Morning Devotional..."Be ye separate."[/size]
2 Corinthians 6:17
The Christian, while
in the world, is not to be
of the world. He should be distinguished from it in the great object of his life.
To him, "to live," should be "Christ." Whether he eats, or drinks, or whatever he does, he should do all to God's glory.
You may lay up treasure; but lay it up in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, where thieves break not through nor steal. You may strive to be rich; but be it your ambition to be "rich in faith," and good works.
You may have pleasure; but when you are merry, sing psalms and make melody in your hearts to the Lord. In your spirit, as well as in your aim, you should differ from the world.
Waiting humbly before God, always conscious of His presence, delighting in communion with Him, and seeking to know His will, you will prove that you are of heavenly race.
And you should be separate from the world in your actions. If a thing be right, though you lose by it, it must be done; if it be wrong, though you would gain by it, you must scorn the sin for your Master's sake.
You must have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Walk worthy of your high calling and dignity.
Remember, O Christian, that thou art a son of the King of kings. Therefore, keep thyself unspotted from the world. Soil not the fingers which are soon to sweep celestial strings; let not these eyes become the windows of lust which are soon to see the King in His beauty–let not those feet be defiled in miry places, which are soon to walk the golden streets–let not those hearts be filled with pride and bitterness which are ere long to be filled with heaven, and to overflow with ecstatic joy.
Then rise my soul! and soar away,
Above the thoughtless crowd;
Above the pleasures of the gay,
And splendours of the proud;
Up where eternal beauties bloom,
And pleasures all divine;
Where wealth, that never can consume,
And endless glories shine.

"Be ye separate"

How different our world would be if the Christians would live their life totally sold out to Jesus. How different our actions would be if we used John 3:16 for a filter for how we viewed our neighbors.
We are in this sinful world, yet we can live here, and be above reproach because we have a higher calling and we obey it. Just because my neighbor "gets dirty" doesn't mean I have to roll around in the mud with her to help her out. What good can I be to someone who is filthy, if I, myself, cannot show the advantage of being clean.
I think the key to being able to live in the world, without being of the world is letting Christ so reign in our hearts, that it controls our minds, our beliefs, our actions, and our attitudes. When that happens, God is able to do God-sized things, and people will want to stop the stuff they are doing, and see what is going on in the Christians' lives.

Well said,
KARMA! Not much one can add to your observations... Oh, to be like Jesus ...
PAT~ I didn't get (take) the chance to comment on my very favorite hymn... Great Is Thy Faithfulness... I ask for this, as my testimony, whenever there is an opportunity for special requests at our monthly Praise Gathering at church. God has been sooooo faithful ... Morning by morning new mercies I see...
Aaahhhh. Thanks.
Jane, I know that's one of your favorites! Glad you liked it.
Here's one I used to sing a lot when I was asked to sing in various churches. Now, I can no longer sing it without the tears flowing. Oh, how much my Saviour loves me and how I've failed Him so very often.

The way that He loves is as fair as the day,
that blesses my way with light;
The way that He loves is as soft as the breeze,
Caressing the trees at night.
So tender and precious is He,
Contented with Jesus, I'll be.
The way that He loves is so thrilling because
His love reaches even me.
The way that He loves is as deep as the sea,
His spirit shall be my stay;
The way that He loves is as pure as a rose,
Much sweeter He grows each day.
His peace hovers near like a dove,
I know there's a Heaven above;
To Jesus I cling-life's a wonderful thing
Because of the way He loves.

