    Morning Devotional...

Psalm 14:1. "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no god.'  They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good."

It's foolish of human beings to deny the existence and sovereignty of God.  It's a foolish attitude to have, because His existence and power are quite plainly evident.  As the psalmist says elsewhere, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork."  He's simply telling us that there is abundant daily evidence in our world for a gloriously wise and powerful God, a wonderful Maker and Ruler of all things.

So it's foolishness to ignore and deny the overwhlming evidence.  Not only so, but denial like that  has and always will produce certain inevitable results.  The psalmist tells us about it.  He says, "They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good."  It just means that all of us humans are equally guilty in the production of all the evils we see every day in this world.  Simply put, man's corrupt behavior has resulted from his constant denial  of his Maker and Lord.  He's gone his own way instead of God's way, and his way has not been good.

All this points us to the only solution to the world's ills.  It begins with recognition and awareness of the good and living God.  The Apostle Paul wonderfully stated it in his second letter to the Corinthians, chapter four and verse six: "For it is the God Who commanded light to shine out of darkness Who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ."

What about you, dear friend?  Do you at least have the beginning of the solution in your heart?  Have you come to personally know Jesus Christ, so as to see in Him God's glory and goodness?  He welcomes such acquainance on your part.  You can come to know Him by means of His Word, the holy Bible.!Al Moak

Judy is already in or ready for surgery.  God Bless Judy and all the surgeons and nurses today along with her loved ones.  May the guiding hands of God heal her in ways only He knows.

I am off in fifteen minutes to the Ear, Nose and Throat doctor.  My son called me last night.  He mumbles so I am all the time saying, 'What?'.  Last night he was saying, 'What?'  He could barely understand what I was saying.  I will be glad when I get my voice back.  And wouldn't you know, I have a slight cold.  Have to convince them it isn't this slight cold that is causing all the problems.

Back later to let y'all know what he said.

I am praying for Judy.  Lord You be the hands that hod the instryments in this surgery.

John is leaving today and I have to drive him to his truck.  I can't wait till all the repairs are done, and bugs ironed out.  It is quite a distance to Peterbuilt North Bay.

We have rain today.  That is really a blessing, it will clean up the roads and all.

I am off, keeping all the needs here in Prayer.

I have been to the ENT. I am to have surgery for a pre-cancerous growth on my larnyx on May 1 at 9:00am.  He will perform a biopsy as well as clean the growth from my larnyx.  Then I can't talk for one week.  That's the hard part although I have stopped talking as much since it wears me out to talk now.

I have postoperative appointment on May 14 at 11 am.  I guess that will be when I find out about the biopsy report.  I do know if it is cancerous, I will only need radiation on my throat.

Not good news but it sure could have been worse news.  Thank God.

I am okay with it all.  I am in God's hands!

    Hi Etta Sue,

My thoughts and prayers are with you concerning this growth.  Our God is big enough to take care of ALL of our needs.  And I'm so grateful for that.

Not much has changed in my neck of the woods.  Survived daughters birthday get together (did Libby Lu).

My family still needs your prayers, so when you run out of stuff to pray for, please remember us.  God knows our need.

    Thanks,
    Samantha

EttaSue I like that word "pre" cancerous.  As long as it is "pre" we can thank God for blessing you with an urgency to get it checked.

Has anyone heard from Pat????  I am continuing to pray for Judy.  I am leaving very soon for small group, will ask them to pray as well.

Kassie is really sweatting it today.  She can't find her cadet tie.  She didn't put it away behind her, and has no idea where it is....I hope a lesson learned.

Well I am off.  Back tomorrow, will call Pat and see if I can get the results of surgery.

    Have a good night everyone

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful sunny, cloudless day here in Georgia.  Judy, we sure could use some of that rain you are getting today.

Etta Sue, glad you found the problem at this hopefully "pre" stage.  I can't image not speaking for a week.

I hope that Judy M's surgery is over for today and has been successful.  I am praying for her as I do for all of the folks here on SeniorNet.

Al, that was a great devotional today.  Isn't it amazing that folks can not see the hand of God in everything about us but the evil.  We need to seek God's will for our lives and not that our will be done.

Samantha, birthday parties are a lot of work but sure it will be a memorable occasion for your daughter.

Karmat, the Lord provides as you saw with the lady stepping forward to play the piano for Bernard.  Sure he will be back at it shortly.

