Morning Devotional...[/b]

Eph. 1:11 - 2:3
[/color]

Lord of lords and King of kings[/b]

Sometimes we forget who we are and where we are!  The truth of the matter is that we are very small and seemingly insignificant in the grand scheme of things.  Don't get me wrong - we're very, very important to God.  The Cross of our Lord is evidence for that!  But when it comes to events in this world, our judgement about them isn't the last word. (It probably isn't usually even next to last!)  I think that, when all is said and done, we need to bow at our Savior's feet and admit to Him that He's Lord of all.

When He brought the flood on the earth in Noah's day, if we could have been observers, we probably would have said something like, "Is God out of control?!!  There's babies and there are weak and disabled people,  and there are mommies and daddies dying out there!  It looks like Satan is in control after all!"

Well, he isn't!  But, contrary to his own desires and expectations, he's being used by the true Ruler.  I don't give thanks for the works of Satan, but I give God thanks that He uses the works of Satan for good.  The salvation that came by Jesus Christ came through Noah, Abraham,  David, and finally Jesus, and the whole sequence would have been hopelessly ended without the events of the flood.  From our vantage point we can look at the history of it and see that the world was in rebellion against God and that He was absolutely just in condemning it - but we wouldn't necessarily have felt that way at the time!

He is a frustrated being, is Satan.  But though he hates God and hates us, yet all his actions will be used of God to finally bless us.  Satan has been defeated!  Praise God for His ultimate triumph!

Praise God!  He knows what He's doing, even if we don't.  It'll all come out right one day.  Christ lives!

Crown Him with many crowns.
The Lamb upon His throne.
Hark how the heavenly anthem drowns,
All music but its own.
Awake my soul and sing
of Him Who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity!

Nice devotional, Pastor Al.
It is 10 PM here on the island and we had another rainy day.  Looks like fall has arrived and slipped right into winter!  'twas Market Day and went with Wendy for groceries, then browsed the mall while she had her physical therapy.  Then came home and did some ironing.  Not the most exciting day....simply a busy one!

Amanda put a picture of Squeek in the Photo section.  Caught her in one of those poses only a cat can make....Isn't it wonderful how a pet can make life so interesting and give so much love.  All we have to do is open our hearts and respond.  That is true of so many of God's gifts to us....

We learned that Amanda has a thyroid problem and must see a Specialist.  I suspected that was the case as have had the problem for most of my life.  Thank goodness medical doctors now have the sense to test for the problem.  Her thyroid is low and so they will have to determine the correct dose of medicine...then she will start to have energy, etc.  I am so grateful this doctor has decided to send her to a Specialist.

Marilyn, you surely do have lots to deal with.  Of course you should tell us about the problems so we can pray and let you know we care.  Here is a little chuckle:

The senility prayer

God, please grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones that I do like
and the eyesight to tell the difference.

;D

Time to go now.  Pleasant dreams all and God Bless.

Liz

Goodmoning Everyone. A rainy one over here again.

Pastor Al, thank-you this is a wonderful message to us this morning. It is amazing how God turns things around for good.  The enemy doesn't have the last word. Praise God! With such evils going on in the world, abounding in fact, it is good to remember our Heavenly Father is in control.

"But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:20-21

Blessings in Jesus' Name.
Jenny.

Liz...Hello. Ha ha...I like the Senility Prayer.  ;D

Sarah.  Hello, If you pop in before school.  I hope you feel more at peace this morning.  Keep us informed re your Daddy please dear. This will help our prayers. :-*

Mary Frances

Thanks Pastor Al for this morning's devotional.  Yes, we are just small creatures in this big world.  But thank goodness, we are God's creatures and he made each of us very special. It is so very important that we regard Him as Lord over all.  It makes our lives important, too.  When we regard Him as in control, we can easily handle whatever comes our way.

I believe it was on one of the "In Touch" broadcasts by Charles Stanley that I heard this said:

"Satan’s battleground is your mind.
Do not debate with the devil when you are:
       H â€" Hungry
       A â€" Angry
       L â€" Lonely
       T â€" Tired
Weakness leaves one open to Satan’s temptations."

I just dropped in to wish everyone a Happy and Blessed Day.

I'll try to get back later today and read more of the other messages.

Hi everyone.  Once again we are having a truly georgous day here in Georgia.  Unfortunately the sky is not as clear as it was for a couple of days after the storm passed through as the pollution is again building up.  We have so many cars around this area and other sources of pollution.  Still pretty but a lighter blue.

We had a good evening at church, including an interesting discussion after the Vesper service about the sermon we heard last Sunday.  We are now doing something called "Mining the Text" and initially it was to study the text of the upcoming sermon but our folks didn't care for that so we are now revisiting the prior Sunday's sermon.  Of course, I have to leave about half way through the discussion to get to choir practice but Pat is able to stay for the entire hour.

