October 11 - Prepare for Persecution
"Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution."
(2 Timothy 3:12)
Did you catch that? He said all who live godly lives are going to suffer persecution. Not just the super-saints, not just the missionaries in hostile lands--but ALL.
If you're going to live for God, you're going to run into persecution somewhere along the line. The devil's going to make sure of it!
Now I'm not saying that to frighten you or to depress you. I'm saying it because I want you to be prepared.
When you're wise to the strategies of the devil, it's harder for him to use them successfully on you to confuse you and get you off track.
Second Corinthians 10:4 says, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds." So stay armed and ready for Satan's attack. Then, whenever and however it comes, it won't bring your life to a halt or even slow you down.
That's especially important right now because we're living in the last days. The devil's time is drawing short. He is desperate. He is going to do everything he can to stop the Church. But Jesus said the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church!
Remember the more we grow to be like Jesus and the more God's glory is revealed through our lives, the bigger threat we are to Satan's kingdom. Jesus said, "Rejoice and be glad at such a time, and exult and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is rich and great and strong and intense and abundant in heaven" (Luke 6:23, The Amplified Bible).
So, when persecution comes your way, and you know it will, rejoice and be glad. Take the Jesus cure and begin to leap and jump and praise God! There is no way persecution will hurt you if you do that. I've tried it and it works.

I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,
I will come in.
Revelation 3:20
Words: Rufus H. McDaniel, 1914. McDaniel wrote these words after the death of his son.
Music: Charles H. Gabriel, 1914
 Â
What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought
Since Jesus came into my heart!
I have light in my soul for which long I had sought,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain
Since Jesus came into my heart,
Since Jesus came into my heart,
Floods of joy o?er my soul
Like the sea billows roll,
Since Jesus came into my heart.
I have ceased from my wandering and going astray,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And my sins, which were many, are all washed away,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain
I?m possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain
There?s a light in the valley of death now for me,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And the gates of the City beyond I can see,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain
I shall go there to dwell in that City, I know,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And I?m happy, so happy, as onward I go,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain

Good morning or evening folks! Hi Pat! Thanks Janet for the devotion.
I am heading to bed. Night folks!
Thanks Janet!
Talk to you in the morning. Â I'll be home early.
Night Soni!
You asked how I knew Bonz was over at a neighbors house...
Well, she called me. A little neighbor boy brought her the flyer I'd put out with Bonz's picture on it. She said she'd known that he belonged to someone, but she didn't want to go from door to door because she was afraid someone would claim him just because he is so pretty. Strangely enough she hadn't seen the flyer I'd posted on the mail house. Doesn't get the newspaper, and doesn't use the washaterias here on the apartment grounds because she has her own washer. She said she found him chasing another cat across the street, and almost got run over! He has no traffic sense about him, and he's neutered so I don't know why he's so aggressive.
But anyway, he's home!
Oh Pinkie!!!!! That is just the most glorious news. I know you are so happy to have him back and in health. Things are right again, eh?
Welcome home, Bonz.
hmmm....I meant to make the welcome home larger, but it's smaller. I'll have to figure that out. :)
Oh Pinkie: Thats such great news. How does he look? Any worse for wear? Gosh... don't you wish cats could talk, if only just to explain himself...lol
Did he just show up at your doorstep?
as you can see by the time, I'm unable to sleep, so rather than just toss and turn, I thought I'd drop in here hoping someone else was awake., but theres not a soul around.
We had a lovely dinner with friends tonight, and I over indulged...three desserts would you believe, so this is the price I'm paying....that and too much coffee.
Oh well, I haven't too much on for Tuesday, so perhaps I'll be able to catch a nap.
Hi Everyone!!!
PINKIE I am so glad your baby is home-My daughter Whitney lost her kitty about a month ago-she is only 8-i felt so helpless because she sat on my lap and sobbed so hard..Kali was only 3 years old-but a beautiful kitty- I am so glad that yours is home safely.
We have had a busy day but, I wanted to drop by to say hello ..Im going to go to bed too :)
Hugs
Rachelle
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KARMET
Pinkie, I am so glad you have Bonz again. :)
Janet, thanks for the morning devotion. It is true that we need daily to put on the armor of God to withstand the wiles of Satan.
Visited my friend last night who will be 86 this week. She is moving to a retirement home, The Methodist Manor, and this is a big step for her. Her name is Sammy Boyette and she was our church pianist for many years only quitting when her eyesight got too bad. This is a step she knows she needs to make...but is hard for her.
I'm still reading my South Beach Diet book. Hope to be through and starting the diet next week.
I'll post in the losing weight section.
