Morning Devotional...And Saul arose from the earth. Acts 9:8
Paul, formerly Saul of Tarsus, had been smitten with blindness by the blazing glory of the once crucified, but now risen Christ.
He thought the Lord Jesus Christ was at that moment cold in death in a borrowed grave, but His glory and voice proved otherwise. Paul heard and responded to the voice and "rose up from the earth."
If we are going to effectively serve the Lord, we must rise up and disassociate ourselves from the earth and all its defiling influences to serve the Lord in purity and love.

Create in me a clean heart,
O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10
Author: Charles Wesley, 1707-1788
Musician: James J. Walch, 1837-1901
O for a heart to praise my God,
A heart from sin set free,
A heart that always feels Thy blood
So freely shed for me.
A heart resigned, submissive, meek,
My great Redeemer's throne,
Where only Christ is heard to speak,
Where Jesus reigns alone.
A humble, lowly, contrite, heart,
Believing, true and clean,
Which neither life nor death can part
From Christ who dwells within.
A heart in every thought renewed
And full of love divine,
Perfect and right and pure and good,
A copy, Lord, of Thine.
My heart, Thou know'st, can never rest
Till Thou create my peace;
Till of mine Eden repossest,
From self, and sin, I cease.
Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart;
Come quickly from above;
Write Thy new name upon my heart,
Thy new, best name of Love.
;D 8) Oops sorry Pat! hehehe...how often does that happen? LOL
I got back from dance around 9:30pm. We are now 1:20 sec into our jazz dance. I think we have another minute to go and we'll have it down. woohoo.
We haven't started our dance in tap yet...still teaching the others some important steps in tap. We had a great time. We always have a great time.
I am a bit tuckered out, but it feels good. ;D
I want to thank everyone who wished Chandraya a happy birthday. I will let her see them all again tomorrow.
Tonight she said "Mom, I am a special gift from God, right?" I said "yes" She said, "Did I come in a pretty package!?" I laughed and told her she came from my belly. It was so cute.
Rachelle~ I have 4 kids also. 14, 12 , 5 and 1 1/2. The two older ones are boys and the two younger of course would be girls. hehehe ::) We live in Wyoming. I have been homeschooling my kids since they were in preschool. They did go to school for a year but we didn't like the whole public school thing. The kids seem to enjoy it. I normally use Abeka books but this year I am using the stuff off the internet. I got an excellent book at the bookstore. It gives me names of websites to browse and find lessons for each subject. It is working out pretty good. I have been printing quite a bit of pages.
I can't wait to see some pictures of your little ones.

Sonifo I can relate to the public school thing. Melaura is 13 in December and has decided to go to highschool. I am concerned but as a friend puts it I can talk her through some of the peer pressure stuff and help her through. As out Pastor puts it she has her "thing" that sets her apart from the crowd and that will keep her going. Her "thing" is the Air Cadet Corps. I would appreciate some of those web sites though for this year.
Pat I love that hymn. The devotional is a good one too. We are getting a lot of discussion on the devotionals, I enjoy that, it gets us all thinking deeper than we would otherwise.
Well I am for bed
Night all
JudyB
I love that, Sonja. Such a cute little dancer!
(I might lift him for our site!) LOL
Well, I'll chat with you all in the morning and then I'm leaving for Toronto.
Ruthie and I are going out for supper tomorrow night. I'm really looking forward to it. Some time back I spoke about the Mizos from Mizoram in India. Our father drove them for several years in North America as they sang from church to church and then the last year, I drove them to New York and then Dad and I went to return the bus to Norfolk, VA.
Anyway, the evangelist who travels with the choir phoned me and he wanted to let me know that every day he prays for me--especially since Jack's death. We're having supper with him tomorrow night.
So, it will be very late when I get home from Toronto.
I'll talk to you all in the morning.

I'd especially love to hear your thoughts on this part of the devotional today. What does it mean to "rise up and disassociate ourselves from the earth...." ??
I'm looking forward to your thoughts.
Pat say Hello to him from me as well. I met him once at Dad's and had an enjoyable visit.
Have a good trip, and "Drive Safe"

Pat as I read today's devotional I thought of the verse Romans 12:1,2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
I believe scripture explains scripture, when we are not conformed We then have freedom to do and be exactly what our Lord wants us to be, without the restraint of man made laws and conditions. All things that are not against out civil law are legal, and God lets us know how to judge if our actions and activities are prudent.
9 a.m.
Thank-You Pat for the food for thought again today.
I also love that hymn! I think the old ones are the best...and not sour grapes, they are.
Your devotional set me thinking..."The first Adam was of the earth"...a created being.....The second Adam was the Man from Heaven, JESUS CHRIST.....He is the "lifter up" of ALL THINGS.
"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive"......"sown in dishonour, raised in Glory"....1 COR 15:22,45.
Adam was of the earth, just like us....fleshly!
By the Grace of God, we are lifted up by Jesus and given New Life in the Here and Now in order that we may serve HIM.....not to sit in Holy huddles, dreaming of heavenly spires. WE CAN BE SO HEAVENLY MINDED THAT WE ARE OF NO EARTHLY GOOD!
This mortal flesh is very weak. I need Jesus daily to lift me up from "earthly" and to give me a fresh anointing so that I may serve Him more usefully.
:) :) :) :) :)
God bless you all today and always.
Special prayers for IAIN AND PAPA JOHN.
Love Jenny.
THE FIGHT
A group of children were playing together. Their game became more and more boisterous. Before long, tempers became frayed and an argument started.
Each thought he was right and refused to yield ground to the others. When they returned home, each child looked battered and bruised.
"Just like children - always arguing!" said one mother.
"You wretched child, look at the state of you" said another.
"I hope you gave as good as you got" said one father.
"Don't let anyone get the better of you" said another.
THEN...............
ONE WISE FATHER SAID,
"CHILD FORGIVE"
.............
Colin Urquhart wrote the above.
I pray for all children that do not have wise parents.....
May we learn to love and nurture them, even though sometimes they come to us as adults with stunted growth......Merciful Father, In Jesus' Name. AMEN!

