Morning Devotional...

But Thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness.
Nehemiah 9:17

"A God of pardons" is an alternative translation of this opening clause.

It suggests multiplied pardons, for multiplied sins! What good news for any sin-burdened soul today!

Because of the absolute sufficiency of Christ's atoning work at Calvary, God is ready to pardon you the very moment you truly repent, and trust in what the Lord Jesus has done on your behalf.

The blood of Jesus Christ "cleanseth us from all sin" (1 Jn. 1:7).

Trust Him now!
--G. Hall

Great God of Wonders! (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/sovereignty.mp3)
(Click to hear music)

Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity,
and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage?
he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
Micah 7:18

Author:  Samuel Davies, 1723-1761
Musician:  John Newton, 1725-1807

Great God of wonders! all Thy ways
Are matchless, Godlike, and divine;
But the bright glories of Thy grace
Above thine other wonders shine,
Above thine other wonders shine.

Refrain:
Who is a pard'ning God like Thee?
Or who has grace so rich and free?
Or who has grace so rich and free?

Such deep transgressions to forgive!
Such guilty sinners thus to spare!
This is Thy grand prerogative,
And in this honor none shall share;
And in this honor none shall share.

In wonder lost, with trembling joy,
We take the pardon of our God:
Pardon for crimes of deepest dye,
A pardon bought with Jesus' blood,
A pardon bought with Jesus' blood.

O may this glorious, matchless love,
This God-like miracle of grace,
Teach mortal tongues, like those above,
To raise this song of lofty praise,
To raise this song of lofty praise:

Good morning, friends,

Yesterday was such a busy day I just didn't have energy to post when I got home. I think everyone panicked at the beginning of the week realizing I was going to be away for nearly 2 weeks. Wow! I still have 4 deadlines to meet before 3:30 this aft3ernoon, so am going to smile and wave, as I head out the door.

Carol - Earl Grey tea is my lifelong favorite!

Y'all have a good day.

Sister Pat,

Thanks for the beautiful music. I found a way to listen to "mp3". I simply save it as a download and click it later. It's a great way to start the morning by thinking about God's Grace, God's Love, and HIS wonders.

I feel led to share a couple of beautiful Scriptures I'm looking at now.

1 Corinthians 2:9  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

John 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable GIFT, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour Forever!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Good morning!  I'm up early, have cleaned the kitchen (yes, I know I should have done it last night, but..........) stripped the bed and am washing the sheets, still waiting for those frames!  Grrr!  If I weren't in a hurry, they would have arrived two days ago!  But if they get here today, I can still make the deadline.

Good words from the Word of Life today.  Ruth Ann, don't overdo it, you want to be feeling good to enjoy your trip!

Tom, thanks for your good additions today, too.  I'm listening to Jesse DuPlantis as I type this.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matt. 11:28

Good Morning. I have something in my right eye this morning, maybe a dog hair. It sure is agravating (sp). Now I have irritated my eylid putting my finger on it and rubbing my eye. GRR.

I am really enjoying taking care of Fay full time. She is so easy to work for. I am so glad that I am not working two jobs every day. I can live with this way. fAy is doing well but she does get upset so easily about trivial things tho' not with me., with other people.

Good devotional this morning Pat, and Tom thanks for your additions, yours too Janet. Now  for Papa John's additions later.

Tai Chi class this morning and to the gym this afternoon. Yes I even have time to go for excersise, Isn't that great. I go to work for and hour then to Tai Chi. After lunch I go tot he gym come home for an hour then back to work. I get a two hour break morning and afternoon.

Ruth Ann ~ Tell your co-workers they are practicing for when you retire!!!!  You will be practicing, too!

Janet ~ Isn't it sad when you give your puppies away but aren't you glad they are someone elses now?  Hope you get your frames done before you leave.

Nita ~ Hope you found a new home for Amy.  She is a doll.  Now, if I were closer to you.... ::)

Gloomy day today.  Really foggy when I finally got up.  Inky woke me up with her kneading on my arm, then she lays down so flat on my arm, reaches out a paw and barely touches my face.  Any other time she is a touch-me-not.  But at those times, she can't get close enough to me.  Oh, did I mention the loud purring at that time, too?

Yes, Etta Sue, I miss the sweet puppies but am so glad they are in good homes, and not leaving little presents for us all over the garage!

