Morning Devotional...

And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job...a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, [to Job]...Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?Job 1:8; Job 22:1, 5

What a vast disparity between two assessments of the same man!

Eliphaz went on to add a rash of false accusations. Two lessons may be learned.

First, only God's opinion counts, so we should live our lives to please Him and not be weighed down by man's allegations.

Secondly, beware lest we ourselves make unfounded conclusions and pass them on.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:1,2

I went for a little visit of five days (to Areley House). There were ten persons in the house, some unconverted and long prayed for, some converted, but not rejoicing Christians. He gave me the prayer, "Lord, give me all in this house!" And He just did.

Before I left the house every one had got a blessing.

The last night of my visit after I had retired, the governess asked me to go to the two daughters. They were crying.  Then and there both of them trusted and rejoiced; it was nearly midnight. I was too happy to sleep, and passed most of the night in praise and renewal of my own consecration; and these little couplets formed themselves, and chimed in my heart one after another till they finished with "Ever, Only, ALL for Thee!"
Havergal Manuscripts

Musician:  Henri A.C. Malan, 1787-1864 [/size]

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold; not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect, and use every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own; it shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for Thee.

Oh, how true that "only God's opinion counts".

This is short (and sweet?), but I wanted to check in and say hello.  I still have Rene here and my sister, Sue.

I'll be back again.  I read the discussions re repentance and the sorrow over the condition of the "church".   I agree with your comments, but have another thought...long held by me.  The outward form of the "church" only hides the true Church of Jesus Christ.    Though I can despair at what I see.....I know that within that decaying outer, is the true jewel...the Bride of Christ, the remnent.

We sorrow at the sin all around us......our hearts break at seeing the only Savior given by God, Jesus Christ, His Son, rejected and people in such bondage.  And we sorrow even more when we see those who are "called by His Name", more comfortable in the world than in His Presence.  But we are so powerful on our knees.
I think God allows us to see and feel all this so that we will run to Him and pour our hearts out to Him....the passion of a broken heart.  Because that's His heart.  I think so anyway.

Have a blessed today.  We are fine here.  God is so truly here for us.....for Rene.  It's amazing feeling His love and comfort.

Good morning all and God bless everyone today.

The devotional was wonderful this morning.  It reminds us that we are all living for the Saviour and should only be concerned about his assessment of us.  It takes all of the stress out of the Christian life.

I read the discussions last night about helping the needy.  It was a very interesting discussion and a good one to think about.  I think we need to be led by God in these situations.

Anyway, my throat feels like it's been rubbed by sandpaper and I go giddy everytime I stand up, so I'd better go and have a lie down.

God bless and thanks for the fellowship.

Anthony.

Hi everyone.  I am back at the Technical College awaiting my daughter to finish her math class.  She is taking advanced Algebra, not that she will ever use it, but a requirement for the program she is finishing up.

Pat, thanks for the fine devotional this morning.  It was an interesting discussion that was started by Janet's question.  I honestly don't know how I would react in that situation.  We don't see much of that situation in the places where I go but understand that downtown Atlanta has quite a problem on their streets and the panhandling industry that seems to exist.

Pat or Teresa Dawn, a question--what is interact?  Is that like a credit or debit card?

Marilyn, would you save me a piece of that apple pie?  It sure sounds good and a homemade pie crust.  I am impressed.

Etta Sue, hope you and Kitty were able to get some beautiful pictures.  With you new camera they will be spectular, I am sure.

Anthony, sure hope the flu bug doesn't stay around too long for you.

Janet, I got my flu shot about a week ago.  There doesn't seem to be any discussion of shortages this year but there was a long line waiting at Kaiser.  It took me probably 45 minutes before they got to me.  Fortunately there was a place to sit down.  Glad they were willing to come out to your car to give Beth her shot.

Tbear, I know you all will be greatly relieved when you sign the final papers on your old house.  A couple of my coffee drinking buddies have or are selling their homes and moving into different houses.  One of them had his house on the market just a few days and a buyer came by with cash and said he would take it "as is" and they are closing tomorrow afternoon.  They had already purchased a unit in a retirement community and had moved. The other friend won't close until after Thanksgiving and they are buying a new home some miles away.