A comment about the devotional: my parents tried hard to teach me to keep my feet on the ground - to realize that while I'm IN the world, I certainly don't have to be PART OF it as far as habits, thoughts, and actions are concerned - for that, I should be "other-worldly."
About having children, Sonya and Rachelle, I'm also mother to 4 - 3 boys and a girl. But, I'm probably old enough to be YOUR mom - my baby's 31st birthday was Tuesday.
I'm here early this morning, in an hour I'll be at the airport to fly to meet a client. Hopefully the meeting will be short with opportunity to return on the 4:15 flight back this afternoon.
My prayer is that everyone have a good day today. Mieka, my friend, I'm especially praying for you.

:) :)
Hello and Good Morning to all! I have been working, working, working.....not much time for playing on the computer...but all of you have been in my prayers as the list is right here at my home desk where I read and study my Bible.
The hymn may be old..but new to me. Guess we country Baptists don't have all the old Wesley hymns. I went back an re-read it a couple of times to get the whole feeling. The verse that
Pat asks about:
When I disassociate myself from the earth...I think of not being a part of the things here on earth (Satan's stomping ground). Anything that would not glorify my God is "off limits" and Romans 12:1-2 that
Judy B found is perfect to explain it!
To all of you. I pray a great day in the LORD!
;)
Good morning everyone!
I am up early. Zachery has to be at the hospital at 8:00am to get blood work done and another remicate infussion. <yawn>
I will come back in to give my thoughts on the message today later.
Hope you all have a good day!
Sonja
Jesus said "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto Me."
My primary goal should be to follow Jesus.
If I lift Jesus up, and follow Him, I will be raised above the "earth" that so easily confounds my Christian walk. However, only He can give me the strength required to lift Him up and to follow Him. If I attempt to "rise above the earth" (disassociate myself) in my own strength, I will only crash and fall on my face. Separation is useless unless done in the strength of the Holy Spirit.
Separation is intended on a purely spiritual level. Jesus was very often found in the middle of a huge group of people. He dined with sinners. He walked among the sick, offering healing and love. He fed 5000 rather than send them home. Did this mean he wasn't "separated"? No, far from it.
I should never shy from the homeless, the downtrodden, the drug dealers, the prostitutes, or the hateful simply because I am more spiritual than they. No, far from it. Jesus' command was to go into all the world - not just the parts that are already clean and holy.
My motives are to be pure. My actions are to be right. My love is to be real. But never am I allowed to put myself on a pedestal of holiness; Jesus said "There is none good, no not one." Somehow I still want to believe that I can be good, somehow I still want to sometimes think that I AM good. Hogwash. There is nothing good about me; without Jesus' blood covering my sins I am nothing but another rebellious reject on my way to hell. Any thought that I can elevate myself "above" worldly things in my own strength is simply an abomination in the eyes of God.
I cannot rise above the world in my own strength any more than I will be able to raise myself from the dead; it falls my lot simply to follow Jesus. He can raise my life into the realms of holiness, and He will raise my body from the death that will someday claim it.
We must make a daily choice to follow Jesus and His ways, and the separation will not be our job. He will take care of that.
Just a slightly different perspective... :)
Love you guys!
Good morning! :)
I have worked extra hours for the past couple of days... today is my day off from work... so that I can work at home! ::)
Backed up on laundry, and .. well, everything. So, I just wanted to share a hello before I get started.
It is snowing here :(
The kids enjoyed it per usual. They were trying to catch the flakes on their tounges on the way to school.
disassociate ourselves from the earth? Hmm. Perhaps it is a complete dedication. Don't get so wrapped up in the material things. Feed your spirit instead.
I like to have certain things.. in particular my computer and digital camera. But, deep down, I know this is all "fluff", to entertain me while I am here on Earth. I could think that maybe some of my photographs could serve to remind people of hope, beauty, and happy times. But, in the end, this is all "fluff". Someday I will be with the Lord in Heaven, and all of this will mean nothing.
Hello all!! Wow, I'm barely out of bed and this is already on page two!
SNOW!!! :o WooHOo! Did you hear that Nards? I love snow!!!
I think we are to be in the world, but not of the world. If I totally disassociate myself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually from those around me, I am breaking the part of the great commandment -- Loving my neighbors as myself. If it had said to love my church members or family as myself, I think non-Christians would be excluded. But it says neighbors, indicating to me, everyman.
I need to rely on my relationship with Jesus to show that I am different, not separation from those around me.
A very thought-provoking devotional this morning! I agree that while we are in the world, we are not to be of the world. To me, this speaks of what is going on in our minds. While we have to take care of the everyday things around us; we can keep our minds stayed on the Lord, trying always to maintain that vital connection with Him. My beloved pastor used to tell us often "You need to think about what you're thinking about!"
By this, he meant that thoughts become actions! One illustration was divorce. If you think, every time you have a disagreement with your spouse (read fight), I don't have to put up with this! I'll just get a divorce! Then that is exactly where you are heading. But if you think "How can I solve this? What does the Word say? How can I handle this better the next time? Am I in the wrong here?" then most likely you will stay married and work consistently to build a better and better relationship with your spouse. He gave us many other examples as well. Another preacher said it like this "You gotta keep your head in the game!"
Pat, have a wonderful time tonight visiting with your friends.......and Ruthie, too!
