Morning Devotional...This do in remembrance of Me. . . This do ye. . . in remembrance of Me. 1 Corinthians 11:24-25
A number of years ago I had the privilege of watching the memorial service at the Cenotaph in Ottawa, Canada's capital city.
I was deeply moved to watch the soldiers remember their comrades who had died. This was not a celebration of victory but a remembrance of its cost. They stood in silence with tears streaming down their faces!
In a unique way, our Lord has requested that we remember Him by breaking bread and drinking the cup.
May we be faithful to remember the great cost to Him of our salvation.

He took bread, gave thanks and broke it,
and gave it to them, saying ‘This is My body given for you;
do this in remembrance of Me.’
Luke 22:19
Words: James MontÂgomÂeÂry
According to Thy gracious word,
In meek humility,
This will I do, my dying Lord,
I will remember Thee.
Thy body, broken for my sake,
My bread from Heaven shall be;
The testamental cup I take,
And thus remember Thee.
Gethsemane can I forget?
Or there Thy conflict see,
Thine agony, and bloody sweat,
And not remember Thee?
When to the cross I turn mine eyes,
And rest on Calvary,
O Lamb of God, my sacrifice,
I must remember Thee.
Remember Thee, and all Thy pains
And all Thy love to me;
Yea, while a breath, a pulse remains,
Will I remember Thee.
And when these failing lips grow dumb
And mind and memory flee,
When Thou shalt in Thy kingdom come,
Jesus, remember me.
Thanks Pat for that reminder. ;D

           Hadst Thou Been Here
              A.D.33
Then said Martha unto Jesus - "Lord,
if Thou hadst been here my brother had not died."
When Mary was come she fell down at His
feet, saying, "Lord, if Thou hadst
been here my brother had not died."
Jesus wept.
             A.D. 1914-19-
Hadst Thou been here,-
Our loved ones had not died,
Nor Life and Love again been crucified.
Hadst Thou been here,-
This horror had not been,
Nor earth the downfall of her hopes had
seen.
Hadst Thou been here,-
How coulds't Thou be here, Lord,
When we denied the Cross and chose the
sword?
Hadst Thou been here,-
Ah, - whose the fault that left
Faith of her hope and Life of love bereft?
Hadst Thou been here, -
Yet art Thou never far,
'Tis we alone that raise the hindering bar.
Hadst Thou been here, -
And yet Thy word is clear,
"Who wills can have. Reach up and
draw Me near."
How canst Thou be here, Lord,
When man's desire
Climbs not the stars, but wallows in the mire?
Where art Thou, Lord?
Let each man's own heart say
Why Christ is found no more of him this day.

Good morning JENNY ... or, in my part of the world, it is good night! I so love the fellowship we can have from around the world and it all seems as if we are together in time and space...
Love y'all ... Have a good day in Jesus
Judy - Just call me Mike, I don't think there is another one here. Â With the CPAP, I don't have any information on the oxygen with it, but on the sleepnet.com there are threads about it, and you can always post a question if you need an answer. Â They aren't a close group, but they are a helpful one. Â I am a major advocate of the CPAP machine though. Â Yes, it is true, it does take time to get used to. Â I could barely stand the thing the first couple of weeks that I had it. Â Now, I don't even think about it. Â The first mask thing the sleep clinic gave me was terrible, I could NOT stand it. Â However, once I tried the breeze, it was much better. Â I think mainly because it wasn't so big and bulky, and it did not have these straps you had to use. Â But it still took a little while to get used to the machine. Â Just encourage him to do it as much as possible. Â Start off with small goals, 1 hour on the machine, then 2, then 3, etc... Â You will find that eventually it will work and you will get used to it. Â I remember the first night at the sleep clinic, I woke up about 2am, and literally could not breathe. Â I tore the thing off my head and threw it at the wall. Â Luckily I didn't break it. Â I calmed down for 30 minutes, then tried to put it back on, but as soon as I did, I got claustrophobic, and could not do it. Â They then let me go home, but gave me a unit to take with me and encouraged me to try it as much as possible. Â Now, I could not think of sleeping without it. Â
When you read about the long term effects of not using the machine, it should scare you enough to do whatever you can to use it. Â It can lead to Death, Diabetes, Stroke, Heart Attack, Overweight, Daytime Sleepiness, Grumpiness, Grouchiness, and just plain not nice to be around. Â Take your pick, none of them are very nice. Â
Feel free to print my responses and give them to him. Â

What a glorious time of blessing!
We will know God personally.
But not just us, the vast chorus of the faithful
will sing a song of joy because they know God.
Let's anticipate that day and join our hearts
together in pursuit of God.
Let's not settle for merely a factual knowledge about God,
but let's come to really know him by sharing in His work,
by sharing in His character, and seeking His precense in our lives.

