Morning Devotional...

[attachimg=1]

Not my photo but a wonderful one I found on the www

1 Peter 1:13-16

"Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."

We are going to do a study, a biblical study on the holiness of God. And what I can see in Scripture and what I can see in Church history, the holiness of God has always been held up not as an attribute of God, but as possibly—if one could say such a thing—the attribute of God in that when you begin to talk about God or you desire to know God, or you would like draw near to God, the first thing that you must come face to face with is something that is utterly foreign to sinful man, that God is holy. What does that mean?

Well, I would like to read to you for a moment just a definition. The word holy comes from a Hebrew term which means separated, put apart, distinct from the common or ordinary. Holiness refers, basically, to two things when we talk about God. One, it refers to moral purity. God is pure, pure, pure, pure, without stain, without blemish, without wrinkle, without spot. He is holy. And holy not like we understand holy. We are not talking here about good. We are talking about perfect. We are talking about moral perfection. God is morally perfect. When we talk about holiness we also need to understand that God is not only morally perfect, God is separated from all things and all creatures that are not morally perfect. That is to say, God can't tolerate sin. He can't even tolerate a sin. As I said last night, how many times did Adam and Eve sin before they were cast out of the presence of God? Once.

God has no, no, no tolerance to anything or anyone that contradicts or opposes his nature.
He is holy.

But also holiness refers to something else, something that we need to understand in America today since we have made God so common. Holiness not only means that God is morally pure. Holiness means that God is not common. He is not ordinary. He is not casual. He is distinct. He is not like us. And no matter what term we can use to call him forth, doesn't matter if we can call him Abba, Father, a word that actually means daddy.  That doesn't matter. He is still not ordinary. He is still not casual and he is still not common and he is never to be taken lightly. He is God. And God is holy.
~Paul Washer

VERSE 1
In the presence of Your infinite might
I'm so small and frail and weak
When I see Your power and wisdom, Lord
I have no words left to speak

VERSE 2
In the presence of a holy God
There's new meaning now to grace
You took all my sins upon Yourself
I can only stand amazed

CHORUS
And I cry holy, holy, holy God
How awesome is Your name
Holy, holy, holy God
How majestic is Your reign
And I am changed in the presence of a holy God

VERSE 2
In the power of Your glory
All my crowns lie in the dust
You are righteous in Your judgments, Lord
You are faithful true and just

Really good thoughts for the week, Judy.  Thanks!  We can never be holy as God is holy, but we must continually press toward that mark.

Church was really good this morning.  We are doing a series on The Blessed Life, about all the blessings and benefits of tithing and giving.  It is partly a video series by Robert Morris (I think that's right) who pastors a huge church in Dallas.

Beth seemed to enjoy the service, too!

Thanks for that study this morning, Judy.

Janet, I would love to follow your reminder to watch "The Bible", but (sob, sob,) I don't have the History Channel.   :'(

I noticed that LifeWay was promoting the series. Likely, they are selling it. I have my DVR set to record the entire series.

It was a good day with a great sermon from our pastor. As he spoke, my graphics design mind began to work and I sketched an org chart (no - TWO org charts). I scribbled through the first chart, for I had put Jesus first, then answering up to Jesus were first others, then self in that order.

However, I quickly remembered that we are to love others as we love ourselves. So, the second org chart showed Jesus at the top, then one line with 2 boxes, one at each end, with the words "others" and "self" in those boxes.

After service we discussed this, and he was quick to point out that if we are incapable of loving ourselves, then how CAN we practice love for others?

I've thought about this conversation quite a lot today, for I have struggled with self esteem all my life. More for me to work on, looks like...

Love for you all,
Ruth Ann

:)  Hi to all I am finally back and I have looked at a lot of the post's and there are a lot of things that each of us can always pray for.

Our pastor preached on the need to commit ourselves to prayer and how important this should be and I know that in my life I do not do enough of it. So please remember me in your prayers so that I would become a much better prayer warrior  There are so many things that we can lift to him each day and that is so important.

Etta Sue.  I am so glad to see that you had a good time in Florida and that you managed to get home safely. How is your sister I hope that she is well.

Larry and Pat.  I am glad to see that Pat is doing better and being able to get around better day by day my wife has her surgery on the 10th. of April and she is till a bit concerned that it will go well as she has so much trouble with her back but we will pray that she will have the faith to get through this :)

Hi Judy and John.  Hope all is well and did you finally get the problems solved with the course you are doing. Why don't you talk to Ruth V. as I think that she does accounting. God's richest blessings  SIS.

To all others on C.P.   may the Lord be with all of you this week and give you strength to be a witness for him and also a help to some one who needs it.  God bless.  Gordon and Noreen. ;) :cp: :rocker: :bananadance: :pine:

Hello!!
Gord, I was over at JudyB's last week, however we never got to go over the problems she was having.... I have been busy with the tax season upon us, however I'm willing to help, if I can. Although I worked in the accounting field for over 40 years and took some university courses, it might take me a bit to understand what her teacher wants.... however I'm up to the challenge, Judy!!

