Morning Devotional...
Jesus and the Rich Man
Mark 10:17-31 NLT
As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
"Why do you call me good?" Jesus asked. "Only God is truly good. But to answer your question, you know the commandments: 'You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. You must not cheat anyone. Honor your father and mother.'"
"Teacher," the man replied, "I've obeyed all these commandments since I was young."
Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him. "There is still one thing you haven't done," he told him. "Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
At this the man's face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.
Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!" This amazed them. But Jesus said again, "Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God. In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!"
The disciples were astounded. "Then who in the world can be saved?" they asked.
Jesus looked at them intently and said, "Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God."
Then Peter began to speak up. "We've given up everything to follow you," he said.
"Yes," Jesus replied, "and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life. But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then."
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.earthlink.net%2F%7Eettasue9842%2Fsitebuildercontent%2Fsitebuilderpictures%2Fstarblinking.gif&hash=d53900a37baea9ad7e55de7768716cba8c77fe07)What is the most difficult thing Jesus could ask you to give up?
This young man wanted to be sure he would get eternal life, so he asked what he could do. He said he'd never once broken any of the laws Jesus mentioned, but Jesus lovingly broke through his pride with a challenge that brought out his true motives: "Sell all you have and give the money to the poor."
Here was the barrier that could keep this young man out of the Kingdom: his love of money.
Money represented his pride of accomplishment and self-effort. Ironically, the young man's attitude made him unable to keep the first commandment, to let nothing be more important than God (Exodus 20:3). He could not meet the one requirement Jesus gave--to turn his whole heart and life over to God. The man came to Jesus wondering what he could do; he left knowing what he was unable to do.
What barriers are keeping you from turning your life over to Christ?

It seems there are a lot of people on Christian Photographers who are hurting and ailing. Let's keep them in our prayers as this week passes by. Since I am not to talk after 9am Tuesday for week, what better time and chance to pray? I know prayers will be going to God for Judy Mc, Norm Mc, Nards, Ruth Ann, Darrel and our fearless leader, Pat. I am sorry if I missed anyone but know that God knows you are hurting and ailing. God Bless All of You!

