JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Hi everyone.  I have about 15 minutes before I need to leave again for awhile this morning.  I see there haven't been too many postings since I posted yesterday.  I expect folks are busy with Easter activities and travel.

It has turned very chilly here today and I don't really care for it although God has given us a gorgeous day to go with it and the house is warm so I have no complaints.  I brought the few flowers we have outside into the garage last night and will probably leave them in today and tomorrow night and then it is going to warm up again.

Colin, thanks for the lovely poem.  It is good to see you posting and good Easter wishes to you as well as to all the folks here on CP.  Easter is the time to rejoice in the arisen Lord and what it means to us.

Marilyn, glad to read that you have finished with the costumes.  You were able to use your gift of sewing ability for the glory of God as you made these costumes.

Pat, no snow here but it sure is chilly.  Hope the snow doesn't last long up your way.

Ruth Ann, that sounds like a very sobering experience you had at the Maundy Thursday service.  Have a wonderful time with your family here in Atlanta.

Janet, congratulations on fixing your printer.  I use two printers here in my office, one for routine printing and one when I want better quality and good color.  You can have more than one printer installed and when you go to print just drop down the little arrow and select the one you want to use.  The ink I use in my everyday printer is much less expensive than the better printer.

Al, I sometimes wonder about some of the heart procedures I have had but feel I have a good doctor.

Hi Etta Sue and all who stop by today.  Time to go.

karmat

I just got in from taking Travis snowboarding in the back yard.  Looks like we will be having a white Easter, unless it warms up dramatically tonight. ???

Right now, Kristi and Bernard are playing with some of Trav's little army guys.  When Bernard goes back to work in 3 or 4 weeks (or whenever), I'm going to have my hands full.  I know a little girl that absolutely LOVES having her daddy at home. :)

Have a great day.  I'm going to go scrounge something up to eat. I'm hungry.

Etta Sue

Al ~ There are evil and greedy people in this world including some doctors.  I am so sorry you had to encounter one of them but happy that you didn't go along with his surgery request.

Marilyn ~ I am glad to read that you are all done with the costumes.  I know that is a fulfilling experience to finally complete a large project.  Your Easter pageant will be special with the lovely costumes.

Janet ~ You better believe if I were closer, I would come for Easter dinner.  So far I haven't been invited anywhere.  So I will probably have Taco Bell or maybe make it special lunch and go to Mountain Mikes for a Grilled Chicken Breast and the fixin's.  Like I say, if you don't want me to go somewhere with you, don't ask!   ;)

Pat ~ I have been having a busy but great Passover week.  And yes, it did snow here yesterday.  Suppose to be April Showers but we had April Snowflakes!!

Ruth Ann ~ Your service sounds humbling.  I went last evening to Ivalou's church.  I felt Jesus in the church.  I read in my devotions today that someone said Happy Christmas on Easter Sunday at a church.  A lady replied...You can't have one without the other.  True...so true!

Nards ~ Hey, the family that stays together prays together.  We are family!

Colin ~ Thanks again for a very poignant poem!

Larry ~ Seems our fruit trees won't bear fruit this year because of the week-long freezes at night that we have sustained here.  We have several apple orchards around and the owners say that when they cut open the blossoms, they are brown...dead.  Sad for their livelihood!  I am sure that some crops in the south are damaged as well.  Short spring this year...week before last!

Karma ~ My mind is picturing Daddy and his little girl playing with army guys.  Cute picture.  Also picturing Mommy and Trav snowboarding in the back yard.  Cute picture.  That's the way life should be.

Good Friday service was touching last evening.  It is mind-boggling to realize without Christ, where would we be?  We are saved by grace though the blood of Christ.

Not much going on today.  Just preparing for Easter Sunday even though that doesn't take much preparing for me.  I love the Christian Holidays!!

Howdy!

As part of our fund-raising for the Ladies' Conference, there is a Mother/Daughter/Granddaughter/Whatever Tea this afternoon at the 4-H building.  I will be meeting Diane to pick up Abby about 11:30.  Abby is so excited; she has gathered up NINE outfits to share with the little girls, and, she said, nine things to go with the dresses.  They will have a lot of fun dressing up.  I gathered up a load of jewelry, scarves, handbags, hats, gloves, shoes, etc. for them to use, too.  Should be a lot of "Kodak moments!"

