Morning Devotional... "Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?" Matthew 7:9
The illustration of prayer that Our Lord uses here is that of a good child asking for a good thing. We talk about prayer as if God heard us irrespective of the fact of our relationship to Him (cf. Matthew 5:45). Never say it is not God's will to give you what you ask, don't sit down and faint, but find out the reason, turn up the index. Are you rightly related to your wife, to your husband, to your children, to your fellow-students - are you a "good child" there? "0 Lord, I have been irritable and cross, but I do want spiritual blessing." You cannot have it, you will have to do without until you come into the attitude of a good child.
We mistake defiance for devotion; arguing with God for abandonment. We will not look at the index. Have I been asking God to give me money for something I want when there is something I have not paid for? Have I been asking God for liberty while I am withholding it from someone who belongs to me? I have not forgiven someone his trespasses; I have not been kind to him; I have not been living as God's child among my relatives and friends. (v.12.)
I am a child of God only by regeneration, and as a child of God I am good only as I walk in the light. Prayer with most of us is turned into pious platitude, it is a matter of emotion, mystical communion with God. Spiritually we are all good at producing fogs. If we turn up the index, we will see very clearly what is wrong - that friendship, that debt, that temper of mind. It is no use praying unless we are living as children of God. Then, Jesus says - "Everyone that asketh receiveth."
By Oswald Chambers
Very good devotion. Thanks, I needed that.
Samantha
Thanks Samantha...
A friend and I have been going through the Oswald Chambers, "My Utmosts for His Highest" meditations each day and this one from August 24 really spoke to my heart especially.
Oh that we would all be good children of our Father. As it says above, You cannot have it, you will have to do without until you come into the attitude of a good child.
I pray that this will also be a blessing to all who come in here this week.
That was excellent Pat and like Samantha, i needed that. If i'm honest, at times i can see myself in this article. Asking of things when i know i'm not right with God over an issue.
:'(Could y'all pray for me and my family today? We really need help today.
Thanks,
Samantha :'( :'( :'(
We all struggle with those issues at times; at least I know I do. Thanks, Pat.
Darrel and I took the PT Cruiser out to the repair shop this morning. I took photos of the damage. :( When I drove down that street the other day, I smelled an awful odor of something dead, so I'm sure the car and I fared better than the deer we hit!
Busy week---tomorrow is Beth's birthday, and we are having a little family-plus-a-few-friends dinner party for her on Saturday. I have no idea how I will get this house cleaned, as I'm still supposed to not use my right hand, and for sure, I can't run the vacuum. Darrel's shoulder is still giving trouble, but it is his left, so maybe he will vacuum for me.
See y'all later!
Sure will, Samantha!
Will be praying Samantha
Hi everyone. It is overcast and a little cooler today. There is a chance we will have some showers this afternoon.
Pat and I are going to look a cars this morning. Our Saturn is becoming very unrealiable in terms of starting. I got in it this morning when I needed to leave and it wouldn't start. It has been doing this for quite awhile. I don't know what we will do but want to see what is possible. We just spent a significant amount on getting the car in good shape but having a car that won't start when needed is something that is very bothersome.
Janet, if you and Darrel are not able to vacuum I sure wouldn't worry about it. The folks are coming to celebrate with Beth and not to do a house inspection. If they aren't that is their problem.
Marilyn, it sounds like you had a wonderful day at church yesterday.
Not much else new here so will sign off. Pat, thanks for the devotional.
Yes Samantha I am praying.
Larry sorry to hear about your car. That is such a bothersome thing.
Janet please don't stress over getting your house clean, as Larry aid they are not doing a home inspection and if they can't understand that you must do those thing yet than what would be wrong with asking them to help you.
Saturday I was talking to someone from church who needed employment and Fay has been in need of a caregiver for over a month now. So I hooked them up and and both problems are solved. It had to be a God thing because she was at a place where I was calling someone else.
It looks as though the sun may be coming out early today, that will be good for my tomatoes that are trying to ripen.
Gotta go now.