Karma and Nards, it is so nice that you will be having a daughter.  We have a son and daughter and theya re 15 months apart in age.  My sister and I were 3 years apart.

Al, thanks for the devotional thoughts this morning.  This is something we need to remember as we see the terrbile news of things happening in our world today to know that God will ultimately prevail.

Marilyn, we are your friends and I think it is fine that you share some of your frustrations with us.  While we can't solve the problems we can at least serve as a sounding board and often just telling someone and expressing our feelings is helpful.

I have some webpage work to tackle today so guess I had better get busy.  Hope everyone has a great day.

Marilyn

Good Morning; Thanks Al a wonderful deovtion this morning.

Thank you my friends, brothers and sisters, for reassuring me that I am not being a pest with my complaints. I feel great today, Had a wonderful full night's sleep for a change only up twice  during the night and right back to sleep.

The weather here is cooling off but the days are beautiful and sunny. I haven't been carrying my camera for last couple of weeks, My purse got to heavy. So I have really missed some pretty photo ops. Last night as the sun was setting I was driving back from the Co-op in Arcata I saw a jet flying across the sky and the contrail was pink against a dusky blue sky.

I missed Bible Study last night as I was waiting on my landlord to call or come home. By the time I heard from him it was too late to go. Good thing I  had called Judy, Pastor's wife, to let her know I may not be there to take the roll and the offering.

Well off to work soon to Jan's house that is my DIL's client that I clean for on Thursdays. The to Fay's

Friday I am seeing my chiropractor and Sat getting a haircut.

WooHoo!  It's a girl!  I do believe this is the first birth in CP!!!!  Just think of all the grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins this little girl will have on CP!!!!!
Jenny, what a cute little poem.

Sonja, I looked outside today and yesterday to see if I could find the little frog/toad but didn't see him.  Now last night, I was coming back into the living room and noticed something high on the wall up by the ceiling.  I turned on a light and it was a wooly worm!  I don't know how that guy got in the house.  I do have the windows open but I have screens at all the windows and doors.  Anyway, I got him on my fly swatter and put him outside.

Marilyn, have you thought about wearing a filter mask when you are with her?  That would help you and if someone asks why, tell the truth!

JudyB ~ Beautiful link.  First I thought it was a Mom talking to her child.  But God IS always with us through everything we do.

Papa John ~ I remember last year and you being in the hospital.  Really touch and go.  Like Mieka said, your huge mansion in heaven isn't ready yet.  My son loves the Smokies.  His dream is to have a home out in the mountains near Gatlinburg.

Liz, I will be sure and check out the picture of Squeeks!!!!!

Mary Frances, great to see you posting.  Charles Stanley has a lot of words of wisdom.  I like him.  He speaks my language.  I understand what he is saying....sometimes talking right to me!!!

Another bright and sunny day today.  It is suppose to get in the mid-80's today.  My windows were open all night last night.  I love it.  My pocketbook loves it too!

Today is my son and DIL's 15th anniversary!!

Just wanted to make sure that I wish everyone a God-filled day today!  God bless you all!!!

oh, AL, your posting was so fitting.

Right now I am waiting patiently for the Lord's direction in so many matters.

Never could do it without HIS help.

Mary Francis your  posting was right on and just like Etta says, Charles
Stanley speaks my language.--I listen and feel the Holy Spirit inside of
me refreshing me with HIS words.

So I have to start knitting in "pink"  --oh, so wonderful --Nards will

Revival: Don't Substitute Praying for Obeying

So Samuel said: "Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and
sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is
better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams."
--1 Samuel 15:22

Have you noticed how much praying for revival has been going on of
late-and how little revival has resulted?

Considering the volume of prayer that is ascending these days, rivers
of revival should be flowing in  blessing throughout the land. That
no such results are in evidence should not discourage us; rather it
should stir us to find out why our prayers are not answered....

I believe our problem is that we have been trying to substitute
praying for obeying; and it simply will not work....

Prayer is never an acceptable substitute for obedience. The sovereign
Lord accepts no offering from His creatures that is not accompanied
by obedience. To pray for revival while ignoring or actually flouting
the plain precept laid down in the Scriptures is to waste a lot of
words and get nothing for our trouble.  Of God and Men, 55-57.

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; show me any wicked way that
needs to be corrected in my own life before revival can come. I'm
praying for revival; help me to also be obeying. Amen."

Thanks Al Moak, for a very good word, :)
Many times unbelievers have asked how a loving God could do, or allow, such awful things  in the world.
But when we read about the great flood that our Lord brought upon the earth because of the evil deeds that people did, we still see a loving God in action, He cannot, and will not put up with sin forever, and one day the earth and the heavens will not be flooded, but burnt up with fire, but try telling that to the ungodly, they just say "yea right" and laugh, or worse still show that they couldn't care less!