Aaahhh PAT~I don't know this song, but I already love it...Thank you for posting it (and the music) here tonight. I understand why the tears flow :'( ... I love you, but He loves you more! :)
7 .10 a.m. England.
Oh Pat thank-you for another of Spurgeon's wonderful writings...I love his work.
My dear little Sunday dog got me up at 6 a.m. I did a few minor tasks and am here early to say Hello folks. However, I am perturbed to see that Pat is still up in Canada and it must be about 2 a.m. over there. I do hope she is alright., also that the snow isn't too heavy. Is Geordie alright I wonder. I am going to have a little prayer time in a few minutes and I shall pray for Pat. Please God let her have a nice sleep.
It is extremely windy here this morning...I think Iain has sent it across from Lewis, I know he doesn't like the wind.
I am having trouble with this modem...It keeps refusing my password to enter. Chris and I each have a password to enter. I have used the Manual for this "Hi-Grade Notebook"...the instructions worked yesterday but the same problem arose this morning.
If you don't see me for a while know it's the "puter"
"Jesus love is so wonderful, Jesus love is so wonderful, Jesus love is so wonderful......so wonderful love".
The Lord bless you all dear brothers and sisters and give you His peace.
Speak later,.

Are you restless today, driven by discontent and a longing for that elusive "something More"?
Jesus Christ is the source and satisfaction of all you seek. Come to Him today and find rest for your soul
Matthew 11 : 28
David Roper
Looking to Jesus, my spiret is blest,
The world is in turmoil, in Him I have rest;
The sea of my life around me may roar,
When i look to Jesus, i hear it no more.
ANON
Good morning - I see I must have been the official "bonk-ee" last night! At any rate, twice this week I've been able to read in CP without all the display problems I've had with my old computer. What a blessing!
Y'all have a good day.
Ruth Ann
Pat I do remember you singing that hymn. Itoo understand why the tears flow.
Ria I will be praying for you today. May God's protection surround you and your family.
Iain Why will the moon be red?
Jenny if I have a problem with the puter, I ask Melaura for help. She isn't 13 yet and knows more about the puter than I ever will. The youth of today seem to have a built in sence for the intracasies (sp?) of computers.
Well John is coming home today, he has an Hours of Service Course to complete and prepare for teaching in two weeks. The Canadian DOT hasn't finalized the Canadian changes, so the course will have to be changed again to include our changes.
Must go. I will be back,

Hello, everybody! Not a lot to say this morning, but I wanted to at least say howdy.
Karma's in the mood to take pictures today, so I guess taking her to the mall and giving her $1000 to spend will just have to wait. Oh, well, the things she misses...
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Bye for now,
LiarNard
Thought I would pop in and say Morning!
I am going to go take pictures today. I wonder if I will see Karmat?
I hope you all have a good day!

P.s. Great devotion, Pat!
Good Morning. Pat: I am still thinking about "Be ye separate" I am reminded of a demonstrated sermon at a church I used to attend. This was the text "Be Ye separate".
The demonstration he used was a glass of water, Clean, clear, and pure. Then he dipped his finger in some motor oil and then into the water. He said that is how we can become stained by the world unless we separate ourselves.
We can be in the world and not of it, and we have to be careful in our efforts to help others that we do not become stained by their sin. But to carry ourselves as Children of God at all times and set the example for others.
He didn't say to separate ourselves from the world, we have to live in the world, just to not allowed other's sins to rub off on us. The example was that God's children were the water and the sins of others was the oil, the two do not mix together.
Iain That is a beautiful photos in the devotional.
It is raining here again today. Alot of rain which is pretty normal for this area of California, just ask Brother AL.
God Bless you all and I pray you will have a God Blessed Day.
Rachelle ~ I have a clear cover over mine...that sticks on with velcro. But there are special cloths that are for Flat Screens. I got mine at Office Depot. Screen Cleaner in a spray bottle and Scotch-Brite Microfiber Cleaning Cloths.
I started this post about 3 hours ago. Phone calls, IM's, and visitors has delayed me. Plus again, and I didn't realize it until Ivalou said she paid her taxes...I didn't get anything from the Treasurer's Office about my taxes that are due MONDAY!!!! So first thing Monday morning, I have to call them and then either mail them or go to the court house and pay them there. Makes me wonder what is going on that I didn't get my taxes at this address. Last spring they went to Greenfield and I thought it was all straightened out. Ha! Just glad that Ivalou mentioned it. If I had discovered this two weeks later then I would be paying a penalty! Thank God, I have been reading 'Purpose Driven Life' and realize not to sweat the small stuff. This too shall pass. And everything good comes from problems.

