Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Blessed is the man.
Psalm 1:1

The very first psalm introduces us to the blessed Man. Meeting Him changes you forever.

Mr. Stan Ford once said, "The blessed Man of Psalm 1 became the forsaken Man of Psalm 22, in order that the foolish man of Psalm 14 could become the happy man of Psalm 32."

"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus."

I'm so glad that He and I met!

Have you met Him?
—Rex Trogdon

THAT MAN OF CALVARY
(Click to hear music)

When they were come to the place,
which is called Calvary,
there they crucified Him.
Luke 23:33

Words: Manie P. Ferguson (1850-1932)

Fairest of all the earth beside,
Chiefest of all unto Thy bride,
Fullness divine in Thee I see,
Beautiful Man of Calvary!

Refrain

That Man of Calvary
Has won my heart from me,
And died to set me free,
Blest Man of Calvary!

Granting the sinner life and peace,
Granting the captive sweet release,
Shedding His blood to make us free,
Merciful Man of Calvary!

Refrain

Giving the gifts obtained for men,
Pouring out love beyond our ken,
Giving us spotless purity,
Bountiful Man of Calvary!

Refrain

Comfort of all my earthly way,
Jesus I'll meet Thee some sweet day;
Center of glory Thee I'll see,
Wonderful Man of Calvary!

Refrain

THE PERFECT MISTAKE

My Mother's father worked as a carpenter..

On this particular day, he was building some crates for the  clothes his church was sending to orphanages in China. On his way home, he reached into his shirt pocket to find his glasses, but they were gone. When he mentally replayed his earlier  actions, he realized what had happened; the glasses had slipped out of  his pocket unnoticed and fallen into one of the crates, which he had nailed  shut.

His brand new glasses were heading for China! The Great Depression was at its height and Grandpa had six  children. He had spent $20 for those glasses that very morning. He was upset by the thought of having to buy another pair.

"It's  not fair," he told God as he drove home in frustration.  "I've been very faithful in giving of my time and money to your work, and now this."

Months later, the director of the orphanage was on furlough in  the United States.  He wanted to visit all the churches that supported him  in China, so he came to speak one Sunday at my grandfather's small church  in Chicago.

The missionary began by thanking the people for their  faithfulness in supporting the orphanage. "But most of all," he said, "I must thank you for the glasses you sent last year. You see, the Communists had just swept through the orphanage, destroying everything, including my glasses. I was desperate. Even if I had the  money, there was simply no way of replacing those glasses. Along with not being able to see well, I experienced headaches  every day, so my coworkers and I were much in prayer about this.

Then your crates arrived. When my staff removed the covers, they found a pair of glasses lying on top. The missionary paused long enough to let his words sink in. Then, still gripped with the wonder of it all, he continued: "Folks, when I tried on the glasses, it was as though they had  been custom made just for me!   I want to thank you for being a part of  that."

The people listened, happy for the miraculous glasses. But the missionary surely must have confused their church with another, they thought. There were no glasses on their list of items to be  sent overseas.  But sitting quietly in the back, with tears streaming down  his face, an ordinary carpenter realized the Master Carpenter had used him  in an extraordinary way.

There are times we want to blame God instead of thanking him! May GOD bless your week. Look for the perfect mistakes. "People are like tea bags- - you have to put them in hot water  before you know how strong they are." Now "ain't" that just like God to do something like that????????

Papa John

Good morning from a cool Nashville, Tennessee.  It was down in the 40's last night and right now it is 52.  But here we are in October and it is time for cooler weather.

Pat, thanks for the thoughts this morning.  Sometimes I think that I am the most blest man in the world.  God has been so good to me.  We have had so much happiness through the years.  We don't have much money but we are rich as children of God.    :)

Judy, the story of the glasses reminds us that we don't always understand why bad things happen.  Joseph saw God's providence in the terrible things which had happened to him.

