Morning Devotional...

John Gets into Trouble
John 3:22-36; Luke 3:19-20  NLT

   Afterward Jesus and his disciples left Jerusalem, but they stayed in Judea for a while and baptized there.

    At this time John the Baptist was baptizing at Aenon, near Salim, because there was plenty of water there and people kept coming to him for baptism. This was before John was put into prison. At that time a certain Jew began an argument with John's disciples over ceremonial cleansing. John's disciples came to him and said, "Teacher, the man you met on the other side of the Jordan River, the one you said was the Messiah, is also baptizing people. And everybody is going over there instead of coming here to us."

    John replied, "God in heaven appoints each person's work. You yourselves know how plainly I told you that I am not the Messiah. I am here to prepare the way for him--that is all. The bride will go where the bridegroom is. A bridegroom's friend rejoices with him. I am the bridegroom's friend, and I am filled with joy at his success. He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.

    "He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. I am of the earth, and my understanding is limited to the things of earth, but he has come from heaven. He tells what he has seen and heard, but how few believe what he tells them! Those who believe him discover that God is true. For he is sent by God. He speaks God's words, for God's Spirit is upon him without measure or limit. The Father loves his Son, and he has given him authority over everything. And all who believe in God's Son have eternal life. Those who don't obey the Son will never experience eternal life, but the wrath of God remains upon them."

John also publicly criticized Herod Antipas, ruler of Galilee, for marrying Herodias, his brother's wife, and for many other wrongs he had done. So Herod put John in prison, adding this sin to his many others.

   John, the author of this Gospel, has been demonstrating that Jesus is the true Son of God.

   Jesus sets before us the greatest choice in life.  We are responsible to decide today whom we will obey. (Joshua 24:15), and God wants us to choose him and life (Deuteronomy 30:15-20).  The wrath of God is God's final judgment and rejection of the sinner.

   To put off the choice is to choose not to follow Christ.  Indecision is a fatal decision.

It is really raining and storming hard here so I had better get out of here quick before the lights go out.

Glad I got the grass mowed yesterday and groceries in and don't have to go anywhere tomorrow!  Maybe the girls will let me sleep in...this is me talking late Wednesday night.

Since I've just now stopped by...wanted to write a few words...  This "new" job has been keeping me busy - I'm out driving all around East Texas during the day...and then in the evenings I'm working on "home" work! Doesn't leave much time for chatting on the computer!  Nor even photography.
Some recent news:
I did take the time to enter some pictures in the East Texas State Fair in Tyler, and won a blue ribbon for my Flaming Flamingo.

My church had me do the pictures for the church directory.

I'm moving to a mobile home I purchased the middle of October!  Looking forward to that.

I still have Bonz.

Texas has had some record breaking temperatures this past week after Rita blew by us. I thought that was gonna cool things off, but it didn't.  However, today they are promising a break from the heat.  I've become so pessimistic that I'll believe it when I see it!  (or feel it, as the case may be!)

Well, that's an update on me!  Hope all is fine with all of you...I miss seeing you online each morning!

Shalom.

Wow Pinkie great to see you here, you have been missed. What are you doing now? Working for the Home Health Nurses? Making house calls?

Last night I did not go to Bible study. Gilbert and the kids came over and brought Tuna Casserole with them. He put my cabinets together and I cooked the casserole and fed the kids. I still have to bolt the bathroom  cupboard to the wall. Earthquake country ya know.

Today I am taking Jan out and about to do some things like shopping and getting her hair cut. Then I will go to Versal's and deliver her laundry and do whatever need to be done there. She has caught a terrible cold that is in her chest. Pray for her.

Etta Sue Great devotional today. Thank you for  presenting the choice that each person has whether or not to follow Jesus.

Good to see Judy Mc's post in I'm New. Welcome back Judy. I sent you an email and it came back to me.

Hope everyone has a Blessed day

Good Morning Everyone!

We've just been through a "wild" night weather-wise.  Electricity was on and off all night.  It was garbage day today and lighter bags were blowing all the way down the road!

