Morning Devotional...

But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw His glory, and the two men that stood with Him.
Luke 9:32

I often find myself reading Scripture and at the end of the chapter I can hardly remember what I have read.

My mind has wandered and I have failed to concentrate. One needs to be alert and attentive in the things of God.

I therefore have to start all over again, and with a bit more effort, begin to see the jewels shine, and the Saviour's beauties become obvious.

If truth does not sink in the first time, don't despair; wake up and try again.
--Brian Russell

Hi everyone.  It looks like I am going to be the first to post in the AM for today.  Just back from coffee.  Our son was going to come over and put in the screendoor on our front entrance but called me a little while ago and said he had been up most of the night and still wasn't feeling good.  So we will tackle the project sometime next week.

My good friend, who is a Virginia Tech graduate, is coming over at noon to watch the football game with me as he did last week.  We enjoyed the afternoon and am sure we will today as well.

I have to get the rest of the grocery shopping done this morning.  My wife had made two lists and I did the big one yesterday but will go to Aldi's for several items this morning.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.  That one really hits home as sometimes I find my mind has wondered and I have to go back and reread.

Jane, glad you got your car back.  While the bill was high it is better than having to get another car.

Guess I had better get my errands started for this morning.

Pat I too can relate to the devotional, sometimes it seems that what I am reading just doesn't "sink in" and I have to go back and read it  over and over again.

I woke up with a headache. Happy was scratching off and on during the night, I don't think it is fleas but an allergic reaction to something. he has a little rash on his belly and his side. A trip to the vet is in store.   :-\

It is raining here this morning and I didn't even know it until I opened the door to let the dogs out.  In that old trailer I could hear every drop  of rain. It is so nice and I am so blessed to be in a house again.  0:-)

I was to take Fay shopping today but now that it is raining I may just be going by myself.

Today is a Church work day so I will be going there after work. The BBQ I think has been changed and we will be cooking the burgers inside on the big commercial stove. I will be helping in the kitchen preparing the meal. anyway we are supposed to eat at 4 pm.

Larry sounds like you will be busy today shopping.

Have a great day Y-all.

Just in the door from purchasing the wood for my deck.  My friend's husband is going to start it next Saturday.  Yippeee!!!  Waited since 1985 to have a deck put on this house.  So finally it will be done.

Jen (Mercychild) is coming soon to pick up a piece of furniture I'm letting them have and then the Jack Scott Memorial Hike is at 1:30 so full day today.

Be back later.

I sounds as if we are to be a busy bunch of people today, me included!

The guy is supposed to be coming by to measure Beth's trailer for the linoleum, so I want to go see if he's here.  I will be back later!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT IS OCTOBER?

Karma ~ Great idea.  I even have a mini-crock pot that would work great for your corn chip dip.  Uh, I have vacancy here!

Marilyn ~ Don't blame you a bit for letting Gilbert put your cabinet together.  When my son offers I let him help me also.  Sometimes he forgets Mom is getting old though.

Sue ~ Thanks for the Dip for Apples recipe.  Sounds delicious.

Larry ~ I love this time of year when I can open doors and windows and let in the fresh air.  I know you will enjoy the screen at your front door...and your cat will, too!  It may be delayed but better late than never.

Pat ~ I sure can relate to today's devotion.  God knows I can.  Are you taking a before and after picture of your house and the new deck coming?  I really enjoy mine.

Jane ~ Come back.  Come back.  We miss your chatter!

Janet ~ Beth won't recognize her new home when she gets back.  She will be so pleased, appreciative and surprised.

Not much going on here today.  Resting up for a big day tomorrow at church which includes a baptism of one of our new people in our Small Group.  I have called a couple of ladies to remind them of our 60 Chix luncheon next Saturday.  Now it is time for lunch and relaxation!!

Lost my post.  Grrr. >:(  The guy told Darrel he had a lot more work to do on that floor before it is ready for the vinyl, so poor Darrel is slaving away again today.  :(  It just seems to go on and on..........I feel like sitting down and  :'( because I am so tired and discouraged; but of course I won't. ^-^  I will just keep plugging away, and some day we will get it finished.

