Morning Devotional

2 Cor. 4:6.  "For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness has shined into our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ."

Theologians tell us that God is incomprehensible.  It doesn't mean that He can't be known.  He can indeed be known, loved, and rejoiced in.  But He can never be fully known, fully understood.  When He reveals to us His loving character, we actually come to know quite truly a bit of His character, but we don't understand that love in its fulness.  In fact, though we know a little of His wondrous love, yet we do not - and cannot - fully comprehend it.  It is infinite, and holy, and wise, and powerful - and we simply can't take it all in.

So it is also for His power, His holiness, His goodness - or any of His other attributes.  We can and should come to know God as He truly is, but we can never know Him in all His infinitude, because we are but creatures, and He is "God over all, blessed forever."

All that can be known of God is to be seen in His Son, Jesus Christ.  We may know and love and appreciate God as He is revealed to us when we begin a true relationship with Jesus Christ (Col. 2:9).

How Great Thou Art
(Click to hear music)

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Chorus

Good Morning all ANd AL thankyou for the devotional.

This will be a full day, I am wanting to clean up the garden and get the last of the veggies in.  Then I have pickles to put down and some freezing to do.

Things have changed in the school system with the lunch perioda.  Instead of one lunch during the day they now have two.  This means I have to provide two full lunches.  They have also specified the type of food to be taken.  2 milks, 2 - 4 veggie/fruits, 2 proteins and of coourse carbs.  Also they cannot talk any kind of nut dish, as there is a student with alergies.   As a result the girls are refusing breakfast, and want their cereal to go to school with them.  I personally don't feel 2 lunch perioda is healthy because they are missing breakfast at home, but you know you cannot fight the system.

John will be leaving in a couple of minutes, he has a late delivery tomorrow.  It has been nice having him leave later.

Well gotta go.

Bless all of you
Judy

Marilyn

Good Morning, Thanks Al for the devotional this morning.

I am feeling much better today, and I even slept well last night and awoke at 4:04 am but staying in bed until 5:15am  So evidently I did something right yesterday, now if I only knew what it was. Today I only have to go to Fay's then I will stop at K-mart to get some cough drops and decongestant tablets and come back home to rest  and stay inside. However I will use all the natural stuff again before I go to work.  Starting with the Garlic.

I have been asked to be an altar worker at the revival so that is something I must also prepare myself for (no Garlic  ::) ) fasting and prayer for the next two days.

I hope everyone is doing well. Hello to all who enter in today. I pray each of you will have a blessed day.

Well, Alma, only God knows what I'm really going to do today, but I do have plans.  Gotta go to the docs office for some sample meds, gotta get a blood test, gotta go fix a jury summons, gotta get gas, gotta go to the Cedit Union, gotta call my chiropracter to get an appointment for a fellow at church who is indigent, and gotta go use the fitness center for my daily mile on the treadmill.  May God bless every one here to do all the things He wants us to do.  Amen.

Hi everyone.  My son joined us for coffee this morning and then he and my friend Rod went to Fry's to see about a new motherboard for my daughter's comptuer.  Decided it would be more expensive going that route than buying the $190 computer that comes with a LInux operating system.  We will use her copy of Windows XP to replace that system and are using a number of hte componetns like her CD burner, wireless card, and floppy disk drive.  I will have to get another 128 megs of memory as you need 256 to run Windows XP and it came with only 128 megs.  Of course, it is different than the memory she had in the other computer.  My son just went home to see if he had any memory that will work before I have to buy some and to get a couple jumper pins he needs.  So hopefully before too long she will be up and operating again.  I did not need the expense of buying another computer at this time but she needs it as will be starting back into her schooling next week or the week after.

Marilyn, glad to see you are feeling better after a good nights rest.  Janet, so sorry to see that the pipe didn't hold and you had soaked flooring again.  You all must have been beside yourselves.  I think it is good you have to go away next week as that will give you a break and hopefully you will be over the sore throat.

JudyB, don't envy you taking care of the little kittens but sure they must really be cute.

Al, sometimes I wonder that I have any blood left as it seems like I have to have some drawn about every week.  Hopefully that will slow down after tomorrow.

