"...with thanksgiving,
let your requests
be made known to God..."

Eph. 4:6

It's Thanksgiving Day in Canada!

Psalm 85:10.  "Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed."

God is so good, so gracious, so kind - that any rebellion against Him is monstrous.  It deserves everlasting wrath.  How then can any human being endure the totally destructive wrath of God?  Mercy!  Mercy is forbearance in the face of provocation, and we humans have provoked God by ignoring Him and going our own way.  But the mercy of God doesn't mean He forbears justice - He cannot do so.  No, mercy and truth (justice) have met together; righteousness (justice again) and peace have kissed!  How?  "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."  (2 Cor. 5:21) The Cross of our blessed Lord is the answer!
Oh praise Him, and praise Him again!  It's no wonder that Paul said, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God - which is your reasonable service." (Rom. 12:1)

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
(Click to hear music)

May I never boast except
in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 6:14

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707. Charles Wesley reportedly said he would give up all his other hymns to have written this one.
Music: "Hamburg," Lowell Mason, 1824; first appeared in The Boston Handel and Haydn Society Collection of Church Music, third edition, 1825

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o'er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

[Added by the compilers of Hymns Ancient and Modern]

To Christ, Who won for sinners grace
By bitter grief and anguish sore,
Be praise from all the ransomed race
Forever and forevermore.

Good - it is Thanksgiving in Canada. Happy Holiday to all of you in Canada.  Are you having turkey for dinner?   I am listening to today's song and it sounds like thunder and birds singing in the background also - very different.

It is Columbus Day here and I am sure the parade in Denver will have protests again - they have not even had the parades for quite some time - the AIM - American Indian Movement wants the word Columbus taken out of the day & I am sure that it will be some day.  Anything to appease the protesters.

We are having company come through on Saturday/Sunday and they are concerned about snow in our area - funny, as they live in Minnesota and will be visiting in the mountains here as well.  But - it is a long drive to the airport from here so I know they don't want to go in any storm - this heavy weather should be over by tomorrow.

Thank  you Nita for your kind words about Gloria. It is difficult for a caregiver/friend to be separated from the fact that  we have cared for the client/patient and become like family to them. Especially when the client/patient had no one close to them other than the caregiver. I know you understand the emotional connection to that person.

Last night I dreamed  that I was there with her at the hospital when she passed over. But I was not there and I didn't even know she had gone home on Friday until yesterday when her cousin called the church and someone else told me as I came in the door.

I know she was difficult to get along with at times and mean at times but that is all part of the symptoms of her emotional distress and my not understanding what the illness had done to her.

GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE

Yes it is THANKSGIVING IN CANADA!

I had turkey, ham, potatoes, squash, brussel sprouts, broccolli bake, carrots, cranberry sauce and for dessert, apple crisp, cake, ice cream.  Wow, now I can't do up my clothes.  Oh well, it was a wonderful day with family and I am thankful to the Lord for His love and mercies are new every morning.

God Bless

Marilyn ~ So sorry to hear about your friend, Gloria.  I know her life was enriching knowing God and you.  She is at peace now...no illness...no pain.

Lots to do today.  I need to go to the bank but now I am wondering if the bank is open since it is Columbus Day.  Bet it isn't.  Well, better not sign my check until I know it is open.  I am doing some laundry and I need to do some house cleaning.  Then tonight I am going with Kitty to the Killbuck Photography Guild.  There are two members that have been into photography for over 50 years and they are going to talk about 'then and now' in photography!

A little nippy out there today...54°F!

Welcome new people!!!!  Hope to get to know you, soon

Happy Thanksgiving, Canada!!!!!

My shift at work just ended, so I am going to get my little ones.  If I get a chance, I'll upload a pic I took of them last week.  Not a lot of "photographic/artistic" merit, but it is cute. :)

Laters,  take care!

Liz

How nice that so many remembered our 'special' day.
I baked a pumpkin pie and whipped the cream.  Will go upstairs to have dinner with the kids.  Can smell the turkey cooking and yumm!

Another rain day....Guess that can be expected for the next l-o-n-g while :(

Here is a silly little poem for those who might be interested:  (turkey's view of Thanksgiving)

Thankful

Week before Thanksgiving,
I limp around real strange.
Huddle in the corner,
As though I have the mange.

All the other turkeys,
Just gobble, gobble on.
I'm silent, and I act
As if my gobbler's gone.

Everyone is thankful
On Thanksgiving Day.
Friday it's forgotten.
You all go on your way.