Gord, I agree with you in regards to prayer...... during the past week I have been thinking of my home in heaven.

I want, so much, to be able to be so close to the Lord, here on earth, so that when I go to be with Him fore-ever, I can just take up from where we left off. I know that to know God more intimately I need to be immersed in prayer and His Word. It's so easy to get distracted by daily living, however I know that He will help me, because it's His desire for us to fellowship with Him. So, Gord, we will pray for each other and ask our C.P. friends to join with us.

I had to walk away from some of the violent scenes in the "Bible"/  Back in a minute.

There was a brief meeting after church and they now intend to have an extra offering once per month where people can bring their change or whatever.  That will go towards another needy place.  This little membership just gives and gives - they have even bought two cows for overseas projects.  What a fun & faithful group.

We can't record anything on this t.v. system here - wish we could.

Greetings! It's the wayward one again! I am so sorry that I do not come here often and oh so thankful that yawl never forget me and always send me emails.

I am still working but have more hours and at a new place where God is using me tremendously. I work in a 55+ building where the residents and myself are just about the same age!

God has brought me a long way! I now have my own office and am facilitating a women's journal group as well as doing a fun fitness group! I am also office assistant and volunteer with the Second Harvest meal distribution and Meals On Wheel. Our place is supposedly Independent Living...one and two bedroom apartments, but somewhere down the line, corporate and big business forgot that we are supposed to CARE, so God is equipping me and growing me up daily and I could not be any more thankful.

I am still speaking at high schools and churches and still writing Internet devotionals and have published my second book. Working on two more as we speak! I also am developing a little food shelf of my own for those who do not qualify for the second harvest.

My life has been beset with trials, tragedies and heart aches, but each challenge makes me stronger in the Lord!

Blessings to all and thanks for having me!
In Christ, Zenobia
PS PLEASE pray that I can get a better computer. This one is this side of SHOT! Or maybe it's BEEN shot in the leg for a while! LOL

Ruth and Gord,My problem is knowing how to apply the GAAP principles to the problems.  The application can be difficult.

John left early this morning.  Hopefully to be home again on Friday. we had a quiet weekend this week.

I have a class soon so I am off for now.

Jeanne  When the series is over you may be able to borrow the CD's from a library and watch it later.  I have recorded it from last night, we didn't watch it. I will later in the week.

I had a "J" night last night. Kept waking up checking the clock to make sure John didn't sleep in today.  Wish I had known that he set his alarm! Then I had my class this morning.  I do believe I will lay down for a bit.

Have a good day everyone.

Carol, I also had to walk away from some of the more violent parts.  Paul finds that too difficult to watch so he stayed in another room.  ;)

Hi everyone, It is after eleven and this is the first opportunity to get on the computer today.  After coffee I went to Aldi's for some groceries.  When I went to check out I looked in my billfold for my debit card as Aldi's doesn't take credit cards.  I couldn't find it and after searching realized I had enough cash to pay for my order.  I came home and told Pat about this and she reminded me we had decided not to carry or use the debit card anymore and had put them away for safekeeping.  I was greatly relieved but a bit embarrassed that I didn't remember.  Today is my Monday men's luncheon.

We had expected that our son and dil were to be here today but Pat called yesterday afternoon and our dil said they were not coming as our son is warn out.  Mary had spent several hours yesterday preparing food for our meal today and had they called and told us when they decided not to come it would have saved her that effort.  Of course, we will be eating well for several days.  She also made an old fashioned, from scratch angel food cake that is delicious. Also another lady from our church brought us a big chicken casserole so we are not going to starve.  This is a big change from when I was trying to prepare meals.  :)

Judy, that for the devotional thoughts for this week.

Ruth Ann, as I was reading your post my thought was also of the command to love our neighbors as ourselves and thus must not neglect ourselves in loving our neighbors.

Gord, sure it has seemed a long time coming for your wife's surgery.  I have a friend whose wife has been in terrible back and leg pain to the point she couldn't really walk.  Wednesday she is having a device implanted that will stop the nerve pain and is controlled with a device outside the body.  She has had the external version and found that it stopped her pain and she was able to walk straight.  She had to go through a lot of testing and counseling before they would do this final step.  I don't know what the device or procedure is called.

Carol, it sounds like you have found a very caring church to attend while you are away from home.  We have recorded the "Bible" program but haven't watched it yet as wanted to be able to bypass the commercials.

I recorded 'The Bible' last night.  Haven't watched it yet.  I just looked on hulu.com to see if it was available on there for Jeanne.  Shame on hulu...so far it isn't on there.  Does anyone know of any other website that shows TV shows, movies and videos?

Church was awesome...cold going and coming but inside it was warm with great fellowship.  Sunday School was great.  The teacher is very knowledgeable and make learning easy and fun.

Just Evelyn and I went out to eat yesterday.  I had Tuna Salad and Broccoli Cheddar soup at Panera's.  I was home by 1pm.

