Morning Devotional...
By Chris Saunders
[/size]

"Charge them that are rich in this world, not to be high minded, nor trust in uncertain riches but in the Living God, Who gives us richly all things to enjoy. That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute." 1 Tim 6

This is said by a man of God who was whipped, stoned almost to death, imprisoned, attacked and beaten up not just once but several times for his witness to Christ Jesus! He can still say that.. God gives us richly all things to enjoy.. We have no time for name it and claim it quacks who tell us that God wants us to be rich, so if we send them loads of money somehow we shall become rich, I can tell you this though, as long as you invest in the poor, the lonely, the lost, you shall always have enough and some to spare, our God loves a cheerful giver, being rich in good works, and doing it without blowing a trumpet, brings God's blessing upon you. Paul our Apostle to the Gentiles knew what it was to suffer and yet he was content and at peace, and very grateful for his gift of Salvation, granted to him, by God's great grace when he was on his way to persecute Christians, Paul was always amazed at why Christ would save him of all people. Let's trust in God to guide us and guard us and provide for us, as we reach out to others less fortunate than ourselves. We who deserve nothing have received the greatest gift of all, our Salvation, now let's do the good works.

"Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth." 2 Tim. 2.
This is a very important verse for us, often overlooked especially by.. "Name it and claim it.." Charlatans and that Ilk. Rightly dividing the word of truth means not taking a verse out of context to become a pretext, God does not want everyone to be healthy, wealthy and wise, sorry but it's true. Sin has ruined people and caused disease and disaster in people's lives, God would rather see people saved, Reborn and going to Heaven with Him than healthy and lost.
When they lowered the man through the roof, Jesus said " your sins are forgiven" then because the pharisees didn't believe that, Jesus healed him to prove it, but having his sins forgiven was the most important thing. Sin ruins people. But we need to rightly divide God's word, we cannot just claim part of a scripture verse and say it's His promise to us, there are many wonderful promises in the Bible but not all to us personally, eg. "If my people will humble themselves." . Etc. This was for the nation Israel God's chosen people, He had chosen to make them a nation as an example to the world of His love and mercy and grace, but they rebelled against Him, and were and are punished for it, it is no good claiming that promise for any other nation, God has not chosen any other nation but Israel only, people are saved individually, not nationally. I could go on about many verses that are "claimed" by well meaning desperate believers not properly dividing the word of truth. Please don't do this, when trouble comes as it surely will, run to God's word, and meditate on it, pray and praise your Saviour, Who alone can help, praise Him that He knows all about it, that He has allowed it for a reason that only He knows, ask for grace to submit to His will, although not understanding why things happen. Peace will eventually come into your heart and soul. Reading the Psalms in times of trouble and perplexity is good too.
But let us not twist God's Word to mean what He never meant it to mean.

Church for an hour this morning, we are now back inside and not sitting outside in the evening to the front facing the road, although that was pleasant as road is not busy, just neighbouring houses...And if anyone or a car pulled in or out, they were respectful and drove past slowly...To be honest, i think i preferred it outside providing our weather was dry sunny and pleasant...that was never guaranteed..

"But shun profane and vain babblings, for they will increase unto more ungodliness." 2 Tim. 2.
The world and especially the media are full of vain and profane  babblings that is about all they consist of, the news is dumbed down to the lowest denominator, morons abound, many people just watch the" news" For the latest showbiz gossip and have it spoon-fed to them. God help us to avoid it as much as we can. Christians do not need the world's news, there is little out there to be concerned about. Very little that affects our life. Profanity is everywhere, our Saviours name is used as a swear word in many a TV programme.. OMG appears everywhere in social media, Why? Because the adversary loves to see and hear God blasphemed, and remember the world is under the control of Satan just like we used to be, the Prince of this world loves to hear God mocked, he knows His time is short and his end shall be terrible, and it is dreadful that all who use the Lord's name in vain will be held guilty of it. Hell was made for the devil and his evil angels.. The devil does not rule hell, the cartoons are wrong, he shall be tormented in hell, just like the ungodly.
Let's ask God to keep a watch upon our mouths, our lips should be full of praise to Him Who is seated upon the Throne, and has by His great grace washed us and made us fit for Heaven by the Blood of the lamb.
He is worthy of all Glory and Praise and Honour. Let us be cleansed of all foolish talk.

Have a fresh blueberry muffin - straight from the oven.  We will try not to think of air pollution in Denver which is amongst the world's top list. Number 5!

Yes, the name of God is taken in vain so much - we now hear it being used as a cuss word.  No one seems to care and it has become a habit. Most bothersome is hearing young children spout out that much too often.  And, they have no idea of what they are saying.

Cheerful news!  The most cute little bunny in hanging around the house - outdoors.  I have named him/her Chi Chi.

What is happening in your neck of the woods?

I am praying for the people affected by the fires and smoke.

From Chris Saunders!

