Morning Devotional...Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse...and prove Me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10
The truth of this verse is well illustrated in nature where the farmer who sows liberally, reaps liberally, and the farmer who sows sparingly will reap sparingly.
So it is with us. If we hoard our resources and give to God in a skimpy fashion, we cannot expect to see His hand open in blessing upon us.
But if we yield our all to Him, we can expect to see returns that will go beyond our ability to conceive it.
--Wm. BurnettShowers of Blessing (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/Showers.mid)
There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.
Refrain:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.
There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Grant us now a refreshing
Sound of abundance of rain.
There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Over the hills and the valleys
Come, and now honor Thy Word.
Refrain:
There shall be showers of blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we're confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!

Pat you got me...........
I was adding to my post to Al.
Oops! Sorry! :-[
Put it in here then, Lee. He'll see it in the morning.
Al.............
Personally, I don't feel at all responsible for the decisions of politicians and judges who make ungodly decisions. You and I have very limited powers when it comes to national and individual states voting, or of politicians who refuse to make presidential judicial appointments. We have a voice, and we can raise it in defense of our Lord, but even that is not going to change the course, of God's timeclock. Neither you nor I call it all joy when we see the state our nation is in, even though we know our Lord is in charge. I say this only because of the multitude that will ultimately reject Him.
When the tail is allowed to wag the dog by our courts, we have reached a point of no return. Simply, the minority is now in control of the majority. It all started with the Israelites who rejected God and demanded a king. We've had them since. :(
Hi there lovely lady. How you holding up? Are you able to witness to Dianne?
Pat..............
Your devotional. You've hit on something we are experiencing in our church. Our pastor announced two weeks ago that contributions have fallen to half. Pretty heavy when the congregation consists of 36+ people.
Reminds us of a couple in the Bible who held onto a portion they should have given. We may not experience what happened to them, but we will feel it in other ways. For some reason, folks just don't seem to grasp "First Fruits".
QuoteRuthie -- too cool. God is good <karmat waits for response>
ALL THE TIME !! Sorry, Karmat, I didn't mean to be so slow with the response, but I just got here <again> as Pat was turning the key in the lock! :-\
Hey! I'm a 17-yr-old missionary kid home on furlough with my family. I came across this website and was really excited to find a place for Christian photographers to fellowship.
I've loved photography ever since I was a little girl, I still remember the feeling it gave me to hold a camera, video or film. Being rasied in Africa defnitely gave me an advantage photography wise - I was able to photograph everyday things/happenings that people in the States would consider rare. Sadly, I guess I kind of took that opportunity for granted, assuming I'd always be there; never really accomplishing what I thought I would.
Since then, photography has been a big part of my life, especially for the last 3 yrs or so. I'm just now finishing up a yr long course from the New York Institute of Photography, days away from receiving my certificate.
On completion of highschool, I would really love to, and have been praying about, using my talent somehow in the ministry. How, I'm not really sure of yet - I constantly pray that I will always stay open to anything the Lord might have planned for me. This has just always been a dream of mine.
Anyway, let me know if I posted this thing right! :P
In Christ,
Beth
Good morning 10.40AM
Pat thank you for your devotional and the hymn today i love it to read every morning.