It's settled down quite a bit now but it's raining quite heavily.

It was wierd westher last night.  There were heavy winds up here in the north as well.  The rain was unperdictable as well.  When the girls went to school it was coming down heavy and for now has stopped.

I have freezing of veggies as well as laundry to do so not likely be back till late today.

Have a good day everyone

Good day, folks.  Yes, everyone seems to be getting "weather."  We need rain, badly, but it has cooled off, at least.  It is 45 degrees today.

I have my little painting class today, and need to figure out refreshments for a scrapbooking party tomorrow night.  Tomorrow will be busy, with the funeral and all.

I went to see Mom after my exercise this morning, and she seems to be back to her old self.  She said they are starting therapy on her leg today.  After four years, she wants to walk again.  :-\  I hope she can.

The vote on John Roberts is past the 3/4 majority now, so he will be sworn in as Chief Justice very soon.  I pray we can get another conservative on the court, but the forces of the liberal left will fight to the death to prevent it.  President Bush has so many problems!  He needs all our prayers.....daily!

Yikes!  A second man has been killed by a large crocodile while scuba diving in Australia!  :o

I gotta get busy!

Well, my wife has gone to her quilting group now, so I'm here all alone and without a car (that way I can't spend any on gas!)  It's very foggy here today - can't even hardly see the cross street 3 mobilhomes away from us.

I'm glad Judge Roberts is making it.  We ought to pray for him as well as the president.  And may God grant another even more conservative judge to be nominated - and agreed to.  That would indeed be a mercy.  God bless all.
-Al

My times are in Thy hand;
My God, I wish them there;
My life, my friends, my soul I leave
Entirely to Thy care.

My times are in Thy hand;
Whatever they may be,
In joy or pain; 'tho dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.

My times are in Thy hand;
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father's hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.

My times are in Thy hand;
Jesus, the Crucified;
Those hands my cruel sins had pierced
Are now my guard and guide.

My times are in Thy hand;
I'll always trust in Thee;
And, after death, at Thy right hand
I shall forever be.

G'Morning ...  Pat, I have never heard that hymn before, but I most certainly "own" it now!  I have committed my life and all that touches it into the Lord's hands ... the only place to be!!  Thanks.

I'm glad Jane that you enjoyed that.

I can still hear Jack humming that and it was precious to him.  It's become precious to me now and the words are so true.

Our times ARE in His hands if we are truly one of His!

Pat, thats a great song.  I was able to listen to it also. :)

I think I'd like to get a cheapie keyboard and attempt to create midis.  Pat, have you ever tried it?  I've downloaded a demo program for recording.(n'Track Studio)  I think I could do one track live, using my guitar, then add a midi track and combine.  Maybe. :)  It sounds fun, anyway.  I've had two different keyboards through the years and gave them both away.  Now I just have my guitar and piano.

All this bad weather!  Sun came up early this morning here. Strange, but it seems the earlier the sun comes up, the wetter the grass is in the morning.  I don't let my little critters go out until it's mostly dry, so I notice things like that.

Have a blessed day everyone.  nita

Nita, I have a midi keyboard that Ian gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago but the company has gone out of business and it needs a driver and I haven't been able to find one on the net.

There are a few midis I'd like to replace by playing myself but haven't achieved that yet.

Hi eveyone.  We finished up our 55 Alive Driving course at the Senior Center this afternoon and I had a short nap when we got home.  I got the car filled with gas as on Saturday our state gas tax goes back into effect that will add another 15 cents to the price, which was $2.99 this morning.  It has gone up 10 cents a day for the last three days.

We are having a lovely day here today, bright and sunny and not too hot.  We need some of that rain that is occurring up north.

Pinkie, glad you were able to stop by and let us know what you have been doing.  It sounds like you have been very busy.  My family lived in a mobile home when our children were small.

Janet, sorry to hear of the death affecting your family.  Hope Darrell is feeling better by now and that you are getting some rest.