Carol, glad you had such a nice visit with your sons.

Sarah, I am sure I knew at one time that you were out of highschool.  Just had a senior moment and didn't remember.

Marilyn, enjoyed your pictures of the raptors and owls.

This evening is our monthly birthday celebration for one of the ladies in our Sunday dining group.  We are going to O'Charleys.  This group always has a great time.

Pat called the Stanley Steamer carpet cleaners right before lunch and within the hour they were here and cleaned our carpets in several rooms.  I don't think I ever remember having such prompt service.  They were only here about an hour and now we are waiting for the carpets to dry.  By late this evening they should be dry and certainly by morning.  We are trying not to walk on them anymore than necessary.  We are getting ready for my sister and BIL's visit in a few days.

I received the following today and had never seen it before and felt it had a fine message within the story.  It is a bit long but I felt worth the time to read.

    The Seed

A successful Christian business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.

Instead of choosing one of his directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together.

He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you. "The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued, "I am going to give each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO" .

One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story.
She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed.  Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had grown.   After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.  Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants , but Jim didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure. Six months went by--still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however.  He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the seed to grow.

A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection. Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick at his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot to the board room.  When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives.  They were beautiful - in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!

When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young executives . Jim just tried to hide in the back. "My, what great plants, trees, and flowers you have grown," said the CEO. "Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!" All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered the financial director to bring him to the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, "The CEO knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me fired!"
When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened to his seed - Jim told him the story.

The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim, and then announced to the young executives, "Behold your next Chief  Executive!   His name is Jim!" Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow his seed. How could he be the new CEO the others said?

Then the CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today.    But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow. All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers.

When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chief Executive!"

    * If you plant honesty, you will reap trust
    * If you plant goodness, you will reap friends
    * If you plant humility, you will reap greatness
    *  If you plant perseverance, you will reap    contentment
    * If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective
    * If you plant hard work, you will reap success
    * If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation
    * If you plant faith in Christ, you will reap a harvest
So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will reap later.

Two thousand years ago Paul wrote to the church at Galatia the same story but with fewer words, "What you sow, so shall you reap". (Gal. 6:7)
We are grass that will wither and die but the incorruptible seed of Gods Word will live forever - sow it daily into the life of your family!
    (1 Peter 1: 23 - 25)

Not much new in my neck of the woods. Beautiful Sunny day, I have walked the dogs. I went for a blood draw this morning and lo and behold the phlebotomist got me on the first try, no pain. I am very hard to get blood from, maybe I am a turnip. It was time for another cholesterol check this time there is a new Dr., in  the off I go to. My Dr. went to work for the Veterans clinic.

    Anyone hear from Pat????

Hi Hypergirl,  glad to have you.  Looking forward to seeing some pictures, enjoy browsing around the forums.

    Ruth Ann Bice

Greetings, Hypergirl, hope you enjoy being part of our fellowship. We look forward to seeing you.

Hi to everyone else, too. I, too, am worried about Judy McKenna. I believe that bad surgery was to take many hours, or at least it seems I read that somewhere. I certainly hope both she and her husband, and Pat, too, are doing well today.

It ws my first day back full time - a nice day filled with plenty to do (some of which carried over into tomorrow).

I'm really tired, so probably will retire soon.

Much love to all - prayers for you, Etta Sue. I truly pray that "pre" is the operative word here - often when growths are removed in a timely fashion, it's a very good choice the patient made. God bless you.

Y'all have  a very good remainder of the day.

    Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

    Carol

Etta Sue:  I feel like Etta Sue & that the best word is Pre on the growth.  You won't be able to talk for a long time so it will be a lifesaver for you to come in here and chat away.  Hugs

    Hello Hypergirl!!!Welcome

Pat:  Hello - I will try to check here in the morning.

We are driving to Cheyenne, Wyoming so Don will have a scan of his stomach area - nothing is wrong & they have never done this before.  This is the VA.

    Carol

    Nita

Hello all.  I just zipped in to see if we'd heard about Judy yet.

Hi, Hypergirl. :)   Welcome to Christian Photographers....from a Christian photographer who hasn't taken pics in a few days. :)   I need to take some more and post.

