Morning Devotional...
Jesus and the Kingdom of God
Luke 17:20-37 NLT
One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, "When will the Kingdom of God come?"
Jesus replied, "The Kingdom of God can't be detected by visible signs. You won't be able to say, 'Here it is!' or 'It's over there!' For the Kingdom of God is already among you."
Then he said to his disciples, "The time is coming when you will long to see the day when the Son of Man returns, but you won't see it. People will tell you, 'Look, there is the Son of Man,' or 'Here he is,' but don't go out and follow them. For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so it will be on the day when the Son of Man comes. But first the Son of Man must suffer terribly and be rejected by this generation.
"When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah's day. In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all.
"And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building—until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. Yes, it will be 'business as usual' right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed. On that day a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home. Remember what happened to Lot's wife! If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it. That night two people will be asleep in one bed; one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour together at the mill; one will be taken, the other left."
"Where will this happen, Lord?" the disciples asked.
Jesus replied, "Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near."
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.earthlink.net%2F%7Eettasue9842%2Fsitebuildercontent%2Fsitebuilderpictures%2Fstarblinking.gif&hash=d53900a37baea9ad7e55de7768716cba8c77fe07)What difference would it make in your life if Jesus returned today?
Life will be going on as usual on the day Christ returns. There will be no warning.
Most people will be going about their everyday tasks, indifferent to the things of God. They will be as surprised by Christ's return as the people in Noah's day were by the Flood. (Gen. 6-8) or the people of Lot's day by the destruction of Sodom (Gen. 19). We don't know the time of Christ's return, but we do know that he is coming. He may come today, tomorrow, or centuries in the future.
Whenever he comes, we must be morally and spiritually ready. Live as if Jesus were returning today.

Whew! What an exciting evening! I know we shouldn't be asking God to help us win a football game but I'll bet there were lots of prayers being asked. But the COLTS WON!! And yes, Janet, wasn't it refreshing to hear God being praised by the coaches and the players?
The teen minister said this morning that the Colts would win because the Colts are in the Bible. It was a colt that Jesus rode into town. The bears that are mentioned in the Bible didn't do anything for Jesus. So Jesus owed the Colts! It was funny then.... :-\
The 11 o'clock news showed people celebrating in downtown Indy on the circle. Even the media was talking about how 'good' the people were! Just gathering...no violence, no trespassing, no vandalism! Now in another hour...who knows?
And sometime tomorrow there will be a parade in Indy...probably when the team comes back home. And most of the school will be on a two-hour delay!!
Kitty came to my house this evening to help watch the game with me. Her husband got home at half-time so she went home to finish watching the game.
Now to get the SuperBowl to come to Indy in 2011!!
Yep, it was fun to watch the game. I went over to the house of one of the families of the church that was having a get-together with finger food and Super Bowl! There were about 10 adults and many kids. Enjoyed it. Thought it was over before it hardly started, though, when the kickoff was returned for a touchdown right away. But it didn't go that way.
What football game?
:) Yep it was a good game and what a testimony from the coach when he was interviewed. Praise the Lord.
Good night.
Hi Gord!
Hey Pat ... sorry you're not "in the know" ... but this is always a traditional BIG GAME in the US.... the Super Bowl. I'm happy to announce that I did indeed watch the game this time. Simply because I knew the coaches from both teams are christians and good friends ... and the first African Americans to make it to the Super Bowl.
Very refreshing to hear them praising the Lord and acknowledging Hiim in all this.
Great game .... Go COLTS!!
Good Morning All,
I know everyone is still asleep and pray it is a blessed and restful one for one and all.
Awww :( sounds like I missed a great game, but I finally got a restful sleep last evening, I just let go and let God. Phew! :)
It has been stressful and i know it will get more so as the date approaches for his surgery. I thank you all for all your prayers they help more than you know. I love coming to this place to just read, pray and relax in the Christian fellowship. Thank You all! <3
Hello to all who post, I pray you all have a God filled and blessed day/evening/night where ever you are!
Still Trusting,
<><Jeannine
Morning y'all!
I said the same thing yesterday, about Jesus being for the Colts, cause he rode into town on one!
Now what will we do until August? No football :ticked:
Terry is in a terrible valley and really needs lots of prayers. Thanks ahead for knowing that you will remember him.

