Morning Devotional...

Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
Job 37:14

I will show forth all Thy marvellous works.
Psalm 9:1

That I may...tell of all Thy wondrous works.
Psalm 26:7

We are told that the nation of Israel did not remember the wondrous deeds which God had done among them (Neh. 9:17).

They became stubborn in heart and appointed a leader that returned them to slavery.

Praise God for the word "but" in Scripture! "But Thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not" (Neh. 9:17).

Let us not forget this truth; let us proclaim it, and go and tell a world that is waiting to hear and see the wonders of His love.
--V. Gaynier

Words & Music by George Beverly Shea

There's the wonder of sunset at evening,
The wonder as sunrise I see;
But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is the wonder that God loves me.

CHORUS:
O the wonder of it all, the wonder of it all-
Just to think that God loves me!
O the wonder of it all, the wonder of it all-
Just to think that God loves me!

There's the wonder of springtime and harvest,
The sky, the stars, the sun;
But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is a wonder that's only begun.

There's the wonder of God's revelation,
The Word Who dwelt amongst men;
But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is that Jesus is coming again.

Love this hymn Pat.  George Beverly Shea is one of my favourite artists.

Etta Sue:  I didn't mean to forget to wish you a Happy Birthday!!

John:  Welcome to C.P.  Don't forget to "introduce Yourself"....we know you a little from being Beth's friend...would like to know more!

Turboteck...John and Joanna...I have been concerned for you...how are you doing?  How is Joanna feeling these days?  I was SO SORRY to learn of the loss of your dear expected baby!/

Goodmorning Pat and Judy.

Thankyou for a lovely beginning to the day.  I love Geo.Bev Shea.  Have lots of his recordings they are so uplifting.

John and Joanna. Words cannot express my feelings. I can only send my heartfelt love and prayers to you both. May Our Lord Jesus comfort and uphold you both  in the days ahead.

Autumn is certainly in the air here this morning.  It is a dull but crisp morning...bit of a breeze in the air.

God Bless everyone.
Jenny.

Fast Eddie.

Agreed re differing interpretations...

"And that servant which knew his Lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to His will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes.
For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom men have commited much, of him they will ask more."
Luke 12:42-48

God Bless Bro.

Good Morning PAT!! It has been some time since I have been here. Nor have I posted much on SN.
I guess you had a Birthday that I missed?
I am so Sorry!!
Happy Belated Birthday to you!! God Bless you Richly and give you many Days of Joy this coming year!!
OH! The Wonder of it ALL. I have not heard that song in at least 20 Years. It is so beautiful!! I still can not hear it on the CP page, but remember it so well.
I still have not gotton a chance to post any photos. I have not advanced that far as of yet.
It seems I have so much I want to do and not enough time to accomplist all I want too. I know I am not alone. Many feel the same way. You think by now I would remember there are only 24 hours in a day!

Dear Pat and Brothers and Sisters in Christ!!
I have a Prayer Request for my Grand-Daughter.

She is 18 years old and Out of Control.
She may face being Homeless and on the Streets.
If this happens she will surely Fail.

She has had all kinds of Secular Help!! She Needs a Christian Program that is willing to Take her and at a nomial fee.
Please Pray God provides this for her.
We have prayed for years for her to be released from her problems but without Christ she will not change.
Thank you All. In His Love, Lillie

Hi Everyone!

It's raining here--remnant from Hurricane Frances.  I'm leaving soon for London and will be back later on  this evening or late afternoon.

Re TurboTech...  Have I missed something?  I know that Joanna and John lost their first wee baby but as far as I'm aware, this second baby is healthy and doing just fine.

Must get ready for the little jaunt to see the eye specialist and I'll talk with you all later.

One more little thing about "eternal security" and then I'll put it back on the shelf.  First of all, I didn't call it "eternal security."  It's not at all a good name for it.  Our forefathers much preferred "eternal perseverance," because, scripturally, the doctrine is saying that one who has truly been born of the Spirit (Jn 3:5) will persevere to the end of life in this world.  It's not possible to be "unborn!"  And, since life in Christ is brought about by the Spirit, it will be continued by the Spirit.  No person truly thus born is going to be careless and presumptive about it.  They will continue to come to Christ, not for a new birth, but for forgiveness and cleansing (1 Jn 1:9) and for grace to overcome.  I hate my sins, every one of them.  I hate that I still do sin - at all.  I come to my Lord daily and ask Him for help to overcome it.  He continues to give it.  He is the Lord and Savior of a sinner!  But I'm a sinner saved by grace.  Praise His Name!