It is cold here, too.  My daughter in Salina said they had six inches of snow, and that the Easter Bunny better come sledding down the trail, because if he comes hopping, he might fall and break his little head!  She's a funny girl, so much fun.

I have more prep work to do for Easter dinner.  I hope you are all doing great and remembering our dear Jesus' sacrifice for us.  I know you are.

HE IS RISEN

The agony and death of the cross are done
For He has cried "It is finished" and died
The blood He shed is freely given
To cleanse the soul that comes to Him

Now the winter of the soul with its sin and death is past
As the light of His love and mercy shines
It melts away the cold and frost of the sinner's heart
New life is given and a brand new start

For Jesus no longer lies in the grave
He has risen and lives today
He calls to all to come to Him
Who defeated death and sin

Come walk with Him our risen Saviour
What joy to be found this Easter morn
Come and rejoice and raise your voice
For He has conquered death and is risen

I have been to Curves, and have 1 load of laundry folded and put away, another in the dryer and a sweater in the washer.  I have put all the costumes in the car as it has been raining here this morning and I wanted to get them in there while the rain had stopped.

Not much else going on here. The kids are going to be with friends tomorrow and as far as I know at this time I will be here at home by myself as usual.

STEPS

Wearied and bruised; His blood running red
Flowing down from the wounds in His thorn crowned head
Up Calvary hill to die there for me
The steps of Jesus carried Him on towards the tree

The grass of that hill felt the soles of His feet
Which once were bathed in a perfume so sweet
How many steps it took we do not know
Before nails pierced feet and hands with cruel hammer blow

They jarred His body as they lifted Him high
Stood around and mocked and watched Him die
The steps of other men carried Him to the grave
But Jesus is raised now and willing to save

The steps we take carry us towards death
God knows their number before fading breath
Leaves our nostrils and bids us farewell
And before us is eternity in Heaven or Hell

The footsteps of the wicked carry them astray
The steps of the redeemed delight to walk in God's way
For they are ordered by the Lord as they walk by His side
With God's law in their hearts none of their steps shall slide

The Lord will give to us that which is good
Although His ways we know not and are not understood
But His righteousness goes before us as He leads day by day
And shall set up our steps as we go on our way

Yes; God sees my way and my steps He does count
I know not their tally or how much they will amount
But I know each one is ordered by His word
And each step I take brings me nearer home to my lord

Christ suffered for you to lead you His way
New steps in direction take by trusting Him today
His hand is there for you; His promises are not hollow
And He will lead you safely home if His steps you will follow

HE IS RISEN

Where is He who was brought in?
Carried dead from Calvary Hill
His wound scarred body wrapped in white death shroud
And in this tomb lay stiff and still

Three days ago His blood was spilled
Death's dark hand came to close His eyes
And in triumphant call, it is finished
A suffering Saviour bows His head and dies

Dark the tomb where He was laid
Its coldness wrapped Him there alone
And to its doorway to seal forever
They closed Him in with mighty stone

And now the question, who will answer
Where is He who quietly lay?
An angel spoke, He is risen
And to let you see God has rolled the stone away

For it could never seal Him in
Death could not keep Him in its hold
Why seek the living among the dead
See His death shroud lying in empty fold

Then rejoice, for He is living
Lift your hearts from deep despair
Soon the clouds of sky will welcome up
The Son of God ascending in the air

Tell to now a world of sinners
There is release from sins dark prison
Hope and life in Him simply because
Jesus Christ the Lord is risen!

Colin:  Thanks for your poetry.

Jeannine:  You have lovely poetry as well.

We had a wonderful Saturday night service, does anyone still call it Holy Saturday?  The songs were geared towards children and youth to remind us that we are Children of God.  There were five baptisims as well.

Marilyn:  Such a great gift you have and the stamina to sew so many costumes.

Ruth Ann:  Our church has the Maundy Thursday service of stripping of the altar and we are to enter and leave in total silence.  The Friday night service is very plain as well

Just learned that a hospital in the area will no longer name religious days such as Christmas or Easter and no extra pay for working those days - to be treated as regular days of the year.  This is in Greeley, Colorado.  I won't comment more on this glorious Easter morning.

Good afternoon from Snuggles Velvet Ears!  Church was awesome as always but today seemed more awesome.  We are alive because Jesus arose from the grave!

I ate at Mountain Mike's.  At first I was sad because I was alone and everyone else in the restaurant was with family dining.  Then I realized I am never alone.  Jesus is in my heart always.  So I dined today and celebrated with Jesus!