Thank you for the devotional today Etta Sue.
YOu are so right about people wanting to "do it" on their own terms. I listen to the girls wanting to help each other with dishes or whatnot but it has to be on their own terms. This comes into serving for Christ. They are willing to serve, not to do what is needed but rather what they want, in their own way. Is that indeed service? I don't think so.
We have another beautiful day, windy again but the wind is drying. Tonight we have small group, only 3 more nights left to the end times study. This study has been so interesting, and not at all confrontational.... That is how Bible study should be.
We have ordered 5 dozen chicks. They are broillers, for freezing. I am excited about this, it is a first time for me. It will be June before they arrive.
I have to go, Laundry to attend to.
Like Etta Sue, I am praying for the many needs represented here. There are people hurting and just not saying anything. Know you ARE prayed for.
JudyB
Hello everyone.
Just stopping in quickly to catch up on all that I have missed.
I'm glad to hear that Nards and Judy Mc are on the mend.
Now must get back to work, there is much to do right now.
Ivalou and I went to Noblesville. I went to get some yarn to crochet an afghan for Nancy and Walter's 50th Anniversary which will be celebrated May 26. I will be crocheting as fast as my hands will crochet!
When I got back there was a message on my answering machine from the Surgery Center saying my surgery is at 8:15am and I am to be there an hour early...7:15am. My paperwork says surgery at 10am and be there at 9am. There was a cancellation so I am to be there at 7:15am.
Hi everyone.
I thought this would be a very quiet day but it has been anything but that. I told Pat I would go to the grocery store for her as this was the day for the housekeeper and she wanted to be here as we need some special cleaning because my sister and her husband will be here next week. This included things like cleaning out under some cabinets and getting the upstairs room ready for them with a curtain at the window and a new bed ensemble. They got that done but didn't have time to clean the screened in porch or the garage so our housekeeper is coming back on Friday to attend to those things.
I had to stop by the post office, the bank (just through the drive thru window, Kaiser to pick up some medicine and then to the computer store for something I wanted to get. Next I did some major grocery shopping at Aldis and then at Krogers. It was about noon when I got home and after putting up the groceries Pat and I went to Zaxby's for chicken salads for lunch. I came home as had to rest as was exhausted.
The yard people are hear right now attending to the yard.
Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional. Just think by having your surgery earlier you will also have it over sooner and that week when you can't speak will end a few hours sooner than you expected. I will be thinking about you and praying for you tomorrow.
Judyb, we used to get baby chicks to raise each spring when I was growing up on the farm. Nothing much cuter. We must have gotten ours earlier because I remember having to fix light bulbs to be sure they stayed warm and a couple of times we had to have them in a box by the stove in the house when we first got them.
Marilyn, glad that pain went away in your back. Hope it doesn't come back. Your classes on finances sound interesting.
Al, glad to hear you are going to be able to make the trip for the graduation. Perhaps if you stop often and get out of the car often it will help as well as the shorter spans of travel.
Janet, sure hope Darrel is better soon. The last few weeks have not been his best time.
Have some web work to do so will leave you with this cute reading that someone sent my wife today. Some of you may have seen it before but it brings a smile to the face.
Little Zachary
Little Zachary was doing very badly in math. His parents had tried everything... Tutors, Mentors, flash cards, Special learning centers. In short, everything they could think of to help his math.
Finally, in a last ditch effort, they took Zachary down and enrolled him in the local Catholic school. After the first day, little Zachary came home with a very serious look on his face. He didn't even kiss his mother Hello. Instead, he went straight to his room and started studying. Books and papers were spread out all over the room and little Zachary was hard at work. His mother was amazed. She called him down to dinner.
To her shock, the minute he was done, he marched back to his room without a word, and in no time, he was back hitting the books as hard as before. This went on for some time, day after day, while the mother tried to understand what made all the difference.
Finally, little Zachary brought home his report card. He quietly laid it on the table, went up to his room and hit the books. With great trepidation, his Mom looked at it and to her great surprise, little Zachary got an "A" in math. She could no longer hold her curiosity. She went to his room and said, "Son, what was it? Was it the nuns?" Little Zachary looked at her and shook his head, no. "Well, then," she replied, "Was it the books, the discipline, the structure, the uniforms? WHAT WAS IT ALREADY?"
Little Zachary looked at her and said, "Well, on the first day of school when I saw that guy nailed to the plus sign, I knew they weren't fooling around."
We are packed and ready to go except for the grocery items in a cooler. Last minute phone calls. It is very windy right now.
Janet: I have been making cards on the computer for many years and now Don likes to find some and does the same. It is so much fun to specialize each card. Sorry about Darrel not feeling well.
Ruth Ann: A tax holiday - that would be a great thing to have to look forward to at times.
Pat: Nice news about Judy M.
Larry: It is very nice that your sister is coming for a visit. She doesn't want to wear you and Pat out I guess - anyway, have a lovely visit.
Carol
Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional. I appreciate it. I've often thought about that parable and the implications of it.
Also, I'll be praying tonight for you, and especially tomorrow. You'll be in surgery as I am driving to work - will be praying (as usual), but will focus on you tomorrow.
Hi, friends, it's so good to hear from everyone else, too. If I don't respond to you by name, rest assured I've read your message in its entirety, as I always do. I always return to my last posting and read forward from there.
Marilyn, having suffered lots of back pain, I can be thankful with you that you're so much better.
Janet, at least maybe you can help Darryl with his diabetes during this time. Be sure to ask the doctor to educate y'all as to what to do on sick days. Mine says to take regular jello, regular soft drinks, gatorade and maybe sips of water. Very little food until the stomach begins to right itself. It's also really important to test blood sugars very often (for certain 2 hours after ingesting anything with calories) to be certain that he doesn't fall too low. And, of course, if he climbs too high, you'll want to be certain he's covered himself with his diabetes medication. Also, please note there's a normal body reaction where, I believe it's the liver that kicks in a bunch of body-made sugars into the blood when the body has dropped really low. That's why sometimes my blood sugar will be slightly less than 100 at bedtime, and with no bedtime snack, it sometimes is as high as, say, 120-130. That's when I know I've had a low sometime in the night, if I haven't awakened with symptoms and checked my sugars.
Well, y'all, too much about diabetes, but want to help where I can.
Hope all have a great evening.
Ruth Ann
Etta Sue ~ Thanks for the devotional. I, too, will be praying for you tonight and in the morning ... that's really early for me, y'know. I know all things will go well for you.
I am also still rlaying for COMPLETE recovery for Judy Mc, Nards, and Pat ... as well as Ruth Ann, Marilyn, and all others on the list. God knows each need and He has the perfect answer for each.
I'm not usually upset by things but this evening I am really ticked! :ticked:
My daughter Joy's birthday (50th) was a week ago Saturday--the 21st. She and her husband John are in California and working on their home. In the process they have given a 30 day notice to the renters and they should be out as of today. Well, in email, I asked Joy where I could send her Birthday card (with enclosed gift) and she said to send it to THEIR address in Citrus Heights. She said the young lady renting, who is the daughter of one of their friends, "sure BETTER see that I get my mail."
So .... I sent the card in plenty of time. Today it was returned marked "unable to deliver, no forwarding address on file." NOW what do I do? Joy has no phone available and only gets on the computer at a friends' house or the library (which she hasn't had a chance to get to since they are working non-stop fixing up their house) and now she thinks I didn't even recognize her big FIVE OH day!
I just emailed her -- she'll get it whenever she happens to get to a computer -- and apologized profusely but I'm still miffed that she didn't get her card, gift, or a phone call for her big day. Whatta revoltin' development this is!!! :ticked:
Okay, I'll simmer down and see if perhaps she gets my email and can call or email me with further instructions.
Until then ........... see y'all later.
Hello, friends.
After another night of very little sleep, we got up before daybreak, drove to Amarillo, sat in the doctor's waiting room for two hours....such fun. :P Anyway, Dr. Friesen checked Darrel over, heart is doing well. I told him about the past week and how sick Darrel has been; he checked him again, asking questions, and said "That isn't a virus; it is E-coli!" He prescribed Cipro for him, and gave orders for lab tests, blood and urine. He said he's had seven cases of E-Coli in his office since Christmas. I'm so glad I mentioned it, otherwise there's no telling how long Darrel would be sick. His fever is still raging, then falling and he gets chills; it is wearing him out! He didn't even feel up to driving, so I was his chauffeur today.
We did manage to make contact with his sister and bro-in-law, met them for lunch and had a nice visit. His sister's health is failing, and she has aged at least 10 years since we saw her a few months ago. We also visited Darrel's mom, who is 94. Then on the way home, we stopped in Hugoton for a little while to see our kids there. So it was a full day. Darrel is snoring away as I type, and I hope he rests much better than he has been doing.
Ruth Ann, thanks for the good advice about the diabetes. I am trying to be a much better and more watchful "nurse."
Al, glad you can go to graduation. Marilyn, glad your back is healed. Hope Judy M feels better tomorrow.
Jane, sorry about the returned card, and hope Joy understands. Not your fault!
Larry, so nice that your sister is coming. Don't you and Pat wear yourselves out with the preparations, just enjoy the company.
Etta Sue, special prayers for you tomorrow. Another good devotional, too!
We got home around 10:00 and I need to hit the sack. Lots to do tomorrow.
Good morning, everyone. Not a lot of time to chat, but I wanted to say hello :) I thank all of you for your continued prayers. Janet, sure glad to hear they got Darrel on some antibiotics for that! I'm allergic to Cipro, but it should definitely take care of the stuff!
God bless all of you.
Good Morning. Janet I am sorry to hear that Darrell has e-Coli. I am wondering if a lot of this awful flu that keeps hanging on and coming back on people might also be e-Coli. I am sure you are being a wonderful nurse for him.
I will be anxiously awaing word from Etta Sue on how it all went for her today.
All is well here It is going to be raining for the rest of the week. If it stops for long enough in the afternoons I will be taking the dogs out for their walks,.
I have a Univera Business meeting tonight. Soon we will be introducing a new product that cleans the arteries of plaque and lowers cholesterol without drugs just natural ingredients, it is in the testing phase right now. It will be interesting to find out what the ingredients are.
I have decided to try some Hoodia for losing some of the weight, It is taking too long to come off, in 6 months I have only lost 6 lbs and 6 inches.
Hi everyone. Another beautiful day here in Georgia but suppose to get close to 90 this afternoon. I will get the mail shortly, they just delivered it, and then won't have to get back out in the heat. We were away for a couple of hours this morning and have just now finished lunch.
Janet, glad that your made the doctor aware of the other problem. It seems that th e coli bacteria is appearing much more often in our food chain. Hope the cipro takes care of the problem. I have taken that several times trying to bring my PSA count down before the cancer was discovered. Of course, it didn't work for that. It sounds like Darrel really pushed himself yesterday with all the stops in addition to the doctor visit. Hope you can take a nap today and rest better tonight.
Marilyn, look at the glass as half full in that you have kept the 6 pounds off and lost the 6 inches. Send us some of your rain please.
Hi Nards, glad to see you posting today.
Jane, I am sure your daughter will understand that you didn't forget her birthday and that what happened was totally out of your hands. We can never control the actions of others.
Hi Etta Sue.
Carol, have a good trip (I realize they have probably already left).
Time for a nap and then more work on the website for the Golden Olympics. I am totally revising the website and it is a bit of work.