I know what thankful is
So listen when I say.
"It's great to be a turkey,
After Thanksgiving Day."

      ;)

God Bless.

Liz

Well we have a nice cloudy day here in Nashville, Tennessee with the temperature at 63 degrees.  Cornelia and I have just taken our neighborhood walk, she walking and me riding my scooter.  My scooter is the Auto-go Vision which you can see here:  http://www.ultralite.biz/#

Our grandchildren who have been visiting with us left this morning.  Ruth who is our medical student left yesterday afternoon.  Our daughter Beth, and her husband, James, these granddaughters' parents are visiting in southern France.  He was over there on business and she joined him for a few days vacation.

Ruthie says:
QuoteI had turkey, ham, potatoes, squash, brussel sprouts, broccolli bake, carrots, cranberry sauce and for dessert, apple crisp, cake, ice cream.  Wow, now I can't do up my clothes.   Oh well, it was a wonderful day with family and I am thankful to the Lord for His love and mercies are new every morning.

Glad you had a good Canadian Thanksgiving.  And a happy Thanksgiving Day to all of you who live in that great country to our north.

Nita

It's pretty quiet this Thanksgiving/Columbus day.

Liz your Day After Thanksgiving Day was cute.  Everybody has a point of view.  Turkeys count. :)

Kim, Angel and I went to the fabric store today.  Kim got her some sheer fabric to make a draping around her bed, or somewhere......not sure.  She's sure getting her room just the way she wants it.  Last night I went up before I went to bed, and she was already sound asleep.  I looked around at her knick knacks, scarfs, colored lights, pictures of friends, stuffed animals.  She had a candle burning which gave a soft light.  I thought she looked like a princess. :)  (I also blew out the candles and warned her about it this morning.  She can have candles in jars and that's all.)  I could tell she felt such peace......and that blesses me.  Things had been pretty bad for her at home.  That room up there has blessed a lot of people. :)  It was once my prayer room....(remember, Jane?) and now it seems to be a safe place.  I feel Angel's peace beginning already.

We are having a nice day.  Sunnier earlier but somewhat overcast now.  I keep thinking of the luscious Autumn colors that must be up the river, along the banks, but haven't gotten there yet.  I also think of the price of gas. lol

Blessings,    nita

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, CANADA!!

B-r-r-r-r-r-r!! It has been raining here all day; a wonderful, slow soaking rain, just exactly what we need.  But it does feel cold! I am in Hugoton with Abby since last night, and will be until sometime tomorrow night.  I'm glad Jeff has a computer!  (I usually used Mark's while here, but of course it went to college with him.)

Marilyn, I'm sorry to hear about Gloria, but so happy you led her to the Lord before she died.  That is ultimately the only thing that matters for eternity.

Papa John, I'm sure you are having a great time with the granddaughters all around you, and the little great grand as well.  It's all about relationships, isn't it?  At our conference last weekend, we talked quite a lot about relationships.

Pat, I am sending you a PM---hope you look in tonight!

Nita, how fun, to get togethere with family and make music!!  :)

Hey there, Karma!  I look forward to seeing those pics of your little ones.

I wonder if it is raining in Topeka, where Abby's parents went....??

THANKS BE TO OUR LORD!!!
My x-rays this morning showed that bone is beginning to form in the break. So, he bound the ankle tightly with ace bandage, then put me in a nice, warm to-the-knee walking boot. He cautioned me to stay in the wheelchair and on crutches for the next 3 weeks until he sees me again. Also, he's asking the representative to exchange the big bone stimulator (big enough to fit over the cast) for a smaller one.

Our God answers prayer. Praise His Name.

Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  This has been pretty much of a lost day for me as didn't feel well last night and most of today.  Think I had a little touch of congestive heart failure and now apparently my body has been able to overcome it.  My cardiologist said that often happens.  I was short of breath last night and slept with my head elevated.  I have rested most of the day but now feel human again so think this episode is over.

Marilyn, sorry to hear of your friend, Gloria, passing.  I know you become very attached to those you care for but suppose this is one of the downsides of the type of job you have.  I am sure that she appreciated your good care, even when she was being difficult with you.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving.  Ruthie, I am concerned that you just didn't have a thing to eat on your table.  My goodness, what a feast--sounds great.

Carol, I saw on the news where the Denver area had a lot of snow today with roads closed.  Hard to believe it is that time of year already.

Etta Sue, I am pretty sure the banks were closed today.  Glad you remembered that before you made the trip.  Hope the photography event was very beneficial.