Then it was tackle un-doing everything from my trip and doing what needed to be done because of my trip.  I got the suitcase unpacked and then tackled the mail.  I got the bank statement in the mail and tackled that.  Wow!  Was I a bad girl last month.  Three mistakes.  One for 3 cents, one for $3 and one for $7!!!  I found all of them and then I was still $44 off!  I had three entries from vacation so I decided to add them to the register and then total it all up when I found my mistake.  One of them was for gas in Florida on my debit card.  Guess how much?  $44.  So I balanced out with the bank.

Then I watched some TV until time to get ready to go to Small Groups.  We learned again and had a great fellowship.

Home again and watched some more TV.  Eventually I will get caught up on my shows!!

Today I am doing laundry...three loads.  I took Ivalou's mail to her and she gave me a check for her part of the gas and motels.  Then I spent over 2 hours with Bible devotions and reading.  Now I am hungry and ready to eat.

Tonight is Church Council Meeting.  The announcer yesterday said tonight was a very important meeting for the building committee and wants all of them to attend also.  Oh, how I am praying that we can put a spade in the ground and start building our new church building!!

When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder    (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/whenroll.mid)
(Click to hear music)

When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain

When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll is called up yonder I'll be there.

On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain

Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care;
Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain

So it appears that I was the only one here who actually WATCHED the first installment of The Bible?  In that case, I am not going to give my opinion until I see some of yours.

I worked at the care home today.  Really easy day, in fact, boring.  Some days are so hectic, and then some are like today.  Of course I was sleepy when I got home, after rising at 5 AM, so had a little nap!

Zenobia!  How nice to see you and catch up a little on your life!  Sounds as if you are doing great!

Larry, glad your debit card wasn't lost!  And I know what you mean about the embarrassment, as I do forget things quite often.  :-[

See you all later!

Otherwise, I found it just fine.  The crossing of the Red Sea was amazing!

Pat, we don't have a DVR either.  Beth does, though.  And if you thought there was too much violence in that first segment, how will you get through the crucifixion scenes?  They are the worst!

I felt the casting of Moses not a good choice, just something about the guy didn't seem to fit (my opinion only, of course.)  I have seen a couple interviews with Roma Downey and her husband, very good!  ;)

I'm ready to go work out, missed yesterday, of course, because I worked at the care home.  I am tempted to be lazy and skip it, but that wouldn't be good for me.  So I'm going!

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast but not very chilly day.  However, we have a high percentage chance of having rain today.  Nothing on the schedule for today other than to attend a meeting at 11 am.  The visiting nurse came yesterday afternoon to evaluate what Pat needs in terms of therapy.  There is a good chance she will be able to get the same therapist from the knee recovery, whom Pat really liked.  Stacey is suppose to finally get the charger for her wheelchair delivered today so she won't be apartment bound.  She had to miss her monthly doctor's appointment yesterday but should be able to reschedule it and also get to the grocery store.

Gord, the next time I am in contact with my friend I will try to get the name of the procedure or device they will be using to stop the pain.  Hopefully Zeebers will see your comment and send you an email by clicking on your picture.  I have gone back to find that message from Zeebers that I copied here but am not having any luck finding it.

Etta Sue, most networks rerun some of their tv showing on the computer after they have aired.  I did check The History Channel and there are clips and info about the Bible mini-series but they are not showing the full show.  You can watch most of the series shows on ABC, NBC and CBS, etc., on the computer. It is frustrating when the bank account doesn't balance.  We sometimes forget to record debit purchases in our Money program, which we use to reconcile the monthly statements.

Pat, I just saw an article that said the rating for the Bible series last Sunday night were really high so a lot of people interested and watching.  We will watch it soon.  Our cable service has a Recorder that will record two shows at once as it serves two TVs off of one box.  We use Dish satellite TV and they provided the recorder as a part of the two year contract.

Smokey, beautiful picture and Pat thanks for posting it here for all to see.

Janet, I have never watched the movie "The Passion" as understand the crucifixion scenes break you heart.  Good for you getting your exercise in.

Good morning, all!  Cloudy and chilly here in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains!   :)

Yesterday I went to my audiologist for my last free cleaning/adjustment.  They're advising a replacement of the five year old hearing aids but I told him I just have to trust the Lord to keep these working.

Sunday night was a true J night, so I was tired last night and turned everything off early and snuggled down when the night time setting kicked in on the thermostat.  I didn't fall asleep until about 11:00 and woke up again around 2:00 - wide awake until after 6:00 a.m., decided to rest another hour or so and the next thing I knew it was 10:05!!!  I shouldn't need a nap today!

Larry, the reason you couldn't find Zeeber's post was that Pat had already moved it here.   ;)

Thought the Bible was good--way too many commercials towards the end; don't like the interruptions when you are really getting absorbed in it but that can't be control.
I, too, didn't think the actor playing  Moses was as commanding enough in the role(guess I like Charton Heston better as Moses)

I like how they started the movie; thought they would start with Genesis but found this beginning done very well.

Hope all have seen it by now and I didn't spoil anything for them.
I have free on demand on my cable channel and it's under entertainment, then the history channel so I don't have to tape it...

Best to all

Yes, Larry, the crucifixion scenes in The Passion are heartbreaking!  And when we visited the Holy Land Experience, the re-enactment of the crucifixion was so well done, it was easy to believe it was real.