Good evening! Thanks for the wonderful prayers. Surgery went fine. I even ate broccoli cheese soup at Panera Bread for lunch. I went to sleep when we got back home. Ivalou fixed a nice (soft) dinner and I feel great now. My neck is a little sore...feels like I have mumps. And my throat is a little tender but no wonder! I know I will sleep better tonight than I did last night. Again, I have to be careful not to talk for a week and then I can try my Big Girl voice out!
And thanks to everyone for the wonderful comments on the devotion this week! We all love money but this man LOVED money!
Prayers are for those of you who are hurting and ailing or have problems of any kind. God knows who and what they are. God Bless Each And Everyone of You! ?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

There hasn't been much activity here on the site today. I guess we all all busy people.
Darrel said Dr. Plumlee said "you really have a case of it!" when he checked his urinalysis. He gave him a big shot of antibiotics and Darrel got the Cipro filled. He sure acts as if he is feeling a lot better this evening.
I had lunch with my Youth Friend today. Only three weeks until school is out, and she is asking each week "Will you be my Youth Friend again next year?" Of course I say yes, as we have barely gotten acquainted so far. She's a sweet little girl.
Darrel's sister gave us a big box of music yesterday, from their mother's house. she won't be using it, and none of her family will, either. I was like a kid in a candy store!! I spent four hours going through it, lots of really old stuff in there. One book was published in 1906. I know so many of the old songs, and can't wait to learn to play them. I had my lesson today and the teacher said I am doing wonderfully well, but I just want to learn faster!! Practice, practice, practice........... :)
Carol, the cards we made had nothing to do with the computer. We used scrapbooking supplies. But I wish I knew how to make cards on the computer. Not enough hours or days to learn all I'd like to do.
Tomorrow our Red Hats group are going to a Bed and Breakfast in Garden City for High Tea. Should be fun. Five of us are car pooling together.
Etta Sue, so glad to hear our prayers are being answered in your behalf. One week without talking will give you something to talk about for a long time!! ;) In Scouting, to earn the Order of the Arrow, the boys must not speak for 24 hours, and that is very difficult for most of them, so if you know any Scouts, they can commiserate with you---after a week, that is. ((((hugs))))
etta Sue, it's great to "hear" you tonight! I've thought often of you today and stopped to pray each time. In fact, at work, a lady tapped me on the arm as she passed my cubicle, for she was worried that I was in pain from my hand surgery! I just told her I was praying for a friend who had surgery today.
Jane-If your daughter knows where she's going to be, especially if she's going to be there a few days, you can send it to her at General Delivery and it will be held at the Post Office for her to pick up. I can certainly understand your frustration (and hers, too). Right now her lifestyle really makes it difficult to communicate.
Janet, thank goodness your hubby's problem has been diagnosed and he's receiving treatment.
Nards, how good to hear from you. Do take care, friend, we care and are praying for excellent results for you and your family.
Hypergirl16, is there anything I can do to help?
Pat, I miss seeing you. I certainly hope you're improving. Understand chronic health problems, and would like to bear some of your burden. Just do remember we're all praying for you.
Larry, thanks for being such a good and reliable host - it's so interesting to read about your activities.
Samantha, take care of yourself.
JudyB, and Carol, and Sue, Al, Nita, and several others - while I don't often "speak" to you individually, do know I love you and consider you a friend. We ce3rtainly enjoy your posts.
Y'all have a good evening.
Ruth Ann
Well This has been a day and a half. Kassie has been grumpy, I think she is just plain tired. She is into reading a lot....even after lights out and as a result she is tired. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
We have beautiful weather just now. Pretty soon I will be mowing...Woohoo That is a job I love. We have the tractor in for repairs, and hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Well I gotta go, Etta Sue, Nards, Pat, Al, Judy and Norm, Darryl and ohhh who have I missed? KNOW you are prayed for.
God Bless
JudyB
Thanks, Janet, Larry and Ruth Ann, for your thoughts. I realize I should have put c/o the address ... oh well, now it's just wait and see what will happen-- when Joy will be able to access a computer--and/or she calls me. It really is not such a big deal except this mom really feels alienated from her familly at times and so wanted to be able to help this daughter celebrate her big FIVE OH day.... God knows. And this is not such a big deal in the major scheme of things. Y'all have a great day and know that I am praying for all y'all ... I really do love all my friends/family here at CP
Etta Sue~I am so glad things turned out okay for you....now all you have to do is remember to keep your mouth shut for a week .... yeah, right! Like that's an easy assignment.... :-\
Jane I too understand how you feel about family. You are right when you say God Knows. He knows our heart aches. Just keep on keeping on in prayer. He hears and answers in His time.......that is the hard part.....waiting His timing!
Have a good night and God Bless
JudyB
Jane you know the situation in my family and I know I should have said something to you but it is not too late to let you know that I am thinking of you and praying for you.
I wonder why when we get older we seem to dwell on one thing until it becomes a real big deal in our lives. Last night my client called me again after I was already in bed to tell me again that she would prefer that I come later in the evening to prepare her supper like 6PM. She had worker herself into being so upset that she was in tears. I have let her know that I am still coming to have her supper ready by 5pm so I can get home and prepare my own supper, that going back at 6 really made too long of a day for me. On Tuesday I have a meeting at 7 pm and on Wednesday I have prayer at 6 and Bible study at 7.
There have been times when something happened in my life that kept me awake all night dwelling on a situation. In truth it still happens.
Jane this has nothing to do with you, it is just a thought I had after the phone call last night.
ME, Jane! Me, me, me!! I'm the one you forgot! Among others.......... :) Shall I fret about it? :-\ ::)............Nah! Just being silly here.
Good morning everyone! Darrel is better this morning, will go back for another shot today. I called our friends in Nebraska who ate in the same places we did, to warn them that if they were sick, to get help. One of them was.
See you later, off to "High Tea." :cup:
Hello everyone!
Had to take Norm to Hamilton yesterday to get Judy's extra bags and things as they have suggested that in the next day or two, they will be transferring her to Guelph Hospital.
That will certainly give me a bit more time to rest more.
Etta Sue! I'm thinking of you and praying for you.

Thanks, Janet, Larry and Ruth Ann, for your thoughts. I realize I should have put c/o the address ... oh I really do love all my friends/family here at CP
Ahem ....... You didn't see this????? huh?????? Yeah, I'm just being silly, too ... Love yah! <3
Sure am praying for Darrel as well as YOU during this stressful time with his illness.
BTW I didn't "forgot" anyone ... just rationing my words. LOL :D
Pat, I hope you know I am continuing to keep you and especially Judy and Norm in my prayers ... I've been told the worst thing you can do in a tunnel is to stop ... So y'all keep on and there really is a light at the end of this tunnel for each of you....AND it's not a train!
Thanks, Marilyn ... I do understand. :)

Pat, I couldn't get your little movie to work for me. Did anyone else or is it me?
I had a long great night of sleep last night. Oh, I was up several times but in between those times, I slept hard. Inky woke my up this morning with her purring and kneading my arm. Then she laid next to my face and reached out her paw and barely touched my cheek. That's her way of telling me it is time to get up! Both of the furgirls are on my bed right now sleeping! Oh, to have a cat's life!!
But I am fine this morning. Ivalou came over and rang the doorbell. I said, 'Come in!'. She came in and said, 'You aren't suppose to talk!!'. Oops! They said I am not to stress my vocal chords. Not to yell or whisper or have long conversations. So hopefully a few words aren't harmful. But those few words sounded normal to me...not raspy or hoarse!! Praise God for that!
Kinds of cool today in Indiana and overcast. Nice day to chill out and crochet while watching TV.
God Bless You who are ill and hurting. I am wondering if e-coli is Pat's problem also. Hmmm! And Praise God for those who are much better today!»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«

