Morning Devotional...

Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.
Psalm 114:7

The Lord is unchangeable.

If the psalmist challenged the earth to tremble at His presence, should not we respect His awesome majesty?

His gracious favor and merciful kindness which withholds immediate judgment, and His apparent silence despite the seriousness of sins committed, does not imply that He is now less holy or less worthy of reverence.

Do we recognize and adore His perfections? "He is thy Lord, and worship thou Him" (Ps. 45:11).
--Garry W. Seale

Lord, what shall earth and ashes do?
We would adore our Maker too;
From sin and dust to Thee we cry,
The Great, the Holy, and the High.
Isaac Watts

Oh my goodness! ...  :o  I was here earlier, but thought I'd wait and see if someone else would come along and be first to post for October 20 ... since no one did I guess it's up to me again!   :D

I went to the Medical Center for Lab work and they had the usual problem finding a vein from which to draw blood ... ended up using the vein on the back of my hand!   :o  That left me with a large raised bruise for the rest of the day... oh well.  I asked about the flu shots and they said to go to my doctor, which I did.  There I was told the shots are for "the really high risk patients" ... which means heart and respiratory problems.  I was told they had 600 shots to give out last year and this year only 60  :o  There will be a clinic at one of the local stores on Friday.  I may see about going there.  Actually, I believe, there will be more vaccine later this year and, if not, I will be okay anyway.  My Father takes good care of me.

I'll be back later to see who has managed to come along for the fresh coffee and goodies I have arranged on the counter here in the kitchen ... y'all help yourself!   :D (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.webpost.net%2Fhi%2FHisOwn%2Fcoffeeanim.gif&hash=d982ba7557f0561ad89521c41331606289fa29dc)

Morning...

Tea please Jane. Decaff variety.  Nice and hot though. ;)

Glad to see someone up and about over there today ...ha ha...thought we'd been forgotten yesterday...It's alright Janet. I have popped in and seen your good devotional ...I love that chorus by the way,.used to sing it at Sunday School years ago.

Pat.  Please send me some of that sleep sand.  I need it badly!!!

It is pouring with rain again over here and dark skies....glad that our God changes not.

I am out to lunch today.  Carol is having our little Group to her home for a celebration of hers and my own 60th birthdays, which we each celebrated during the Summer. That will be rather nice...not the brie cheese though, I don't like it and I understand that all will have a French flavour since Carol is all very into "France" and "things French"..anticipating moving there sometime in the future. However, she is making a chocolate cake for afters... :P...Scrummy!

Must go now, things to do and to get showered and poshed up for the outing.

Luv u all.
God Bless.
Jenny.

 :D :D Good morning to all.   :D :D

It is a mild day here in SC as the temp is 68 this morning.  I slept with the windows open last night (I love it when I can do that!!)

I've started my seasonal afghan last night.  I hope I can finish it before winter is over.  I'm not as fast as Etta Sue and the rest of you.  I only do a little at night.  We have a good show to watch on ETV.  Julie Andrews is presenting Broadway for the next 2 nights...2-hrs each night.  I found a tape and put it in last night to get the 1st installment as I go to be before 11 usually.

A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO FAST EDDIE

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm on my way to Costco!  I have a friend with membership and so when she goes (it's in another town), she phones me and asks if I'd like to go.  So, rush, rush, rush for me.  But I'll be back later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
FAST EDDIE!

Good morning, it's a fairly warm morning here in Nashville, and many of the bad storms we've had are gone. Only a few more to go, they say.

Makes me think of the wonderful Mosie Lister song my husband loved so much "Til the Storm Passes By."

Jenny, hope the party was great. Jane - I ahve difficulty with my veins, too.

Fast Eddie, have a great day, today.

Y'all have a good day.

Well, we're back from our little mini trip up into Oregon - it was raining and blowing (hard) up there.  Got to visit very nicely with son and DIL, though, so it was worth the trip.  Oh that Oregon coastline is SO beautiful!  And to  think there are actually lots of people who live where they can look out of their windows at it!  Thou shalt not envy.

Janet, that massage sounds sooooo good!  I had one like that some years ago when I was in the hospital.  Almost made me want to stay!

Good Morning:
Al So glad you made it back all safe and sound through allthe rain and wind. I have yet to see wind here as bad as it was in the desert when I lived there. 50, 75 and even 100 mph was normal.