Joyce, I agree--that guy is no Charlton Heston!  I love the Ten Commandments movie, thought it so well done.  The costumes were so much better, etc.  But I know this series is a labor of love for the Lord by Roma and her husband, so do not want to be too critical of it.  May God bless them for the four years and untold money spent doing it; and may it bring many, many souls to the Lord.

I'm home, but pulled a muscle in my leg, so am having to do special stretches to try to work it out, it hurts!  :'(  Well, I am not crying, really.  ;)

There's a land beyond the river that we call the sweet forever
And we only reach that shore by faith, you see
Yes I want to see my Jesus
Shake His hand and have Him greet us
When they ring those golden bells for you and me.

Don't you hear the bells a - ringin'
Can't you hear the angels singin'
It's a glory hallelujah jubilee
In the far off great forever just beyond the shining river
When they ring those golden bells for you and me.

When our days have known their number
When in death we sweetly slumber
When the Kingdom mends the spirit to be free
There'll be no more stormy weather
We'll live peacefully together
When they ring those golden bells for you and me.

Don't you hear the bells a - ringin'
Can't you hear the angels singin'
It's a glory hallelujah jubilee
In the far off great forever just beyond the shining river
When they ring those golden bells for you and me

I still haven't watched 'The Bible'.  I really don't think anyone could tell anything about it to ruin it for me.  I know how it ends!   ;)

Busy day...even for me.  I have been to the pool, got my nails done, ate lunch, got Hawaii oiled and maintained, cashed a check at the bank, and got some supplies at Dollar General.  Took Ivalou her mail.  And the trash is out ready to be picked up in the morning!

The Weather Guessers say we are in for SNOW!  And lots of it.  While getting Hawaii worked on, I looked at the Weather Bug on Droid and just north of me was all pink...snow.  The Weather Guessers said it would hit Indy at 3pm.  It's almost 4pm and still just rain outside!

Anyway, I have no where to go tomorrow other than Wednesday Night Live tomorrow night.  And if it snows much, that will be called off.

Will get to see my trucker son tomorrow again - they're to pass through town about time folks are stretching and turning off the alarm. :) , so you know who will be turning off the alarm at oh-dark-thirty tomorrow. :)

Much love to all,

I watched the 1st. part of Bible and liked everything but the violence.  They did skip some things though - I was glad to see the part of Rahab (the woman who hid the two Christians).  What an interesting story about her.  Moses wasn't commanding enough -

Ruth Ann:  Sleep fast tonight and enjoy meeting your son.  I hope he doesn't have to drive through the snow but if he does, I wish him  very safe travel.

Zeebers:  Hooray!  You are back.  come again very soon.  What a full and vibrant work time you have and it sounds perfect for you.

Al  Remember the song, Into each life, some rain must fall?  At least I think it was a song.  Don't forget to wear a hat.

Friends came here today and they like to go for the $1.50 slice of pizza, so we did.  It costs forty cents more for pepperoni and the slice is the size of two slices, such a bargain - anyway, they came, ate, and left to go home for a nap.  I had some pounding and physical therapy this morning then the visit and a ten minute snooze so feel better.  There is a pan of brownies here - will share with anyone.

Another thing about the Bible show--Sarah was VERY BEAUTIFUL, but the woman playing her isn't even attractive!  What's with that?  Surely they could have found one beautiful woman for that part!?!  But, if beauty is in the eye of the beholder.......oh, well.

At our Bible study last night, we talked about this series, and were all in agreement about the Moses character; but also that we pray it will get people to pick up the bible and read the stories for themselves.

My leg is better, and it's time to get to the gym again.  See you later!

Return unto thy rest, O my soul;
for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.
Psalm 116:7

Author:  Jean S. Piogott, 19th Century
Musician:  James Mountain, 1843-1933

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

Refrain
Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Beloved
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Refrain

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Refrain

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting 'neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth's dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father's glory,
Sunshine of my Father's face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

Hi everyone.  It is a chilly, overcast and windy day here in Georgia.  It was 36 degrees when I went to coffee.  I had to fill the car with gas this morning and it was really chilly standing next to the gas pump. I just now got back from a trip to Kroger's and then stopped at the computer repair shop and picked up my desktop computer.  I will put things back in place during the next couple of days.  I am also fixing up Pat's old laptop to be able to send to Mary when she goes home in a couple of weeks.  She doesn't have internet and this will be used basically to play games on.  She is really enjoying doing that on Pat's computer and I just had the old computer sitting in a box.

Pat continues to make progress each day. We are still awaiting the physical therapy to call and make an appointment to come here.  Stacey did get the new charger for her wheelchair yesterday afternoon and has already been out for a brief time this morning.  This is a different charger than originally came with the chair as they have been having problems with the original ones.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Jeanne, I saw that Pat had moved the conversation after I had posted.  Regarding your hearing aids, if they are working why replace them until necessary. I expect it is cold up your way today.

I have written a long post and have read all the postings up to now but will not make individual comment today.  It is about lunch time and then time to rest this afternoon.