Pat ~ Hey, I understand you. I told myself that when my husband passed away and I had control of the remote that I wasn't going to watch any sports on TV except Ice Skating, Gymnastics and the Olympics. Last night was the first, from beginning to ending, football game I have watched since 1991!!! But, Pat, you missed a really good game. It made my heart smile to realize both teams were coached by Christian men. Coach Dungy (Colts) tells his team at the beginning of the season..."Do you hear me? This is the loudest I will talk this whole season so listen good." Can you imagine any coach not yelling from time to time? Even Little League coaches yell at those little kids. (And that just 'ain't' right!) But you could tell by the Colts players that they respected Coach Dungy and many of the players are Christians also. Every time I heard anyone say 'God' or 'Jesus', I thought....wonder how many more people are accepting Christ because of these sports-people? Makes me wonder if anyone last evening was thinking.....maybe there is something to this Jesus fellow! Refreshing to watch a football game and no fighting also!
Praise God. What a testimony!
Etta, I pulled for the Colts last night just for you. :) We didn't watch any of the game , but Bernard got a halftime report and a end game report on his cell phone. Go Colts!
We're going shopping today for kristi's 2nd birthday -- it's on Thursday. Should be fun. The mall with a 5 yo and 2 yo is always interesting . . ..
Hopefully, I'll be back later.
karmat
Hi everyone.
It was 28 degrees when I went to coffee this morning and it really wasn't that warm in the cafe but the conversation was warm and friendly, as always. I just saw that where my sister lives in Northern Iowa it was minus 17 degrees. Makes me cold just to think of it.
I did watch the Super Bowl last evening but during halftime switched over to the Food Network and watched Paula Dean do some cooking rather than suffer through the halftime show. I thought most of the commercials that I saw were bad and there seemed to be a violent streak in many of them. However, I did get a chuckle from the beard combover commercial. I enjoyed the game and I do admire both coaches. I feel sorry for the Chicago quarterback as the media has been very cruel to him throughout the season and know that now that will escalate even though his team made it to the final game.
The housekeeper is here this morning and the yard people are also here, although there is not much for them to do outside. Basically they use a blower to get any leaves picked up. They only come once a month this time of the year.
Samantha, thanks for your action this morning in alerting us to the problem poster. I see it is pretty chilly over your way. I will be praying for Terry.
Jeannine, glad you were able to get some restful sleep last night during the game. It is only a game and there will be many more to watch.
Our church took up a Souper Bowl collectiion after church with the proceeds going to the Atlanta Food Bank to help feed the needy. Our young people have done this for several years and they also go once a month to the food bank to help out.
Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional. There is a lot of things to think about in that scripture you used.
Ruth Ann, that makes sense on your surgery. We will be praying for 100% success.
Janet, Darrell will improve with practice.
Marilyn, I hope that your blood pressure rise was due to the excitement of the event and not a permanent condition. It sounds like your dogs don't enjoy someone else using their space or that they are anxious for your grandkids to get up so they can play with them.
Our son and his wife are planning on being in town for a doctors visit today so hope we will be seeing them this afternoon before they head back home.
Guess I had better move on to some other projects. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Hi Everyone...
What a job you all are doing clicking on that "Report to Moderator" button when you see distasteful porn posts!
What an onslaught it's been for a few months now and yet they still keep coming. Thanks so much! It sure helps us get to them much faster when you click on the button.
Re the football game, I am pulling all your legs as you probably know. It's just that I don't understand American football so have never watched it. Give me soccer any day! HAHAHA!
Guess I better get out of here and go and keep on banning.
TTYL
(Can't believe it's two years, Karma!)
Hello everyone, long time "no see". I've been busy but thought of everyone often.
Pat your new wheels sure look spiffy!
Marilyn, not that I am a good example of it, but I have found that drinking water and journalling everything that I eat is important to weight loss. It makes me accountable to myself for everything that goes into my body. If I have to write it down, I quite often don't eat it!
I didn't watch much of the football game, but my Mom did turn it on for a little bit. It has been a while since the Colts won and I know many here were "rooting" for them.
Pat, go ahead and plan a road trip. I don't think that passports are required for entry into the U.S. until sometime in the year 2008.
There will be a "new" vehicle in my driveway tonight too. The 1988 Lincoln TownCar is being replaced with a 1994 Silverado pick-up truck. There is also a new addition to my family, a 3yr old black lab/husky named Noelle. A very well-mannered and smart and loving animal. Hopefully will be able to post some photos soon. Now must get back to work.
;D Good afternoon to you all it is nice to be able to read all the postings and to catch up .
Well today started with a visit to the Physio Therapy office. As I told you that I have found out that I have a bulging disc but the physio therapist says that she hope that they will be able to get the disc to go back in and they should get rid of the pain which I have all the time. If anyone has hed this it is so hard to get a comfartable position
The Lord is the best physician and he can fix it in his time and I have to trust him.
Hi Al. It was quite a game EH. This is the first one that I have watched and only because my son-in-law lives around the corner and he wanted to watch it on the big t.v. so thats what we did.
Pat. You only need two photo I.D.'S at the border. Thanks for saying high. HA HA.
Well must go for now. Gord.
Good on you Pat...now you are talking girl...soccer..proper football! Who are these Colts anyway. Have you not heard of Manchester United the greatest football team on this earth. And boy...the excitement of FA Cup Final day in May! Then there was George Best..the greatest player who ever kicked a ball and who came from my own beautiful country..N.Ireland. They still talk of how he played Scotland of the pitch single handedly one day in Belfast...that right Gordon Brown!! Yes soccer...now that is a game of skill!
Hi all...see you all later!
I am finally back on line It seems the cable company didn't bill me last month so my bill didn't get paid. I did get to read this morning but as soon as I started to post off went the Internet and I didn't know what it was until this afternoon.
had a great time with the grand yesterday I took them home just before the game started. Hey Etta Sue I did find the Ice skating nationals on ABC so I was back and forth for the first hour of the game trying to watch both. Then I had to go back to church at halftime and didn't get back home until the last few minutes of the game.
The kids enjoyed church and it was fun for them. Savannah took her Girl Scout cookie sign up sheet with us and after church several people signed up for cookies. When we got home the dogs took the kids for a walk and we stopped as some of the neighbors homes and they ordered some too. We got orders for about 35 boxes.
Be back later.
After my devotions this morning I read this poem and have had it on my mind ever since.
I thought I'd share it with you all.
The Lord called me to follow
By Corrie Bramsen
The Lord called me to follow,
I answered, "I'll obey!
Send me where You want me, Lord,
In my life have Your way.
I'll gladly take my cross, Lord,
And go where You may lead;
I'm here, I'm Your disciple, Lord,
Now You can count on me!
God granted my desire—
Gave me a heavy cross;
Not just a beam to carry,
This one involved some loss.
And I cried out in anguish,
"Dear God, it isn't right!
It shouldn't have to hurt so
For me to fight Your fight!"
He sent another trial
That conflicted with my will;
I whined, "I'm carrying this for You;
Why make me climb this hill?!"
A third time God sent something;
Again I cried, "No fair!
I'll bear my cross with joy, Lord,
But dear God, not the nails!"
Then in a gentle whisper,
A Fatherly rebuke,
God said, "My precious child,
I did all this for you.
I suffered all the anguish
That separation brings.
I climbed the hill of Calvary.
They pierced My hands and feet.
And if you want to know Me,
There's more to it than power;
There's fellowship of suffering;
There is Golgotha's hour.
To know My resurrection,
You must know Me first in death.
There is so much more to living
Than just drawing your next breath.
So take your cross, Disciple,
And all that it includes;
But know through each dark hour,
I bore it first for you!"
What a thought provoking poem, Pat.
I think I'm growing to like ice hockey much better than football. And, even though I didn't care for the halftime show, at least everyone stayed clothed. I felt sorry for them, but they really worked at it, even in the pouring down rain.
And, yes, since I have 2 friends (Etta Sue and also my best friend and her family) living in Indiana, I hoped Manning and his team would win. The hug between the coaches after the game really warmed my heart. People who compete in sports CAN do it with sportsmanship and honor. Last night proved it.
I let the people at my work know about my carpal tunnel syndrome, and when my neurologist (and the surgeon he recommended) were checked out on the list of approved work comp providers, they are part of the group. So, it's likely I won't have to endure another of those painful shock tests. How thankful I am for that.
I must leave for a bit, but hope to come back tonight and go to the photo gallery for a while. Have wanted to do so for quite a while.
Y'all have a good evening.
Ruth Ann
Nice devotional, Etta Sue. Also, nice poem Pat.
I was cheering for your Colts, Etta Sue. Watched most of the game, all of the last quarter. Mostly into Cdn. football, tho' was a big Dallas fan when Troy A. was playing. Loved going to football games when young in Calgary. They were outdoors then and we brought blankets and thermos of coffee, etc. Times have surely changed.....of course that was when dinosaures roamed the earth! ;)
Same old same old around here, except Amanda phoned and had to go to Emer. at the hospital, hurt her foot and it may be bad....fortunately her girlfriend shares the driving and can take over the car. They go to school together in Victoria. No telling how long they are going to be at the hospital....so we wait....all stressed :-\
Here is a little poem from one of our local papers...think it is safe to post without getting sued...
A VALENTINE'S FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Cabbage always has a heart; green beans string along.
You're such a cute tomato, will you peas to me belong?
You've been the apple of my eye, you know how much I care;
So lettuce get together, we'd make a perfect pear.
Now, something's sure to turnip to prove you can't be beet;
So, if you carrot all for me, let's let our tulips meet.
Don't squash my hopes and dreams now, bee my honey, dear;
Or tears will fill potato's eyes, while sweet corn lends an ear.
I'll cauliflower shop and say, your dreams are parsley mine,
I'll work and share my celery, so be my valentine.
::)
Well....remember, I'm not the author.
Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.
Liz
Hi Liz, sorry to hear about Amanda, praying for her here.
Hi Ruth Ann hope you get your surgery soon.
Hello Pat.
Good morning Colin. you will see this when you wake up.
You too Jeannine Good Morning.
Hi to all else who look in.
The Mall was quite successful on Saturday. We talked to a lot of people and I have 10 that I need to make appointments with for follow up.
Ruth is still having some low blood sugars. But I am working with a Diabetic nurse to get it straightened out. Tomorrow I am calling her doctor to make an appointment and making an appointment with my foot doctor for her too.
Hi All, superbowl was fantastic, we shared it with some fellow christians from church and had just a great time. I'm terribly sorry for everybodys weather perdicament. It was a strong 74 degrees and sunny all day here. I wish I could pack it up and send you some sunshine. So how is everybody?. My wife says to say hi to everybody for her. She is a wellnes coordinator. She basically shows people how to live longer and better through nutrition . If you're interested shoot me an e-mail. I wont discuss it in open formus so you won't think that is why we are here. Well the bears lost and I'm not as sad as I thought I would be. I'm very happy for Peyton Manning. Besides I have some memorabilia that just doubled in price that I will sell now on e-bay or a sports club somewhere. Anybody like Peyton Manning??? Anyway Hope all is weel and I would like to know if there is somebody who could help me post some pictures at this site. I'll be around in the morning West Coast time but have a basketball game to shoot in Ramona. I should link you to some of my work.