Hi, Liz, Ruth Ann, Rachelle, Karma, KarenB, Nards, Sonja, Kathy, Ria, Jenny, JudyB, and the rest of you, too! (Those are the ones who have posted on this page!) It is always good to come here for a little visit with you each morning. God bless!
Hi everyone. This has been a busy place already this morning and very interesting discussion on the devotional message. I think my thoughts on the subject have already been adequately expressed.
I have nothing pressing on my schedule today so will take things easy (which I usually do anyway ::)). Pat will go to her quilting group at church this afternoon. They are making neck pillows to be used by our parish nurse as she calls on folks in the hospital or who are ill. When my father was so ill in the hospital one day I had one of these pillows with me and I gave it to him to use. He never relinquished it as it gave him a great deal of comfort. I think over the time he was hospitalized and then in the nursing home Pat made about 6 of these for him. One of them also served as support for his leg stump after having his amputation above the knee.
Papa John, good to see you posting and to know that you feel you are gaining strength as the days pass.
Going to make this short today.
P.S., Janet you were posting as I was writing and what you said about divorce reminds me of something I read many, many years ago in Reader's Digest. Basically it said that when a couple is experiencing problems, never verbalize the word divorce in an argument as this often sets in motion events that are very difficult to back away from. I believe there is a lot of wisdom in that advice. I am also reminded of a Masonic teaching that "if you cannot speak well of a person you can at least remain silent".
Joyfulhrt -- I don't think I formally welcomed you. WELCOME!
I am not an official homeschooler, though I do home preschool my 21 month old son. ;)
I also work with homeschoolers a great deal as I tutor and teach small classes to supplement areas where the parents don't feel as comfortable. I also provide the annual testing that our state requires.
You've (and the other homeschoolers on here) have chosen a great path. Way to go!
Good Morning everyone. Good afternoon to you folks on the other side of the pond!
We have a nice sunny day here in the north, cold +2* centigrade. Still the sun surely lifts your spirits.
Ria you have asked how to convert your temperature into farignheit. Well multiply the temp times 9 (2 X 9 =18) then take the answer and divide that number by 5. (18 Divided by 5 is 3.6) then if the temperature is above 0 you add 32, so today's temp is 35.6* F if it is -0 you would subtract the mumber from 32. (32-3.6=28.4*F). Is that as clear as mud? A point to remember is that 0*C =32*F and 16*C = 61*F and
-40*C = -40* F.
JudyB
You have all expressed my thoughts on todays devotional. The only thing I can add is that it reminds me of our Bible Study of the last three weeks title. Which is, "Living Right in a wrong world", with the text being Psalm 119:116-130.
I don't have time to go into any detail this morning as I have to go to work soon and still need to get ready to go, stop and the bank and store on my way over to Bea's house in Arcata.
A special hello to Karen B and Rachelle. Good to see you here today. Jenny So glad to see you posting today. Are you feeling better?
Gotta run now TTYL
Karen WOW snow already! we have had a skif of snow a couple of mornings bur nothing serious. Please don't send it this way.
You folks will never hear me complain about the heat or humidity of summer. But come winter I am a crybaby. I really dislike winter and have a real hard time handling the cold. I love looking at it, but being IN it is rough on the old bod. I will someday make a good snowbird.! The word snow is a four letter word LOL
Well Karen have a productive day, but make sure you get enough rest too. we don't want to see you overdo it. OK?
JudyB
Judy B we will have this night -3*C is that also -3*F???
and in the east of Holland we are living in The North
there can fall a little bit snow. That is happening never in oktobre
Love RIA :)
My, My, My .... already quite a crowd in here this morning! That's great!! :D I'll just grab a cup of coffee and sit over here by the window while y'all continue your conversation. (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.webpost.net%2Fhi%2FHisOwn%2Fcoffeeanim.gif&hash=d982ba7557f0561ad89521c41331606289fa29dc)
I will say, most heartily, that I agree with Nards discussion of the devotional ... and so many of the others have echoed the same sentiments. I still maintain that it's Christ IN you the hope of glory ... we can do nothing...nothing...nothing...of ourselves, it is all about HIM! In fact, the moment we try to do something to be Christlike that's the moment we fail! I need to stay out of the way and let His life and Light be seen in and through me. Oops, didn't mean to preach here. :-[
I am sooo happy to see JENNY here this morning! I hope you are feeling much better today, and will continue on the upswing of good health and vitality as the Lord blesses.
Well, hey! I am happy to see all y'all here too...it's just that Jenny's been sick these past few days and unable to meet with us. :-[ I have no intention to try to name everyone cuz I'd for sure leave someone out and that would be most disasterous! :o
I need to get around and prepare for the women's group that will be meeting here this afternoon. So... I'll be back as I can manage it. Until next time... (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.thirdage.com%2FFamily%2Ffren2him%2Fjanequil.gif&hash=1cff0b4fb8fb70b6a3977e0a701fe2038b9eecd6)
Dissociation - the most needed thing in the Christian life! It's also one of the hard things. It's attitude - not necessarily actions - that make the difference. Christ needs to be at the center of our focus in life, and that's an attitude. I can have that attitude even when I'm in the midst of the world, and I can therefore be dissociated, though I'm surrounded with people who don't have any love for my Lord. It shouldn't necessarily make me separate from them, but neither can I do things for the same reason they do them. And, because of that attitude, there are things I won't be able to do with them.
Oh Father, give me always a purity of attitude, and let me be directed by it.
What terrific thoughts so far in here! I'm going to have a great time reading all of your posts later on tonight when I get home from Toronto.
Here's today's news on little Cecilia...

