Morning Devotional...
Jesus Explains Why He Must Die
John 12:20-36 NLT
Some Greeks who had come to Jerusalem for the Passover celebration paid a visit to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee. They said, "Sir, we want to meet Jesus." Philip told Andrew about it, and they went together to ask Jesus.
Jesus replied, "Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity. Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.
"Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, 'Father, save me from this hour'? But this is the very reason I came! Father, bring glory to your name."
Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying, "I have already brought glory to my name, and I will do so again." When the crowd heard the voice, some thought it was thunder, while others declared an angel had spoken to him.
Then Jesus told them, "The voice was for your benefit, not mine. The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself." He said this to indicate how he was going to die.
The crowd responded, "We understood from Scripture that the Messiah would live forever. How can you say the Son of Man will die? Just who is this Son of Man, anyway?"
Jesus replied, "My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going. Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light."
After saying these things, Jesus went away and was hidden from them.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FStarblinking.gif&hash=27e115f9cd5672d07457eb7160f143473dc479d4)How would you explain to someone why Jesus had to die on the cross?
The crowd could not believe what Jesus was saying about the Messiah. They were waving palm branches for a victorious Messiah who would set up a political, earthly kingdom that would never end.
From their reading of certain Scriptures, they thought the Messiah would never die. (Pss. 89:35-36;100:4; Isa. 9:7). Other passages, however, showed that he would (Isa.53:5-9).
Jesus' words did not mesh with their concept of the Messiah. First he had to suffer and die--then he would one day set up his eternal Kingdom.
What kind of Messiah, or Savior, are you seeking? Beware of trying to force Jesus into your own mold--he won't fit.

I found out today that Barb, my SIL, the one that had a cyst surgically removed from her eyelid...that there were some cancer cells in the cyst. She goes to the surgeon Tuesday to find out what is next. They did tell her before surgery that if there were cancer cells in the lesion, then he would have to go back and remove more tissue from her eyelid. So I assume that will be done and what else we don't know. I guess it all depends on what type of cancer.
I have had a relaxing evening. I talked to Kitty on the phone...they are in St. Louis. She is hoping that Bob says to go home tomorrow so she can go to Photo Guild tomorrow evening but he last said he wanted to spend a day in St. Louis. They were just in St. Louis in August!
I still haven't seen Ivalou but she is home. ~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@~@ (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FDailys%2FMyhst.gif&hash=c2ef5bd725a42718d2ab28e936b13782af4f7bb7)
Thanks. so much, Etta Sue, for the devotional for this week. I can really empathize with everyone in all that is effecting their families and loved ones. God knws what is best -- for all -- and He will see that His will be done in each and every one of us and our loved ones.
I have read and prayed for each one of the posts here and in other forums... God knows our hearts and He will be glorified.
Thank you Lizzy, Liz and Jane for praying for my son. I am very concerned for him and I know that God can use the healing to draw Gilbert to Him. Please remember Sarah to she has MS.
I have an interview this morning, I am interviewing a potential client and checking out the situation in her home.
Good devotional Etta Sue, sometimes I forget to even mention the devotional but I do read them and glean all I can from them.
I am going to be spending more time Studying the word not just reading the word. I am taking notes and writing down addresses and scriptures writing down how to apply all God's promises to my own life and the lives of my family members. How we can be all the God's word says we can be and how we can have all that God's says we can have as heirs to the kingdom and children of the living God.
Gotta go now
Good Morning everyone!
Well, after quite a rainy weekend, today seems a pleasant day.
I'm going to be sorting some boxes today and see if I can maybe start to make order out of chaos! My basement is just truly a place for "STUFF"!!
Thanks Etta Sue for getting us started in our new "Thoughts" for this week.
Hi Jane and Ruth!
Hi Marilyn...
You asked in the other thoughts about whether we saw about Gilbert's ulcer. When I posted in there, that wasn't in your post. I see you added it later. I'm continuing to remember Gilbert in prayer.
Hi everyone. A very busy day here as our grandson is here doing the heavy cleaning and Pat decided she had to take down, wash and rehang all the curtains with him here to help. He is tall so doesn't need a step stool to put the curtains back up. I think the job is about done for another period of time.
I think we found an apartment for our daughter that close to down town, in an area known as Buckhead. I used to work about 3 blocks from it. It is nice and flat, in handicapped accessible and the Bus stop is right in front of the building. It is a high rise building that has elevators so she won't have to deal with steps, which is very important. It isn't cheap but the utilities are included, except water, so it is basically a fixed cost. She will be getting the smallest efficiency apartment available. Just hope it all works out and we can get her moved this weekend.
Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional. Glad there hadn't been a breakin in your home. We have also had some less than satisfactory experiences at O'Charley's, although the last couple of times have been fine. Sorry to hear of your SIL having the cancer cells appear.
Pat, that sounds like a terrible storm you had last night. Hope you didn't lose your power, but guess you didn't since your computer is working.
Marilyn, hope you interview goes well today. I missed the part about Gilbert having an ulcer as well.
Al, I am like you in that I don't set an alarm clock anymore. So far it hasn't been a problem.
Hi to everyone who stops by today.
Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian Friends, something I did not know but I believe it was in 1956 or 1957 the original date was changed from November to October for reason that Rememberance Day and Thanksgiving Day were to close together to reflect on the importance of both dates.
Etta Sue: Thanks for the devotional.
Marilyn: I will be praying for your son and Sue is she his wife - sorry for not remembering.
Larry: I trust that everything works out fine for your daughter as it must be quite a concern.
Etta Sue: Cancer is a terrible word.
Pat: It is hard to get rid of what is not needed or used any more and I will find and empty crack and fill that up as well. Good Luck with the sorting.
Soon we will leaving for our daughters as she is having Thanksgiving dinner with her daughter & friend, mom & dad (us) and aunt.
Ruth it is Sarah and yes she is his wife.
Nice devotional, thanks Etta Sue.
