Morning Devotional...Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Psalm 23:6
There are many foreign students that come to my place of employment to be educated and trained. Some have names that are difficult to pronounce.
Often African students have very colorful names that are easy to remember and spell.
One day my secretary informed me that two students had been following me and that I had eluded them by going around a corner.
I asked their names. "Goodness and Mercy," she replied.
Are you aware, dear believer, that goodness and mercy are following you and shall do so all the days of your life.
Rejoice in this.
--Brian Powlesland
Goodness and mercy all my life shall surely follow me,
And in God's house forevermore my dwelling place shall be.

Thankyou for a good devotional Pat.....The new vicar is from Africa, Nigeria. His Name is Justus Omoyajowa. Not as simple as "GOODNESS and MERCY". Those are old fashioned names. I had a great, great Aunt Mercy whose sisters were called Cicely, Florence and Virginia. Good old fashioned names.Yes?
My thoughts and prayers continue with Papa John.
RIA my prayers are also continued for Jan and your brother-in-law..How is Marcel's foot now?

HAVE A NICE DAY
RIA :-*
Well, since I am having difficulty sleeping tonight, I thought I'd peek in the door and tell our European friends, "GOOD MORNING!"
I, too, hope and pray for Papa John's recovery. Since we live in the same city, I have been able to meet him and Cornelia a couple of times for lunch. They are really just as fine in person as they seem to be.
I was unable to go to the hospital last evening, but will try to keep in contact with them by phone until I leave for my children's christening, which will be this weekend.
Y'all have a good day!
Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann thank you for the message about Papa John
He and Cornelia are still i my prayers.
Greetings for them.
Mieka nice to see you when do you leaving us i shall
missing you i love you dear Mieka
My brother in law he has had a heart attack maybe

RIA
Good Morning
The sun is shining here in this part of England.
Very cold night last night first time the fire has been on since winter. The cat and dog thought they had first claim. Who am I to argue?
This evening is the leaders meeting for the winter walking pgm. Not sure how many will turn out. At times it is left to a loyal band to lead most of the walks.
I do enjoy leading the walks especially if it is in a area full of history which England is full of. Also keeps me active
Do we have any news on Papa John in my thoughts and prayers.
Alan
Good Morning to all: I am behind in NEM from yesterday, but am trying to catch up at work.
My prayers are still will Papa John & Cornelia and I will be anxious to see how he fared last night. I thank God for these prayer warriors.
I will truly miss Mieka when she goes to China. I loved your pictures of Christ that I saw and they did bring tears to my eyes to see how much He suffered.
Backpacker1uk I throughly enjoyed the trip you took us on. These posts here have been so enlightening on different subjects...just a lot better than reading about them in a book. I didn't know anything about the author of Alice in Wonderland until your post. I know you must enjoy the walks.
That is something we don't do enough of here in USA.
Ria, is it not about time for your tests? I forgot the date but have been praying for you.
Thank you, Ruth Ann, for the updates on Papa John.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Elizabeth.
Time to get ready and not be late this morning.
Pat, a BIG thank you for your devotionals. I was glad to be reminded of Goodness and Mercy. By the way how are you coming with your tax problem. Ihave been praying that you and God have started to solve this erroneous error!
Hi everyone.
I see that once again I am late in sending a birthday greeting. Happy Bithday Joan Scales. I also want to say Happy Birthday to LIz.
I am glad to hear that the stenting procedure is over for Papa John and he likely would be able to go home today. At least that is the normal course of events. With stents they leave the catherter in for several hours after the procedue in case there is a need to go back in and then they pull it and you have to stay down for an additional six hours to give the artery time to heal. Ruth Ann, thanks for keeping us advised on Papa John's progress.
Pat, what an interesting devotional this morning. Goodness and Mercy following us. I had never thought of that verse in that perspective.
It is time to leave for coffee with my retired friends, as I do each morning. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. I have another busy day planned.
Good morning . :)I've been up since 4, so thought I might peek in and see what everyone is up to.
My oldest daughter is moving to Arizona today. This is the first time I've been away from her. I've been blessed to have my kids in the same town as me, but this is a new life for her, leaving her hometown, and now she can have her husband Jim every night, instead of every other weekend. (He works in Phoenix). I know it's a good thing, but it feels like another loss at the moment. :(
I know Jane has told you we've lost another friend here. We were saying that you almost don't want to answer the phone. I know we can't live in fear, but with so much loss...and we are so human... letting go is always painful.
It's good to think that Goodness and Mercy are following me around. I like that a lot. I know I've surely felt the benefits of Their gracious watching over me. I have always liked Hindsfeet On High Places, and Pilgrim's Progress. It sometimes is so helpful to get another look at our feelings, and see them as described in character.
I think I'll spend the day being more aware of Goodness and Mercy with me. I'll walk slowly today so that they will not have to follow long, but overtake me. :)
We are still enjoying summery weather here on the Oregon Coast: Crisp brown grasses, and yesterday while driving to my daughter's, I saw some beautiful colors of Fall;reds and bright oranges in roadside trees. Isn't our Father just the most grand Artist? Every season brings something new for us to appreciate.
Still not daylight here at 6 AM. The stars were like diamonds when I first looked, but now they're beginning to fade. Today is here. "This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!"
Happy Belated Birthday, Joan!!!!
Happy Birthday, Liz!!!
I am so happy to hear that Papa John is on the mend. Thank you, Ruth Ann, for keeping us posted.
Today is Jerry's family doctor visit. I am praying that he gets good news from him. Then we will do some other business stuff and hopefully, I can get his kitchen mopped when we get back to his place. It is very cloudy, thundering, lightening but, so far, no rain. Glad I got the yard work done yesterday.

