Morning Devotional

Ephesians 2:8, 9.  "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not or yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone whould boast."

A gracious host makes his/her guests feel at home and well cared for. He/she supplies the needs and wants of each.  Our God is the very standard of such graciousness - He is gracious to each and every one of His guests in this world.  He has richly supplied the needs of all His creatures.  Even though mankind has rebelled against Him, yet still His creation contains enough and more than enough to feed, clothe, shelter, and provide enjoyment for the entire race.  Inequalities, want, and failure to benefit from His supply - these things are the results of the rebellion against Him Who supplied all things richly to enjoy.

Not only so, but our gracious Host has supplied the wondrous means to return from rebellion into His marvelous favor.  And the means are indeed wonderful beyond all our ability to describe them!  He has sent His only-begotten Son into the world to be our Substitute before the bar of Divine Justice!  By entrusting ourselves to Him, we can escape from wrath into the overwhelming and all-encompassing love of God!

A gracious host is praiseworthy, but the gracious God is glorious beyond all praise!  Have you experienced His grace?  He says, "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out."

AMAZING GRACE
(Click title to hear music)

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.

When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.

Hey what do you know here it is morning and I am first.

Thank you Al for the devotional this morning.  I love Amazing Grace and it is so apt for the message today. Thank you so much.

Well it is back to same thing today.  Work but no Tai Chis this morning there is  some group of 200 using our building for something or other I forget what. But it is a group of teen agers. Something like 4-H. Everything is wet outside and too wet to do Tai Chi out there.

Praising the Lord every day.

Talk to you later, running late but wanted to start the day here.

Missed you all and wanted to thank you again for keeping us in your prayers.

Hi everyone.  A busy day today.  I went to coffee and then met my son at Lowe's (a home supply store) and found a storm door to put on the front door.  It has both screen and glass panels and either can be removed if desired.  It will provide just a little more security as when we open the front door we are not immediately open to the world.  Our son is installing it now.

The housekeeper is here this morning and the yard maintence folks should be here this afternoon.  My wife took our daughter to school and waited for her and then went on to the mall area for a doctor's appointment.  She just called and said they were going to get lunch and run another errand or two.

I see the President has nominated a women to the Supremem Court vacancy.

I will try to get back a little later today.

Happy Belated Birthday, Nita!!!

Pat, do be careful.  Those falls can be terrible.  Do take caution and watch your step.

I wasn't online yesterday.  I was sooooo tired after getting up early and doing two jobs at church yesterday and staying for a baptism, that I came home and took a nap.  Then Ivalou was AWOL.  She didn't go to her church and I didn't know where she was.  So I walked to her house...the car was gone.  At least, she wasn't down in the house.  But when it got dark, I called her cell phone.  She was at her sons house after seeing a grandson play two Fall baseballl games.  She was enjoying ice cream and cake for her granddaughter's birthday.  Hard to keep up with that gal.

Tonight is Small Groups.  I am enjoying our study on the Book of James.

Happy Belated Birthday Nita!

Pat, hope you are feeling better today and that some of the aches have gone away.

Mom, nice to hear that Doug and Char visited for a little bit.

I didn't have the computer on at all over the weekend.  I had to work very early Sat morning, and then I picked up my daughter and her boyfriend and together with my partner, went for a drive to Midland for the day.  Had dinner out and a beverage with my Mom on the way home.  I went to church yesterday morning, and came home to a message from work that I was wanted to start earlier than schedules so I was off running again.  I also had to work today, so it has just been a busy busy busy weekend.  Once I get my film developed, I hope to have some photos of the colours we had seen.

Larry Hanna

I met to wish Nita a belated birthday in my posting this morning but forgot.  Hope you had a very nice celebration and enjoy your new permanent.

My son got the screen door installed and we have been enjoying the nice breeze through the house this afternoon.  It helped that the humidity was only 33% even though it got up to 82 degrees.

I got one that also has glass panels that can be put in when winter comes.  I still need to get a guard to go across the screen to prevent it being pushed out and to provide a little more protection as it would be easy now to cut the screen and step into the house.  We also ran into a problem with the downspout from the gutter and will have to replace the guttering over the front door as we couldn't get the door open with the downspout in place.