We in the UK are expecting a full eclipse of the full moon tonight, Iain will probably get it if he stays up late!
But we in the Manchester area are totally clouded over, as we have been all day.
Oh well,
As long as we have the "Son", :) amen. :)
We may have a full eclipse of the moon tonight also. I think I heard that - and a meteor shower later this month.
I am still cold from helping early this morning at a Habitat race - they made me the herder and my job was to force everyone into a narrow line and watch that the people got into the line in the order they crossed the finish line. Whew! Sometimes it was so close. Made some money for Habitat for Humanity and the woman & children who are getting the house now were in the race also. Met a woman who just moved here away from an abusive husband & starting her life alone so I invited her to our church and she may come. An interesting morning but we were all chilled to the bone.
That is an interesting discussion about leading a separate life as a Christian. Carol
It sure will be great if Iain is successful in taking a photo of the red moon tonight!

The Lighthouse (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/lighthouse.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Then Jesus spoke to them again,
saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows
Me shall not walk in darkness,
but have the light of life."
John 8:12
Words and Music: ©Ronnie Hinson
There's a Lighthouse on the hillside,
that overlooks life's sea.
When I'm tossed it sends out a light,
light that I might see.
And the light that shines in darkness,
now will safely lead me home,
And if it wasn't for the lighthouse,
my ship would sail no more.
And I thank God for The Lighthouse,
I owe my life to Him.
Jesus is The Lighthouse
and from the rocks of sin,
He has shown the light around me,
so that I might clearly see.
And if it wasn't for The Lighthouse,
where would this ship be?
Everyone that lives around us,
says tear that old lighthouse down,
The big ships don't sail this way anymore,
ain't no use in it standing round.
But then my mind goes back to that stormy night,
when just in time I saw the light
With the light from that old lighthouse,
that stands there on the hill.
And I thank God for The Lighthouse,
I owe my life to Him.
Jesus is The Lighthouse
and from the rocks of sin,
He has shown the light around me,
so that I might clearly see.
And if it wasn't for The Lighthouse,
Where would this ship be?

The eclipse is not until tomorrow morning at around one O'clock so there is no chance of me seeing it. I'll be in Hawaii. ZZzzzzzzzzz

Carol, Sounds like you had a wonderful day and
helped people in the process. That is always good.
I hope that gal makes it to church.
Drink some hot cocoa and sit in a chair with a big
warm blanket. That always warms me up. ;D
I am home early from work. The rain is coming down in sheets (more then just buckets). Too hard to see to drive, so not getting the car window put permanently up.
I finally got paypal straightened up closed the other account and fixed the new one, Now I can get a membership at DPC and post photos.

woohooo...Marilyn!
Hi, Kids! I have returned from a nice day with my painting pals. Today we painted a farm scene, or birdhouses (painter's choice) on a small galvanized bucket. Cute, but I don't know what I will do with it; of course it would make a nice little gift, and Christmas is coming soon!
Lots of good chatter and encouragement here today. I am still hurting; don't know what the problem is, but hope it goes away SOON.
Lee, we will miss you.
Hi, Karma! Hi Sonja! Hi Marilyn! Hi Jane! Oh, shucks, HELLO, EVERYBODY!
Hi everyone. Just going to do a quick check in this evening. Have read all the postings today and from where I left off yesterday.
Pat and I had a nice day as we went out for breakfast with a couple of friends and then came home to pick up some fabric panels that Pat's sewing group at church will use to make quilo's (a pillow that folds out into a small quilt). We then went over to the home of another couple of friends and while the ladies picked out fabric to go with the panels from this ladies large selection of fabrics, I had a nice visit with her husband. We then stopped at the library. By the time we got home I was ready for a nap.
Yesterday I had a good demonstration of the benefits I am getting from the heart medicine I am taking. I forgot to take my pills in the morning and then to take the one pill at noon. By early afternoon I had angina that just wouldn't go away and ended up taking a lot of nitro and going to bed about 7 pm. Believe me I didn't forget it today and think it will be awhile before I make that mistake again. I am fine today.
Marilyn, sure glad the truck driver was alert! :o
Looks like ya'll have been quiet today.
I have printed the last 10 lessons for PSP8, reformatted some floppies, visited Ivalou and said Good night to Jerry on IM. Now is the time to get in the shower so my hair will be dry before bedtime...then find something to eat. I also forgot I said I would make a form so people could leave them for us to copy audio cassette tapes for them at church. Gotta do that, too!
I am praying that everyone has a great, fantastic Lord's Day.
I sure miss Mieka!!! :'( :'( :'(

