Morning Devotional...

GOD'S ACTION
Ephesians 1:3-23 NIV

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will-- to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment--to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Here I am again. :)  It's almost 10 pm here and I'm heading to bed in a minute.  I have to...it's cold!

My Monitor stove keeps shutting off, so I left if off and will call the repairman in the morning.  I have lots of oil and not dust inside, so I don't know what it could be.

BUT........when I came out of church tonight, my windows were starting to freeze.  It's going to be cold tonight.  I put my electric blanket on Kyle's bed because he's upstairs and it gets colder up there.
I'll pile the blankets on and use a little electric heater in the morning.  That, with my oven ,should help till the guy can come out and see what's wrong.  Right now I'm very grateful for my old chenille robe.  lol

Soni,  did it ever stop snowing?  Smart girl....staying inside and getting pictures for Christmas cards.

TBEAR.......you have the cutest graphics.    I'm glad you like us.  ;D   This is a wonderful group of Christian brothers and sisters.  Thanks to Kreative for sending you here.

I need to go check out Marilyn's turquoise nails.   I hope I find the picture before I get too cold.

Good night from cold Oregon.  love, Nita

Etta Sue ~ Great devotion. I really liked it. Pretty Girl Cat stayed in lastnight. She used her litter box. I guess I will leave the lid off her litter box for a short while. She woke me at 6:30am and I looked out and she was across the street at the boys mobilehome and when they went to school she disappeared. About 8:30am Pretty Girl Cat came to the door and wanted back in

Good morning.  It's Monday and Monday was wash day in my Grandmother's day.  So I am doing my laundry in honor of my Grandmother.   ::)

Nita ~ I sure hope you get your Monitor fixed.  I can't imagine spending a night without heat.  I am spoiled.  That is another advantage of living next door to family.  As long as we have electric, one of us will have heat!!!

Jerry ~ I bet Pretty Cat Girl...you need another name for that pretty little kitty...sure enjoyed the warmth of your home to sleep in instead of under someone's mobile home.  She is a Sweety.  See there's a name!

Nita:  Brrrrr  I hope that your heat is fixed soon.  We had that happen last January and ended up buying a new furnace.

Jerry:  It is so nice seeing you in here.

Larry:  We have an older cell phone that we keep in the car & charge it just in case of emergency.  If it is true that we can make a 911 call on on that phone.  I forget about it all the time.

Etta Sue:  I especially liked the quote from A. Lincoln about a person's life

QuoteAnd in the end it's not the years in your life that count.
It's the life in your years.
       - Abraham Lincoln.

That quote is calling us to "do" something with our lives.

Good Morning: Before I came here today I was printing out a couple of Master's tag lessons to do later.

Etta Sue great devotional!

Hello Jerry , good to see you bright and early today. Have Etta Sue take some photos of your Pretty Girl Cat.

During my morning break today I will be going to WM's, we are getting ready for our booth at the Craft Fair in Eureka this coming Saturday. All the proceeds will go to the individual contributors. So I am busily crocheting little bookmarks, big bookmarks , and making prints of my flower photos. I hope something will sell.

Still waiting for my pay check for the first part of November and tomorrow it will be time to turn in another time card for last part of November.Thank you Jesus for taking care of me this month. Although now I will have to send most of my paycheck to my credit card. I hate bills and try to [pay them off ASAP. In my job you never know from one day to the next if you will have a job in the morning.

Tbear, what a meal and that list of desserts is really something.  Sure no one went away hungry.  I see your photo now is appearing.  Helps to have a face to go with the names.

Etta Sue, your devotional is very good today.  Thanks for doing it.

Nita, sure hope you get your furnace fixed today.  I remember how cold our house got several years ago after an ice storm when we had no heat for 3 days.  We do have a kerosine heater that provided daytime warmth but sure didn't leave it on at night.  Don't like the smell either but that was better than being cold.

Carol, glad to hear you have the cell phone to use to call 911.  I believe I could very well get along with that but my wife doesn't agree so we each have a line and a phone.  I think if it were just my wife and I living here (our daughter lives here as well) then we could dispense with the regular land line and go to a family cell plan.  I just read last week that for the first time there are more cell phone lines than land lines.

Jerry, it sounds like you now have a cat that has adopted you.

Good morning Logar.  It sounds like you have a busy schedule today.

Al, my wife uses Splenda in her pumpkin pie all the time as our daughter is diabetic and I really can't tell the difference.  She cooks a lot with it.

The housekeeper is here today so things are getting all cleaned up.  This really helps my wife.  I have several things I need to get done today and we will probably go to the "Y" to exercise and walk this afternoon.  It is another beautiful clear and cool day here.