The temp is about 55 this AM and we are getting our fall weather. The leaves are beginning to turn on the dogwoods and persimmon trees. No frost yet for the others.
I know in the mountains they must be gorgeous.
A blessed day to all.......kathy
Good morning,
Great news about finding your cat, Pinkie. Also, I like your new picture.
Karmat, I hope this birthday is a wonderful one, and hope you're feeling fine. What a great year for y'all, with this new little one due before long.
Janet, thanks for the devotional today. I've certainly enjoyed the devotionals every day, but rarly say thanks to each of you who are so diligent to prepare them.
Must go - have another dental session today, so need to get to work a bit early if possible.
Y'all have a good day.
Ruth Ann
Drat and double drat.....Thanks Ruth Ann...lost my post..crashed with you... ;). Anyway hope all goes well at the dentist sister.
Good afternoon from Brum. A damp, dark one.
Just been down the hill to Carol's house and it sure was cold. I stopped to talk to a young man who was filling a skip with some garden rubbish, not really the best weather to stop still. Gosh I am getting old...talking to young men and no embarrassment. I seem to do that a lot lately! Of course I bring Jesus into the conversation each time. The young man's name is Darryl...aren't I cheeky? Well KI wanted to put him onto the prayer list.
Carol has a sad afternoon ahead. Her little cat Ann is to be despatched to Rainbow Bridge today. The vet is coming out to do this for her. Same man who came to my Sunday dog...
Janet, thanks for the good devotional, especially thank-you for the hymn. I used to sing this as a very small child in Sunday School.
Judy Mc I am glad you enjoyed the food last night but sorry you have to pay for it now. I have a bottle of Mix Mag Tri in my cupboard ;)...shall I send some over? ;D
Pinkie. Thank-God. I am so happy for you have your little darling home.
Kathy. Don't overdo the diet. Keep some meat on your bones for the winter.
Rachelle and Nita..Hello both.
Happy Birthday to Karma
God bless Everyone who pops in today.
Luv U all.
Jenny.
Have now no fear of the darkness that enfolds thee.
God's wings are spread as an eagle's over her nest                     Â
Thanks one and all for your well wishes for Bonz's return! He is fine. The lady who'd had him took good care of him...even bought him a flea collar, litter box, and cat food. But he still prefers the food I used to feed him when he has the choice! ;D
[/b]
Good morning. Not much new here this morning, it's cold but expected to be in the high 70's this afternoon. My PT appointment was cancelled yesterday so I am going today. One of the therapists had hip surgery and is only working half days. Wouldn't you know it is mornings and I can't go mornings.
TTYL
Well, I'm home. It was a lovely drive home from Janice's in the early morning. It was quite misty and it was beautiful before the sun burned off the mist and fog.
I have a visit to the doctor's and then some other errands so I better get busy.
Talk to you all later!
The forum software was upgraded this morning by our resident expert, Michael (Oldiesmann) and you can read about it HERE (http://christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=3238.new#new)
Hmmm... It looks like they didn't pay any attention to me when I told them how to fix the glow tag :P
/me goes to dig up the fix and fix this board
Ok. Glow tag is fixed... again... :)
Thank you, Oldiesman, for all you do for us to keep this forum running smoothly. We owe both you and Pat our gratitude---and you have it! ;D
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR KARMA! AND MANY MORE!!!
I have to get packed, take Beth to the grocery store, finish my laundry, vacuum the floors, and I hope to have time to work a bit on some framing I want to get done. I could just pick up what Beth needs, but I think it's important for her to get out of the house once in a while, and the sun is shining today, so a good day for it. My sister has offered to take care of anything Beth might need while we are away this time; it's only for 5 days.
Anyway, good to see you all, and I shall return later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KARMA!!!!
I was so happy to read that Bonz is back home. Â Aren't you fortunate that a loving family took him in?
Did anyone notice the strange extra characters in yesterday's NEM? Â Maybe that happened when the site was being upgraded!
It was an expensive trip for Ivalou yesterday. Â Weekend before last she drove to her daughter's in Kettering, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton. Â Her daughter then drove Ivalou's car to Youngstown, Ohio, to a high school band competition that Ivalou's g-daughter is in the color guard. Â Sometime before getting there, the coolant light came on. Â Ivalou got out the manual and they stopped to check the coolant and it was low. Â So she called back to Indiana to the dealership to see what to do. Â The service department wasn't open but the salesman that sold her the car answered and said to get some coolant and put it in. Â They did. Â The light went out and hasn't been on since. Â But the salesman also said to bring the car in when she got home. Â That was yesterday. Â First, there was too much coolant installed AND it was the wrong coolant. Â So they needed to flush out the radiator and put in more coolant/antifreeze. Â But they found a leak in the gasket. Â So it is being fixed to the tune of $711.00!!!!!!!! Â They couldn't do it yesterday before closing so someone brought us home. Â I will take her back to get her car when they call saying it is done!!! Â I guess $711 isn't that bad when you think of 5-6 hours of labor plus the anti-freeze.