We had a terrible rain all weekend and Misty drove me nuts with going in and out the door. Have to dry and clean her each time as her long fur brings in half the garden, leaves, mud, etc. Today is much nicer and the sky is clear. My daughter is outside working in the garden, and now Squeek is sitting by my door, looking out and meowing like mad.....Oh, CATS! :ticked:
I have made a nice pumpkin pie for dinner tonight and the turkey is cooking upstairs in the kids kitchen. There are a few perks with growing old ;) I am not fond of cooking turkeys....surely taste good tho'...
Have any of you ever read Margaret Truman's book, 'The Presidents House'? I am reading it and find it most interesting. Like her mystery books and have read all she has written. This is an especially nice book as it looks at the White House from an insiders perspective. Now why does a Canadian find that interesting?? I guess most of us in Canada know more about your country than you do about ours. (For those who live in US) Probably because it makes for more interesting reading.
Went to the Sally Ann with my daughter to look for records, CD and tapes. Found a nice SMOKEY MOUNTAIN HYMNS tape done by hand crafted instruments...Hammered Dulcimer, Fiddle, Auto Harp, Dobro, etc. I love this type of music...guess I should have kept on with my Banjo. Once it gets in the blood, never seems to go away. Kind of like Art work and writing.
Think I will go for a walk now, before rain sets in again. It is predicted for most of the week and best take advantage of the day. Hope everyone has a nice week and Happy Thanksgiving to all us in Canada. :)
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Thanks for that Ruth! I didn't know about the date of Thanksgiving being changed.
I looked it up in Wikepedia and found this:
After World War I, both Armistice Day and Thanksgiving were celebrated on the Monday of the week in which November 11 occurred. Ten years later, in 1931, the two days became separate holidays, and Armistice Day was renamed Remembrance Day.
On January 31, 1957, the Canadian Parliament proclaimed:
"A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed ... to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October.
I'm not certain, but some of my email addresses aren't working, and now I've needed to log in again to both SeniorNet and Christian Photographers! Something odd must be going on with my computer. And, no, I didn't delete any cookies. ???
At any rate, it's good to hear all of y'all again.
Etta Sue, thanks for the good devotional, and I'm really sorry to hear about your sister in law's difficulties. Will be supporting her with my prayers.
Also, Gilbert and Sarah, and Larry's daughter and so many other requests.
Y'all have a good rest of the day.
Hi! We are home, got here around 6 this evening. I haven't read all the posts I missed, but wanted to stop in and say "howdy!."
Howdy, Janet!
It was so nice to be able to chat with you while you were on the bus on this trip. I loved that.
Talk to you soon. Get a good night's sleep.
Certainly glad, Larry, to hear of your finding an apartment with all those characteristics for your daughter. I pray she'll be blessed greatly there.
WELCOME BACK JANET!! I said it in the other forum, but I'll say it here too.
Supposed to rain today and tonight. You can figure on the same storm coming you way in the midwest and east in 2 to 4 days.
Good Morning It is supposed to rain today according to the weatherman and the air smells like rain. I am working two jobs today. Beginning next week I will work for the new couple on Mondays. that will leave all but two hours on Tuesday morning and Wednesdays off during the week.
I am holding Wednesday in case I need to work another day with Cliff. It also gives me all day to complete my Bible study research for the lesson.
This morning I reinstalled Compton's interactive NIV Bible into my computer, so I won't have to have a pile of books to research because it has all the commentaries in the program, much more that I have in books.
Welcome home Janet glad you enjoyed your trip.
Yesterday I finished making my Glory Ring, prayed over it and anointed it with anointing oil. Now I will take it to church and wait on the Holy Spirit to give me the dance and arm movements I am to use during worship. You can learn more about Glory Rings HERE (http://www.hisgloryringministries.com/)

Thanks to all who commented about the devotion this week.
Marilyn ~ I have a New Living Translation Life Application Study Bible. It has lots of notes throughout the Bible on how to apply verses to your life. The devotions I post comes from the same study Bible but it is a different book.
And I would like to say that when y'all have a prayer request, I keep you in my prayers. I may not mention it but I do. Prayers are still for Gilbert, Sarah, Al, Ruth Ann, Janet, Liz, Pat, Ruth, Sue, JudyB, Larry, Jane, Nita, Colin, Samantha, Jeannine, Michael...well, all my CP friends and all their families.
Today I have nothing I have to do but I think I am going to deep clean my living room...that means move the furniture around. If I have to move the furniture out to sweep, I might as well move it to a different spot! And Kitty and Bob gets home today. Also Barb, my SIL, goes to the surgeon at 12:30pm to find out what the next step is.
Photo Guild was great last night. We can submit up to 4 photos by email to a member who put them in his laptop and are then shown on the overhead, or slides projected on the overhead or printed and matted photos. We had two couples that just got back from Utah and Arizona. Beautiful shots...full of color! I submitted 3 pictures that I made 3-D. Now they want me to show them how I did them. But I use PaintShop Pro and they use PhotoShop mostly!! Both are fruit but one is apples and one is oranges. (^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(

Today hasn't started out well! Amanda went out at 8 AM to leave for work. Sometime between when her dad left at 5.30 AM and 8 AM, her car was broken into and the window smashed, hood damaged, $400 + IPod stolen, etc. Fortunately her camera and other valued things were not in the car. This was right in front of the house, in daylight!!!! ICBC is coming to tow the car away, pictures have been taken for the RCMP....tho' that won't help much. Seems they know the teenage gang doing a rash of break-ins and haven't stopped anything. Of course, it could have been the workers from the construction site, seems many are ex-convicts! This once lovely, safe area, is now only a dim memory..... :ticked:
It seems to be one crisis after another these days. On the weekend, there was another terrible accident at the Frayne intersection. (where Wendy was almost killed) In the summer, two of the neighors were horrible injured and won't ever fully recover. Now another one, and it seems to be even worse. Do not have the details yet. The SUV was folded like an accordian...everyone critical, could not airlift to Vanc. because of fog in Vanc. There needs to be a turning light and a camera installed there...everyone drives like they are insane and go thro red lights all the time....I am simply too old for this world now. Praying for people has become a daylong project....
