Morning Devotional...

The Lord hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.
1 Samuel 14:12

Relying on the Lord's help only, Jonathan was assured of victory, for divine capability is not dependent on human strength or numbers.

Although the battle was effectively won before it began, realization of the victory required someone to act in faith.

So Jonathan and his armorbearer attacked and triumphed.

Are you prepared to act in faith and see God do great things?

Morning everyone - hope you all are keeping well today.
I had a better day yesterday - and even slept for a few hours last night - so feel i am finally on the mend. Thankyou for all your prayers and good wishes - AND THANK THE LORD for my healing.
Its another beautiful day here in England - summer has well and truly arrived.
Shall pop back in later to read your posts (as obviously none of you are up yet - its only 2.00 a.m. there.)
Love from chris

Pat Paul was writing to Timothy -

Let no man despise thy youth; but be an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1 TIMOTHY, CHAPTER 4, VERSE 12.

I like the NIV version aswell -

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

            What keeps me from self-pity

MARK 5 : 19 NIV
Jesus did not let him [the man from whom He
had cast out demons] come with Him, but said,
"Go home to your family and tell them how much
the Lord has done for you, and how he has mercy
on you".

This man has been given back his life,
ransomed from the power of Satan and the grave.
How will he use it? Simple.
He will go tell in his family what the Lord
has done for him.
Isn't that what we need to be doing with
the unbelievers in our families?

Prayer

Fahter, bless me as i seek to share my faith
and your salvation with those in my family
who have not yet called on Jesus as Lord
and have not yet surrender their lives to Him.
Help me not to push them fahter away,
but instead help them see all the ways
you have blessed my life.
In Jesus name i pray   AMEN
                                                 PHIL WARE

Bye love Ria

If someone from you don't like that i put this devotionals

I'm reading them Ria.  Hi Chris.  Glad you're feeling a bit improved.  God our Father gives us every measure of health we enjoy.  Let's thank Him for it!

Ruth Ann - I wonder if you've considered what Medicare will do for you when you're 65.  You may not need your employee health insurance.  I didn't.  I was far better off simply having Medicare and a supplement (Blue Cross).  It's worth looking into.

Thanks, Al. Actually, I was kinda wishing I could retire in July at age 64. Doesn't look like it can happen - too expensive.

Thanks for the prayers about the dizziness. I think I may begin to agree with the doctor. I've identified that it's when I'm lying all scrunched up on my right side that I get the dizziness.

Last night I tried my best to lie straighter and the dizziness wasn't nearly as bad. I'll keep experimenting with this, so maybe I can tell the doctors next week what I think. (As if they'll listen!)

Judy, you asked about Leslie. He is still having a most difficult time of it. Three or more days in bed each week. We heard from one of his doctors yesterday, though, that the conversation with the Social Security person was quite positive and that they're leaning toward approving the disability this first time through the loop.

That would certainly be great news.

Y'all have a good day. I overslept, so I've gotta hustle if I make it to work somewhat on time. :P

YOU'RE CORRECT CHRIS!

That's the right answer!  Good job!

Chris, I'm so glad that you're starting to feel better now.  But we'll keep on praying for you.  Now, when you get all better, I sure hope that you keep on coming in here.  ;D

Ruth Ann, how do you manage to drive the car if you're this dizzy?  I hope that this leaves you soon.  Hopefully it's not Ménières syndrome.

Hello, friends.  I am feeling really sluggish today.  I went to swim and it was a struggle, I wound up stopping four laps short of what I usually do.

Ria, your devotionals are great.  I enjoy them.

Ruth Ann, I hope Leslie does get approved the first try, but it will be nothing short of a miracle if he does.  Beth is still waiting for her first check..........I plan to call the SS office today and see if they can tell me anything.  If not, then I will pursue other avenues.

I need to go to town and run some errands.  We picked up things for my sister and for a friend at Sam's yesterday, so I need to deliver those.  Also, my Mom called yesterday, said she wanted to talk to me, so will go see what she needs.