Gen 50:18-21
18   His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. "We are your slaves," they said.
19   But Joseph said to them, "Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God?
20   You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
21   So then, don't be afraid. I will provide for you and your children." And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.
(NIV)

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  This is football and baseball day here.  Because the Chicago White Sox won their series yesterday ESPN2 is going to carry the Virginia Tech football game.  So my friend, Rod, is coming over again so we can watch it together.  He is bringing the popcorm today and we have some homemade chili that we will have for lunch.  Then at 3:30 the Georgia Bulldogs play the University of Tennessee and tonight the Atlanta Braves play the Astros in Houston.  So will be a full sports day.  Sometime today we are going to have to make the trip to pick up my daughter's car as it is suppose to be ready today.  They did the touch-up painting yesterday.

We have had over 6 inches of rain since it started a couple of days ago but think it is over now.  However, it is still cloudy and around 61 degrees.  We just opened up the house again and I have a sweather on.  I hope we have a little sunshine later today.

JudyB, it sounds like you had a busy day yesterday.  Your Thanksgiving meal sounds great, especially all the homegrown things that will be on your table.

Pat, hope the rain has stopped up your way so your deck can get started.

Nita, glad you are comfortable with having your granddaughter move in with you.  I am sure you enjoy the company and having someone else in the house with you.

Ruth, Hope you are able to get your pictures where you want them.  If you have them in a folder you should be able to click on them and see them.

Marilyn, sorry to hear your knee is bothering you again.  You must have done too much cleaning or lifting in your move.

Papa John, you are so right in terms of the blessings we have because we know Jesus Christ.  You all are a bit cooler than we are down here.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Etta Sue

JudyB ~ Geesh, the farmer doesn't even get $10 for 4 stalks of corn...not even in US money.  Really, I want the corn down but then my yard will be filled with cornfield debris.  The picker throws out the stuff except corn...cobs, leaves, stalks...and the wind picks it up and then it is everywhere.  But you can SEE!!

Nita ~ You must have revolving bedrooms at your place.  But I know it is nice to have someone in the house to talk too and be responsible for...I know, the dogs...they do the job just fine...but you know what I mean, don't ya?

Pat ~ Is your deck started?  They did my deck is a week.  Hope yours goes just as fast.

Marilyn ~ I never ate Top Ramen until Jerry introduced them to me but they are good.  I have them every once in a while.  Fast and easy!!!

Ruth ~ I hope you figure out your camera and downloading pictures to your computer.  I am still learning mine plus doing other stuff on the pc.  Never ending job.

Kon ~ It is good to see you posting on NEM.  As you can tell, this is where we chat to each other.

Papa John ~ Cold here, too.  45° right now.  I can't believe how the colors changed on my Tulip Tree over night.  It was green and brown...today green, brown, yellow and orange.  Amazing how God paints the world.

Larry ~ Enjoy your games today with your friend.  I know it is much better watching games on TV with someone else who enjoys them with you.  Are you rooting for the same teams?

Today I want to go to the bazaar at Methodist Church in Lapel and then to my 60 Chix luncheon.  And maybe this afternoon go to my cousins for a wiener roast.  But it may be too cold for that.  I will see.

Good  Morning, I am going to a Union Meeting this morning then taking Gilbert to Lunch at the Oriental Buffet for his birthday, I am sure he won't want mt to take his gift into the restaurant so I will give it to him outside.

Pat thanks for the devotional today. Yes I have met "the Man".

Everyone seems to have got here  before me this morning JudyB, Papa John, Nita, Larry, Etta Sue, those that have posted since I was here last night.

I woke up with a headache this morning  so I took an Ibuprofen (Prescription strength) and an Ultram. Hope it goes away before I have to leave here. Corky from next door is riding with me as she is also a caregiver and belongs to the Union.

Well must now finish fixing my hair it is now dry and cooled off from the curling iron.

Have a great day all y-all.

Janet

And now it is 8:30 central daylight savings time!

I got home around 6:30, after a wonderful, God-blessed women's conference, rubbing elbows with several hundred beautiful Kansas Christian women.  We had a really good group there from our small church, and we all had a great time.  It does one's spirit good to come away from the busy-ness of life and just spend time with the Master.  I am so thankful I could go.

I am going to meet Diane halfway and pick up Abby.  Her parents are going somewhere for 3 days, so we will finally get that Grandma/Abby time she has been wanting so much.  I will take her home after church tomorrow night, spend the night with her, then get her off to school on Monday.  Then I can come home or stay there.

Oops!  ::)  She just called, so I gotta run!  See you next time!