A beautiful day here but my grass is still wet.  I tried to mow and made wet, yucky, grass that the dogs didn't even want to walk in. (I'm glad since they're white)

Carol, you don't even know why they're doing the stomach scan on Don?  They should have told you something!  But sometimes we just go along and wait for an answer. haha.  I know.   I'm glad nothing is wrong so you don't have to worry.

Etta Sue, I, too, like the word, PRE.

    Blessings,  Nita

    Pat

    Hi Everyone...

I didn't see Judy at all today.  The surgery started at 8 am so we left here at about noon and headed right to the 5th floor to sit and wait....and wait....and wait some more.

Finally the surgeon came out at about 5:30 saying he had just left Judy and they were having a problem with her pain tolerance and so they were going to leave her in the Recovery Room for at least 5 more hours.

He replaced another hip on a lady between Judy and 5:30.  I think that Judy's surgery might have been over at about 2:30 pm

I have a funny feeling too that they were going to maybe keep her in the Recovery Room all night as she was in pretty rough shape.

The doctor says he rebuilt her pelvis and also took out the old "cup" which he gave to Norm.  It weighs about 1/2 lb and is rough steel and during the past 5 years, her other bones have actually worn a groove in this "cup" and he could hardly believe what he found.

He couldn't tell us if he managed to do what he wanted until they xray her and she's in too rough a shape to xray today.  So he will do that tomorrow and will be able to tell us more about his thoughts.

I took Norm home and got him in the house and made some phone calls for him and then told him not to answer the phone tonight and to try to get some sleep unless its the hospital and I'll be at his house in 5 minutes if necessary.

So, that's about all I can tell you.

I'm still using my puffers and feeling rough but this is important to be able to help out at a time such as this.

Thanks for the prayers and we'll pass them on to Judy when she can take them in.

Goodmorning before I head out the door to work.

Pat:  Norm & Judy sure need our prayers at this trying and difficult time.   I do remember them and yourself as I drive down the road.

Karma & Nards I think of you often as well.

We have a beautiful day the morning is cool and the sun is up what more can I ask for.

Prayers are for JudyMc to relieve her from the pain and for Norm and Pat for rest and understanding.  God Bless you all.

Nards, I just know you are doing super!  I am sure you are amazed at how well your 'new' heart is working.

Thanks to all who commented about my upcoming surgery. May 1!  Yeah, I like that 'pre' part of pre-cancerous growth, too.  But then he said, if it does turn out to be cancerous, I would only need radiation on my neck where my layrnx is.  I keep wondering how I am going to keep my mouth shut for a week.  Not hard to do at home...only talk to the cats but I don't want to be a shut in for a week either!  In fact, I have photography lessons, the 2nd, a high school musical to go to the 4th, a wedding the 5th, and a Bridal Shower the 6th.  After the 8th, I can try my voice out again!  I think I need to search the toy department for a small slate or do they still have those things that you use a stylus to write with and then you pull up the top sheet and it disappears?  That's what I need!

    And yes....when I can't talk...watch out.  I will post!!

    tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la tra-la-la

    Al Moak

God bless ya, Etta Sue, while your throat is healing!  And I pray He'll cause it to heal thoroughly so that you'll be able to talk normally.

We may be able to watch our grandaughter graduate this June up in Olympia, Wash.  Our son, whom I just got off the phone with, has lots and lots of points with Mariott, so we could get a free stay half way up, up there, half way down again.  So we're praying about all that.

    Liz

Rain again today.  I'm not sure if Spring has come and gone, or if it never arrived.  Looked sunny outside yest. and went out to sit in the garden, near froze from the cold wind!  Gardens are doing great.....people not so great :(

Sorry to learn about Etta Sue and all the others who are not well.  Woke up in the wee hours and did a little praying for everyone.  Not doing all the great on my medication....lots of side effects.  Wendy & Amanda not well either.....we dream about 70 F weather!

Read something that I found interesting.  There is a massive collapse of honey bee population in Nr. America and Europe.  They have discovered that radiation from cellphones is affecting the bee's homing abilities and their ability to communicate with each other.  Up to 90% of the bees in some areas have disappeared.  This puts all crops (veg. & fruit) at great risk.  Now I am not fond of wasps, do love the honey bees.  Einstein wrote that if bees disappear from our planet we won't last for many years.

Well, not getting out, leaves me with little to say.  Thought I would throw that in to fill the space.  Pat knows lots about bees....Pat, I loved that bird doing the two step.