Here we are to enjoy another beautiful day given us from the Lord!  We went to swim and enjoyed it so much.  That is the one thing I try to do for me every day because it is so important to maintain our health by eating right and exercising.

Another busy day here, stuff to do for Beth, and my class this afternoon.

Ha!  I posted the welcome and then started browsing the rest of CP and realized I forgot to post my usual on NEM.  That's what happens when you get older.

Thanks to each of you for the birthday greeting for me.  I love each and everyone of you!!!

Yesterday was a great day but I am glad birthdays only come around once ever 365 days.  Tiring.
I have decided to lie about my age now.   ::)  I was 26 yesterday!!!!   ;D ;D

Today is bright and sunny and a little cool which is always after my birthday.  It seems each day is cooler from September 8 until the spring flowers start blooming.  I don't like the cold weather.  Well, actually, I don't mind the cold weather....it is the winter clothes and coats and hats and gloves and boots that I don't like!!!!

This is very sad indeed.  I just want you to know that prayers are being sent your way and that I was on my own at a young age and made it through.  God seemed to follow me no matter where I went or what I did and I didn't even know Him.  Sometimes it takes for us to fall rock bottom before we change.  (((hug)))

Nice devotional, Pat.
QuoteNo man is conquered until his heart is conquered.
~George Barlow~

Isn't that what salvation is all about?  Once that happens, we want to change.  Words come easily, change requires work....I agree with you Pastor Al.  God forgives our mistakes....but we need to do more than give 'lip service' to God.  That is especially difficult in a world that is so filled with evil.

A bright sunny day here on the island.  Although, Fall has arrived.  Yesterday, we had very cold rain and not much sunshine.  I went to Farmers Market with Wendy, tho' still feeling the effects of that nasty virus.  Came home and went to bed early.

Amanda is back in school today.  The high school is still being renovated and classes are staggered.  Grade Twelve only goes every other day.  Since this is a school where the students work on their own and can do work at home, it will not effect as much as in the regular school system.  Kelsey is a good way to prepare students for College and further education.  They have to be responsible or it doesn't work.  The teachers are great and follow the students progress closely.  The Principle is very highly respected by the School System.

Lillie, I will pray for your granddaughter.  I am fortunate in having one who has chosen a less troubled lifestyle.  Tho' my only son didn't and so I can relate to the problem.  In the end, they are the one's who must make the choice.  We can only continue to pray...and pray!

I am going to try Windows XP SP2 again.  Microsoft sent me a disk and I will load it and hope for the best.  They even sent it by Courier....sure can't fault the response.  Now for the result...?

Etta Sue, have now learned about your birthday.  Happy Birthday.  Mine is due any minute and not too welcome either.  Who thought of this custom anyway???

Pleasant day all and God Bless.

Liz

Hi everyone.  We have a beautiful, bright and sunny day after several days of clouds and rain from Francis.

My morning took various turns from what I had planned.  I did go walking at the "Y" for the first time this week and then went to coffee.  One of the men at coffee said their computer was all fouled up and wondered if I would come over and see what I could do.  I told him I could come over for a short while as had a retirees luncheon to attend.  As Pat also had a luncheon to attend today and needed our better car I came home to switch cars.

When I got in our second car it wouldn't crank at all.  So I e-mailed to cancel attending the luncheon and went over to help my friend with his computer.  He came over when I had to get the car back for Pat to use and brought his battery charger but we found out it wasn't the battery and eventually he got the car started.  It appears that there is a switch connected to the brakes that may have gone bad.  So I went back to his house in his pickup and finished up reformatting the hard disk and reinstalling Windows and several other programs and a little while ago he brought me home.  His computer is now working well so his wife should be happy.