Etta Sue, I know she will be surprised, and I HOPE she will be appreciative and happy, too. Since Darrel must start a big installation job on Monday, I have no idea how we will get it ready by Wednesday.  Pat will help me, but she and I cannot move the heavy furniture.  Maybe the guys can move it tomorrow, once the vinyl is down.  It is going to knock Darrel out of attending church tomorrow, and that is not a good thing, either. :(

The weather here is lovely today, you can feel that crisp snap in the air that tells you Fall is here!  It is Fall Fest in town, but I don't know that I will even have time to go see what's going on.  Oh, well.......

We are planning to go back to Hugoton this afternoon late to spend some time with our grandsons and the rest of their family.  We will watch the K-State game on TV and eat "football snacks."  Diane is overwhelmed with her Mum Festival at the store, so I am taking food to help her out.  That girl is really a trooper!

Jeff's grandma was almost a recluse the last few years she lived in Hugoton, not being able to drive, nor feeling like getting out much.  But when she moved into the care home in Dodge, she really came out of it!  They organized a chapter of the Red Hats Society, and she was the social director of that.  She really enjoyed their activities.  So they buried her in her Red Hat Regalia!  They had her red hat setting in the corner of her casket.  She had on a purple sweatshirt with a red hat on it, her red hat pin, and her purple and red scarf.  That made those who knew and loved her smile, remembering how happy her last year had been.

I must fix Darrel something to eat, poor guy is just exhausted.

See you later.

I was wondering why I could not find "Reply" at the bottom of the notes, I wasn't signed on.  We are at son's cabin in the mountains and have decided that we sure need to take advantage of this place more often.

Etta Sue:  Yes, it is really neat to have the special songs.  I usually pick the really old-fashioned ones that bring tears to my eyes.

Janet:  Whenever you start a remodel job it seems that something pops up to make the work that much longer.

Pat:  How was the walk?

Enjoying the creations of nature.

Good to see the new icons here  A big THANK YOU to all of you for your efforts on this site. <3
Have been at the hospital for the last 2 days...DIL, only 44, had a heart cath.  The first day they found it was too hard to fix without having access to surgeon and operating room..so was scheduled for the next day.  It took about 2 hrs the next day but the doc did get the 2 stents in without having to resort to surgery.  We were the biggest family there and with 2 pastors, too.  A lot of praise & thanksgiving to our Lord was given.  What wonderful new things have taken place in the medical field.

I took it quite easy today and enjoyed every minute ;) I even watched a movie, The Notebook, and did I ever cry through it.  Nicholas Sparks does write well and even the movies version was good.

God's blessings to all.

PS...don't work too hard, Janet & Darrel.  I hope you take pics of the finished project.

Gilbert called this morning before I went to work as told me the kids could spend the night here. They brought them over after Forest's Soccer game, then I took them to a Birthday party in Blue Lake. After that we went over to the church, g-kids helped with the dusting and did an excellent job of it. We had burgers there and now we are back at home.

It has been quiet here on CP today hasn't  it?

Not much else to say for now I'll be back later.

Since there are so few posts, I'm just adding Oct. 2 to the NEM.  I just got home a little while ago and am going to have a hot bath and maybe go to bed.

I tumbled down a hill today and feel the need to soak in a hot tub.

Talk to you all tomorrow.

Oh, Pat, I'm sorry you fell.

Yes, I did get some rest last evening. And, I worked 7.5 hours today to get ready for the big business meeting next week. Now, all I need to do is to finish up packing my suitcase, make certain the meds are all OK, and then rest and enjoy Sunday as my sabbath.

It's so good to hear from so many different friends here at CP lately. We love you and hope you'll stay with us, now that you're back.

Y'all have a good evening.

I'm off to my bedroom.

Love to all.

Thanks for the morning devotional Pat, although its past our morning worship and almost mid-afternoon here .
My son and his new wife have just returned from their honeymoon in New York. They had a time that they will never forget. The kindness of the New York folk was only matched by the welcome and treatment our youngest boy received while working in his gap year as an aupair in the States.
America , you have much to be proud of. Thank you for the example you set in hospitality for the stranger within. God bless you indeed.

Hi everyone.  Just finished eating a breakfast of scrambled eggs and sausage that Pat fixed for me.  I usually just have a banana for breakfast so this was a treat.  After church today the leaders of Calvin Cove have invited the volunteers to a "thank you" luncheon.  Pat and I are looking forward to it.  Don't have anything else on the schedule for today.

