Morning Devotional...[/b]

Heb. 13:5, 6
[/color]

The Lord is my Helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?[/b]

MEMO FROM GOD
To: YOU
Date: TODAY
From: THE LORD
Subject: YOURSELF

I am God. Today I will be handling all of your problems. Please remember that I do not need your help. If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. All situations will be resolved, but in My time, not yours.

Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now.

If you find yourself stuck in traffic; Don't despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work; Think of the man who has been out of work for years.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad; Think of the person who has never known what it's like to love and be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; Think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance; Think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.

Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror; Think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.

Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking what is my purpose? Be thankful. There are those who didn't live long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; Remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them!

Hope his message helped you as much as it helped me.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;,
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided -
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!

Hello Pastor Al. Long time no see. ;)  Hope your leg is much better these days bro.
That was a perfect devotional. Thank-you.

Cold, raining and foggy.  That's Brum this morning...not nice at all!

Judy Mc.  Snow is forecast for some parts over the next few days.  Usually Birmingham is last to get this as we are in the Middle of England, away from the coast and away from the mountains. When I was small this city was a very industrial area, it is changed now. Many engineering companies have closed down...E.U. competition etc.,also due to the clean air act, it is a different Birmingham to the one I grew up in.  Factory chimneys no-longer belch out huge funnels of dirty black smoke, buldings are much cleaner and you can see the sun ..when it deigns to shine.  ;D    Thinking of you Judy  :-* Give my Best Wishes to Norm also.

Sarah.  Well done.  Hi there little one.

Hello and God Bless to all C.P'ers today,
Also to all visitors to this pad.

:) :) Al, Thanks for the devotional.  It is a good reminder to let go and let God have my worries.  So often I worry about the lack of interest my teenage grandchildren are  showing in church.  I wish they would get back into church...that their parents would get back into church to be able to worship, praise and learn.  But, alas! that is not happening.  Just the other way around and it pops into my mind and heart all day.  Now, I know I'm supposed to put it in the SFGTD folder...but I keep bringing it back.
Lasst night when I was at choir practice I was worrying again...when all of a sudden I said to myself...kathy, these are praise songs..now concentrate on nothing but worshiping Jesus.  That helped a lot and now here it is in the AM and you've given me this good devotional to remind me to focus on the good.  Sometimes God honors us by letting us experience trials and tribulations so that we can grow closer and closer to Him.

A blessed day to all.......kathy :) :) :)

Good morning, friends,

Another chilly day here in Nashville. Now - reallllly! We're here in the South, and our temps are about 20 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year. Brrrr.

Y'all have a great day with the Lord. Al, each time I read the Memo from God, I appreciate it more. I also like the acronym: FROG (Fully Rely On God).

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Marilyn

Good Morning to one and all. Thanks Al for the Memo from God. I am really trying my best to leave it all in God's hands without taking it back in prayer, or with the sin of worry. It is so hard to walk by faith and not by sight. We were just discussing that last night as we were studying in James 4, that very thing came up in some of the discussion.

Today is a busy day for me. I am going to my client Jan's this morning and taking her to have her hair cut.  Later this afternoon I am going to have my nails done then I have to be at a union meeting by 5:30 in Eureka.

I am up 1/2 hour earlier this morning, I have to do my excersises before  go to work. I now have a series of 12 moves I have to do 3 times each holding each for 5 seconds. It is a good thing the therapist has given me handouts on each one or  woulod never remember all of them.

Going now to enter an update on Fay.

Al:  Thanks ever so much for today's message.  I am going to copy it and print.  Could look at that every day of the rest of this life.

Jenny:  Oh, no - snow in your area.  That must be so unusual and it is only October.  So beautiful when it is snowing and so dangerous as well.  Take care.  Are you warm enough?  I never had a sister - I am the oldest and have two brothers so was always the babysitter and started dinner so it is just wonderful to "chat" with other women.