WELCOME BETH 8603 0n CP
RIA :D
Hi Ria---and who ever else that is online---
I haven't gone to bed yet, but just wanted to drop in and say Hi..
I haven't had a chance to post much lately-things have been busy here and trying to stay on top of things here on the home front.
Tonight I went to a friends house to stamp our Christmas cards-I usually send out over 75..I made 30 some for my sister and 30 for her boss--now I am trying to get mine done...I also have started trying to quilt and have really been into that.
Not much else happening except a wind storm all day--it blew a trampoline 2 yards over and also our swing set over this am..the wind is still blowing..
Well, need to go get some sleep so I will chat with you later-
Rachelle
H everyone and a big welcome to Beth. I hope we see some of your photos and we are glad you found our website.
Rachelle, my wife is an avid quilter, as I know Carol is. She has been a quilter for years and has collected a lot of fabric. Right now she is making quilt blocks out of her scrap material and they are turning out very well.
Ria, I am sure you would prefer your husband not have to travel but sometimes that just goes with the job. Do hope things work out in a way that is satisfactory to you all.
This is the day we go to the airport to visit with my sister-in-law. This will be her first time to fly into Atlanta so should be quite an experience for her as our airport is one of the busiest in the world. It is easy to get around in if you know what to do but a little intimadating when you don't. They don't allow non-passengers to meet planes at the gates anymore so will have to wait for her at the baggage claim.
Time for coffee so will make this short today. May God watch over each of us today.
i'm early agian! ;D extremely tired but doing all right still have to be at school on time even though last night was a game night. (some schools give the athletes an extra hour to sleep before they come in ours doesn't) it's a little bit cold but i'm sure it will warm up nicely (at least i'm hoping!) well i need to finish getting ready and get to school ttyl
Sarah
BTW welcome to all the new members.
Good Sunny Morning to all,
Welcome Beth
Rachelle: Quilting - you just said the magic word for me. Larry's wife, Pat, is a wonderful quilter. I am trying to make Christmas presents for four children.
pinkie: You are a very caring person to capture the little kitten and relocate it to a safe home.
Yes, the news about same sex marriage was so discouraging. There are great pressures from organized groups. I noticed that their spokesperson in each case kept refering to the same sex people as "family". What a sham!
Carol
Hello everyone! I've got to get on the road on a short business trip here soon, but I wanted to say Hi!
My heart is heavy today for babies who may be aborted today :( One particular situation came to my mind this morning in the shower. It almost seems as though the Spirit is telling me to pray for a particular person, that she would be convicted and not abort her child. I have no idea who she is, but she is heavy on my heart. Please join with me in prayer for her and other mothers who still have the chance to make a last minute decision for good.
What if God's people pray?? I believe it would make a difference that would shock us!
Let's pray for the Chinese Christians that they don't lose their resolve.
Let's pray for world leaders, that they would meet Jesus in a way they cannot deny.
Let's pray expecting results. We don't serve a dead god like Baal. We serve the God who lives. Jehovan Jireh. King of Kings. Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End, First and Last. He who was, and is, and is to come.
Pray. When you wonder what to do, pray. When you are driving alone, pray. Keep your eyes open, of course :) When you see sad things on the television, pray.
God can work and no man can hinder.
Lee - I agree, our country is on a slide. Our most powerful weapon is prayer. Let's use it on politicians. God can accomplish things we cannot even imagine.
I really hope everyone has a good day today.
Bye now!
Nards. I am with youin prayer.
Welcome Beth
Lee I happen to agree with you on the responsibility issue. But we both must remember we are coming from a law inforcement point of view and that colors our judgement. Al is coming from the place of a pastor. We think differently from them, because you and John have dealt so much with the criminal element of society.
Ria I will pray that the lawyer gets your husband a good settlement that will be good for all of you.
Well have to go now,
Love to all
JudyB
Good morning/afternoon!
WELCOME TO BETH!!! It's great to "meet" you, and I surely look forward to seeing your photos and hearing more about your life in Africa!
Last night, Beth and I attended the Thanksgiving Dinner at the care home with my Mom. It was really nice, and they served over 300 people! They said it took 17 turkeys! (gobble, gobble.)
I have been being even more diligent lately in prayer and Bible reading, and last night after I went to bed, the enemy came in like a flood, with all sorts of false (but just enough truth to sound plausible) accusations against me! I was really feeling miserable, and when the tears started, the Lord whispered very quietly "Who are you listening to, my daughter?" Then I realized that it was not my conscience, the the enemy that was bringing all that junk to mind. It was really bad---I was feeling like the lowest of the low! So I just got up, went to the living room and began to read. After just a little while, the voice was drowned out, my conscience was clear, and I was able to go back to bed after about an hour and a half and get to sleep. Prayer is always the answer!! :) Thank you, Jesus!
I also am sick about the ruling the so-called "justices" in Massachussetts made yesterday. I am something of a quiet activist, writing many letters and making small contributions to good causes when I can. I do many of these via email (the letters) and recommend www.conservativepetitions.com as a quick and easy way to make your voice heard.
No, we cannot control others, but we still have the right to vote! And we each have a circle of influence, some large and some small. Let's use it for the good of our country! God is keeping track.
We have to go to Garden City today and do some modifications to a home alarm. They have been remodeling, and we have to move some equipment; which involves crawling around underneath the floor. :-\ That is a job neither of us enjoys any more, but it will be nice to have it done so we don't have to dread it any more.
Hi, Ria! Love you!
I must go, Darrel just said "Breakfast!" And that gets my attention!
Good morning one and all.
Pat thank you for today's devotion.
[/b][/color]
Nards thank you for the reminders to pray always. This is something I TRY to remember to do and often forget to do.
Paul tells us to: Be anxious for nothing but in all things by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving to let our requests be know to God. And the peace of God that transcends all understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Be back later.

