Morning Devotional...

I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5

A London schoolboy submitted his essay and to his amazement he won first prize.

One line, which may have appealed to the judge, was, "I believe so many twins are born because little children are afraid to enter the world all alone."

While his conclusion may be on rather shaky ground, it does point out a problem in our society. Most of us dislike loneliness.

The believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, however, has the assurance that we need never be lonely, because He will never leave us nor forsake us.
                                                           --Arnot P. McIntee

O soul, hast thou forgotten the tender words and sweet,
Of Him who left behind Him the path of pierced feet?
I never will forsake thee, O child so weary grown;
Remember, I have promised never to leave thee alone.

;D Hi Ms Nita   ;D I am SO happy to see you did get a #9 on the DPC. I did not even know you are on there.

Are there others from the CP on the DPC?  ???

Hi Ms Pat  ;D I have promised never to leave thee alone.

This promise, is it for only ones that do know Jesus? Are the others alone at times? He does love everyone all the same, yes? I do know times when I was very alone.  :-[

WAIT ON THE LORD; BE OF GOOD COURAGE, AND HE
SHALL STRENGTHEN YOUR HEART; WAIT, I SAY, ON
   THE LORD.

Pat do you think you can find the words and music for the hymn  "In Hin Time" ?  It would be a good one to sing today.

Lovely thought this morning Pat.

Jenny - You are right about a touch of winter. Looks like we are in for a right blast this weekend. I see the seagulls are getting their stabilisers ready!

Ken - Much on my mind this morning bro. Are you back lecturing?

Here are a few of my thoughts this chilly morning:-

If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.'

Numbers 14:8-9

The difference of living by faith and living by sight is all to apparent in these chapters. The spies had done a recce of the Promised Land and they had come back laden with fruit yet with two very different tales.

On the one hand, all they could see were impossibilities, with giants barring their way, while viewed by others the land was splendid indeed. The lack of trust and the spiritual blindness of the majority left the whole camp wandering needlessly in the wilderness for many a long year.

Not until all who had complained had perished by the wayside did they eventually cross the border. They had been so close but God tells them to turn away and start trekking towards the Red Sea.

God is not mocked!

Those who decided to take things into their own hands perished at the hands of the Amalekites and Canaanites.

God's way is always best.

A new start, a new job, a new school, a new home can be a daunting challenge to us. Many take comfort in the security of 'much of the same' from day to day. It is not until our lives are shaken by the unexpected that we quickly realise that the faith we profess must be put into action.

Change is always difficult, partly because we find a comfort and defence in what we are used to. In other words we know how to cope in the environment that is our norm.

However, when we are faced with the challenge of a change of direction all sorts of fears and horrors seem to come our way. If we cannot actually see the giants, then we will make them up!

Many, having followed the Lord's command to go forward into some new field of service find that no sooner have they taken that step of faith and cut asunder all ties with the past than they are assaulted from all directions by the evil one.

If we live an inactive spiritual life then Satan need not bother troubling us as our life poses him no threat whatsoever. When however we stand to the challenge and face the enemy head on then be assured that difficulties will be strewn across our path.

The last thing Satan wants is yet another 'Christ like' warrior heading towards the battlefield.

He will do all in his power to make us think that we have made the wrong decision. He will try his very best to persuade us to turn back and to enjoy the pleasures we once enjoyed in Egypt. The tasty morsels seem ever so sweet when we have parted company from them!

Let us not fear though giants may appear on our horizon. Many of them are our own making. Shall our Commanding Officer lead us forth into battle on our own? It cannot be. No, such is His love for us that not only will He lead us, He will guide us and protect us at all times. We have nothing, absolutely nothing to fear.

Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect?

The Christian lives for the day of his death. The final parting, when contemplated seems horrendous, but it is our final enemy.

Already this week, two of my friends have been called Home. Their warfare is accomplished, while we still have work that needs doing. The next time we meet, we shall be facing the King in all His glory, time without end.

No more will assaults come our way. No more will sin deprive us of fellowship with the One whom our souls delight in. No more will we sit in darkness, cowering in fear. Never again will we let our Best Friend down and never again will we regret days lost in worldly pursuits.