Well, the Weather Guessers were right and they were wrong.  Right in that we did get snow.  Wrong in that we didn't get as much as they said we would.  So all is white and good!

I got a call this morning saying that Wednesday Night Live Bible study is cancelled.  So now I have no where to go today but to the mailbox!!

Tomorrow I have a blood draw at the hospital.  So I asked Ivalou if she wanted to go with me, then eat breakfast somewhere and then go to Walmart so she can get groceries in.  She said she would think about it.  So I don't know.  I may just be going by myself!

Nothing much more to talk about today.

When I was suppose to be sleeping a funny thought came to mind..I realize I said that I thought Heston played a more commanding Moses but then the thought was why not have Moses be a common man that GOD would come to and bring him his words to follow him and be a leader for his people..

Makes me feel that GOD could come and call anyone of us to be a leader of HIS words ; just a common person someone who everyone can relate to.

Just a thought when I should have been sleeping....

This has been an interesting week.  I had a friend pass away suddenly, a lady who always seemed healthy.  We knew her for over 20 years.  She walked downstairs to her husband complaining of chest pain, Her husband asked if she wanted to go to the hospital, ahe said yes and dropped dead.  So sad as I don't know what her spiritual state was.

We have snow today, house is feeling chilly, however the thermostat is at 70. So I will put on a sweater.

Larry is there a good free spyware program I can download?  Also a pop up blocker?  I have AVG virus protection.

I have an accounting test to do......Not looking forward to that!

Have a great day everyone!

Tell Me the Story of Jesus  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/tell-me-the-story-of-jesus.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"There is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all men." 1 Timothy 2:6

Words: Fanny Crosby, in The Quiver of Sacred Song, by William Kirkpatrick and John Sweney (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: John J. Hood, 1880).
Music: John R. Sweney

Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.
Tell how the angels in chorus,
Sang as they welcomed His birth.
"Glory to God in the highest!
Peace and good tidings to earth."

Refrain

Tell me the story of Jesus,
Write on my heart every word.
Tell me the story most precious,
Sweetest that ever was heard.

Fasting alone in the desert,
Tell of the days that are past.
How for our sins He was tempted,
Yet was triumphant at last.
Tell of the years of His labor,
Tell of the sorrow He bore.
He was despised and afflicted,
Homeless, rejected and poor.

Refrain

Tell of the cross where they nailed Him,
Writhing in anguish and pain.
Tell of the grave where they laid Him,
Tell how He liveth again.
Love in that story so tender,
Clearer than ever I see.
Stay, let me weep while you whisper,
Love paid the ransom for me.

Refrain

Busy day so far.  First I got my blood draw taken care of with ONE stick!!  I will ask for Erica again!

Then to Perkins for breakfast.

Then to Walmart.  For someone that only needed Fish Oil capsules and mustard, I sure spent a lot!!  My trunk was full of Ivalou's and my purchases.

Then home to carry Ivalou's groceries in and then to my drive to carry mine in.  Cat litter sure is heavy!  Now everything is put away and I am in comfy clothes ready for the rest of the day.

Ivalou and I both watched 'The Bible' last night.  If you missed it, look at your guide on the History Channel and if it is about Noah, it's the first of the series.  I enjoyed this episode.  Yes, it was violent but face it, the Bible is full of violence.  And I have pictured Moses being meek and shy...very similar to this Moses.  Remember he stuttered and this Moses, kind of stuttered also.  The one thing I thought was Abraham should have been older...but he did age and did have gray hair when Isaac was born and almost sacrificed.

Robins...robins...robins.  Spring must be coming to Indiana.  I see 5 robins in my front yard as I am typing!  Fat robins so they are eating something.

That's it for today!

I just got word from Heather.  She was at the school doctor, and he has said because of the concussion she needs to take an additional 2 weeks off school.  If she does that she will loose her funding and will have to start repaying it immediately.  This mom is concerned.

Thankfully he was able to access the hospital records.  She isn't saying much, I am now wondering if there "WAS" a brain bleed.......

Don is off walking to pick up our vehicle after oil change and new gas cap.  We drove there then walked back here - everything is so close in this town and it sure makes staying here easy.  Of course, today the weather is about perfect.  I am listening to "Killing Kennedy" by O'Reilly and another author.  Facts I never knew.  "Killing Lincoln" was full of new facts as well - am looking forward to the next book.

JudyB:  So sorry for the dilemna for Heather and for your concern as a mom.   Hugs to you.

This "Bible" comes on at 10 PM and we have given up here.  We can't record on the service we have so hopefully it will be on tape someday at the library.

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful and warmer, sunny day here in Georgia.  I have stayed home all day and spent most of it working on setting up the laptop for Mary and also getting my desktop setup as I want it again.  I have had a lot of fun this afternoon finding educational free software for children and putting it on the laptop for Mary.  She has three great grandchildren, the oldest being 7 and the youngest 3.  They spend a lot of time with her.  I have also put a number of games on the laptop for her use.  Pat finally had the physical therapist visit this afternoon and start on the therapy.  This was the same therapist she had before that she really likes.