I see there are a lot of others having to scroll left and right to read the pages. This seems to be just SOME pages. But very annoying and has a tendency to make one dizzy...as Marilyn said. I had my Text size...View/Text Size as Largest because I have a small screen. When I changed it back to Medium, I didn't have to scroll L to R but I needed a magnifying glass..... ???
How are we to bring others to God without associating with ungodly people? Jesus wants all God's children to come into the fold. God wants to be in
every activity, every conversation, every problem, and even every thought of ours. He wants constant conversation from us. He wants us to have continual meditation. Meditation is simply focused thinking. When you think about God's Word over and over in your mind, that's meditation. You have to be honest with God. In the Bible, God's friends were honest about their feelings and often complained, second-guessed, accused and argued with God. He wasn't bothered by that...in fact, it seemed he encouraged it. David, Jeremiah, Job and Moses all were honest with their feeling and told them to God. We are friends with God if we do what he commands. We are not his equal. He is our loving leader and we follow him. We obey God because we love him.
When we know what God values then we choose to value what He values. He wants all his lost children found. Friends of God tells their friends about God. We must desire His friendship more than anything else. We need to love the Lord our God with all our hearts and with all our souls and with all our minds and with all your strength. If we do all of that then we have to go out into the ungodly world to do God's will. We can't disassociate (separate) ourselves because God commands us to love our neighbors....and that means everyone!!! That doesn't mean we are to do as
they do. It means we are to
show them the way.
Ivalou is returning from Ohio today. She may be home now...I don't know. But we are going for lunch and maybe get one of her Grandsons so he can stay with her for a few days. He goes to public school but has school year round. This is his 'vacation' from school right now. His older sister is closing on her new home so the parents need to concentrate on getting her moved into her new home. Ivalou just called ..... she is home.
Gotta go!

On another note, Pat, I haven't been able to upload my lessons to Homestead....I can't seem to do any changes to my webpage. Homestead is working with me on it but it isn't fixed yet. Your work is great. I never did get the Quilted Frame thing done. Seems something is missing. Will try it later.

Quote"I'd especially love to hear your thoughts on this part of the devotional today. What does it mean to "rise up and disassociate ourselves from the earth...." ??
Pat, I believe you've brought-up the most challenging command in the Bible from our Lord. The comments and heart felt beliefs from others in this forum have come from people who walk with the Lord and are trying their best to honor Him. I've learned from what their hearts are saying. Please bare with me while I give another perspective.
I believe that a Christian must be out of the circle of the world, and should be seen as being someone the world wants nothing to do with. We are set apart from the world by God, because we are 'Followers" of the Lord, a person the world hates. If we are [one of the guys] of this world, we are NOT seperated from them. This does not mean that we should not be setting an example of who we are and who we represent. Never let it be said, but we
must always move about the world as the children of God. In so doing, we must do all we can to evangelize those about us because they are lost and are going to hell.
Take the church for instance. Some obey the commands of God and
"preach the Word", while others disregard the gospels and want to bring people in to entertain them. Sunday services is
not for entertainment, it is for Christians to worship through singing, prayer, and sound doctrine. The church today has many false teachers, and their congregations are hearing things of man, and little of the Lord Jesus Christ.
NO I am not, nor do I believe in legalism, but I do believe in God's holy Word without the worlds influencing it with man's partial truths. A half truth is nothing other than a lie. The world does not belong in the church, but we belong
IN the world, preaching His truths. I ask, don't love me because I'm like you. Love me because you want to be like me, because I am a follower of Jesus Christ. That's a tough road for all Christians to follow. All passenger ships are on a journey. I want only to be a ship used of God to gather passengers on my journey through life.
I apologize for the quotes, but I haven't the time to try and fix it.
Fixed it, Lee!
What powerful responses to Pat's question.
I am just going to sit by and re-read the postings; Nard, Al , Lee what great insight.
This surely is a personal feeling among us all; look at the other responses each so well thought out and posted.
You are lifting my spirits today with your postings.
thank you all,
Take care and as always,
Love in CHrist,

Hi Pat........I'm home for a few minutes and read the devotional. You asked what "rise up from the earth" means. Remember Saul was smitten and fell down to the earth. When he got up there was a big change in him. Later his name was changed to Paul. I believe it means to forget the world (earth) and the things of the world (earth) and be fully devoted to Jesus Christ and He will make a big change in your life and you will walk upright with Him, the Master. Only then will we be used of God as we allow Him to change us and walk with Him. The bible says "We are IN the world, but not OF the world.
That is my understanding.
Love Ruthie
Hi Lee.....after posting, I read your post and yours and mine are similar. I believe we are both on track. What do you think?
God bless
Ruthie
Pat..........
There's your "Lead". My heart jumped, then saddened when I read in the article........."while police examined the modest three-story house, which has basement rooms rented to students at a nearby college.'
That's the hottest lead the police have, and you know for certain they are digging into the whereabouts of every student that ever lived with them, including those who may still be there. Live-in students know (knew) the families every move, and they KNOW the house. There is another "lead", and that's associates of students who didn't lived there, but learned of the girl, family wealth, etc. I'd say the trail is very warm. PLease understand, this is only "Lead" talk. The trail could go anywhere.
Ruthie.........
You bet we are. And, we all know that Paul was a hated man wherever he went. However, Paul was the greatest of evangelist, and still is. Even though Paul was hated, those whom the Lord called (Those who heard Him) heard Paul, and are still jumping on board his ship. The worldly have "Jumped Ship" and will sink into the Lake of Fire. I love a phrase Paul used for all Christians........"Hold Fast". Our Lord doesn't ask us to bring our baggage with us. In fact, He asks us to throw away ALL of our old baggage and to come as we are.
Ria...........
Listen young lady, your writings are beautiful and your heart always comes through. I may never get to Holland to give you a big hug and Christian kiss, but I will in eternity. :-*
To whomever..........
Thanks for cleaning-up my post. ;)
For golfers.........
Something funny happened yesterday at the golf course. I went out as a single and was teamed-up with a fella I didn't know. As we played I asked him where he lived and he told me Sagle, Idaho. I replied: "Hey, I go to church in Sagle on Gun Club Rd." He said he has seen it but doesn't go to a church, but he and a few of his friends had put together a home church where they worship. I asked what do they teach there? He said he has spoken many times before the group, and doesn't have any particular religious faith. He said they have had many different speakers; one a Catholic priest, a Rabbi, a Monk, and a couple Buddist, and a minister. I thought: This poor guy needs the Lord. I told him that our church is small and that our pastor not only is loving, but he really teaches the Bible as God had it written. A couple holes later I was standing over my ball getting ready to make an easy put of three feet. Just as I brought my putter back to make the forward stroke (my playing partner no more than four feet to my left) gave out with a loud HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. HAHAHAHA, I missed the putt. He put a curse on it ;D ;D
Ria
-3 times 9 is 27 divided by 5 is 5.4 take that away from 32 and what you got? 26.6*F. That is cold dear. I don't like the cold. Here is Canada we have our temperature readings in celcius also but the United States read temperature in Farignheit. We changed over after I had finished school and still think in Farignheit.
Hope that helps.
Love Judy
Nards and Lee I love your responses to todays devotional. I found it to be similar to what I was trying to say last night, (er this morning). We are not to be conformed but transformed......
Thankyou for the insight.
I just got the news that John will be home today. That is great as he has requested Sunday off and that means that we will have a few days to get wood in for the winter. It is always good to have him home.
Looks like we may have snow before the day is out. Our bright sunny skys have changed to overcast and heavy. Well This is the day the Lord has made. I WILL rejoice and be glad.....
till later
JudyB
Sonja,