Now that is off my mind, welcome back Janet. I hope you had a good rest.
Like you, Etta Sue, I pray for people, don't often mention details. Guess that comes from the old Baptist background. Doesn't much matter, since we are all on the same page.
Time to go and hope the day gets better. My daughter just came down and told me that the reason the hood was damaged, is because they have been stealing the cars and burning them.
God Bless, :)
Liz
Good afternoon, all.
I'm so thankful for this site. I love the weekly devotions ... always great to start off that way.
As I read the posts here I was hit with one thought -- we are all so blessed to know that, regardless of circumstances or our health or our isolation, we can pray to our Father. To have His hope and know that He still is in control, even when it doesn't appear that way, is something that can bring us peace.
It seems that just about everywhere we look, regardless of where each of us lives, and in spite of the challenges facing friends and loved ones, we have an anchor to cling to ... One Who hears our whispered prayers and knows the heaviness of our hearts.
May His presence be with each of you.
Changing gears here -- I'm not sure where to post this question. It's technical dealing with photo editing software. I want to be able to take black and white photos and make certain images within these photos color ... like a flower, or a dress ... I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. I currently use Microsoft Digital Image Suite and can't seem to figure out how to do it. I don't know a thing about applying layers ... I more of a point and click kind of gal. Any suggestions, even different software to use, would be so appreciated.
My husband and I went to one of our State Parks here and I was able to take some lovely photos of flowers and desert plants. While we had a wonderfully "Autumn" weekend, the temps are climbing back into the 80s today. Still, I won't complain. I love the high desert.
Blessings, Francine
Etta Sue, regarding the question, how do you explain to someone why Jesus had to die on the cross---we had free time at the Museum of Art in Philadelphia, and my favorite room was the one with the Old Masters. One painting must have been 6 ft x 8 ft; and depicted Jesus, after the crucifixion, showing the wounds in His hands, feet and side. I was visiting with the woman on duty in that room, and she said "You'd be surprised how often I'm asked to explain this painting, especially to foreign students. They have never heard of Jesus---they say, "Who is Jesus?" " I said, "That gives you the opportunity to witness to them! How wonderful!" And she agreed. Praise God for faithful witnesses, and I'm so thankful she hasn't been silenced in the name of (ugh) political correctness.
Busy day today--finishing the laundry, therapy, errands to bank, to PO to pick up the mail, to chiropractor, to school to eat with my Youth Friend, now have ironing to do, and must go and see Beth, too. Plus sorting through the mail, getting the phone messages, booking and re-booking doctor appointments, etc. Whew!
Tomorrow I go to Salina for the Senior Spelling Bee, it is Thursday and we come home that night. Whew!
Our doggie and two cats missed us and were really happy to see us last evening. :)
Liz, I have noticed that most people who do art work also love music. I'm so sorry about your lovely neighborhood "going to pot." That is happening so many places.
We were close to President Bush the other day, didn't see him, of course. He was in Lancaster to speak to the families of those little Amish girls who were murdered so heartlessly in the one room schoolhouse one year ago. We were told the Amish had to tear down the school in the dark of night because souvenir hunters and greedy people were stealing bits and pieces, whatever they could tear loose, to sell on eBay. How horrible! So they decided to remove all temptation and put a stop to it.
I need to get busy again, don't want this to become a short novel! Hello to all of you, and thank you so much for the warm welcome home!
ES Loved the devotion. Your post reminds me of something on the Gaither Homecoming that is said. "Thisgs will get worse, or better or stay about the same." Your post reminds me of that saying.
Janet Welcome Home.
Liz What an ordeal. Too bad there aren't surveillance cameras in the area. And traffic cops at the intersection. It sometimes seems the police do less and aless and expect more and more.
Francine Thank you for your thoughts. You are so right about always being able to turn to our Father. Now with the question I have no clue how to do that . I told my daughter about your question and she may be able to help.
It has been wet, wet, wet, for the last 5 days. Not cold just wet and a penetrating dampness. I am looking forward to dryer weather. We should have had this in the early summer then the crops wouldn't have been burned in the ground.
Got to go, it is late and I have supper to prepare. "See" you all tomorrow.
JudyB
It's me again! I thought I'd post again tonight in case I don't have time to do it tomorrow before I leave.
"Things will get worse, or better or stay about the same???" That sounds like a DUH to me. Guess you have to hear it in context. ;)
Judy, thanks for the welcome home, and send some of that wet stuff down here! One sometimes wonders why things can't even out a bit in the weather department. North central Kansas has had flooding and way too much rain all summer, while we have dried up down here. My youngest daughter and her husband have been trying so hard to establish a stand of grass on the hill where they live, and have had it washed out over and over.
Beth said she really missed me! Nice to be missed.
I am totally disgusted with our police. They didn't even bother to come and see the car or take fingerprints. If it was someone from the Construction site who has a record, that would have answered one question. If it is the teenagers, they must have some of their prints on file...that would have solved that question. ICBC didn't come with their flatbed truck to take the vehicle to Victoria...so another day sitting waiting for them to come.......Now we are having a huge windstorm with rain tonight, so the car sits covered in plastic bags! To bad our cops can't do their work instead of riding around on bikes and shaving heads for charity. I guess solving crime is too much like work!
This has not been a good day.
God Bless,
Liz
I'm so sorry about all of this, Liz. What do the police think they are hired to do?? This is just crazy. ((((((hugs))))))
We were greeted with rain this morning but at least it was much better than the very hot and sticky weekend.
Judy: The country from North Bay south to Lake Ontario got very little rain while the country from North Bay north got plenty of rain and had lots of green grass and beautiful crops.
Janet: Welcome home.
Pat: Thanks for looking up the spec. on Thanksgiving and Remembrance Day it is amazing how the government at the time acknowledged Almighty God but now they would like to put and keep Him under the rug.