Nards~I will be praying today for this young lady. Thanks for the post. It is always good to be reminded that we can pray anytime.
If your busy at work or home and hear a siren, do you pray? I know I would want someone praying for me if thatsiren was headed my way.
Ria~How are the cards coming?
No grey hair? That is good! I have a ton of it already. :-\ :D
QuoteBy Carol~Yes, the news about same sex marriage was so discouraging. There are great pressures from organized groups. I noticed that their spokesperson in each case kept refering to the same sex people as "family". What a sham!
This is very sad! My kids were asking me questions about this last night. What a shame. :(
Sarah~Hope you have a good day at school. Wooohooo...on your win last night.
Larry~Got any coffee left? I could sure use some about now. :D
Rachelle~Sounds like you are keeping yourself busy. I started a quilt about 5 years ago. I probably won't finish it till my baby is out of the house. ::) hehehe...
How are those youngens doing?
Pat~thanks for the link "A high-speed land and water vehicle"! I have a new item on my christmas list. ;D ;)[/b]

Our solar system is not a result of chance but has been uniquely designed for life by a loving Creator. Not only is Earth's distance from the sun just right for life, but its orbit provides the even, moderate conditions that life requires.
Prayer: Thank You, dear Father in heaven, for preparing a creation for us in which every detail supports us and glorifies You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

I have another busy day. I am teaching the kids algebra. It is going pretty good, for now.
Karma or anyone else good with english. What is the proper use for the words was and were?
Were you at church yesterday? Or
Was you at church yesterday?
Do we use was when it is a single person and were when it is more then one person?
This is bugging me and I can't find this info anywhere. Thanks for you help!
Chandraya has been asked to join another dance group along with the 2 she is doing right now. I think I will let her, but it just might be to much for her. But then again she might surprise me.
My oldest son Troy is now on the highschool swimteam.
He will begin swimming for the team Dec. 1. 5:30am-7:00am and then 3:30pm-5:30pm Mon-Thursday. I am so NOT looking forward to getting up that early. :-\
Zachery now has 2 paper routes. He is a busy little guy. He will be turning 13 pretty soon and will start volutering his time at the Nursing home. He is excited.
I got to run. Love you all.

Good morning Etta Sue, Janet, and Marilyn!
Welcome Beth! I can't wait to see your photo. Africa would be an awesome place to take photos. Please stop by here a few times a day. People usually have replys to your posts. Glad to have you here.
Good morning/evening all!
What great discussions! But since I am still learning, I feel inadequate to voice my thoughts on these subjects.
Jerry and I attended the Small Group meeting last evening. Great fellowship! We are all looking forward to attending ONE service together on Sunday and then a pitch-in dinner at one of our small group member's home. We have all agreed to give food to a needy family. We have a single mother with three children AND a single father raising his 8-month old daughter. That is a family!!! We will purchase the food and deliver it early in December so that then they can use their 'food' money on presents for their children.
We all talked about where we have heard 'The Purpose Driven Life' book talked about this past week. Everywhere from friends, family, billboards, placards, newspapers, magazines AND TV. Wouldn't it be great to see Rick Warren being interviewed by Katie Couric? Hmmm!