Isn't that devotional from Ephesians  a marvelous passage?  It makes me think of the lines of the well-known Hymn:  "Nothing in my hands I bring - simply to Thy Cross I cling."  And at least one wonderful fact is made abundantly evident by this passage - It's all up to Him Who loved us!  That means what Paul said in Phil. 1:6 - "being confident in this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."  Because it doesn't depend upon me, therefore it will indeed be completed.  No mixups, no slip-ups here!

LARRY ... I have a question for you since you mentioned that your daughter is a diabetic ... can I ask you what TYPE she is TYPE 1 - that is the ones that use shots & then there is TYPE 2 - which are on medication & watching with DIET & EXERCISE ... the reason I am asking is that I am DIABETIC too & I am TYPE 2 and it's so hard to find friends that share something in common with you so please tell me more about your daughter if is not to personal.  And, do send me your wife's recipe for her PUMPKIN PIE w/ spelda ok.

Glad to see that everyone apporves of my picture.  I want to get one up of my husband & I together but I cannot get it small enough to fit ... but I am working on it so stay tune !!

It is very cold, but not as cold as it usually gets in January.  The temp. here gets down to 30 below and is so cold the snow on the ground squeeckes and cracks when you step on it.  No snowmen when it is that cold.  I think I would take snow and cold more then I would hurricanes though. :)

Hope your day is going well.

Thanks Etta sue for todays devotional,I remember memorizing those verses in college when I was in Campus Crusade for Christ.Still no word from my mom and today  she's been gone for a week.Hum wonder if she will make it into a internet cafe and be able to e-mail me at all.I can't callher as I have no idea how to call iternationaly and my calling card  is about ready to bite the dust ,plus I do not know what the time diff is and would not know when to call. Both of the pups are doing pretty well on the housebreaking ,using the puppy pads, they make me soo proud when they  go  do it on their own and in the correct place. We have snow here  not a lot but more suppose to come so guess we will see.I'm going stir crazy not going out,I stayed home yesterday mostly cause I did not know who to call for a ride.I have to get  both pups vaccinated but I'm goingto do it myself except for rabies and heartworm  so i'll get someone to pick that up for me this week and get it done.I also need to get some cat food over here they let him out but did not bring any over and all I got is some kitty treats and dog food so he has to just eat the kitty treats.I'm going to call my dr and see what happens if I stop the steroids,I don't want pain  but I don't care for the swelling and weight gain either, anyone have a suggestion as to what I should do?Ok well I've rambled enough so thanks all for your prayers and kindness, and John thank you  for always being  there for me and putting up me no matter what,I Love you and can't wait untill you come,Beth

November 29

Spiritual Warfare and Sin: What Past?

I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake;
and I will not remember your sins.
--Isaiah 43:25

One of the old German devotional philosophers took the position that
God loves to forgive big sins more than He does little sins because
the bigger the sin, the more glory accrues to Him for his
forgiveness. I remember the writer went on to say that not only does
God forgive sins and enjoy doing it, but as soon as He has forgiven
them, He forgets them and trusts the person just as if he or she had
never sinned. I share his view that God not only forgives great sins
as readily as little ones, but once He has forgiven them He starts
anew right there and never brings up the old sins again....

When a person makes a mistake and has to be forgiven, the shadow may
hang over him or her because it is hard for other people to forget.
But when God forgives, He begins the new page right there, and then
the devil runs up and says, "What about this person's past?" God
replies: "What past? There is no past. We started out fresh when he
came to Me and I forgave him!"  Faith Beyond Reason, 112.

"Lord, this concept is so foreign to our human understanding and our
human way of doing things. Your grace in forgiving--and forgetting--
is beyond our comprehension. But I worship You for it today. Amen."

Yes Chris, Jerry would be in trouble - but I think you'd like to see it happen!

The amazing aspect of God's forgiveness has to be seen in the Person of the One Who does the forgiving.  A sin against Him is a sin against the absolutely good and gracious God, and the result is that the sin is absolutely horrible and obnoxious.  But what our Savior did on the Cross is every bit as unthinkable as our sin is obnoxious, so we are redeemed!

Sweet Hour of Prayer  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/sweet-hour-of-prayer.mid)

Pray continually.
1 Thessalonians 5:17

Words: William Walford, 1845; appeared in The New York Observer, September 13, 1845, accompanied by the following, written by Thomas Salmon:

During my residence at Coleshill, Warwickshire, England, I became acquainted with W. W. Walford, the blind preacher, a man of obscure birth and connections and no education, but of strong mind and most retentive memory.

In the pulpit he never failed to select a lesson well adapted to his subject, giving chapter and verse with unerring precision and scarcely ever misplacing a word in his repetition of the Psalms, every part of the New Testament, the prophecies, and some of the histories, so as to have the reputation of "knowing the whole Bible by heart."

He actually sat in the chimney corner, employing his mind in composing a sermon or two for Sabbath delivery, and his hands in cutting, shaping and polishing bones for shoe horns and other little useful implements. At intervals he attempted poetry.