While Papa John's heart work turned out beautifully yesterday, they've decided to do a few other tests while he's hospitalized. Cornelia and John would appreciate continued prayers on his behalf. I understand last night was a bit difficult for him.
Ruth Ann
Happy Birthday Joan and Liz.
Pat, thanks again for the inspiring devotional.
I liked Nita's comment, "I think I'll spend the day being more aware of Goodness and Mercy with me. I'll walk slowly today so that they will not have to follow long, but overtake me." :) I'll have to keep this in mind today.
I am so glad that Papa John is getting the needed medical help.
May you all have a good day filled with God's many blessings.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZ!!
[/glow]
Hope you have a great day!
Ruth, thanks for keeping us informed about Papa John. I'm glad to hear that he's alright, but sorry about the difficult night he had. I'll continue to keep them both in my prayers.
Hey Everybody
Pat - thanks for the e-mail about Papa John.
I hope everyone is doing well. It looks like things are staying busy in here. Lots of new names and faces.
Love to all,
Cindy
CINDY!!
It's great to see you here today! Come back and tell us how you are doing.............please??
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIZ! I wish you every blessing from above on your special day!
I am continuing to pray for Papa John. Darrel had that same procedure a year ago last January, and it is no fun! Prayers for wisdom for his doctors, and peace for him and Cornelia. We love you both!!
Jane, what a beautiful thing to do in memory of your daughter. I'm praying for you and Nita......loss of loved ones is never easy.
I am just stopping by here for a little break in the midst of cleaning mirrors, dusting, vaccuuming, etc. Better get back to it! Talk more later.
P.S. For those of you who like them; I have posted a bunch more photos in My Underwater World.
Hi to everyone ;D
Hi Ms Janet ;D
I love the pictures of the fishes.
Hi Ms Ria, Sadly I must go in perhaps 5 more weeks. But I have already make a vacations to come to visit my family when they travel. 8) So I know this time will go very fast.
Ms Jane, I love you.
Mr Papa John, I think perhaps your heart it is far more big than the doctor ever did see before, yes? Perhaps it will take a tiny more time to fix it i think, yes? 8)
I pray you are well soon.
And a Happy Birthday Ms Elizabeth !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
Good morning, again. ;) I was here earlier and just reading what my bestest friend across town had written, but then I heard a pounding on my door.... I quickly went to see and there was my neighbor from across the street...In her bathrobe! She is 93 years old, blind and nearly deaf. She had locked herself out of her house and her next door neighbor who has an extra key isn't home. ??? I called a locksmith and waited with her until their arrival. I think things are all in order now.
Thank you, MIEKA.... Your messages really help me and I love you, too!
I have things that need taken care of so I better get off here and get to it.
See y'all later.
Good morning!
Happy Birthday Liz! I hope you are having a wonderful day!
I am busy uploading photos today and getting prints ready. I will post some in the photography area.
Hope you all have a good day