Nita, I have a keyboard but haven't had any success in trying to record a midi file.  However, I must admit I haven't spent much time trying to do so.  When I set up the keyboard I just enjoy playing the grand piano setting and don't seem to get much further.  I don't have the room to leave the keyboard up here in my office and therefore it isn't very convenient to use.

Hey everyone!  I have WHEELS again!!  ;D  I was called before noon and told everything is running great but I needed someone to come for me to pick it up, so waited until Russ could come for me.  He told me they also replaced the timing belt, coolant and air filter, as well as resurfacing the cylinder head and installing the new shift cables ... other stuff too, but I can't remember.   :-\  The total came to $1435.16.  My car is good to go for a while now.  I still marvel that the shift cables "were just lying there" without anything connecting them, and the only way it would have been noticed was when they removed the cylinder head.  They are usually buried and wouldn't have been seen at any other time.  At any time, during the last several long trips, they could have come loose and I'd have had a serious accident or worse.

God is soooo good!  Each time there has been a serious problem with my car it has been close to home, yet I have made many trips across the states and back again and never a problem on the road.

I am a happy camper!

Whoppeeeeeee Jane's got wheels. Hallelujah!!!

I am home and busy trying to get my kitchen together. I want to get it all put away. I have bolted the cabinets to the wall. Put flea stuff on Happy, He has started scratching just since we moved here a week ago. Now I am having a cuppa Jasmine Tea and a health bar.

I am having my right foot xrayed tomorrow. I have a spot on the bottom that feels like I am standing on a rock, Podiatrist said it may be an inflamed nerve. (Neuroma)
There is also a callus that is growing inward onthe ball of my foot. I hate getting old.

Last night I was on my knees on the floor helping Gilbert and boy it was hard to get back up, not just the old knees but the  weight on my wrist was just too much.

Hey you younguns see what you are in store for. Karma, Soni etc.

Do ya think you Canadian's  weird weather has anything to do with those two Hurricane that went north throught the states.

Attention Nita you keep calling my babies the boys, Happy is the boy and Bebe is the girl.

Janet it is good to hear that your mom is feeling better that is always good news. I am so sorry that Beth has to go through the things she does with her diesase. But we have a big God who can do anything.

Larry the same goes for your daughter. It has to very hard on you and on Pat with the health problem you both have and then to deal with hers too.

Etta sue I have sent you two  cat emails that I think you will enjoy.

Back to work.

Yes, our weatherman says it's a tiny bit of the tail end of Rita that caused our big overnight storm.  Eastern Ontario got it worse than us.  We had it bad enough--wouldn't want it worse!  Some places are still without power.

(Click to hear music)

Author:  Hugh Stowell, 1799-1865
Musician: Thomas Hastings, 1784-1872

And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with
thee from above the mercy seat, from between
the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony,
of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
Exodus 25:22

From every stormy wind that blows,
From every swelling tide of woes,
There is a calm, a sure retreat;
'Tis found beneath the mercy seat.

There is a place where Jesus sheds
The oil of gladness on our heads;
A place than all besides more sweet;
It is the blood bought mercy seat.

There is a scene where spirits blend,
Where friend holds fellowship with friend;
Though sundered far, by faith they meet
Around one common mercy seat.

There, there, on eagles' wings we soar,
And time and sense seem all no more;
And heaven comes down, our souls to greet,
And glory crowns the mercy seat.

Oh, let my hand forget her skill,
My tongue be silent, cold, and still,
This bounding heart forget to beat,
If I forget the mercy seat!

Thank you for such good music.  I have just learned how to save songs on my computer and will probably gather a group and put it all on a CD.  One thing - sometimes the songs are really short - I don't know why there is a problem with that or perhaps that is just the way it is meant to be.

Janet;  I am going to call you the Stuff Terminator!  :D Good for you, yikes, 1,000 lbs. of old stuff is going.  That is progress!  Sorry to hear that you have another family funeral.  But - the funeral days are so good for meeting friends and family and a good tradition.   We were just appalled when Don's sister and later his BIL, had insisted no funerals.  I believe she was depressed and didn't want anything.  It was much harder on their girls to not have any formality.

