Morning Devotional...[/b]

1 Cor. 5:7
[/color]

Do you have a Passover Lamb?[/b]

John 1:29-34

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward Him, and said, "Behold!  The Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world!  This is He of Whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man Who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water."  And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.  I did not know Him, but He Who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon Whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He Who baptizes with the Holy Spirit!’  And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God."

The work of John the Baptist was the work of a prophet. More specifically, his job was to "prepare the way of the Lord" â€" to make straight and easy the coming of the Lord Jesus to each heart in Israel. Adequate preparation of heart had to include honest admission of individual and personal rebellion against God.  So John’s task was to call men, women, and children to repentance.

Next to preparing people for the Messiah-King, John’s most important work was to identify Jesus when He came. So John  to pointed Him out to his disciples (and to us) as "the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world."  There’s still need for his work today.  We still need to have Him pointed out as Lord and Lamb.  Each of us needs first to recognize our sin, and then that Jesus is the Lamb of God Who takes away that sin.

Our recognition of Him needs to be very practical and very personal.  And each of us needs to ask  whether that identification has happened for us - whether we truly know Him as the Savior-Lamb.  In other words, our hearts, just as those of John’s day, need to be prepared by admission of our sinfulness, our rebellion, and our estrangement from God. Then we need to recognize Him as the Lamb Who has been sacrificed for us.  The most important question in all the world, then, is this: do you recognize Jesus as your Savior â€" the Lamb sacrificed for you?

Lamb of God! Our Souls Adore Thee
(Click to hear music)

Lamb of God! Our souls adore Thee
While upon Thy face we gaze;
There the Father's love and glory
Shine in all their brightest rays;
Thine almighty power and wisdom
All creation's works proclaim;
Heaven and earth alike confess Thee
As the ever great I AM.

Lamb of God! Thy Father's bosom
Ever was Thy dwelling place;
His delight, in Him rejoicing,
One with Him in power and grace;
Oh, that wondrous love and mercy!
Thou didst lay Thy glory by,
And for us didst come from heaven,
As the Lamb of God, to die!

Lamb of God! When we behold Thee
Lowly in the manger laid,
Wandering as a homeless stranger
In the world Thy hands had made;
When we see Thee in the garden,
In Thine agony of blood,
At Thy grace we are confounded,
Holy, spotless, Lamb of God!

When we see Thee, as the Victim,
Bound for us upon the tree,
For our guilt and folly stricken,
All our judgment born by Thee?
Lord, we own, with hearts adoring,
Thou hast loved us unto blood:
Glory, glory everlasting,
Be to Thee, Thou Lamb of God!

Jane and Soni and Pat ...yes we can be so proud of our gr. kids...also we can love them and be proud of them just for who they are. Blessings from God.

Hi, friends,

Al, thank you for the great devotional. As a child, my favorite Bible verse was "Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world."

G'mornin', Jenny. I believe Mahlia is to be scheduled for surgery, but it will not happen until her son returns from overseas before year end. Right now she's wearing a heart monitor for 30 days. So, she needs our prayers.

Leslie seems a bit better the last couple of days. I believe all the prayers going up on his behalf are making a difference.

Today my youngest is 32 years old - my, my, that was my age when she was born! How time flies. She serves as charge nurse on a bone marrow transplant unit at a large hospital.

Well, must go - y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann

I had her cremated and just got her home on Saturday.. I have to laugh because we have an African Grey, Alice and she has a very large vocabulary, every time I open the door she says PUP, PUP.. It brings back so many memories..

I have had all of you here in my thoughts and prayes even though I have been out awhile.. God Bless and Keep you.. Alma

Hi everyone.  We have another overcast and foggy morning here in the Atlanta area but it is suppose to burn off and be nice before the day is done.

I just got back from coffee a little while ago.  I have a doctor's appointment at 2 pm today to get the results of the biopsy I had done a week ago.  Don't have much else planned for the day.

Alma, glad to see you back posting.

Ruth Ann, glad to read that Leslie is doing better and do hope that continues.  Our son will have his 41st birthday next Monday.  We have been invited to go out to eat with he and his wife.  Originally Pat had offered to fix him a birthday meal but this is better as she won't have to do all of that cooking and preparation, which usually gets here down for a couple of days.

Jenny, your postings are always uplifting.  Hope it is getting a little warmer over your way.

Judy, hope your treatment will grant you a period of feeling better.  Pat and I just gave up our membership in Sam's as didn't feel we really got the cost of the membership back in savings for the items we purchased during the year.  You always have to buy in such large quantities and we have limited storage in this house.

Papa John, glad you and Cornelia were able to get the flu shots.  Neither of you need to be getting the flu.

Marilyn, hope you are getting some rest with the time off from your work.  At least it will be a change of pace.

Sonja, it sounds like Chandraya is a very talented little girl.

Janet, it is wonderful that you are able to attend Abby's school and I bet she will never forget those visits.  You had a full day.

Al, thanks for the devotional thoughts today.

Marilyn

Good Morning: Thanks you Al for the devotional today.

Ruth Ann I was 32 the years my youngest son was born, He is was 32 the 6th of this month.

Yes Judy you are correct I am no longer working, both of my clients are in thehospital, I don't get paid for the time they are away from home. I do have one private pay client on Thursdays for 3 hours.

Alma, hang in there sis, your heart will heal in time, I know that may sound so shallow but we have all lost our pets and know the hurt that takes so long to heal.

Hello Again folks...

I have just been down the road on my jallopy  ;D nearly got blown away Larry.  It is pouring with rain again and blowing a force 10 gale.  Gosh that hill.  My scooter kept stopping. She doesnt like the wind!