HI Jenny! Seen you in here with me, so I thought I would say hi!
PSALMS 23
1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
TITLES IN PSALMS 23
"The LORD is my Shepherd." Here, we have a Metaphor; and in it a great and blessed truth is set forth by the representation of Yehovah as a Shepherd. It is He who tends his People, and does more for them than any earthly shepherd does for his sheep. All His titles and attributes are so bound up with this care that in this Psalm we have the illustration of all the Yehovah-titles:
In verse 1.
"I shall not want," because He is YEHOVAH-YIREH (Gen.23:14), and will provide.
In verse 2.
"He leadeth me beside the waters of quietness (margin), because He is YEHOVAH-SHALOM (Judges 6:24), and will give peace.
In verse 3.
"He restoreth my soul," for He is YEHOVAH-ROPHECHA (Ex.15:26), and will graciously heal.
In verse 3.
He guides me "in the paths of righteousness," for He is YEHOVAH-TZIDKENU (Jer.23:6), and is Himself my righteousness, and I am righteous in Him (Jer.33:16).
In verse 4.
In death's dark valley "Thou art with me," for thou art YEHOVAH-SHAMMAH (Ezek.48:35), and the LORD is there.
In verse 5.
"Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies," for Thou art YEHOVAH-NISSI (Ex.17:15), my banner, and will fight for me, while I feast.
In verse 5.
"Thou anointest my head with oil," for Thou art YEHOVAH-MEKADDESCHEM (Ex.31:13, etc.), the LORD that sanctifieth me.
In verse 6.
"Surely" all these blessings are mine for time and eternity, for He is YEHOVAH-ROHI (Ps.23:1), Yehovah my Shepherd, pledged to raise me up from the dead, and to preserve and bring me "through" the valley of death into His glorious kingdom (John 6:39).

Hello everyone! I am at work, so this needs to be short, I guess. Another beautiful day -- I wish I were out taking pictures, but . . .
I started teaching a new class this morning. It is at the local senior citizen's center. I think the youngest of my students is around 70. They were a riot. It was a class where I left smiling and wishing I didn't have to wait a week to go back.
Hello Cindy!!! Great to see you here.
Sonja, I don't have time to look at the picture, but maybe when I get home I'll glance at it.
Glad to hear that Papa John is still holding his own, and continuing to pray for him.
Take care
karmat
Thank you Chris and Margit for Psalm 23
and the titles.
I often am reading the psalm
It is my lovely psalm
And when i am down then i sing it
I thank you
Love Ria

