of morning light broke in a spray of colour across the
sky, I wondered what the first glow of creation's dawning must have been like.
Look up today, into the heavens and hear them declare the glory of
the One who upholds all things by the Word of His power.
Lord of Heaven and Earth, we commit this day and ourselves to You.
May Your perfect will be done in and through us, for Your glory and for Your honour.

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.
Chorus
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"
Chorus

We are home again, with broken hearts. NO, Marilyn, I did NOT "go to sleep early and forget to post the devotional", I was in Amarillo with Beth.
We got only bad news. There is nothing they can do for poor Beth. And now she is so weak, she can barely hold a fork and feed herself. :'( She had tests, lots of tests: myleogram, CT scan, Brain MRI, sonogram of thyroid, bioply of thyroid. Nothing is conclusive, meaning no one thing can account for her dramatic decline. And since there isn't any specific thing, then no surgery is indicated.
Her doctors told her she can no longer live at home; that we, as her parents can no longer care for her, for her safety as well as our health. She has to consider placement at this time. She railed and cried and fought against it, but in the end there was no other choice. So they dismissed her to swing bed in our local hospital until her local doctor gets home on Monday, then arrangements will be made for her to move into the care home here. She and I have both cried buckets of tears this week. :'( :'( :'( Why is life so hard sometimes?
I just pray that we will all be able to handle this, and will learn what He wants us to from the experience. And that we will be able to minister to others because of going through such pain.
When we left her at the hospital tonight, we were both crying again............... :'( :'(