Larry  Thinking of you.  Let us know how things go re your results please. I am so glad you enjoy Vespers.  So do I.  It is not said so much over here now...all the new form of service.  A few Anglican churches still use the Old Prayer Book., although I realise we must move with the times, some of use are still blessed by the old ways.

Alma.  I too know how you feel. I will always miss my dear pals, but I do thank god for His goodness in giving us our pets.  They are such blessings to us.

Hi Marilyn. Just make the most of this "watershed" sis.

Hi Nards...and Karma.  Hope Karma is keeping alright.

Bye all.
Jenny.

Papa John

Judy Mc, thanks for your compliment.  My preaching is limited these days.  I still make a talk from time to time or teach a class.  When I retired it was hard to sit back and listen to others preach but now I am used to it.

And thank you Jenny.  We had decided if we didn’t get the shots it would be all right.  We have been fortunate to have good medical care and of course the prayers of so many which is more important than anything else.

Al, thank you for the devotional.

Rev 12:10-11  Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.  They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.  (NIV)

Ruth Ann, I am glad Leslie seems to be making some improvement.  Many have been praying for him.

Alma, it is good to see you today.  Only those who have lost a pet can understand the love one has and the sorrow which comes when they pass away.

Nards, it is good that can stop in.  I hope things are going well at your house.

Every morning when we wake up to a new day we can thank God for life and for the blessings of that day.

Ps 5:1-3  Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing.  Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.  In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.  (NIV)

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Small groups was great last night.  I am amazed that reading "The Purpose Driven Life" again seems all new to me.  I really feel that our group is very helpful and compassionate to others.  We all are learning His Word.

I don't know if you would call 'Shall We Dance?' a chick flick or not.  I just call it a 'feel good' movie.  There were some men at the movie but also most matinee showings are women.
This is what the movie is about....

Directed by Peter Chelsom, this film is the English-language remake of Masayuki Suo's 1995 romantic comedy of the same name; the Japanese version earned a record-breaking 9.5 million dollars in United States box offices. Shall We Dance? revolves around John Clark (Richard Gere), a workaholic Chicago lawyer who, despite a respectable paycheck and loving family, is unable to shake the feeling that something in his life is missing. On a whim, John disrupts his normal evening commute to attend a dance class in hopes of meeting Paulina (Jennifer Lopez), a beautiful dance teacher he would occasionally spot gazing out of the studio windows. Though Paulina quickly lays to rest any preconceived romantic notions John may have had about her, she nonetheless forms a bond with him that goes beyond those normally held by a teacher and student. Invigorated with his new hobby, John focuses his newfound enthusiasm into training for an upcoming dance competition; however, he chooses not to let his wife (Susan Sarandon) in on his plans. Unaware that dance may be, in fact, saving her marriage, John's wife becomes suspicious of all the time he spends away from home and hires a private investigator to find out whether or not her husband is having an affair. Ultimately, John is forced to examine how his old dreams fit in to his new life. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide

It was a great movie, in my honest opinion!

Well, it is suppose to be sunny but it isn't.  I am tempted to mulch some leaves after lunch anyway!!  I need to do something.  All I see is leaves when I look at my yard. [/b]

Hello everyone!!  Remember me?  Sorry to have been scarce recently.  It seems that I have been running in 80 directions at once.  I decided today that I was staying home and cleaning house (not that you can tell at this point).

I am feeling fine, though a bit tired.  I have a routine drs appointment tomorrow with an ultrasound, so that should be fun.  Then, it is a busy busy weekend at a Mary Kay retreat.

I hope all is going well.  IF I can get the TAS down to sleep in the next few minutes (and if I don't fall asleep as well) I'll try to get caught up on the readings!!

Oh yea, thanks to all of you for the birthday greetings last week.  They were much appreciated.

Etta Sue.
Thanks for the review of "Shall we Dance."  I read about it only yesterday and thought how much I would like to see it.  Now I must see it....will have to try for the DVD or video, my cinema going days have gone. Richard Gere I like, Jennifer Lopez I like, Susan Sarandon I like. What a brilliant mix of talent.

Nites all.
God Bless.

Like Nards, I am running through to say hello!  Busy day with Abby and my class, now must dress to go to a dinner with Darrel.  Our "financial guru" as Darrel calls him, has invited us to some kind of informational dinner meeting tonight.  I have to feed Abby first, then she is going over to take care of Beth while we are away.  She went over this morning and helped Aunt Beth with a lot of little things.  Kids love to be helpful, and when you can't get around, those young little legs are a blessing!

Hello to all of you, and see you later!

Hi everyone.

This has not been my best day as the doctor had some unpleasant news for me this afternoon.  I do have prostate cancer, although it appears to be at an early stage.  So next Tuesday I have an appointment with the oncologist to discuss potential treatment options or the option of doing nothing.  This probably means that I will not be able to further consider a heart transplant as you can't have a major disease and I would have to be free of the cancer for probably 2 years before I could even start the qualification process and by then would be pushing the age limit.  I am just not going to worry about all of this and will make it a matter of prayer.  I will  take things  one day at a time as I know the Lord does not burden us with more than we can bear.

Karma, nice to see you posting and know that you are doing well.

Marilyn, I will check out your new posting regarding Gloria.

I have read all the postings since I posted this morning but am not going to try to reply to everyone today.  See you all online tomorrow.

Larry,   my Dad had prostate cancer when he was 74.  I found this out after he died.  They say to do nothing because it is slow growing, but they don't tell you the cancer goes into other parts especially the bones.  My Dad was 88 1/2 when he died but he suffered for a long time with bone cancer and aching in his legs.   If I knew what I know now, I would suggest that something be done about prostate cancer.  Either have it cleaned or something.   A man came into my work and he was happy to say that he had the prostate out, because he had cancer.

I will be praying for you that God will help you to make the right decision Larry.

God bless