"Having a form of Godliness, but denying the power thereof, from such turn away." 2 Tim. 3.

There are religious people today, and there always have been,, who go to church, sit there for an hour or so, then come home or go for a meal somewhere, and that is about the sum of their Christian life, others just turn up at church for Easter and Christmas.
This is not Christianity, we must have a personal relationship with the Saviour Jesus Christ, we must be reborn, with a new heart and a new Spirit.
And our life outside of churchgoing.. must be a vibrant witnessing one,
Christ is our Life. Without Him we were dead in our sins. We had no hope outside of Him, now He is our hope of Heaven and Eternal Life.
Our Bible reading and our praying and witnessing, our singing praises to Him have nothing to do with dead religious habits.
We are fully alive spiritually, He came to set us free, and if the Son sets us free, then we are free indeed.
Live life to the full in Christ. What does the world have for us, it just tries to separate us from Him.
But who can separate us from the Love of Christ, shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword, from the Love of our Lord. No, we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
Carpe diem..

Judy:  I agree with all you posted.  There are those who do sit in church but their business deals are greedy and crooked too.  We had such that experience with a business man years ago. Thankful that the majority who are churched  live by the Word!

Our church is still not open.  Three friends here (plus me) are starting a study tomorrow.
We are extra careful because of heavy smoke so we will sit indoors for sure.

From Chris Saunders

"But you have fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, patience, love, long-suffering.
2 Tim. 3.
Timothy had travelled with Paul and heard him Preach and teach, and so He knew Paul's character, nature, way of life.
Do people know what we stand for, do they know what we will not stand for, do they think they have us figured out, they might have some idea, but they don't have us figured out, simply because "those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God." And Spiritual things are foolishness to the natural man, he doesn't understand them.
But people should know how far they can go with us, we have morals , standards, we are God fearing, rather willing to offend men than to offend Our God and Saviour.
Let this be our way of life to stand up for what is right and Godly.
If we offend the world then that is only right because the world offends us.
Looking at the news this morning on my phone, just makes we want to say " Lord get me out of here!"
And in His good time He will.
Different strokes for different folks eh?

I was listening to one of the good radio pastors this week while I was driving.  He was preaching on a verse in Timothy. He said that the letters to Timothy were the last letters Paul had written before he died.
That got me thinking, if I was to write a letter to a person what would I be able to say???
Interesting concept Right?

Well Gilbert and Sonja both have Covid. They refused to get vaccinated and probably still won't. They came here last Sunday to bring me eggs. Tuesday the got tested and Friday got the results,( they must have been sick when they were here) Saturday Gilbert told me he got it first doesn't know where he got it. (he works for an Oxygen company) So they must have been sick when they came here. Anyway I have an appointment to be tested tomorrow. I'd rather be safe and know  if I might be asymptomatic even though vaccinated. I heard that the Delta Variant incubation period is only 3-5 day. That news was certainly something I didn't want to hear. Other than that news All is well here.

I'm Here!!  Just been busy with the books to movie project.  They have decided it will be a documentary, and they will have me read it, so using my own voice.  It's coming along nicely, I'm happy to say.  When finished, it will be on Netflix, and should be an hour and 15 minutes long.

Phew!  It's HOT here!  Was 104 yesterday and they predict same for today and tomorrow.  That will keep us near the air conditioning!

Good to "hear" from Carol, Judy, Jacqueline and Marilyn.  Hope you all are staying healthy.  We are doing great!  Happy to be leaving on a bus trip on Sunday to the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone, with traveling friends from Hugoton.  Ten days trip.

That's all the news from my little corner of the world!  See you later!

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Tim 4.

Here is a man not afraid to die, for to be with Christ is far better, most people are afraid to die because they are going into the unknown.. But Paul knew his Lord and Saviour, he had conversed with Him, been called by Him, chosen by Him to be the Apostle to us Gentiles, he longed to be away from all his suffering, he had truly suffered for Christ, whipped, stoned, imprisoned, it takes it's toll on you physically, but spiritually he was one of the strongest men who ever lived, like one of the Old Testament Prophets Paul lived for Christ and was willing to die for Christ, death had no fear for him. What a great man.
But we too can live a life without fear, perfect love casts out all fear, the more we love and follow and trust and obey our Lord and Saviour, the less we shall fear death, it has lost it's sting, for Jesus carries the keys of death and hell. He is Victor over all, through the cross.
Like Paul, let us fight a good fight, not being corrupted by anything the world offers, but looking unto Him Who washed us in His own Blood.
Keep the faith brothers and sisters.
He is coming soon.
Semper Fidelis.

"Paul, a servant of God, and an Apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's Elect and the acknowledging of the truth, which is after Godliness. Titus 1.