I will be back later, hopefully with a little more energy.

Ria: I look forward to seeing you every day and I to enjoy reading your devotional.

Pat: Again thanks for all of your work on CP

I have a question:
Most of you folk have digital camera's and something I found interesting was a person at Wal-Mart Photo Center saying that in her opinion these camera's take a grainier picture and that she still prefers the other type of camera best.  She claims that she can see the difference, although to me I don't using this site as my example.

Hi everyone.  I didn't go to walk this morning or to coffee and had to get Pat over to the medical office for a 9:30 am repeat of the test they did a couple of weeks ago.  It took us almost 1 1/2 hours to get there on the Atlanta Interstates as the traffic is really bad that time of the day.  The test took maybe 5 minutes and she didn't have to have the dye injected into her veins this time.

We stopped on the way home and had an early lunch at I-HOP.  I am going to have to take a little nap as seem to be worn out from the trip this morning.

This afternoon the contractor is coming to take some measurements.  We have decided to put our room addition on hold as keep running into problem but to go ahead and have a closet built upstairs in our bonus room (which is just a finished room above the garage) and have a heat pump put in for that area as it gets both very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter.

We are also going to have some pull-outs fixed in our lower kitchen cabinets as it is hard to get things from the back of the cabinets.  Finally we will have a second railing added to the stairs to the bonus room so our daugher will be able to hold on to both sides in coming up and down the stairs and perhaps get a laundry shoot fixed to go into the laundry room.  We may still later have to build on.

I have read all the postings.  Etta Sue, hope you have a big turnout for your get together.  Know you have worked hard on it and your yard sounds beautiful.

Janet, it sounds like you need a day of rest to finish getting over the food poisoning.  Your body needs to recover a bit before you push it too hard.

Ruth Ann, sure hope your son gets his disability approved.  My sister-in-law was able to get hers approved on the first try.  Hope your dizziness can be brought under control.

Ria, I also like the devotional materials you post.  PLease don't stop.  I also like the nice colorful postings you make.

Chris, sure glad you are feeling better and hope you will soon be able to return to your work.  Please say hi to your mother for me.  I miss her postings here on the CP site.

Well I feel that nap coming on.

Have you ever complained about the pesky dandilion? :o

It doesn't matter how high the grass is this "weed" always rises above its circumstances. ;D

Papa John, I just looked at your photos and they are really terrific!  Thanks for sharing them with us all.

Ruth, it depends on how many megapixels you get in the digital cameral.  I've been posting photos for the SeniorNet folks for a few years now and some of them are really terrible as they only have maybe 1 mega pixel but those that are taken with the higher number of mega pixels get better and better in quality.

Thanks for posting today, Ladybug!

Hey, all of you!  Crazy day for me, not incredibly busy, just crazy.

Karma, on the other hand, has been incredibly busy and will continue to be until about 9:30 tonight.  It's a really wild week for her.

Someone asked about "grainy" digital cameras.  It's all about camera resolution and lens quality.  A 35mm negative will enlarge to about 17x22 before the "grain" starts to show, especially with modern films.  Some of the higher ISO films won't enlarge that well, going only to 11x14 or something like that before the grain gets obvious (higher ISOs have more grain, so the grain shows up at smaller print sizes.

Digital cameras with 5 megapixel sensors are easily capable of satisfactory enlargement up to 11x14.  Even larger sizes are possible, but the "grain" (with a digital, it's actually "pixellation") starts showing up sometime after that, depending on the ISO sensitivity of the camera on a given shot, etc.

As far as print quality goes, it is virtually impossible to tell the difference when looking at pictures on the web.  In a lot of cases, digital pictures look BETTER on the web because they have not been scanned.  Only the pros and the really good photo labs can afford to have film pictures scanned at maximum resolution (probably about 3000x3500) and nobody posts them on the web at that rez anyway.  Definitely not on CP, because of our limits.