No work for me for a while, I am going to the hospital to see Gloria this morning and to the nursing home to see Fay also, they are just down the street from each other. then I will deliver my time sheet to the office so I can get my paycheck. It will be so nice to have some time off to do things at home and to get some much needed rest.

I will also sign up for my unemployment insurance. Must go do my excersises now. Laters.

Good morning....it is still morning here.  Well, the weathermen are wrong.  They said it was going to be sunny today.  It isn't.  Actually it is misting rain.  And windy!  49 degrees F.  So much for mulching leaves with my mower.  Perhaps tomorrow.

Tonight is Small Groups.  I love going there with my friends.  I remember this time last year when we didn't know each other and how quiet we were...not participating in the study.  Sure isn't that way this year.  We all have a great time learning God's word.

Hi I am back.... ;D

Gosh I am so full.  We had a marvellous meal.  Carol has a sort of grill thingie, from France which sits on the table and we cook our own meat etc.,(Carol gave us diced chicken and steak) mushrooms, peppers...We had salad and french fries and lovely soft rolls with butter....and some wonderful Australian red wine...We finished off with a lovely cup of frothy, milky coffee.
I was too full for the chocolate cake and then I forgot to bring a piece home...Carol will deliver some tomorrow (she just em'd me)...Can't wait.  I will have room then!

The fellowship was wonderful and I do praise God for His goodness.

It was pouring with rain when I went down to Carol's at mid-day.  It has continued raining ever since.  Guess who got her scooter stuck in the mud outside Carol's home?... ::)...2 Gas men had to lift my little Rascal out. She was in a sad sorry state when I came home but I did a clever thing...I drove over to the corner and into the side road which has a nice big puddle and I washed Rascal's tyres.  Then I drove into the entry and dried her down.  Shes alright now.

Pushkin was fast asleep when I left home and was still asleep when I came in again. he's not happy with all this rain., also lots of fireworks are still going off. He's scared!  Stupid people who think Guy Fawkes is more than a one day  celebration.  Any excuse to make a noise and frighten people. Our U.K. government still refuses to strengthen the laws on sale of these dreadful things, despite much lobbying.  I think that the manufacturers pay a lot of tax to the exchequer. Each year more and more innocents are injured as a result of fireworks.

I think I will have a cup of tea now.

Hi Marilyn. :-*

Al.  Hello.  I did miss you. Glad you are back Pastor. This place isn't the same without you ;)

Good morning from the other Coos Bay-er :)  It's cold to me this morning!  brrrr...  It's a little after 9 AM, and I see lots of sunshine, so maybe it'll warm up later.   Of course our cold on the Oregon coast is quite different than inland and eastward cold.  ;D  We are quite spoiled here.  You just have to like the rain.

I tried to upload a picture of a couple of my little girls(puppies).  It said it uploaded but didn't show in my gallery.  I'll try again later.

Yesterday was so busy, I didn't even get in here.  We had a prayer meeting in the morning and then I had stuff to do here, lady came to look at puppies,  lots of phone calls,  etc.  The day just went so fast, and it seemed I was running to catch up.  My grandson is staying with me for awhile, so I wanted to spend time talkiing to him.  It was a good day, but a busy one.

Etta Sue.....It is so neat to see how close you and Ivalou are and how you love being together.

The last time I called my doctor's office, a couple of weeks ago, I think....they didn't have the vaccine.  I don't think they'd consider me a high risk, so I probably won't get the shot this year.  I just hope that those who don't get the shot will take care, and also be considerate to stay away from the public if they do begin to feel symptoms.  It seems that most just keep going, out and around everyone else, until they are too sick to do it. :)  Just my observation.  There seems to be a pride in keeping going, rather than a care for those they might expose. Oh, my.  That sounds so negative.  I don't mean it to be.  We just need to be careful.

Ok.  I'm ready for my second cup of coffee and some Scripture time.  Have a blessed day everyone.

                   Something to think on. :)

October 20

Failure and Success: Godliness Is Not Valued

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept
the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me
on that Day....
--2 Timothy 4:7-8

After more than thirty years of observing the religious scene I
have been forced to conclude that saintliness and church leadership
are not often synonymous....