Liz, that was a cute poem about the turkey.

Papa John, it has been cool and overcast all day in our area.  Hope we see the sun tomorrow.

Nita, nice to read that your granddaughter is settling in and finding peace of mind with you.  Glad you checked on her and found the candle as that could have been really bad.

Janet, it sounds like you are having a little time to yourself while tending Abby.  Hope you are getting some rest.

Ruth Ann, good to see that your foot is beginning to heal a bit.  My daughter-in-law had foot surgery a few days ago and is now in a cast to her knee.  I think the cast is giving her the fits.  We loaned her a jelled cold wrap and apparently that is helping with the itching.

We made the trip to pickup my daughter's car today but it wasn't ready as they had to put on the clear coat of paint where they repaired the dents.  It should be ready tomorrow.  I at least have a phone number to call now.  The one that was listed in the phonebook is out of service and they apparently rely on cellphones now.

Sue

Hello everyone!

Marilyn, I'm sorry to hear about Gloria's passing.  I'm sure this will leave a void in your heart for a little while.

RuthAnn, how wonderful that your ankle is healing!  It sounds like the anke is as difficult to heal from a break as the wrist can be.  Make sure that you follow Doctor's orders!  I for one do not care to hear about a set-back at this point in time.    ;D

Pat, were you able to have any work done on the deck?

I haven't had the computer on for a few days, and boy oh boy, the emails and postings to read.......  ::)  Got caught up though.

I was out Friday evening with my father to pick up a bed from my girlfriend and were unable to fit the boxspring into my dad's pickup.  It was left that perhaps one day this coming week he and my mother would go and get it with the van (then it could be strapped to the roofracks).  Imagine my surprise when my dad called on Saturday evening and asked me to give my girlfriend a call and find out if "tonight" was close enough to next week to count.  My girlfiriend was estactic.  She could now begin to get her liviing room in order (this is where the bed was stored since their move 6 weeks ago).

We celebrated our dinner yesterday, and there were salad, 4 stuffed and cooked chickens, potatoes, rutabaga, acorn/pepper squash, peas, buns, butter, milk, and for dessert my mother brought pumpkin pie, whipped cream, and a lemon merangue cake.  I also can thank my mother for the preparation of the squash.  There were 7 present around the table and I am so thankful that I was able to have my family around me.

Today was a relaxing day, didn't get a darn thing done, but I feel rested and relaxed.  Perhaps will be heading out for a cup of tea shortly, but maybe not.  Might just make one here at home!

Sounds llike all the Canadians had a good turkey day.  Soon to be Christmas. Now that is a chilly thought.

Usually Melaura puts up the outside lights on Thanksgiving Monday as the weather gets so cold from here on.  It (the lights) was not done today so I will have to remind her tomorrow.

Tomorrow is to be a busy day.  I have a trip to N Bay planned.  I need to pick up a childs coat pattern for Drake.  I made John a ultra warm top last year to help combat the cold and with the material left Bonnie has asked me to make a jacket for Drake.  It will be fun to do.

Ruthie You will have to pass on the recipe for the brocalli bake!  That is one way I have to try for brocalli.

Well the holiday is over far too soon.  Have a good night folks and back to the regular routine tomoorrow.

I'm late, but it's still "today" ... I just wanted to stop by and let y'all know that I've been around but just in one of my quieter moods.

Yes, Nita, I know about that upper room ... it has truly been a blessing to many, and I know Angel will feel His presence there as well.  It is good that she has such a safe place to be totally at peace.  God has been so good to us all ... one and all ... What an AWESOME God we serve!

Some friends came by yesterday evening and cut the wood that I had stacked out back.  Larry says "It won't even take you through November"  but I know that my Father will supply all my needs ... and I don't need it today!

Marilyn, I truly understand what you must be feeling with Gloria's homegoing.  We rejoice that one has made it home, but we also feel the loss of a close relationship.  It is only natural  ... God will give comfort as we lean into Him.   Bless you for all that you do for others.

I have been shocked and saddened to read of the death of a friend at Seniornet.  It is always an awakening when another goes on home ... brings to mind that we all are only a breath awey from being in His presence for eternity.  Sobering thought.

Larry, it is good that you are feeling better after yesterday and last night.  Please take care of yourself -- I know you do -- I have you and Pat in my prayers daily.  God is our strength and health ... Bless you, brother.