The other variation is lens quality.  Buy a cheap camera, and you get a cheap lens.  Always.  Buy an expensive camera, and the lens will nearly always be better.  Not always, but nearly.  Sometimes expensive SLRs are sold with cheap lenses as "kits".  But, if you buy an expensive point and shoot digital, you get a good lens.  By expensive, I mean $500 plus.  Otherwise, the lens is probably the worst part of the camera.  if you buy a cheap film camera, you get a cheap lens, but film is a little more forgiving of cheap lenses if you only make 4x6 prints.  Cheap lenses make grainier pictures.  Cheap cameras make less sharp pictures (focus) so they look grainier.

There's a lot to that question, but the basic question is whether you want to make prints or post photos on the net.  If you NEVER want prints, digital is definitely the way to go.  If you always want prints but don't care much about posting on the net, get a film camera, because it will be cheaper, but the processing will eat you alive.  If you want to post a picture every now and then, it's going to be aggravating if you are shooting film and don't have a scanner or pay Walmart extra to put your pictures on disk.

My advice?  Buy a digital.  It's the best all around tool, and the quality is EXCELLENT these days.  Only if you want to enlarge above 8x10 is it really a concern.  If you never enlarge your shots, a 2 megapixel is a great camera.

Film is becoming the tool of a FEW pros, and that's going away.  Go digital.  The salesperson had just enough knowledge to be dangerous, and probably has never really worked with digital.  Film is great, but the cost is just too high in the end and it's not worth it in my opinion.

Bye for now!

Marvelous Grace (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/marvelousgrace.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary's mount outpoured,
there where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.

Chorus:
Grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that is greater than all our sin!

Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold,
threaten the soul with infinite loss;
grace that is greater, yes, grace untold,
points to the refuge, the mighty cross.

Chorus:
Grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that is greater than all our sin!

Dark is the stain that we cannot hide.
What can avail to wash it away?
Look! There is flowing a crimson tide,
brighter than snow you may be today.

Chorus:
Grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
grace, grace, God's grace,
grace that is greater than all our sin!

What a day! I woke up this morning and cleaned my house like a madwomen because I invited some friends over from our local homeschooling group to our home for a playdate with the kids. Well I thought it was today. Turns out it was next Wed. So I pushed and pushed for nothing. LOL. Actually not nothing my house is fairly  nice right now. LOL.
Anyway, please pray for me. My legs are arms are still bugging me and I know it's part of MS but I just can't accept this disease. I have tried and just can't.
I have some new photos I took of the kids I will try and get to Pat to share later. They turned out very cute.

Okay I'm off for now. Have a blessed day all.

We are going to our mid-week service tonight to hear a report by two Doctors who will be talking about their latest medical mission to Nigeria.  Parents of one of the doctors is a member of our church.

Matt 28:18-20
18   Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19   Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20   and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.""

Pat, you asked about driving with the dizziness. It ONLY occurs when I'm either leaning back in a recliner or lying down in bed at night.

I'm not dizzy when upright during the day.

That's what's puzzling the doctor so much.

Hi all!  At work subbing for my sister tonight (normally don't work on Wednesday nights, but with the hours being cut, thought it might be a good idea).

I will point out that behind glass, in a frame, an 8X10, printed on a home printer, a picture with our little sony (1.2 mp) looks okay.  I have a couple of 11X14 digi prints I would put up next to a film print, especially behind glass.  The only way to really tell the difference is to get very, very close or use a loupe or magnifying glass.

With the bigger cameras coming out, the difference is going to get even less.  However, there is nothing digital, yet, that compares with a medium or large format camera.  I believe all comparisons are made with 35mm.

Gotta go work.

Take care!

I shut Ali and Inky in Jerry's room because one of the ladies has an allergy to cats.  They did superb until the prayer at the last...Ali and Inky seranaded the prayer with MEOWS!

Dennis and Julie came today and finished their part on the landscaping.  Now I am waiting on Tony to bring the rocks!!!!  I can't complain since the rocks are free~!!!!

Jerry has gone home.  Bless his heart, he really helped me a lot in getting my house and yard ready and in helping with the landscaping.  I plan to take him on a two day trip next week.