On one occasion, paying him a visit, he repeated two or three pieces which he had composed, and having no friend at home to commit them to paper, he had laid them up in the storehouse within.

"How will this do?" asked he, as he repeated the following lines, with a complacent smile touched with some light lines of fear lest he subject himself to criticism. I rapidly copied the lines with my pencil, as he uttered them, and sent them for insertion in the Observer, if you should think them worthy of preservation.

Music: William B. Bradbury, Golden Chain (New York: 1861)

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter's snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah's lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I'll drop and rise
To seize the everlasting prize;
And shout, while passing through the air,
"Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!"

TBEAR;  I'd LOVE your cheesecake recipe.  Perhaps you would like to put it in here, in the "Kitchen" folder.  Pat or Etta Sue - could you give TBEAR a link to the dessert area please?

It must be a four-blanket night tonight but we have actually closed the bedroom window.  I am very grateful for that decision tonight.  The temp will be close to zero by morning but then a warming trend will come later this week.

Soni:  What a wonderful experience when you get to watch and listen to such a beautiful animal.

We had close to a foot of snow here so it is lovely to look at but watch out for the ninny drivers - one almost nailed us today as she took her heavy vehicle around the corner at normal speed and found herself in our lane - but Don was watching her and stayed out of the way.  I suppose you don't have as many around who drive like that.  We have many angels protecting us. It was only a week ago that the very thing happened and there wasn't any snow on the road either.

Larry:  I agree with your Pat about having the cell phone and land phone as well.  There are times when only the land phone will work.

Hi Pat!  Are you having everyone over for the holidays or visiting them?

Carol

Hi Carol...  Are you getting lots of photos of that snow?  Ours hasn't come yet but it will soon enough.

We haven't got our holiday plans made yet except that on Boxing Day the family will be altogether.

Well I am dropping in here for a minute to say hello.  We have had a cloudy day and tonight it has started raining and we may have a lot of rain through the night.

We have several who have come tonight to put up and decorate our Christmas tree.  One daughter, one son-in-law, one grandson, one granddaughter one grand-son-in-law.  We had chili for supper and now they are all working.  I am trying to stay out of their way..

It is good to see everyone today.

Eph 4:30-32
30   And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31   Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
32   Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

All the discussion and photos of snow and cold sure makes me happy to be living in Georgia.  Some years we don't have any snow at all and that is just fine with me.

Tbear, I sent you an instant message in response to your earlier posting.

Beth, sorry about the cabin fever you are experiencing.  Hope you here from your Mother soon but sure they must be having a great time.  She is probably riding elephants and doing other exciting things there in Thailand.  Glad you have the animals and the bird to keep to company.  My wife's sister has two parakets and they are a lot of company and entertainment for her.

Not much new down this way.  Really didn't get much accomplished today.  Pat and I did go to the "Y" to exercise and walk and then to the library.

I will be checking in tomorrow.

Hi Folks

My wife Betty and I have signed up for computer classes for seniors and we had our first lesson today. There were about 10 of us, and the instructor was fabulous. Betty's hand started to become sore, and when the instructor found out that she was left handed, she switched the mouse so that she could use it with her left hand.

Pat, in my last Email, instead of depressed, I should have said 'frustrated' with trying to post photos. However I now feel that I am on the right track, and it is only a matter of time until I master it.

Best regards to everyone   Stephen

Sister Pat,

The music was beautiful today. It looks like I barely slipped in today's NEM. THANKS!!!

Colossians 2:13  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

We are born in a physical body of sin that is doomed to death and destruction. Sin will rule and reign over our flesh until we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour. There is a beautiful comparison for those of us who have accepted Jesus. Our old man of sin and death died with Jesus on the Cross. We were born again, and that is compared to Jesus rising from the dead to be our Living Lord and Saviour. "Quickened" is an interesting word in this Scripture.  It indicates immediate, translated, transferred. When we accept Jesus, we are immediately a new person in Jesus, and we belong to him forever. Our sins are forgiven, only because of the Sacrifice and Blood of Jesus. Our immediate translation into Jesus clearly proves that Salvation is not something we work for or earn, rather it is the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross for us. Salvation is a Gift of Grace and Love from God. We can accept this Gift only by having faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other way to be Saved.

So, here's a thought that might improve your rest. There is no greater joy than resting in Jesus and knowing that you are safe and secure in HIS Mighty Hands forever.

Love In Christ,
Tom

STEPHEN, I'm so glad to see you posting in New every Morning.  That's great!  I'm glad that the two of you attended this class as well.  What a nice instructor you have!  Try to come here each day and you'll just be an old hand at it so quickly.

Then photos will come next.

Thanks again for posting, Stephen!

Please say "Hi" to your wife for me and I still might make it into Toronto soon and we'll have lunch at the Swiss Chalet or somewhere.