:hbirthday: Marilyn! I hope you have a wonderful day! <3 <3 <3
Morning All,
Well Nick I'll take you up on the offer of the warmth and sun, it's 11°F here with windchills in the negative teens, schools here have been closed for a second day in a row due to the bitterly cold windchills.
Pat ~ that is an awesome poem, and so true.
Colin ~ I've heard of Manchester United...what do they do again? Gipe!
Marilyn ~ :hbirthday: God Bless! and many more to come
Hi Al, Gord, Pat, Larry, RuthAnn, Samantha, Janet, Etta Sue, and everyone. :-[ phew!, i'm never gonna remember all these names. But, I hope and pray everyone has a God filled and Blessed day!!!
<><Jeannine
Thank you Jeannine and Samantha for the birthday wishes. Yes it is today and I am 67 years old and healthy Praise God.
Nick where in California are you located. I am in McKinleyville 18 miles north of Eureka. I am assuming that you are in California.
I missed going to Curves yesterday, I went at my usual time and it wasn't open, someone didn't show for work. I called later and stopped in for a few minutes but really didn't get my workout on.. So I am going today.
The family will be over this evening so I won't be going to the weekly Univera business meeting. Some of our people are in Phoenix at Pastor Tommy Barnett's church for Pastor's school. So it might be a much smaller group meeting.
I'd better get dressed and out the door to Curves.
C y-all later.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY

I will be honest with you. I have seen and heard more about the Colts in last week or two than I have all the 24 years they have been Indianapolis Colts!
Yesterday afternoon it was telecasted when the Colts got off the plane at the airport, then a sky cam followed them to the Colts Complex. The Colts changed clothes putting on heavy hooded sweatshirts/jacket with their jerseys over them. Then back on the buses. The sky cam followed them to the Convention Center where the Colts got on floats and Chevy vehicles and started a parade in downtown Indy. Now remember it was only 4°F above zero!! The sky cam showed very sparse people along the route but as soon as the parade started, the fans came out. Bet they didn't even feel the cold then. The parade ended at the RCA Dome where over 52,000 Colts fans had assembled. There were speeches from the owner, the President of the Colts, Coach Dungy and Peyton Manning. And some of the foot ball players as well. The most touching was the player that was in an auto wreck on his way to a game. Even he will get a Superbowl ring!
The last time the RCA Dome was that full was when Billy Graham was in Indy!!
Today......well, my day started late. Hey, I am retired. I can sleep in if I want, right? Well, it was almost 10am when I got up. I was reading my devotions when the phone rang. Ivalou. She was taking Aaron to get some groceries before the snow that is predicted this afternoon gets here and wanted to know if I needed anything. Within the next half hour, it was snowing. Then it was snowing sideways and big flakes. Next thing I knew the ground was white. But within an hour, the snowplow went passed my house twice. I called Ivalou's and left a message for her to call me when she gets back. She just called. Said that all Aaron and she did was eat out. They decided to come on back home while they thought they could. So it looks like we are home for the duration!
Everyone have a God Blessed Day!!o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0^0o_o0