LOVE RIA :)
It's a wet dreary day here in Guelph. I have the remnants of packing my Avon order in the living room to clear up. Then I must go to the funeral parlor this evening.
The Guelph Hiking Trail Club annual general meeting last night was really good. The fellow who was showing the slides took us to the UK (up into Yorkshire!!! plus many other places I recognized) and a cruise in the Baltic and to Copenhagen, Russia, and many other places. What a delight it was to travel across the sea (even though it was only in pictures).
It's great to have you here, Beth! What part of Africa were you living in? I have a few friends who are missionaries in Zambia.
I have often heard from "psychology-type of people" that it's great to "let your anger out" and vent and scream and shout.
Well, today's Creation Moment was interesting with this in mind...
Hotheads Venting Heats Anger
"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice."Ephesians 4:31
For years those filled with anger were advised to vent their anger. Supposedly venting one's anger-hitting a pillow, breaking things, yelling-would get rid of the anger. To many people, such advice seemed contrary to the spirit of Scripture. And a few more conservative voices in the counseling community maintained that far from dealing constructively with anger, venting actually increases it.
Now, a Duke University study has documented that venting not only increases anger, but is actually bad for one's health. In one study, researchers randomly assigned reading to 600 college students. Some students read pro-venting articles, others read anti-venting articles, while others read articles on unrelated subjects. Students were asked to write an essay on the article they read. Then, each was given negative comments about their essay-comments designed to make them angry-followed by the opportunity to hit a punching bag. Finally, each student was paired with an opponent in a competition that offered an opportunity for aggression. Researchers found that students who read a pro-venting article were twice as aggressive as the others. Aggression levels were also linked to how much the students liked hitting the punching bag. Other studies have shown that anger doubles or triples one's chance of having a heart attack, and long-term anger is linked to other health ! problems as well.
Science has again "learned" what the Bible has always taught: anger is not good for you or anyone else.
Prayer: Forgive me Father and take all anger from my heart so that I may show Your love to me in Christ to those around me. Amen.
Ref: Judy Forman, New advise for Hotheads:Cool It, Star Tribune, Sunday May 9, 1999, PE3
QuotePrayer: Forgive me Father and take all anger from my heart so that I may show Your love to me in Christ to those around me. Amen.
Amen!!!!!
A quick one -- they were, I was,
he was, I was, they were.
You, whether singular or plural will always go with "were."
You (singular) were lost last night.
You (meaning an entire group) were lost last night.
See, that's why we Southerners use you all for plural. It's just easier, that way. :P :P ;D
Hello everyone! I'm at work, so I suppose this should be brief. I've got to update my students' lesson plans/programs/guides, etc. and work on some other paperwork. Yea!
I hope all of you have a wonderful day.
More later
Hi to all,
Welcome to our latest newcomer, Beth.
I am at work so I can not post as much as I would like.
But, I am have a delightful time reading all of your postings for the last two days.
Very, very interesting postings and great insight.
Much to ponder about.
Of course, I have something to post but time is limited so forgive me and I will get back later.
Update, my mom is feeling great after her nasty fall.
Stitches were taken out on Monday; the only problem
when she eats; she hears a clicking noise.
It sounds like TMJ I said; but she will go to the
doctors again. She wants to wait till after the holidays.
Some say; TMJ, goes away just as it came on.
Anyone know about this and would like to share.
Take care and as always,
Love in Christ,
Joyce
Still waiting for the results from my OB-GYN and my mammo.
I laughed at Pinkie's (I think it was her) remarks on mammo--if I read it before I went for one; I probably would have stayed home and not went.
Yes, I felt totally, totally violated after that visit.
And , to think, we pay for this "pleasure"!!!!!
Hi, Ria, my doctor says I still have to take the Actonel for at least another year. Osteo in back is bad but the Osteo in hip is worse.
I should buy stock in Calcium pills that he told me to take.!!!
Talk to you later,
Love in CHrist,
Joyce

Thanks for the chuckle!

