Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Psalm 5:11, 12.  "But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; let those also who love Your Name be joyful in You.  For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield."

This is a psalm about being in peril.  David sang it about a time in which he was in danger.  It's his heartfelt prayer to Jehovah.  The peril was the persuasiveness of certain other men.  He knew they were up to no good and were lying to ensnare him in their own evil ways.  But he also knew how weak and easily persuaded he himself was.

His overriding desire was to be an exmple for all whose trust was steadfastly in the Lord and His goodness.  He wanted to stand faithfully so that all the Lord's people would be encouraged.  He wanted them to be able to come each day to the temple with a genuine "shout for joy" because of God's wonderfully helping hand, and he wanted them to love their Lord Jehovah.  In other words, he wanted them all to see in his actions and words  that the Lord was their perfect and unchangeable defense in all of life.
Can you sing this song with David this morning?  Do you want your life to be a good example for others?

I think I couldn't sleep the other night because I worked real hard finishing an afghan and was worried that I was running out of yarn after I purchased the last skein at WalMart.  I had maybe 24 inches left when I got done.  It is a heavy afghan...really ought to keep me warm this winter while watching TV.  So I was tired physically and mentally.

Judy, my high school friend, and I went out to eat at Logan's Steak House.  Love those baked sweet potatoes.  Then when I got home I got a call from Tony...he had been here and I wasn't home.  Wouldn't you know the one time I leave on Sunday evening, he comes to see me and I am not here.

Now today I am off to get my flu shot.  Then to return something at WalMart and come back home.  It is cloudy and looks like rain any minute.  It hadn't rained yet when I took my trash out but you can feel it in the air.  My Maple tree in the front yard is getting colorful!

Hi everyone.  We have an overcast day and it is likely we will have rain this afternoon and again tomorrow.  I have a light schedule today.  We may go out to eat with friends this evening as they are leaving on Thursday to spend the winter months in Florida.

We had a great day yesterday.  It was very busy but enjoyable.  We had a good church service following Sunday School and then a very nice salad luncheon for the seniors with a lady who sang three songs and had a lovely voice.  That was followed by a presentation about and containing humor as being a gift from God. We enjoyed the visit of our daughter.

Sorry to read that several of you are having problems sleeping at night.  That sure isn't my problem and last night I had trouble staying awake until 10 pm.

Etta Sue, we always enjoy going to a Logan's Roadhouse and being able to have the peanuts and throwing the hulls on the floor.  The Logan's we had nearby closed a few months ago but there is a new place called Texas Roadhouse that has the peanuts.  We haven't been there yet but understand they play the music fairly loud.

Marilyn, glad you are sleeping well.  Hope you don't have to work too hard today.

Al, thanks for the fine devotional today and also for the humor.

Good to see Chris and Sue posting and everyone else I haven't addressed today or who will stop by.

Liz

Thanks for the devotional, Al.  Now, as for your jokes......!   ;D

No rain yet this morning.  Sunday it poured all day.  I left Misty sleeping on a chair and went to the city with the kids.  They went to a home show to learn about some things they plan to change in the house.....I went to the mall to change a pair of slacks that were too large.  Can't find sizes that fit anymore....still wear the same size clothes...but sizes are all crazy in the new clothing.  Could be because everything is made in China now....??  Whatever happened to good old Canadian and American made clothing..... :(

Wendy & Ralph are going to Maui in five weeks and hope it is still there....terrible about the earthquake.  Karen's son is there on a golf scholarship at University in Hawaii.  Hope he is okay.  One holiday the kids finally plan and it will be hard enough on Wendy without having to deal with earthquakes too.....Life is really unpredictable, even more so if a holiday is scheduled.

Sorry that you didn't get to go on your little trip, Marilyn.  Hope that you are feeling better now.  Has anyone had their flu shop yet?  We are not getting the shots until Nov. if a senior.  Could go and pay...tried and the clinic was booked solid.  So will wait until Nov. and dodge the germs if possible.