Alma, I know you are looking forward to your two weeks in Hawaii.  Hope you all have just a marvelous time and soak up some warmth to tide you over during the upcoming winter months when you have a lot of snow.  Are you still taking care of your horses?

Pat, it is pleasant to have friends stop by to share of cup of coffee or tea.  Having meet you in person, as well as talking and working with you over the years, I can certainly understand why they like to do so.  Wish we lived close enough that you could stop by and have a cup of tea with us.  Maybe someday.

Sue, it sounds like you all had a delightful weekend.  The local county fair is starting here this week.  We have never attended as I no longer have the strength and Pat isn't able to walk very much.  However, they have some large crowds and great shows.

Papa John, that little Elsie has you wrapped right around her little smile.  I am so glad you are able to see the precious child and enjoy her so much.  I think we are going to have to find a way to make a trip to Kansas City to see our granddaughter and the three little great grandchildren we have.  I hope Pat and I will both feel up to making the trip later this year.  I wouldn't be surprised if my granddaughter didn't move to upstate New York as that is where his family lives.  They really have no reason to stay in Kansas City.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  It is certainly a beautiful one here in Georgia.  I love these early fall days.

Janet

Good morning, if it's still morning in your part of the world.

I am really bummed today.  MAYBE I got 30 minutes' sleep last night, and I feel like I'm walking around in a fog.  :(

Darrel discovered this morning that the roof also is coming loose, water has been coming in all along the outside edges, and the floor is rotted about two feet out from the walls almost the entire length of the trailer.  We are about ready to just strike a match and burn the heap down. >:(

Beth called a while ago and says she is not doing well at all.  She can hardly bend her legs, and is hurting bad---feet, head, neck.  I gave her her doctor's # in Amarillo and told her to call him and see what he advises her to do.  I can't help her from here, and wouldn't know what to do if she were here.  Right now, I am very happy she isn't here!  No one could live in her trailer now, anyway.

Larry, what kind of schooling is your daughter taking?  And I will remember to keep you in my prayers tomorrow.

I am going to do a little cleaning on MY house.  I have been letting it slide while working on Beth's, and it is beginning to show it.

Etta Sue, where are you?  I miss your cheery post.  But maybe you did post yesterday.  I'm not really "with it" today.

Can you use a little smile today?  I know for sure I need one!

Is this human nature or what??????

Pedro was driving down the street in a sweat because he had an important meeting and couldn't find a parking place. Looking
up toward heaven, he said "Lord, take pity on me. If you find me a parking place I will go to Mass every Sunday for the rest of my
life and give up tequila."

Miraculously, a parking place appeared. Pedro looked up again and said "Never mind. I found one."

Papa John

Hello. I am stopping here for just a minute. Everything went well in the surgery this morning. It was a piece of cake --- so far. Anyway we are home just in time for me to take a nap. I am doing fine but a little tired and I just want to stay in and be still. We have to be back to see the doctor at 7:30 tomorrow morning.

Etta Sue

Thanks, Janet, for missing me but I didn't even turn on the computer yesterday.

Saturday evening was the wedding and I stood while waiting for the newlyweds to exit the church and leave for the reception.  Neat, each of us were given helium balloons and when they drove away in a Pontiac GTO, everyone released their balloon.  Then at the reception, I stood in line for the food.

I have found that just standing does something to the nerves in my back and causes hip/leg pain.  When I went to bed Saturday night, my left thigh was hurting.

Then I got to church Sunday at 7 a.m.  Stood until first service at 8:30 a.m. and stood even then while singing.  Then stood between services...9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.  The last service I sat at the very back and did not stand during the singing.  Then when that service was over I stood again until 12:30 p.m. when I left church.  I ate at Arby's and all the way home, I was thinking how great it would be to lie down and sleep.  I did that...as much as possible with Inky in the house.  My thigh even hurts in the recliner.  When I am still it doesn't hurt but just trying to scoot my leg over an inch, it hurts.

Bed last night was torture...I have to get up about every 2 hours for the bathroom and when I woke up, it was a challenge to figure a way out of bed so my thigh hurt the least.

I planned to stay home all day but my SIL called and asked when we could all go out for my birthday so I said today.  We all went out for Chinese and now I am home again.  My thigh still hurts but not as much, I don't think.  But I really don't think I could get on my mower and drive.  Hurts too much.

