You Can Count On It!

Philippians 1:6.  "Being confident of this very thing, that He Who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."

Paul knew that God Himself had begun a powerful and effective spiritual work in the Philippian christians.  He wanted them to be very aware that the result of that work was going to be still more of God's work in them.  Not only so, but He wanted them to be just as aware of where this work of God would lead.  He wanted them to know that the same Holy Spirit Who brought new life to their hearts would continue bringing life to their hearts right on until Jesus Christ came again and received them unto Himself in eternal glory.

Oh dear saints of God!  It is not dependent upon our frenzied efforts, intermittent good works, and desperate "hanging on," but it's all dependent upon the same God Who began the work.  If you've been brought by His Spirit to trust Christ alone to make you acceptable to God, then He's going to keep you trusting until He comes again to usher you into glory!

You can trust Him for it!

Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
(Click to hear music)

"He was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!' Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. 'You of little faith,' He said, 'why did you doubt?'" Matthew 14:29-31

Words: Elisha A. Hoffman, in The Glad Evangel for Revival, Camp, and Evangelistic Meetings (Dalton, Georgia: A. J. Showalter & Company, 1887).
Music: Anthony J. Showalter--Showalter wrote this tune and words to the refrain after hearing from two friends whose wives had died, and asked Hoffman to write the remaining lyrics.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

Hi everyone.  Am sitting her watching the coverage of the hurricane.  It is hitting clear across the state of Florida.

I have a light schedule today.  Need to work on a program for the November 11th special event we are having in honor of the WWI veterans from our county.  Members of their family have been invited, the school band will play and a color guard from one of the ROTC units at one of the highschools will participate.  Our Friday coffee drinkers are serving as hosts and will serve the meal.  We are preparing for 150.  It has been my job to do the writing of the invitation letters and other correspondence, including preparing the program.

Happy Birthday Judy.

Tbear, nice to hear that you daughter has a volunteer job and this gives her some job experience when she enters the paid work force.

Janet, 100 attendees from your community at the Promise Keepers meeting seems like a large number.  Glad he had such a good experience.

Pat, sure hope you are feeling better today and the fever is gone.

Al, thanks for the devotional today.

Carol, we had to replace our microwave that was 9 years old a few months ago.  We really like the new one.  Glad you have your new one installed.  Does it talk to you?

Guess I had better get busy on the program.

Marilyn

Not very suprisingly, we have fog again.  I think it's been foggy about 80 percent of the days here lately.  It can and does get fairly thick sometimes.  Oh that we might experience the clear sunshine of God's moment-by-moment love even while it's foggy outside!
Larry - I hope Wilma doesn't turn around out there in the Atlantic and come back and whack y'all there!

Not much has been going on at my house since I last posted.  Church was awesome.  And I did sleep much better Saturday night.  You sure can feel the nip in the air when you venture outside.  I had forgotten that I had my furnace off until this morning.  Sure was chilly when I got up this morning.  But warming up now.  Dark and gloomy outside so my solar heat isn't going.

Janet ~ Do give Beth my sympathy on losing her precious Miracle.  I don't know what I would do if I lost Ali or Inky.  But I do feel Beth made the right decision.  And bless your heart, too, Janet.  I know you feel bad yourself.

Small Groups tonight...that is always a great time sharing the Word with others and fellowshipping with others.

Good morning.  We had our first killing frost last night, and it's still pretty nippy out there.

I took Beth out to the Vet's office after my swim this morning.  She held Miracle, Miracle licked her face while Beth cried; the vet left us alone and said to let them know when Beth was ready.  She wanted me to take some pictures for her, which I did.  After a little while, she said "I think I'm ready now."  So I called them back in, they gave Miracle a shot, and it was all over in just about one minute.  I stood behind Beth to hug her and comfort her while it was happening.  She knows she did the right thing for both her and the dog.

Thank you Etta Sue, Pat, Marilyn, Carol, Larry and all who said kind words about this situation.  I did pass on your words of concern to Beth.

Since this is Pastor Appreciation Month, I want to invite our pastor and family out for a meal.  So I think I will call them and see what's on their schedule for this week.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUDY McKENNA!!!  And many more!

Happy Birthday Judy!!!!
an welcome Caprichika :) Can't wait to get to know you.

Last night my bro and I went skating and some teenagers were literally wrestling on the ice.  One smashed into my back and it's rather stiff now, but better than yesterday.