How long will this blessedness last? There shall be no end.

Immanuel's Land beckons for each one of us. In the meantime let us be spent for the One who was spent for us outside the walls of Jerusalem. Let us go forward today in the full persuasion that 'the Lord is with us!'

I honestly cannot think of more comforting words than these today:- 'The Lord is with us.' Perhaps our day started without this comforting realisation, but now the Word has brought comfort and strength to our needy souls. Arise, strengthen the weak hands and confirm the feeble knees.

The Lord is with us.

LOL

Your brother in Christ

Goedemorgan allemaal.
Now if I practice this today about 10 times, maybe I can spell it right.

Ria, we do have autumn and spring.  Our autumn time is beautiful and the leaves are magnificant!  I will try to take pictures and post.  Right now we have not had our first 'freeze' which will start the leaves turning.

Now, for all of you who do not understand grits..it is nothing but ground corn.  You can buy either white  (which seems to be the most popular) or yellow.  If you buy them coarsely ground and cook them 1 hr...oooooh they are good.  1 Cup grits to 4 Cups water, with 1 tsp salt.   Stir them often.   Add butter & cheese when you serve, or mix them with your scrambled eggs and bacon.    When you take the corn to the mill to be ground..you get grits and then if ground a little more you get cornmeal from which good cornbread/muffins  or even hoecakes are made.

A wonderful thought......the LORD is with us!

Bye for now.

Hi everyone from a sunny but crisp Georgia.  It is truly a glorous day.  I am not going to go to water aerobics this morning as my blood pressure is low and as a result and feeling pretty tired.  This afternoon I have to go and coach for the last time this session for the computer files management class.  This evening there is a special Healing Service at our church I want to attend and then have choir practice so that will be plenty to do for one day.

We have not yet turned on our furnace but it may be today as the house is pretty cool.  We often will have some cool days and then back to warm for awhile in the month of October.

Pat and Iain, two good devotionals this morning.  Thanks for all the work you do to keep us supplied with daily devotional materials.

Ria, Jenny and Iain, sorry to hear that you soon will be facing winter.  One of the things I like about living in Georgia, which is in the Southern part of the United States, is that we have mild winters usually but still have the four seasons.

Jeanne, glad you discovered the problem with your stew before you served it.  I always think stews are better after they rest for awhile.

Nita, way to go on your photo.

Goedemorgen Ria.  Yes we have bicycles here, but the problem for most of us is that the stores are so far away that we would need to be a long distance byker to make the treck.  Our nearest store is about 15 km away and there are a lot of hills to navigate.  Mind you we would be a lot healthier if we did byke it.  I had an aunt in England who used to walk to the 'shops' eachmorning to pick up the days food supplies.  That was quite a distance.  Mother and I would take the bus when we went into town.

We have the heat going at last.  I wanted to hold off till the end of September.  I made it with a few blasts of heat from the wood furnace.  We have a problem this year.  The tractor has dropped a valve.  As a result we have no way to get our winter supply of wood in.  Our neighbour down, the road, has said he will help, it would be good if he did, but with the alcohol consumption, it is if-fy.  We shall see,   It needs to be in by the end of the month.

We still haven't had our first frost.  it felt like it last night, but no.  the trees are beginning to turn, most years the leaves are gone by now.  A late season this year.

I have had a song going through my head all night, Each time I woke up it was as if angels were singing it to me.

Learning to lean,
learning to lean,
Learning to lean on Jesus,
Having more power than I 've ever seen,
I'm learning to lean on Jesus.

God bless all
JudyB

Marilyn ~ Thank you, I made the signature myself!

Pat ~ Yes, I surprised myself that I could make the signature.

Grits are great at Cracker Barrell!!!!  That is about the only place around here that has them always!!!  I like them with just salt and pepper...will try the butter with that next time.  With milk and sugar, that sounds like cereal.

JudyB ~ Do you want your chili as a main dish?  I have a recipe that makes a Dutch Oven full.  Sounds really hot but really isn't that hot.  What I like best is it is open jars and cans, cook hamburger, heat and eat.