Oh, well!  It just isn't fun getting old!

Papa John ~ I was thinking earlier that you would be having your surgery today.  Glad that everything went well!

Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
(Click to hear music)

"He was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!' Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. 'You of little faith,' He said, 'why did you doubt?'" Matthew 14:29-31

Words: Elisha A. Hoffman, in The Glad Evangel for Revival, Camp, and Evangelistic Meetings (Dalton, Georgia: A. J. Showalter & Company, 1887).
Music: Anthony J. Showalter--Showalter wrote this tune and words to the refrain after hearing from two friends whose wives had died, and asked Hoffman to write the remaining lyrics.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

The day is wearing on, and we are still on page one.  But quality counts, doesn't it?  ;)

I am feeling a little better; taking antibiotic for my throat, plus C and zinc.  I got my floors all cleaned--swept, mopped or vacuumed as dictated.  ;D  I stayed out of the mess today; but the guys are having a time. >:(

But some good news, too!  Pastor's wife called me and they want to rent Darrel's mobile in town for her mother.  And the guys from the church will come and help get it fixed up!  Can't beat a deal like that!  ;D  The last renters trashed it; after we had totally renovated it a year before.  We were so disheartened that we haven't done anything, and it has stood empty for three years now.

Abby called to say her open house at school is tonight, but I don't think I should go, as I am worried about falling asleep driving, after no sleep last night.  She won't be happy with her Grandma. :'(

Etta Sue, I'm sorry about all your pain.  That was an awful lot of standing!  Maybe you can figure out a way not to have to stand so long in church in the future.  We want to keep you around and in good health!

Glad you are feeling better, Marilyn.

Now it is your turn Janet to get some rest. It is time for you to just stop doing anything and just rest yourself. How doyou expect tog et well if you don't rest, drink plenty of fluids, that is what I am doing today all fluids except for one tortill with some cheese in it (quesadilla) and some Top Ramen for breakfast. I am trying to clean this cold out of my system.

Marilyn, I pray that you get rid of that cold and SOON!

Janet, such a shame that Beth's trailer is in such rough shape.  It must be even harder for you to know that she is in pain and hurting and so far away from you that you can't help her.

Two great hymns today and a wonderful devotion, thank you!

Larry, computers.....aren't they fun  ::)

Tomorrow at the store, we get the new computer system and those of us who are scheduled to be in are very nervous about it.  The manager is too a little, but said that she is confident we will be fine because she has such great staff to help get through the day.  Made me feel good.  After my day tomorrow, I now also have an interview for a full-time position.  I just received that invitation about a half hour ago.  I am in such a good mood!  It is amazing what some rest and relaxation can do!  Now to get some laundry and housework done.....those chores for some strange reason never seem to go away.......  :o

Marilyn

Congratulations Sue on your upcoming interview. Is it at the same place you work oh tell us more.

Sue, that is good news and hope you will be offered the full-time job.

Janet, Beth's place doesn't sound very safe.  I am surprised she had noted the water leaking in.  Sure sorry that she isn't feeling at all well while she is away.  I hope you will be able to sleep tonight so will feel better tomorrow.

Etta Sue, next time sit down.  That pain isn't any fun.

Papa John, glad to see your cataract surgery is now behind you and that went so well.  I am sure you will enjoy seeing better.

Well our computer project went very well.  My son did have an extra 128 megs of memory that we needed so I didn't have to buy anymore.  We reformatted the new hard disk and installed my daughter's copy of Windows XP, the Service Pack and after getting the new McAfee Virus Scan and Firewall installed that our cable provider is now making available as a part of our service, we got Windows XP updated.  We used several things from the old computer, including the CDROM RW drive and her old hard drive, which worked fine as the slave drive.  I certainly hope this will be a very serviceable computer for her.  It is unbelievable that she has a new computer for $190.

Well it is getting late.  I wasn't able to rest today so should sleep well tonight.  We will have to get up early tomorrow as we leave for the hospital at 6:30, which is the beginning of rush hour around the Atlanta area.  I need to be at the hospital by 8 am.  They called to pre-register me today.

I won't be posting tomorrow but should be back sometime on Wednesday and will try to stop by and post.

Larry, Beth's place isn't safe, but will be again in a few days.  The guys are making good progress on it.
