Morning Devotional...
Jesus: The King Who Grieves
Luke 13:22-35 NLT
Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he went, always pressing on toward Jerusalem. Someone asked him, "Lord, will only a few be saved?"
He replied, "The door to heaven is narrow. Work hard to get in, because many will try to enter, but when the head of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. Then you will stand outside knocking and pleading, `Lord, open the door for us!' But he will reply, `I do not know you.' You will say, `But we ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.' And he will reply, `I tell you, I don't know you. Go away, all you who do evil.'
"And there will be great weeping and gnashing of teeth, for you will see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets within the Kingdom of God, but you will be thrown out. Then people will come from all over the world to take their places in the Kingdom of God. And note this: Some who are despised now will be greatly honored then; and some who are greatly honored now will be despised then."
A few minutes later some Pharisees said to him, "Get out of here if you want to live, because Herod Antipas wants to kill you!"
Jesus replied, "Go tell that fox that I will keep on casting out demons and doing miracles of healing today and tomorrow; and the third day I will accomplish my purpose. Yes, today, tomorrow, and the next day I must proceed on my way. For it wouldn't do for a prophet of God to be killed except in Jerusalem!
"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn't let me. And now look, your house is left to you empty. And you will never see me again until you say, `Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord!"

There will be many surprises in God's Kingdom. Some who are despised now will be greatly honored then; some influential people here will be left outside the gates.
Many "great" people on this earth (in God's eyes) are virtually ignored by the rest of the world. What matters to God is not a person's earthly popularity, status, wealth, heritage, or power but his or her commitment to Christ.
How do your values match what the Bible tells you to value? Put God first, and you will join people from all over the world who will take their places at the feast in the Kingdom of Heaven.

I hope I didn't bonk anyone on the head. Sorry about that.
We have had a rainy, stormy evening. My lights dimmed a few times but didn't go out. At least I didn't have to reset umpteen clocks in this house.
I have to get up early (for me) to go to the dentist in the morning...routine dusting and cleaning. My next least favorite thing to do. My first least favorite is getting my car maintenance. Next is the DDS. He always wants me to put my life savings in my mouth!! :clobber: :idiot:/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

Etta Sue: Well, I hope your dentist doesn't own horses - am tired of feeding those horses she owns! :( How on earth do poor people afford a dentist?
QuoteI choose goodness...
That is a wonderful quote to live by - I have several books by Max Lucado and they are always of comfort and inspiration when things turn sour.
Janet: The school hostage situation is over with the young girl being shot and died and the evil person killed himself. So terribly sad and now they are trying to find the motive - it is just plain evil thoughts. Bailey is over 40 miles SW of the Denver suburbs and in the hills. We pass the school (it is large) whenever we drive to youngest son's remote property.
We really enjoy our Spirituality discussions on Wednesdays and last night was a good discussion on the the path to total committment to the Lord.

Thanks for that, Etta Sue. Oh that we would or could take that with us and obey it at every turn! We are tempted at every point.
:'( sniff sniff :'( My birthday went by unnoticed here
Just kidding...I'm perfectly OK with that but wanted to share some cake with you guys. We have Wednesday night dinner and Bible study and since my birthday happened to fall on Wednesday this year, this cake was there for the attending saints.
Have a piece!