I am amazed that doctors are actually helping Judy M.  Here in this province, they won't do anymore knee replacements on people over 80.  Not to mention, all the other things they won't do.  So if my knees are going to go, they best hurry up.

One of Wendy's good friends had their ID stolen.  Applied for a passport and that was the result.  Gov. contracts lots of the work out.....Now they will spend years trying to sort out the problem.  Average guess is at least several year.  They will also be subject to audits during that period.....and so it goes!

    Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

    Liz
CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

    JudyB

Liz that is terrible about wendy's ID.  There are so many horror stories wbout people with lost ID.

Etta Sue there are boards you can write on and there is a plastic covering that you lift and erase what you wrote.  You will have a difficult week especially with so much on.  Try ToysR Us, They may have them.

Alit must be so good to see your grand children graduate.  Congratulate her from all of us here.

Nita things ae wet here too.  But lots of wind and the wind is drying everything.  We are waiting for word on our lawn tractor.  We will be mowing next month....

Carol: Ask questions.   You deserve answers.  Sometimes the medical profession thinks they are God, and we need to gently remind them they aren't.  We have lost our family doctor.  He had too many patients for his liking so used a lottery system to get rid of some .. It is disappointing to be downgraded to a lottery ticket, especially when we don't gamble.  Oh Well time passes so will this.

Got to go,  I am continuing to pray for Nards and Judy, as well as the rest of the needs eaach person has.  God knows them.  Pat take care, and get some rest.

Hi everyone.  Had another busy day and it is approaching evening.  I need to work this evening and tomorrow afternoon on the material for the lesson I will give on using the computer to a friend on Friday.  I am also doing another lesson on Thursday with the organist from church.  However, I really know of nothing to prepare as such since she just needs some basic help as is pretty much a novice.  She wanted to learn what she wanted to learn so wasn't interested in our Computer Center classes.  The other friend has already had the classes but needs more help and some very detailed documention and that is what takes a lot of time on my part to prepare.

Glad the surgery is over for Judy but that just sounds terrible.  Hope she was feeling a little better today.  Pat, I know that waiting hour after hour can be so tough.

    Welcome hypergirl16.

Going to be brief today as have a lot of things I need to be working on and was gone for most of the day.

Came back to see if any news about Judy M. and read the posts.  Thanks Judy B, but thankfully it was a good friend of Wendy and not her.  The kids have had passports for a number of years and are okay.

In Victoria, the lines for passports are so bad that people are paying homeless people to stay in line for them.  I kid you not!  Have heard many horrible tales about what is happening and I guess stolen ID is only a small part of things. This is happening because our personal data is no longer secure and outside gov. contracts only makes things worse.

Here is a cute little film, hope it works.  Sea Otters holding hands.

I'm home!  We got here about 6:30 this evening.  It was raining so hard in Nebraska we could barely see the road, so we were relieved when we finally drove out of it.

I have read all the posts, cannot respond to all or it would be a novel length post. But I have or will pray for all the needs I read about.

It's been a long day, and I'm headed to bed.  There is a funeral in the morning which I feel I should attend.

Good news on Don's ct scans - no build up of plaque or obstructions.  Really, he doesn't have many complaints but the VA doctor said it would be good to have this in his records.  We didn't come back on the freeway but took an old road all because of wind and snowy conditions.

Nita:  Thank you for your concern.  Everything looks OK this check-up.  I always marvel at the kindness the entire staff at the VA hospital shows to all the patients.  They are so sweet and really caring.

JudyB:  Hi - You mentioned a little while back that you were sewing - a dress for one of the girls?  How is it going?  I don't sew any clothes anymore - just quilt and did make myself a huge tote bag.  Sometimes, I mend but even that is a rare happening anymore.

Pat:  I hope you are sleeping well tonight.  Take care.

Hi Janet:  It sounds like you need a good night's sleep as well.

Hi everyone.  Real quick post.  Travis has strep, again, but Bernard doesn't. :/  Again, thanks for all of your prayers and support.  They really mean a lot.

    Welcome hypergirl!

Etta, that has to be kinda scary, but we can trust God, if we can't do anything else.  I can't imagine not being able to talk for a week.

Hope the dawn finds Judy doing well, and in less pain.  I'm so sorry she is having to go through this. :(  We will continue to pray!
