Morning Devotional...

..They shall never perish.          John 10:28

Wonderful words, and they mean exactly what they say!

"Never" is a long time! Yes, there are some people who will never perish, who are safe forever in the hands of the Lord. They have eternal life, because the Lord Himself has given it to them.

Are you one of those people?

The Lord tells how to recognize them; they hear His voice and follow Him. They don't just know things about Him, they belong to Him personally, and He keeps them forever.

If you have never heard His voice and decided to follow Him, let today be the day!
                                                                                  ~Carl Knott~

Jesus, my Lord, will love me forever,
from Him no power of evil can sever;
He gave His life to ransom my soul--
now I belong to Him!

Goodmorning.

Thank-you Soni dear for the words of wisdom.....

Better a Holy discord than a profane concord. amen.  amen.

Eddie.  I am sure you don't need pictures in your hall brother.  You are a beautiful painting...a Masterpiece in the making.

It is raining here again this morning but the sun is shining and that is a wonderful blessing.  Thank-you God!

Marilyn.  See you later.

Jane.  Stoke that stove up for me.  Put the kettle on.  ;)

It is dark this morning and I slept very little last night.  Cannot imagine why.

Soni:  Thank you for the devotion, the reading from  Romans.  So, your youngest is six years old.  How charming that age.

Janet:  Your party sounds like it was unforgettable for all the girls.

Larry:  It looks like you are getting some answers for medical care.

Yesterday, I had a chance to quilt most of the day at a big Methodist church basement in Loveland.   When I finally came home, I was racking my brain for what to fix for dinner when I saw a note that a good friend and great cook called and had invited us for dinner.

Jenny:  The coffee beans are freshly ground and I am sipping - tea time is the afternoon for me but I will put a kettle on for your tea anytime.  It is very windy here and the sky is clear.  We missed a rain/snowfall.  Take care.

Sonja, thank you for the devotional.

Jenny, and good morning to you.  Looks like a rainy day here.  I like a rainy day when I can settle down with a good book.

Sarah,  I hope you do well on your test.  I started to say, “good luck.”  But we know it isn’t a matter of luck.  Just go and do the best you can.

Carol, sorry you didn’t sleep well last night.  We were late getting home from the homecoming church meeting.  We had a wonderful period of singing and one of the former ministers talked about the history of some of the songs and their special meanings.  After we enjoyed some delicious pies brought by the ladies of the church.

I John 1:6-7  If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.  (NIV)

I hope you all have a good day.

Good Morning Everyone!

Busy day ahead for me.  I have some Avon to deliver and some brochures to get out and the concert is tonight that I went to last week and found out it was tonight.   ::)

Also, I have some terrific news to share in our Weight Loss Support Group!

And, if you have a nice funny joke or story we have a section now just for that.

A TIME TO SMILE (http://christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?board=51.0)

Thanks so much, Soni, for the devotional.  It was interesting to listen to the Creation Moment too!  Hadn't done that for awhile.

Good Morning,  Thank you Soni for the deovtional today. It is always good to be reminded that;
QuoteIf you have never heard His voice and decided to follow Him, let today be the day!

It is raining here too. It has been off and on for about a week and a half. I will be going out for about 15 minutes today over to the Food Bank to pick up some bread and some vegetasbles while the veggies are still available. They have a huge garden there and the veggies are free.

Hi Jenny I'll see you shortly.

Failure and Success: Just a Small Church Upcountry

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum
of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the
sand; when I awake, I am still with You.
--Psalm 139:17-18

No matter how insignificant he may have been before, a man becomes
significant the moment he has had an encounter with the Son of God.
When the Lord lays His hand upon a man, that man ceases at once to be
ordinary. He immediately becomes extraordinary, and his life takes on
cosmic significance. The angels in heaven take notice of him and go
forth to become his ministers (Hebrews 1:14). Though the man had
before been only one of the faceless multitude, a mere cipher in the
universe, an invisible dust grain blown across endless wastes-now he
gets a face and a name and a place in the scheme of meaningful things.
Christ knows His own sheep "by name."

A young preacher introduced himself to the pastor of a great
metropolitan church with the words, 'I am just the pastor of a small
church upcountry.' 'Son,' replied the wise minister, "there are no
small churches." And there are no unknown Christians, no
insignificant sons of God. Each one signifies, each is a "sign"
drawing the attention of the Triune God day and night upon him. The
faceless man has a face, the nameless man a name, when Jesus picks
him out of the multitude and calls him to Himself.  We Travel an
Appointed Way, 19.

"Lord, I pray this morning for that discouraged pastor of the 'small
church upcountry.' Let him see how much You care for him, and how
significant You see his ministry to be. Amen."

Chris, thanks!

I so agree with that devotional and what a wise preacher of the large metropolitan church to encourage the other.

"Lord, I pray this morning for that discouraged pastor of the 'small
church upcountry.' Let him see how much You care for him, and how
significant You see his ministry to be. Amen."