Pat, I am going to get my digital camera out soon and take some fall pictures.  However, as of now we really haven't started to see any fall color in our area other than the grass browning up a bit, which is also partly due to a lack of rain this last month.

Hello to everyone...

Andrew came and moved a bush for me and I hope it grows.  It was right where the deck is going to go so thought we might as well try to save it.

It was a lovely day here today.  There won't be many more days like that so we better enjoy while we can.

Tomorrow I have to pack my Avon order.

Talk to you later.  Going to have another hot bath and see if I can get rid of more aches and pains.

Papa John

We enjoyed our week over in Pigeon Forge.  Saturday we drove home and as usual it was good to get back to my own bed.  Yesterday we had a good day of worship, prayer, singing, reading from God's word, taking the bread and fruit of the vine

Today we got our flu shots, a lot different from last year when there was a shortage.

Etta Sue,  we had small group last night and by coincident we are also studying the book of James.

Pat, the trees haven't changed color here yet.  They should be beautiful in a few weeks but now yet.    :D

Jona, looks to me like you have a very good web site and I wish your business the best.

James 2:1-4
1   My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism.
2   Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in.
3   If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, "Here's a good seat for you," but say to the poor man, "You stand there" or "Sit on the floor by my feet,"
4   have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?   (NIV)

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Jonah - looked over your site, and I think it's great.  Is there a problem with the word "printing" over on the left?  Should it be "prynting?"

Can you do printing/binding jobs?  Like books?  I might have one that needs it.

Janet

I feel almost like this... x_x  Every part of my poor body is hurting or aching.  I spent the entire day, until 7 tonight working at Beth's and still we are not finished.  Have you ever tired to clean EVERY surface in a house?   :o  It's an awful lot of hard work, let me tell you!  Pat has been a Godsend, but her arm is hurting, and she had to quit earlier than me, which was just fine.  I kept trying to get her to stop earlier, but she just kept working.

I don't think we are going to get the whole job done before Beth gets home, just too much work.  But I do hope to have the kitchen done, that's what we worked on today.  Every dish in the place had to be washed, every shelf and drawer emptied and cleaned, and we had to throw out all her perishable dry foods.  :P  I'm ready for a day off!

We will do what we can tomorrow, and that's it; because we have to go pick Beth up on Wednesday.  So the back bedroom will likely have to wait until later.  I know, I know........TMI, right?  Sorry......... :-[

I'm looking forward to getting away for a couple of days to the ladies' retreat.  We leave on Thursday.

My Grandsons left today to return to college.  It was wonderful to see them, though.  They said they might come home for opening day of pheasant season, in November.

I will stop now, before this turns into a book!

Jutst taking it easy tonight.

I took Fay shopping in the rain and When I went to Versal's I made her an Apple Crisp after I got the work done.

Got home about 3:30

Last night my next door neighbor brought over a big bowl of Beef Stew and a piece of Pineapple Upside down cake. When I took her dishes back today I took her some Tuna Macaroni Salad.

That's it for tonight.

Thanks for the devotional.

The Autumn colors here are just starting to get underway but I would think that by the weekend The trees will be in full display.

It is always good to spend time with my family. I am getting tired so it will not be long before I get a few hours of rest.

Thanks for the devotional, Pastor Al.  Finally spending some time at the computer and hope that I won't get bonked on the head!

Nice  weather between showers and definately Fall here on the island.  Took and posted a few pictures today.  Shows some of the lovely colors in the area.

Went to Victoria with the kids on Sat. and did some necessary shopping.  My Norton's Security is due for renewal, wanted to purchase the 2006 version and have to wait until next week +.....still have a little while left on this one.

Bought a new iron....which doesn't work properly.  Decided to take off the back of my old iron and check a couple of things.  Fixed it and can take back the new one.....that is terrible.  Since I am the only one in the house who irons, get all of Wendy & Amanda's stuff to keep me busy.  Not usually into fixing electrical things but this was quite simple!

Not much to say so here is a little smile:
