Morning Devotional

Dan. 2:20.  "Daniel answered and said:  'Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His.'"  Rom. 11:33.  "Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out!"

Knowledge is the ability to understand facts.  Wisdom is the ability to respond to knowledge appropriately and effectively.  God is omniscient - He perfectly knows all facts.  God is also the very standard of wisdom.  From all eternity He has known exactly how to best respond to all aspects of His knowledge.

We, on the other hand, don't have either all knowledge nor much wisdom.  And our fall into sin made it nothing but tougher - we now have the strong tendency to respond wrongly in the situations we face in our lives.  But - enter Christ our Savior!  We read, "But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God--and righteousness and sanctification and redemption"  Trust Him!  He will lead you if you ask Him. (1 Cor. 1:30

Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/cwmrhondda.mp3)
(Click to hear music)

Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
Psalm 73:24

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim thro' this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy pow'rful hand;
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more,
Feed me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through;
Strong Deliv'rer, strong Deliv'rer,
Be Thou still my strength and shield,
Be Thou still my strength and shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death, and hell's destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan's side;
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever give to Thee,
I will ever give to Thee.

Al:  Thanks for the devotional.

We had rain for most of the night and it is still raining now so as I head out to work I will either dodge between rain drops or use an umbrella.  My BIL called last evening ( he lives farther north Judy B) he said that it had been raining quite hard all day, they are in need of the rain as they had a very dry summer.

Marilyn: Thought you might enyoy the e-mail.
  I have packed boxes with items that I no longer use In fact I have another ready to be packed it will be full of tea pots, I  store them in the garage,as most items were given to me as gifts  I do not have the heart to give them away.

I trust that you all have a great day.

Yesterday at church service Pastor's message was titled "From the Upper Room to Every Room" He is preaching a series on the New Testament Church. That is what he is trying to get started in our church. After service he gave each of us a Worship CD that he made up for us of all contemporary worship songs.

At prayer meeting last evening he played the CD and told us just to bask in the presence of God and let God deal with us individually and to pray as we each wanted to pray. He only gave us one request and that was to pray for the church.

I have not been able to reach Gloria ever since the Pastor told us she was not feeling  well. I called her 3 days in a row and finally decided to call both hospitals and see if she had been admitted. I found her in ICU, she told me that at first they thought it was congestive heart failure but later found that  something is attacking her lungs and it appears like CHF and her body is also attacking itself. They do not know the cause yet. They have her on heavy doses of steroids. Please pray for her.

This is getting long so I will return later.

Good morning All!

I have been busy making movies with Windows Movie Maker.  I didn't even know I had it on my pc until Kitty said I did.  I have put all my photos of the 45th Class Reunion in a movie after enhancing my photos with text right on the picture so viewers can see who is who.  Now to duplicate the CD's and get mailers to mail them to out-of-state classmates.  I have been having fun.

Still working with my camera...I still haven't put any pics on my pc.

Going to the DDS at 10 a.m. and tonight is Small Groups.  We are studying the Book of James.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Etta Sue - I hope we get to see some pix from you and your new cam soon!  Love that graphic with the little kitty turning into the snarling cougar!  Don't send him my way.

Well, gotta eat, then go to the fitness center for a half hour on the treadmill this morning.  May our God help us all to walk with Him today.

Al:  Thanks for the devotions and the understanding of knowledge and wisdom.

My turn for the treadmill.  We have had one in the basement for years and so glad that we have it as there are many days of too much wind and winter will be coming.

Etta Sue:  That kitty/cougar caught my eye!!!!  Yes on eating good food at a very good price.

Jane:  You have such a good outlook on the life and times of your daughter and losing her - my prayers for you at this time.

Hi Everyone...

I just woke up from a nap.  I didn't even mean to sleep but guess I'm still tired from Saturday night (or I should say Sunday morning!)

Had an appointment at 1 this afternoon and came home and laid down almost immediately.

Great to have Janet home now, isn't it?  We both had a lovely chat with Mieka on Yahoo.

Have to run out for a few minutes but I'll be back.

I SENT THIS TO MY PASTOR AFTER HIS SERMON THIS SUNDAY:

As you know, my hearing is not that good.  This morning when you were reading off the ticks points at the end of the sermon I was filling in the blanks ahead of time as I tend to do (right-brained)   I was ahead of you by two tick points..."Jesus"....I was filling in the last one.....

As you were reading "Jesus washing the tired and often misdirected feet of the disciples."  My ears heard:  "Jesus washing the tires........" WHAT ?  Very quickly, I returned to the correct tick point to read what I thought I had just heard.  Man....I was wrong.....again

Then I got to thinking, if Jesus were here today He might be washing tires instead of feet.  It is a dirty job and one that often goes undone.

I'm from another time when tires had white sidewalls.  White sidewalls were the hardest thing to keep clean.  A scouring pad, some Bon Ami cleansing powder....bending over & lots of elbow grease...soon the tires gleamed white again, devoid of the dirty rub marks from scraping the curbs or whatever.

I grew to dislike that part of washing my car and soon they were almost as black as the tires themselves.

Then a new product hit the market.  Bleach-White was its name and after a small application of it's liquid on a clean cloth, a little rubbing and the sidewalls were as white as they day they left the factory.

Draw a parallel to what Jesus does in our life.  He takes the dirty sidewalls (our lives), and with His death on the cross & resurrection, He scrubs off the rub marks (our sins) and transforms them (us).  They(we) are now as white as the fresh fallen snow.

Fast Eddie, that was a gool analogy.  I like it when we can find parallels to spiritual truths in the mundane or special events of our lives.

Yes, It was so fun to get to talk to Mieka!!  I miss that girl!

My friend Pat came out today and she and I spent the entire afternoon cleaning on Beth's house.  Still not done, not by a long shot!  But we are wiping down every surface with Pine Cleaner, followed by a liberal application of liquid wood oil.  Lots of hard work.
Beth will be home a week from Wednesday.

I had a friend who used to say if you don't get anything done on Monday, you won't get anything done all week.  This should be a week of accomplishment for me!

I hope to find time later this week to work on my photos from the trip and post a few.

Boy, am I tired.  I think I will take a couple of Tylenol and rest a bit.

Hi everyone.  I see it has been a quiet day here on CP.  It has been a cloudy day with some sprinkles but no amount of rain, at least in our area.  We sure need some rain as it has been almost a month since we have had rain.

My daughter went to see the chiropractor around 4 pm.  The phone rang and she said when she got there he wasn't there and that she had to put her car into the ditch to avoid being hit by a big truck.  She was awaiting the towing company to come and get her out of the ditch.  She didn't think there was any damage to the car so it may be they had more rain as this is probably 25 miles from here.  The tow company said it would be 90 minutes before they could get there.  Over the weekend her friend backed into the back of my daughter's car and cracked the tailglass and put a dent in her new car.  It seems she goes around under a little dark cloud as every car she gets seems to get banged up.  Her friend is suppose to get her car fixed but we will see.  She didn't want it turned into her insurance company as she is a truck driver and was getting insurance on her truck.

My daughter is suffering a lot today with the neuropathy in her feet and legs and I really am concerned as to whether it is safe for her to be driving.  I don't think she is going to be able to do so too many more months as this dreadful disease progresses.  She saw the doctor last week and he told her that when a certain musle no longer works she will no longer be able to walk.  I am afriad her future isn't bright.

Sorry, I didn't mean the above to be a downer but just sharing my thoughts on the day.

I went to coffee and then after that took my daughter to get the three textbooks she needs for the two classes she has this term.  They only cost $256.  Ugh!!

Etta Sue, glad you have found out how to use the movie maker.  I am also anxious to see some of the pictures with your new camera.

Marilyn, sorry to read about Gloria being in ICU.  That sounds like a very frightening thing she is fighting.
Hope you find the cabinet you need tomorrow.

Eddie, I remember whitewalls.  We lived in the country on a dirt road so you can imagine how difficult it was to keep the car clean much less the whitewalls.

Pat, it sounds like you needed the rest.

Carol, I wish we had the room for a treadmill, even though I dislike using one alot.  I need to see if I can build up my tolerance for walking again now that I have the pacemaker.  I had to walk from the parking lot and up some long halls at the college this morning and while I made it OK I was left pretty tired.  I was ready for my afternoon nap.  :)

Ruth, hope the rain didn't interfer with your bus route.  Our schools didn't meet today and won't tomorrow as the governor asked schools to close for two days to save fuel in view of the hurricane's impact on the refineries that serve our area.  It raised quite a storm with the parents.

Al, thanks for the good devotional this morning.

Janet, you must be tired.  Bet you didn't know there were so many surfaces in her place.  :)

Yes, I am really tired, Larry.  I am about to fall asleep on my keyboard.

John just came on MSN to tell me Beth will be calling me in about 10 minutes.  I have news for her!

Larry, what is your daughter studying?  I sure know how you feel about her health problems-----and about the car problems, too.  We have been dealing with the same sort of thing with Beth for years, and now her health is really bad.  Sigh........... :( :'(  She is calling now, so be back later.

Hi, friends,

The trip back from Atlanta took 6 hours because of several wrecks in the Chattanooga area.

That, in turn, made me work later to get the 8 hours in today.

So, I'm a tired gal. Gonna turn in very early tonight, methinks.

Hi folks...

So nice to read your posts.

I slept most of the afternoon after I got back from the doctor's and now I had a short meeting and I'm just in and I'm still tired.  LOL

I have tomatoes to freeze too so I think I'll work on some of those this evening.

Janet, what a job you're doing on Beth's place.  You MUST be tired.

Talk to you later,

Pat

SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/surelygoodnessandmercy.mid)
(Click to hear music)
John W. Peterson, 1921-
Alfred B. Smith, 1916-1998

A pilgrim was I, and a'wandering,
In the cold night of sin I did roam,
When Jesus the kind Shepherd found me,
And now I am on my way home.

CHORUS:
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life;
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life.

He restoreth my soul when I'm weary,
He giveth me strength day by day;
He leads me beside the still waters,
He guards me each step of the way.

CHORUS:
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life;
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life.

When I walk thro' the dark, lonesome valley,
My Savior will walk with me there;
And safely His great hand will lead me
To the mansions He's gone to prepare.

CHORUS:
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life;
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life.

FINAL CHORUS:
And I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever,
And I shall feast at the table spread for me!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days, all the days of my life,
All the days, all the days of my life!

Just catching up on a few days of reading.

Marilyn, I'm so glad that your move went relatively smoothly and that only one item was forgotten.

Janet, so nice that you have a great visit with Soni and Mike.  I'm sorry to hear that your mother is not doing so well.  I want to see all the pictures.....you do such an excellent job of story-telling through your photos!

Pat, it was very special hearing and being a part of thousands singing many of the various songs throughout the evening.  A couple of the women around me had wonderful voices also.

RuthAnn, it is great to hear that you had a nice visit with your family.  Being able to do things that you haven't been able to (even if it was just a short period of inability) is a wonderful feeling.

Papa John......but but but....the concert wasn't over until midnight.....Pat couldn't get home any sooner..... ;D

Jane, ouch $1400?  that sure takes a wallop out of the budget!

Eddie, I too liked that analogy.

Larry, The trials of our children hurt us as much as them I think.  I never really understood this concept until a few years ago.  $256 for textbooks....I can believe it.  The cost here for them is often equal to the cost of the course itself.  At least the course is tax deductible...the texts are not.

EttaSue, where's the pics from your new camera....I personally would like to see some NOW   ;D

I finally made it home from the Gaither concert about 2 am and went straight to bed as I had to report to work for 9:30 am.  I made it, and after I had punched in was called in to the Supervisor's office.  I was nervous as I didn't think I had done anything wrong.  I was very pleasantly surprised.  I was offered some new duties in addition to those of being a cashier and will be in addition to my hours as cashier.  Possibly an addition 10 hours per week and I won't lose them should I find full time employment as the commitment is for a couple of hours on Thursday (at my convenience) and then again every Saturday at 5 am until finished.  Most likely I will have most Sundays off because of this.  I will be able to attend church much more frequently now!

I had a short day today and was to have met a friend for lunch and when I went to pick her up was told by the gatehouse attend that she wasn't home as had been taken to the hospital yesterday.  After contacting one of her daughter's I was told that she has emphasema and will likely be in hospital for a couple of days yet.  I then came home and have caught up on 3 days of email, and have been listening to the CD received at the Gaither concert.

I must head off to bed now though.  I have a very early start in the morning as my daughter has requested a ride to work because of car problems.  Not to mention the fact that this post is probably so long that nobody will want to read it anymore either..... ;D