I don't have a lot to say,so I guess I'd best not keep y'all up ... I'll be back <sometime>

Jane

Welcome Moria, it is nice to see you posting.  Just join in and you will soon feel that you have known us a long time.

Today I feel like a totally different person and guess my body took care of the CHF by late yesterday afternoon.  I feel like I want to get something done today.  As soon as my wife and daughter get back from the school this morning we are going to go to Kaiser and get our flu shots and Pat has a prescription to pick up.  Hopefully by that time our daughter's car will be ready and we can go on from their to pick it up.

It was sunny this morning until a little while ago and I see it has now become overcast again.  Hopefully that will burn off in a little while.

Jane, glad you were able to get your wood ready for burning.  It will soon be time for the heating even here in the south.  We are enjoying a few days without having either AC or heating going.

JudyB, it sounds like you are quite a seamstress and able to make anything you set your mind to.  That is a wonderful skill and talent, especially since you seem to enjoy doing it.

Sue, glad your dad was able to get the rest of the bed set and I can understand your friend wanting to get it out of her living room.

Our son called last evening and said he had had a call for an interview for a job on Wednesday.  This is the first interview he has gotten from the many applications he has been submitting.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Al Moak

Great to hear about the job interview, Larry - hope it's just what he wanted.  Anyone seen Janet yet today?  I got concerned because she was supposed to start the NEM today - wondered if she's ok.

Carol

Al:  I hope everything is well with Janet.

Larry:  Great news to hear that you are feeling better and your son has a first job interview....there will be more.

Welcome Moria!!!

Just finished the treadmill time and that gets to be a bore when I can't change the t.v. station -

We did finally find a good  gospel music station for the car radio.  I don't think we could get that station in the other vehicle, so it is a real "find".

Al I think Janet is still with Abby at her house.

Welcome Moria glad to see you posting here in NEM where we all meet each day.

Larry good to hear the the CHF took care of itself CHF is a dangerous thing to have, be sure that you do not over do just because you feel better, take it easy for a few more days.

Jane that was quite a post for someone with nothing much to say.  ;D, good that you got the wood cut and that your faith in our Father will bring you more wood. He is so good and ALWAYS comes through in our time of need.

Nita my place is way too small for even a little prayer area much less a prayer room ;)

I have already started a load of laundry to get done before I go to work and I am having my one and only cup of coffee before I fix my breakfast.

Carol that was quite a snow storm in your area, did you get a lot where you are too.?

Good Morning Everyone...

I've added 11 to Al's October 10 on the New Every Morning and we'll just use this till tonight.

Sorry Janet.  It was my Thanksgiving and I was up at Ian's so didn't get your PM at all.

Moriah, great to see you here.  For posting photos in the Gallery, the first step is to CREATE YOUR ALBUM and only you can do that.  I can do it for you if you have trouble if you send me your password and then I login as you.

But here are the steps and once you have these done, you can then create many albums like one for "Pets", "People", "Travel", "Black & White", etc.

Steps to Setting up Your Gallery on Christian Photographers

1. Click on "Gallery" (one of the buttons near the top of the main forum page between "Search" and "Help") and then "My Gallery"

2. Click on "Order / Create your Gallery"

3. Click "New"

4. In the text box where it says "New Album" change it to the name you want such as "Travel" or "Pets" or "Garden"

5. Click "Apply Modifications" (You'll be asked, "Are you sure you want to make these modifications") Click "OK"

6. Click "Continue"

7. Click on "Upload Picture" and browse to your photo (which you have resized to between 50K and 150K) that you wish to upload from your computer to your gallery.

8. Insert a Title and short Description and now you have the photo showing on Christian Photographers!

Please Note: If you get an error saying "No Image Uploaded" it may be because the the image is too large and may need resizing to a smaller image.

We ask that you limit your photo uploads to 4 per day.

If you have any questions, please click on my name on the site and drop me a Private Message.  At the present time, this service is free to all of our members.

Pat and The CP Community Team.

Marilyn, I'm sorry to read about Gloria.  You were a good friend to her.

Jane, I was shocked to hear about Eileen today.  I just spoke to her on the telephone last week as we were going to get together in Acton.  Sad with Tony being on dialysis and now on his own.

I won't mention more in name as I'll be sure to forget someone.  I had a wonderful Thanksgiving up at Ian's and little David is sure growing quickly and is the life of the party.  He kept on getting me to go outside to "...take Geordie out, Grandma.  He needs to go." and off we'd go with Geordie.  Of course Geordie loved all this attention.

I'll be back later.

Pat