My friend came over and we watch the Virginia Tech game yesterday afternoon as we had the week before.  It makes watching the game a lot more enjoyable to share it with a good friend.  VT won the game and that was nice as West Virginia has been their big rival.

Janet, you and Darrell (and your friend) have certainly put forth supreme effort in getting Beth's home in good shape for her.  It sounds like she will be in for a big surprise when she gets home and finds everything all spic and span.

John, I didn't realize the any of the au pairs were young men.  Glad you children had such a good experience in the USA.

Ruth Ann, glad to see that you are ready for your business trip.  I hope you have a great time and it will be a change of pace.  We will be thinking about you during the week and praying that you get along just fine.

Pat, sorry to hear of your tumble.  It takes awhile for us to get over that at our ages.  Your new deck sounds great and I am sure you will enjoy having it.  What size is it going to be?

Marilyn, glad you are able to have your grandchildren spend the night and to participate with you at your church.  I am sure it is very enjoyable for them as well as you.

Kathy, glad the stenting procedure was finally successful.  I am well acquainted with cath labs as have been into them 30 times now.  Of course, I have no memory of my last experience a few days ago after the first few minutes because of the drugs they gave me I either wasn't awake or my memory of the experience was wiped out.  Hope the stent does the job for her.

Carol, it sounds like you are having a great time at the cabin.  I am sure your son is probably to have someone there as to have it sit idle so many days.

Etta Sue, hope you have a wonderful day at church today.  It sounds like you are a good organizer for your groups.  That is an important job.  We had to turn the AC back on last evening as it was up to 80 and the humidity was high.

Well, we will soon be leaving for church.  Hope this is a great day for you all.

Today is bright and sunny.  The weather is perfect.  Enjoy before it gets cold and the winter sets in.

Hi Pat, sorry I didn't get to Guelph yesterday for the Jack Scott Memorial Hike.   Hope it was a successful hike.

Got to get ready for church.   God Bless

Hi Everyone...

Had a miserable night so haven't gone out today.  Just aching joints and leg cramps so terrible.  I had to keep getting up and standing to get rid of the cramps.

Yes, Ruthie, you were missed.  It was lovely.  Perfect temperature too.

Oh, my, Pat!  A tumble is not a good thing for a girl your age!   :'(  Take care, rest, and get over it quickly, please.

We had a nice visit with the kids last night, and Curtis is coming up to spend this afternoon with us, so that makes me happy.

Kathy, so glad your daughter-in-law is doing well after the stent placements.  That's not a fun thing, for sure.  And she is so young, too!

Marilyn, I know you enjoy having the grands around for a while.  That's the reason you moved there, right?  ;)

Ruth Ann, blessings on you as you make your trip.  We commend you into His loving care.

Hi there, Ruthie!  Good to have you back with us!  :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NITA!  WE LOVE YOU!!!

Larry, I hope Beth will make some attempt to keep her place up better.  I am going to insist that she hire someone to clean for her at least every two weeks.  I am NEVER going to do a job like this again.  :P  The guys are out there laying the vinyl as I type this; so we should be able to shift furniture around by late afternoon.  Curtis can help us with that!  8)

John, thank you for those kind words about America and Americans; that is refreshing to hear!  :)

Carol, glad you are enjoying your time at the cabin.  Wish I were someplace similar!

Larry, it is nice you can enjoy the games with your friend.  The Nebraska Huskers won in a double overtime yesterday (Go, Huskers!!)but poor K-State got slaughtered by the Oklahoma Sooners.  :'(

I am going to see what's for dinner!

Pat are you getting enough Magnesium with your calcium> That helps to keep the leg and foot cramps away.

I got so many compliments re: my Grand children for all the help they were at the church yesterday. I am so proud of them. NJot if I can only get Gilbert and Sarah to let me take them to church.

We had another wonderful message this morning, the Pastor is preaching a series on the book of Acts.

Janet I know you will be so gald to get the work done in Beth's trailer. I have been tossing, tossing, tossing stuf  to go to St. Vincent DePaul. Everything from clothing to dishes, to knick knacks it is all going.

Al Called last night and said they will come by for a visit sometime soon after I am home from work.