It is good that the phone rings but this evening it seems to be going constant. Have a great evening Ruth
Francine, we'll see if we can get you a tutorial on doing just what you are talking about. Maybe there's one on Photography Cafe?
Liz, that is just terrible. I am so sorry that this happened. Can't believe that the police would act this way.
Ruth, lots of rain the last few days here in Guelph. Things are really green. But it's been awfully hot as well.
Janet, sorry you're off again so quickly. You just got home!!!
I'm off for an early night.
Talk soon, everyone.
Hi everyone. It is past my bedtime but thought I would drop in for a moment. Janet, great to see you home. Liz, it sounds like you have had quite an ordeal. I think the police problem exists everywhere and has for a long time with regard to burglary as it doesn't see to get much attention.
This has really been a busy day but the apartment deal is signed and our daughter will be able to move into it on Saturday. I have reserved a cargo van for one day in which to move her stuff rather than try to make several trips in a pickup truck. I think it will work much better and everything will be protected and secure. Pat and I saw the apartment, which is very small, but very adequate for one person. It is an efficiency with a large room, a small room they call a closet but big enough for her computer desk and plenty of closet space. It has a nice size bathroom and a little kitchen that appears to be very compact with a 4 burner gas stove and a nice size refrigerator. All the utilities, except water, are included in the rental amount so we are dealing with a fixed cost. It is nice and flat outside and a very reasonable distance from the major street in Atlanta with good access to the subway and buses. We are thankful to God for leading us to it. My grandson will come on Friday night to help load her things here at the house and then we will stop by on Saturday morning and get the things she has where she is staying. She has no furniture there but her clothes and miscellaneous things.
We actually had a nice rain here this afternoon. Don't know how much but certainly apprecaited.
Well my eyes are shutting so better stop for tonight.
Ruth We had llittle rain. Even people I know in Redbridge got very little rain and their crops died in the field. It sure has been a crazy year.
Today has been piano lessons for the girls. Kassie has a natural ear for when a sound is wrong, as a result she finds it wasier than Elizabeth. Elizabeth loves music. she had a stint at playing the clarinet in school. She now wants to play clarinet again, wich means buying her one. At $250 that is something she will have to wait for, in the meantime she will know her notes and the theory so when she comes to learning the instrument, it will be somewhat easier. KAssie is more interested in singing.
Even though it was a shorter day, we gor a lot accomplished. Usually on piano days we have cadets in the afternoon, so the day is reallt choppy. Today yhere was no cadets so we were able to dig right in.
Well that has been my day, I am off to bed. Good night everyone and God bless.
Francine that question about mutation of a digital image to include both black & white & colour elements will depend on your editing package. I use LivePix which is an old program but allows me to manipulate very easily. Whatever pack you do use you probably would need to use a colour photo superimpose another copy on top and change that one to black and white (maybe by reducing the colour or by direct change to b&w - which some packs have a widget for) then its a case of erasing the areas on the b&w where you want to see the colour (or vice versa).
here's one I did in a matter of moments on LivePix:

So that is where all your grey matter is Keith...nowhere near your head I see! We crossed turkeys with banjoes over here so we could have self plucking ones for Christmas! :uglystupid: Have to get you back some way for taking a hatchet to my poems.
Hi everyone else.
Good Morning we had no Internet in all of Humboldt county yesterday. I did post in a couple places on SN before I went to bed. It rained pretty good here in the afternoon and evening, the dogs decided thy didn't want to go out.
I am off today So will be at home except for Curves and Tai Chi this morning.
Liz I'm so disgusted at your police problem and the problems happening around you with all the construction going on.
Larry glad to hear you found an apartment for Stacey.
Keith nice to meet ALL of you. ;D
Must get ready to go to Curves now C u all later.
Good Morning everyone.
Colin you are a really a hoot.
That explaination to Francine even I could understand. Thank you
Oh how I dread winter. The girls are excited to be able to get into the X country skiing and sledding. Elizabeth is getting a border collie and is looking forward to teaching him. I am so glad we live in the country. There is so much area for them to run on. Also behind us is Crown Land, which is land owned by the government. We can go on it as we please. So nice.
If Any of you can try tune in cjtk.com, llisten to the wonderful Christian music in the afternoon.
Anyway I must close off dial up you know. Have a good day and hope it isn't too sloppy with rain. I continue to pray for the needs here.

Francine ~ Does your software have paint brush tools and colors? If so, simply select your paint brush and select the color you want, and paint! And if you can change the opacity, make it about 50% and you will be able to see through the color to see the black and white detail. Easy!
Well, I worked my tail off yesterday cleaning the house, moving furniture and even used the leaf blower outside to clear leaves off my deck and river rocks. Whew! I was sure ready for bed last night.
I got this email from Kaye Don yesterday about Barb's eyelid...QuoteWe saw the surgeon today and the report was that there were cancer cells on each side of the tissue that were the kind that might metastasize and that it is needed to go back and remove more tissue and test it to see if this time the edges are clear. He is an Eyelid and Plastic surgeon. He said that he had a patient who had to have three surgeries to get it all. Surgery is to be Nov. 1st and go from there. We will get this taken care of before we go south.
Thanks for your prayers.
Question. If it is the type of cancer that metastasizes, then how do they know if this was the original area or if this tissue was metastasized from another area? Seems that they should do some kind of scan. Barb is the one that suffers from depression. This could give her reason to give up OR she may not think anything about it!
Kitty and Bob got home yesterday. But she is on a bus trip to Brown County, Indiana, today. Brown County is a painters paradise with all the trees and fall foliage which I don't think is here yet. Also the little town of Nashville has all sorts of stores from fine art to crafty things to ice cream to sugar-cured hams! A tourist trap, really!
The radio just said today the high is to be 59°...the coolest so far for the season. BUT not heat on...no a/c on! I love it!! @_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@_@

Hi everyone. I have had a much more relaxed day today after a good nights sleep. It has been a beautiful day here and I found out we had over an inch of rain yesterday afternoon, which was very welcome.