I am gradually getting the house in shape so I won't feel so overwhelmed with Christmas being so soon after we get home.  I called about the frames, they still show as being in Dodge City on the truck for delivery.  They said the weather prevented delivery yesterday, that there was a flood between Dodge City and here.  ??? ??? ???  I don't think so!  We never get that much rain, only once every 50 years or so, and the little rain yesterday doesn't qualify!  So I'm still hoping they will make it here today.  I will have to burn the midnight oil but can still make it, if they get here today.

Here's a grin for today...................

My dry cleaner very generously gives each customer a free copy of our daily newspaper. As I took my copy, I told him, "I hope the business grows enough to offset the cost." "Oh, don't worry about us," he said. "Nothing dirties clothes more than newsprint."

Pat: Yes, I cut the trees down myself. When we first moved to Arkansas in 1982, we had this terrific view.  For the first seven years, we ignored the growing trees on the hill and one day noticed we were losing our view.  We finally got them all cut down and every year since have cut down all the saplings that come up each year. Last year's before and after pictures.

Rachelle, your kids are beautiful and they look like they are enjoying the cooking task.

Papa John: Sounds like you've had a really great vacation. We spent three months one winter (1998)  at Amelia Island in Florida, not too far from the Georgia  border. The beach was beautiful and I got to walk each day.  We took our bicycles and rode all over the plantation as the weather was great that winter.

Janet the puppies are adorable.

Nice to see you, Gwen!

I edited your post so that the photos were one on top of each other as they were a little wide for the tables here on CP.  Great photos!  I just can't even begin to think of doing that work myself!  You are to be commended for your energy!

Hope you put those photos in a topic over in our Photos Here area so that they won't disappear as new New Every Morning topics are opened.  Incredible!

Hi everyone and Happy Birthday to Matt and Jerry.  Hope you both have a great celebration today.

I am happy to be able to let you all know that my CT scan had no indication of a problem.  The doctor's nurse called this morning and said all was well, at the instruction of the doctor.  If there had been a problem the doctor would have called me, as he has several times before.  So God has blessed me once again with this just being a false alarm.  Needless to say I am relieved.

Janet, sure hope your frames arrive today.  Sounds like you just got a convenient excuse from the delivery company.  Glad you were able to find a good home for your puppies.

Nita, also glad you have a good prospect for your Amy.  That sounds like an ideal situation.  It also sounds like you have a good vet.

Etta Sue, I wouldn't hesistate to reinstall the new version of Firefox as the problems you experienced probably didn't have anything to do with that browser.  Since I installed the 1.0 edition I don't seem to be having the problem with the browser having to close periodically that I had with the beta versions.  I also haven't upgraded my PaintShop Pro from version 7.  I find it does everything I want it to do.

Gwen, you have quite a view there but that sure sounds like a lot of work.

Marilyn, sure hope you don't have any serious problem with your eye.  Glad you are enjoying your work schedule now as know you didn't enjoy your previous schedule very much.

Tom, I had downloaded quite a few extensions for Firefox with the old version but there are several that no longer work with the 1.0 version.  I expect they will soon be upgraded so that isn't a problem.  Glad you found the way to listen to your mp3 files.

Pat, thanks for the devotional this morning.

Oh, Praise the Lord, Larry, for that good report! Can you hear Pat and me singing the praises to God together?  God bless you, our dear brother!  I mean...continue to bless you!  I'm SO happy to hear this wonderful news!

Gwen, I have worked hard all my life, but cutting down those trees is really heavy work!  Do you have a chain saw?  We still need to finish cutting down this awful row of Russian Olive trees we have here.  Hateful things!

I think we are going to leave a note on the door for the FedEx man to set the box inside---IF he ever shows up---and go on to Liberal.  Darrel has a little job to complete, I want to get something that says KANSAS on it for my young friend in Thailand, and Beth has a list of things she wants.  We can't wait for him all day!  >:(

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT & JERRY

Brother Larry, I can't tell you how happy it makes me to hear your good news. I'll pray that you keep getting good news.