Judy:  It really is a gift to watch the wildlife.  Deer are so graceful, I just love watching them.

Pat:  I do hope that your knees are ready for a walk on Saturday.

Larry:  Great PSA tests results -

Al:  I didn't know that your wife is a quilter as well as Larry's wife.  My daughter gave me a license plate holder that says "Quilters are piecemakers".

Jane:  That is a really high bill for you to pay on car repair but well worth it to find out what danger it could have been.

All right now, Miss Pat!  It is time for that silly little kitty (or whatever) to disappear, and for us to see our own PAT back on here!  How about it, huh?  ::)

I was too tired to go to town and get anything for refreshments for my scrapbooking get-together tomorrow night, so I'm going to have to hustle around in the morning to get things done.  The funeral is at 2:00, and the kids want us to come about 12:45 for the flower service.  It will be so good to see the boys again and collect some of their sweet hugs!  But I'm so sorry they have lost another grandparent.  They tell me that I am not allowed to go for a L-O-N-G time yet.  <3

Those new smilies are too cute!  :crazy:

Larry, I didn't get any rest yet, but hope springs eternal!  8)

It didn't get much warmer here all day, around 50, I think.  Nice!

I'm going to bed early again; still trying to catch up on my sleep.  (Even though someone said it can't be done.)  ???

I don't know whether I will have time to come on tomorrow or not, if not, see you Saturday.  That is Fall Fest here, all sorts of activities going on in town.

Hi there, Carol!  Yep, that's me---THE STUFF TERMINATOR!!!  :idiot: :clobber:  Look out stuff, here I come!  I need to start on this house now, or rather when I finally get through with Beth's.  I guess we all, or most of us, have a tendency to keep too much stuff around.  But I sure don't want to burden anyone else with getting rid of JUNK I have kept, when I am no longer able to do it myself.

See you later!

Hi to you all. Yes I have found my way back to this precious site. My wife and I are in the middle of a large change in our lives as we are about to move from our home of 30 years and also our daughter is getting married on Oct. 29th. so we are very busy.  Since the last time I was able to talk my wife is still in need of much prayer as she still has a lot of pain and no relief except through the medication so we do ask for you to continue to pray. God is so good he has already given us a doctor to go to in our new place and also a dentist and these are so hard to get in Ontario as many of you will know.  We will be able to visit a few different churches and one of them is where my sisterin laws stepson is a pastor. So it is a very exciting time in our lives and there is so much to do so again we ask that you all would ask the Lord to help us.  Also I forgot that I do not have a job yet inthe area where we are moving to and that is called  Welland Ontario. Well I must go May God richly Bless you all.   Gord Brown :)

Thanks Oldiesmann

Well I have finished my kitchen. what a job, another two boxes of stuff to go away forever. I have quite a pile out there now and more to go.

I just called the Hospital to see how Gloria is. She has taken a turn for the worse and is now sedated to keep her quiet and on a ventilator. The nurse ask me about her family so tomorrow I will go to the apartment manager and have him let me into her apartment to get her phone book and call her family. Tomorrow morning the Pastor and his wife will be going to anoint her and pray for her. Please continue to pray that the God will give the doctors supernatural wisdom and knowledge to figure out what is wrong with her and what is the cause.

I went to work this morning for the first bit of training on my new duties.  It will be a challenge for a while, but I'm sure I will be able to perform the task each week.  I came home and spent the day sending out more resumes and getting my computer space tidied up a bit more.  I can't believe how I let it get so bad.  It feels like it is going to take forever to get it back tidy again, but bit by bit, I'm sure I will get there.  One piece of paper at a time.

Time for bed, night everyone.

Hi Everyone & Hi Gord:

Saturday night we went to the Gaither's at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.   Wow it was wonderful!  The time just flew by and we walked out the door at 11:55 P.M.   Can you imagine - 6 hours!   I think Gord was down there as well, but with almost 15,000 people, we didn't see him.

I hope to come on tomorrow.   Have a wonderful night.   God Bless

Love Ruthie
