Morning Devotional...

She waited on Naaman's wife.
2 Kings 5:2

Naaman must have seen something unique in this little maid.

Since she was a Hebrew captive, he could have done the most vile things possible to her. But in God's sovereign will, he chose to put her into the place of intimacy, in his own home next to his wife!

And it was there that she was able to hear and to help his wife.

The little maid would have heard Naaman's wife's tears and fears as she mourned over her husband's fate.

Our circumstances may not seem much better. Great! Perhaps God has placed you near someone to help.

Listen for the sighs of the sinner!
--Craig Funston

Circumstances? How we pet them,
how we give them right of way;
But the Master never planned that
we should be beneath their sway.

ACTS 5 : 29 NIV
Peter and the other apostles replied:
"We must obey God rather than men.

Against a stern warning from the ruling
council in Jerusalem, called the Sanhedrin,
Peter and the apostles proclaimed Jesus as Lord.
They knew that Jesus had triumphed over the
attempts of His enemies to extinguish Him and
His ministry.
The apostles blatantly disobeyed the orders
of the same people who had Jesus crucified.
By any standard, that is faithful courage.
How are you doing in the "standing up for Jesus"
battle?

PRAYER...
Lord God Almighty,
please empower me by
your Spirit to be courageous.
I do not want to ever back
down from my convictions
nor ever renounce my faith
in Jesus, in whose name
i pray.     AMEN

                                       Phil Ware.

Hello, everyone!  Praise God the Internet is actually working well today!  Of course, it's a holiday weekend that I hope to spend a lot of outside, but it's still nice to have this working okay.

We might get to go to the local airport to see some of the Confederate Air Force World War II warbirds that are there for the Memorial Day Weekend.  They have three there.  They will actually take you up for a ride, that is if you have at least $400 to spend!  :)

Thanks go out to all the brave soldiers who died for my freedom.  God bless the families left behind.

I hope all of you have a great day!

Good Morning Folks!

It's a beautiful day here in Guelph.  I may be able to go and get a spool for my electric trimmer and get some trimming down outside.

Ria, Photo-Sense is a lovely site.  We're just wanting people to know about it so that for a very little amount of money they can share their photos with their friends in two ways--posting on CP and also sharing the URL so that they can see the photos on the site that you purchase.  But Yes, I'll still post for you.  I'm sorry that you can't read the type over at that site.

Glad you have internet access for a little while, Nards and Karma!  Horrible when it keeps on going down for you.

Hi everyone.  This is the weekend for special remembrance of our veterans and their familes who have and continue to sacrifice for our protection and freedom. With the World War II Memorial opening in Washington, DC this weekend perhaps it will cause more people to focus on what we as a people owe to our soldiers.

Pat, I guess I am missing something but I need someone to explain this quote from the devotional:

QuoteDeny sloth not only continuance, but countenance.
~Thomas Adams~

I had a very strange occurrence this morning.  I had been standing outside for probably 30 minutes talking to my next door neighbor and the neighbor across the street.  All of a sudden I had the feeling I was floating and became a bit dizzy.  I told them I had to go into the house and sit down.  By the time I got into the house the little spell was over.  I think my blood pressure had suddenly dropped and when I took it it was on 93/54.  Really a strange feeling.

The contractor is here again this morning but will not work too long today and then will not be back until Tuesday.  He is doing very nice work and we are very happy with his work.

Marilyn, hope you like your new neighbors.  Know you will like the dogs. :D

Pat, please don't overdo with your trimming today.  It is already beginning to warm up down here and our mornings are no longer cool.

Nards and Karma glad to read that your Internet connection is working again.  These things can be very frustrating.

Ria, it sounds like you will have a pretty quiet day at the bookstore.  Are you able to browse the books if you are not busy?

Janet, do hope Darrell is feeling much better today.

Have a blessed week all.

I'm happy to be here!  Our internet connection was acting up last evening and still this morning.  So I had Darrel call them again, and this time they put in a new Cable Modem Box.  It's working now, and I sure hope it continues.  I know how frustrated you must get, Nards and Karma--it is very annoying when you can't get online.

Thank you, Sonja, Ria and Larry for asking about Darrel.  He seems to feel a bit better today, still quite congested and draggy feeling.  He thinks it is a summer cold.

Pat, is that $10 a month, a year, or just a one time charge, for Photo Sense?  Last time I went there I got frustrated because I couldn't figure out how to find and read the comments that had been made or where to leave comments.  I haven't been back lately.  I am not as computer savvy as I would like to be.