And my GPS is fixed! Â I called Magellan and left a message as to what was wrong with my GPS. Â They told me to Clear the Memory and re-initialize and recalibrate the compass. Â I did and all is well. Â I am back in business now. Â I really enjoy the GPS. Â Gives me confidence when driving where I have never been before. Â Has saved me time and frustration many times!!!!
Cloudy today....52 degree F at 10:30 a.m. est. Â But it isn't forecasting rain! Â Leaves are falling. Â May have to mow them soon. Â I don't have a rake that fits my hands!!!! Â ::) ::)
<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))

It's working, it's just that the green is really hard to see. If you make it bigger though, you can tell that it is working fine. If you're not using Internet Explorer though it won't work (something Microsoft invented - doesn't work in Firefox).
That's my problem..I am using foxfire. Thanks!

Good morning from the sunny Oregon coast! Another beautiful day here.
Happy Birthday to Karma.
That's neat to know about Firefox not letting you see the extras. I was using that, and switched to IE to see Soni's sentence with the glow tag. So I guess I'll use IE for CP from now on.
I had a nice cup of coffee this morning. haha I haven't had one since last Thursday morning.
It was nice.......and my cold is almost gone. My head still feels like a watermelon, but that's ok. Some nice sunshine will help that maybe. I'll get out today. I need dog food for Amy and puppy wipes for the babies...plus food for myself. I've been housebound so long, I'm almost excited to get out and about.
Jenny, speaking to men on your outings! haha You are right......when we get older, we are free to loose some of the restrictions and fears and more and more we are not seeing male or female but only ones created in the image of God...and so needing Him. You are quite frisky, my dear. :) And you are quite bold.
Etta Sue, it is sooooo expensive to have anything done on a car. Don't you think so? It seemed that this year everything that could go wrong with my car did. Everytime I turned around I was putting more money into it. But then I started thinking.....all of the stuff was mostly done as maintanance and had never been done before. Others were things that needed to be fixed, but over all....I've not had to put much into my Corolla other than basics. It just seemed like it all happened at once. I was grateful that I trusted the mechanics and I felt safe to travel out of town again.
Pat, glad you made it home safely. You drive home sounds beautiful. I'm still promising myself that I'll drive inland and look at some fall colors, but havn't done it. There just isn't much here on the coast.
Janet. Hi. Beth is so blessed to have a mom like you. I know you feel blessed to have her too. God puts families together so wonderfully......don't you think?
Kathy, I'll see you over in the diet discussion. :)
Hi Rachelle, hi Beth, hi Marilyn. Did I miss anyone? Hello Oldiesman. Thank you for all you do for CP. Have a blessed day everyone.
QuoteEtta Sue:Â Â I was so happy to read that Bonz is back home. Â Aren't you fortunate that a loving family took him in?
Yes! He's lying here in front of my computer right now...making it difficult to type - and I'm stroking his silky coat!
Janet, thanks for the good devotional thoughts this morning.
Pinkie, I glad you got your kitty back. Many years ago we had a little dog named Dinky. She was three years old and a real sweetie. One day she disappeared and for three weeks she was gone. Then out of the blue one day she came to the door scratching and barking. We never knew where she was but somebody had been taking care of her.
Ruth Ann, I hope your dental appointment goes well today.
Jenny, in 1996 we spent September and October in England and as I remember it we had some cold weather before it was over. But back then I could walk much better than now and we wrapped up well and enjoyed walking on the public paths through the countryside.
Good to see everyone today. We have two more nights of the Marriage Seminar tonight and tomorrow night. Cornelia and I are enjoying it but it is hard to go out every night for four nights.
Gal 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (NIV)

Papa John..
Just calling in to see you ;)
It's so cold tonight and raining...again.
Come on over, I will take your arm and we will hobble down the hill together. I think we would have problems getting back up again. It's really steep. You could watch the traffic going by towards the airport ;D
God bless dear Papa John.
You are an inspiration.
Goodnight Everyone.Love,
Jenny.
Hi everyone and Happy Birthday Karma.
We have had a busy day. I went to my doctor's office and got a flu shot this morning and Pat went along and did some shopping while I was getting the shot. I was totally shocked that there was absolutely no line awaiting the flu shots. It took me maybe 5 minutes to fill out the paperwork and then get the shot.