:cheer: :members: :laff: :hbirthday:  :hbgift: :bravo:  :groupwave:
Not to worry, Pat. You have plenty of stuff on your plate at the moment!
On a different topic....why can't I see the quick post for the shoutbox anymore? All I see are the past shouts with Marilyn's 9/25/06 post being the last.
Hi everyone. I just received an email from Papa John and he confessed, he is lazy. He says his body needs more rest and he has had to cut down on some activities...including CP. But he wanted me to tell everyone that we are in his prayers daily! How comforting. Cornelia and he are taking their first little trip of the year...since Cornelia's stroke...and are going to Pigeon Forge.
The dentist was okay. I have a partial that got a new false tooth about three months ago. I went to him with a canker sore a couple of months ago and since, I have had small sores in the same area. He said I need to soak my partial daily...I've had a partial for 20 years....lots and lots of days...and never soak it, just brush with toothpaste and brush. But he said that partials are poreous and collects food and bacteria that brushing doesn't get rid off. I told him that I felt the partial was rough anyway since I got it back. He polished it up and now it is a shiny silver instead of a dull gray and the false tooth is shiny too. I don't think it was polished after the new tooth was put on but no one will ever tell me that. So now I have a mouth wash to swish 4 times a day and I will soak my partial for awhile... ???
I know....TMI!
Psst! It's a day late....but....(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.earthlink.net%2F%7Eettasue9842%2Fsitebuildercontent%2Fsitebuilderpictures%2F%253Cbr%2520%2F%253Edancinghappybirthday.gif&hash=5e8fd0ac4b371a380c324bbec91e810a96c160d2)
Hey Cool Carl, happy Birthday my friend !!! Hope you had a good 55th !!! (hehehee you have me by 4 years!) :P
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, CARL--YOU YOUNGSTER!! ;)
It is a gorgeous fall day here, crisp, cool but not cold, and NO WIND!! My favorite kind of weather! :)
I'm still plugging away on getting years of accumulated stuff dealt with, as I have decided it is TIME. Have any of you had that revelation? I hate to even think about my family having to deal with so much STUFF someday, so I'm helping them out now. Darrel carts it to the pit as soon as I fill the garbage cans. I think he is secretly afraid I might change my mind and start going back through it. ;)
Etta Sue, thanks for the report on/from Papa John. I sure do miss his posts, and haven't had the time to go to SN for a long time. I'm so happy he and Cornelia are able to go to Pigeon Forge again.
Okay! Back to the salt mine!
:coffee:
Good Morning!
Etta Sue, thanks for the Word this morning. It was great, even at 2AM! I don't know. Something woke me up, so why not read the Word?!? Got back to sleep at 3 though.
Carl, I was being
polite by not bringing up your birthday! Hope ya have a year filled with HIS goodness, Bro!
I want people to talk about me and mine like they talked about the church at Thessalonica. ;)
(from Chapter 1)
Do you know that all over the provinces of both Macedonia and Achaia believers look up to you? The word has gotten around. Your lives are echoing the Master's Word, not only in the provinces but all over the place. The news of your faith in God is out. We don't even have to say anything anymore—you're the message! People come up and tell us how you received us with open arms, how you deserted the dead idols of your old life so you could embrace and serve God, the true God. They marvel at how expectantly you await the arrival of his Son, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescued us from certain doom.
In His Grip,
Kevin
Happy Birthday Carl
Janet: We are on the same wave length. We have donated two van loads of stuff - on a roll now. Washed & ironed so many things before they went & I am organizing my sewing.
Also, cleaning my inbox mail of all the phishing - that is I had four emails that are super suspicious. So, I hope no one minds but if you encounter these things, you must forward them to respective sites to help stop these evil minds.
spoof@paypal.com for anything from PayPal - they only write if you have
recently bought something (it looks real, but isn't)
spam@uce.gov for (FTC) Federal Trade Commission - majority of phoney stuff
mail-spoof@cc.yahoo-inc.com email from fake Yahoo asking for info on your account
It seems to take more time and work to get the bad guys!
Carol
Hi, friends,
I've really enjoyed your conversation this evening. Now, since it's almost 8 o'clock, I'd better hurry up and fix something to eat. I think I want "breakfast for dinner" tonight.
Carl, my wish is for you to have a most wonderful coming year. Happy belated birthday.
Y'all have a good evening.
Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann, glad you had a nice time while away from work, and wish you didn't have to work so hard.
Carol, thanks for the update on the school shooting. What evil there is in our world today! I'm so sorry for the girl's parents and friends.
I'm going to be staying with Abby for three days next week while her parents go to Topeka for business. She is calling me two to four times each evening---making big plans for our time together!
I wish you all a wonderful and restful night of sleep.
Hi Everyone...
Well, I had my "refresher course" today on giving needles. It sure brought back lots of memories for me.
And while I was there, I visited Judy McKenna. She's doing quite well after the surgery now and Norm is home so things are a bit better for them.
I've been out this evening and just got in about 1/2 hour ago.
The Jack Scott Memorial Hike is on Saturday but I doubt I'll be walking this year with the silly visit from "Uncle Arther Itis" that's been plaguing me. But I'll go and take a photo and greet them all.
Now it's time to lock the door.