This morning was Bible study and we had a small group this morning, which is rather unusual. However, several of our folks are out-of-town. We will miss for the next couple of weeks as we plan to leave next Wednesday morning to go to Missouri. Since we no longer have a pet or anyone at home to worry about we have not set a return date and will stay as long as we want to. However, after a few days the idea of getting home always sounds pretty good.
Things are coming together on the apartment front. We have gathered up some extra dishes and things that our daughter will need as there is no point in buying them and then she can get her own in the future as she is able.
Tonight is choir practice.
It's good to hear, Larry, that you got some rain. Thanks be to our Father. We always need to be aware Who is sovereign over all things, inclluding rain, sun, snow, etc. Oh thank You, Father, for watering and refreshing Your earth and our home.
Hi, friends, It's been a very relaxed evening. No huge deadlines at work today and so I was able to spend a bit more time on getting all my personal stuff done relating to that suspected identity theft. Only 3 more companies to contact, then it will be time for a bit of a break.
The weather's getting cooler here in Nashville - supposed to go down into the 40's tonight, which means, of course, that Grandma Ruth Ann will need a heavy sweater or a jacket tomorrow morning for certain. ;)
Well, must go, need to rest a bit, since last night ws not a restful night.
It's so good to hear from each of you.
Etta Sue, it must really be distressing to all of you about the eyelid situation. My goodness, I need you to spend a bit of time at my house!!!! - ummmmm, on second thought, you'd never speak to me again, so I'd better just get busy and get my OWN house cleaned!
Y'all have a good evening.
Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann I am sure you are thankfur for more time to relax. Have a good night sister.
Larry Yes rain is good. We have had ao little since the spring. The more rain we get now the less snow we will get this winter. The farmers always want a good amount of snow. Me I would rather have the rain, and no snow. One thing snow does in insulate the plants that come up. Oh well we will see what happens
It looks like the Liberals are in again. Not a good thing in my eyes. Four more years to go with them.
I am tired tonight. Heading to bed.
God Bless JudyB
Hellllloooooooo all! Sorry to have been so scarce. We've just been really, really busy.
Our weather has been bizarre here. Last Saturday, we spent the day in and around Pigeon Forge, TN, and the temperature was in the low 90s. That's high for summer temps. When the sun went down, it only got down to the mid70s. :/ It is starting to cool down now, but just barely. The heat, coupled with a severe lack of rain has made for some ugly looking brown lawns around. :( We have had some light rain today and yesterday, so that helps. Unfortunately, a lot of people around here still have spring/well water sources, so there have been several that went dry, and they have had to drill another one or try to go deeper.
Praying for all of you!
So, it is off again. Take care everyone, and I'll try to be a bit more diligent in posting.

Karma ~ My son, Tony, left Gatlinburg last Saturday morning on his cycle. He had vacation last week but his wife didn't so he went to Gatlinburg on his Harley by himself. Said it was nice but very different to be by himself.
Today is 60 Chix. I only know of three positive attendees. Sometimes that is aggravating. I asked them to let me know if they are coming....some don't let me know and others say yes and don't show. We never know how many to say will be there when we get there. Oh, well! At least it is a Mexican restaurant.
Gotta run!^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+

Just this past weekend it was so very hot and today it feels like it is brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr cold. We have been getting enough rain that our brown lawns are green or almost green Thanks to God for that.
We had something unpleasant to cope with again but God is good all is getting better now, an ultra sound and no blood clots.
Mel & I have been having issues with sleeping for the most part we are getting older or is it old, anyway we went out last evening and purchased memory foam to put on the bed and it sure seemed to make a huge difference money well spent.
I must have lunch and make a phone call. Ruth
I'm back home again! The spelling bee was a fun and different experience, and I did really well. My only mistake was an oversight, on a word I know very well. The problem was, we had to PRINT and I never even learned to print---we learned cursive in first grade. So I have to really work to print, and it looks bad. The embarrassing thing is, I was making a list of all the words, and I spelled the word correctly (in cursive!) on that list. Oh, well, there's always next year, and I will know what to expect. Had no idea this time!
It is so funny---we had a police escort out of town yesterday as we left for the spelling bee! A police car ahead of us and one behind, with lights flashing and intermittent sirens. We laughed so hard, at all the cars pulling off the side of the highway!! I said they think it is a funeral procession; and then think, boy, that person sure didn't have many friends, and the ones they had are LAUGHING!!
I got to spend some time last evening with my youngest daughter who lives in the town where the bee was, and her response to that was, "Only in small town America!" ;D
On a much more somber note---on the evening news they said the mother of the baby who died a month ago in a hot car here has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. I cried when I heard that.
And another sad thing, though not to compare to the above--we lost our sweet little dog, Cookie, today. And on Darrel's birthday, too. :'(
I need to make a couple of phone calls. Later!
Oh Janet it is so sad both for te baby's mothere and about Cookie.
Tell Darrell Happy Birthday.
Good morning all,
Sorry to have been so very scarce, I have been reading when I can and praying for all needs mentioned here. It has been a very hectic and stressful week.
My dad had a heartattack on monday, went to the hospital ER and got sent over to another hospital to the catheter lab and they put a stent in. It was a very serious blockage. He has other blockages but they are going to try to tackle them with medications. He came home yesterday.
Michael had a neurology appointment for his seizures and they upped his medication due to growing. He is getting to be a big boy. <3 :clobber: He has had 3 seizures of the petit maul type and numerous absence ones as well, hence the appointment.
I saw another orthopedist and have severe osteoarthritis in my knees, so will start physical therapy for that. :clobber: Not even done with pt for my shoulder which also has osteoarthritis. :-[
So it has been very busy and stressful. But God is good and He is always with us no matter what. And it is wonderful to know we can rest in His loving embrace and trust in Him.
Have a God filled and blessed day!
><>Jeannine
Good morning all!!
Just running through quickly before we start our school day. :)
Hope everyone has a restful, peaceful day and are getting ready for a spectacular weekend!