We are up early this cold and frosty Veterans Day to attend a breakfast in honor of the veterans of our area, given by the National Honor Society kids of the high school. I had a few minutes before we go, so popped in to say Good Morning! I'll be back!
??? ??? ??? Still no more posts? Hmmm..........
The breakfast was nice, and well attended. They invite veterans and their spouses. They had a nice little program, including the girl from our HS who won 8th place out of a field of over 30,000 contestants in the "Voices of America" contest. Her essay was wonderful!
It is getting colder here--down to 35* now, and snow is predicted tonight. Very cloudy and gloomy looking outside.
I have to take Beth back to the dentist's office this morning, then can work on more of my list. I'm gaining on it!
Ria, I hope thigs are better now in Holland. I love reading your posts. Where do you find so many lovely little poems? They are great!
Hi, Pat! Hi, Soni! Hi, Jenny! Mike, you are so good to shar information with us, God bless you! Hope Judy finds the info useful and that it will help Norm.
Soni what are df's?
I have a very busy day today, so I won't spend the time to tell you all that things I have to do today. I will be sdo glad when life settles down again to routine of going to work and coming home instead of doing that several times a day or going from place to place all day long. I have a couple of appointments today as well as both jobs and have to take the time out to comehome to let out the dogs.
Thank you Pat and Ria for the devotionals.

AMAZING GRACE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/amazinggrace.mid)
(Click title to hear music)
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.
When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We?ve no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.

My mom just called.
She said the ceremonies for the veterans at the court house
was lovely as usual.
An unusual amount of people --so few at times--but pleased
that this year, so many attended.
Glad we should all remember why and how we can live in freedom.
Because of all the dedication of our soldiers--past and present.
Talk to you later,
Love in Christ,
Joyce
Larry, I went back a few days and the lovely posting you shared
with us --That's God--was just what I needed to hear today.
Please take care, prayers for your well being.
Love in Christ,
Joyce
Three cheers for the veterans
who nobly served their country.
These heroes were courageous enough to
take a stand.
They were willing to sacrifice everything, in order to make the liberty bell ring.
Nothing dissuaded them.
They followed the convictions
of their heart and paved the way,
to make the United States the great country it is today.
They protected you and me
and kept America free from sea to shining sea.
So please take a moment to say a prayer
for them on Veteran's Day, and share this message
with your friends to help them remember the brave souls who refused to surrender.

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: Fight or Die
For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the
eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the
world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who
does the will of God abides forever.
--1 John 2:16-17
Someday the church can relax her guard, call her watchmen down from
the wall and live in safety and peace; but not yet, not yet....
The healthiest man has enough lethal bacteria in him to kill him
within twenty-four hours except for one thing-the amazing power of
the human organism to resist bacterial attack. Every mortal body
must fight its internal enemies day and night. Once it surrenders
its hours are numbered. Quite literally it must fight or die....
The church lives in a hostile world. Within and around her are
enemies that not only could destroy her, but are meant to and will
unless she resists force with yet greater force. The Christian
would collapse from sheer external pressure were there not within
him a counterpressure sufficiently great to prevent it. The power of
the Holy Spirit is, therefore, not optional but necessary. Without
it the children of God simply cannot live the life of heaven on
earth. The hindrances are too many and too effective. That
Incredible Christian, 86-87.
"Thank You for the power of the Holy Spirit within me to wage this
constant warfare for me. In my flesh I am so weak for such
unrelenting battle. Give Your strength today. Amen."

does anybody know how to alter the size of the sig line here? I wanted mine to be bigger, but I don't know how to do it
Chris, that's a really good devotional! Yes, we must fight on, till Jesus comes!
I am thinking a lot about our brave service people today, both those of the past and of the present. The fighting rages on in Iraq; and the memories linger in the minds of the old men from WW 2, Korea, and other wars. The Viet Nam war left so many scars, and as we just saw in the election, those wounds are still not healed.
My husband served our country for seven years, and I am proud of his service. He was in Berlin, 110 miles behind the Iron Curtain, and also in Viet Nam. When he was in Nam, their weapons were kept locked up. If they were attacked, they first had to get permission from Congress to fight back. Can you imagine that? Wars should never be controlled by Congress, but rather by the Generals on site who are supposed to be in charge. I am so happy Darrel made it back home, and I know it makes him feel good to have his service recognized. God bless our military--I love, respect and honor them!
Ok its now 8.32pm here in the UK and I just wanted to pop in and leave a message of thanks to all of our troops both British and American in Iraq at the moment. Â We owe them and all of our armed forces a debt of gratitude.
At work today when we had the two minutes silence I was thinking of them aswell as those from earlier wars.
I will not forget their sacrifice.
Also thought I would post up this poem by Keith Douglas who was killed in action 9/6/1944 aged 24.
Everyone, I suppose , will use these minutes
to look back, to hear music and recall
what we were doing and saying that year
during our last few months as people, near
the sucking mouth of the day that swallowed us all
into the stomach of a war.
I guess a lot of our troops will have been thinking such thoughts over the past few days.
Love to you all
chris
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, saw dawn, felt sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up your quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Marilyn, we are all thinking about your situation and we know you need a home of your own. I was just wondering if you might investigate Habitat for Humanity. It is just a thought. I know that thousands of people have been helped to own their own homes.
It has been a dark rainy day here. Martha came in and said she saw the parade down town. I have been thinking, reading the posts, about Veterans Day, the 11th of November. When I was just a boy in school it was Armistice Day and later changed to Veterans Day here in the U.S. I found a good site to read about this Holiday: http://www.worldwar1.com/dbc/arvetday.htm
This morning I spoke at the nursing home. Sometimes it is sad to go there and see all these elderly people, many in wheel chairs, some of them hardly knowing where they are. Yet some are just as sharp as they can be. All of them seem to appreciate the opportunity to gather for the singing, the prayers, and the thoughts about God’s word. This morning I talked about the friendship of David and Jonathan and about how wonderful it is to have friends.
We are packing tonight to leave early in the morning to go over for our week in Hilton Head. It is a long drive from here but the weatherman says our rain will be over. I hope you all have a restful evening and a good night’s sleep.