Abby and I went on the annual wildflower walk this morning.  We were out for about three hours, and I feel wind-whipped and sunburned.  But it is a very educational tour, conducted by two or three local people who have interest in and study wildflowers.  They gave us a two page list of the ones in our area, and we checked them off as we found them.  A lot of them I would never give a second glance, thinking they are just weeds.  But I guess even weeds have a purpose in this world, if you just knew what it is!

Today is my mother's 88th birthday, and I met my sister and niece for lunch with her.  Beth and Abby were there, too.  Mom said she has heard from all of her kids today, so that made her happy.  There are still 4 daughters and a son living.

I need to get the flowers ready and go to the cemetery later.  Darrel's Mom is 91 now, and decided to turn that job of decorating the graves over to me this year.  Usually she and her daughter drive up from Amarillo to do it, but not this year.  I am going to wait until later this evening and hope the wind dies down and that it won't be so hot then.

Larry, that is a low blood pressure!  Please take good care of yourself, we love having you here, brother.

I think I might just lie down and rest a little while.  See you later!

Still on.  Beautiful weather outside.  We did see some warbirds, only two were there, though.  Travis didn't want to leave.  If we ever take him to an airshow where they actually fly alot, I'm not sure we could ever get him out!!

Think I'll try to find something useful to do now!!  laters

Good afternoon!!!

Jerry and I got home last evening at 7 p.m.  I drove 819 miles in two days.  We crossed the big Mississippi 4 times....two times was a mistake...I crossed and decided I didn't want on the Missouri side and crossed back into Illinois.

First, we stopped at Cracker Barrell in Terre Haute and called our SrNetter friend, Sally, (Whimzy).  We visited over  delicious desserts for about two hours.

We got to Sikeston, MO, around 5:30 p.m.  We ate at Lambert's...the Home of the Throwed Rolls.  Yes, they have these huge rolls baked in muffin tins.  A guy rolls them around on a push cart and yells...Throwed Rolls!  You hold up your hands and he throws them to you from across the room.  This place is similar to Cracker Barrel...wood floors, wood, tables, wood benches, wood ceilings.  The ceilings are covered with flag of the States.  The walls are covered and I mean covered with metal signs and license plates.  At your table is a coffee can with your silverware wrapped up in napkins.  There is a roll of paper towels on the table.  Your butter, sugar, salt, pepper, honey, catsup, mustard and whatever else you might need is on your table.  Soon after getting your rolls, someone comes around with a huge stainless steel bowl with fried okra.  Get a paper towel and they put the okra on your towel.  Don't get your place mat and your napkins mixed up...same thing.  Jerry ordered Sausage and Kraut with two sides.  I ordered Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and two sides.  Other pass arounds were Black-eyed Peas, Macaroni and Tomatoes AND Fried Potatoes with Onions.  Oh, yes...they also have someone bring you sorghum for your rolls.  If you leave there hungry, it ain't there fault!!!!  Check out there website here...http://www.throwedrolls.com/

We had a continental breakfast the next morning.  I went north on I-55 to Cape Girardeau and crossed the Mississippi there.  Sally said her and Junee drove on the Great River Road...I didn't know where that was and Sally couldn't remember.  But after crossing the Mississippi, I turned north on SR 3 which is the Great River Road.  We followed it to I-70 and stopped off a few times to see the Mississippi River up close.

After we got to I-70 we stopped at Blue Springs Restaurant at Exit 30.  They are known for the Foot High Pie..I have been told the meringue is 13 egg whites!!!!  We both had sandwiches, fries and a side and split a piece of Foot High Coconut Cream Pie!!! Mmmmmm!

At Effingham, IL, is The Cross at the Crossroads.  I turned off the interstate and we went to the site.  This cross is 198 ft. high, cross arm span is 113 ft., there are 848 yards of concrete in the footing, there are 33.92 tons of reinforced steel footings in the foundation and there is 361,607 pounds or 180.8 tons of steel in the structure.  This cross is viewed by 50,000 travelers per day!!!!  Awesome.  Check there website out at www.crossusa.org

I wanted to avoid Indy on Friday evening so I went north, and then east to get home.  I told Jerry in Illinois, I would get home by 7 p.m.  When I pulled in the drive, the clock radio said 7 p.m.!!!

I was tired but it was a very good two days away!!!!