It should work.
I just tried it again and it did for me.
Do you see the YouTube movies on their site?
Hello, everyone :)
Etta, you be sure and not talk, now! :)
I hope all of you have a good day. Mine has been pretty good so far. Travis and my dad are down at the pond fishing :)
Hi everyone.
I have 8 minutes before I need to leave for choir practice. It has been another busy day as after coffee this morning I went to the church for Bible Study, then a few minutes with my friends from the class over at the Dunkin' Donut shop and then had a noon appointment with a new eye doctor for an annual checkup. My eyes are in fine shape with no evidence of disease. I do have the beginning of cataracts but the doctor said we all develop those as we get a little older and they are in very early stages of development. Have had a busy afternoon.
Nards, good to see you are having a pretty good day.
Pat, glad that JudyM may soon be returning to your town. Maybe you will be able to get more rest and recovery.
Etta Sue, sure glad you are doing so well. The week will fly by and then you will be chatting up a storm.
Janet, glad that Darrel is feeling better. Wish I could leaf through that box of old music. I have a folder of old music that I have had since I was a child and some of it was given to me and was old when I got it. I need to play the piano more often and you are right it is a matter of practice. You have the desire and you will succeed in your efforts. Glad you are enjoying the experience.
Marilyn, you are wise to draw the line when the demands are unreasonable. It sounds like your client has little else to think about and is certainly not concerned about your wellfare.
JudyB, I can't image loving the job of mowing the yard. I didn't really mind it but certainly didn't love it.
Well, my 15 minutes are up so a special hi to all I haven't mentioned that have posted.
We had a lovely time at the High Tea. They served us fancy "girl food" and a wonderful, fluffy peppermint cheesecake with hot fudge sauce at the end. MMMMM!
Darrel said when he walked into the doctor's office they commented that he looked so much better today; then when the doctor saw him he said the same thing, and that he didn't need the shot today. Praise God! And thanks to all of you who prayed for my honey. :)
Time to get ready for church----see you tomorrow!
That's the kind of good news we like to hear, Janet ... Also Ruth Ann and Nards and Etta Sue! As my grandson once said "Ain't God GOOD?"
I also have to report that Joy made it to her friend's computer and answered my email SOS this afternoon. She said I could remail the card, etc. c/o her friends since she's staying there at the moment.
She says they "regained possession" of their house yesterday and she's in the process of getting a phone connected (should be in a couple days) and a change of address registered at the P.O.
Since they've been in Mexico, they have maintained a Public Post Box in Laredo, TX and just have to rely on whenever someone (or themselves) happen to be coming from that direction to bring the mail in. Mexico does not have the most reliable mail service, y'know. In fact, she says, they don't have much mail service at all. :-\
Actually, Joy said, she was glad to learn the mail had been returned to me ... she knew I'd mailed her something and, when it didn't arrive, she worried that it was on its way to Laredo or even Mexico!
For the past four years, I have not been able to do more than send e-cards to acknowledge her special days because of the unreliablity or non-existent mail service in Mexico. That's why I was so happy to be able to mail her something for this momentous (50th) birthday. Then, to have even that not get to her, was a bit disconcerting, to say the least.
Anyway, all's well once again ... I remailed everything this evening.
She says she'll call me once she gets a phone connected ... has lots to tell me. I look forward to it.
peppermint cheesecake? Oh my goodness, that sounds GOOOOODDDDD. <karmat makes a mental note to look up a recipe).
jane, glad you "connected."
etta sue, I don't think I could go a week without talking. I'm pretty sure I couldn't, though Bernard probably wishes I would. :)
I've got to run. I'm putting the finishing touches on a cookbook my class at the Sr. Citizen's Center is doing (I'm the teacher), so we can get it ordered this week.
Take care.
Oh yea, glad to hear that Judy is moving closer, pat. I know that is a relief.
:)
We had a wonderful Women's Bible Study last night. WE had Luke 10 this week. we are doing 1 chapter per week.( we read each chapter for the whole week over and over) We pray before opening our Bibles at home and before each class for God to open our minds to understand the scriptures Luke 24:45 and According to Psalm 119: 18 for God to open our eyes to see wonderful things in his law. Also asking God to show us how we may apply that particular chapter to our own lives and how we can pray for ourselves what ever the message is in that chapter. We discuss what each of us individually got out of the chapter. I have been seeing things that I haven't noticed before.
Still raining here, oh my it sure did rain during the night, I usually don't hear it but I sure did last night. I even got up and looked out the window to see if it was sleet and it was.
Everything here is fine. No problems, good health, no aches or pains, good spirits. God is Good all the time.

Not so good today. Woke up with a sore throat but other than that I feel fine. I had troubles getting my morning pills down. One is a capsule and it got stuck but with lots of water, it went down. Ivalou came over and I 'wrote' to her about it all. She is having a blood draw this morning but said she would call the surgeons office when she gets back.
In the meantime, no dew today so I am going to start mowing before it rains this afternoon since I will be gone all weekend.
Pat, still couldn't see the little YouTube movie. I can see them on the YouTube website just fine. When I click on 'play' it is still my cursor not the little hand.
Can you tell I am hurrying?:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Did anyone except Etta Sue try to see the video?
Jane, glad to hear the problem is now sorted out and you will soon be able to communicate with Joy much easier.
Etta Sue, I hope this problem is just the after effects of your surgery and nothing to worry about.
It is misty-moisty here today, and cool. We will go see Dr. Neal, the ortho doctor in a little while; probably get Darrel's shoulder surgery on the schedule.
Karma, it WAS good! ^-^ How is our Nards doing? Give him a gentle hug for me, please.
Hi Marilyn.
Busy day today, Doctor, framing, painting class.......see y'all later!
Pat, the video worked fine for me. Cute! Thanks. Sorry I didn't mention it sooner, my bad.
Pat the video worked just fine for me too.
Good Morning!
Happy Birthday Mom! (er Ruth to the rest of you hehe)
Pat, I finally got the YouTube video from you to work after I held down my "ctrl" button. It was cute!
Now must get busy and get back to work.
Have a great day everyone!