Sometime between 2 and 5 pm the cable people are coming to install cable tv and internet service.  That should go smoothly as have had cable service before and my house is fully wired for it.  So by tonight I should have a new internet service provider and a new e-mail address (although will still have my existing e-mail address for another month as my old ISP gave me a free month hoping I won't cancel.

Sonja, it sounds like your plate is full.  I imagine Chandraya is getting anxious to have her own new room.

LadyLiberty, I understand your frustration and concern for your granddaughter.  I have walked in similar shoes and know that prayer is often the only thing that we can do and to try to keep some avenue of communication open even when we become angry.  I will be praying for your granddaughter.

Etta Sue, you might pass for 27 but I just don't know about 26?  Don't you think that might be asking too much!   ;D ;D

Welcome Jerry C to CP

Ruth Ann, glad to read you are getting away for a couple of days.  I will keep my eye open if you drive through my neighborhood.  Be sure to honk!!

Pat, hope your trip to London goes well today and the eye doctor has good news for you.

Marilyn, I would be very concerned about your refrigerator and the possibility it will let your food spoil.  You sure don't need to be getting food poisoning.  When we replaced our refrigerator a couple of years ago we hadn't realized who poorly our old refrigerator had been working.

I sure hope that Karma and Nards are OK.  I heard on the radio that they had 16 inches of rain around the Ashville, North Carolina area.  Sure hope they haven't been flooded and/or lost their power.

Jenny, Al, Janet, Judy, Eddie, hammer, Chris, Liz and Ruthie it was good to see each of you posting.

Hope everyone will have a nice remainder of the day.

Revival: A Divine Visitation

And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as
to carnal, as to babes in Christ.
-1 Corinthians 3:1

I believe that it might be well for us if we just stopped all of our
business and got quiet and worshiped God and waited on Him. It
doesn't make me popular when I remind you that we are a carnal bunch,
but it is true, nevertheless, that the body of Christians is carnal.
The Lord's people ought to be a sanctified, pure, clean people, but
we are a carnal crowd. We are carnal in our attitudes, in our tastes
and carnal in many things. Our young people often are not reverent
in our Christian services. We have so degraded our religious tastes
that our Christian service is largely exhibitionism. We desperately
need a divine visitation-for our situation will never be cured by
sermons! It will never be cured until the Church of Christ has
suddenly been confronted with what one man called the mysterium
tremendium-the fearful mystery that is God, the fearful majesty that
is God. This is what the Holy Spirit does. He brings the wonderful
mystery that is God to us, and presents Him to the human spirit.
The Counselor, 66-67.

"Oh Lord, deliver me from carnal attitudes, actions, and desires.
Give me this morning a divine visitation to purify and cleanse me.
Let me sense today the majesty and awesomeness of the 'mysterium
tremendium' as I wait upon You. Amen."

Dear brother Eddie, here is a great article about the "perseverence of the Saints."
I cannot know if you have studied such, but it is well worth it.
God keeps His saved ones, and just as well too, as we cannot possibly keep ourselves.
The Arminian doctrine sometimes leads to problems of faith, as Arminians sometimes seem to believe that we can be saved one day and unsaved the next, then saved again the following day, as if our salvation depended upon feelings or upon us!
The Son of God keeps us......
No-one can snatch us from His Hand, and no.. we cannot just walk away from Him!
Sin and carelessness in studying scripture, lack of fellowship, habitual sin especially, can as it were bring a veil between us and our Saviour, so that we no longer feel His presence, but that veil will be rent in two, and the way in to the Holy place once more opened up, if we but repent of our blindness and willfullness, and cry out for forgiveness.
Just because we can feel the Lord's presence so wonderfully one day, then wake up the next and feel as if God doesn't exist, doesn't mean He isn't still with us, it just means we should walk by faith not by sight, nor" feelings."
My love and good wishes to you.
Chris.

The doctrine of the Perseverance of the Saints is stated in the Westminster Confession in the following words: "They whom God hath accepted in His Beloved, effectually called and sanctified by His Spirit, can neither totally nor finally fall away from the state of grace; but shall certainly persevere therein to the end, and be eternally saved."1 Or in other words we believe that those who once become true Christians cannot totally fall away and be lost, --- that while they may fall into sin temporarily, they will eventually return and be saved.