Just sick and tired of the political ads and cannot wait for this to be over.  But - it is wonderful to be in a democracy and able to vote.  Not that many years ago women were not allowed to vote.  We study the issues and really agonize on this - then try to do what seems the least damage.  :^)

Carol

Larry Hanna

HI everyone.  Like Ruth Ann we are experiencing our first cool day as it still hasn't reached 60 degrees.  Jenny, I know that is still pretty warm when compared to what you are having.  We still have not had a frost.

Carol, I expect you are getting a lot of political ads (we are not yet on the national level) since you have the electorial college question on your ballot and it could impact on the election.

Marilyn, I agree that we need things written down for us on things like exercises.

Sarah, I have never thought of EMT work as being fun.  Glad you enjoy what you are doing.

Kathy, I understand your concern regarding your children.  We have the same situation.  Our children were raised in the church but now don't have anything to do with it.

Al, your devotional has such sound advice.  It is so simple and yet is so difficult for us to do.

I have the biopsy this afternoon and we will have to leave fairly soon.  Fortunately the preparation is not as extensive as the last test I had done.  Am not looking forward to this afternoon but will be glad to have it over and then will have to wait a week for the results.  This is a good item to put in God's inbox.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning from cool,  but gloriously sunny Oregon coast.  TODAY......I mow the lawn!  I can't put if off one day longer.

AL, I loved the Memo From God.  A reminder to me to do just that.

I too have children and grandchildren who need Jesus so.  I just pray for them.  I cannot change a heart.  God can.   So I always ask Him to do that.  You, I , hate it when we see them making choices that could only come from darkness.....and know the outcome will be a painful  end.  I'd like to ask the Lord to let them by pass this particular  lesson, but I  don't' think He'd honor that prayer. :)

Jenny, just for you......I'll take some of your cold and you can have some of our sunshine.  We have plenty to share.   Let me know how you plan to send the cold to me, and I'll send you sunshine on the reply. haha   SONSHINE is yours every day.  It's easy to see that.  You just shine all over the place.

Beth, I am really enjoying my 5 puppies too.  They are small, probably as yours, and so very sweet and snuggly.  Mine were 4 weeks old yesterday and don't have teeth yet.  They sure like to chew on us with their gums....so I know they're teething too.  Cute, cute, cute.    Yesterday the whole family had baths.  We dried  them with the hair dryer, then finally put them in front of the heater with mom where they nursed and fell promptly asleep.  We, my daughter and I, carried the puppies, and mom went ahead, back to their bed to continue their much deserved  conked-out time.

I am getting more excited about this weekend.  My sisters and I have rented a Cabin in Florence, Oregon....on a lake, and will be spending the weekend there together.  I love my sisters and we have so much fun together.  We laugh a lot, hug a lot.  We always have a healing time together.  They are beautfiul people and I'm blessed they are in my family.  Carol, since I always had my sisters , and we are very close, I don't know what it would be like  not to have them.   It's great that you have a way to chat with other women here.  :D

Larry, I am praying.  This truly is one of those "give it to God" things......but it is the honor of family of  Christ to surround you with prayer.  Let us know as you know.

Blessings, blessings, blessings on us all.  love, Nita

Etta Sue

I, too, will be glad when the elections are over.  I didn't watch the debate last night because of being at Small Groups but I recorded it.  I will watch it.  Of course, I am biased because I KNOW who I want to win.

Sarah, I am so glad that you are taking some college courses.  I am also so glad that I don't have children that are in college or going to college.  It seems to me that college has gone so negative...time to party and do your own thing with no thought to what your actions are doing to others and yourself.  I know the media likes to feed us negative thoughts but today I read in the paper where Purdue University started out in the beginning of this year with 25 Gold bicycles to be used by the students.  You see a Gold bike, you ride it to your class or building, leave it out and when someone else needs a ride, they take the Gold bike and ride it.  Well, it seems that 20 of the bikes can no longer be used because of vandals have damaged them and a few others are missing.  The bike program has been cancelled.  Then Ball State is the dangerous college in the state with rapes, murders and suicides.  I don't blame the colleges.  I really don't blame the parents.  I still blame the fact that prayer has been taken out of school.  It all started then...IMHO.