Pat, I am still on dial-up and it always takes so long to download things from YouTube (or elsewhere) that I usually give up before its fully loaded. Yes, I did see a few seconds of the fishy film. ;)
Marilyn aren't these "Spring Showers" something? Sunny and bright one minute and then a downpour with small hail the next! :-\ At least that's the way it is here. At the moment it is beautiful outside: sunny blue sky and the birds are singing just outside my window. Between "showers" yesterday evening and night I could hear all the little frogges in chorus outside in the pond. Yup, it's Springtime on the Coast of Oregon. S'posed to be all cleared up by the weekend.
Thanks, Janet :) ... It isn't easy to keep in touch with my family. Never has been, really, and I know they have their own lives to tend to so don't like to bother them. I was thinking about taking a drive down to California in a couple weeks. I have some books I think John (Joy's hubby) would like and I might even get to stay in their spare bedroom now that they are back in their home. We'll see..... :-\ (My mom used to say that all the time .... meant "probably not.")
Pat I did see the video after going back to the start dozen times, Like others with dial-up it takes forever to see something as cute as that.
Happy Birthday Ruth :hbirthday:
We are having a lovely day up here, sun shining and quite warm.
Praying for all the needs here
JudyB
Oh I found out something last night. A dear friend has resident bluebirds in his yard all summer! Guess where I am going to be when they come back? With my camera no less!
Judy I sent you an email. Did you get it?
Pat - I can't seem to get YouTube to run on here. It'll go for about half a second, then it quits. It's probably something to do with my Safari browser or something. I've never been able to get YouTube to run when Chris & Margit send them to me either. Sorry.
Pat: The U Tube worked just fine for me.
Janet: It is good that Darrel is almost back to normal again.
Etta Sue: Do take care and allow yourself to get well.
I do pray that all are well very very soon.
A distant cousin (3rd I think) was in a very serious house fire where all of the folk got out of the home except him. He was a renter in the basement and had to be carried out by the firemen then taken to the hospital that specializes in serious burns. Sunny Brook Hosp. He has diabetes (not a result of the fire)but he is now home from the hospital and as his mother said it is thanks to God and the many prayers of people that cared.
Thanks for the Birthday wishes. I did receive a Birthday greeting from my one and only very special granddaughter.(Sue's daughter)
Ruth
Al I had that problem as well. I kept going back to the start and it would go a bit farther than the previous time..... The girls were watching and as a result they were not content till they saw the whole thing.. Patience is required, and time.
We have a health issue going on here, I am asking for prayer for it, God knows the need.
It seems that we are all a little lethargic these days. It is so nice to sit outside in the warmth of the day.
Night all
JudyB
:) Good evening. This has been a very busy day and the old back is sore tonight. I had to do my neighbours lawn as he is in Europe visiting family. Some of you may have heard of a radio mission work called Far East Broadcasting which has been around for a long time. So my wife and I went to ther banquet tonight and it was very informative. We have been involved with this for quite a few years. Also today I cut my own lawn so I think thats why my back is sore. Our weather has been beautiful and the sun has finaly come out. In the area that we live and surrounding us there are many fruit orchard's so the blossoms will be out soon and it is a beautiful sight to see them all.
JANET: I cannot think of being without my sweatheart life would be empty and very hard. I do know that my heavenly Father would look after me. I am so sorry that Darell has been so sick but thank the Lord you know what is wrong. We had a major problem with ecoli up in Canada a few times. God bless you both and look after yourself.
PAT: Hi so glad to here that Judy is a bit better and that she is able to move around. Please look after yourself and get some rest big sister. <3
LARRY: Hope you are well and it sonds like that you are busy.
Al: Hi how are you doing was an other concert for our chorus that I am in and as usual it was a lot of fun but a great witness for the Lord. Look after those legs and I am glad that you will be able to see the grandkids.
ATTE SUE: Thank you for the encourageingdevotional it was very stirring will be praying for you.
JUDY B.: Hi how are you all doing hope that all is well. It sounds like fun getting the chicks.
SUE: Hope that you are well.
RUTH ANN BICE: Thanks for the info about diabetes I do not have it as yet but it is in my family. I do hope that you are well and take care of yourself and do what the doctor tells you. God bless.
If I have missed some of you please forgive. May the Lord bless you all this weekend and that you have a wonderful time with the family of God. <3
Pat I did look at you tube and it worked fine.
Hi everyone.
I was so busy yesterday I didn't have time to come here and post so will do so this morning before I go to coffee. My wife has been sick and mostly in bed since Tuesday afternoon. She has been running a temperature and her back is hurting her so bad that when she struggles to get up she is in severe pain and is having to use a cane to walk. We had a doctor's appointment at 10:40 this morning so hopefully she will be on the mend.
Because of the appointment I have had to postpose the lesson I was suppose to give to my good friend on using WordPerfect. I spent several hours yesterday getting it ready, then attended a meeting involving grant money our computer Learning Center has received, got supper, and then had a meeting that I was involved in. Hopefully today will be a little less pushed. Just coffee at the Senior Center and the appointment this morning.
Jane, is your daughter moving back to California or will they release their home?
Etta Sue, sorry that you weren't feeling as good yesterday amd but maybe that is just the healing going on.
Gord, it sounds like you overworked mowing two yards in one day.
Judyb, hope your health issues can be resolved soon.
Ruth, so sorry to hear of the burns for your cousin. Those are so painful. Happy Birthday.
Pat, I didn't take the time to look at the UTube movie but have played other so am sure it would work.
Karmat, putting together a cookbook is a big joy. Hope you have enjoyed it and sure you will be glad to see it go to the printers.
Janet, it sounds like you had a great time at the "high tea". Since the Queen is visiting American this week your groups timing was ideal. Glad that Darrell is doing much better.
It is cloudy and rather cool this morning. The housekeeper is here this morning and is going to clean the garage. She had planned to clean the porch as well but has decided to wait on it and schedule for another day when it is warmer since she will have to use the hose and you always get a little wet when you do.

Pat ~ I finally saw the little duck feeding the koi. I went to the post where the video was posted, clicked on Modify and copied the URL for the video. I then opened a new browzer window and pasted the URL in the address and clicked Go. There is where I saw it. I tried Ctrl on the original video post and nothing worked. And I do have the Adobe Video Viewer or whatever it said to use. Anyway, where there's a will, there's a way!
Seems that I am fine until I lie down. As soon as I went to bed last night, I started coughing and getting rattle-y! So I got up and greased my neck with Vick's Salve and went back to bed. This morning I woke up with a little sore throat but nothing like yesterday. But I now think it is the healing process. Swollen from surgery!
Overcast and cool today. Glad we all got our yards mowed yesterday. Tomorrow is the big wedding in southern Indiana and Sunday is a Bridal Shower (for a different g-niece) in the afternoon. So needless to say, I will be scarce this weekend! <: )) ))><<~~> <: )) ))><<~~< <: )) ))><<~~<

Jane, is your daughter moving back to California or will they release their home?
Larry, the last I heard was Joy and John planned to be in California until July or August to fix up their home to put it on the market.
John may go back to Mexico in June (to see about a project he is working on) and Joy will stay on to work at a friend's spa (as massage therapist) until August. Plans change almost momentarily with them and it is good they are so flexible.
When she is able to call me (as soon as their telephone is connected) I'm sure she will be able to update the above information... you can be sure it will need updating. ;)
I know that, when they return to Mexico, they will be looking for another place to live. There is much construction/development going on in front of their condo on the beach and they will be losing their magnificant view. There will be giant high-rise (and high priced) condos right on the beach in front of their place! :-\
Thank you Etta Sue for sending me the read on Jay Leno. I have sent it on to a friend of mine who is always sending me anything and everything bashing the was etc. She is so much like Rosie O'Donnell that most time I delete the email without reading it. She even writes to that little newspaper there in Lucerne valley with her ridiculous ideas and long tirades bashing everything remotely Republican whether it is or not. She sends me the same tirades on innocent stuff that I have sent her showing both sides of a subject.
Every thing is fine here, I am taking Ruth to the hairdresser this morning. Then grocery shopping after lunch at the Senior Center. This afternoon I will clean my living and bedroom. Also i will be walking the dogs as I do every day that it is not raining or in between the showers,.
Tomorrow morning at 8 several women who are in business for themselves will be meeting at Starbucks for coffee, prayer and goal setting we will be accountable to another women and pray for that person throughout the week. We all know each other and are from different Churches, some are with Univera, some with Mary Kay and some who are just starting their own business whatever that business might be.
Got to go now.
Howdy! Darrel went back to the gym with me today, a sign that he is feeling MUCH better! Praise the Lord! Of course, he did not do any lifting, as Dr. Neel said yesterday that he needs to go ahead and have the surgery on his shoulder. We are to call on Monday to schedule it.
Gord, thanks for your encouraging words. I appreciate them.
It sounds as if everyone is having a busy week, nothing new for us, huh? I have asked a special young friend to eat lunch with me today, to celebrate her graduation from nursing school. I have been praying for her, all the way through, and she really appreciates that. She told me on Wednesday night that she will be going to work at the Care Home where Beth and Mom live, on May 14. That's where her heart is, she wants the relationships of caring for people over time, rather than just the short times people are hospitalized (normally.) She feels that for her, nursing is a ministry, a calling. Praise God, that's the kind of people we need in those jobs. I have known Beth Ann since she was born, she has the same name as my daughter Beth Anne, and has three girls, the middle one born the same day as our Abby. TMI? Sorry. :-X
I need to go shower off the sweat and get started on some stuff. I have deliveries to make before meeting Beth Ann for lunch at the Pizza Hut. (Her choice. :))
So Jane - John & Joy are going back to Mexico, but do they still have the resort grounds there?
I'm all fired up right now - gas prices here locally are $3.63 ("discount" stations) per gallon. Yet oil companies are once again reporting record profits (translated, that means their profits are once again the highest they've ever been). Grrrrrr.