Yesterday we had so much fun at 60 Chix. There was only 5 of us plus a daughter of one of them. So it was nice and cozy and everyone could hear everyone. And it was at a Mexican restaurant so the food was delicious!
In a few minutes I am leaving to go to the Dentist for a check up. Ivalou is going with me so that means eating lunch out somewhere. It is cloudy, chilly and gloomy here so we might as well go somewhere instead of sitting at home in the gloom! + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Good morning! Even though I feel invisible/inaudible today, I hope you are all having a great day!
Marilyn, thanks.
Jeannine, sorry your life is so stress filled. Those times seem to come to us from time to time, but they come to pass......and I hope yours passes quickly.
Etta Sue, sounds like a fun time out with the gals.
Good Morning everyone. I thought I better post before going to work. On Thursdays and Fridays evenings I am too busy and tired when I get home to do much posting. I would like to get the dogs out for their walks on those days but that hasn't happened either.
My patient has begun to have delusions some are hilarious, Hospsice told us to just go along with whatever he says. The tumor is an aggressive one and it is putting a lot of pressure on his brain. The Hospice nurse came yesterday and inserted a catheter. She talked to him about me and It feels so good to know you are doing a good job caring for some one's family member. She suggested that I take the two week course to become a Hospice aid ( they need aids badly) but that course is not offered in this area. They are trying to have one scheduled at the Community College but no such luck so far. I will gladly take the course when it does get offered.
Yesterday I led him to the Lord through prayer and we talked about sin etc. He already believed but I told him that I wanted to make sure he was going to heaven and not to hell.
Janet I know how empty it feels when you lose a beloved pet. You are in my prayers Sister.
Etta Sue you lunch sounds like so much fun. Sunday night after prayer meeting we went to a restaurant for coffee. I had three cheese blintzes, We just sat around and talked for a over an hour and had a lot of laughs and shared what the Lord has been speaking to each one of us. Very enjoyable evening. There were 7 adults and the Pastor's two kids.
Hi Jeannine and Karma good to see you both here today. Keeping your family in my prayers Jeannine.
TTYL
Janet: It is wonderful that you shared your spelling bee experience. Better luck next year.
Jeannie: Sorry about the stress you have at the present time.
Marilyn: You are doing a wonderful job. I was talking with a fellow on the phone and he is not well enough to work and he is only young. But never does he have a sad face.
As for me I got a phone call asking me to check my e-mail as it is work related. So had better be on my way. Oh yes our furnace got turned on we needed some warmth in the house.
Ruth
Cool and cloudy today, no rain, so that's a good thing....do not have to clean Misty's paws when she comes inside!
Sorry about your dog, Janet. It hurts to lose a pet.
At 2:30 A.M. my daughter woke up and heard a car outside. Went and looked, saw a small car driving slowly around, turn and stop behind my SIL's van. They must have seen her at the window, took off...she could not get the lic. number. We think they came back to try their luck with his van!!! ICBC finally towed her car into town to repair, goodness knows when it will come back. All the people on the st. are now on alert and keeping lights on outside, etc. Don't know how much that is going to help tho'....
I have work to do, so must get started. Will pray for all the needs. Oh, here is a little something:
What common 9 letter English word can have a letter removed and each time still form a word?
STARTLING
Try it...remove starting with l. (starting) t (staring) a (string) r (sting) t (sing)
g (sin) s (in) n (I)......well, I thought it was interesting... ;)
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Liz, that's cool! I liked it.
I was something of a minor celebrity today at the senior center. I was really surprised how many wanted to see the list of words that were used at the spelling bee. Seems they were much more interested than those in here.......well, to each his own! I appreciated those who did comment. It was a fun time, anyway.
Pat and I are going to the community theater play and dinner tonight. I'd better get ready.
Thanks, Liz. Yes, we will miss Cookie. She was a really sweet dog. :'(
Hi everyone.
This is really a busy week for me as am trying to orchestrate all that is involved with getting our daughter moved tomorrow morning. We have things ready here and I have the cargo van sitting in the drive. Our grandson is suppose to come by this evening and load things in it and then go with me in the morning. She can't get possession until 10 am when the office opens at the apartment complex and we can sign the lease, pay the rent and get the keys. Fortunately we didn't have to deal with utilities as they are already provided. That cut out a lot of hassle.
I have to have the cargo van back out here and turned in by noon tomorrow or I will be charged for all weekend. There really isn't that much as only a bed, small computer desk, a couple of small book shelves and a recliner, where the back comes off. There are some smaller things and then we have to pick up several boxes and big plastic bags of her things where she has been living. It should all work out but very stressful.
Janet, I don't understand about your spelling bee. Were you the moderator or a contestant? If you were a contestant what words did you have to spell? Sorry about your dog. We become very attached to our pets.
Karmat and Jeannine, nice to see your postings. Jeannine, sorry to read of additional medical problems both for your son and yourself.
Liz, it sounds like these thugs are terrorizing your neighborhood.
Ruth, sounds like it is getting chilly up your way.
Marilyn, I hope you are able to take the hospice training.
My sister-in-law just started working at hospice in Missouri in the office on a part-time basis three days a week. Her church just did something very wonderful for her. She had over a thousand dollar car repair and was behind on some other bills. The church members came to her and said not to say a word as they were paying off these bills in full. She feels really blessed today.
Etta Sue, nice to see you had such a good time with your 60 Chix group. It is always fun to be out with friends and an added pleasure to get the Mexican food.
If I have missed anyone please accept my apology. Since I started this our grandson was here and now the cargo van is loaded and he just left as has to be a work at 9 pm. He is coming back after work in the morning and I will take him to breakfast and he will go with me to get her moved into her apartment.
Time to call it a night.
Good morning I thought surely soemone would have been here by now.
Janet I would like to know what words were inthe spelling contest, too. I wonder How I woul do in a spelling bee.