But now that I am home and my body is winding down, I feel a nap coming on....ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Bugs Cottontail sends Easter Greetings!  (sounds like I am about to heist the choc. eggs.... :o)

Our days are sort of half and half right now.....part sun, part rain.  Get ready to break out the Spring clothes and end reaching for the heavy jacket.  This is certainly messing thing up for the farmers, etc.

I cooked a nice ham dinner for the kids on Friday and they are eating the rest today.  Wendy is making a turkey dinner on Monday as it is SIL's birthday.  Made a pumpkin pie with whipped cream, etc.  So, no lack of goodies this holiday.  I am spending a quiet day today, coming down with a cold.  Only real sign of Spring!

A friend sent this poem to me:

IT WASN'T THE NAILS

It wasn't the nails,
holding Jesus that day.
and it wasn't the soldiers
that caused Him to stay.

It wasn't the nails
through His hands and feet,
that wouldn't allow our
Lord to retreat.

His love held him there,
on the cross, in our place...
an amazing display of
His infinite grace.

As He paid the price
for a life that prevails,
love held Him there...
it wasn't the nails.

             :)

Well, time to hit the bunny trail.  Hope all have a wonderful and blessed Easter.

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Hey Etta Sue!  Me too :D  (Only it was Kozy Kitchen for me)  A man at the next table paused on his way by me and said "Are you all alone?  You shouldn't be alone, it's Easter!"  I replied that I'm never alone ... and besides that, I was with a whole room full of people.   :)   His response was "True, and God will supply all your needs."

Yup, I know that and I trust HIM to do just that, every day!

Hello hello hello.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Resurrection Day!!  We are just relaxing and taking it easy today.  A nap sounds good right now.  :)

This week is THE week.  Bernard is seemingly calm about the whole surgery thing.  I, however, get a stomach full of butterflies everytime I think about it.  Guess I need to put them in formation and give them marching orders.

I hope everyone has an awesome day.

Marilyn, How did the costumes do?

Janet

It's good to read about the different Easter services and read the meaningful poetry.  Yes, indeed it was the LOVE that held Him on the cross, and that same love holds us in our times of testing.  What a mighty God we serve!

We had a really good discussion in Sunday School today, too.  After church, we picked up Beth from the Home, and shortly after we got home, Diane and Jeff arrived.  We enjoyed having them, they stay so busy they don't get here very often.  Usually we go to their house.  Everybody has gone back now, all the food is put away (not much left) and dishes all washed and returned to their places.  It's a good feeling.

I will be back later to start a new week in here, but for now will add more poetry.

               EASTER HOPE
The darkened tomb is empty now
Gone is the deep despair;
The risen Lord on garden path
Gives hope beyond compare.

In Christ we have forgiveness
With his blood He bought our sins;
In Him there's Easter promise
He rose to live again.

He is the Way, the Truth, the Life
Through faith in Him we come
To enter in through Heaven's gate
When this life's work is done.

Because Christ died and now He lives
Our hearts rejoice today;
No longer need we fear the tomb,
The stone is rolled away.

Hi everyone.

We had a nice Easter today except my wife hasn't felt good and wasn't up to going to church this morning.  However, my daughter, who was here for the weekend, and I attended.  Our choir sang a joyous song called "Joy in the Morning", which is one of my favorities.  I hadn't thought of it as an Easter anthem but it certainly fit.  Our church was full today and it sure looked good.

We had put a ham in the oven about 10:30 and my daughter had prepared a green been casserole.  When we got home Pat had the meal on the table, which was a pleasant surprise.  We had a delicious meal and afterwards I had a nice nap.  Around 3:30 my daughter was ready to return to her apartment so I took her down to Atlanta.  Just been enjoying my easy chair since I got home.

I have not been able to get my Gmail on my desktop but rather would get a message that I needed to turn on cookie functionality.  I did everything I could think of and searched the Internet for an answer without success.  Today I decided to download the Opera browser and was very happy to see that it opened the Gmail without a hitch.  Tomorrow I plan to duplicate my hard drive on a new hard disk I have had on the shelf for sometime now that I won't have to reinstall Windows.

I think I will take a pass on the bunny name.  :)  However, there were some cute names.

Karmat, I think you are experiencing what I was talking about that things are often harder for the loved one than the one having the surgery.  I found it was very useful to say a prayer and put myself in God's care when I left the room.