So Jane - John & Joy are going back to Mexico, but do they still have the resort grounds there?
No, Al, that deal fell through when the muli-millionaire backer reniged on his commitment. :-\ No, problem ... just a little glitch, they say. There's another "plan" on the table. :) That's why John is keeping his cell phone with him and anticipating the need to return to Mexico to handle business ... Me? I just listen and smile .... all this big planning and pie in the sky dreaming is not for me.
Oh, don't get me wrong ... John's heart is for the betterment of the people of the country and to help improve their environment and economy. I think they both feel that whatever God has for them to do they are available but no big deal if it all falls through. He's in control, even in Mexico. :D
Their main concern, right now, is their home in California. They've had renters in there for most of the past 4 years and, often the rent is not paid or it's late or they have had to evict the people who then trash the place before leaving ....... And John still has to keep up the mortgage payments. :-\
There is much work to be done to get it back into shape and then they will just sell it. They'll be living in the house as they work on it.
Pat: Am on wireless with the laptop and the video came through fine. Colorful.
Larry: sorry to read that Pat is going through back pain. Prayers for her comfort.
We are staying at son's place in western Montana. It hails a little, then sunshine, then rain, then snow then hail. We walked 30 minutes today. Don bought some specialty fishing rod and equipment to leave here for son & family. Mountains are absolutely majestic. Now, please don't tell me that all of this beauty has just happened - it is a perfect plan.
Carol
The day I viewed that link, I was mesmerized.
I'm literally too stressed to comment tonight. Marilyn, you follow another discussion in which I participate.
Should you wish to tell our friends here about the "training wheels" incident today, please feel free. I'm too tired.