Hi Everyone!
I had the game on while I did some scrapbooking, so I mostly listened and then saw the plays when they played them back. I was rooting for the Colts, just because I'm not really into football that much (other than our undefeated Boise State Fiesta Bowl 2007winners) so I just pick a team to root for to make it exciting and I happen to love horses. We also changed the channel during half-time. Ick.
Everyone-I had something terrible happen this weekend that I wanted to tell you all about. I deleted some photos from my microdrive that I thought I had already downloaded. :idiot: They were of my daughter's filming on the 27th. The second shooting day of her Naria spoof movie she's doing, so they were quite important to me! I was sick to my stomach over it. So, I prayed and tried to calm down. I called our local camera store and they wanted a non-refundable $25 just to see if they could see the files and another $75 for any file or files they recovered. Well, I went online and found recovery software that I purchased ($30) and downloaded. It recovered all but 6 of my files! Praise the Lord for leading me to that software! It's already paid for itself.
My oldest daughter turned SWEET 16 Saturday and had a wonderful day of filming Narnia and eating pizza, cake and ice cream with her sis and about 15 of her friends! A great time was had by all. That evening, my husband dressed up-even wore a tie and took her out on a date. <3 He showed her how a young man should treat a lady!
Anything less, and he's gone! She will be courting rather than dating, but still...
Sarah, my youngest daughter, and I are having fun working on the ministry pages of the church directory. :)
Marilyn- :hbirthday: Sorry, these smiles here are about the only graphics I know how to post. (besides photos) I pray that God blesses your special day!
Everyone else-have a great day! I will sign off for now.
Blessings,
Kathleen
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARILYN!
Hi everyone else..have read all your posts. Could not get a row started about football and soccer...proper football that is! Come on the Rangers Gordon!
Jeannine...I have noted what you have said about Manchester United and boy..you are really for it now. :clobber: You are in HOT water now my girl! <3 ^-^
Take care everyone...I nearly forgot to say...my friend Marys daughter came to know the Lord before she so tragically died. I had this confirmed to me today by Mary. This is such a joy and relief to know and Mary thanks you all for all your support and prayers.
Good night everyone!
Thank you all for the wonderful Birthday wishes. I really appreciate them all.
Happy 36th Anniversary to JudyB and Bonesy.
I don't have to go back to Ruth's this evening she gave me the evening off since the kids are coming over. I have been out walking the dogs, made a phone call to the cable company, I need a new modem. I will take it next time I go to Eureka and exchange it for a new one. I hope the kids bring me something Chocolate to eat, like chocolate cheese cake, combining my two most favorite deserts.
C y-all later.
:hbirthday: :hbirthday: Happy Birthday, Marilyn!!
HAPPY Anniversary, Judy and Bonesey!
I am having a wonderful time in my painting class this week! Today I painted from 8:15 until 6:15, with about a 15 minute for lunch break. FUN, fun, fun!! And I'm really happy with how the first portrait is coming along, should have it finished by noon tomorrow.
Ruth Ann I am so glad your doctor is on the "approved" list for your insurance company. And I pray you get the very best results from your carpal tunnel surgery, and that it can be done soon. <3
I'm really tired, and haven't eaten yet, so I'd better go find something. My sweetheart is feeling really bad today. He can barely breathe or swallow. He went to the doctor, who thought he had strep throat, but the culture said no, also no urinary tract infection, so we don't know what bug is biting him. Sure hope he is better by morning.
See you another day.
<3 Good evening to all.
Shutterbug. It is fun to have a teenage daughter but the good thing is that she has a good relationship with her farther, but of course with her mum to. On the radio station that we get which is a Christian one on one of the programs which we here it is so hard to thimk how terrible thet some of the children are treated. Pray for your kids all the time.
Colin. I do agree that Manchester United is the greatest British team. And of course the GERS. are the best in Scotland.
Judy B, and Bonesy. Happy 36th. Anniversary Wher are you guys have not seen you posting latley.
Marilyn. Happy Birthday
Etta Sue. It was so fantastic to here the witness that the coach gave and how he gave all the Glory to the Lord.
Happy Birthday Marilyn!!! You are 7 yrs. younger than me....now doesn't that make things better? ;)
Amanda has a very severe sprained foot and must not walk on it for a week. They sent her home with crutches. Was due to visit an art gallery in Vancouver on Thursday for a course project...don't know what is going to happen now...
I had a very strange day. Went to Victoria on the bus to have my glasses adjusted at Iris and they broke the wing. No apology...had to force them to glue it together...not going to have a new wing at $75.00 plus tax. My eye dr. gave me a new presc. in July but said it probably wouldn't help....decided to get new lenses and frame...but not at Iris. I have dealt with them for yrs. and the past few times they have gotten worse and worse...not to mention more and more expensive...$500.00 plus for only the lenses two yrs. ago and had to have them redone twice because they measured wrong! What ever has happened to customer service and common courtesy. I don't get angry...but quietly blowing a gasket inside. Boy, are they lucky that I am a Christian and so on..... :ticked:
One nice thing did happen tho', I have had my eye on a nice classic navy parka and patiently hoping that the one (of two in store) my petite size 10, might go for something much less than the $429.00 they started with. Got it for $125.00 with tax....big clearout of winter things and I was there at the right time!
So that was how my day went. Seems like the Devil tries to annoy and God shuts him down....Even got to help the bus driver. Seems someone phoned for him to make a stop at the Mall, he slowed to a stop, no one waved or moved. So of course the Coach Line can't stay around and wait. They phoned and said he didn't do this...seems there is a scam and it is possible to get a free ticket if the driver does something wrong. I wrote a little note in his book and he called the office again....Hah! :clobber:
Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.
Liz
Good thing you knew what really happened with the bus driver Liz. a also got a good deal on the parka.
I am waiting on the kids to come, the should be here soon.
Last week I backed into a van at the senior center, yesterday I found out that the damage was $1600. to her van, not bad. My insurance will pay for it and it was my fault, I didn't see her when she pulled in behind me.
Hi, I've been at a meeting after work, so am worn out. Not much to say tonight, except Happy Birthday to Marilyn, and Happy Anniversary to Judy and Bonesy.
Y'all have a good evening.
Ruth Ann
Hello Everyone...
Happy Anniversary, Judy and John!
I'm so happy that you managed to get the photos back, Kathleen! What a horrible loss if you hadn't. I did that once when I first got my first digital cameral And lots of photos I took of Jack were lost before I knew I had lost them.
Marilyn, sorry about your accident. Tough to have to pay that.
Hi Larry, Etta Sue, Janet, and everyone.
It's late and I can't remember who all has posted since I was last here.
Oh, my Gordie, Gordie Brun!
And Colin, isn't Manchester United a transport company with big orange trucks?
I know that Larry goes out for morning coffee or breakfast on occasion with Pat and/or the rest of the seniors so I thought that this would be good for him:
The Senior's Breakfast Special
We went to breakfast at a restaurant where the "seniors' special" was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $1.99.
"Sounds good," my wife said. "But I don't want the eggs."
Then I'll have to charge you two dollars and forty-nine cents because you're ordering a la carte," the waitress warned her.
You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?" my wife asked incredulously.
YES!!" stated the waitress.
I'll take the special."
How do you want your eggs?"
Raw and in the shell," my wife replied.
She took the two eggs home.
DON'T MESS WITH SENIORS!!!
Hi everyone. I didn't have time yesterday to even visit CP much less post. Therefore. want to post early today as I have another busy day and may not have time later.
A belated Happy Birthday, Marilyn. Yesterday was also my sister's birthday and she was 63. She is still working full-time although her husband has been retired for several years. Sorry to read of your car accident but these things can happy. I am always very concerned about backing out of parking slots.
Happy Anniversary to JudyB and Bonsey. Hope you have a great day today.
LIz, sorry to hear of the sprained ankle. They often say that a bad sprain in worse than a break. Perhaps Amanda could use a wheelchair while at the museum and not miss the trip.
Ruth Ann, glad your medical situation is working out.
Gord, hope you will be able to avoid surgery and that your treatments are giving you some relief.
Janet, does your back bother you when you paint for such long periods? Sure sorry to hear that Darrel isn't feeling well.
Colin, I really have never understood your football. I did have the opportunity to attend the women's final game in the Atlanta Olympics and enjoyed the game.
Kathleen, glad you were able to recover the majority of your photos. You did the right thing to find the recovery software but just hope you have no need to use it again. Sure that wouldn't make you upset.
Etta Sue, glad you are able to stay in where it is warm. I think our little cold spell is over for a couple of days as we are to get into the high 50s today.
Jeannine, that is certainly too cold for me. Hope it warms up out your way soon. This has been some cold spell.
Nick, are you a collector of things like football cards?
Sue, hope you will enjoy your new vehicle. It should be a bit different than your Town Car.
This morning is Bible study at the church and later this afternoon I am going over to help the Treasurer of our computer learning center in using the QuickBooks software. Then this evening we have choir practice.
<3 Good morning to all.
I have just come back into the warm house as I have been out at the seminar that I go to every Wednesday it is called Quest For Authentic Manhood and it is very interesting but it so hard to get up so early.
The teachers name is Robert Lewis and the websitewww.mensfraternity.com orwww,lifeway.com/mensfraternity
So it is a very exciting journey each week and then you have a dicussion time with your group that you are sitting with. They are mostly men from your own church group and one of the pastors.
Pat Did not know that you new the old french for my name your not just a pretty face.
It is still very cold up in Canada and our power went of the other night so we were so thankful it was a short time. If anyone of you have a gas fireplace and the power goes off the firplace will still come on but the fan will not so make sure that if this happens that if your firplace is controlled by a thermostat make sure you turn it way down as it will get to hot and can cause a fire if yyour mantle is made of wood.
Hope that you all have a great day God Bless Gord.
Good Morning I have just had a nice hot :coffee: of Chai Tea, done my Bible reading and spend time with the Lord, now I must get ready to go to Curves for my workout.
My, my Larry and Gord you have been up early this morning, I don't usually see you here so early.
We have started a new thing at my church. Once a month we are going to add and extra 1½ hrs. to our prayer meeting to pray for the local business, We are going to invite them to come and join us, so that we can pray for them. Last Sunday night the pastor handed out little flyer's and divided us into groups of 5 or 6 with a list of things to pray about for the businesses.
A couple of months ago he asked those of us with a business to lay our cards on the altar and around the church; everyone went from card to card praying for that person's business. My income has doubled since then, but not because of my business but because I am working only for Ruth now and making more with one patient than I was with two. Although my business is doing more also.
Well, here we are on Wednesday morning. How did it get that far so fast? I have to go without breakfast until after I go to the lab for a blood draw this morning. Fasting is not my favorite thing. But they want to see what my cholesterol looks like, so there's no other way. Then, in a week or two, they want me to have a stress test. It's all a followup to my minor heart attack six years ago. They're just keeping tabs on things for me, so I guess it's a good thing. But I'm hungry!
Howdy ya'll!
Marilyn, sorry I didn't get in here to wish you a happy birthday, so here is a wish a day or two late!
Happy anniversary Judy!
We went shopping. My goal was to get Kristi a comforter set (bedspread, sheets, etc.) for her room. We looked and looked and couldn't find anything I liked (it all looked so grown up), BUT I did find me one. I got the "bed in a bag" set with two valences for around $90. Actual retail for just the valences would have been $80. I like shopping like that. Then, Sears was having a good sale as well. I was able to get Kristi a lot of new clothes (liek $300 worth) for just over $40. yea.
Bernard and I went back out and got Kristi's bed stuff. It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but it looks like a little girl, so it will work, I think. Friday, I'm having two of the little girls from church up to the house for lunch and a Princess dress up birthday party. :) I can't believe it has been two years since she was born. It seems like just yesterday. Wow. Where does the time go?????
I hope all of you have a wonderful day, and I may try to check in later. Take care.
Hi Everyone from very cold Guelph!
Out on my deck it is minus 15 but it's the windchill that is so very bad. I drove Kathleen to school this morning and my breath was almost freezing in the air as I walked to the car.
Talk atcha laters.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.earthlink.net%2F%7Eettasue9842%2Fsitebuildercontent%2Fsitebuilderpictures%2F%253Cbr%2520%2F%253Ecat__toiletpaper.gif&hash=b7da50aa6746786b53127e1767924802f88f0b37)
Whew! I am late getting here today. A lot has been going on here. I found out last night at 11 o'clock that my niece, Robin, Kaye Don's daughter, was taken to the hospital. She's only 50. She passed out in the kitchen and her BP was 80 over 60. Her son is an EMT and her husband is the Fire Chief of Lapel Fire Department. So they took her to the hospital. Last I heard it is NOT her heart but they don't know why she got weak, felt like an earthquake was happening inside of her, then everything went gray and passed out. She may come back home today after keeping her overnight at the hospital in ICU.
Now for good news. Tony, my son, didn't go to work today so he called and asked if I was going to be home. Duh! I didn't know if I could even get out! So he came. He gave me an air compressor a few years back but it isn't working in the garage. My garage isn't heated and he thinks it is froze up! After he cleared off my drive way, he came in the house. I was eating lunch and then I asked him if he would look at my fireplace. We took it apart...got all the dust out of the fan and all, oiled the fan and IT IS RUNNING QUIET NOW!!! Hurray!! I paid him with a hug and kiss on the cheek!!
Now I am a happy camper!
It is still cold...not as cold as Guelph but cold for central Indiana....only 9°F but some of the snow is melting because of the sun being so bright. I cleaned off my deck and it wasn't too bad until you came back in and your glasses were steamed up for another 5 minutes!
Got to run......~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@ (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.earthlink.net%2F%7Eettasue9842%2Fsitebuildercontent%2Fsitebuilderpictures%2Fmyhst.gif&hash=07abd5b2c7aad1ff803c4d97de10a2ba818e2e0e)
Gord Brown has his pin on the Member Map!
:) Pat Thanks to you again and I hope you put on the temprature thing at the bottom for me but then what do you do to put your temp onto it. Love ya. Gord.
I have posted a photo of me at the Health fair HERE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=5982.new#new)
I'm home again, and had another great day painting. Thanks for asking, Larry---my back doesn't bother me at all. I have been blessed all my life with a strong back, I guess, anyway I haven't had back problems. I'm very thankful for that. When I paint on very large canvasses, I stand, and when on smaller ones, I sit down. But I get up pretty often and walk away to see how the painting looks from a little distance.
Today I finished one painting and started another. I'm thinking I need to get another prepared, because I just might have some time to work on it! YIPPEE!! (Can you tell I am doing my favorite thing?) :)
Darrel is still very sick. I wish I could do something to make him feel better. :( :'(
I'm not taking time to address everyone, but it is so nice having Karma back. And Liz, sorry about Amanda's ankle, hope it heals quickly.
We have had a lot of thawing here this week, so it's really sloppy out, and the ruts in our road are so deep the car drags bottom going through them. >:(
I hope everyone has a great evening.
Hi, friends,
The Workers Compensation chain of events has started. The insurance company accepted the claim, and I'll be getting papers in the mail to read and sign and send back. Then, they'll assign a nurse contact person and my surgeries will be scheduled.
Marilyn, you did look like you enjoyed being at the Health Fair.
Pat, I tried to figure out that map to identify where I am several months ago, but was unsuccessful. Maybe someone will send me an instant message with step-by-step instructions. :-\
I've read all the posts and am sitting here thinking about shivering just to show that I love all of y'all who're dealing with super cold temps. Ours is supposed to go down to 19 degrees tonight, which is far too cold for me.
Y'all have a good evening.
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. I have a few minutes before I need to leave for coffee so will go ahead and post for the day. It was 63 degrees here yesterday and suppose to get to 50 today and the next few days. I sure don't envy you folks who live to the north and are experiencing all that cold weather. The other night is was -17 where my sister lives.
Pat left early this morning as has an early doctor's appointment. Around here the traffic is so bad that if you have to get anywhere during the rush hour you have to allow a lot of extra time. I offered to driver her there but she declined. That was nice of her so that I can go to coffee.
Ruth Ann, sure glad things are working smoothly for you with the insurance.
Janet, your speaking of the ruts with the thawing so reminds me of my growing up days when we lived on a farm and only had a dirt road for about a mile to the highway. I know exactly what you are talking about and there was always a place or to that were mudholes where you could get stuck. I'll take pavement anyday! :) Hope today finds Darrel feeling better.
Marilyn, nice picture of your health fair exhibit.
Gord, I see it is only 13 degrees up your way at the time I am posting.
Etta Sue, sure hope your neice is all right and that they find the cause of her fainting. Glad you got your fireplace fixed and having your son help you was extra special.
Pat, I hope you have a garage for your car. I seem to remember a picture you once posted that showed your garage. They really make a difference.
Karmat, it sounds like your little girl is now well clothed and must have a nice looking room.
Al, know what you mean by the fasting. It seems these cholesterol tests come around very fast.
A special greeting to all who visit with us today.
By the way, Etta Sue, I forgot to tell you I have read your devotional three times thus far. Good stuff.
Just a cheery good morning on my way to work. Y'all have a good day.
Ruth Ann
Good morning everyone. Today, my little girl is two. Wow. time sure flies. Her grandparents got her a little Dora the Explorer table (just her size) adn she has been sitting at it "reading" all morning. :)
Tomorrow night is the graduation for the program I teach in at the Community College (GED and Adult High School). Normally, I don't have any of "my" students graduating, or a very small number as I do a lab and not a "real" class like some of the instructors. However, tomorrow night, I've got 6 or 8 of "mine" going across the stage. Bernard is supposed to play the prelude, processional, and recessional, but he hasn't been feeling well. Please, pray for him.
Okay, time to hit the grindstone. Take care and stay warm all you "up north"