Today is the big wedding.  Tony and Charlene's daughter is getting married this afternoon and then they will be honeymooning in Hawaii next week.  Wish I could go to Hawaii with them.

Ever since I have lived in the house...three years next month...I have felt that the heat was too expensive and also that the bedrooms and bath was too cold.  It is only 1200 square feet with a 14' x'14 basement and crawl space under the rest of the house.  I called the man that I had work on the furnace two times...left messages and he hasn't returned my call.  I don't know how he stays in business.  Ivalou said to call this other man.  I called him yesterday afternoon and within two hours, he returned my call.  It seems he is the one that put in this furnace.  I told him that I did an experiment this week.  I shut the two bedroom doors and the bathroom.  After a few hours the temperature results were ....Utility room 71 degrees, South Bedroom 62 degrees, Bathroom 66 degrees and North Bedroom 64 degrees.  I told this man that and he said that I definitely have a problem and that HE can fix it!!!!! Woo Hee!!!!  He is coming next Thursday afternoon to check things out and also clean my furnace.  I have hot water baseboard heat heated by a bottle gas furnace.  I mentioned to take out these registers and replace with electric and he said NO WAY!  You have the most cost effective heat there is.  Not according to my gas bills!!!

That was too long but I am excited to eventually have a house that is warm all over and doesn't guzzle gas, too!  I hope I am not dreaming.

Rainy, cloudy but not really cold today.

Good morning dear hearts.  It's raining, raining, raining here this morning.  Yep.....it's weather to curl up with a good book.

I've been reading The Three Battle Grounds.

My grandaughter Angel stayed with me last night.  Since Kyle, grandson, has the upstairs room now, she had to sleep on the couch.  Well, at 5:45 this am, I awoke to pups yipping, howling, barking...and any other noise you might think of hearing!  They were LOUD.  Angel was sitting up on the couch, half awake.  This is the loudest they've ever been. lol  It reminded me of a movie or program I saw (and heard) about the Dingos.  The pups were making the same sound.   I imagine one got started and the challenge to be the loudest was on.  Amy(mama dog) still doesn't like poor Angel for some reason, so she was growling low, and from a safe distance.   What an exciting morning for Angel.  ;D   I got up and had her go to my room.

Amy doesn't trust Angel, or my grandson.  She always growls at them and goes to her box.  I hate that she feels this way.  I think some teenagers must have been mean to her when she was with the breeder/owner and kenneled 24 hours a day.  She is ok with adults, but not teens.  Can she change?  She's 4 now.  I don't know if this fear can be overcome at her age.  As soon as the pups stop nursing, I'll put a crate in my room so she'll have her own place to hang out.

I've been waiting for a call to visit a SN lady who is coming through Coos Bay.  She came in last night, but I was waiting for an important phone call and couldn't leave.  Jane went to meet her, but I haven't heard if she stayed over.  If I don't hear soon, I'm assuming she didn't. (for SNers, it's Bobbie Gould)

I think my day is gloriously open. :)  It'll be exciting to see what the Lord has for my life today.

ok........I'm off to see what's going on in Roman's today.  Thanks, Al.

This is much too long!

Have a blessed day everyone.  Nita

For once, I like both teams.  I'm just really glad the Sox beat the Yankees :)

Boy I sure hope my answers are right, it's been a year since I taught Acts, would be a shame to have missed any of them...

It has been a stressful week for me at the Bible School dealing with some pretty serious issues there.  It was good to be home today and do absolutely nothing of importance.  I did edit a few more pictures of my Interpreter's Wedding, they are posted in the photos section.  Was really my first time taking wedding photos, so don't be too mean on them :-)  I'm actually quite proud of them.

Tomorrow, I'm NOT preaching anywhere, so I get to sit and enjoy a service and hear someone else bring me the word of God.  That will be a nice change.  Yesterday the American kids in town got together for a fall harvest festival, I'll try to put a picture of Noel up in her Tennessee Vol's cheerleader outfit, they had a ton of fun.

    Post more later....

Hi everyone.  I am watching football today and have spent most of the day sitting in my easy chair or laying on the bed.  My hips and lower back are continuing to ache.  Am using a heat pad and that seems to help but not eliminate the discomfort.  I am just not used to experiencing continuous pain.  Just a cream puff I guess.

Sonja, thanks for the fine devotional this morning.  I predict that St. Louis will win the Baseball World Series.

I enjoyed reading the new humor section here on CP.  Pat, I hope you enjoy the concert this evening.

Alma, sorry to learn of the accident involving your brother-in-law and mother.

Etta Sue, we had baseboard heat when we lived in Alaska and it was great heat as it was very even.  Hope the heating man is able to fix the problem.

Skief, in our church we have three ministers so they are able to take turns in the pulpit and thus can hear sermons as well as give them.  Hope this next week won't be as stressful for you.

Nita, it does sound as if your mother dog has been mistreated somewhere to have such a dislike for teens.

I have read all the postings but am going to be brief today.  Glad to see so many folks posting.  Hope everyone has a good evening.