Judy, I have used AVG Free with good success.  When I had the desktop fixed this week they loaded AVAST free and that seems to be fine and I also like Microsoft Security Essentials.  I also use Malwarebytes, which I run occasionally.  I also like a program called Advanced System Care and I use the free version.  You might want to go to the KimKomando.com website and check on what she recommends.  She is a very reliable expert and I get her newsletters everyday.  I can understand your worry for Heather.

Gord, sorry to hear that Amanda is having bleeding problems.  Surely the hospital will get the situation under control.

I'm sorry, Pat.  Hope the pain goes away quickly.  Not fun, for sure.

I got an email from my book publisher.  They want me to reduce the word count by 25% for an audio version.   :-\  I need to look it over and see if that is possible without ruining it.

They are showing Chavez' coffin being carried through the streets of Caracas, and the MOBS of people crowding around.  They said hundreds of thousands of people filed by the casket yesterday and last night for a quick glimpse of the body.  There is no accounting for such misplaced trust, is there?

I have so much to do today, starting with exercise!  See you all later.

Jeanne I agree with you about spring being around the corner.  We still have feet of snow here not inches. However the roads have started the spring thaw and road heaves are getting bad.  We have to be careful driving the bumps can take out the vehicle suspension.

Heather has written (emailed) her Professors and has their help with taking the 2 weeks off.  There are students willing to help as well, by forwarding her the class notes.   Here is what she posted on Facebook.
QuoteWent to see the college doctor today regarding my concussion and he has said that I need to take 2 weeks (or more) off school, to let my brain heal. He said that I tried to get back to school too soon, and that's the reason for the memory and concentration difficulties ... I'm sad, I feel like crying ... the doc said that if there isn't a marked improvement over the next couple of weeks he will refer me to the Brain Injury Clinic.
This is a girl who doesn't cry for anything.

John will be home earlier today, his miles are down.  However it will be nice to have him home early for a change.

Have a great day everyone.

A genuine Christian is not sinless, but he will not live out all the days of his life in sin and rebellion. If someone professes to be a Christian and yet his or her life is marked by unrelenting disobedience to to God's Word without repentance or divine discipline, it is certain that their profession is not genuine. - Paul Washer

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful morning here.  It was 34 degrees when I went to coffee but sue didn't feel it as the wind isn't blowing and it is Sunday.  After coffee I headed to the Credit Union and to the barber shop.  At 11:30 it is ROMEO's luncheon, which is just up the street from where I live.  We are going to a Johnny's New York Style pizza place.  That should be my going for the day. Pat had her first physical therapy yesterday and last night she had a great night of sleep for 5 hours.  She had slept quite a bit yesterday so it was a bit of a surprise.

Janet, as long as you don't close your browser you should be able to use the back arrow on the address line and get back to what you had typed.

Pat, the way you are holding your hands in your picture looks appropriate for having a tooth pulled.  Sorry it is so painful for you.

Jeanne, is your solution on your windshield still keeping the snow off?

Judy, can see why Heather would be down after talking to the doctor.  Sorry about the miles being down for John but enjoy him being home, as I know you will.

Time to think about leaving to go to ROMEO's.

Now I am really confused.  I woke up this morning thinking it was Saturday...even changed the bed sheets since I didn't want to do that Sunday.  Then after they were in the washer, I remembered it is Friday.  Now Larry is telling me...
Quotethe wind isn't blowing and it is Sunday.
I think your post changed from sunny to Sunday!

It is bright and sunny here today, too!  And 36°.  There is still some white out there but less and less all the time!

I found a pattern to crochet a Potato Chip scarf last night.  Think of chips like Pringles in a row and that's a potato chip scarf.  I used black with strands of metallic in green and gold.  Cute.  Now I am making another Double-thick HotPad/Pot Holder.  Also found a pattern for a Crocodile Purse.  I want to make one with plastic bags...more durable!!  Lots of projects in the future!

Also remember Jacob?  The Senior in high school that hit a tree and was at Shepherd's Center in Atlanta for awhile?  A year ago today he had the accident.  He has progressed some.  He no longer is in a coma.  He is making sounds now and gets excited when he hears music and sees someone he knows.  I haven't seen him yet but Ivalou has.  She says if you didn't know what he has gone through, you would think Jacob could open his mouth and talk, or get up and walk!  He looks the same as before the accident.  One eye doesn't seem to be seeing but other than that, he looks like Jacob a year and a day ago.  Please keep him in your prayers.  God is an awesome God. When you read his Mother's posts on Facebook, it brings tears to your eyes.  What an awesome testimony for God.

Well folks, the liklihood is that I will soon be moving to where my son lives in Rowlett, Texzs!  So don't be surprised if I don't appear here for a bit then come back from there,

Al T least you will be with Family.  That is the important thing.  Moving as we get older is difficult and thinking our children know what's better for us is also difficult.  I will be praying for you as you make this transition.  God bless you richly.  You are missed here when you are away.