Hi Everyone again
Karmat its nice to meet you..
I am excited today-last week I joined weight watchers and weighed in this morning. I lost 4.4 lbs..Yippeee
Jumping for Joy!
Just wanted to share my good news ;D
Hello to all of my new friends.
Lee I am still laughing at the golf story. Did you ever find out what the Hummmmmmmmm meant? Was it cause he was thinking about what you said? It would be good to know that he is thinking.
It is Just +4 with the sun on the thermometer. The girls have gone to pick up the mail, and as they were leaving they were griping that it was cold. They willingly left though so the fresh air will do them good.
They have finished school for the day and have chosen to do some of the "fun" subjects like health and more science. They have cut and pasting to do in health, cutting out foods to go with the vitamins and minerals.
Till later.
JudyB
I really enjoyed reading through the various thoughts on Pat's devotional today.
Nards656 - truly uplifted by your thoughts bro. keep them coming. I like your photo!
'Dad at work!'
There was a special Christian man living on our Island a number of years ago and he was called 'Happy Norman.' His personal Christian witness was quite remarkable and there is no doubt that he had a 'special' relationship with His Saviour.
He always had a word for ther lost and a word of encouragement for his brothers and sisters in Christ. He was loved and held with a special affection by both young and old, though he had a few critics.
One such critic wrote of Norman, 'he was too heavenly minded to be of any earthly use.!
I truly wish that I was more heavenly minded than what I am. If manna falls my way in the morning then I will gladly share it with you.
Great to see you Jenny, hope you are getting over your bug.
Ria - dear sis, your English is better than mine! You are an 'English Maestro' now!
Joyfulhrt - Welcome sis to you and your family. I would recommend Dell machines to anyone who asks me. I still have work to do on mine but I am getting there!
I do not want to speak too soon!
Take care folks and God bless you all.
Your brother in Christ
Iain

Hi to all of you today! Just a short note to let you know that I will be back soon; after numerous tests, they have decided that I have fluid build up in my eye, and, as I re-absorb that fluid, my vision will returen, Praises and Thanks to our Lord! I so thansk all of you for your prayers; my husband does read some of the posts to me, but he has no time to do them all. I hope I have not made too many mistakes, and I will be back soon! I love all of you, and wish you a blessed day!
Love in Him,
Cami

If we are going to effectively serve the Lord, we must rise up and disassociate ourselves from the earth and all its defiling influences to serve the Lord in purity and love.
I'd especially love to hear your thoughts on this part of the devotional today. What does it mean to "rise up and disassociate ourselves from the earth...." ??
I'm looking forward to your thoughts.
I know there are some religions that don't believe people should dance. And my photography, I really love. Is that something of this earth? I really enjoy these things and if I didn't have them I would go crazy. I really don't think God minds that I love and enjoy these hobbies as long as I don't put him on the back burner.
Hi Cami! Good to hear you are doing better and will recover. :D
Sonya
This is the liberty we have in Jesus Christ. We are not under the law but under Grace. Because of His Grace we have freedom to do things that are different from others. You see as long as we obey His KNOWN (in the Bible) will then we can work on knowing his unknown will. If you have a clear pathway of communication between you and your Saviour then who is anyone else to say what you do is wrong. Your Photo's glorify God, as you show His creation. You dance before God in the joy he has given. What is wrong with that? I have a phrase that I use a lot. Other's may I may not. There are things you may do, that I may have a problem with. The activity is not the problem it is what we do with the activity. The warning I receive is Do not touch.... I know it is God's voice. So keep the communion open and go where he leads.
I love you sis.

Sonja: Did I read correctly - is Zachery having "Remicade" infusions? If so for what?
Reason I ask i, because this is what I have, every 6 weeks., for me its because I have R.A. I'm wondering if Zachery has that or Crohns'.
Hope you don't mind me asking.,

Yes, Zachery has Crohnes disease and colitis. He has to have this done every 6 weeks. This is his 4th infusion. He did very well today. Didn't have a reaction so we are looking good. Just hope it helps this time. Thanks for your consern. :D He also has arthitis but is doing much better after going to phys. therapy.
Here I am at Ruthie's house in Toronto. Boy! The traffic is terrible on the 401 today. It took me just over 2 hours to get here! We're leaving soon to go to the restaurant for supper.
I'll be back later.
CONGRATULATIONS

Talk to you later...
Just poppin' in to say "HI!" I probably should take this time to be doing that housework thing, since Capt. Destructo is taking a nap. I had it fairly straight, but then he went through again. ;) I keep telling myself someday I will miss the cheerios and raisins on the floor, the toys everywhere, the sippy cups everywhere,e tc. etc.
He really is a doll. Just a messy one. :P
Rachelle -- I, too, am a member of WW (sortof -- I pay money to them every month ::)). I lost 4 or 5 pounds the first week, gained two the second, then lost one or two each week for about 4 months. With the exception of a pound or two, I have kept it off for 8 months now. I keep telling myself I will start back, adn I need to. Maybe we can encourage each other.
hey ya'll
I've been looking in since i got home been busy with house work, meetings, practices, and lots of other stuff ??? during basketball i rolled my ankle which wasn't fun b/c now it's going to swell agian :-\ it wasn't too bad i was still able to run!i don't know if that was a good thing or bad!so anyways i'm here just not talkitive like ya'll are!
Sarah
Karmat I would love to encourage one another in the weight loss struggle..I am going to really try and do good this week-it isnt an easy road to walk-but through Christ we can do all things..He is our strength..