Janet ... My heart is breaking along with yours. :'( I am so sorry and I wish there were answers for this question. Such pain for all concerned and yet we have to believe that our Father knows and understands and has all things in control. Please know that I am praying for you (all) that you will find that place of peace and be able to "cast your cares upon Him" ... He really does care for you! I know ... I know ...
Janet, I am so sorry for Beth and you and your family. This was certainly not what you wanted to hear. Hopefully in the long run Beth will adjust to her new environment and come to realize that she is where she needs to be to get the care and to assure there are always folks available to help her when she needs it. You live in a small midwest community and I certainly hope your experience with the care facility will be as good as what we had with my folks in NW Missouri and then Northern Iowa. We are all aching and praying for you today as this news sinks in. May you all find peace with the decision.
It is time to go for Friday men's coffee. I open the senior center and get the coffee started.
Janet: Such a sad time for you and for your Beth. Now she will get the care she needs without affecting your health as well. I send my prayers for all.
Well, I have a dilemna here having awakened with a swollen, aching foot. I can't bend my toes. Normally, this sort of thing wouldn't be a problem but I have to make a decision right away as we leave for grandsitting this afternoon and will be away for six days. If I only knew if a bone was really broken in that foot then I need a cast. It is too early to see any foot clinic too.
Carol
We (and certainly you, Janet) have prayed for Beth for so long! If we did not have eternity as a backdrop to all this, it would indeed be unbearable. But we do. This life is oftimes hard, but hereafter is perfect and eternal. Oh "trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." Sometimes we simply cannot place our trust elsewhere, because there is nowhere else. He cares, Janet. His perfect will shall be done.
Carol - God grant you grace and wisdom to do His best for you. I pray for the healing of your foot.
Janet I did not know who was to post the NEM and I hope you took that in the light hearted attitude that it was written. I am so sorry to hear this bad news about Beth, I have been praying for her and you and will continue to do so. God is in control. I am reading Job and am reminded daily of the love that God has for us.
Carol I am praying for your foot not to be broken and for the swelling to go down immediately.
Hello Jane good to see you here this morning, well it was last night when you posted.
Hi Larry and Al.
Janet, I join the others here in expressing our sorrow at this latest developement regarding Beth. We have three daughters and I know how the love for our children is so strong. When they suffer we suffer along with them. May God bless you and Beth at this time.
Many years ago we had to put our mother in a nursing home. She didn't want to go but there was no other way we ould care for her. But the time came when she accepted it and found comfort in her last years. For over a year before she passed away she did not know us and that was hard. But we know now she is at home with the Lord and we expect to see her again when our time comes.
2 Cor 1:3-5
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
5 For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. (NIV)
Papa John
Janet I am so sorry. There are times that life seems so unfair. Just remember God is soverign and is in control. I am continuing to pray for you both.
It is +9 here. c c c cold and rainy and damp. A rough start for a holiday weekend.
Melaura has gone to Pitch and praise, I can't wait to see what she comes back with.
The icecream treat i like the all time best is the Dairy Queen Blizzard, and the favourite flavour is the pecan crunch. Problem is it loves me too, it never leaves my body!
Well I am going I have a lot to do, so Bye for now.
:grouphug:
Oh, my dear Janet. Words fail me right now. I'm weeping with you at this news.
I'll continue to pray for you and Beth and we'll be in touch via Yahoo.
Just a hug for you, :grouphug:
Praying with the rest for you Janet.
Janet, a poem that helped me when I found out just how ill my dear husband was...
The Weaver
Anonymous
My life is but a weaving, between my God and me,
I do not choose the colors, He worketh steadily.
Ofttimes he weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper, and I the underside.
Not till the loom is silent, and the shuttles cease to fly,
Will God unroll the canvas, and explain the reasons why
The dark threads are as needful in the skillful weaver's hand
As threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.
He knows, He loves, He cares,
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives His very best to those
Who leave the choice with Him.
:grouphug:
Praying for you and Darrel and Beth at this time Janet.... my love and thoughts are with you as well as this sorrowful time.
Big hugs and thank yous to all of you dear friends. I know the sun will shine again in my life, but just now, the tears don't want to stop flowing.....
"Weeping may endure for the night, but joy cometh in the morning."
Oh, dear Janet. I can't imagine your pain, and my heart is breaking for you.
I'm praying for you and Beth, and Darrel.......for all your family. Weeping is something our Lord gave us to express what's in the heart. Jesus wept. I believe that tears are a form of deepest prayer and intercession. I don't have words now. I'm just heartbroken with you. I know we'll all be praying and holding you and Beth as this painful journey unfolds.
I keep saying, "God, you know. You know." God is love and this must hurt Him too. So much we don't understand. Nita
Janet, there's nothing I can add that hasn't already been said. :'( You know I have you and all your family in my heart and above all in my prayers.
Ice cream? I don't really like it, except once or twice during the summer a small cone of "soft" ice cream. And I never buy from the ice cream truck.
Janet,
In Japan, on the road, in church, wherever I will be, I will remember to pray for you and your precious daughter today.
You are both in His Grip. No matter what life has dealt you, you are in His Grip.
Me, too.
Kevin
"To everything there is a season
A time for every purpose
under heaven...A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is
planted...A time to break down
And a time to build up..."
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Last night I woke up and for some reason felt a strong need to pray for you & Beth, Janet. Have only now come on the computer and realize the reason why!
I am so sorry that this is happening to Beth. Understand your pain as a mother. Now you must be very strong and help her to realize that God has not deserted her, only opened another chapter in her life.
God Bless,
Liz

Janet oh dear Janet, I have been praying for yo all day.....but at times that seems to be so little. Dennis has a saying, "You may not enjoy every day, but you will enjoy every season!" This is a new season in your and Beth's life, Pick out the little pleasures and enjoy them. They are there, the little pleasures, from a Heavenly Father who loves you both so much.
Pat I teared up at your poem. A quick question I have for our Father. Why does the weaving have to hurt so much?
The weather has not improved at all today. Rain, drizzle, fog, yucky weather. We are getting a neighbour to plough our garden and expect it to be done by the beginning of next week. It will be bigger this year as Bonnie has asked for some produce to put in her freezer as well. Our tiller is in for srevice. It will keep the rows tilled as we work on them this year. Anything you would like us to plant Pat?
I am off and running, John and Rick are taking the girls for a ride to get their tractors, and they will be off early tomorrow.
Bye for now