Pat ~ Thank you for the devotion. We all fall short of being right with God at times. We all need this devotion to remind us of striving to be right with God.
Janet ~ You sound like my sister....cleaning before her family comes to a big dinner. Five minutes after they are there, you can't see the house anyway after they bring all their stuff in. So don't worry about cleaning...do it AFTER they leave...a little each day! Plus if you act like you are hurting, they might just help you clean up...
Larry ~ Nope. Wouldn't like a car that I couldn't depend to start. Hope you find a good deal for you and Pat.
Marilyn ~ Is that what you call 'killing two birds with one stone'? Never liked the thought of killing birds but I understand the meaning.
Neil ~ Glad to see you posting.
Samantha ~ Rest assured, I am praying for you and your family.
The ballgame was hot! We had to walk about 4 blocks to get to the gate and it was at right field. Our seats were on the upper level way past third base. So I got my walking in. The minister said we were to be in the shade. Not! Well, not until about the second inning. We were in the blaring sun all the time. I took my visor and that really helped. The Indianapolis Indians played the Toledo Mud Hens but lost to the Mud Hens 4-1. But it was fun to be there and with great friends.
The church was having a pitch-in picnic when we got back to the church but since we didn't have anything to pitch-in, Ivalou and I opted to go to Bob Evans for dinner. We were both tired probably from the heat.
Then it was home to relax. I noticed Ivalou had company last evening. Bet she wished she could put on her nightie and relax.
Today, I want to mow again. The rain really caused the grass to grow and then this evening is a visiting for my niece by marriage's father who passed away last Friday. He was in the hospital, getting ready to take a shower and go home, when he told his wife, 'I don't think I can do this' and fell to the floor. Sad. Now my niece has lost both of her parents. SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE SIN NO MORE

Hello, everyone :)
Samantha, I'm praying for your family. God bless you.
Bernard
Good evening here folks! I am about to figure out what to have for supper, and then to relax and give my arm rest.
Jeannine Yes I am praying for you.
Enjoyed the devotional today Pat.
Need to get off the puter.
Love to all
JudyB
Got the results from my labs. Cholesterol down from 295 to 248 in three months. Hooray!
Darrel had an app't. with his podiatrist today, in Garden City. His toe is better, but still some infection. He bought a new laser printer, and I need to go sign up for the $20 rebate.
I am tired and my hand is screaming at me to get off here, so I'd better do that.
Samantha, I'm praying for your request. Please know that you have friends on here who really believe in prayer.
Let's sing together.
Won't it be wonderful when we all go home to glory? What a wonderful day that will be! I'm longing for Glory. I long to see Jesus.
Do you?
If you aren't ready for glory, my prayer for you is that you will listen for the Saviour's call and answer and allow Him to do a wonderful work in your life. Accept Jesus as your Saviour. Let Him be the captain of your life! His body was more marred than any man! Totally unrecognizeable! He died on the cross for you and I, and then rose from the grave. What a wonderful day when we see Him face to face.
Think of it. Do you long for this?
Let's sing this together.

I've a home prepared where the saints abide
Just over in the glory land
And I long to be by my Saviour's side
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
I'll join the happy angel band
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
There with the mighty host I'll stand
Just over in the glory land
I am on my way to those mansions fair
Just over in the glory land
There to sing God's praises and his glory share
Just over in the glory land
Refrain
What a joyful thought that my Lord I'll see
Just over in the glory land
And with kindred saved, there forever be
Just over in the glory land

With the blood washed throng I will shout and sing
Just over in the glory land
Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King
Just over in the glory land