Pauls credentials are here in writing.. God's servant.. An Apostle.. One of God's Elect.
We are, like Paul, chosen by God, called by Christ, convicted by the Holy Spirit, confessing our sins we are cleansed, and redeemed, sealed by the Spirit for all eternity.
But none of us are Apostles, none of us have seen the risen Christ.
According to faith, says Paul, by grace through faith, that is the salvic way, the Truth as in Jesus Christ is the way of Godliness, we are convicted by the Truth, that we are sinners bound for hell, we are saved by the truth that Jesus Christ, God in human flesh took our punishment upon the cross, and now we walk in truth, preaching truth. We must live the truth and be true to Him who called us for now we know that the truth has set us free. Godliness is our aim.

"At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me, I pray God it will not be laid to their charge. Notwithstanding the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that by me the preaching might be fully known and that all the Gentiles might hear, and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto His Heavenly Kingdom, to Whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. " 2 Tim. 4.
Paul has to summon up great courage to finish this letter to Timothy. Everyone has left him. He is all alone in prison except for his faithful brother in Christ Luke, what a comfort it is to have Luke there, someone who is steadfast, strong, faithful, who understands the need for fellowship, cold Roman prisons would be terrible places to spend your last day's. Jesus once said "will you leave me also? " To His disciples, and Peter replied, Lord to whom would we go, You have the words of Eternal Life? "
Paul even during this lonely time relies upon the Presence of Jesus rather than men or women, I'm sorry to say that many a time people upon whom you relied will let you down, but our Lord is with us always, and His promise"I will never fail you nor forsake you" can bring strength to the heavy soul. Loneliness strikes us all at some time in our lives, no one escapes trials, few of us will be in a stone prison, but spiritual, emotional prisons can be worse, fear hits us, and we need to call upon our Lord Who is Mighty to save, and save to the uttermost. Nil Desperandum.

Way to go Marilyn! so pleased for you!

A week ago I had a rough time.... wound up straining my back.
I am having difficulty breathing and moving. I can only lie on my right side or on my back.  Typically I sleep on my belly.. Tomorrow I have to pick up my bus for the coming year, and the New Year begins.  I am dreading tomorrow and the coming week or two.  I have no idea how long the healing process will be.  Please be praying for me that God would reach down and heal the muscles especially on the right side.  Thank you.

:)  Reporting in!
Marilyn:  Yea!  I cannot wait for the third shot or whatever it is called.  Between our filthy air from all the fires and the virus it has made half the people here crabby and awful drivers - plus an uptick in shootings.  Our ancestors braved terrible troubles and did so well - too many people are used to being pampered, that is my guess.  Right now, I am mourning the loss of our troops and dreading what is to come.  We need to lean on the Lord.

Janet:  Best wishes on your work of love.  Isn't that exciting?  Take care.

Judy:  Can you find a stretchy wide band at the drug store - I have to pull that out when back aches take over and it does help. Proper name would be back support. You might need muscle relaxer too.  Take care.  Pray for your recovery and for Hello to John also.

I have been occupied for a bunch of stuff.  My birthday is over - we had a wonderful gathering (yes, all shots completed. It made me teary-eyed just to see all our children and two grands for a feast here.  One son flew in from Montana and stayed two days - always finds things to fix for us.  I was so taken aback by my wonderful family.

Tuesday night was the quilters group meeting.  Wednesday morning was the brand new bible study on women of faith by Max Lucado.  At my house.  Let me tell you, I was exhausted from all the company - love it and never want it to quit.  My mind is almost totally on our troops and all the good people trying to get out of Afghanistan.

Pray for peace.

The news on Afghanistan is grim.  Pray constantly for peace and safety.

"Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself, a peculiar people, zealous of good works." Titus 2.
Redeemed how I love to proclaim it,
Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb,
Redeemed through his infinite mercy,
His child and forever I am...
The old Hymns are so scriptural. So encouraging, so truthful.
A lot of the modern stuff are just singalongsongs..
We are justified, sanctified, purified, by  Christ and Christ alone, by His work upon the cross, not by anything that we have done.
All grace, all mercy, all pardon.
We are purified and yet are still being purified, by test and trials, by fire.
Yes indeed, we are a peculiar, special people, called out ones. Chosen and called to good works which God has picked out for us before time. Let us indeed be zealous to confirm them, and to please Him whom we serve forever and ever. Amen.

Wonderful song - I do pray for peace and for the troops and all the good people.

I keep going back to the basement and the sewing machine.  This project is making a quilted throw out of all leftover fabric.  The fabric is cotton and all warm colors and all cut in strips and I don't know what I am doing but sewing stuff together.  It'll be what it wants to be.

We heard that there is to be another shot of anti virus coming - cannot wait.  We do everything they tell us to do.  A cousin's daughter is a nurse and she lost her job because she refused the virus shot.  Meanwhile, the worst thing here is our air quality.  It is just awful from all the fires - most in other states.  Here, the aftermath of fires has cause deadly mud slides.  Rain is predicted here for a few days and that is going to clear the air at least for a while.

Chris:  Thank you for reminding us of being redeemed.  Take care!