Hurry back, little one!!!
http://www.livingthesolution.com/worldlybeliever.htm
My we are a quiet busy bunch today. We are only on page two and we usually are on page 5 or 6.
We have been busy too, I picked John up and we headed home. He felt the vibration in the van as we drove and we decided that we needed to get new tires. As it turned out $360 later that the rear right - (passeenger side) was separting and that weas causing the vibration.
Have a good night all, not likely I will be back. See y'all tomorrow evening.
Love JudyB

Hi Pat and Etta Sue and all the Rest of You-Ha I made a Rhyme lol. I seem to do that alot it comes nataurally..
Today has been very busy-this morning dealing with issues with my older girls-bickering with one another-teasing-so mom had to put a stop to it! I do not allow it in our home-I try and teach our children about how Jesus would want us to act -the problem lies with some issues that have been happening in our neighborhood-Please cover us in prayer over this-we have been dealing with this for years..
Ok-then I took our 2nd oldest to a friends to play-and went shopping, came home and fed the other kids and now I am trying to do a few things..
How much is the membership to dpc?
Home all of you have a great day.
Love ya
Rachelle
O! How I enjoy the Charles Spurgeon devotional. :)
I'm ashamed :-[ to say that I must be the only one here never to have read any of his books. This makes me want to get one. I hope the library has them..if not, well, friends........maybe there would be on in our library here.
I went to work this AM to see how many cottonseed we got yesterday and to post them in the computer for payment. We received 1140 Tons....52 trks! This year will be a good year for the farmers, ginners, and cottonseed oil mills. :)
The weather has turned rather chilly today...it's 52 degrees now at 6:30 PM and the north wind is blowing. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Indian summer we have had lately! I do feel sorry for all of you having snow and really cold weather. My bones are already aching :(
I've been invited to a supper for my grandson who is to soon go to basic training in the army.
Farewell for now...maybe I can come back later :)
PS..Thanks for the song about the Lighthouse, Pat
Chris, thanks for that. I'm printing that out as I type this. That's a really good message and it goes so well with today's devotional from Mr. Spurgeon.
This stood out for me...
Quote
Jesus told us we can't serve two masters. We will either hate the one and love the other, or we will be under constant tension trying to satisfy both.
Judy, if you scroll back through the Saturdays and Sundays of the history of CP, you'll see that both these days have been slow on here.
Yes we must resist even to the point of death, all of our eternity rests on resisting "worldliness,"
and all it's subtle deceits,
we so easily slide back into old habits, but when we cannot get the victory over some sin or habit, then we must "let go, and let God" for only in the strength that God the Holy Spirit gives freely to us, when we cry out for help, can we win the continual battle.
But thanks be to God Who ALWAYS gives us the victory!