0°F when I got up. No thawing here. Bright sunshine though and still the ground is covered with white stuff. These cold days and what Larry said the temperature was in Georgia, I am looking forward to going to Florida Feb 21!
I got a surprise email this morning. Remember Jerry? His son, Jerry, sent me an email with pictures of his wife, Nerman, and son, Daniel. Jerry is still in the Army and the family transferred back to Italy...Naples this time...around Christmas. Daniel is 3½...a little man. I am thinking that Jerry has 4 more years to retire from the Army! They love Italy!
Ivalou and I are getting stir crazy so we are going to Pendleton for a Chinese lunch! >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^< >^..^<

Good Morning I am all ready for work with some time to sit and write a post. I have already been here to read.
Karma I am praying for Bernard. I know you are so proud of your students.
It sure poured rain yesterday here. At the time Ruth and I were leaving the Senior Center it was really coming down and we got soaked even with me carrying the brollie over both of us. even my pants were soaked. I had to come home and dry out my clothes. Needless to say the dogs did not get a walk yesterday. More rain due today and it is colder today than yesterday.
Gilbert left his new camera here It is a Kodak Easyshare Z710 10X zoom.
Does that mean it is an optical zoom. My little DX4330 EasyShare says 10Xoptical zoom. What is the difference.?
Good morning! :coffee:
I hope everyone is doing well! :)
From Mark 5
Jesus' First Missionary?
They arrived on the other side of the sea in the country of the Gerasenes. As Jesus got out of the boat, a madman from the cemetery came up to him. He lived there among the tombs and graves. No one could restrain him—he couldn't be chained, couldn't be tied down. He had been tied up many times with chains and ropes, but he broke the chains, snapped the ropes. No one was strong enough to tame him. Night and day he roamed through the graves and the hills, screaming out and slashing himself with sharp stones.
When he saw Jesus a long way off, he ran and bowed in worship before him— then bellowed in protest, "What business do you have, Jesus, Son of the High God, messing with me? I swear to God, don't give me a hard time!" (Jesus had just commanded the tormenting evil spirit, "Out! Get out of the man!")
Jesus asked him, "Tell me your name." He replied, "My name is Mob. I'm a rioting mob." Then he desperately begged Jesus not to banish them from the country.
A large herd of pigs was browsing and rooting on a nearby hill. The demons begged him, "Send us to the pigs so we can live in them." Jesus gave the order. But it was even worse for the pigs than for the man. Crazed, they stampeded over a cliff into the sea and drowned.
Those tending the pigs, scared to death, bolted and told their story in town and country. Everyone wanted to see what had happened. They came up to Jesus and saw the madman sitting there wearing decent clothes and making sense, no longer a walking madhouse of a man.
Those who had seen it told the others what had happened to the demon-possessed man and the pigs. At first they were in awe—and then they were upset, upset over the drowned pigs. They demanded that Jesus leave and not come back.
As Jesus was getting into the boat, the demon-delivered man begged to go along, but he wouldn't let him. Jesus said, "Go home to your own people. Tell them your story—what the Master did, how he had mercy on you." The man went back and began to preach in the Ten Towns area about what Jesus had done for him. He was the talk of the town.