They "were"
We "were"
He/she "was"
I "was".
Unless you're from the south, then anything goes ;D
Down there it could be:
They-uns, or We-uns,
Or:
He-be, she-be.
Then there is the all inclusive: "Ye'all", or just plain old "Yuh". ;D
Texans prefer "Yep". ;) ;)
I get a kick out of Idahoans who say: "Theseones"
Joyce...........
I was deathly afraid Pinkie was going to share a garage picture ;)
Interesting watching the news and the Michael Jackson case.
Lee, were you anywhere near Santa Barbara? (I know nothing about the geography of California).
Joyce, it's nice to see you here. Wish you had internet access at home and in PA.

"Yuh" is more indicative of New England, me thinks. And it's not Ye'all, it's Y'all.
hahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha
You know, if everyone spoke Southern, we wouldn't have any grammatical problems.
On a more serious note. When I was taking a grammar class in graduate school, we watched a video series about the "Origin" of the English (American English) language. They showed some pockets of specific Irish dialects. I was the only one in the class that understood what was being said. It sounded just like some of the people from my grandmother's generation that I was around when I was younger. The dialect in this area is that similar to some of the old Irish dialects and English dialects from across the sea. Now, though, we have been "taught" that a Southern Appalachian dialect is a sign of a lack of intelligence, so many of us have abandoned it and learned to speak "proper." I have a pretty thick drawl (don't I Etta and Pat?), but I can control about 85% of it, when I want to. I just rarely want to.

Hey! Thank you all for the warm welcome! :)
QuotePatt Scott - What part of Africa were you living in? I have a few friends who are missionaries in Zambia.
We're missionaries in Malawi, Africa - not many people have even heard of the country. It's bordered by Zambia to the west, and Zimbabwe on the east. We were actually at one point going to be working in Zambia, so I might know you're freinds there. Let me know what their name is... see if it rings a bell!
Well, my scanner isn't working at the moment, and sadly I have little of my work on the 'puter... hopefully I'll get it up and runnin' and post some of my work soon!

Hi Beth... They have boys who have done all of their schooling over there. The last name is Poidevan (Marilyn and Bruce) and he's a pilot. They have 3 boys but all are back in Canada now going to college. I had a boarder once who lived in Malawi. He worked at a Christian Book Publishers I believe.
hey ya'll <------ that's my spelling of it!
we are still getting ready for the game friday but practice today was a killer since we are all sore from last night. well at least all of the team that played (we had a few that didn't) i just think it is funny when the ones who didn't play boss the ones who did around ??? to me there is something wrong with that picture! well anyways hope everyone has had a good day ttyl
SArah
Sarah, your team sounds pretty salty! I don't think I want to go up against you! ;) But I wish you a winning season. ;D
Well, I had the experience of crawling on my hands and knees, and sometimes on my belly, about 200 feet, underneath a house today. :-\ It made me have sympathy for our boys in uniform whom I have seen on maneuvers crawling like that! But I am so happy to be able to do that so that Darrel didn't have to. It's easier on me than on him. And we got the alarm stuff moved and the alarm back in service. Then we went to Wal-mart and to Target and did a bit of shopping. Good day! ;D
Sonja, sorry I didn't get to answer your was/were question, but you got good answers anyway!
Pat, I really enjoy the creation moments, thanks for the links, as I forget to go listen if the links aren't in here. :-[
We bought a Christmas gift for Abby today (the first of several, I'm sure ;)) Since she learned to play checkers and now can beat me, we got her a checker/tic tac toe set. Now she can try to beat her Daddy! ;D
I want to go see if there are any new photos today.
Karma, I would love to listen to you talk, and don't try to get rid of the drawl. I will love it!
Pat.............
Santa Barbara is north of Los Angeles (I've forgotten the mileage) so my best guess is 60-miles. Many Hollywood actors live there. Santa Barbara is on the coast and is a neat place to retreat and spend time on the beach. Jack Elam, a friend of mine, the western actor with the offset eye (Very mean looking) lives there. Interestingly, I wrote a crime prevention script "Home Security Survey" wheer Jack and I were in it. The Canadian police (RCMP) liked it and we went up to Calgary to re-shoot it with RCMP guys. I wasn't in the RCMP film, just served as an advisor. Great guys and I still have a T-shirt they gave me in 1976 from the RCMP. Speaking of RCMP, when Vivian and I were on our last trip two months ago in Canada, I dropped in at the RCMP in Jasper and they gave me an RCMP uniform shoulder patch. I've always had a great relationship with your guys.