Ruth Ann ~ I am amazed how much electronics has advance in the past few years.  Who would think that nearly everyone...not me, yet...would have a cell phone and now you can take pictures, send emails, etc. with them.  I used to work for Electra Corporation and we were the first to have cordless telephones.  Cost $400.  Range...maybe 700 feet from the base.  Weight...4lbs.  That was just 20 years ago.

Jeanne ~ Uh, duh!  I can relate to your story!  Maybe not with cooking but with something!!

Karma ~ I love it when you laugh cyber-style!!!   ;D ;D ;D

Sarah ~ Great story.  Out of the mouth of babes!  How are you doing lately?  Seems you are more positive....which is super!!!  Keep looking up and all will be fine.

Janet ~ I don't believe I could cope with having rentals to clean up after.  What in the world did they do to have that repair cost?

Elizabeth ~ I think you mean 'Chicken Fried Steak'.  When we fry chicken, we flour it and fry it in shortening or grease.  Chicken Fried Steak is a steak...most of the time cube steak, meaning pounded with a cleaver...that is floured and fried in shortening or grease.  Sometimes it is served with gravy on top and is really good and tasty.

Karma ~ Thanks for telling us about our 'Silent Sister'.  Rushing now to check it out!!!

Pat ~ Thank you for the great devotion.  I will have to send that to my DIL since she has twins.

Mieka ~ Jesus loves everyone.  But we who have Jesus in our hearts are never alone.  We have to welcome him into our hearts.

Iain ~ I may be the unusual one but I like change.  I am one to realize that nothing stays the same so I might as well hit it straight on and enjoy it.  But I am also one that rushes into change and that sometimes doesn't work.  So I have learned to ask God to give me the answers and when he speaks posititve, then I go for it.

Ria ~ Yes, I made the signature with Paint Shop Pro Animation.  It was fun but tiring.

Kathy ~ I prefer the Instant Grits.  Creamier!!

Larry ~ Watch that LOW blood pressure.  I am sure you know that is just as dangerous.  I have my furnace on but lower than I set it in the winter.  I have solar heat also so it is nice and warm in here now.  Jerry wouldn't think so, but I do.   ::)

This will be a do-nothing-planned day.  So I have no idea what I will get into.

Good Morning everyone. Pat and Iain thank you for your devotionals this morning.

Iain I am sorry to hear that you lost two of your friends. But like you said the Lord has called them home, It is always the ones left here on earth that are sad when they should be happy.

I totally agree with you (I will prarphrase here) that if we are lazy christians who do nothing but sit in church and warm the pew that satan has nothing to bother us about. Why should he? We aren't doing anything for the Lord for him to try to stop.

Hello to Jenny and Ria If is foggy here in Northern California. When the sun does come out it is beautiful.

My prayer partner, Inez, (you all remember her) called me last night. She has just returned from Louisana. She now lives in Oklahoma, she moved the week after I did. She filled me in on some of the news from Lucerne Valley. Two of my church family there has lost their mother.

This has to be short!  We are tearing up the carpet and tack strips in the area we are going to tile, and boy!  is it ever a job!  Those concrete nails will not let go--keep taking little chunks of the floor up with them.

Anyway, all is well here is SW Kansas, and I am going to be very busy for a while--at least until we run out of steam and have to stop for a little break!

Talk to you later!

Edit:  Darrel has gone to the back garage for plumbline and tools, so I will answer the questions about all the damage to the house.  They tore big holes in really good carpet in the upstairs (24 ft. square room); and also in a smaller bedroom (those carpets alone will be much more than their deposit!)  They kicked holes in five interior doors, cost to replace and finish each door: $63.95.  We called the lumber yard for prices, didn't just make up the figures!  Some doors, the locksets were missing; the formica in the kitchen was broken; broken windows; 29 ceiling tiles ruined; holes knocked in the sheetrock, which means repair and then repaint the whole room; ran into the garage door and ruined a panel (18 ft. wide.) and the list goes on and on.  We didn't even write all of it down.  Now do you blame us for not returning their security deposit?