Nita, I've been meaning to ask you---what breed are your puppies?  Abby took ours out on the grass for quite a while and played with them.  They needed to be "aired out!"  Phew!  Beth's little puppy is so adorable!

Jane, wish you could have come to the party.  It was fun!  I will post photos soon, I have them all ready---well, not all, but some!  Also some of my visit to first grade this week.

Larry, sorry your hips are hurting.  I'm a cream puff about pain, too.   I'm feeling bad today with tonsilitis and an inflamed tooth.  Yuck.

Soni, good devotional!  And I don't care a whit which team wins!  I was rooting for the Yankees, sort of by osmosis, I don't watch the games.  The reason is because Beth's friend John is a Yankees fan.

I had an interesting experience today at Walmart.  I had put my memory card in the machine, selected the photos I wanted, printed them, then the manager of the photo department wanted to use the machine. ( they were taking photos of kids with Charlie Brown and Linus, for Halloween).  I wanted to get a CD of all the pics on the card, so he took it and said he would have it done, to go ahead with whatever else I needed to do.  Well, I did, came back, asked, was told not done yet, waited.........waited,,,,,,waited.........saw my photos being printed out on their big machine!  I told the guy that I hadn't ordered ANY prints, just a CD!  He said "oops!"  Anyway, the upshot was I told them that if they would make me a good deal I would take the additional prints (69 of them!) because I hadn't ordered them, knew they would only throw them into the trash, they mean nothing to anyone but me.  So they finally let me have them for $7.20.  So now I have more extras to share with the little girls who came to the party yesterday.  ;D

I think I may lie down a while, I feel dreadful.

Oh dear, I am sorry we have more poorly patients...Janet I hope you get some rest and feel better soon.  Christopher sends his Best wishes.  He of course understands..re the tonsils.

Larry you need my feather mattress topper  to lie on for those hips....It eases some of my pain at night.  They are like a duvet but fit on top of the mattress.  Single and double sizes available and very reasonably priced. They come in 1", 2" and 3" thicknesses.  I have the 3".....oooh it's lovely! Also you don't need much on top with those feathers underneath.

Alma. We had neighbours from San Bernadino in the 1960s.  Jim and Joan.  Jim was from the U.S.  airforce base at Upper Heyford in Oxfordshire. U.K. It was a second marriage for Joan. Joan was Eurasian, very beautiful to look at with lovely long dark hair.,She had 3 lovely daughters.  Unfortunately I can't recall their surname.

    Hi Pat

Night, Jenny!  I have one of those feather beds.  I bought it for poor Jack when he had no fat left on his bones and it was so sore to lie in bed so I got a queen sized one.  It's now sitting doing nothing!

    Hello to all!!

I've enjoyed the posts.  I cannot find the google ads to click on.  I need help ::)

Pat, I use the feather topper on my mattress now because it keeps me warmer in the winter along with the feather comforter on top of me.  QVC specials about 7 years ago.

Now on to see what else I have missed this week.

I'm dieting so will go there next. :) :)

Pat.  If you dont use that topper then perhaps you could give it to Judy or Carol and Don for one of their folks. Mine is a real blessing, even though I cant sleep lately I am so comfy on there.

We're back from our latest trip south. I want to share the blessings that I experienced this morning.

This morning, the doctor in Atlanta and I had an in depth conversation about my family member we're all praying for. This doctor is a deeply devoted Christian who spends time in Jamaica treating hundreds of patients.

I shared about how I felt this child of mine was confronted with a deep conviction during a revival when he was 13. He was restless all night long, and I (in the next bedroom) could hear his tossing and turning while I prayed all night long for him. Unfortunately, he turned his back on salvation - but where there's life, there's also HOPE.

At any rate, this doctor is a large man (actually 6th in the nation in his weight class in power lifting). Well, he wrapped those large arms around me, pulled me close to his chest, and prayed both for me and then with me.

What an experience! Thank you, Lord.

Ruth Ann........What an AWESOME experience.  Sometimes you can actually feel the hand of our Lord touching us.  You are truly blessed today

    Hi there, Kathy!

Ruth Ann, I'm so happy you got blessed today.  Yes, sometimes just a touch on your shoulder seems a touch from God, and He knew that you needed a big HUG today.  And here is a cyber hug from me, too!  ((((hugs))))

I remember when I was a kid the folks had a feather mattress.  It was about a foot thick, and we had to beat it with a broom to fluff it up, also used a broom to smooth it out.  Once, when Mom was looking for me to give me a whipping, my older sisters made a ditch in the middle of it, hid me there, and put the covers over me.  I thought I would suffocate, but Mom never did find me!  ;D Then, on a trip to Europe, they had the feather comforters, and they were just heavenly to sleep under.  Thanks for the memories.

I tried lying down for a while, but just felt frozen in place, couldn't get warm and couldn't relax.  So I'm back, and going to post some photos.

Have a look in the bi-weekly challenge at the ones I posted last night.  (Please?)