Kevin
Marilyn, I thought yours had a 3x zoom. I did a search, and that's what it says.
Yes, if his says 10x zoom, that is the optical zoom probably.
Do a test and see if his zooms in better than yours. :)
Mine is only 3x, and I would love to have a 10x zoom. 17x would be even better. lol

Marilyn,
I guess it depends on how the company is advertising the camera. It couid be that it only optically zooms to say, 3X, and then the digital process takes over from there, totalling 10X.
The difference is that the optical zoom is accomplished with the lens, while digital zooming happens well, digitally. The image that the sensor is receiving is made to look zoomed by a digital "stretching" process in the camera's chip. The quality of the optical zoom is almost always better than the digital zoom.
In His Grip,
Kevin
Nita my camera is 3.1 mega pixels and 10X zoom
Marilyn, are you sure you have the DX4330? lol It's supposed to have a 3x optical zoom. Maybe it's a later model, or something, but everything I've looked at says 3.1 mega pixels and 3x zoom.
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/dx4330.html
I'm very interested because my Olympus C-5050 has a 3x zoom, and I'm looking for a camera with more zoom capabilities. Only looking. :)
You are right Nita but when I press the zoom it goes all the way up to 10X. I do have a DX4330. It does have 3X optical zoom the rest is digital zoom
>:( I just wrote a post, but I think it got lost when Marilyn posted at the exact moment I did. Oh, well.........not important.
I am home late, and have lots to do and need to get to bed at a reasonable hour, so will just say hello, and see your tomorrow!
:) Good evening to all. My wife and myself just came home from being invited out for dinner to friends of my wife parents. We had a wonderful time but thing that is missing is that there is no conversation about the Lord and if you try to bring it up the lady always gets to some other subject and also cuts her husband off when he try's to speak. So we pray that the holy spirit will shine through us and they will see something different in us. Please pray For John and Bunty that the Holy Spirit will speak to them .
Tomorrow at 8-00 I am going for a cat scan to see if they can find anything showing around the bulging disc so I ask that you pray the Lod's will about this and my back.
Hope that you all have a good night. God Bless Gord.
Gord, will be praying for you. Bad backs make us simply miserable - I deal with one from time to time.
I am late tonight, so just wanted to let y'all know the first surgeon evaluation appt will be on Monday, Feb 26.
Y'all have a good rest of the day.
Ruth Ann
Aha! Marilyn, that's the difference. I can get digital zoom, but not sure how much. Maybe the other camera is 10 optical plus digital.
Anyway, I imagine he can zoom way further than our cameras. :)
I've been tired today. I meant to go see a friend, recuperating from a broken ankle, but didn't even get that done. I did paint some on a dresser. and hauled some totes upstairs. And babysat for Mia, the puppy. And uploaded some pictures to Flickr. I guess I did do something, but it feel like a mostly unproductive day.
I'm so grateful that God doesn't depend on how I see myself to decide how He sees me. I need Him so much. I depend on His faithfulness and stability and love. Nita
I received this from Holland. Enjoy.

TWO HANDS TOGETHER
Two hands together
Clasped in prayer
Lifted up to the One you love
To God in Heaven there
Praying that the One who loves you best
Will bless you this very day
And bring you to His loving breast
And give you rest along the way
Whatever is in your heart
Tell it to the One above
Give all your troubles to Him
And He will give you all His love
Jeannine and Colin
Hi everyone....Two heads are better than one they say so Jeannine and I decided to put ours together to write a poem. Well....there is nothing in her head so that was a waste of effort! :idiot: :uglystupid: Only kidding 0:-)...Jeannine did the first line and I followed on and we did it line about. We are pleased with what we came up with and would like to share it with you all. It was so nice to work with you on this Jeannine and also a lot of fun...my prayers are with you in the coming days and do hope all goes well. God bless.
A lot of camera talk going on here...I dont understand it so I wont comment. Read all your posts and praying for you all. Take care everyone.
IN ME AND IN HIM
He is in the fluffy clouds above
That shadow me like His love
He is in the sun shining bright
That tells me of His light
He is in the fresh drop falling rain
Like His spirit that refreshes again
And in the soft crystal snow
Is the purity of the One I know
He is in a sweet bird's song
As my heart it sings along
I see His beauty in every flower
And in a clock's fast ticking hour
I hear His voice saying time is passing on
But I will be with you until all it is gone
Tossed no more for I rule the angry sea
And your soul is safely secured in me
He is in the air that keeps me living
Like His grace that's free and is forgiving
He is in the waters of fast flowing river
Like His love for me that flows forever
He is in my heart and I am in His hands
The longings of my soul He understands
And I in Him and Him In me
Together forever we will be

I wrote above poem this morning while I was waiting for Marlene to do the shopping. Jeannine..thank you once again for the inspiration. A friend in need is a friend indeed and I know stressful times are ahead of you. Take care.
Hi Gordon...I sympathy with you about your bad back...and we could do with consoling ourselves about Rangers! Celtic for the League title again! :ticked: :'(
I am having trouble putting my video films on to a dvd..and when I do get them on...my dvd player will not recognise them. My son Gregory and I are working on the problem and any help will be gratefully accepted. Have not time to reply to all your posts but my prayers are with you all. Take care.
hey everyone, just stopping by to say hi before getting ready and off to class hope ya'll have a great day!

I couldn't get on the internet this morning with my DSL. So I called. After I turned off the computer and pushed the power button in the modem, then turned the modem back on, I waited until three lights were lit. Then I turned on the computer and, voila! Internet was back. So I am back in business.
Colin....loved both your poems...with and without Jeannine's help!
I need to get busy and do some photos for Photo Guild Monday evening. I have nothing ready so far.

Hi all. I had a very busy day today including getting a new license plate for my second car. Rather than have to remember to put on the handicapped hanger I decided to just get a handicapped plate like I have on the other car. I still have the hanger so if I ride with someone else I can take it along.
This was our computer learning center volunteer meeting with a business luncheon and then we had our PC User Group meeting. It was almost 3:30 pm when I got home. I was so tired I had to rest for an hour. Just taking it easy tonight.
It was cold here today with a little snow or sleet predicted but it just rained a little bit and I sure didn't see any snow flakes.
Not much else to write about this evening.
Larry, I just got my hangtag renewed this week. It's a law we must be recertified here in Tennessee every 2 years.
Both my son and I have handicapped license plates, but, like you, I need the hangtag when riding with someone else.
A lady at work helped me and we went through three big filing cabinets (chock full) and prepared to archive the important stuff and then discarded duplicates. What a job! I'm bushed tonight.
I, too, enjoyed the poetry.
Y'all have a good evening.
Greetings from a soggy and warmer island. I am almost starting to think about Spring!
Love those cats, Etta Sue. The one spinning the bathroom tissue could be Squeek. That is her favorite trick when annoyed early in the morning!
I went and saw about getting new glasses. Had the optomitrist check my presc. and he made a slight change to what the medical dr. had presc. in July. Feels it should help. I am getting my progressive lens, plus a pair of strictly reading glasses. They have a deal where it only costs for the lens in the second pair. Still going to be close to $900.00....so pray that they will improve and not make things worse. I was actually treated with kindness and courtesy....not like the place I used to go for glasses. Also not as expensive.
Amanda is in lots of pain from her ankle and not enjoying the use of crutches. Will be going back to college on Monday, so hope things will be okay. With her accidents and Wendy going thro' menopause, I feel rather like leaving home! ::)
Gordon, I have the same problem with my back. Also had a herniated disk, that is when they did the scan. It is because of osteoporosis and years of arthritis, not much can be done for mine. I refuse to take anything stronger than Tylenol 3, and try to keep that down to when it is extreme. Which is most of the time now.....Find that moist heat helps the pain and keeping mobile, even tho' it hurts.
Possibly there will be other things they can do for your back that will help. I certainly hope that is the case.
Judy B, I enjoyed your link and showed it to Wendy. Made her laugh, so thanks.
Small Smile:
It is amazing how punctuation can change a meaning. Here is a phrase, and look how the meaning changes:
"woman without her man is nothing"
From one perspective: "Woman, without her man, is nothing."
From another perspective: "Woman! Without her, man is nothing."
^-^
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Trying to post, for the third time. If this one disappears, so will I! (At least for today.)
Liz, thanks for the smile. Your sense of humor is amazing, and I admire you for it!
Hi, Ruth Ann! Please don't work so hard!!
This was a busy, intense, but wonderful week for me. I enjoyed painting SO much! Do any of you want to see what I painted????
Tomorrow I must be in Lakin before 7:30 AM. So tonight I am going to bed EARLY!!
See all of you another day.
Yes please, Janet. Would love to view your paintings. :)
Stopped in again to mention that I finally visited Pat's Photo-a-day site and it is lovely. Haven't any idea how to post in there, so simply had to come and say how nice it is and hope everyone will go and take a peek!