Brothers and Sisters, I made a little test for you that I hope you enjoy. By the way, I passed the test with flying colors. You pass the test by remembering 4 or more quartets.   :D
______________________________

Down Memory Lane

Old Fashioned

Gospel Quartet

A Test For You

Old fashioned Gospel Quartet music varies in many styles, and I like nearly all of them:

1.  Crooner Style - soft, slow, easy listening;

2.  Barbershop - faster tempo, more beat;

3.  Bluegrass - faster tempo - country style.

Some things are common to all styles - 4 part voice blending with either all male or mixed voices from high voice ranges to low voice ranges. It's also quite common that most of this music is a love song to the LORD. Harmony of the 4 part voice is what really draws many people to enjoy Gospel quartets, along with beautiful words that honor and praise our LORD.

The most common instrument used is the piano, but many of the styles utilize lead guitar, bass guitar, violin, bass fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and many others.

So, here's a test, especially for some of the older people here. Some of the younger folks will be saying "There's another old guy stuck in the past." OK, I'm stuck in the past, and my favorite Gospel quartets are from the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Recognize Any Of These Groups?

If I recognize more than four....does that make me older or younger?

One of the groups you mentioned was Greater Vision.  Another group that at times appears with them is the Legacy Five.  One of the Greater Vision and two of the Legacy Five used to be in the Imperials before they retired.

The piano player for the Imperials and Legacy Five..Roger Bennet has undergone bone marrow transplant once, it failed and he is in Houston right now preparing for another transplant.

November 19

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: No Private Sin

Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven
leavens the whole lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that
you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened....
--1 Corinthians 5:6-7

No sin is private. It may be secret but it is not private.

It is a great error to hold, as some do, that each man's conduct
is his own business unless his acts infringe on the rights of
others. "My liberty ends where yours begins," is true, but that
is not all the truth. No one ever has the right to commit an
evil act, no matter how secret. God wills that men should be
free, but not that they be free to commit sin....

Coming still closer, we Christians should know that our
unchristian conduct cannot be kept in our own back yard. The
evil birds of sin fly far and influence many to their
everlasting loss. The sin committed in the privacy of the home
will have its effect in the assembly of the saints. The
minister, the deacon, the teacher who yields to temptation in
secret becomes a carrier of moral disease whether he knows it or
not. The church will be worse because one member sins. The
polluted stream flows out and on, growing wider and darker as
it affects more and more persons day after day and year after
year.  The Size of the Soul, 74,77.

"Lord, this is especially true of us who are leaders in the
church. Show to me and my fellow-servants this morning the
horror of the consequences of our sin. Keep us pure and
faithful, for Your glory. Amen."

(Click to hear music)

I've a home prepared where the saints abide
Just over in the glory land
And I long to be by my Saviour's side
Just over in the glory land

Just over in the glory land
I'll join the happy angel band
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
There with the mighty host I'll stand
Just over in the glory land

I am on my way to those mansions fair
Just over in the glory land
There to sing God's praises and his glory share
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

What a joyful thought that my Lord I'll see
Just over in the glory land
And with kindred saved, there forever be
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

With the blood washed throng I will shout and sing
Just over in the glory land
Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

Title: Re: New Every Morning~November 19

QuoteI am happy to be able to let you all know that my CT scan had no indication of a problem.  The doctor's nurse called this morning and said all was well, at the instruction of the doctor.  If there had been a problem the doctor would have called me, as he has several times before.  So God has blessed me once again with this just being a false alarm.  Needless to say I am relieved.

Larry, I'm singing thank you songs to the Lord!!  This is such wonderful new.  I'm happy, happy happy for you....and for us who love you.  Thank you, Father!

Happy Birthday Jerry and Matt!  This is a great day to get older. ;D

Brother Tom, thank you for the links to FireFox extensions.  I have some from the Mozilla site, but as Larry said, some of my extensions no longer work with the new version.  I'm sure they'll be updating in a hurry.  I want to get Spellbound.  I had missed spell check in Firefox.

I went to see my doctor today.  I didn't get to see her, she had an emergency call at the hospital, but did find out my triglycerides have gone up substantionally.  My cholesterol is good except for that.  I'm not sure what she'll do, but getting back to eating right will help tremendously.  I know I've been eating too many sweets lately.

Back to the SB diet, eh Pat?   :)

It's clear here today, but feels cold to me.

I picked up Amy from the vet today.  She's laying still mostly....and I'm keeping the puppies from her.  They'd love to be climbing all over mom and biting her ears and tail. :)  Tomorrow her maybe-new-owner will come to see her again.  I was hoping they could maybe go for a walk, but she can't be outdoors for three days.  Maybe just a walk in the yard with a leash.  I'll see.