I love that song Pat, Thanks for posting it. I haven't heard it in quite awhile.
The PA at the Doctors office was so please with my numbers, I have another blood draw in December. She said to keep on doing what I am doing.
Gotta go now to a Univera meeting. See you tomorrow.
Looking at your morning temperatures & it finally looks like some are cooling down. We have been hot for so long and the only time I wore a sweater for the last few months has been at the hockey rink.
Praying for all who are having needs - medical and otherwise.
Carol
P.S. I have invited a new friend over for lunch & have to get busy & making quiche and banana bread.
Enjoy your lunch, Carol!
I have lots to do today so I best get busy and start doing it.
I am leaving just a few minutes for work, So I will just say Hi and Bye or now and come back this afternoon to write more.
Carol - I think you should send some of the quiche and bananna bread over here! Can you send it through your browser?
I'm just back on here now - couldn't get into CP earlier. Thanks Pat.
Oh Al you are so funny. Just thinking about banana bread makes me gain weight!!
I had another rough night with my arm. I slept in a position that aggrevated the problem. Janet we love you but you nwwd to let that heal.
We have another beautiful day here, Light cloud cover, but nice an warm. I just wish it would stay and winter stay away. The trees are already loosing their bright green, and we are seeing the beginning of yelow and red. First signs of the coming cold.
I am enjoying listening to Woodrow Crowle on the radio talking about the soverignty of God. Going to go and listen.
Love and praying for all needs represented here.
I enjoyed the words of this hymn this morning:
Not what these hands have done (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/notwhatthesehandshavedone.mpga)
(Click to hear music)
Not what these hands have done
Can save this guilty soul;
Not what this toiling flesh has borne
Can make my spirit whole.
Chorus:
Thy work alone, my Saviour,
Can ease this weight of sin;
Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God,
Can give me peace within.
Not what I feel or do
Can give me peace with God;
Nor all my prayers, or sighs, or tears
Can bear my awful load.
Thy love to me, O God,
Not mine, O Lord, to Thee,
Can rid me of this dark unrest,
And set my spirit free.
No other work save Thine,
No meaner blood will do,
No strength, save that which is Divine,
Can bear me safely through.
I praise the God of grace,
I trust His love and might;
He calls me His, I call Him mine,
My God, My joy, my light.

That's a truly great hymn, Pat. The words and music fit together well, which often isn't the case. And the cademce and progression of the music speak the same message as the words! Thank you for it. I think Judy B should read or listen to that hymn right after considering the sovereignty of God.

Good afternoon. Did anyone rise early to see the eclipse? I did. When I got out there the moon was shadowed by about ¾. When it was completely shadowed, there was some cloud coverage so I came back in the house and went back to bed.
I put my battery charger on my car at about 9pm last night. When I went out for the eclipse, it hadn't charged. I think I didn't have the positive clamp on good. Then when I went out after eating breakfast, it still wasn't charged. So I called a friend down the road. His jumpers wouldn't work right. So I called Kaye Don and he told us where his Quick Battery Jumper was and Sam and I walked over and got it. The car started right up. While driving to Pendleton, I called the Fall Creek Tire place where I get my car maintenance. They checked the battery and the alternator and all was fine. If there was a light left on it had to be the dome light...but I am not sure. Anyway, it started fine at the tire place. at McDonalds and at Kaye Don's when I returned the Jumper.
Now we will see if it starts when I want to go play Euchre! Times like this I wish I had a hot line to Jerry....he would have had it running in no time.
At least, everything was free of charge!! That's a plus! /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