Jenny

Etta Sue,

Are you replying to the verse on the other thread....20 tiny fingers etc.,  That was a hit song in the 1950s.. ;) I can't remember what day it is today but I can remember the oldies... ;D

Looks like I'm the first up being on the other side of the world (New Plymouth, New Zealand). I really enjoyed reading everyones thoughts yesterday. I agree with Al God certainly can make good of satans little schemes.
I think of God and I still think isn't God awesome. I like nature and I look at the flowers and the sea, I see lightning and thunder and everywhere I see the hand of God and praise him.
Each week I look forward to going to church because there I find like minded people and we can praise God and Jesus and I don't have to think am I boring people because all I want to do is talk about Jesus and find out what other people think.
I hope everyone has a lovely day.
God bless you all.

Papa John

We attended the funeral today and saw a lot of old friends.  Our friend had been very sick for a long time and his passing was a blessing for him and his family.

Gal 3:22-29
22   But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.
23   Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed.
24   So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith.
25   Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.
26   You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,
27   for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
28   There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29   If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.  (NIV)

I hope you all are having a good day.

It ia 6:20 est and we are only on page 1?  WOW sure can tell Pat and Janet are not here!

It is a beautiful day here in the north.  There is a road closure because of a truck accident.  This always concerns me as invariably the truck driver is blamed.  Some times they are at fault, and are held to a higher standard of driving. It appears to be a one vehicle accident, the driver went off the road and hit a rock cut.  No news on the driver.  My question is, why do accidents happen on such lovely days as today has been?

I have some really great news.  Bonnie is going to college!  This is the first of my children to actually do this.  I envy her, I would love to go to college but I believe God has other plans!

Well folks lets get some comments here, and at least get a good portion of a second page doe!

Please explain to me why it is so important to "fill the pages" here ... What is the motivation and reason for this?

I have often posted here and been totally ignored ... I am not complaining but if you just want comments to fill pages then this is pretty superficial, as far as I am concerned ...

That's my opinion and I'm stuck with it ... I am not a photographer; I do not spend hours in front of my computer; I do have a life other than the internet ... Oh well .........

Get off the soapbox, Jane .... <bet I get responses to this one!>    :-\

You are right Jane.  We shouldn’t write here just to fill up pages but because we want to contribute something.  As for me, I’m not much of a photographer either and I certainly have other things to do.  But I do enjoy coming here and reading the posts and writing something each day.  But some days it isn’t convenient.

Some times I do try to answer the posts but not always.  I do like the fellowship and the fact that we each one do belong to the group.

Rom 12:10  Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
1Thes 4:9  Now about brotherly love we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.  (NIV)
Heb 13:1  Let brotherly love continue.  (KJV)

Al Moak

I think that the answer to the number of pages discussion is love one to another.  As Peter put it in 1 Pet. 1:22, let us love one another fervently with a pure heart.  That'll overcome any lack of pages.

Mary Frances

Well! a really nice day is coming to a close.  The weather was so beautiful and I encountered so many friendly people today at our Senior Center, the grocery, the library and in our neighborhood.

I always enjoy reading everyone's messages here at CP and seeing the photo's of those posting.  Isn't this a wonderful setup for us.

This message is short as my eyes are getting heavy.  I'll be stopping by again tomorrow.

May God watch over all of us tomight.

nards656

It's not necessary to fill pages, but it makes us feel like we are a part of something that others enjoy.  Sorry if I've ignored anyone!

I like to see lots of posts because it's usually a good sign of folk having a good time.

Gotta run!

nard
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

Check out my blog at www.bernardshuford.com.

Pat

Well, I'm home!

Thanks for mentioning the pages, Judy.  I guess it's for the reason Nards has mentioned that I take it as a sign that folks are having a great time of fellowship if we have several pages of posts.

Anyway, Ruthie and I had a lovely time with Janet and Darryl.  It was if we were just "meeting again" instead of us meeting for the first time.  I found it very difficult today to say "Farewell for this time" today.  They will leave early tomorrow for the trip home.

I have to still empty the car so I'll be back.

Did not get my fridge today. The repairman showed up without one said the one he told Graham he would bring did not get cold.  I called Graham who was very upset and said he would get me one asap.

Hi Jane here is a response to your post.  How are things in your neck of the woods or should I say on the Coast of Oregon? Probably about the same as it has been here. Beautiful sunny days and cool nights.

Glad you made it back home safe Pat. We have missed you.

I will sign off now and see y-all tomorrow.

I can only think of one thing tonight.
Thank you Lord, for sending an angel to cushion the tremendous fall that my nine-year-old grandson had in their home.  Thank you for keeping him safe with only a few stitches and no broken bones nor concussion.  Thank you for this miracle.
Reid fell all the way to the basement from between the 1st and 2nd floor of an open stairwell - That house has always made me nervous with such a huge opening all to the basement - too modern for my taste.  He was leaning over and lost his balance and fell hitting his head on the bannister of the first floor and breaking that bannister.  I can barelly think of this as it has turned us all to putty.

Thanks all for listening.  I promise to listen to you.