I have found a few minutes to post before I get dressed and head south for a few hours to attend a wedding. It is suppose to be outside in a gazebo but I am afraid that it will be moved into the little chapel. It is cloudy and expected to rain any minute. But who knows. Two hours south could be bright and sunny!
Ivalou and I went to a Spring Musical at Lapel High School. This small school has a terrific Show Choir. Even boys and girls. Very good in their dancing and very little mistakes. But their sound system is terrible. Next year they will be moving into a new High School and it has an auditorium. Hopefully a great sound system as well.
Ivalou's daughter and grand-daughter, Teresa and Lauren, came in from Ohio minutes after I left Ivalou's house last evening. Maybe just as well since I can't talk anyway!! Here is the post Ruth ann was referring to.
QuoteThe issue at hand was I had to await month end closing. The statistics could not be generated until May 1. Unfortunately May 3,4,5 were the ONLY times that the managers could all congregate here in Nashville for a twice-a-year meeting. I'm the statistician who is responsible directly to executive senior management at the client. Therefore, I did what I had to do to make it all work.
You would have loved being in the room this morning when I with my really short arms, impulsively leaned over - across the chair arm - to reach for something I needed from the 3 inch stack of reports placed on the floor near me.
The next instant, 3 strong men had lept to this maiden in distress, and gallantly helped me back into the chair after they righted the chair which had landed a little to my left. Fortunately, I'll only have "contusions" on the right upper leg and maybe some bruised dignity. And of course, the topic of discussion would be workers comp!!!
I quipped, "Darn! My chair's training wheels had been removed!"
We all laughed and proceeded with the meeting.
Once again, Ruth Ann's sense of humor saves the day! :) Bless you, sweet one, I am so glad you weren't hurt seriously. And get those training wheels fixed!
Big news in Kansas today. A huge, wedge tornado, one mile in width, hit the small town (1600 pop.) of Greensburg last night. The town is virtually destroyed, the entire business district, most of the homes, the hospital, both schools, churches. One of the members of my painting group lives there, and I know other people there as well. I am praying they are safe. So far, only three fatalities has been reported. The tornado went on and hit other towns, too, but not the devastation that Greensburg suffered. Some of you may know that Greensburg is the site of the world's largest hand-dug well. They are now saying 4 to 7 fatalities.......... :'(
The whole center area of Kansas, from South to North, is under tornado watch. Some are very close to Salina, where my youngest daughter and family live. Prayers appreciated!
I worked hard yesterday, am a little weary today. Lunch with my Nurse friend was so enjoyable. She brought me a white rose in a vase with filler flowers and ferns and a lovely card to say "Thank you for praying me through. You have made a difference in my life." She will be a wonderful nurse, she knows Who is in charge of the healing. :)
Still more storm reports coming in. If they come near here, we will have to go up to the big house and get in the basement! Greensburg had 20 minutes' warning, otherwise there would have been many more fatalities. It was a direct hit.
Thanks, Marilyn.
At 3:30 this morning, I finally took one of those pain pills prescribed for the hand surgery and got some sleep. Today is "skid to a halt and rest all day" at my house. ;)
I so admire all of you and your skills and talents and good conversational skills.
God is so good, isn't He.
Ruth Ann
Training wheels. Hhaheheheh. Good thinking!
Janet, sorry to hear about the tornado. I'll be praying for those you know and others in the area.
Jane, Yes, God is in control, even in Mexico. :)
Marilyn, I visit another site that has a lot of members that feel the way your friend does. If it is remotely "wrong" it must be Republican. Partisan politics annoy me, so I usually just ignore the posts and move on. It took me awhile, but I eventually figured out that I was not going to change their minds, and they couldn't change mine, so we were just wasting bandwidth "talking" about it. :)
Etta Sue: < > I was saying something, you just couldn't hear it. Hahhahahaha. I crack myself up. I hope the soreness goes away, and you get to feeling better. How much longer until you can talk? 3 days?
Take care, all, don't work too hard and enjoy your weekend!
Later,
Karma
Good Morning even if it is rather late in the morning here and there too. I have been busy. I washed the sofa cover that I keep on there to keep out the dog hair and Happy's bedding off his bed. I have trimmed a bush in the yard cleaned up dog poo, vacuumed my living and bedroom. I have also done just a little ironing and need to iron two more blouses.
My client has called me 5 times already this morning, the first at 6 :30am. This last two times I saw her name on the caller ID and didn't answer the phone. Most of the time she doesn't leave a message anyway.
I went to that meeting this morning at Starbucks and later found out it was cancelled and no one told me. GRRRRRRRR.
Hey this is my day off what am I doing all this work for, I quit, well after the 2 blouses I quit.
TTYL
Hello all:
Such a lovely day. Well yesterday Mel & myself spent the day perch fishing and today Mel our son and another friend have gone back for more perch. It is good that the one doing the fishing does the cleaning while I do only the cooking.
Marilyn: I would like to do some laundry but that will have to wait until Mel can clean the lint etc. from a pump that moves the water to the septic tank, this is all my fault as I had laundered a couple of old braided mats that my grandmother had made (perhaps 50yrs ago) and yes they did stay together but some of the fluffy stuff came away. Yes the rugs are very much cleaner just the same.
Ruth Ann: Thanks for sharing the diabetes info we too have the threat of it in our family, you can do all the book reading but hearing it again and worded a little different it seems to come alive.
Etta Sue: Are you still silent?
Nards: How is the healing doing and are you doing what the Doc. says?
Tele Marketers are a real pain I think that they are calling at least 3 - 5 times in the day . it was today that I put the call on hold and let their computer do the waiting.
The Kentucky Derby is this afternoon so will be watching with the hopes that I will be able to see our Queen Elizabeth - she is such a lovely lady.
Good to "see" you, Ruth. Hope your guys bring back a nice mess of fish. (I like the fish, but not the mess.)
I got an email from one of my painting friends. She said our friend in Greensburg and her husband barely got into their basement in time; heard the sun porch being destroyed, then more loud noise. When it was over, there was so much debris in the stairwell they couldn't get out, and had to wait to be rescued. They could see the sky--their home was totally destroyed. Clorene had no shoes on, so they wrapped her feet with towels and duct tape, and took them to one of the shelters in another town, where their daughter came and picked them up. They have only the clothes on their backs---but thank God, they are alive! Latest report I heard, there were 9 fatalities, 8 in Greensburg, one in another county.
I have been doing a big "fling boogie" in the master bathroom. I threw away two large trash cans full of stuff, have more boxed up to take to the Loaves and Fishes food pantry. They had an ad in this week's paper that they are needing things like bar soaps, etc. Then I cleaned out the refrigerator. No end to it, huh, gals?
Janet: I have been doing a little of the fling boogie but perhaps you could come and help me do a much bigger job. A little here and there does not really show does it.
The fish but not the mess my in-laws did a good job at teaching their son and I love him dearly.
Ruth I was joking---why do they call it a "mess" of fish? After I typed it, I just had to be silly. Tell you what--I'll come help you, and then you can come help me! We will fling boogie our way to a clutter free house, won't we? Nope, not much of a dent at all, but Flylady promises that those 15 minutes and those 27 fling boogies will get us there, so I keep on trying. Of course, if I did them every day, I would get there much quicker!
Janet: Checking in on you. What a sad thing for the town to be destroyed - it was even on BBC television channel. I hope everyone gets heaps of help.
Carol
Hi folks...
Just a very quick post. Been absent but have been very tired and trying to rest. As well, this was supposed to be a weekend away for me but we're doing it in two days instead of staying away and today was a very full day indeed just having fun taking photos with friends. Left the house this morning at about 7:10 am and now I feel tired but a "nice tired".
Judy McKenna arrived in Guelph yesterday and is in the Guelph General Hospital. She'll be being transferred to St. Joseph's rehab when a bed is available so now the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter each day.
Sorry my post is so short but life for me has been hectic lately and hopefully things will settle down in the coming days.
Ruth Ann, thinking of you.
Janet, when I heard of the tornadoes, I immediately went and looked up the place on a map to see if it was near you.
Pat I am glad you have had a good day. Hope tomorrow is as good.
When you go to see Judy Give her my love, and let her know the next time I am in town I will be in to see her.
Dana broke her very heavy chain yesterday, so today John was working at fixing it. He is daring her to try and break it again. There is some swelling on her cheek, I suspect there is a quill that we missed. It is one of those time things, it will come out, just takes time.
This is one of those sleepless nights. I am listening to the Christian Radio, CJTK. It is so restful and relaxing.
Kassie started using grandma's glucometer to measure her blood sugar. The readings have all been over 7.0 and under 9.0 I took her reading in the middle of the night the other day and it was 5.4. I am wondering if there is something going on, or if this is a stress thing. We no longer have a family doctor to go to, and no doctor on the horizon. This is the health issue I was mentioning. On Monday I will call a doctor friend and see if he will order the necessary tests, and hopefully rule out diabetes.
Janet I have been out of touch with the news and CP for a couple of days. I am sorry about all the devestation of that tornado. I will continue to hold the victims up in prayer. I am sure you are thinking "It never rains, but it pours!"
With everyone here there is a need. Many unmentioned. Know that even when we don't know what the need is or even if there is a need, there are many here who are prayer warriors and are praying for you. God bless you and rest in His arms.
JudyB
Good Morning everyone. It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day today with temps up to 64°.
JudyB did you get my email? It has been awhile since I have heard from you.
Janet I am so glad the tornado missed you but so sad for the people who lost everything. I saw some being interviewed on TV last night. I pray for the families who have lost loved ones.
Pat do get some rest. You need your rest. I know it feels good to get out on photo excursions. I enjoy those myself.
Ruth did you have a nice birthday celebration?
Larry you are always so busy helping others and teaching other to use the computer, where do you find the time?
Jane So you will be in California again so soon. My goodness woman you sure do a lot of driving. I would like to get down to the valley this year to see my other children, however that is a long drive to do in just 2 days, 1 down 1 back and have time to visit.
Etta Sue how is your throat doing? Have you been able to keep quiet?
Hello to everyone I didn't name. Have a great Sunday.
Hi everyone.
I had anticipated a quiet day at home yesterday (not)!. We are fixing our screened in porch with new cushions and covers for the table and chairs. I also got a two-drawer plastic storage unit to leave on the porch so that we can put the covers in it when we are using the porch. We have not used the porch very much because the cat stayed out there and the furniture always had dust on them. I also got some bamboo type blinds to lower in the late afternoon when the sun hits that part of the house. I am looking forward to getting it together. The housekeeper is coming back tomorrow, as far as I know, to clean it thoroughly. Saturday she was here to clean the garage so we are getting things in order for my sister's visit at the end of next week.
Unfortunately, Pat is still very much down in her back and has a lot of pain. She is using a cane to get around but isn't comfortable sitting for very long. Fortunately her sinus infection does seem to be on the mend and she is not experiencing the fever that she had for several days.
Glad to read that Judy got back to Guelph. Sure she is glad to be where Norm is and it will certainly be a benefit to you Pat in not having to make the trip. Hope her recovery continues on its positive track.
Janet, I was shocked to hear about and then see the results of that tornado and wondered how close it was to you all. I can't even fathom what it would be like to experience suddenly having everything gone. Of course, our lives are the most important things. Our area has no warning system but I recently got a new weather radio and one day it did go off so know it is working.
JudyB, are you saying your daughter is checking the blood sugar?
Jane, thanks for the info on your daughter as it fills in a lot of gaps. It sounds like she and her husband pretty much go with the flow.
Carol, hope you are getting a lot of rest in Montana and getting a lot of reading done.
Ruth Ann, you sure didn't need another fall and sure hope you are not hurt too severely.
Ruth, enjoy the Perch.
Karmat, I think I take the same approach to closed minded people on any subject and just say to myself they are entitled to their opinions just as I am to mine. I just hope I never become so fixed in my thinking that I cannot analyze new facts and adjust as appropriate.
Etta Sue, glad you were able to go to the play. We attended one at our new highschool a few years ago and the sound system, or lack thereof, was terrible. The kids did a good job but you couldn't always hear them. Glad you are feeling better. You will probably experience improvement each day.
Al, they have been conditioning us that the price of gasoline is going to $4. I am very suspicious this is a conscious and long term plan to accomplish this. Hope I am wrong and it is just market forces.
Well it is time to head for church and Sunday School. Pat isn't able to go but decided to go ahead and go to Sunday School.