Karmat, those one day trips can be nice.  It sure sounds like Travis is going to be quite a golfer.  It is nice that you let him play the Putt-Putt golf.

Ruth Ann, if you are like me I have a whole box of different medications.  I sort them out in two weekly boxes as have too many to try to take them from the bottles on a daily basis.  Glad the new one you will be taking isn't an expensive one.

Don't have anything planned for today but this evening we are going to eat dinner at the church and then attend a special stewardship meeting and finally will attend choir practice.  Pat and I will both have to drive as she will be ready to come home after the meeting.  She was going to Bible Study and then crafts today at the church so she will be spending most of the day and evening there.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  I am certainly worried for our Florida friends with the new very strong hurricane headed their way.

Good Morning, Not a lot new here this morning.

Thanks Pat for the devotional today.
I am wondering what interact is also, is that like an ATM card here in the states?

Larry as much time as you are spending at the school maybe you ought to take a class too. :laugh:

Nita good to hear from you today.

Anthony just take it easy today and rest a lot, drink lots of fluids  and gargle with warm salt water to take away the scratchy sore throat. Do you have vitamin C and Zinc to take?

Karma have you taken lots of photos of Travis playing putt putt golf?

Janet I am praying for Beth. You certainly are keeping busy just like me.

Today I am taking Versal to town like I said yesterday. Her grandson is getting married in a couple of weeks and she wants a new dress. I am taking her wheelchair today as her back is hurting a lot again and her next epidural will be given next Monday.  hope this one works for her she is in so much pain. We will probable go to lunch while we are in town.

Another trip to town tomorrow when I take Jan in for shopping, will are going to bed Bath and beyond and to Costco then out to lunch.

Have a great day
Marilyn

Just popping back to read the messages and say hi.

Nita, it was a good thought about the real church and just the outward church.  This situation seemed to have been present during the sojournings of the children of Israel.  Of all of the people who came out of Egypt, only two were brought into the promised land.  It said of Joshua and Caleb, that they 'wholly' served the Lord.

Larry, I had to smile when you said about your daughter doing advanced algebra.  I have a job adding more than three numbers together.  I'm sure that all of those hours of study will bring a good reward for her.

Marilyn, I hope everything goes well for you as you go to town today.  I dislike going to our city centre.  There's nowhere to park and it's way too busy.

Anyway, thanks all for the concern about the bug I've got.  I am sure it will go eventually  :-\

Anthony.

ps.  Teresa Dawn, I got your pm.  I don't understand what those error messages are all about, the pm's come through fine.  I know what you are saying about your nanna.  I think that's why my mother wants to stay at home if we can manage it.  Speak to you soon. :)

Hello everyone!  Travis and Bernard have gone with "Papaw Ran" (nard's dad) to play golf and I am taking a vacation from vacation!  We have got to get some laundry done or we will have no clothes to wear.

Gotta run in just a minute, but something funny happened yesterday.  We were in Pigeon Forge and I was talking to a couple of ladies and giving them my Mary Kay information.  One of them listens, says, "Thank you, that is very nice, adn by the way, my name is Louise Mandrell."  Hahahah.  If you don't know who she is, do a google search or look at this link:
http://www.cmt.com/artists/az/mandrell_louise/artist.jhtml (http://www.cmt.com/artists/az/mandrell_louise/artist.jhtml)

I used to watch her on TV when I was young every Saturday night!

Take care and I hear the laundry calling my name. :)

Havea  great day!

I just had to post after reading Karma's post.  The last time we went to Pigeon Forge, we went to Louise Mandrells Theater for Sunday morning church service.  It was great!  She is so down to earth for someone in "the business"

She took time after the service to greet people and thank them for coming out to church while on vacation.  She tried to hug on my son who was 7 at the time and he just ran away!

Havent been able to post much, but have all of you in my thoughts.

Quick prayer request:  My husband Terry has a case of shingles on his nose.  Very painful.  God is good, please remember him in prayer when you can.  They say it takes weeks to get over the shingles.

Thanks,
Samantha :D

QuoteFirst, only God's opinion counts, so we should live our lives to please Him and not be weighed down by man's allegations.