Hello all! We have had a busy, busy day today. I had to run to the store to get something for Kristi's party, then the party, then I had to go speak to a group of homeschoolers about testing, then home again, get Kristi down for a nap, then graduation. We're tired. :)
Kristi's party was so cute. We had the two little girls from Sunday School over and had a princess dress up party. One of the little girls was 3 and the other was 4, but they are all about the same size. Kristi seemed a bit overwhelmed at first, but by the end was truly enjoying herself.
Then, at the homeschool meeting, there were a bunch of kids and they played somemore. No wonder it was hard for her to take a nap.
It is time to get the little people in bed, so i've got to keep this short.
Oh yea. Concerning optical vs. digital zoom. Digital zoom works basically the same way as cropping does in PaintShopPro. Beyond your optical zoom, the camera is "centering" and cropping the picture for you. It is not actually getting any "closer" to the subject. That is why a digitally zoomed picture may appear jaggy or pixelated -- there simply is not enough data to zoom completely all the way, effectively. The higher your optical zoom, the better.
Hi all,
sorry I haven't been posting lately. I suddenly became very popular at the paper while our photo editor was off sailing around the globe (well atleast the part around Puerto Rico) Anyway the staffer that filled in for her kept me quite busy in her absence. So how is everybody? Healthy, wealthy and wise I hope. I'm slowly starting to read past post to try and sort out who everybody is and what's been going on. It'll take some time but I should be able to catch on soon. So, is there any photographers here that make photography a full time business? I'm always looking to learn how others handle their workflow. I seem to struggle pretty bad with post processing. It would be so nice if we could just take pictures pop them onto a cd and get paid without having to go through all of the editing, cut lines, sorting and all else that happens after the shutter closes. For me it definately steals a lot of the enthusiasm of photo. I guess that pretty much happens with anything you enjoy doing that turns into work.
Marilyn... Yes I'm in California I live in the San Diego area. Born and raised here. Been here most of my life except during my 8 years in the Army.
Larry...Yes I'm an avid collector of all things sports. I have quite the collection of cards and memorabilia. My wife thinks I'm a little nutty but, she doesn't understand that my collection will be enough to send both kids to college when the time comes.
I still havent't been able to figure out how to post pics yet so if anybody is interested I have some work posted at Photobucket.com under Mil-Spec Photo. Most of it is journalist stuff so it's really not that impressive. Take a look if you'd like and I'll continue to decipher the picture posting mystery here on CPC. Well it's been a busy day for me and I have some of that after the shutter closes stuff to take care of. Namely clean my gear, sensor and recharge batteries for tomorrows assignment. God bless and I'll return soon.

Hey Gordon,
I just read the post about your back, VERY sorry. I was in a crane accident in 1996 and suffered some pretty severe spinal injuries. I had my 4th major spinal surgery done in 2003. I had to have my lower back fused at L-4-5 and S-1. I've been involved in a pain management group for several years and low back problems seemed to rule the roost. Anyway there are several options for your herniated disk. Surgery should be an absolute last resort. Look into traction. If done right it can alleviate most of the pain your suffering from. Something a bit more intrusive is called an IDET procedure. I had it done twice in hopes of not having to go through with surgery but, unfortunately for me it didn't work because I also had a fairly severe fracture in my spine. What they do is essentially go into the disk via a needle and remove some of the disk material to reduce the buldge. They can also insert a thin wire and super heat it to repair the damaged part of the disk. In cases where it works your back on your feet playing tennis in a matter of days. I'ts an out patient procedure which is also a big plus. I'll check with a couple people I know who have suffered from the same problem and see what worked for them. I know what your going through from first hand experience and I'm very sorry for your pain. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like at JTF6Agent@aol.com if you have any questions.

Hello Everyone!!
Not much happening in my neck of the woods. Today I am going to 60 Chix...the girls in my high school class of 1960. We are going to Great Wall...a Chinese Buffet. I have the guys and gals pertinent information on Excel. All I know about Excel is self-learned...trial by error. I couldn't figure out how to not have the extra columns to the right of my document. I finally did get rid of them...but I don't know how I did it! :idiot: But I have printed out 10 of them to pass around at lunch.
Cold and sunny again here in Central Indiana. Cold...as in 4°F above zero! Cold! I am certainly ready for a heat wave. Are you listening, God?
I got this funny in an email just now.....
Dear Lord," the preacher began with arms extended and a rapturous look on his upturned face, "without you, we are but dust..." He would have continued, but at that moment one very obedient little girl (who was listening carefully) leaned over to her mother and asked quite audibly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mommy, WHAT is butt dust?"
Church was pretty much over at that point...

Hi everyone. It is a beautiful day but cool as it is 36 degrees at noon. I think we are in for the rest of the day. We had 8 men at for coffee this morning.
Etta Sue, I never worry about the extra cells since I just set the print area and capture what I want to print.
Nick, thanks for answering my question.
Janet, we certainly do want to see the results of your latest painting project.
Katmat, it sound like Kristi had a great time and that you did also at the party.
Liz, quite a few years ago my wife broke her ankle but could never master the crutches. I had to borrow a wheelchair from the church for her to use for a few days. Your glasses are certainly expensive but hope they are a big help.
Ruth Ann, our handicap placards are good for 5 years and then you just take it back in and they reissue another one.
Hope everyone has a good day.
This is one Winter that we don't lack for conversation material! My friend Winona and I were to go to Great Bend for our monthly painting meeting today. I drove up to Lakin, met her, and we got as far as Garden City and realized there was black ice on the highway. She slowed for a stop sign and we slid about 50 feet!! Whew! We looked at each other, and she said "Shall we go back?" I said it was fine with me, so we stopped by Wal-Mart, then came back home. We did call the hostess and tell her we weren't going to make it on up. I can sure use a few hours at home, anyway.
I have read all the posts, and will post more next time, but just now I am falling asleep on my keyboard. Too many short and a few almost no sleep nights this week. :( See you soon.
I am finally getting here to post today. I had a wonderful conversation with a very good friend of mine on Skype this morning. Then I went to curves for my workout, came home and changed and went on to work.
Ruth called me at 5:55 am to ask me what time it was and said she couldn't sleep. Praise God I had already been up for an hour. She called again at 7:45 to say she still couldnt sleep I told her I would be there at 9:30.
When I got there she was fully dressed in her raincoat and bonnet and getting in her car on the passenger side. ( she can't drive, can't see). She was so confused this morning. I checked her blood glucose and it was normal at 117. I thought maybe that might be the reason she was confuse. I also did the check to see if she was having a stroke asking her to smile , say a simple sentence and raise both arms. Her son was coming over to check on her this afternoon. I hope he stays with her for awhile.
Good news though, I got her Blood Glucose straightened out. I called the diabetic nurse and told her what all the low readings were and she contacted Ruth's doctor, We took her off the diabetic meds. It seems that the juice I have been giving her has stabilized her diabetes. I had been told that it would by one of the Doctor's in my business. They had run double blind placebo controlled clinical testing on diabetics, the results being that it helped to stabilize them and they were able to get off the diabetic pills. I don't know the results on those on insulin injections. Interesting information. I will continue to take the readings and journal the results. I learn something new everyday. OK I know TMI
I have to say I am soooo jealous of you guys that get to experience REAL weather. I'm not bragging about living in San Diege I really mean I'm jealous. If I could box up some of the weather we have here and trade it for something different once in a while that would be great. I personally get sick of the same weather day after day after day. I tried to get my wife to move somewhere where it snowed once in a while but, she grew up in New York and refuses to move away from San Diego. I on the other hand grew up here all my life and enjoyed the time I spent away. One of the things I enjoyed the most was watching seasons change. What I would give to wake up to a brisk minus something temperature. I understand most of you are fed up with the cold and miserable weather but, be glad you have weather. We have sun, sun and then once in a while we get...uhhh more sun. Have you ever tried to have a snowball fight when it's 80 degrees. Kinda hard to find the snowballs in the first place.
I went to Germany a few years ago with my wife and we stayed at her grandfathers house. It turned very cold one day and I asked if it snowed and they said it hadn't snowed there in years. I wished out loud it would snow. The next morning her grandfather woke me pretty early and said he had something for me to do. I went down stairs and found a snow shovel by the door. He told me I was the one who wished for it so, I had to shovel the sidewalk. I was so excited. I looked out side and sure enough there was about 1/2 foot of snow. Problem was he lived on a corner lot so I had my work cut out for me. They had a pretty good laugh and I had a blast. We started a snowball fight with some teenagers that were getting out of school later that day gut our butts kicked.
There is nothing more enchanting than the sound of snow crunching under your feet when you walk in it. I would love to be able to play in the snow with my son and daughter. He's 7 and she's 6. My wife took them last year up to Big Bear mountain to a ski resort with her uncle to play in the snow and tube down the hills. I had to shoot an assignment that day so I missed out. This year we haven't had much local snow so no chance for fun so far. Anyway if any of you would ever like to trade houses for a couple of weeks and enjoy a warm winter for a change just let me know. I'll leave the keys in the car and beer in the fridge. But, you better have plenty of snow for us.