Romans ch. 6-7-8 indeed!
We need to cry out more, and sooner too.
And if we do fall, we must run to Him and confess it all, "for He will abundantly pardon." Isaiah ch 55 v 6-7.
Isaiah ch 1 v 18-20.
What a wonderful, merciful Saviour.
Larry, Sorry about your angina. Be sure to take your medicine. I haven't had any chest pains since we came home from the hospital. When I started having chest pains some weeks ago we went to the hospital and I spent three weeks there. I'm going back Monday to see the cardiologist.
The Lunar eclipse can been seen right now very clearly here. We just came back in and I am going back out again. I tried making a picture but my little camera didn't pick it up good.
Tomorrow is the Lord's day and we are looking forward to the fellowship and worship as we meet with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Thank you Pat...... I love both those pieces of music. It's so nice to listen to music while I read the posts.
I went to Sheridan's, a garden center, last night and they had a pre-Christmas sale. So I bought some candles that smell like apple pie or cinnamon buns. The house smells wonderful now.
Nice atmosphere.
Ruthie ;)
Oh Ruthie - I love those scents too! I always forget to light my candles... always afraid I will forget one and have a fire.
Had to go to town this afternoon to pay a bill that I had totally forgotten about., I was away from my car for precisely 7 minutes., and when I came back to the car, I had a parking ticket for $10.00! I think the meter maid was watchingme!...she HAD to have, as I wasn't away long. (me thinks me will fight it......lol). Of course, I won't... its my fault.
Pat - I had never heard of the first song you printed!., love the Lighthouse one.
I'm off to check some other areas in here.
Rachelle a 1 year membership at DPC iis $25.00
Just stopping by to do some reading and catching up on the posts since the last time.
Gonna shower and wash my air so it will be dry l(ike Etta Sue) beforeI go to bed.
I dumped all my pictures from my camera to the puter, and now I can't find them. >:(
We saw a little of the eclipse. Then, we saw a lot of the clouds. >:(
I am a barrell of happiness right now. >:(
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :P :P :P :P :P :P ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Is everyone watching the lunar eclipse?
I have a ringside seat at my back door!
Okay, found my pictures. I am doing better now. :P
I hope everyone has had a good weekend so far. We've really enjoyed the day today. Got some family pics (yes, even I am in there -- look for a profile pic before too long).
Just had a good time.
Marilyn, Glad you got the dpc thing worked out. I look forward to seeing your entries!!!!
Well, well, well, our requests have been answered..Karma is going to put her photo here....great!! - will look for it!
OH ya! I got some good shots of the lunar eclipse and some others. God sure creates some beautiful sunsets for us.
Lila Mae loves the moon! I took her outside just a few minutes ago and she said "Wow, ewww...aaahhh!!!"
Then I ran back inside because it is COLD outside. BRrrrrrzzzz....
I am going to look at a few of my shots. I might be back later. 8)
Our annual Veterans Day dinner, put on by the American Legion, was tonight and tomorrow is the special ceremony for taking down the flags in the Veterans Memorial Park. We enjoyed the dinner, but it's COLD out and the car hardly had time to warm up before we got home.
The eclipse was just full when we came in but it's too cold to use the camera, since it would take too long to get it set up on the tripod and focused on the moon. Oh well, at least it wasn't too cloudy to see it this time. :) It was a pretty deep pink color, at least that's how it looked in this area.
I don't see anything out there. With all the rain we had today It is probably cloudy. unless of course it hasn't arrived here yet, haha Isn't it at the same time everywhere.? Or What?
Hi Its Me..
I just came back to read the rest of the post..then Im off to work--lol glad i can stay inside to do that..Thank You Marilyn about telling me about dpc- I will have to join that when I have a little extra cash..well, the day is ending and I ended up with 2 more children-so that means I have 6 kids tonight(please pray for me lol). there doing well together and hopefully they won't try and stay up all night-my 13 year old was gone last night to a missionettes stay over and I sure missed her-amazing how much you miss them when there away lol-she is spending time with me tonight.

Rachelle
Well, I am back again and like Rachelle I want to say a good night and hope we all will enjoy our LORD's day tomorrow.
God Bless all of you ;) :) ;)
Rachelle, You don't need to pay to join. You can enter the non-member challenges.
Where does one find the non member challenges. I have to wait a few days or longer to join. The budget you know. ::) I also want to experiment more with my camera. I have been studying the book and the different settings. It sure is a lot of stuff. I shoul also get a tripod.
I'm not Sonja but I can tell you, Marilyn.
The non-member challenges are listed right below the member ones.
For instance, this time, the Member challenge is called "Sacred Places" and the non-Member challenge is called "Book Titles".
Thanks Pat/Sonja ;D
I am going to bed now and watch TV in there.