Judy, I can sure relate to arm pain. My therapist told me the nerves in mine are waking back up, that's why it's so ouchy. He really helped me this morning.
Etta Sue, glad you got your car started. Now you can empathize with Larry! Have fun at Euchere (whatever that is!) ;)
Busy, busy morning for me! I had an 8 AM app't for therapy, then a 9:15 Chiropractor visit; then went to get Beth and bring her to the chiro., then since today is her birthday, took her out to lunch. When I got home, I put ice on my back/shoulder for a while.
I am so mad at me! I couldn't sleep, so got up around 5 this morning, but FORGOT about the eclipse! :'( I'm so disappointed, and someone who saw it told me it was clearly visible and beautiful. Phooey. I even had it written on my calendar.
Carol, may I drop by for quiche and banana bread? ;) 8) Sounds good!
I was overjoyed to hear that the Korean Christians have been released from Afghanistan!!! Thank you, Lord!
:)First, THANK YOU - Everyone who prayed for us yesterday, I thank you from the bottom of my heart! I don't like to give the devil credit for anything, but he was really attacking us yesterday. But Praise the Lord, today is a new day!
A lot of what seemed to be BIG problems yesterday have almost completely worked themselves out today. I could really feel the prayers that were being sent up on our behalf. What a wonderful group of people all of you are. <3 <3 <3.
Janet, I hope Beth has a wonderful birthday today, and that your arm continues to improve. You are too busy of a person to be sidelined for long.
I feel like I will leave someone out if I start naming names, but I hope that everyone has a great day today.
Thanks again,
Samantha
Another nice day here on the island. I think it is soon about to end with more rain, but at the moment.... :)
Not really in the mood to post and not much to say. Sort of discouraged at the moment. That too will pass.
Samantha, happy that things are better and glad that your faith is strong. Remember there is a saying: Prayer doesn't always change things, But prayer changes us for things.
Read a little blurb that stuck, so here it is:
Wherever God erects a house of prayer,
The Devil always builds a chapel there;
And 'twill be found, upon examination,
The latter has the largest congregation.
Let's hope that one is wrong :-\
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Good Morning. Where are all the other from the other time zones. There are usually at least 2-3 before I get here if I wait until this time.
Nothing new here, Went to a Chocolate meeting last night and got a lot of new information.
The sun is out early today and wasn't that moon fantastic last night.
OK That's all folks C U L8er