Nice devotional, Pat.  I am enjoying the posts in reply to your questions.  What a nice idea!  Also, much thanks for posting my photo's in the various sites.

Ria, I love your poems and devotionals.  Please keep up the wonderful contributions.  This person is certainly blessed by your posts.

I am still limping around and waiting for the Arthritis to once again subside.  Have been royally entertained by Miss Squeekers as she loves spending time in my part of the house....Has breakfast with me and dinner with the kids.

Wendy and I go to Farmers Market on Wed. and then she goes for Physio while I run errands.  In this case, limp errands.  We also stopped at the Sally Anne as she collects records (LP) and I found a couple of good books for real cheap!  One is to help my Golf Game and the other to help my soul (Golf for Dummies and I'm Glad You Know Where We're Going, Lord).

Speaking of going:

A speeding motorist was caught by radar from a police helicopter in the sky.  An officer pulled him over and began to issue a traffic ticket.
"It seems everyone is out to get me lately.  How did you know I was speeding?" the frustrated driver asked.
The police officer pointed somberly toward the sky.
"You mean,"  asked the motorist, " that I'm not just being paranoid?  Even HE is trying to get me?"

Well, it was just a little joke.
Nice to see you posting Chris.  Please say Hi to your Mom for me.  I also miss her posts.

Pleasant evening to all and God Bless.
Liz

I just had a phone call!!

CHRIS AND MARGIT just called from Santa Monica, California!

And I recognized his voice.

They sure enjoyed the lunch with both you, Marilyn and the Moaks!  They fly out of Los Angeles on May 25 and head home with a stop over of a couple of hours in Philadelphia.

They both said to please say "Hello" to all on CP and that it won't be long till they start posting again.

Boy, it was nice to hear their voices.

Hayley, thanks so much for sharing with the folks about our wee Emma.  I've been praying for her since I first got your email.

(Could someone please make sure that Hayley's prayer request is put into our Prayer Requests area so that everyone will see it?  Thanks!)

Hope everyone is having a lovely evening... afternoon... night...  whatever part of the day you're in.   ;D

We sure have had a round of thunderstorms lately.  They seem to have started early this year, but then so have the hot and humid days and that's usually what sets them off.  Not today, though, and the next two or three days look pretty mild and calm, too.

I didn't get online at all yesterday, just spent some time working on the town's web page on my own computer and trying to get some cleaning done.  Then last night both Gene and I had meetings - his bible study group and I went to an American Legion Auxiliary meeting.  The local ALA has just started back up this past year with all ladies who've never belonged before and I've been trying to help them out, advising about protocol and committees, etc., answering questions about all sorts of stuff.  Might as well make use of my 22 years experience in the organization.   ;D

Kneel at the Cross  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/kneel-at-the-cross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confesss that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11

by Charles. E. Moody

Kneel at the cross,
Christ will meet you there,
Come while he waits for you;
List to his voice,
Leave with him your care
And begin life a new.

Refrain
Kneel at the cross,
Leave every care
Kneel at the cross,
Jesus will meet you there.

Kneel at the cross,
Give your idols up,
Look unto realms above;
Turn not away
To life's sparkling cup;
Trust only in His love.

Refrain

Nards. Pat & Karmat you all have given me so much info, now I have an idea of what to look for in a new camera and how to make comparisons as well.

Thanks to all of you here.

Hi Ruth-I love my digital camera-now you can take your card to walmart-costco or a similar place and print out your pictures-ive done it many times with my new camera-and to honestly tell you -they print out just as good or even better-I really do think it depends on the kind of camera you have and how much you want to spend on one. I have a 5 Megapixel and I can zoom up to 12 x. I paid around 399 for it.
Rachelle

I have a question:
Most of you folk have digital camera's and something I found interesting was a person at Wal-Mart Photo Center saying that in her opinion these camera's take a grainier picture and that she still prefers the other type of camera best.  She claims that she can see the difference, although to me I don't using this site as my example.