Another dismal, looks like rain anytime, day.  Weird, here we needed rain and now that it has come, we are wishing for the sunshine!!!!  It is cool...53 degrees F.

Today, my family and I are going to a funeral home visitation for two people.  One of our first cousins passed away...I am the youngest of 19...Kenny was 81.  And at the same funeral home is an underclass-woman that lived a couple of miles south of me.  Karen was only 58.  But both at home now...thank God for that.

Last night, at Jerry's, he had the inside door open.  His mobile home park has cats.  Well, this little female tiger came to his door.  It seems Jerry has been letting her in sometimes.  So in comes this adorable little kitten...looks to be about 4-6 months old.  She is so loving....nothing like my two.  Betcha Jerry gets a litter box and some food soon!  That would be so much company for him...but then, when he cat sits for Bubba next February, Bubba might not like it.  We will see.

Nita..Thank-you for the Sonshine!  I do try. ;)  Yes I am "very trying."

Larry.  Please let us know how things go with the biopsy.

Carol  I had a lovely tiome with my "Sister" in the Lord and friend Carol.  we chatted for nearly 3 hours... :o  I do have a sister.  she is 4 years older than in and lives further away.  I do not see her very often. She leads a busy life with her husband and their daughter and gr. kids live near them. They are not Christians.
Now it is raining heavily and very cold.  Black skies overhead.

Going to get tea ready, well evening meal as Christopher is home tonight.  We shall have spaghetti bolognese....easy peasy.

See you all later...

Jenny.

Carol

I am listening to music on the laptop - this supposed to be my 'puter.  This is great because we have not been able to get sound for months and did not understand why - I can get many nice stations off Yahoo Messenger and this is actually Christian soft music.  There is a Praise & Worship site as well but have not tried that or the Christian Rock yet.  So, now able to pick the music in here as well.  This is free in case anyone is interested.

Larry:  Such down and dirty political ads around here.  On the vote for splitting electoral votes, we would do so if every state had it on their ballots.  But - the money for this is coming from Brazil and California and in other words, outsiders pushing to change things in this state.  But - we can lose political clout as a state if these votes are divided and no one is considering the consequences of such an act, and only thinking of their individual vote.

Went for coffee and sure do like a new health food store in town with good prices on fresh produce so probably bought too much.  Don is feeling better and in the workshop but still some pain.

Well, this music is much too much rocking - I will have to try the Praise and Worship and see what that is like.

Jenny, a quick report on my afternoon.  We got to the facility early and I was called back to a room right on time.  However, I sat there and sat there and finally about 45 minutes later a nurse opened the door and told me they hadn't forgotten me and the doctor was finishing up a procedure and should be with me shortly.  I sat there another 30 minutes and then a nurse came in and took me to the procedure room.  From that point on the procedure probably took no more than 20 minutes or so.  There really wasn't any pain as they had used some deadening medicine.  Since I got home I have taken a pain pill as was told to do so as the deadening will wear off.  They took 12 samples so can expect some pain and perhaps a little fever but it should be over in a day or so.  So far so good.  Now I have to wait a week for the results so will just put it out of my mind until next week.

We will be having friends to visit with tomorrow.  A fellow I used to work with in Washington, DC and he wife, whom we have never met, are in Atlanta to visit his son who works here.  They will come out around 10 am and we will visit and go out to lunch.  Pat is planning on baking a cherry pie for a snack later in the afternoon.

Carol, glad you have been able to get your music to play and know you will enjoy it.  I also use streaming audio to listen to radio programs during the day or sports events.

Nita, it sounds like you will be having a great weekend.  So nice that you can get together with your sisters.

Rachel, I will check out your new photos and your PSP creation.

Etta  Sue, having two funeral visitations in one day is really a lot.

Pat

Hi Everyone...

It's nice to hear about your biopsy, Larry and we'll be waiting eagerly for the results when you get them.

Thanks for the newest photos of Dexter, Rachel.  I'm on my way there when I post this.