We do not bother the people while they are there, so had no idea how much they were doing to the place.  We belive in "live and let live."  Bah!  I don't like being a landlord! :-\ >:(

Pat & Iain I always enjoy your words of inspiration and today is no exception.

Etta Sue: I to would like your recipe for the chili, a private e-mail would do fine, or have you posted in the recipe section?

Kathy: It was just this morning on my home from work that I was thinking of grits, thanks for your full explanation as I was not aware of them being corn, our family loves corn on the cob so there should not be any reason why we would not enjoy grits.

I have just finished making chili sauce and now must have a bit to eat before leaving for work.

Gene had an appointment this morning at the opthalmologist, suspecting the cataract in his left eye had progressed enough for removal - he was right.  Our regular doctor has given up the surgery himself so we're waiting to hear from another whom he recommends.  Hoping the "substitute" does as good a job as was done on the right eye.

Just after we got home I had a call from the town office asking me to work all day Friday, to which I agreed of course.  Then just a few minutes ago another call asking if we could pick up a box at the food pantry for a man who lives here in our trailer park.  We'll get that when the pantry is open tomorrow afternoon and Gene is available.  He feels (and I agree) it's better that I don't deliver by myself to a man who lives alone.

Chilly and damp here today and when we came in the house, after being in the heated car, it felt really chilly.  So, since I did manage to get the windows and curtains taken care of yesterday, we poked up the heat.  Feels nice now.  ;D

Many of you use the Christian Photographers Instant Message feature that you can access up at the top right of every page.

It might be a good idea to go to your OUTBOX and your INBOX and delete old messages.  If you let them build up so that there are many, many messages, you won't be able to access your boxes.[/b]

Well, more and more I've come to realize just how sweet it is to trust in Jesus.

So, this is what I've been humming today.

'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/tissoswe.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Louisa M. R. Stead, 19th Century
Musician:  William J. Kirkpatrick, 1838-1921

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, "Thus says the Lord!"

Refrain

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Refrain

Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

Refrain

I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

Hi everyone

Congratulations Nita.

Jeanne, how was your dinner this evening?  Flavourful I trust?  hehehe

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr  I just heard the weather forecast on the radio and I really hope that the weatherman was just kidding with us.  He called for snow over the weekend!

Thank you for the devotionals Pat and Iain and also for the music Pat.  It was very relaxing after dinner tonight to sit and read the posts and devotionals and listen to the music while doing so.

I will say Hi too Pat!

Sue I hadn't heard that weather forcast.  I will have to check out the weather network tonight.  If there is snow in Winnipeg we can expect it here in the north in 24 hours.  Well better bundle up warm!

Good afternoon everyone.  Please don't think me to be ungrateful.  I truly appreciated the warm greetings from you lovely folks. I sat down last night and typed (Hunt and peck system) a long list in answering every one of you.  Grown men aren't supposed to cry over spilt milk, so I didn't.  I had no idea that you had a closed door in the evening.  Sooooooo, I'm learning.

Jenny.  YES dear lady, I do remember you, and am pleasd you are in this forum.

Mercychild and Etta Sue.  Good grief, I've been on TV and film, but this is the first time I've ever been on a Marquee.  :-)  Thank you.

Marilyn.  Hi there my good friend.  You may recall that you had informed me of this forum some time ago and I replied that I wasn't sure I was worthy to be there (here).   The trip up to Jasper, Canada was fantastic, but we did in fact pass many miles of burned-out forrest.  What a pity.  You asked me to tell about myself so folks would perhaps get to know me.  How about in my next post?  I'll make it short.  :-)

If I forget anyone, please forgive me because it won't be intentional.

Al.  Yes my friend, "Refreshed" is just the word.  I told Pat that any forum you and Pat were conducting would be safe.  I'm very pleased to be here, and especially because I'll be able to read the loving thoughts of people who truly love our Lord.

Mieka. I promise NOT to write in Chinese.  If I did, it would be all Greek to you.  Thanks for the welcome.

Joyce.  I couldn't be happier when Pat told me that you were in this forum.  I've had the pleasure of knowing you for a few years now, and I can attest that if there was ever a woman with the gift of love, mercy, compassion, and kindness, and being a gentle loving soul, you get the blue ribbon.  I say this because of our many, many years of writing about our Lord Jesus Christ.  From the posts I've already read from the others in this forum, You've got some competition.