Karmat.........
"Y-all' looks like "Y" "All". "Ye-all" is spelled like it sounds. ;)
"Show" is usually accompanied with "Nuff", and it says: ..."sho-nuff"
Sonja.........Look at what you started ;D
Lee y-all is pronounced "yawl" Are you learning to speak southern?
Personally, I think Karma is the resident expert on speaking Southern! She's been doing it her whole life!~ ;D
But the rest of us can use some lessons..........
Yes Janet you are so right. Karma What is the correct pronunciation. Spelling?
It's not raining here. It's TEEMING! ;D
Well, my pictures didn't make it into the newspaper today. The article was there, but no pictures. I'm telling myself it's not because they weren't good enough, but there just wasn't enough room available. :-\
I've been updating the town website's various pages, transferring them into FrontPage, and a lot of the pictures need to be taken over again. They were among the first I took with my original camera which was less than 1 megapixel and the quality looks terrible now. Looked pretty good then, but....
I just wanted to pop in and say thanks to all y'all for replying to my post about english.
I have dance tonight, well in about 20 minutes, so I better get moving.
Later folks!
Sonja
Good evening Y'all. :) (I can say that.....I was born in Texas. lol)
We had rain most of the day today. Rain, rain, rain, wind and more rain. I love it.
I had to go back to yesterday to read all the posts. Interesting Biblical discussions. I always enjoy this.....as long as it doesn't turn into debates and then to anger. :D ::) >:( I don't think that will happen here.
Welcome Beth. It's always good to see newcomers post and tell about their life. Yours sounds very interesting. I can't wait to see some of your pictures too.
Gotta go and check out some of the other forums. God bless..
Nita! Good to see you!
Jane, where are you? I miss you...... :'(
Ye-all is a first cousin to ye-haw which is what you say when your 4X4 or horse goes down a really steep hill.
Y'all has no "e" sound. Just a smooth slide from "yuh" to "all" = /yall/. hahahahah
And remember, "all y'all" is more than 8.
Jeanne, They didn't have room. But they shoulda made room. How many opportunities do they get to publish your pictures. Their loss. ;)
Have a good evening, all ya'll, I think I may turn in early tomorrow.
Hahaha. Long day tomorrow, think I'll turn in early tonight!
Hey, I just saw that Cindy was online!!!
HI CINDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How goes in in metropolitan upstate SC??
Marilyn..........
My oldest daughter is a "Fish head". She was born in Florida at Eglin Air Force Base. We lived in the south for three years. I'll say this, if you have southern friends and assiciate with them down there, you start to pick-up a bit of their drawl. My son lives in Texas and I can't understand a word he says. ;D
You know where Texas is, it's that place that naturalizes you by the time you get from one end to the other. ;D
Technically, Florida is only a southern state to people who don't live in the south. It belongs up north!!
hahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahaha
(This is a joke, I promise, some dear friends are from and/or live in FL)
Hey Karmat - I was just giggling over the "southernese" discussion! Things are great - just busy as always.
I'm enjoying trying to catch up on whats going on.
Hello Beth.... Welcome to CP. Hope you enjoy your fellowship here.
My Sister and Brother-in-law were missionaries in Mauritius for 20 years. As you probably know Mauritius is a little island on the coast of Madigascar. They were with AEF (Africa Evangelical Fellowship) which has joined SIM now. They are here in Canada now and working with Inter Varsity, International Students. Their names are Kamyl & Lorraine Cadinouche. Kamyl was born in Mauritius.
My sister and myself are posted in the photo section under Sisters.
I go to Peoples Church in Toronto Canada. They have over 500 missionaries around the world and some in Zambia.
I'm sure you and I will have much to chat about.
God Bless
Ruthie

I'm sure your pictures were great. Space is always an issue with a newspaper. We just finished a special section on becoming a foster parent. The section was 8 pages but the stories were so long they only used two photos in the entire section!
Cindy