Secondly, beware lest we ourselves make unfounded conclusions and pass them on.

Pat:  Thanks for the devotion.  Yes, it is so important to not make "unfounded conclusions" or, leap to conclusions as my dad used to say.

Anthony:  I will check out your Blog on Italy for sure...but not today.  I slept so late because of being awake so many hours last night & now am behind.

Janet:  Through all my research & working with homeless and just down-and-almost out people, we never hand people money.  I did years ago & we were so broke ourselve, it was Christmas & a young man looked so poor and said "God Bless" - the father came into our place and told us that it was his son on the street and his son had joined a cult.  Never again.  We have helped by buying sleeping bags and money towards car repair and that is it.  People can get help - food and clothing at just about any small-sized city and larger & shelters are available - if they don't want the information, then it may be a scam.  I know your heart is in the right place, saying a prayer over them can be of some comfort.

Carol

Samantha:  Just read your note & I send a prayer that the shingles is cured quickly & doesn't spread...

Yes, I usually say "debit" as well but thought the same.  Thought everyone would know about "interact".  LOL

So, yes!  Interact is Debit!

JESUS LOVES ME (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/jesus-loves-me.midi)

Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow.
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.

CHORUS
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go.
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.

CHORUS

Though I am no longer young,
I have much which He's begun.
Let me serve Christ with a smile,
Go with others the extra mile.

CHORUS

When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song.
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near."

CHORUS

When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love

CHORUS

I love Jesus, does he know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.

CHORUS

Just had my tea and thought I'd come to read through all of the posts.  It's good to see so many people posting today.

Etta Sue, we've had the worst downpour of rain I can remember in a long time.  The hail was bashing against the windows too.  I have to admit to envying you and the sunshine.  I trust you had a good day and that you get a lot of photographs.

Karma, is this the same 'Mary Kay' that Marilyn had experience with?  I've never heard of it before.  I checked out the website.  It's good to meet someone famous.

Samantha, I know how nasty shingles can be.  My brother had it in his eyes.  He couldn't have any rest from work either as he is a manager and was extremely busy at that time.  Will endeavour to keep you in prayer.

Carol, thanks for planning on looking at the blog.  There are so many websites that we can look aren't there?  but I'm glad you want to take a look.  Thanks also for your comments on the homeless.  It is difficult to distinguish the real needy from the ones who just don't want to help themselves.

TeresaDawn, I never heard the term 'interact' in that context before. I'd better be careful about telling someone I want to  interact with them in future.  They might think I want to give them something  :D

Pat, great hymn to post up.  I love to sing along with these hymns while I'm posting on CP.

Catch y'all later.

Anthony.

Howdy, Y'all! I'm just home from Garden city, after having my cataract evaluation appointment.  Dr. Fry says the cataracts are not bad enough yet to remove--or rather, that removing them now would not improve my eyesight enough to justify doing it.  My eyes are very dry, so he wants me to use the new Restasis drops.  Those things are PRICY---$100 per month!  :o  He gave me some samples, and says to use only one drop in each eye twice a day, refrigerate the rest to prevent bacteria growing, and that will save money.  He also said the RK surgery I had in 1994 was not a good thing; that the long-term effects of it are causing the instability in my eyesight.  Of course, they didn't know that at the time; and I didn't know they would have lasik surgery available in only another year!  :(  I am to see my local doctor for yet another pair of glasses.  This will make four pairs!! :cool:  One for morning; one for afternoon, one for computer; and sunglasses.  Yeck.   8) 8)

Abby has no school tomorrow or Friday because of parent-teacher conferences, so I will go get her tomorrow morning and she can stay until Sunday.  Darrel is going to Promise Keepers in Denver with the guys from church, so Abby and I will have lots of "girl time" together.  ;)

Thanks for all the responses to my question.  Actually, I never even considered giving her money; but did think of going into the restaurant and paying for her something to eat.  I wanted to ask if she had any shoes, too.  She was acting very strangely; and the "song" she was singing didn't make sense.  I have no idea, really, what her condition was, she looked healthy, but............

My sister lives near the town where she was and when I told her she was really surprised.  She said she has never seen anything similar in North Platte before.  Wonder where she came from?