Jeanne Lee.  Thank you for taking the time to make that lovely card of welcome for me.  I'm glad to be here too. :-)  Obviously I don't know how to transfer smiling faces.

Janet and JudyB.  Thank you for your lovely welcome, and it's truly nice to be here.

Well, my day has been sitting in front of this computer.  That is until Ivalou called and wanted me to go out to eat with her.  Tonight we just went to Lapel to new/old diner.  New diner in a very old building.

I am updating some files so I had better go before it shuts me down.  I guess it could.  Something is weird going on.  I just got a window saying I needed to reboot!!!

Everyone have a great night's rest!!!!  You, too, Pat!!!!

Jenny.  Actually, my golf game is much like most all other golfers......It's now time to laugh.  My game is much like a yo yo with it's ups and downs.  I played again today and my partner was truly a wondeful guy.  He isn't a Christian, but he knows am.  He gave me some great advice in straightening out my slice, and I was able to bang-out some pretty good drives.  My short game has (most of the time) been pretty good.  I can guarantee you that I do NOT curse, throw, or bang my clubs.  My goodness, I can't remember my last score, so why worry about this one.  There are three men on the course who will not play with me.  They hate it when I speak of the Bible.

Marilyn.  Hi there friend.  I agree with you. If we are comfortable and cozy in our pews in church, the pastor couldn't possibly be doing his job.  We should be squirming a bit, and feeling somewhat uncomfortable.  After all, isn't he telling us about our Perfect Lord, and how we should live and relate to others?  We sinners have a commission to accomplish and that Godly assignment will last until our last breath.  I never feel as though I'm walking Christlike.  I always feel that I'm a bit out of step and am trying to hear Him over the shouts of our unbelieving world.

Many of you know our friend Dawn Tucek on SeniorNet, well, she's feeling pretty sick right now and I'd really appreciate you all praying for her.  I've posted over in our "Have You Prayed About It?" HERE (http://christianphotographers.com/yabbse/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=1387).  Hope to see you there.  I've invited Dawn to join us here and I hope that she will when she's feeling better.

Now, let's continue to pray for Papa John.

Hey, Lee!  Do you remember me from Senior net, too?  I was just wondering.  It is so good to see you here, and what a handsome man you are!  :)  All God's kids are good looking, right?

I am so tired I can barely move, but we made good progress on that tile.  I wish I could say it's finished, but NOT!  Getting started is the hard part sometimes, though.

Prayers comtinue for dear Papa John and family.

Hi Pat! ;D

Lee, I was expecially struck by one phrase you used - you said you were sure this site would be "safe".  That's exactly how I feel about it and I'm sure you'll find it that way.  I got "gun-shy" at the "religion" sites on Senior Net and just stopped visiting them altogether rather than take a chance on losing my peace and joy.   No worry here, though!  :D

Praise God for that!  Isn't is a good feeling, though?

I, too, feel very "safe" here.  I'm glad others do as well.

I am physically exhausted, so I am going ot bed early tonight.

Take care and "see" you in the morning, Lord willing.

Good evening all.  Interesting posts and still talking about food!  Thanks for the info about 'Chicken Fried Steaks', Etta Sue.  It sounds goood!

Agree about the 'religious ' sites on SR. Net.  Actually, find most of it quite sad...

Spent the day painting a door and the floor of my balcony.  The floor gets a lot of rain in the winter and so use Deck Kote.  Want to put the Condo on the market after the holidays, so need to have things in good condition.

Love the photo section and am more determined than ever to get a digital camera.  Still have not been to get the scanner from the kids.  Think the camera will be easier as it plugs into the computer. ??

Will continue to pray for Papa John and trust God to take good care of them both.  How wonderful that God's help is only a prayer away.

God Bless, Liz.

Liz, if you have some nice photos of your area where you live taken with just a regular camera, just pop them into an envelope and mail them to me and I'd be happy to scan them for you and then mail your photos back.  I do it all the time for people on SN and on here as well.