I'm not going to comment on everyone's posts.  I've been fighting a "down" feeling yesterday and today and just haven't been here and I'm much behind in commenting so I better be safe than sorry or I'll leave someone out.

I'll be back a little later.

So sory you are having a "down" day, Pat  I started the day off the same way...today is the birthday of my son who died when he was 33...almost 12 years ago..but it still hurts on days like today.

Then we had a tragedy at work...someone was killled on the job.  That made my thoughts seem so small.  I will ask for prayer for this young man's family.  I did not know him except by name and I do pray he knew the Lord as his Savior.  We just never know when we will be taken in death.

later, kathy

Ohh, Kathy...  such a tragedy.  I'm sorry for this young man's family.  So often over the years, when Jack was working, he'd come home and tell me of such accidents that he'd have to investigate and it was sad hearing about.

Hey Rachel!  You trying to make us eat donuts?  LOL  That's quite a different profile photo of you!  HAHAHA!  Hope that our weight watchers don't rush to that donut shop!

Pat, I'm so sorry you're have one of those down times.  I wonder if there is one human alive who never has those days?  And some of us more.  I've always said that because Jesus is in me.....if I go down, I can only fall into His arms.  I'm praying this for you, dear Pat.

I'm saying an early goodnight.  I'm going to church later, then will come home to be all packed and ready to go in the morning.  We can have the house by 9 am. How cool is that?

I did it!  I  mowed my lawn until I ran out of gas.  I took that as a "sign" that I could quit.  The near back is done and the front where driver-passers can see is done.  all the tall grass is done.  I'll get the rest after vacation and when the grass is dry again.

My daughter is staying here to babysit puppies.  She's really looking forward to that.  Paul, her hubby, works nights anyway, so she'll stay here, leave around noon the next day to wake him and then fix his lunch, love on him some, then get him off to work and back to the little bunny puppies.  :)  She's perfect for this job....loves babies of all kinds.

I have to go check out Dexter's pictures before I go. :)

I'll be back Sunday night.  Have a blessed weekend everyone.

Pat

Nita, I hope you come back with lots of photos!

WHAT GOD HATH PROMISED
(Click to hear music)

This is what He has promised us…eternal life.
1 John 2:25

Words: Annie J. Flint, 1919.

Music: William M. Runyan, 1919

God hath not promised skies always blue,
Flower strewn pathways all our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.

Refrain

But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing sympathy, undying love.

God hath not promised we shall not know
Toil and temptation, trouble and woe;
He hath not told us we shall not bear
Many a burden, many a care.

Refrain

God hath not promised smooth roads and wide,
Swift, easy travel, needing no guide;
Never a mountain rocky and steep,
Never a river turbid and deep.

Refrain

Papa John

Excuse me for not getting here yesterday.  We have been busy this week with a lot of little jobs and errands and every night until tonight we have spent two hours at the marriage seminar.

Larry I did not teach this seminar.  But I was very interested because it was so well done by professionals.  It was presented by Dr. Jerry Jones and his wife Lynn.  He is a former head of the Bible Department at Harding University, Searcy Arkansas.  She is a licensed  clinical psychologist and marriage counselor.  They conduct 30 of these seminars each year.  In any case it emphasized having Jesus in the marriage, having a servant heart, being forgiving and learning to be unselfish.  It was really enjoyable for Cornelia and me.  --- I hope your a good report from your test today.  God bless you my friend.

Etta Sue, I will also be glad when the elections are over.  I missed the debate last night because we were at church.  Anyway we took advantage of early voting and voted today.  Early voting started here yesterday.

Jenny, you are “very trying?”  I don’t believe it.  ---  I have a sister who also lives here in Nashville.  She had her 80th birthday today.  I called her and talked on the phone.  She and her husband are both faithful Christians.

Pat, sorry about the “down” feeling.  But you know you have so many people who love you and who do understand.  And, of course, we have a friend who “sticketh closer than a brother.”

Kathy, I know when days come like today to remind you of your dear son it is difficult.  And then to have an accident at your place of work and someone is killed that is bound to be traumatic for you.

I hope you all have a good rest tonight.

--- Papa John