It is still morning for a bit here in Indiana.
Euchre was fun. Janet, it is a card game. Not many people know how to play but Hoosiers. I learned to play it as a wee child...along with Solitaire. It is fun and us women aren't out to win...just to enjoy each others company and snacks.
Ivalou and I are going out and about today. Marge, who goes to Beef and Boards with us is my birthday twin. While at B&B she found a birthday card for me that she said she just had to buy. But when she went to the post office, it was going to cost too much to mail it too me...she only lives a mile away. So Sunday in church, she went out to the car and got it and gave it to me...our birthday isn't until the 8th! It is so cute. You fold it backwards and it notches together and then in the front is a rocking chair with lots of kitties on it and the chair rocks and the kitties move too.
Yesterday was one of the ladies birthdays and we all signed a card for her. Huge card but when you opened it, it played the Chicken song. I have to find that for Marge!! Marge reminds me of Janet...little, on the go all the time, never meets a stranger, not afraid to make a fool of herself, you all know one person that is like that. right? And I am lucky enough to know two wonderful ladies like that!!
So I am out the door by noon!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Etta Sue, I got a big chuckle out of your post, because a while back at our ladies' Orange Crush party, I did just that. Well, sort of---but my team won! We had a pile of "stuff" and in teams of two, we picked up whatever, and showed a use for it. It was hilarious! So thanks for the reminder, and the grin.
Liz, sorry you are discouraged today, and hope it does pass quickly. I find that when I don't get enough rest, the pain and discouragement are a lot worse. Maybe you can treat yourself to a nap, or a cup of coffee with a friend, or something that will make you laugh today. I love you. <3
I need to go upstairs and take a baby crib apart. I bought it for Abby when she was a baby, and now it is going to Curtis and Toni for their soon-to-arrive little one. Jeff is driving to Albuquerque tomorrow to take some stuff to them. They closed on a house, are busy painting it, and Toni had contractions for two hours yesterday. Must have been the Braxton-Hicks ones, but when it's your first, you don't know! We will take the crib to Hugoton this afternoon, will wait until after school so we can see our Abby.
See you later, have a wonderful afternoon!
Hi everyone. In reading the posts that I hadn't read I see I probably didn't get here yesterday to post. I wonder what I was doing that kept me so busy, probably just forgot to get back here to post.
We did go car shopping but it was just a looking expedition. I think the next vehicle we get will probably be the SUV type that is easier to get into than the low cars. Often Pat has problems with her back and it bothers her. She also wants leather seats as they are easier to get in and out of. However, new cars are very expensive and it will be a major purchase. We are just aren't ready to make the plunge yet. Yesterday Pat had trouble starting the car twice but today I didn't have any problem.
This morning we went to Bible study and then to the Dunkin' Donut shop for coffee with a group from Bible study as we usually do. We always enjoy being with friends. Today is choir practice and I always look forward to it as love to sing.
I have read all the postings but won't try to name names this afternoon.
Hi folks...
Been a busy day for me here. It's garbage day tonight so I have all my blue bags lined up out there.
I should really get busy and fill some more with useless junk.
Liz, sorry you're feeling "down". Reminds me of the verse, "Look up to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith!"
Get feeling better my friend.
Pat blue bags and green bags......we have only one bag here and that is so much easier.
It has been hot and muggy here. Kids want to go full steam at school work, That is fine with me. Keeps them busy.
I must go. Have a good evening everyone.
Love JudyB
7.15am here, so i am guessing that most of you are still asleep as it's early hours in your part of the world. Off to work in a few moments.
Pat, had to laugh about your blue bags. At present, i have 3 wheelie bins in my garden. The black one for normal household waste, the green one for recycled papers etc and the brown one for garden waste such as grass clippings, flowers etc. Goodness knows what the next one will be for.
Larry, i changed to the bigger SUV type of car a number of years ago. I suffer with my back from time to time, and the higher cars helped hugely where my back was concerned. I now get into my cars without having to go down low. But your right. Cars are a major expense.
For those who know about Senior Net, we are meeting with SueB from Spokane, Washington today - her husband, Don, will be along as well as a three-year-old granddaughter. I met Sue & her daughter before & am sure they will drive this way a couple times per year.
Sorry that you were "down" on CP yesterday. I had my eyes dialated and couldn't see for about six hours. It always affects me longer. Was able to sit with my back to the window and do some hand sewing but decided not to even walk around at first because of the halos. Am expecting a call for appointment to have a laser repair of a cloudy area.
Pat: I checked out the Religion area and it was so disappointing to have so many atheists spouting off (SN). They just can't stop their carping. Shame on them.
JudyB: In February, we volunteered with carpentry work & I also pulled up ruined carpet from hurricane damaged house & ruined my shoulder & thumb on left side. I have forever slept on my left side & have had to change. Is it ever hard. It must be like trying to stop sucking your thumb ^-^ - anyway, we bought a soft foam pad that covers the bed and that does help in the end. Just a thought - I feel so bad for you, as we are retired from the hassle of getting up & roaring out the door or feeding the children, etc. Sleeping on the other side now - all things are possible.
Janet: Yep, had leftovers & I sent a big plateful along with cranberry muffins with this gal so they had dinner as well. She is head of aquatics & we take a deep water class together at the gym. It is about one mile from our house so Don & I decided to join last year.
Al: Enough for you as well - I do enjoy cooking & baking is even better for me. I hope you are doing well with your legs. Have not seen anything about it for awhile.
It is cooler this morning and giving thanks for that prayer being answered. We sure miss our mountain place especially during hot weather. Predictions are for more hot years, we sure don't know what will happen in future. Was watching a show on the hurricanes last night & people are still not prepared for another hit and we did learn that too many do nothing and expect everyone to come to their aid - sad but true. When we worked in the gulf area of "Texas, we were told that the locals never came to volunteer - it is not in their culture to think about it. They were warm and wonderful, our lady's house was so damaged - she sat in her FEMA trailer and praised the Lord with everything but did not step outside to do anything and had not picked up one piece of litter and it had been months since the storm. Very different. Now, I don't know how I got on this ----better go exercise.
Thinking of all of you and each concern. Carol

What a dark gloomy day in Indiana. We had a pretty lightening show last evening/night but I don't know if it rained or not. This morning has been foggy looking but probably steamy out there with the heat and humidity. I haven't stuck my head outside yet. ::)
I am thinking that Kitty and I are going to Hobby Lobby this evening. I want to purchase a glass for a 16" x 20" picture frame to put my beautiful pelican photo in that I took while in Florida last winter. I am hoping they have non-glare glass. All pictures should have non-glare glass and TV sets...IMHO!!
That's about it for me. Oh, yes! I did get Marge a birthday card but it plays 'I Will Survive' when you open it! Marge is the oldest in our little foursome and a singer, so she will get a kick out of it! ---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@---<---<-@

