JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Sweet Hour of Prayer
(Click to hear music)

Pray continually.
1 Thessalonians 5:17

Words: William Walford, 1845; appeared in The New York Observer, September 13, 1845, accompanied by the following, written by Thomas Salmon:

During my residence at Coleshill, Warwickshire, England, I became acquainted with W. W. Walford, the blind preacher, a man of obscure birth and connections and no education, but of strong mind and most retentive memory.

In the pulpit he never failed to select a lesson well adapted to his subject, giving chapter and verse with unerring precision and scarcely ever misplacing a word in his repetition of the Psalms, every part of the New Testament, the prophecies, and some of the histories, so as to have the reputation of "knowing the whole Bible by heart."

He actually sat in the chimney corner, employing his mind in composing a sermon or two for Sabbath delivery, and his hands in cutting, shaping and polishing bones for shoe horns and other little useful implements. At intervals he attempted poetry.

On one occasion, paying him a visit, he repeated two or three pieces which he had composed, and having no friend at home to commit them to paper, he had laid them up in the storehouse within.

"How will this do?" asked he, as he repeated the following lines, with a complacent smile touched with some light lines of fear lest he subject himself to criticism. I rapidly copied the lines with my pencil, as he uttered them, and sent them for insertion in the Observer, if you should think them worthy of preservation.

Music: William B. Bradbury, Golden Chain (New York: 1861)

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter's snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah's lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I'll drop and rise
To seize the everlasting prize;
And shout, while passing through the air,
"Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!"

Hi Alma!  Long time no post. hehehe... How was your Thanksgiving?

Pat, I can't believe VCR's would be obsolete.  We have 3 and use them more then the dvd on the xbox.  What would I do with all of our tapes?  ugh!

Pat

I feel similar, Soni.  What an eye opening article.

Hi Chris ~ I hope a young lady doesn't walk around the corner, but one never knows does one? I will be careful though. LOL!!!! ;)

Now Al, I think you would like to see that happen too! I live in a mobile home park and all kinds come through here. ;D

Judy McKenna

TBEAR;  I'd LOVE your cheesecake recipe.  Perhaps you would like to put it in here, in the "Kitchen" folder.  Pat or Etta Sue - could you give TBEAR a link to the dessert area please?
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Pat

Judy, she put it in here and it's also in the Weight Loss Recipes area.

All kinds Jerry?  Are there even more kinds?  Would they like you calling them another kind?  (and - yes, I would)

Carol

It must be a four-blanket night tonight but we have actually closed the bedroom window.  I am very grateful for that decision tonight.  The temp will be close to zero by morning but then a warming trend will come later this week.

Soni:  What a wonderful experience when you get to watch and listen to such a beautiful animal.

We had close to a foot of snow here so it is lovely to look at but watch out for the ninny drivers - one almost nailed us today as she took her heavy vehicle around the corner at normal speed and found herself in our lane - but Don was watching her and stayed out of the way.  I suppose you don't have as many around who drive like that.  We have many angels protecting us. It was only a week ago that the very thing happened and there wasn't any snow on the road either.

Larry:  I agree with your Pat about having the cell phone and land phone as well.  There are times when only the land phone will work.

Hi Pat!  Are you having everyone over for the holidays or visiting them?

Carol

Pat

Hi Carol...  Are you getting lots of photos of that snow?  Ours hasn't come yet but it will soon enough.

We haven't got our holiday plans made yet except that on Boxing Day the family will be altogether.

Well I am dropping in here for a minute to say hello.  We have had a cloudy day and tonight it has started raining and we may have a lot of rain through the night.

We have several who have come tonight to put up and decorate our Christmas tree.  One daughter, one son-in-law, one grandson, one granddaughter one grand-son-in-law.  We had chili for supper and now they are all working.  I am trying to stay out of their way..

It is good to see everyone today.

Eph 4:30-32
30   And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31   Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
32   Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
(NIV)

All the discussion and photos of snow and cold sure makes me happy to be living in Georgia.  Some years we don't have any snow at all and that is just fine with me.

Tbear, I sent you an instant message in response to your earlier posting.

Beth, sorry about the cabin fever you are experiencing.  Hope you here from your Mother soon but sure they must be having a great time.  She is probably riding elephants and doing other exciting things there in Thailand.  Glad you have the animals and the bird to keep to company.  My wife's sister has two parakets and they are a lot of company and entertainment for her.

Not much new down this way.  Really didn't get much accomplished today.  Pat and I did go to the "Y" to exercise and walk and then to the library.

I will be checking in tomorrow.

Pat

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Hi Folks

My wife Betty and I have signed up for computer classes for seniors and we had our first lesson today. There were about 10 of us, and the instructor was fabulous. Betty's hand started to become sore, and when the instructor found out that she was left handed, she switched the mouse so that she could use it with her left hand.

Pat, in my last Email, instead of depressed, I should have said 'frustrated' with trying to post photos. However I now feel that I am on the right track, and it is only a matter of time until I master it.

Best regards to everyone   Stephen

OK Tom

Sister Pat,

The music was beautiful today. It looks like I barely slipped in today's NEM. THANKS!!!

Colossians 2:13  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

We are born in a physical body of sin that is doomed to death and destruction. Sin will rule and reign over our flesh until we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour. There is a beautiful comparison for those of us who have accepted Jesus. Our old man of sin and death died with Jesus on the Cross. We were born again, and that is compared to Jesus rising from the dead to be our Living Lord and Saviour. "Quickened" is an interesting word in this Scripture.  It indicates immediate, translated, transferred. When we accept Jesus, we are immediately a new person in Jesus, and we belong to him forever. Our sins are forgiven, only because of the Sacrifice and Blood of Jesus. Our immediate translation into Jesus clearly proves that Salvation is not something we work for or earn, rather it is the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross for us. Salvation is a Gift of Grace and Love from God. We can accept this Gift only by having faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other way to be Saved.

So, here's a thought that might improve your rest. There is no greater joy than resting in Jesus and knowing that you are safe and secure in HIS Mighty Hands forever.

Love In Christ,
Tom

STEPHEN, I'm so glad to see you posting in New every Morning.  That's great!  I'm glad that the two of you attended this class as well.  What a nice instructor you have!  Try to come here each day and you'll just be an old hand at it so quickly.

Then photos will come next.

Thanks again for posting, Stephen!

Please say "Hi" to your wife for me and I still might make it into Toronto soon and we'll have lunch at the Swiss Chalet or somewhere.