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me.
Summer and winter and spring-time and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Refrain
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

It's a holiday weekend here in Canada--the first of the summer. 45 years ago tomorrow was such a hot day. I nearly melted away in my wedding dress. Do you remember that Judy and Ruthie?
Anyway, I got an umbrella today to go with my table so now I just need some sun! It says it's a tilting umbrella but I don't know how that works.
Jeanne, the "ice cream truck" was just said "tongue in cheek"
Looks like most like the drumstick. It's my favourite too. :)
Lotsa drumstick folks on this site. :) I'm one of them. IF I bought from a truck, that'd be it.
Pat, what's a bomb popsicle?
I think it's an extra large one. Remember when popsicles were 5 cents?
Ohhhhh, I'm dating myself.
I remember when candy bars and chewing gum was 5 cents. Gas was 15 cents a gallon.
I have been so busy since I came home from work. I have cleaned my house and now I can put up my curtain rods and curtains that I got from layaway today. I have Venetian blinds on the windows that came with the house. But I now will have my curtains. I will take photos. I have been here 8 months now and still working on putting it all together.
The dogs haven't had a walk yet and I don't think I am going to be taking them today.
Laters
Pat, that poem was just plain beautiful! Thank you so very much for posting it.
I think I might get venetian blinds for my bedroom, Marilyn.
Al, that was a poem that Jack referred to most days that he was ill.
Yes Pat I remember that day.... Oh so well. Do you remember Lena came over for the summer, in time for your wedding. Remember Aunt Margaret's comment about the angel singing? Remember Mr, Penny, you didn't know if he would remember to turn the page? You made a judgment call, and it was the right call. Yes I remember. Ruthie Remember the little girl who was the star of the reception?
Talking about remembering, I was grocery shopping with John and he picked up a tin of Lyles Treacle. I was transported back many years, to a time when Granny, Mom and I were in Chester England, and she (Granny) made her and I a treacle butty. Oh those were happy days. I think I will pick a tin up and indulge.
I am alone tonight. It is a time for relaxing.
Have a good night folks!

Janet, this little puppy looks the way I feel after hearing your news. My heart breaks for you and Beth and Darrel. In a way, Beth going to a home is a relief for you but I understand Beth also. God Bless All of You.
The trip to Grand Rapids and back was delightful. No missed turns this time. I put waypoints into my GPS so that I would stay on the State Highway I wanted...then the GPS would beep before I was to turn. Didn't miss any turns.
But thank God, God was with me this evening. I came home by way of over an Interstate. As I approached the overpass, two lanes of cars were sitting at the left of the highway waiting to turn on my road. I thought the first one was going to go across in front of me but that one turned and went the opposite direction than the way I was going. BUT the lady on his left came out on the highway right in front of me. God had to be driving the car with me because I would never have thought to swerve to the right and then speed up to avoid this lady that was crossing the highway to go on the entrance ramp to the interstate. I know we didn't miss crashing by more than a couple of inches. If my car hadn't have went faster she would have hit me broadside. Afterwards I was shaking like a leaf and the lady went on across the road as if nothing happened at all!!!
So thank you God for keeping me safe.<_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_>

I just can't tell you how sweet it is to read the messages from Pastor Al and Marilyn saying their special prayers just for my little foot problem. You know - it works - it is much better tonight. Thank you dear ones. <3
Janet: My thoughts keep returning to you. So many praying and so many sending you the inspirational poems and other notes that kept them going through the toughest of times.
Larry: I can't forget that your daughter needs our prayers as well.
We are at daughter's house and we will be here for a week. They have a schedule of all of the happenings so it makes the daily routine easier when we have something to check off. Lots of hockey, a two day camping trip, tennis & school, of course.
Carol
Etta Sue: That was too much of a close call. I am sure your angel was in charge!!!
Oh, Etta Sue. Yes, thank the Lord for guiding you and keeping you safe. We do have a wonderful Father.
Carol, "a little foot problem" isn't so little. So happy that it's much better.
Well, it looks as if we're a "drumstick" crowd!