Good Morning, I have an unexpected day off. My client's daughter left a message on my machine last night that she has the day off and will be with her mom.
That Caregiver that I got for Fay didn't work out she was late the first two days and didn't show up the third day. So My friend Willa's niece is going to give Fay a call about working for her.
I stripped my bed so I have a couple of loads of laundry to do. The I think I will go to the Arcata Senior Center for lunch and to visit with my friends there that I haven't seen since starting my new job.
Hi Neil great to see your post this morning.
Well I think I will now fix my breakfast then take the dogs for an early walk. It is beautiful outside today no fog, My tomatoes love the sun.
TTYL
Hi everyone. Been here a the house alone all morning as Pat went to play Canasta at the Senior Center and then is stopping at her friends house (the one who is a quilter). Someone gave her some material and Pat is bringing it home to see if they can use any of it for quilts or other projects. I spent the morning on a number of projects, including doing the financial plan for September. My retirement is available on the 1st so always pay all of the bills tha will be due for the month. With electronic payment I can schedule them for a subsequent payment date and basically have that job for the month.
I have a meeting to attend this evening abut otherwise have the rest of the day free.
Marilyn, I am sure you apapreicate having the day off. Hope you enjoy your day.
Etta Sue, we had a lot of lightning and thunder yesterday afternoon and evening and some of the areas around had quite a nice rain. However, I don't think we had very much rain here at my house.
Carol, it is a shame that your volunteer work resulted in shoulder injury. Hope you get your eye problem fixed soon. I have several friends who have had serious eye problems.
Neil, thanks for the words on the SUV. We haven't decided what to do and will check around quite a bit before making a commitment. I do not recycle as we had very little and getting the container to the street was a problem. It is not required here and sometimes I see them dump the recycled items in with the regular trash.
JudyB, nice that your children are anxious to get to their school work. It sounds like the love the learning. Hope your arm is feeling better.
Hi Pat and all who come in this afternoon.
Carol - thanks for asking about the leg. It still swells a bit during the day, so I have to wear the compression stockings. Sometimes it feels like it weighs about 500 pounds or so, but other than that, not too bad. I'm still able to do 20 minutes on the treadmill, so that's good.
This has been a good day for schoolwork. I haven't been doing the full cirriculum, just spending time on the subjects they enjoy. Today was "World Geography". What an enjoyable time it was learning new stuff and the odd bits of useless trivia. We had a lot of fun with it.
The weather is still nice, a little on the muggy side, but we can handle that.
As far as my arm is concerned, I had a good night's rest last night, found a comfortable position and tried to stay there. As I type it starts spasyming again. So I won't be here long.
Larry I am always amazed at your days. I don't comment often but find the reports newsy and interesting.
Mariilyn to bad that lady didn't work out. Sad when more enthusiasm isn't put into a job. Hey I will do your laundry for you!
ES I agree about non-glare glass.
Carol it is sad when people become apethetic about the conditions around a home. You see this around the welfare housing projects as well. Like they have lost all hope.
Good to see you this AM neil. Have a good day tomorrow....rather when you wake up.
I am being told to get off the puter by my arm... so till tomorrow
God Bless
JudyB
hello all,
been busy busy busy around here days off are spent with homework and classes and all other days are spent with MOUNDS of paperwork from work and what not oh WHAT FUN... i am doing well though... i've had control of the store by myself for almost 2 weeks now i've fired 4 working on 5 not that i really want to but i just surprises me at what they do to get by with things....i have caught a few discounting tickets and still making the customers pay for them.... then pocketing the money....it makes me sick to think someone would do something like that... no wonder the customers don't want to "shop" there... anyways i need to be off to bed adios
sarah
Nice and cool this morning but we are still going into the 90's daily and our normal temp is 84*F.
Larry: Well, I look at this injured & arthritic shoulder as something that would happen along with aging anyway - it is irksome. That is not nice when they jumble recycles into the regular trash - the city of Dallas took a lot of heat for that practice years ago. Am sure that Pat will find a place for all those scraps of fabric.
Marilyn: Shame on people who call themselves caregivers - it could be dangerous for them not to show.
Al: 20 minutes on treadmill is good for you. I am glad that you don't live in a hotter climate since you have to wear the leaded stockings.
Judy B: I can show you whole neighborhoods in the city of Denver - they are pitifully ugly & trashy.
Sarah: Don't feel bad about firing anyone as there are people who deserve to replace them and you are teaching them a valuable lesson. It can be called a form of Tough Love. It is always good to explain to them just exactly why they are being fired as well. Wishing you better luck with the employees!
Next week, the deep water exercise begins at 7:30 instead of 8 and I will have to adjust. There is just so much to think about in the next few weeks, almost overwhelming to get ready for our travel. We have a camping weekend with the kids two weeks from today so that is a fun time for all.
Carol
Yo yo yo, good morning folks! :)
James 1:17 - Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Hope all of you have a good day! I really want to thank Jesus for being my friend.
Hi everyone. Just back from our men's coffee a the local senior center. We had only about a dozen men there this morning but as always had a good time.
My best friend and his wife went up to the State park where Pat and I spent a weekend recently. It was their 53rd wedding anniversary and he said they had a great time. This is located up by Helen, GA (which is like a little Alpine village designed for tourists) and in a little store there he found peach Nehi soda. He brought me back a bottle. I remember grape Nehi but don't think I ever had peach flavor before. I have it in the refrigerator and will enjoy it later today. The stores here don't stock Nehi sodas and I didn't realize they were still being made. Does anyone remember Royal Crown cola and Moon Pies? They don't seem to have Royal Crown in this area either. It is all Coca Cola or Pepsi or the house brand.
Don't have anything on my schedule for today and looking forward to a quiet day. Pat will be gone this morning and probably go out to lunch with friends as she normally does on Friday.
Sarah, it sounds like you are getting quite an introduction to the management world. It is a shame that you are finding that many of your employees who are being dishonest and stealing.
JudyB, I am a little surprised that anyone finds what I post to be very interesting. However, I appreciate your kind remarks and this is what my life is so don't know of anything else to write about. It sounds like your home schooling is going well.
Al, that must be quite a job to walk with a leg that feels like it weighs 500 pounds. Good to see you posting.
Carol, will it be cooler out there by the time you go camping?
Hope everyone has a good day. Hi Nards.
Yes Larry, walking with this leg is something else, but the big job is getting up from the chair and taking the first few steps. I suspect aging as the culprit.