Hi, friends,
Have enjoyed catching up on today's news.
I went to lunch with friends, and then came straight back, and will soon vege out in my bedroom.
I'm still tired and achy from all that lifting and packing yesterday. But, a long, warm shower this morning helped a lot.
Y'all have a good day.
Ruth Ann
I am going to the Valentine Banquet at the church in just a few minutes. I am on the clean up crew afterwards. I always end up doing that whether or not I sign up for it I just do it.
It is pouring rain here my front yard has several big puddles . We are expected to have rain for the next week or so. Jane and Nita you must be pretty wet up your way too.
TTYL
Actually, Marilyn, we've had only scattered showers--intermittant rain--with some pretty nice sun breaks. Not too bad.
I have been watching the weather reports for between here and Sacramento, as well as the road conditions over the pass, because I will be traveling down that way on Monday. Looks okay so far.
A friend and I will be in Woodland, CA from Monday through Friday, attending a teaching seminar. Guess y'all will just have to find a way to get along without me for the week. ;)
I have been getting things ready for my time away...you know, sorting what I'll need to wear, doing laundry, cleaning house, trips to the store and bank, (maybe that's backwards ... I went to the bank before I went to the store :) )and next is packing a suitcase and getting on the road. That will happen early Monday morning, so I'll still be around here tomorrow to spy on -- keep track of -- listen to what all y'all are up to and pray for the needs, rejoice in your good news, and just plain be here ...
Oh, yeah, Janet ---- I want to see the results of your painting efforts too. :)
Hi everyone. I seem to be the first one here today. It is around 30 degrees but sunny so not too bad.
We will head out to church shortly. This is senior Sunday and the choir will be composed of persons 50 and older. We get good participation from the seniors. Following church we have our annual senior banquet for Valentine's Day. It is always a lovely lunch with nice table decorations and some entertainment following the luncheon. We have been attending this for quite a few years.
Janet, it sounds like you were wise to turn around when you ran into black ice. Cars on ice just have no control. There will be another day for painting.
Jane, we will be keeping you in mind on your weeks adventure. Have a great time.
Ruth Ann, do you have a business trip this week? I see you said you were packing.
Mike, it wouldn't take you long to get very tired of that snow shoveling. However, I agree with you that it is nice to have distinct seasons. While we have little or no snow here in the Atlanta area we do have the four seasons. If it snows it never stays on long and many years we get no snow at all. Sometimes we get ice and that is very unpleasant and does a lot of damage.

Friends are God's way of taking care of us.
Good Morning
Larry I have copied that Bible humor and sent it on to my Pastor.
The banquet last night was wonderful. The men did all the cooking it was a benefit for the Men's Ministries. The Women's Ministries was supposed to do the cleanup however, there were only 3 of us that took on that chore. there was Barbecued Tri Tip roast, corn , baked potato, green salad, Carrot and chocolate cakes, They had chicken for those who preferred chicken.
Three of us asked asked specifically for chicken when we bought our tickets, (they bought two whole chickens) However when the servers got to my table there was no chicken left. I had been in the kitchen to make sure my piece of chicken was there it was, ( don't eat beef) but it was given to someone else, so I didn't get any dinner. Lots of people asked for chicken who were not on the list. My table was the last to be served. Another sister gave me her piece of chicken. She only had cut off a small piece to eat. After having had the gastric bypass surgery she can't eat very much.
I am ready for church just need to put some lotion on my hands.
Jane I will be praying for you to have a safe trip. A mutual friend of our has ask me to tell you thank you for sharing your testimony on CP.

Nick ~ You are a first! I have never ever in my many years heard of anyone wanting snow or wanting to exchange weather. While I truly like the changing of the seasons, I don't wish for snow. So..... I decided to send you a snowman. So I went out in my front yard and made a great big ball of snow for the bottom. Then a smaller ball for the middle and a littler ball for his head. I found a top hat for his head, some coal for his eyes and mouth, a carrot for his nose, even a pink pipe for him and a broom. But I am so sorry, when I brought him inside to ready him for mailing....well, here's what happened!! (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fhome.earthlink.net%2F%7Eettasue9842%2Fsitebuildercontent%2Fsitebuilderpictures%2F%253Cbr%2520%2F%253Enickssnowman.jpg&hash=8863197177f2fbf81d6ec6c42a9a5b79c2616ccd)
And I noticed someone else took a video of of their snowman....hope this makes Nick feel so much better! Snowman (http://www.vimeo.com/clip:44978)
All funning aside, I have already been to church and back home. I usually stay for two services but today was a guest minister and he was preaching at all four services. So I left early and ate breakfast at a restaurant and came back home. I did fill my car up with gas. Thursday Regular gas was $2.35.9 in Pendleton. Yesterday it was $2.30.9 in Anderson. This morning in Greenfield it was $2.11.9. So I filled up before church....before they raised it 20 cents or more! I still think the gas companies are robbing us and getting by with it! ^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+

Hi, friends,
I really enjoyed the worship at church today. Our pastor preached a great sermon on the basics of praying for others, helping others carry their burdens, etc. Our attendance is getting so much better. It's really encouraging.
Two prayer requests. One involves long-time friends of my son and daughter in law in Atlanta. The lady and her husband are very much still in love after all their years of marriage and children, etc. Well, unfortunately, she's got the dreaded diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Please help me pray for them as they go through this very trying time. Her name is Betty.
Another involves a new couple who have begun attending our church. Obviously, they're having some serious marital problem, and I feel a special burden that they find a way through their difficulties letting Christ be the Center of both their lives.
Y'all have a good afternoon.
Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann - I just prayed for your two requests. May our God use our prayers for their good and His own glory!
Ruth Ann~I, too, have just prayed for your requests. You know the chord this struck with me ... I know God is able ------ in ALL THINGS!
Jane, I wish you many blessings on your trip this week, physical, spiritual, relational, financial, and any other way God chooses. <3
Ruth Ann, praying here for your requests. Drop me a line via email and let me know how you are doing, please---or a PM here. Thanks.
We went to visit Diane and family this afternoon for a little while, as the boys and Toni were home from college for the weekend. It will soon be church time, so I am locking the door here and opening a new one for the week.
You will find fresh coffee, Chai tea, green tea, cappaccino, hot chocolate, water, and lots of baked goodies HERE.