I was not feeling very good this morning, so stayed in bed as long as possible before going to work. Then, ended up working until after 7:30 tonight.
So, I would guess that it won't be long until I'm back in the bed again.
I had such a frustrating morning - the loaner computer wouldn't do what I needed it to do. Had terrible deadlines and no visible means of meeting them.
So, I did a "girl" thing. I picked up my purse with a lump in my throat and tears misting my eyes. Slipped out to sit in my truck and meditate and pray. Afterward, God made a way (literally where there was no way) for me to be able to use a second loaner computer. So, all afternoon, I diligently worked to prepare files on the first loaner, then move to the second loaner to finish them up.
What a difference some time with our Lord made.

Hi everyone.
We were gone about 6 hours today and needless to say I am a bit tired tonight. This was my retiree's luncheon (we meet every second month) and Pat went with me for the first time. She didn't want me going alone since I hadn't been feeling well. I then had my doctor's appointment at 3 pm so we didn't want to drive all the way back. She did a couple shopping errands and then got to the doctor's office at Kaiser about an hour early. We each had a book to read so the hour went by quickly. The doctor had another chest xray taken and an ekg done and all appears to be well. He thinks I may have some minor fluid acccumlation, that isn't showing in the xrays, so prescribed a mild diuretic to see if that will help with the shortness of breath. He thinks the spike in blood sugar I had on Sunday was probably do to adrenaline since my blood sugar has been very normal ever sense. So I hope to be feeling better in the next few days as this is getting in the way of what I want to be doing. ::)
Pat, thanks for the message from Mieka. She certainly shouldn't be worrying about me as I will be fine.
Mike, my wife got used to wearing the mask and did so for about 7 years. I will have her check out the website you cited and I have been hearing an ad for a site called www.nomask.com but haven't checked it out yet. You are so right that sleep apnea can do terrible things to a person's health. Glad you have adjusted to yours.
Marilyn, sorry about the third refusal on your loan. As you know the Lord will provide for your needs. However, certainly understand your sense of disappointment.
Papa John, hope you have a great time at Hilton Head and have some nice weather.
I am going to beg off tonight and will try to write more tomorrow. Think it is about time for this old man to turn in for the night as missed my afternoon nap today.
I have spent several hours doing the family newsletter and then looking up old photos and stories (family) for my cousin who is working on the genealogy and book. I have lots more, but now I know where they are!! So I am feeling very relieved. I don't like having things hanging that I need to get done. Now I can concentrate on getting ready for our trip!
Larry, it sure is good to have you back, sounding like your old self. Please stay well!
Hi, Papa John. That's so true about the nursing homes. I visited my Mom today, and there are just a few in there whose minds are still sharp. Beth and I took her little dogs and the people all loved them. Almost everyone loves puppies! A lot of the poor old folks are just lying in bed, or sitting in wheelchairs, staring vacantly. I'm so thankful Mom's mind is still sharp; she can remember things from long ago, and still remember yesterday, too. I got a couple more family stories from her for the book. ;D Goodness, my Dad lived through some really hard times. He was born in 1900 and lived until 1990, saw things from horse and buggy days to putting a man on the moon. I still miss him, he was a wonderful person.
I need to get off here, I'm hurting again! Good night!
Papa John Yes I have applied to Habitat for Humanity but haven't heard back from them yet. I just applkied a couple of weeks ago. I am not trying anymore to find a lender, I don't have a down payment and there is no way I can come up with $7K to $15k for that.
I have been home about 30 minutes and have my jammies on already. not going to work on PSP lessons I have 7 more to get done by the 20th. I got 2 weeks behind tryign to figure out some things I downloaded.
So Good Night all.