I really appreciate the devotionals, the scriptures, and thoughts to carry me through the day.  I know that the Holy Spirit brings things to our minds to share.......and you give to us because God wanted to say something through you.  I'm going to try to remember this too!  Sometimes I'll start to say something and end up changing my mind and don't.    It isn't about us, is it?  We belong to Him, we each individually have a portion of the very mind of Christ.   Isn't that awesome?!?  So....when we pray and then write what is in our hearts........and minds........we share what the Lord has deposited in us.  I forget this.    Lord, help us to remember that we are here because we are Yours.  We are a part of each other and in You, Jesus, we are complete.  Remind me, oh, remind me.

Brother Tom, though we all don't call each other "brother" or "sister", I think that you do has reminded me that we are truly brother and sister.......His blood in our veins.  I am blessed to get to know you, Professional Grampa, and brother. :)

Marilyn, I thought I answered you about your request to find out more about the upgrade for PSP.  My post got lost I guess, or maybe I stopped before it was posted. lol  Anyway....I received an upgrade offer in the mail with the url address.   Maybe if you went to the site and checked in support or customer service and looked for links.  I'll try too...I know it has to be there somewhere.

love, Nita

Have you all gone through Tom's quartette list?

How many do you know or remember?

PAT....I love your posts. :)

I looked at the lists of quartets, and knew some of the first ones, but not many.  Does that mean I'm really young?  Or just forgetful?  (Don't ask Jane!)

We met the FedEx man on the corner as we were leaving, so I did get the frames today, now am busy getting them assembled.  Whew!  That was close!

Abby is here, and she and Darrel are playing checkers here beside me.  She's pretty good already, but I think he will beat her (she hates that!)  ;D  He doesn't go easy on her, though, says that will make her a better player!

Beth was really excited when we got home.  Her therapist was there working with her, and she said "Mom!!  I WALKED!!  Without my walker!"  Not very far, but even a few steps is a big improvement!  Praise God!

It's been a good day!  The weather man says snow tomorrow night and Sunday, I am so hoping it won't be enough to ruin our travel plans!  Maybe 1 to 4 inches is predicted, so we should still be able to get to Liberal, and hope the airport won't have any problems.

See you tomorrow!

Since my dad absolutely loved gospel quartet music, it's quite possible I would be near the top of those names that I have heard. You see, Daddy and his sister played with all the Speer family kids as the parents (my grandpa and grandma and Mom and Dad Speer) sang at Sunday afternoon singings and quartet get togethers and weekend revivals. Then my grandpa had a nervous breakdown and could not travel any more, so it was at that time that Mom and Dad Speer took their own children on the road. I found a quartet station on my radio not long ago, and have thoroughly enjoyed listening as I drive to and from work each day.

Janet, best wishes for your trip, as well. How exciting. We'll both be bursting with tales to tell when we return to the fold.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be a VERY busy day. Lotsa stuff to do.

Hey, guys, hope y'all have had wonderful birthdays today. Best wishes to you both.

Larry, it's good to hear your report.

Well, I met 5 deadlines, had another one imposed for when I return and 1 was also tabled until I return.

Poor li'l computer - won't be turned on for many days. I guess that will be a big surprise. <chuckle>

Y'all have a good evening.

A long week is almost over.  I have to make a phone call in the morning that I am a little nervous but happy about all at the same time.  If this phone call is successful, it could be a very quick answer to prayer.

If you recognize 4 or more of the above groups, CONGRATULATIONS!
(Small Print:  you have to be over 50 years of age)

If I recognize more than four....does that make me older or younger?

One of the groups you mentioned was Greater Vision. Another group that at times appears with them is the Legacy Five. One of the Greater Vision and two of the Legacy Five used to be in the Imperials before they retired.

The piano player for the Imperials and Legacy Five..Roger Bennet has undergone bone marrow transplant once, it failed and he is in Houston right now preparing for another transplant.

If you are interested www.legacyfive.com will take you there.

Brother Fast Eddie,

I recognize all of them, including the Legacy Five and the Imperials that you mentioned. Let's just say that if you recognize more than 4 or 5 that you are a very intelligent person. We won't say anything about age.    :D  Thanks for the link. I know that many of the sweet Christians in those groups are already home with the LORD.

Love In Christ,
Tom