Were the church a pure and Spirit-filled body, wholly led and
directed by spiritual considerations, certainly the purest and the
saintliest men and women would be the ones most appreciated and most
honored; but the opposite is true. Godliness is no longer valued,
except for the very old or the very dead. The saintly souls are
forgotten in the whirl of religious activity. The noisy, the self-
assertive, the entertaining are sought after and rewarded in every
way, with gifts, crowds, offerings and publicity. The Christlike,
the self-forgetting, the other-worldly are jostled aside to make
room for the latest converted playboy who is usually not too well
converted and still very much of a playboy....

The wise Christian will be content to wait for that day. In the
meantime, he will serve his generation in the will of God. If he
should be overlooked in the religious popularity contests he will
give it but small attention. He knows whom he is trying to please
and he is willing to let the world think what it will of him. He
will not be around much longer anyway, and where he is going men
will be known not by their Hooper rating but by the holiness of
their character.  Man: The Dwelling Place of God, 97-99.

"What a sad statement, Lord, that 'saintliness and church
leadership are not often synonymous.' Again we're forced to
recognize that if we serve You as You want, we may have to wait
for recognition. Help me today to focus on 'holiness of...
character' whether I'm valued by people or not. Amen."

In this morning’s paper there was an article saying they were still giving flu shots at the Public Health Center and the lines were not as long as they were earlier. So Cornelia and I jumped in the car and went down there. We found an easy place to park. We found the line and they really had it well organized. As we went through the line we filled out some papers, had our hand stamped, were given a number, then as we passed by some computers they registered us, we got our shots and got a receipt and were out of there within 45 minutes. So we don’t have to worry about flu shots until this time next year.

Good to see everyone today, Pat, Jane, Jenny, Kathy, Sarah, Ruth Ann, Al, Marilyn, Etta Sue, Nita, Chris, and Margit.

I have always liked to think about Paul’s thoughts concerning living or dying.  It gives us something to think about as we grow older.

Phil 1:20-24
20   I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
21   For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
22   If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!
23   I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;
24   but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.  (NIV)

I hope you ae having a good day.

--- Papa John          <;D)))><<

Happy Birthday,Eddie:

Marilyn - I see where you have applied for your Unemployment Insurance....does this mean that you are no longer employed?....or are you just going to work at a part-time level?

I have been absent from CP for a few days...perhaps I have missed something where you stated the above.

It was Remicade day for me yesterday.  Perhaps now, I will feel more energized.

Pat - did you have a good buying day at Costco?  We think that we may buy a membership to either Costco or Sam's....Is that what its called....the one in Cambridge? Makes me wonder though, how much we would use it, to make it worthwhile.

Not a lot new here....just thought I'd pop in to keep updated.

I'm off to watch the baseball now., and hope that Boston wins again!

Hello everyone!

Life is busy with the 4 kids.

Chandraya was recommended for the enrichment program from her teacher.  It is a special class for kids who are a little more advananced than the others.  She is excited.  She also is being bumped up to a higher class in dance.

Church is in 30 minutes so I better get going.  Hope you all have a wonderful even whether in church or at home.

That's great, Soni.  Our youngest son, Andrew, was put into the enriched program as well.  We didn't let him know back then though.  It was between the teacher and us.  Just so that he'd not say anything to the rest of the kids.  I'm happy for you.

Hi everyone.  Just a quick check in before heading to bed.  I have just now read through the postings since I posted yesterday.  We went to dinner at the church this evening, then to Vespers and finally to choir practice.

Happy Birthday, Fast Eddie.

I will try to get here earlier tomorrow and post a little more.

Hoo boy!  What a day I've had.  I went to Hugoton and to school to eat lunch with Abby.  She had been begging me to do that.  Then I spent the rest of the day at school, listening, watching, helping, and learning.  Boy, I do admire those teachers!  Abby has had wonderful teachers so far, and so loving, too.  They keep those little ones busy every minute, and Abby is reading really well already.  She read me 20 books during the afternoon and evening.  It is just amazing how hungry they are to learn and how fast they do it!

Then I stayed for church there, as the church here said they were going to meet with them, for the last night of their revival, but I was the only one from here who showed up!  :(  I don't know what the story is on that, yet.

Papa John, I am so glad you and Cornelia got your flu shots.  I sure wouldn't want either of you to have the flu.  Well, none of the rest of you here on CP either, of course.

Abby is here, and I need to get her into bed----again.  She keeps popping back out of it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FAST EDDIE!  AND MANY MORE!!

Talk to you tomorrow!
