Morning Devotional...Failure and Success:
The School of Failure
As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. --Psalm 103:13-14
For some of us last year was one in which we did not acquit ourselves very nobly as Christians, considering the infinite power available to us through the indwelling Spirit. But through the goodness of God we may go to school to our failures. The man of illuminated mind will learn from his mistakes, yes even from his sins. If his heart is trusting and penitent, he can be a better man next year for last year's fault-but let him not return again to folly. Repentance should be radical and thorough, and the best repentance for a wrong act, as Fenelon said, is not to do it again....
Brother Lawrence expressed the highest moral wisdom when he testified that if he stumbled and fell he turned at once to God and said, "O Lord, this is what You may expect of me if You leave me to myself." He then accepted forgiveness, thanked God and gave himself no further concern about the matter.
The Warfare of the Spirit, pp. 102-104"Oh Lord, some of us have graduate degrees from this school! Help us to learn well from our failures, to accept Christ's forgiveness, and to move on. Give victory for today, I pray, in Jesus' name. Amen."
Thank you for the good Word, Pat. God's Word is so powerful and we are so blessed by His Word! His Word reminds us of just how blessed we are!
Here's a passage I've been chewing on today, from Paul's letter to the Ephesian believers.
How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He's the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.
In His Grip,
Kevin

I'll second Kevin and say Amen as well.
And a bright and cheerful good morning to all. Hope all are well and blessed. It's been hard getting back into the swing of work but with God's help I will.
I uploaded 4 pics from our trip, enjoy!
Blessings,

Good advice, Pat. It's so very common for us to come to God, tell Him about our sins, then pick up the guilt and carry it away with us. It dishonors God. It dishonors the forgiveness that has been won in the Cross of Christ. Oh let's honor Him!

Carl ~ If you read this, I just want you to know that I am praying for all present at your mother-in-laws celebration of her life. Remember her fondly and realize that it was God's presence that gave her that life. Safe traveling, brother!
I am all ready to head to Indiana University today. I have to bypass downtown Greenfield because today is set up day for Riley Days. James Whitcomb Riley was born in Greenfield, Indiana. Remember 'Li'l Orphant Annie'? His birthday was October 8th so Riley Days is close to that date. About a dozen blocks are closed downtown and all kinds of booths, food, music, parade, talent contests, etc. will be going up until Sunday evening. I used to do Riley Days every year but haven't since moving here 5 years ago.
Will be back later tonight.<: )) ))><<~~> <: )) ))><<~~< <: )) ))><<~~<

Hello, all!
Larry, so good to have you back. Now, don't work too hard catching up, everything will wait until you feel better.
Another crisp fall morning here! :)
I have to get everyting ready for my little trip this weekend, then go back to spend the night with Abby again tonight. In the morning, will get her off to school, then drive home to catch my ride to Wichita.
Happy day, everybody!
Good words about accepting forgiveness - then moving on! Thank you, Pat!
Larry: What Janet wrote is so true - no need to catch up on everything - care for yourself.
This is my favorite time of the year and I do enjoy the crisp weather and beautiful leaves although they are falling much too quickly this year.
Carol
It's raining, it's pouring
Hope everyone is having a great day.
Pat, and everyone, we had some scattering of rain, very light, but today we have mostly sunshine again.
Oh, Pat...such a wonderful devotional. I like the comment of Brother Lawrence. "Lord, this is what You can expect of me if You leave me to myself".
That is akin to seeing, truly, that in ourselves, apart from God's Spirit within, there is no good thing. We simply cannot be left alone. :-\. I'm so in awe and grateful that His love draws Him to the same conclusion. <3
WOW! Lots of new pictures. You photographers have been busy. I'm headed to look. Nita

How true, Nita, but our Lord said, "I will NEVER leave thee nor forsake thee!" We do not deserve it, but He promises it nevertheless.
Hi everyone. Still not feeling very well and was able to get an appointment with my cardiologist's PA tomorrow morning.
Just wanted to stop by and say hi and now will go back and try to catch up on the postings I have missed. I finally got my e-mails and web work caught up so have a little breathing room.
Till tomorrow.
Hi Everyone...
Glad you're resting Larry. Happy too that you got an appointment for tomorrow. We have to talk about PayPal.
He to the rest of you.
Looks like Anna won the Mini Challenge so we'll ask her to choose the next topic.

Congratulation Anna and Carl on your wins. Great photograph.
I thought I posted today but I guess I didn't.
Next Friday I am going to Portland Oregon with so of my business group to the Regional conference. didn't cost me anything someone else has paid for it all. Of course I will pay her back. I am taking my camera, but don't know if I will have a chance to go anyplace exciting to photograph we may not get any sightseeing done.
Cora from next door is going to stay here at night with my babies and will be in and out during the day. We sold Gilbert's car to her daughter today.

Congratulations to the winners, Anna and Carl! Great photos, and you deserve your wins.
If everyone was like me, it was hard to vote on just three. Many good entries.
It seems as the quality of photos just keeps getting better and better. Nita
I will be traveling to Colorado Springs for the funeral tomorrow through Sunday. See you when I return.
Congrats Anna! I voted for 2 of your images but, ironically, not your winning one. Well done!
Carl, we'll be praying for travelling safety. Talk to you when you get home.
It's that time again.
Time to close up shop!
