Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Psalm 1:2.  "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night."

Do you meditate?  No, I am not asking whether you practice yoga, empty your mind completely, and allow your mind merely to drift.  What I am asking is whether you fit the description the psalmist gives of the "blessed man" of the first psalm.

To be "blessed," as conceived by the Hebrew mind was to have God's approval - to be in the favor and love of God Himself!  If such a condition sounds ideal to you, then you'll need to fulfill the conditions: you'll need to give yourself to much meditation.

Such a habit is one of what Christian teachers of a previous age called  "means of grace."  In other words, it's one of the ways through which God blesses His people with growth and maturity in their faith. It's an interesting word, this word "meditation."  Literally, it means "talking to yourself!"  From a practical standpoint, it just means you consider God's Word in all its ramifications - you carefully and continuously think over its meaning and application to your life.

Obviously, then, meditation must begin with prayer, reading, and understanding of the Bible.  Why not try it today?  Why not ask your heavenly Father for understanding, then read a short portion, then determine to take it with you through your day, considering at every opportunity its meaning for your life?  It can only do you good.

Psalm 1
(Click to hear music)

Musician:  Alexander R. Reinagle, 1799-1877

1  THAT man hath perfect blessedness
Who walketh not astray
In counsel of ungodly men,
Nor stands in sinners' way,

Nor sitteth in the scorner's chair:
2  But placeth his delight
Upon God's law, and meditates
On his law day and night.

3  He shall be like a tree that hath
Been planted by a river,
Which in its season yields its fruit,
And its leaf fadeth never:

And all he doth shall prosper well.
4  The wicked are not so;
But like they are unto the chaff,
Which wind drives to and fro.

5  In judgment therefore shall not stand
Such as ungodly are;
Nor in the assembly of the just
Shall wicked men appear.

6  Because the way of godly men
Unto the Lord is known;
Whereas the way of wicked men
Shall quite be overthrown.

Thanks so much, Al!  One of my favourite Psalms.  Thanks for sharing it today with all of us.

I've been scarce today.  I've been to Hamilton.

Judy McKenna had her surgery this morning--her 5th hip replacement and I drove Norm down to see her and we stayed longer as she was in terrible pain.  She was pushing the button on her morphine pump every 5 minutes due to this awful pain.

Just thought I'd share this with you.  Please pray for Judy.

Well, it's a dreary day here in Guelph and just an almost black sky so no photos for me today.

Where are the rest of you?

Hi everyone.  Another day and another posting from the library so this will be short.

Pat, glad the surgery is over for Judy but so sorry to read of the intense pain that poor little lady is having to endure.  I will be remembering her in my prayers.

Not much new as am just researching what I can do to change my Internet service and telephone service.  I am really displeased with Comcast.

I will try to get back tomorrow.

Janet

From the few postings here, I'd say that everyone is having a busy Monday.  For sure I am!

Poor Judy, I have been praying for her.  I can't imagine what pain she has had in the past and is enduring now.

Al, good thoughts on meditation.  Anlother word our pastor used to use for it was "muttering".  It does a world of good to go about your day muttering the Word to yourself!

Larry, I truly hope you get your phone and computer problems solved quickly and to your satisfaction.  You do not need stress!

Pat, hope you get rest today.  Is Kathleen still with you?

Time to be about those Monday chores!  Miles to go before I sleep.....miles to go before I sleep.  8)

This may be a little off topic, but has been on my heart since Friday evening.

Job 38:8 - 11KJV
.....Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddling band for it,
And broke up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,
And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

I met a lady at Staples on Friday.  She had an enlargement of the most beautiful scene of an ocean.  It was taken in England this summer, with a "throw away" camera.  The picture was looking directly into the sun.  She had it enlarged to larger than legal size paper.  She was going to print out the verse Job 38:10 (And broke up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,) on the picture.  It was amazing to see this picture.  Easily could win at one of the local fairs.

I have told you all that to say this.   She was a lady who does not believe in the saving power of our Lord, Jesus to her is just a "good man, perhaps a prophet."  She goes to the same church that John's employers go to.  She obviously knows her Old Testament better than I do.  I was ebarrassed at my lack of knowledge of even the existance of this verse.   I came home muddling through this thought and decided to "hunt down the verse!"   I just wish I had been brave enough to ask for a small copy of this awesome picture.

I was raised with all the Bible teaching of both Old and New Testament's.  Yet in churches today, teaching seems to be more ideas and theories rather than the deep knowledge of our scriptures, and the doctrine that they contain.

I am still pondering these things and am searching for a way to start changes going in our church.

Have a good day everyone.

Etta Sue

So sorry to hear about Judy Mc and her pain.  I didn't realize this was her 5th hip replacement.  Bless her heart!

Rainy day today.  Nothing much to do so I am glad that I had to clean the house today for my party tomorrow.  And I knew if I sat down at the computer before being done, I would be rushed to get things done.

Everything is dusted and swept and put away.  The Texas Chili is in the crock pot and the Cherry Brownies are out of the oven.  Everything else is in bowls so all I have to do is set them out and take off the lids.  Oh, I know...something will go awry...it always does.  But I am not fretting about it.  I am sure no one will go home hungry tomorrow.

So if I am not on here until tomorrow evening, you will know what is going on at Etta Sue's house!

Janet

Judy, Scripture is NEVER off topic!!  And I would love to see that photo!

Etta Sue, have a fun party--and once again, thank you for the cute little animations that liven up this space.

Back to work!

Nice devotional, Pastor Al.

Quiet in here today....stopped in thinking to do lots of reading.  Hah!  Must be the change in weather that is slowing down the posting.  We are finally having our rain and it is needed.  Misty is not too happy tho' and spends a lot of time inside now.  She doesn't care for the cold water on her fur :o  Oh well, she deserves a rest.  Has been busy reducing the mouse population outside and got another rat.  Living near the ocean brings a few undesirable critters around!  Ralph is pleased and thinks she earns her place in the family.  Glad that she leaves the birds alone, we taught her well!

Found that verse a little difficult, Judy, so looked it up on the internet under Messenger version.  A little different, but made the point quite clear.  Wish that you had been able to get a picture.....interesting subject.

Were is Marilyn today???  I hope that all is okay!

We have been battling a virus for a couple of weeks now.  Wendy & Amanda were especially ill.  I seemed to battle better, due to my reinforced vitamin program.  Still shaking, Janet!

Not much to say, so here is a very small smile:

At my granddaughter's wedding, the DJ polled the guests to see who had been married longest. It turned out to be my husband and I. The DJ asked us, "What advice would you give to the newly-married couple?"

I said, "The three most important words in a marriage are, 'You're probably right.'"

Everyone then looked at my husband. He said, "She's probably right."

                 Wise fellow ;)

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Janet

My goodness, what a slow day!

Hey Liz!  I'm still shakin' too!  :)  And trying to shake things up among those I love and get them shakin' too!  ;)

My grandson in Salina, Justin, will be 18 years old on Wednesday, so this Grandma better get a card and a check in the mail, pronto!!  Hard to believe how quickly the years fly by.......seems such a short time ago I was holding that newborn boy in my arms and thoroughly enjoying him.  Sigh........

I'm going to do the NEM now but will wait a while before posting it, to see if anyone else checks in here.

Janet wait a second before you close the door.

It has been a dreary day here as well. Although productive, I went to the framer and picked up a couple of pictures that he framed for me. Two of them will be for christmas and the other is for myself all of them are paper tole.

Stopped at the Christian book store and the sale does not start until next week so I have to wait.

Yes it is a slow day but perhaps we are all tired.

See ya'll tomorrow.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6