"Deny sloth not only continuance, but countenance."
Larry - I don't know what's the matter with you - you only need to remember back a couple hundred years for sayings like that!
I'll at least tell you what I think (I'm ALWAYS willing to do that!)  First, deny sloth any continuance - just means don't keep on being slothful, but get up and stay up.  Secondly, deny sloth any countenance - just means don't even begin to put up with it - don't be friendly with it or even give it the time of day.
Sloth is that bad stuff that Christians musn't do, because our time has been given to us by God and must therefore not be wastedl.
Does that cover it?

Why are we still only on page 1. It ain't my fault I've been at work.

I am going to call the kids and if they are at home  will go out to see their new place and visit for awhile.

Jenny sent me a whole bunch of pictures that she took of her neighbors garden  and at the park, she sent me 2 of Chris.  I will ask her if I can post some of them here.

Hi Everyone...

I've been out trying to trim my lawn and run the push lawnmower over it again to even it out a bit.

Janet, that's for a year.  It's a great offer.

I'm so enjoying mine and also enjoying seeing that others are commenting on some of my photos already.  LOL

I wanted everyone to know that I will be adding to "Your Day In Mark" on a more frequent basis, since we now have posted all the psalms.  The link to Your Day is, YourDay (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?board=41.0)

Not sure this will work, as this is my first use of the linking info. Soni gave us (no fault of Soni - only my interpretation)  Or you can go to the Home page, scroll down to Your Day In Mark, and click there.

I guess everyone is having a busy day today.  It happens.

I have decided to wait until tomorrow to go decorate the graves, as it stayed hot and very windy all evening.

The wind blew two little birds out of nests, and Abby found them.  One is still naked, except for a bit of fuzz on its back, and it smacked onto the concrete, so I'm surprised it survived that.  It doesn't look to be in very good shape, though, expect it will expire soon.  The other is older, has all its feathers except the flight feathers, and is squacking up a storm.  If she doesn't love it to death, it might survive.  They are sparrows.

Etta Sue, that sounds like a great little mini-vacation.  You are a brave driver!  I'm not good at things like that at all. (But Pat is!)  Those meals sound scrumtious!  M-m-m-m-m!

I took some pictures of Abby playing in the sprinkler today.  If I can, I will post them later.

Abby says she is staying until Thursday.  That's the day we take Beth to Amarillo for her MRI.  So I guess she isn't tired of us yet.  It was so sweet to be awakened this morning with sweet little girl kisses! :-* :-*

My Mom said she had a really good birthday.  That's good.

Well we have been busy around here today.  I have been in but didn't post here until now.  I did post some more pictures of our new great-granddaughter, Elsie.

Our daughter, Beth and son-in-law, James are visiting with us.  We had hamburgers grilled out on the grill for our supper.  Very good.

I hope you all have a good rest this night.

I enjoyed a busy day here.   :)

I got up and had my coffee with my Bible devotions on the patio where I could just watch all of God's creation coming to life.

We are having hot days here and I'm trying to gradually get the side yard to look better.  This is where i have my swing, fish pond, bird feeders, patio.  I love sitting outside in the early AM and then again in the PM before sundown.  The middle of the day is almost unbearable to work outside.   Last week I bought one of the small electric chain saws so I could begin clearing out the edge of the woods which is coming into my yard.  I am anxious to try it out.  Maybe on Monday as I have the day off.

The devotion got me to thinking, too.  I had to read & read before I could understand.  You do so well, Pat.

Etta Sue..what a trip!! and I followed your site to see the cross.  It is awesome!  I believe I would be extremely tired after driving all those miles in 2 days.

Marilyn, glad you got to see you kids today and their place.   It sounds real pretty.

Ria, I love to go to bookstores.  They are so much fun to be able to browse in.  I love getting the coffee that they serve and taking time to sit and read.  I pray your eyes will get better.

Time for bed...See you tomorrow.  \ :) :)

Way to go, Al!  You did good!

I have been non-stop all week.  Still dancing and now we are getting ready for a garage/yard sale in a couple of weeks.  We have so much junk.  It should be fun.  The boys are already trying to think of different ways of making money during it. hehehee...

The family is all upstairs and for some reason I have been having a hard time getting online.  Takes about 5 minutes to load a page, sooo we will see if this loads.  Now I know how Karma and Nards feels.

Anyway, I might not be on here much till Tuesday.

I do have good news.  I have sold 5 prints in this month.  The most I have sold in 1 month.  They seem to buy my least favorite.  hmmm...go figure.
Hope you all have a good weekend and memorial day.

Hug!