Etta Sue I had to go back and check Larry's post as I didn't read "Sunday" I read sunny!  Too funny.  Also would you have a pattern for a soft warm hat for a person with cancer that has lost all her hair.  She is commenting that she has lost the insulation on her head!  She said toques were itchy and nothing was comfortable for long.  Any suggestions?  I ordered her a quilt from Victoria's Quilts.  They are free to cancer patients, one per person.

I had one of my male finches die last night.  I'm glad I have as many as I do however it is good to know He sees a little sparrow (finch) fall.....

John should be home soon so I had better get going. I have laundry to do.

Judy, here is one here...

If you 'search' for 'crocheted chemo hats' there are lots of them on the web.  But this one is very stylish!  I have never heard of that yarn but with an 'H' hook, any 4-ply knitted worsted yarn would do.

Al, my children want me to move to North Carolina to be near (not with) my daughter, and in a milder climate.  I don't really mind the thought of living elsewhere, it's the general upheaval and getting ready that's daunting.

I hope you won't be very long off line.  As Judy says, we really miss you when you're not around.

Yep, Big Daddy Al, that's right, Pardner!  They will make a real Texan out of you!  I hope you enjoy it there, and do come back ASAP!

Thanks, Etta Sue--I couldn't figure out why Larry said it was Sunday!  I thought either he is confused, or I am!  :D

I just finished typing another story, so will get it to the paper for next Thursday's edition.

Time to go fold another load of laundry!

Jeanne the milder climate in winter would be nice!  I understand not wanting to move.....something to consider, could you live with fewer expenses if you did move south?

Thanks Etta Sue.

Al, I wish you well on your move to Rowlett, TX.  I hope the transition will be easy for you.
My step-dtr lives at Rowlett, and she is planning to come to see me next week.  Also her Dtr and GrDtr.  I will be so glad to have them here.

My sister went home from the hospital this week.  She was there 2 weeks.  Her dtrs are taking good care of her.  I told one of them to tell her that I said "it is OK to get spoiled, so let them wait on you!"

We have had 2 warm days, and now bad weather is predicted again.  Will winter ever end?  groan.

I hope all of you are doing OK.  Good night.....

What a difference a day makes!  Today it's sunny and bright and heading for 40 F!!!  My neighbor surprised me yesterday afternoon and cleared both my front and back porches and steps, my driveway, my car and made a path to the propane tanks!  I have to find some way to thank him - maybe a fresh loaf of bread....

Judy, the cost of living would probably be about the same, maybe even a little more, depending on what kind of facility I could find.  It would have to be subsidized, of course, but that would still be a good bit more than my lot rent here.  Some places include electric and heat, with one meal a day, and cable (but internet would be extra).  If I could find a place where I wouldn't need a car that would be a big saving and of course renter's insurance would be less than homeowners.  Online search brings up a few possibilities, but my daughter would have to do the onsite checking them out.  I might decide to give her power of attorney to make arrangements at that end.

Hi everyone.   It is going to be another beautiful day, as was yesterday.  We had another good night of rest and Mary get's a day off from cooking as another lady from our church is bringing our dinner tonight.  We got word yesterday that our oldest church member had died and her funeral will be late Tuesday morning.  I do plan to go as knew both she and her departed husband, who also lived to be 97 years old, since we first came to this area in 1996. I also know her daughter well, as she sings in the choir, and she has lived with them since retiring from teaching probably 10 years ago or so.  Stacey did get notice yesterday that her food stamps had been restarted and that is a very good thing.  She may still have to make a trip to their office but she hasn't gotten a letter to that effect yet. I need to take Mary down to visit with her and to see her myself.  We will be going to Atlanta on Thursday for Pat's doctor's appointment but won't be staying any time as Pat will want to get back home as it is a long trip.  I plan to have a quiet day today.

Etta Sue, I sure hope my word changed as I certainly knew it wasn't Sunday yesterday.  I certainly remember Jacob and briefly meeting his parents at the Shepard's Center.

Al, it will be good that you are close to one of your sons.  Have you ever lived in Texas before?  It is so important to be close to family when we reach that stage in our lives where some added help is needed.  This is becoming a bit of a concern for Pat and I also but would never leave the Atlanta area with Stacey still here.

Jeanne, I have the same thought about what would be involved in moving out of this house but know when the time comes the Lord will provide the way.  It would be good for you to be near your family and I agree with you in that I don't want to ever live with my children but would like to be near them.  Stacey is in subsidized housing through the Atlanta Housing Authority and all she pays in the monthly rent, which includes all the utilities and basic cable.  She is very fortunate.  It would be nice if you could find a place like that and she is right on a bus line.  It couldn't be much handier.

Janet, I hope it is neither of us confused on Sunday?  Sometimes my fingers don't type what I am thinking and finding that I often say a word in place of what I am thinking also.  I hope that is just a part of us getting a little more Mature.

Gord, glad you got that computer virus taken care of.  My SIL is a big part of her great grandchildren's lives and I know she is missing them while she is staying with us.

Near the Cross  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/near-the-cross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"The angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city." Revelation 22:1-2

Words: Fanny Crosby, in Bright Jewels (New York: Biglow & Main, 1869).
Music: W. Howard Doane

Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain
Free to all, a healing stream
Flows from Calvary's mountain.