When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder    (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/whenroll.mid)
(Click to hear music)

When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain

When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll is called up yonder I'll be there.

On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain

Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care;
Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain

Thanks for all the birthday cards and greetings.   ::)

Kim and Angel took me out for lunch.  We went to a Mexican resturant and I had a tostado with rice and beans.  It was waaaaay too much, and I'm stuffed.

Skeet had left money for a perm for me, with Kim, so next week........Yipee .....i get curley hair.

Now I'm ready for an afternoon nap.

While we were out, we were noticing all the pretty fall colored trees.  Autumn Colours is our October Challenge, so maybe I can get back down and get some pictures later.....or tomorrow.  Well, before October is over. lol

Pat, I'm so sorry you slipped.  Aching isn't good.  Hope you heal lickity split.

We had rain last night but lots of sunshine at the moment.  I slept little last night, so even the sunshine can't keep me from yawning.  It's on to the recliner now.

later, and blessings....nita

Whew!  Tired again........ ???  But by tomorrow night I think I will be able to see light at the end of the tunnel.  They vinyl is down, and Darrel and Curtis got Beth's bed moved, and most of her living room stuff out of the kitchen.  Curt also got all her computer stuff untangled and hooked up again; I know that's one of the first things she will be wanting.

I will be going to a Ladies' Retreat Thurs-Sat, so wish I didn't have to work on Beth's place, but just have to get it done.  The guys have to re-set the toilet, and connect the shower drain, too.  I guess it will all get done in due time, but we only have two more days!  And they are going to work on another job tomorrow! :-\  Well, I don't want to worry about it.............  (Yeah, right!  ^-^ )

I missed the song service tonight, but the sermon was really good.  It was on forgiveness, a different and very good perspective.

Curt brought his laundry, so I got all of that done up for him.  Like most college students, he doesn't like to go to a laundromat and spend his money doing laundry!  And I so appreciate his help, and just getting to spend some time with him.  Anyway, I was cutting it close getting it finished, as he wanted to leave by 6:30, and that is also church time.  He left at the same time I did, so we were both just a little bit late.

Did anyone else happen to hear Jentezen Franklin's sermon this morning on "Lessons From the Storm"?  It was great---all about Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans, etc.  I think I might order his CD of it.

Bedtime again!  Like the old song said " the hands on the clock keep goin' around; you just get up and it's time to lay down........"   ;)

See you tomorrow.

Pat: Due take care of those sore muscles. Also try not to stumble too many times because at our young age it can be bad news.

Kathy: It was just this past week that I rented the move Notebook, I did not shed any tears but it was so beautiful.

Nita:  Happy Birthday.

Janet: Do your best to get lots of rest.

Again it has been a wonderful fall day.  My son and DIL dropped by for a few minutes and she has a virus - sinus situation so she was not feeling well at all.

My God Bless you all

Pat I am too sorry about the tumble.  It is so easy to break something, we can thank God for His protection.  Did you taake any pictures? I am looking forward to seeing them.

Ruth that sinus virus is wicked.  I have had it along with the girls.  You need to stay away from it.  I am glad you had a visit with DG and wife.

We have made our thanksgiving plans only to have them possibly changing.  Bonnie and all are coming for turkey, Iwas pinned down to a day and said Saturday, only to have john say that he may not be home till late Saturday.  It is so frustrating to not be able to count on his off days each week.  Sorry for the whining I really am thankful that he has a job.  There are so many that are out of work.

Pastor Jeff spoke today.  He is getting better every time he speaks.  There were 7 children who acted out the story of Esther.  My they were cute, snd presented the message well.  If this is an example of what the future looks like we will be doing real well.

Pat can we sing "Count Your Blessings" sometime soon?

Bue for now

Just returned from a weekend of camping at our church campground in Somerset Center, Michigan.  Cooking over a campfire, eating and visiting around the same...

We did not rough it.  There are two lodges there and we stayed in one of them, since we don't own any camping gear.  Our children are the real campers.

Saturday was a warm day.  I sat out on the deck in a chair and looked over the gift the God has given us...the campground and the beautiful lake front lodge.

I marveled at what He can do and I marveled at the sites before me and thanked Himn for all of the blesssings that I receive daily...sometimes not recognizing them.