Sonja ~ I am with JudyB...The activity is not the problem it is what we do with the activity. I think of two women with a bathing suit on. One is vulgar, the other isn't. It isn't the bathing suit...it is the actions in the bathing suit. Same as movies...one sees negative views, another sees positive views. TV...same thing. Even churches. One has contemporary music, another has old hymns. It is all in where our hearts are. And who is in our hearts.
I have two left feet and I can't carry a tune in a bucket but I love to watch people dancing and listen to people sing. BTW, we had a high school student that danced lyric ballet to Christian music during worship hour sometimes. It was mesmerizing. She is now in England doing missionary work. Maybe if I had become a Christian many years ago, I wouldn't agree with dancing in church but I do.
Thank you, Ria, for putting me in the same class as Nard with our posts this morning. I really appreciate that. Very encouraging. I consider myself still in primary school learning the Word of God since I am still a new Christian. I was baptized March 14, 1998, on my mother's 85th birthday.
Ivalou and I went to the China Buffet. Then we stopped by where she got her cell phone. We are both illiterate in operating it so she asked the guy a few questions and now she knows what to do. Then we went to her son's house to get Parker. He is going to stay with Ivalou through Sunday. Like Ivalou says...someday he will think he is too big to spend time with Grandma so she is going to enjoy him while she can. We stopped at the grocery to get somethings for Parker to eat. I do believe he picked out a lot of stuff that his own Mother would say No to but you know Grandma's....Ivalou got them for him. No wonder he likes going to Grandma's house.... ::)
Now it is time to what else there is on this site....
Everyone have a God Blessed Day/Evening/Night/Morning!!!
Thank you Etta Sue. I was hoping I was on track..... There were concerns in this camp, because of all the man made rules and do's and dont's.
Checked yesterday's posts and there I am...thanks for a good job Pat. See, in this case, less is definately more!
Sonja, I love the dancing figure, it is sweet. I am so sorry about Zachery and his illness. With a Mom like you, he will have the courage to never give up the battle.
About divorce...touching on a nerve there. I divorced my husband when the children were small, after many years of a terrible life. Was not a Christian until later, but would still do the same thing today. Three of his later wives seem to agree....Life is never simple or black and white.
The devotional certainly does inspire deep thoughts. It is my stand that we are to resist the influences of the world and try to follow as God leads. What we do reveals what we believe, no matter how we try to influence with words. What we believe will determine how we live. That is what other people see, both believers and non-believers. As I once stated before, I do my best to walk the talk....Have found that obedience can be costly if we follow our Lord. One has to be prepared to pay that price in the world and rest on the promises of God.
God Bless. Liz
I seem to have vanished into space....Thanks for the small version of me Pat....less is definitely more.
Sonja, I love the dancing figure. I am sorry about Zachery's illness. With a Mom like you, he will fight the good fight. Will pray for him.
Divorce is not a simple black or white subject. I divorced my husband when the children were small, after many, many years of an impossible life. It does take two to make a marriage. I became a Christian later. The wives that followed me seem to have agreed with my decision. Enough said on the matter.
The devotional was certainly interesting and the responses on target. My belief is that we are to resist the ways of the world. What we do reveals what we believe about God and both Christians and non-believers are watching. Words don't cut it. What we believe determines how we live. I have said before, I choose to walk the talk! Have found that obedience can be costly, so try to focus on God's promises. Have miles to go and much to learn....Glad that God is patient.
God Bless,
Liz
Well folks, you got a double dose of my post. It vanished, then came back again. Not worth reading twice, so forgive either me, my computer, or that elf who has been causing problems lately.
HI Liz! Thanks, Zachery is a little trooper. I think it is sometimes easier on him then me.
Judy and Etta Sue~ I think your right. As long as what I am doing is right in the Lord's eyes I think it is ok. I shouldn't worry about what others think or say. <that is the hardest part>
That's ok liz. I have come pretty close to modifing other peoples posts. Yikes! I even locked the door a few times, but went back and corrected it. :-[ I always laugh when that happens and hope nobody noticed. hehehehe.. 8)
pssst...don't tell Pat ;) ;D
(((hug)))
Rachelle, good going on the weight loss!
Sonja, you are the one He will tell what is right or wrong for you to do! Love you, girl!
Meeks, if you look in tonight......((((hugs)))).
Liz, I just sent you an email!
I won't be around tomorrow, as we are going to take Beth to Amarillo. Prayers appreciated.
I'm feeling sort of "down" tonight, so will go away now.
I am off to pick up a kid from swimming and drop the other off. Talk to you all later.