Refrain

In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me.

Refrain

Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadows o'er me.

Refrain

Near the cross I'll watch and wait
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.

Refrain

Gord, sorry I missed your call.  My fault.  I saw the area code and thought, I don't recognize that code.  So I didn't answer it.  Then I saw a voice mail...solicitors generally don't leave voice mails.  When I heard it was from you, I was sad.  I don't know if I can call you back without cost.  So give me a call again and I will remember that area code could be Gord!

And don't forget to turn up your clocks today.  Well, who wants to get up at 2am and do it?  I have mine already changed so maybe I won't realize that I lost an hour today!

Nothing much going on today except Saturday chores that I don't do other days.

Al, I hope your move to Texas is smooth and you enjoy the Texas atmosphere!

Jeanne, I am thinking that the older I get the less I like the cold weather and the dangers of being out in it.  You will enjoy being in the warmth and being close to family.  I am sure they will help out financially if needed.  You are a frugal person so they will know you aren't spending unnecessarily.

JudyB, did you like that pattern?  Did you check out any others through Google?

It is nice out today here, too.  The grounds look like palomino horses.  Dotted with white.  It is 43° so a lot will melt today.  The snow we had was a very wet snow, really dense and made great snowmen so it will take longer to melt.

Hello everyone from a very cool but sunny coast of Oregon. I've been here every day to read but haven't had much to say.

Al Texas? Wow That's pretty far from McKinleyville and a lot warmer, quite a weather change for you as well. I will be praying for a safe trip and quick sale of your Mobile in MkVille.

Judy and Etta Sue  Do have have a pattern for a knitted or crocheted  hat with ear flaps?  I might be able to knit one if it is an easy pattern. My ears get so col even with my knitted or crocheted hats that I already have in abundance . I do walk everyday that it isn't raining and have been getting in about 5 miles a day. That includes some walking in place and jogging on the mini trampoline.

Here is my Great Grand daughter who lives in South Carolina she is now 5 months old and I am so proud of my grand daughter, who is now off any kind of drugs. she is doing so good.

Etta Sue It is beautiful.  I don't crochet, however Ruth does so she has agreed to do it for me if I supply the yarn.  I have the easy part!.

About weather....I agree it is getting harder to deal with as I get older.  We love spring, summer and autumn here, and I dread the winter.  From Christmas till the end of March can be really rough on the joints!!!

Al:  Wishing you a fast sale on your home as well.  Best to you as you make this change.  You will find the Texas folks friendly - we lived in Plano for nine years.  A loving son wants you closer so that is a wonderful gesture.

We will always be close to our children if they stay in Colorado but you never know if someone has to move for work.  The other thing is our high altitude and if we have any breathing problems (and, Don's lungs are scarred from pnuemonia ) that makes it a difficult place to live.

Marilyn:  Beautiful child.  Such a somber expression - don't you wonder what they are thinking?  Glad for your good news.

Marilyn, you have a precious Gr GrDtr.  What is her name?
I am making a baby quilt for our expected Gr GrSon who will be named Seth. Due date in about a month.

I have changed my bedside clock...maybe I should go to bed accordingly, just in case.  Probably won't matter though, I almost always wake up too early.

I am ready to watch "The Bible" again tomorrow night.  Looking forward to more stories even though there is so much violence portrayed. That was just a fact of life in those days.  The couple who produced the videos were on Huckabee tonight and said they were astounded at the huge numbers of viewers last week.

Good night, everyone....Janice

Wow, it's dark out there!  It was totally dark when I got up at 7am.  Still no sun at 8am.  I have to go to church early since I am running the projector system for the gal that ran it while I was in Florida.  Becca is in Florida today visiting her sister.

JudyB, I thought you crocheted...my mistake.  You can still google 'knitted chemo hats' and there will be many.

Marilyn, I did see one hat with ear flaps but I don't have time to check it out right now.  I think the website I was looking at was www.allfreecrochet.com .  You might check it out yourself.  You have to register but the patterns are all free.

I started a different chemo wrap last night.  It seems a little stiff so we will see.

It is 52°!!!  Spring is coming.  I knew all those robins in my yard knew something!!

Hi everyone.  It is a bit overcast but going to get into the 60's today so will be very nice here.  I am ready for church and will have to leave the house in less than an hour.  Still trying to adjust to daylight saving time.  Other than church nothing much scheduled for today.  Yesterday our good friend came over to play games with Pat and Mary after we had a nice potato soup and salad lunch that Mary had prepared.  This friend brought over a large meal, which we will begin to enjoy for lunch today.  Last evening another church friend brought over vegetable beef soup, muffins and hot peach cobbler with ice cream and we enjoyed that for our supper last night.  Our refrigerator is full of food so we are not going to go hungry.  We just don't want to waste any of it.

Maryilyn, certainly a cute great granddaughter.

Carol, I don't ever intend to return to Colorado as the altitude really played havoc with my heart although I suppose I would adjust if I stayed there permanently.