This Grand-Daugther is my eldest and she and I are very close. I have always made sure that the lines of communication have been open for both my children and grandchildren. Thanks Larry for that affirmation. Liz, I knew there were others out there who have had some of the same problems creep into their families and by prayer these problems were overcome.

So tired, we have been home for only a few days and with family celebrations and grade school visitations, we are tuckered.  Don hurt his back just a few minutes ago and I have him in a cozy chair with a heated back thing.  We just had a big wind come through and a neighbors tree cracked in half.  Never a dull moment.

Lillie, I also join with you in praying for the wayward granddaughter.  Her being your oldest and having always been close to you has to make the situation even more painful for you.  But, take heart!  There is nothing more powerful than a grandmother's prayers!  How many stories I have heard about people being snatched out of the flames by a praying grandma.  (((hugs)))

Larry, those unplanned things that mess up our plans are sometimes difficult for us, but are sometimes God's plan.  Maybe farther down the road, you will see His hand in the detour.  You are such a wonderful neighbor and friend, to help folks the way you do.

Liz, the high school Amanda attends does sound ideal for preparing kids for college.  So many do not take responsibility, and want to blame everyone else for anything that goes wrong in their lives.  Unfortunately, that trait goes with them far beyond school.  Do you have really harsh winters there on the island?

Well, shucks, Etta Sue!  I'm a LOT older than you!  I'm 39! ;) ;D

Eddie, I hope Sarah's question helped her, you and many others, by the frank and friendly discussions it prompted here.  God bless you.

Alma, sorry about the infection---handy to have your doctor living next door.  When you get through with all of it, you will be 25, right? ;)

Carol, sorry about your hubby's back, hope it feels better soon.  Days can get very hectic at times, huh?

Pat, I hope you are home by now, and resting.  I know you will be in when you can.

Hi, Chris and Margit!  Howdy, Soni Baloney! ;D  Be sure and show us pictures of Chandraya's dream room!  Did you see the new pictures of Abby?

Marilyn, I hope your landlord just replaces the ailing refrigerator.  What a pain!

Talk to you all later!

Lillie I will join the others in praying for your grandaughter, I was the wayward child  as I grew up. I love to pray for others in similar circumstances. So you have the prayers of this grandmother too.

I have a whole cookie sheet full of chicken breasts int he oven, didn't want to risk re-freezing any chicken.Everything else is still frozen and none of the ice has melted yet.

I came home through the rain and was just so tired, I replied to an email and then lay down and just woke up!

It's so nice to read all of your messages in here today.

Nice to see you Lillie and definitely we will pray for your granddaughter.

I'm sorry to hear about your fridge, Marilyn.  Just get a new one.

I won't be mentioning everyone.  I have some things I have to do in the house here before I can go to bed tonight and I also have to go through my email.

Chris, thanks so much for the links today.  Lorraine Boettner is a wonderful author and we have several of his books here in the house.

I'll be back later on.

Oh, I have eye surgery on Oct. 6.  It's not a big operation but just a crazy recuperation period.

My eye problem isn't that serious.  I have an eyelid that I'm trying to look through!  About 12 years ago, I had the tendons shortened and they've stretched out again and sometimes I have to literally hold my lid up to read or watch TV.

So they are going to do the operation again.

I'll have a black eye for awhile till the stitches are out.

Hi Lillie,
My stepson is in a place called Teen Challenge.  It has done wonders for him.  It's is Christian based and the men's program works and helps keep the girls program funded.  There has been no fee for him to be in the program.  Possibly you could get her to go or even have it court ordered if she were involved in the court system at some point  (I hope not, but it is a way for it to happen)  Since Josh has been in Teen Challenge, his whole outlook on life has changed and most importantly it has changed because God has reached down and by His Grace, has saved him!  It is a wonderful program.  They have a website if you want to look.  It is just "teenchallenge".

prayerfully,
Jona

Since I've had a pretty long day, I'm closing the door early tonight.

Hi Jona...  Thanks for posting.  I've just so enjoyed looking at your photos on that website that you posted over in Photos Here.