Out of Order: Finding God's Will
A fienrd snet me an iteresintng eamil. I hraldy eevr read "farowrds", but tihs one cughat my eye. In it was a srhot pragaraph taht shared how Egnilsh rsecarech has dsivocred taht the odrer of ltteers within a wrod are not imtoprnat so lnog as the frsit and lsat ltteers are in the rgiht plcae. This is due to the fcat that we read wrods as a whloe.
I was inertseted in tihs becasue it is so true to lfie. I can't eevn bigen to cunot the numebr of pepole who hvae siad to me thnigs like, "I am afarid I have missed out on God's wlil for my lfie." Mnay pepole seem to hvae the ieda that if we mkae a mistkae, a wrnog turn, an erorr in jdugmnet, marry the wrnog preson, take the wrnog job, mvoe to the wrnog plcae, or in oethr ways get our lteters out of oerdr, then we wlil be disqualfiied from partciiptaing in God's wlil -- that our lvies are doomed to maeninglses bbable.
As a rseult, you fnid a lrage nmbuer of Christians who hvae gvien up. They feel they hvae erred to scuh an exetnt as to disqauilfy thmeslvees from jioning God in His work. This is a trgadey. Jesus was claer: "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent." (John 6:29)
The olny way you can be disqauilfied from God's work (and consqeuetnly God's wlil) is to stop beleiivng in the one whom He snet.
In cnoclsuion, waht we fnid is tihs: Yes, we mkae msitkaes. Yes, we may birng tuogh cricmustaencs into our lvies taht God wolud have prfeeerrd us not exepreince. Yes, we may get our lteters in the worng odrer from tmie to tmie. Hwoeevr, as lnog as yuor
lfie is encased in that of Christ, as lnog as the bgeiinnng and ending is fuond in Him, you can be a pratiicpant of the diivne nature.
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the end," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." (Revelation 1:8)
He is the beginning of faith and the finisher of the same. And with faith built in Him, however out of order your letters may get, your life will write a beautiful poem of praise to the Almighty One! Believe. Trust. Step. Walk in Christ, today!
Well, did you like it??? ;D ;D
I hope Janet is feeling better, too...maybe this helped! :)
hahahha...Pinkie, at first I thought "she must have her fingers on the wrong keys and then I read on. I agree, that is a great email. Thanks for sharing.
:-\ Ms Pinkie. I SO love your new hair, I do.
I do not undarstand your words today at all :-[
I have no idea of it :-\
Ms Bice (((hug)))
Ms Janet ;D ;D here is a extra smile for you, but you will need to give it away today ok?
(((hug)))
Ms KarenB (((((((((HUG))))))))))))
I miss you, I am SO happy to see you are here. I do hope to see the pictures you have to share.
Mr Bernard I did have such a giggle on the hogwash ;D to me it is a very funny word. ;D
Hi Ms Soni ;D I like to dance too !
I did like to read all the words today about the devotional. It is a good day here on the CP
I have just ordered a new computer online. It is a Dell 2400 with so added stuff in it like Microsoft office basic with Money. and other stuff too. i will be able to make payments on it of $35 a month, I will pay more of course as long as I can to get it paid off. Will try to give away this old computer to someone who needs one.
I am doing the Happydance now. LOL
Be Back later. gonna check the other threads here.
Pshaw! There went my post! :'( And it was such a wonderful one, too! ::)
Sigh!
By the time I got here tonight, after a morning of taking pictures at town hall of the third grade classes touring all the departments, then attending the Village planning board meeting where I'm the secretary, there were 70 posts already today.
I just wanted to say how much we all seem to basically agree in our analysis of today's devotional.
And I want to say, Marilyn, how happy I am for you that you're getting that new computer.
Here I am again! I'm at Ruthie's house. We're going to have a cup of tea and then Geordie and I will head back to Guelph. At least the return journey won't be as long as coming in as the traffic will have died down a bit.
It was so wonderful to see our friends from Mizoram, India. It was a wonderful evening.
(We ate Chinese!)
LOL
Talk to you later!
Iain..........
Yes sir, I've been to Scotland twice and both time was fortunate to see the Tattoo. We visited a tailor in Sterling where I had a full dress (Evening) Kilt. The poor guy had to farm out the socks because they don't make them in my size. Just to give notice of the beauty of this man (The Tailor), he made it and sent to me here in the states and sent the bill along with my outfit. That's trust at it's best. We traced the Kirkwood name back to 1430. "Kirk"=church. Wood is self explanitory and I guesss you could say we are Church in the woods.
Judy.......
Hummmmmmmmmm, is a chant. The guy was chanting. ;D
Ria..........
Love you too.