Thanks Chris I was just looking at the Dayspring letter re the new Roy Lessing Book and thought I'd like to read it....He's great isn't he?
PLEASE FOLKS PRAY for the family of little Ryan at his funeral tomorrow. I have posted in prayers. This family needs much prayer... 6 years caring for a beloved child with a missing gene.........This dear soul has a new body, with nothing missing! Thanks to Jesus who said "Suffer the little children to come unto Me for of such is the kingdom of Heaven"
Goodnight dear Ones,
God Bless you all,
Jenny.
SONYA
SORRY I MISSED YOU ON LINE EARLIER.
ANOTHER TIME............
JENNY.
Ms Jenny,
"Suffer the little children to come unto Me for of such is the kingdom of Heaven"
What does it mean?
I carry with me much pain from a children of a nother time. I pray he is at peace today. I am glad he did have a family to love him. I will pray for them too.
Mieka, I believe Jesus said that to his disciples when they were trying to keep the little children from "bothering" Jesus. He wanted them near Him. I also the he compares it to the kingdom of God because children are so trusting and forgiving. They don't nitpick details. They are innocent and loving.
Likewise, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could also be as little children, trusting Jesus as it seems only they can?
At least, that is my take on it. Take little Ryan. He seemed to be missing so much, but in reality, he was probably happy with the little things and enjoyed the love he received. How many of us are happy with little things and just having love.
Gotta go fix supper. Take care!
karmat
Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye!
Marilyn has informed me so that I might inform you: she has taken her computer into the shop, and she probably will not have it back before the end of the day today. She says she feels utterly lost without it because she misses all of you!
Mieka, your question came from Matthew 19:14. I like to read other Bible versions to find answers.
Matthew 19:13-15 in CEV reads...
Jesus Blesses Little Children
Some people brought their children to Jesus, so that he could place his hands on them and pray for them. His disciples told the people to stop bothering him. But Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and don't try to stop them! People who are like these children belong to God's kingdom." After Jesus had placed his hands on the children, he left.
Karma is right. Wouldn't it be great to be innocent as a child and believe so easily?
I am praying for Papa John for a full recovery. Get plenty of doctoring and come back to us soon.
Jerry and I had a terrific lunch today....does it seem that food is our main focus? His town is full of little craft shops, antique shops, specialty shops, little restaurants. We went to the drug store and this little restaurant called 'Crescent Moon' was next door. It had the New Orleans Mardi Gras theme...beads, purples, gold, Mardi Gras posters...really neat. It is only open 3 hours for lunch. Then it closes about 3 hours and opens again for 3 hours for the evening meals. Mostly sandwiches were on the menu for lunch. Both of us ordered a Giant Breaded Tenderloin. All sandwiches comes with fries. They were right....GIANT!!! Bigger than a luncheon plate. But great! The best Breaded Tenderloin I have ever eaten. They bread them themselves...not frozen. But they were sure messy. That's why they were sooooo good!!!
Going to go but I am praying that all your cares and woes are given to God. He can solve anything!!!!
Hi Ms Etta Sue ;D I have a puzzle today why you do not have a special message today at the bottom? ??? I do not know what to do now :-\
I Know, I will share one for you , OK?
Snowmen fall from Heaven unassembled.
Oh Mieka, that is cute! Thanks to all for the lovely Birthday Wishes. They do mean a lot and my day has been busy and pleasant. Wendy came and took me out for lunch and Al is coming in a few minutes to take me out for dinner. Will be well stuffed!
Not keen on having another birthday...so far over the hill that I'm almost at the bottom...
Will continue to pray for Papa John & Cornelia. Also for all the others on my list. How wonderful that we can pray for each others needs. It is a great comfort to this person. Surely, Goodness & Mercy dwells on this site. God Bless, Liz.
Papa John and Corneila, you remain in my heart and prayers. Having been in your shoes 12 years ago, I know what a struggle this is for you. Just remember, one day at a time because....
"This is the day which the Lord hath made; We will rejoice and be glad in it" Psalm 118:24
And we know that he never gives us more than we can handle.
Sue
Hi to everyone here with me now.
Carol, Mieka, Janet, Diana_g, Al Moak, Ruth Ann Bice
Hi Sue! Glad to see that you are online at this same time, too.
I came in to thank Pat Scott for the lovely Goodness and Mercy message. What a wonderful thought for each and every day of our lives.
Thinking goodness and mercy for Papa John!
I am on the laptop and CP is working wonderfully for me. We have the regular desk computer in the shop and went to pick it up - it is lost and they are mystified. Don told the repair people that they have 24 hours to find it - private info on it makes us very nervous. Sounds like a threat at the O.K. Corral, doesn't it? How can they possibly lose our entire computer?
Thinking of all of you. Carol
Just popping in on my way to bed.
Mieka, I love that unassembled snowman thing. THAT I will remember.
Good night all.
Let's remember to say special prayers for Papa John and Cornelia tonight. May they have rest and peace and comfort.
Well, another day has come to an end. I'm really late in getting here but so many things I've done today. Tonight I was at a meeting and got home rather late.
Now, this door will be locked and I hope that many will post to welcome our friends across the pond as they get up in the morning.