Not much new here today so far. I have already had my shower and shampooed my hair. At 10 am I am meeting someone for breakfast, I already know that I am ordering biscuits and gravy. the I am going over the the AOG church in arcata to participate in 48 hrs of prayer with my friend Eleanor. I have my sheets int he dryer now so all my laundry for the week is done except for my scrubs.
Larry good to hear that you bow have Stacey settled into her new apartment.
Liz so sorry to hear your lovely neighborhood is going to the thugs.
I delivered the Baby quilt to my neighbor last night, she was so pleased as she had not received any blankets at her shower.
Hi Ruth where is Sue these days?
More later
My daughter had to drive Amanda to work, so we got our groceries, I helped carry them upstairs, now finished and have put away my supplies. Had to give Misty a hug in between and bring her in for a snack...her, not me! Amanda will get her car back on Monday.....thank goodness!
Janet, I don't have to know the words for your Spelling Bee, know that I would no longer remember how to spell them....once was good at it. Like all good things, that seems to be fading. So go for it gal, do all you can now while the going is good
Well, our neighborhood isn't exactly going to the dogs...or thugs. Seems to be an increase in crime everywhere and they are exercising random acts of crime..rather than kindness. All the building has brought in lots of people with scads of money and so we are no longer invisible, so to speak. Further over, one couple had three drunks trying to steal furniture from their boat. She told them to put in back, they did and fled, she called the police. They said nothing could be done as they left...asked if they had a No Trespass sign on the property. Of course they didn't, how nuts.....without that, they are fair game! Think we have indeed become a lawless land! ::)
Larry, I hope that your daughter realizes how wonderful her parents are. Do hope her health improves and she will be happy in her new home.
Won't even try to remember everything posted. Simply hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend. God is good and all things happen for a reason. We simply have to remember that..... :)
Scripture: "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and
there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither
shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away
(Revelation 21:4 KJV)."
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Thanks be to our God - it's not just "pie in the sky, by and by." It's reality - there's coming a day, Liz, when there won't be any thugs in any neighborhood. Everyone will instead be helping everyone else, working together, and praising our Lord!
Larry, I was a contestant. The pronouncer gave us 50 words, we had to PRINT them, these were collected, there were 15 who had perfect scores and these were the finalists. It was conducted basically like the kids' spelling bees are, with only a few exceptions, like the written words to start. I knew how to spell all of the first 50 and most of the finalist ones, plus the spell-down ones. So I was satisfied with my performance, with the exception of the boo-boo in printing. >:( Next year I will TRIPLE check before handing in my paper! ;)
Today Winona and I traveled about 180 miles for our monthly painting meeting. We did grapes on a wood plaque that had Elmer's wood filler troweled on, making it look like plaster. They turned out really pretty, I thought.
I have tomorrow off, then long trips three days in a row for doctor visits--first Beth on Monday, then me on Tuesday, then Darrel on Wednesday. Whew. I'm tired. :-\
I must call Beth and tell her about Cookie before she hears it from someone else. I know she will take it hard, so I've been procrastinating.
Larry, it's good to know you have Stacey moved, and hope you didn't over exert in the process. You're a wonderful Dad. Glad the grandson was able to help you. (Or was it your son? I must go back and check.)
See you later!

Talking about the Spelling Bee made me think about 'Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader' the other night. Jeff said the question, 'How many consonants in the word, vowel?' It was spoken, not written for the contestant. So the woman said, 'I will have to spell it out. V is a consonant so that is one. O is a vowel. U is a vowel. L is a consonant so there are two consonants in the word voul!!' He even asked if she was sure about the spelling. And she said she knew she was right. Vowel is spelled v-o-u-l!!! I sometimes wish I was a contestant on there.
I got my teeth cleaned yesterday. It was Ivalou's turn to choose where to eat...an even day. She had Chinese the day before so going to the Chinese place on that corner was out. I had Mexican the day before so the Mexican restaurant down there was out. There was a Bar and Grill so we went in there. There was only 3 men and the lady bartender...dark, smelled like cigarettes but it was a bar and grill so grill means food. So we sat down. The lady came and I ordered a hamburger with chips. Ivalou got au jus with chips. Well, I will have to say that was the bestest hamburger I have eaten in a long, long time. Superb!
After that we went to Charlene's. I know I haven't been to visit Charlene on a work day in over 6 years...since I moved up there. She had all seven kids down for naps...she babysits. So we had a good visit for about 2 hours. Even if the kids wake up, they stay where they are so they don't wake up others.
Then Ivalou and I went to the Hallmark store. I had a 20% off coupon. I got a pair of fuzzy house slippers. Really nice and comfy.
Then home.
Today, I glued Mom's jewelry on a wooden tray to hang and display her jewelry. I got it all done. Nothing like procrastinating, is there? Been aiming to do this since she passed away in 2002. But I like it. It's done now. I had Ivalou come over and she took some pieces home. I kept some. There was even some American Motorcycle Association pins with the dates 1943, 1954 and such. I called Tony to see if he would like them. Even earrings for Charlene. Of course, Tony said 'Yes!'
Now I am resting. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Hi everyone. Today was the actual move in day when we signed the lease and got the keys. I won't go into details since everything worked like clockwork and I was able to return the rental van before noon. My poor grandson had come over last evening and loaded the van, then worked all night and came back and went with me and did the unloading. We did have help from two of our daughter's former roommates. I just supervised and only picked up small bags or lamps so certainly didn't over exert. However, the stress of the last few days is now gone and I am tired today, even after a good nap this afternoon. I will be turning in shortly.
Janet, thanks for the info on the spelling bee. While I am a good speller, I wouldn't want to enter a spelling bee. I watched the kids this year and no way could I have spelled the words they had to tackle.
A lot of posts since I was here. I have read them all but won't comment because if I do I am sure to miss someone.
I had an incident today that has turned out so funny. Yesterday I got another member for the family...a beautiful intelligent dog. Well today he was exploring and we heard a "THUMP" I looked at the girls as asked what in the world it was. They went in the direction and here this fellow had seen a jar of scented wax (melted) on my desk and wanted to find out what it was......Now the beautiful white is sprinkled in red...wax. I don't know how to get it out, on skin it peels off easily, but on fur it doesn't. So if anyone has any ideas I would sure appreciate them.