Err, I believe that would be Jesus, sir.
JESUS
Lee..........Jesus
Jesus Jesus Jesus
There is just something about that name.
Master Saviour Jesus
Like the fargrance after the rain.
Kings and Kingdoms shall all pass away,
But there is something about that Name.
Melaura was singing as I wrote!
You can expect to see here on line soon!
Lee, did you really think you would catch any of us off guard? ;D
And of course that is absolutely the MOST blessed assurance - that Jesus is mine! And that I am His!
Jeanne Lee and everyone.............. ;) Love your hymn JudyB
A promise......
As the days go by, they might be tougher
Cami. I will pray for you.
WoW! A busy, busy place today. Pat, the devotional, and your question, brought such good response. I can't even add, but will say that I see our agreement: Jesus, first and last, in all things.
Sonifo, our Pastor Bev, who recently went home to be with the Lord, used to dance for Him. It was beautiful to watch, but she was unconcerned with our watching. She would do it when her need to express her love for Jesus was too great to be told in words alone. If your dancing is pleasing to you and to the Lord........you DANCE and don't worry so about what other Christians might think. :)
I'm not getting to be here much lately it seems. As you might know, my 13 year old grandaughter is staying here with Kim, her mom, and as you might know.....13 year olds have lots of friends who run home from school and get online to talk to each other again. In the morning, when I usually like to get online, Kim is sleeping in the next room, and for some reason my keyboard is really loud, or maybe I just hit them with a loud clickity clack. Anyway, I try to be quiet until it's time to get Angel up at 7.
I love taking care of Kim, while her eyes heal, but I will enjoy having my house all to myself again too. haha
Speaking of homeschooling......my daughter and her husband are quietly thinking and waiting. Angel, my grandaughter is headstrong, strong willed, stubborn, did I say strong willed? Anyway, Kim is so afraid she's getting with the wrong friends. Her grades are slipping and she doesn't seem to care, and she is pulling away from her mom. That's natural, I guess.....but they don't want her to get into a situation where she is influenced to make wrong decisions. I don't know how Angel would do with home schooling. She is very social. Her mother, on the other hand, was glad to be home taught from 8th grade on. What do you think? I wonder if she'd resent it and them, or if she'd adjust and think it was ok. They are praying about it before they even talk to Angel about it. And they'll wait till kim is back home naturally.
I'm glad I'm just a gramma now. :)
Janet.......here's another hug coming your way, honey.
Pretty slick there, LEE. ;) But you KNOW we have that answer down pat! ::)
I went to donate blood this evening, so I am now wearing a sign that says "Be nice to me ... !" Just thought I'd let y'all know! LOL :P
JANET~I'm praying ... and will be praying tomorrow, too. Our God is an AWESOME GOD!
I think I'll just sit back and relax while everyone takes turns being nice to me this evening. :P See y'all later ... maybe.
Nita, that is a tough choice. It would obviously be better if Angel would warm up to the idea, but if she is starting ot hang with the wrong crowd, that will be more and more difficult to do. :-\ Her parents may have to make the decision alone and take her kicking and screaming with them. At that point, they will need to be really really strong. Also, maybe they could start looking now for groups in the area where she could still be social. I know our homeschoolers have several groups that get together regularly. I'll be praying for them and Angel.
Jane Walker.........
I like you, you're pretty, everyone loves you, you are a wonderful Christian lady, your neighbors must bring food to your home because you are so nice.....And, you live TOO close to me ;D ;D ;D
Thank you for all the hugs! They do make me feel better.
Jane (((hugs))) to you.......I'm not sure how else I can be nice to you on the computer, but if I figure something out, I will do it!
Beth is spending the night here so she will be ready to leave early tomorrow morning. We will take her dog Mieka to town so a friend can puppy sit.
I will, of course, let you know what, if anything we find out tomorrow. I probably won't be on again until Sunday, though. I have an all day seminar on Saturday over in Colorado. Take care of yourselves till I get back, will you?
Nita. I started homeschooling when Melaura was in grade four. I had nothing but attitude for 3 weeks. There was snottyness and mouthyness that I couldn't believe. It took 3 weeks for this darling girl to become compliant and pleasant. If they decide to start home schooling they will need a lot of support. It will be a hard go for a while but well worth the challenge. There are several of us here who would be more than happy to support the family.
Hey I am at 500 posts! ! ! ! Does that mean I am a maestro too???? ??? ??? ??? ;D
Well I have the pleasure of John's company tonight. soooo I am going to close for now and perhaps be back later.
Love to all
JudyB
Hooray! Yes, Judy you're now a Maestro! ;D

Hi Everyone:
Pat & I had a wonderful time tonight. We were in a Chinese Buffet and there were some Christian authors there. I bought 2 books. The Mizo Messengers were singing from Mizoram, India. A man named Vanlal is the evangelist for the group. When we were talking to him he asked for prayer for his son. Following are the details:
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST
Please pray for LALMALSAWMA a 21 year old medical student in Delhi, India. Lalmalsawma has been very sick and the signs show he could have leukemia! This young man has medical exams on Monday, Oct. 27/03.
I promised his father that we would all rally behind his son and lift him up before the Lord and ask for a healing. Also ask God to help him with his medical exam on Monday. Vanlal was telling us of his son's integrity and love for the Lord.
Thank you so much. It is so good to know that we can all come in agreement and pray and be a part of the answer.
May God richly bless you all.
Love Ruthie :)
Consider it prayed about Ruthie!
I just had a thought. (Actually I had it earlier, so I guess you could say I just had a remembering). I know a lot of us are members at DPC. The open challenge right now is grace. Wouldn't it be cool if we could all submit pictures of the Saving grace? <hint, hint, hint>
I have been busy uninstalling stauff out of this computer and then went over to gilbert's for a little whoile. Now I am ready to call it a night and sign off here. I have enjoyed reading all of today's posts, and
Lee I too have that Blessed Assurance in
Jesus[/b][/color][/glow]
Good Night All
Yes Melaura has joined. She is really looking forward to 'puter time. I am stingy about that, I feel the need to be so very very careful.
I am saying Goodnight.
Love to all

Jesus is missing word Lee-I am sure that I am behind on this post ..
Rachelle
Welcome Melaura:
You have a pretty name! Is it a combination of 2 different names? I have an aunty Laura and I know a Melody.
God bless.

Lee~I guess I be the first to answer that. Jesus! hehehhehehe... ;D
You sure know how to cheer up the room. :D
Looks like my bestest fren' in all the whole world, NITA, posted while I was doing other things and I missed her.... :-[ :-\ I just want to say, dear friend, that I am, and will be, praying for this decision that Kim and Paul are contemplating. I know our Father has the perfect solution!

Well, here I am home at last!
I left Ruthie's after our cuppa and headed south the few streets to where you normally get on Highway 401 to head west to Guelph.
The access ramp was closed! ::) So I had to go south further toward the city and go along a few miles on another road all the way west to where I could get onto the highway so my journey home took almost as long as my journey in!
Thanks so much Ruthie for putting that VERY URGENT PRAYER REQUEST in here. I think I'll put it in our Prayer area as well. I hope that everyone will pray for Vanlal's son. They are 10 hours ahead of us and the exams start in the morning of Monday their time and he's so ill. He's already lost a year of his education (medical) due to the fact that he was trying to get into the Christian Medical School in Delhi so this is very important.

Ruthie and I had an absolutely lovely evening. We met two authors and took photos of them as they signed our books we bought. Now, I think I'm going to go and curl up and start reading one in my bed!
I have a lovely "book pillow" to put it on as I lay in bed. ;)
I'll tell you all about it in our Book Nook later.
Now, it's time to lock the door.
Please remember to pray for Vanlal's son. He's a gem of a young man who really loves the Lord and it's very important to him to pass these exams so he can go on to further his education and because a doctor in India.