Anyways, the teacher's strike is finally over and my brother is back in school this morning, so hopefully that'll be it for all these walk-outs.

I'm off now to get some stuff done.

God Bless,
Teresa Dawn

Hi, how are all you people doing who live in Florida.   My friend Patricia is there now and she is staying in the closet with a flashlight with her little doggy Bijou.  I am praying for her that she will be safe.

Hello all!

I'm sorry about Beth and her dog.  I know that is a tough decision to make.

Hope everyone is staying healthy and warm.  We went to the library this morning for storytime and the kids were hyper.  Like bouncing off the walls.  I thought to myself (didn't tell anyone 'cuz it sounded too crazy) "Must be getting ready to snow."  We came outside, and I told travis, "Wow, it's gotten colder"  Then jokingly, "It might snow."  About that time, he said, "Mom, it is snowing!"  Sure 'nuf, it was spittin' flakes. That was weird, because just yesterday we were talking about how warm it has been.

From Summer to Winter in one fell swoop.  We still just barely have color here.  Up around Boone/Grandfather Mountain, they had some color last week, but our leaves are still green.

So, we were out driving today, and I hear Travis singing (he does this alot).  The tune was his alone (meaning I couldn't really identify it) but he was basically combining two songs

"El Shaddai, El Shaddai
There's a fountain flowing deep and wide
Deep and Wide

El Shaddai, El Shaddai
There's a fountain flowing deep and wide
Deep and wide"

Yesterday, the "song of the day" was Amazing Grace

"Amazing Grace
How sweet the sound
That saved me
I was lost, now I am found
I was bad, but now I am good
Amazing Grace"

HEhehehehe.

Again, I hope all is going well.

Laters.

Janet

Awwww, Karma, how precious!  It is obvious that Travis is getting the basic message of God's Word, and nothing is more important than that.  Good for you and Nards!

I hadn't thought about kids getting hyper because it was going to snow!  Hmm, I will watch that one.  I know they sure get that way just before the holidays, and just before school is out for the term.

Teresa, glad the teachers strike is over.  It is illegal here in the states for teachers to go on strike, but they have tried it a few times.  I think that's a terrible thing to do to the kids.

Back to my cleaning.........having company one night this week, I think.

Hello folks...

I'm only here for a few minutes and then I'm going to go back and lie down.  I have to shake this bug.

I think my temperature is down a bit now but still feeling so yucky.

Sorry to be a "wet blanket".  This is the third or fourth day now so it should be leaving me soon.

Janet, tell Beth I am so sorry about her losing her dog.  Many of us have had similar experiences.  Our first dog after we got married was named "Dinky".  She was a beautiful little Dachshund who was 14 years old.  I held her in my arms and shed a tear as the doctor gave her a shot and she went to sleep.

Happy birthday Judy.

We had a good day yesterday.  For about forty years I filled the pulpit, preaching God's word.  I had a little problem getting used to not being the one doing the preaching.  Of course now I enjoy listening and learning, praising God, and growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.

Matt 18:20  For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."  (NIV)

2 Pet 3:18  But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.  (NIV)

Rev 2:10  "Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. (NKJ)

Papa John          <;D)))><<

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Papa John - I can sure relate to your feelings about hearing versus preaching.  I'm enjoying learning, listening too, but I have to admit that sometimes I want to get back to the pulpit, too (and sometimes I do).  There's a day coming when we son't be retired anymore forever!  But I don't think we'll have to preach the Word, either, 'cause everyone will know it and love it!  But it'll be much easier to rejoice and celebrate our Lord's presence as we behold His glory.

"Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me." (Jn 17:24)

Janet

Thank you, Papa John, I will tell Beth.  She, too, held her dog in her arms and shed some tears as the shot was given and the little dog relaxed and passed quietly away.

Not much happening since I was last here.  Pat, get well soon.  I think I have a cold, still coughing and now a runny nose.  Yuck!

Hi, friends,

I'm back "in circulation" again. I needed a lot of rest over the weekend, but feel very good today.

I, too, am saddened by the pain Janet, Beth, and family are feeling about little Miracle.

And, it's wonderful to celebrate a birthday with Judy. May you have many more, and may your health be good this year.

Pat, get to feeling better soon.

Marilyn, talking about the food you fixed made my mouth water!

Webcams are something I hope to get into when time allows. In the interim, y'all enjoy them and let me have some vicarious enjoyment by reading your comments!

Y'all have a wonderful evening.