I found a name tag...the kind that is clear with a pin on the back and you insert heavy paper with your name. I printed 'I can't talk! Throat surgery. Thanks, Etta Sue' on card stock and cut it to fit. That was a life saver at the wedding. I took my Magic Writer to the reception. About a half a dozen people, when I wrote something for them to read, they took the writer and wrote back to me. I wrote 'I can hear but I can't talk!' We got some good laughs.
Lexy, my g-g-niece really liked my Magic Writer. She is in the first grade and what a terrific speller and reader! I sure couldn't do all that she does in the first grade. She looked so cute in her white and mauve dress. She was the flower girl for her Mommie's wedding. She said now she has a Daddy and a brother. Eli is Steven's son by a previous marriage. She said Steven was going to adopt her and her last name would be the same as her Mommies. We asked Steven and he said 'Yes. He wants to adopt Lexy but it all depends on her real father.' He hasn't been in the picture for a couple of years so he would probably be glad to sign his rights over. Lexy is my bi-racial g-g- niece but no child is loved more than Lexy. And she loves everyone back.
And sometimes when I go to church, even as large as my church, I may only talk to a couple of people. Today nearly everyone I came into eye contact with, said 'Hi Etta Sue' and I couldn't say Hi back. I think I will be glad when Tuesday gets here. I really don't think I will have a Big Girl voice yet. I have this cold and it has caused congestion and deep coughing. But while at church this morning, my back didn't hurt at all!! Perhaps the antibiotics that I am taking is helping my back! Whatever it is, Halleluia!!
This afternoon is a Bridal Shower for another g-niece and my niece's home. That should be fun. So off I go again with my Information Tag and Magic Writer!
I haven't had the news on since Thursday so I hadn't heard about the tornado in Kansas. So sad when people lose everything they have worked for in their lives. But praise God, their lives were spared! o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0

I think we had Spring a couple of weeks ago....was ill and missed it!
Cold, damp/wet and few Spring clothes in sight.
It is sad to think of all the people who are suffering as a result of the tornado in Kansas. We are so lucky here on the island, with only rain to complain about. I saw a doc. of a tornado up close and it was terrifying.
Finally made it out of the house yest. and went with the kids to see the Titanic display and Imax movie at the museum. Not feeling great as the virus won't depart, but they had tickets. It was amazing. The movie was about the sub that went right into the wreck, showing the destruction, etc. Altogether amazing! It was like being there on the bottom of the ocean. The museum displays were fantastic and they recreated much of the way the Titanic looked, even gave boarding passes with the names of each passenger who sailed. I was Lady Astor, 18 yrs. old and survived. First class, of course!! It was quite haunting and sad. I can't believe that they could build such a huge vessel with the technology available at that time. What amazing advances we have made in less than 100 yrs.
Took the kids to The Spagetti Factory for dinner and it was good. Had chicken as not into spiced food at the moment. All in all, it was a nice day, despite the weather.
Watched Robert Schuller this morning and they had Evil Knievel giving his testimony. He has become a born again Christian and his talk moved so many people to come forward to be Baptized. Read it was 500-800 people. Seems the program was a replay....but that's okay. Time the Holy Spirit got air time!! We Baptists get dunked, they sprinkled....that's okay too...
Interesting comments about politics in some of the posts. Same problems in this country, simply different names for the parties. Will Rogers made a nice comment about such things:
I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts. --Will Rogers
That about sums up the subject. ;)
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Hi, friends,
Yes, I've found muscles I forgot were there after the fall - every one of them is stiff! ;)
It will be good when the left hand surgery is over on Thursday - then I can take my anti inflammatories again and the muscles oughta feel much better.
It's been so good to hear from all of you today.
Judy, please have your daughter not check her blood sugars until 2 hours pass after a meal. Anything before that won't give a true reading, since the blood sugars are higher for 2 hours afterward. You'll get readings that frighten you sometimes during that 2 hour period.
Of course, if she were to check just before a meal, then she can see how the food has affected her reading in the test taken 2 hours later. I learned very quickly that fatty foods will really kick up my blood sugar level.
Hope all continue to improve - y'all have a good day.
Ruth Ann
Hello all!!!!
Etta, I have a student who has had a tracheotomy (sp?) and uses one of those little electronic gadgets to "talk." She gets aggravated though, and usually just writes what she wants to say. I'm bad to write back to her, and then read it to her. Fortunately, she has a really good sense of humor and we get a good laugh at it.
Hope everyone has had a good day.
laters!
Please pray for my patient Ruth, I found out today that her son is going to talk to Social Security and then possibly put her in a home. I don't know what he thinks he is going to find out from social security. he is also planning to talk toher Doctor. My only concer in the situation is for her happiness and independence. I can get another job. I just want her to be happy.
QuoteAl, they have been conditioning us that the price of gasoline is going to $4. I am very suspicious this is a conscious and long term plan to accomplish this. Hope I am wrong and it is just market forces.
Larry - I agree that they are probably doing that. My concern is that there ought to be some sort of law that they are breaking in gouging us like that when we have no means to defend ourselves. What they're doing, with or without the law, is criminal. You know what it's like to be on a fixed income while the prices are upwardly variable. I've written to our congressman, our two state senators, and our state assembly person. Oh for a car that runs on hydrogen!
Overcast this morning in western Montana. We are going for a drive to Kalispell and around Flathead Lake to check out fishing spots. The lake is down and it won't rise until snow on the peaks melts - that is happening now. We have our fishing licenses.
Larry: Reading again here but I just finished two heavy flannel quilts and had to take Aleve for shoulder problem. I used my old Singer here but wish that I had brought the Bernina as it could have gone faster. Hugs to Pat - that is, gentle hugs.
JudyB: Understand your health concern. That is a big concern.
Marilyn: Ruth's son could be worried about her safety when she is alone. Sometimes, a home is the kindest thing a child can do for their parent. Not to say this is the case for Ruth. prayers for what is best. I know you are such a wonderful caregiver from your posts...am going to ask for you when I need care
Liz: Would have liked to have seen that show but I did watch most of Schuller's son speak later. A wonderful speaker.
JudyB: We once took in a Huskie mix dog who was a runaway tramp. I watched him break a cow chain I had just bought - he just leaned into the chain & pulled until it broke. Unreal strength. He was one of our favorite dogs and just had to run about every few months for a couple of days & we couldn't stop him. Yes, he was neutered. Just the call of the wild.

A new week starts here (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=6089.msg108730#msg108730).