Well, I still think I would have liked to just speak to her for a minute, and see where the Lord led from there.........

I was really disgusted a few years ago, after giving some money to a woman holding a sign "Homeless, no job, hungry children" in Hutchinson.  We had just come from an inspiring church service and I was feeling charitable..........anyway, the very next day there was a front-page story in the newspaper about this woman and her husband.  They had NO children, and had bragged about how they were making far more money panhandling on that corner than they had ever made by working!!  >:(  I think they were run out of town after that! :idiot:  So I'm not inclined to just hand them money any more!!!

Hey!  It is beginning to rain here!  The sun was shining just a bit ago when we got home!

Karma, how cool is that??  That would be neat to have HER for a customer!  Your day vacations sound fun, even though I'm sure you are disappointed not to go on the trip you had planned.  Maybe next time.

Anthony, hope you squash that flu bug quickly!  I'm still taking the Vitamin C and Zinc and getting better.  Mary Kay is a pretty popular brand of cosmetics/skin care here in the states.  I like it!  ;)

Pat and Teresa Dawn, I never heard the term interact before either.  But I do know what a debit card is. ::)

Larry, glad you can at least use a computer while your daughter (what is her name, anyway?) is in class.  It would be pretty boring for you otherwise.

Diane called me last night.  She had been to Boise City where their Dad lived, and picked up some things designated for her and Beth.  She was feeling pretty down; it is really hard on her seeing things the way they are now.  It will be good to have the auction over with and the estate settled.  I know there will be even more hurt feelings, etc. but then they can all start the healing process.  She did have a nice visit with her dad's sister, who will be 80 next month.

This is getting way too long, sorry.  Bye!

Janet, I'm sure glad you didn't lose that post. :thumbsup: It looks like it took a long time.  I am sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with your eyes.  It sounds like you've had a real bad time with it all.  I'm glad that you are going to have some time with Abby.  It must be great having a grandaughter like that.

Well, Pat, my hair hasn't turned white yet, but since I am of "advanced years" I liked the version of Jesus Loves Me that you posted.

Not much to say - my tummy was upset and I felt bad, so left work midday and as soon as I settled into my dad's recliner, I fell fast asleep. Must have needed additional rest.

Y'all have a good evening.

He Lives  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/he-lives.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music: Alfred H. Ackley, 1887-

I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;
I know that He is living, whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him, He's always near.

Refrain
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me I see His loving care,
And though my heart grows weary, I never will despair;
I know that He is leading thru all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing will come at last.

Refrain

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!
The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find,
None other is so loving so good and king.

Hymn History:

Rev. Alfred Ackey (1887-1960) was preaching during an evangelistic crusade. After the service he was trying to persuade a young man to give his heart to Christ, when the man said, "Why should I worship a dead Jew?" Ackey stated, "HE LIVES! I tell you, He is not dead, but lives here and now! Jesus Christ is more alive today than ever before. I can prove it by my own experience, as well as the testimony of countless thousands." Later that evening the young man gave his heart to Christ. It was during this experience that Ackey wrote not only the words but also the tune for our hymn, "He Lives."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;
I know that He is living, whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him He's always near.
In all the world round me I see His loving care, And tho my heart grows weary I never will despair;
I know that He is leading thru all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing will come at last.
Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!
The hope of all who seek Him, the help of all who find,
None other is so loving, so good and kind.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.
Well just got back from the rink.  I went skating with my mum today.  It was really busy there today though.  It only cost a twonnie to skate today so my mum paid for me which was really nice of her :) anyways. I'm off for dinner now.
Al sorry, I don't have such a recipe, but you can usually find any recipe online.  Perhaps you can google it?  If not hopefully someone here will have it for you.  I"ve never heard of such a thing lol
Teresa, I think that must be a Canadian thing, since we south of the border folks (from you) are not familiar with it.
I did learn about your two-nies last year, though!  ;)
Hey maybe it is Canadian then lol.
And right, in case anyone is not acquainted with the twonnie, it is the two dollar coin, so basically I meant it cost two dollars to skate lol!
Well, when I was in the UK, I saw signs on banks that had the term "interact" (in Northern Ireland anyway).