Nothing new or exciting here, so will close and hope that everyone has a Pleasant Day/Evening.
God Bless,

Liz

Howdy!  :)  Sounds as if all of you are up and at it today!

I took Beth's dog to visit her while we went for our workout, and she said they had just given her the flu shot.  At the Sr. Center the other day, they said they only had 30 doses available now and those are only for the highest risk people (like Beth.)  We signed up for ours, but are really healthy, so don't mind waiting until more vaccine is available.  Liz, as long as you are shakin' you won't be likely to get the flu, I don't think.

Yes, Hawaii was "rockin' and rollin' " yesterday, but the good news is no deaths were reported, and last I heard the most serious injury was a broken arm.  That is remarkable, for a 6.6 earthquake.  I just got an email from our pastor's wife, they are in Houston, and she was asking us all to pray for them as Houston is flooding, and under tornado watch.  They were just checking out of their hotel to go to the airport, and lots of flights have been canceled.  Also, one of our board members and his wife are in Hawaii, so they need prayer as well.  They were to return home this week.  Those conditions always affect more than just the residents of the area, though they are affected the most, of course.

We plan to go to Garden this afternoon, do some errands and then attend a Reliv special event this evening.

Abby is out of school Thursday and Friday, so guess who is going to go get her for a visit?  :)

Gotta run, lots to do!

Hi, everyone.  Out my window I see rain, rain, rain!!  And it's the kind I like the best: Wet! :) I love the puddles that splash against the tires of cars going up the hill,  I love the way it streaks down my windows, I just really like rain.  It isn't heavy enough to have sounds on the roof, but we can't have everything. haha

Boy-oh-boy!  You busy people are the busiest people I know.  haha  I would wear myself out, physically, spiritually and emotionally if I had to go at your pace.  Isn't it something how God makes us all so different?   I have a sister who is mother of 4, all into sports, wouldn't miss a single event, works a ranch, logging business, grocery store,  and still has time to do other things.  I'm amazed at her energy.  She couldn't be any other way.  I get tired just reading her letters. haha

Hoping you're all having a blessed day.  Nita

I see it is about time I came in to post something for today. I have been over to
Ruth's to clean out her fridge and wash up the dishes I emptied.

I am feeling better today just mostly taking it easy.

I feel lucky to be able to come into CP and find such sustaining words based on the Bible, appropriate humor and friendly folk.

Janet & Etta Sue:  Not sleeping well now?  I hope these episodes don't last long.  It sometimes hits me as well for 3 to 4 nights in a row and it is always something unresolved that lurks in the darkness of my mind.

Chris, Al, Marilyn:  Thanks for the light banter.  Chris, it was nice to see you post.

Al:  Thank you for today's devotion and the nice music.  It has a country-western beat, don't you think?

Liz:  We found a flu shot at the first of October and got there about five minutes before closing & everyone else had gone so we were lucky to get the shot.  Have not heard of shortages here - last year it was difficult.

Nita:  Can rain be other than wet?  Just curious.  We are always glad to get rain - it is pretty dry in Colorado.

Would someone please tell me how JudyB is doing these days?  I have not seen her posting or perhaps have missed it.

Thanks for the good Word, Al!

It's been a couple of relaxing days for me.  I appreciate God's encouragement to take time for us to get refreshed.

There are a couple of days left to get your Autumn pictures in for the "Signs of Autumn" challenge.  I look forward to seeing your entries.

The good Word I read this morning comes from Ephesians 2.

It wasn't so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin.  You let the world, which doesn't know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience.  We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. It's a wonder God didn't lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us.  Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love,  he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us!  Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.

What a great devotional today.

I had company drop in this morning and we ended up going out for lunch and then I decided to visit another friend so my day was a busy one of visiting.

I had a telephone call from Judy McKenna.  Norm is on oxygen nearly all the time at home and is unable to do much for Judy and she's unable to do much for herself.  So keep them in your prayers.