We have had 2 days where it hasn't rainned all day. Just part of the day. Mother was able to go out to walk both days and came in with a beautiful rosiness to her cheeks. It looks so good on her.
We have only had the furnace going twice, just to take the dampness out of the air. Between cooking and a little ceramic heater we haven't needed the furnace on. We do have wood, and Jon and Heather are coming next weekend to help get more in. There are many downed trees (from storms) that are dry, John will go after these first.
Tomorrow is the Lord's day so I pray everyone has a good day in the Lord's house, whether that is watching a good message on TV or going out to fellowship with others in His house. May God richly bless all of you with a good rest.
If it is a long haired dog you might be able to place a cloth under the waxed hair, and use a hair dryer to heat it enough so it would absorb into the cloth. Someone suggested cold to make the wax brittle.
:D Hi to all. I have had a look over the postings for the last while and I will not comment on them. But I do see that we have some new people on the posts and I welcome you.
For those of you who have been having sickness I hope that you are feeling better and getting stronger.
Well since I last was on the sight my wife and I have been very busy with many different things. Our granddaughter is so cute and she has been keeping us busy and they live approx. 2 hours away from us so it's a lot of driving when we go and we stay overnight.
Our second grandchild is due any time so we are excited but we may not be around as we leave to go to Florida on Thursday the 18th. and we don't come back till the 3rd. of November so we are also upset about not being here for our daughter's first baby. But when we planned our trip we did not know about any babies coming.
We feel very priviledge as my sister-in-law is taking us on a cruise so we are excited could you please pray for my wife that she will be able to have a good time as she still has problems with her back and we are praying that this will not make her back worse.
Well it is late and I do wont to get up for church so I will signof for now and may the Lord give you a wonderful day in his house today.God bless to all. Gord. :coffee:
Good morning everyone. It is truly a beautiful, sunny, and cool morning here in Georgia. We have a relatively quiet day planned. We will attend church and then go out to lunch. The rest of the day will be rest. I did sleep very well last night and awoke refreshed this morning.
Gord, your family is expanding quickly with the second grandchild due anytime. Hope you all have a wonderful time on your cruise. That is something Pat and I have never done. We planned to do it for our 25th wedding anniversary but I ended up with heart surgery and the trip was out of the question.
Judy, I suppose over time the wax will come off. It sounds like you have a very inquisitive dog. Glad you can laugh about his antics.
Hi to all who visit CP today.
Good Morning I see Larry has already been here. Not much new here today. Yesterday I went to pray for awhile at the Arcata AOG church. Th setting was so nice. There were table around the room where one could sit and write, draw, or make a collage. There was a set up live a living room with lots of huge pillows tables and a sofa. Then there was a corner with a map of the USA and one of the County a table chair soft lighting filled the sanctuary. The chairs were moved to create the most wonderful ambient setting. Music topped it all off. It was so peaceful.
This week we have an Evangelist coming on Wed. Thurs, and Fri., On Thursday we are having a healing service.

I need Marilyn's healing service. I have a full blown cold. I have learned that when I have my alarm set, to not look at the clock when I get up in the middle of the night...several times. This cold caused me to not get over a half hour of sleep at a time...coughing...too hot...too cold. I did fine in not looking at the clock until 6:23am....alarm was set for 6:30am. So I turned off the clock.
No church today. I just didn't feel like driving 25 miles to church and then return back home and it was too late to go to Ivalou's church. But I needed some cold medicine. So I got up at 9am, got dressed and went to Perkins for breakfast. Then to the drug store for medicine and then to the grocery for some needed items.
I have read my devotions and now getting caught up on the computer. Later I plan to take a book to the day bed and maybe get some sleep that I missed last night. The cold pill is doing its job already!
I pray everyone has a God-filled day! (^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)

Aaawww, Etta Sue ... :-* Actually, what you need is the healing touch from our Father. I'll be praying.
I sure know that feeling, though ... Just stay in bed and sleep ..... :)
I had a call from my daughter who is feeling very "down" today and in need of encouragement. She says her friend is "manic depressive" but she only ever gets the depressed part ... never manic! :idiot: Since she was feeling rejection from everyone including her daughter I hated to tell her that I needed to get out of here for church! My neighbors were waiting for me, though, so I guess she feels rejection from me now, too. :-\ Ah well she will go to a meeting today (she said "probably two of 'em") and, hopefully get to feeling better.
It's a gloomy, gray, Autumn day here on the south coast of Oregon ... maybe I'll get a book and a blanket and settle down for the afternoon myself.
By the way, Larry, I was glad to see that you got that moving done without too much strain on yourself. I hope she will be comfortable and happy there for a long time.
I have read all the posts here (always do) and am in prayer for each one. God knows our hearts and the paths He has ordained for each of us to walk ... I'm so glad He's God and I'm NOT!!
I'll be talking at y'all later ... Have a great day for yourselves.
Good evening all:
Like everyone else I have read all the posts, it was a little warmer today which was very nice. Yesterday we went to the funeral home for a visitation and just now we have got another call sayings that someone else has also passed away.
Marilyn: Sue has moved her computer up to the second floor in her home, partly for space and also to reduce her time on the computer as well, she does what is necessary and then turns it off, she now has more time to do other things.
Judy: I hope that you will be able to get all the wood hauled in for winter. Several folk down here go to a lumber yard with their trailer for a load of cut off ends, this can be done just about all the time. The big load I think costs $ 10.00
Will return another day Ruth
I hope you have all had a good day.
Jane, hope you can speak with your daughter again soon. There are times we just HAVE to hurry!
It's time to open a new page, and I even made some fresh cinnamon rolls to go with the coffee and tea. Cyberspace is such a labor saving device! ;)
Since I have to take Beth to Dodge tomorrow I'm posting the new one tonight.