We then stopped at Walmart for a few items and came home for a quick bite to eat before going to the church for Calvin Cove and for Pat to put togethr the children's packets for Sunday service. While I was having lunch I talked with the nurse where the biopsy will be done on Thursday afternoon. Then, after Calvin Cove, we had to drive back up to my doctor's office to pick up an antibiotic and a few pain pills as have to start the antibiotic tomorrow morning.
Originally I was told they only did these biopsies on Tuesday and would have to wait until next week but the nurse said after the talked to the doctor he didn't want me to be off the blood thinners any longer than necessary and so adjusted their schedule to work me in on Thursday. I appreciate that very much. I then have an appointment a week from Thursday to see the doctor and get the results from the biopsy.
Jenny, is it normal for it to be so cold so early in the fall? We are still using air conditioning. We had a little rain today so it has been quite humid but not too hot.
Papa John, are you and Cornelia teaching the marriage class? I agree with you that having to go out 4 nights in a row would be pretty tough. I usually only go out on Wednesday evenings to attend church and choir practice. I like to be home when it gets dark.
Pinkie, glad that you got your cat back and that he had been well taken care of by the folks who found him.
Nita, I find that I am using Firefox almost exclusively. This week I found a really neat extension that is called Foxy voice that will literally read outloud any page or any highlighted area on a webpage. There is also a nice calendar extension.
Pat, glad you had such a nice time with your daughter and the meal sounds great, especially those pies! ;D
Judy, those must have been pretty small servings for you to eat three desserts. That sounds like something I would do. Hope you were able to have a nap today and will sleep tonight.
Etta Sue, glad you got your GPS working again. I have never used one of those systems. I expect someday the Onstar or a GPS will be a standard feature in most cars.
Janet, glad you will be able to get away again. You folks really travel a lot. It is nice that Beth's aunt will be keeping an eye out for things while you are gone. Thanks for the fine devotional this morning. I certainly agree with you that it appears we are in the last days. Christianity and Christians are being attached throughout the world.
Thanks oldiesman for keeping things humming here. We appreciate your efforts.
Rachelle, certainly sorry to your little daughter lost her cat and do hope that it will soon return.
Hi to Kathy , Ruth Ann, Sonja and Marilyn.
See everyone online tomorrow.
Hi, friends,
I still have my lopsided smile. But, thanks be to God, they got me numb enough the first time, so I didn't have to endure any pain. When I was a child, all there was available was the very slow drills. Always I would leave the dental chair with much pain, and then develop a black eye and have very swollen cheeks with difficulty in swallowing. So, it's a real ordeal for me to have to sit in the chair for 2 and a half hours.
He switched to the slow drill and noticed I was beginning to have flashbacks, so he just stopped, let me catch my breath, then finished up with the fast drill again. He said that many patients my age and older have much the same reaction because of the things they went through with as a child.
Also, I'm heading on in to bed in a moment. I finally get to eat milk products today (the medications forced me not to for a whole month). So, I'm cooking macaroni and cheese. It will be soft and also nutritious for my lopsided mouth.
Y'all have a good evening.
Ruth Ann
I am sure that I posted a very interesting post earlier today and it was lost.......
Ruth Ann: Mac and cheese - a good comfort food.
Jenny: Grinning at your speaking to strange men.....
Carol
Etta Sue: I was reading your post to Norm about Iva Lou's car problem. He thought $711.00 was a fair price to charge you. Now...if that was OUR car trouble, and we had to have it repaired where YOU live, $711.00 would be awfully high for us to pay in U.S. funds!
Pinkie: How did you find the kitty? Did the person who had him, see one of your flyers? Glad he is in good shape, and not too thin.
Jenny: What is that mixture you spoke of in an earlier post?
Well, I'm really just popping in to wish Karma a very Happy Birthday, and I'm heading off to bed early tonight, ...hoping and PRAYING that I will be able to sleep! Sure is a long night when you can't sleep.
Oh Larry:... the 3 pieces of pie that I ate, wern't small.... (I should be embarrassed to admit that)
but I'm not.....they were all SO GOOD!!...LOL
Hope everyone has a good night.
Nitey-nite.... Judy M.
This is for everyone who has or has had computer trouble.
http://www.rio.com.br/animation/iconstory.htm
Thanks Ruth, I think everyone will enjoy it. It explains what happens to a good working computer>
Thanks, JUDYB ;D I know that story well!!
Cute Judy.
Nite all shutting down early tonight.
I'm getting ready to get off the computer too, Marilyn...so will say goodnight to everyone now.
Oh, Larry. I installed the foxy voice extension, and see the cute little face with the mouth moving, but can't get any actual voice. I hope I can get it to work.....just for fun.
Night everyone. God bless. Nita
What great posts today!
I'm closing up this topic a little early due to a silly headache and I'm off to bed.