Aaawww AL. Surely you jest!! :D
Hey there, everyone ... I just stopped by to pick on Al ...( I thught he looked like a guitar.)

Oh, if I hurry and post this, it will still be morning here in Indiana.
I got my non-glare glass and my picture is hung...after doing it the third time. I kept putting the glass in wrong and it wasn't non-glare that way. Finally got it!
Kitty and I had a great time. We ate at Fazoli's, a fast food pizza place. Then went to Hobby Lobby. She is a craft person so she knows what all that stuff at Hobby Lobby. I love to browse so we both were in our element. Then we went to North Anderson and looked at a sight that she would like to build on or move their house. I really don't think moving her house is feasible. It would have to be cut in four sections! It not only is long but it is wide...to wide for most streets. And her husband doesn't want to build. The lot is a 5-acre lot on a lake. This is all because an airport is going in and taking their land and house.
Then when we got back to her house, we had us a Diet Coke and some chat time. She is taking valuim because of TMJ, so she was getting pretty drowsy by the time I left.
Then I was wide awake and saved some PSP Picture Tubes from the net to my desktop.
Hope everyone is super-duper and has a great day. God Bless! \\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\//\\

Hi Neil... Sounds as if they are into all of these various colours of bags or containers over in England as well. It's tiring for me. And all my company have to ask, What Bag does this go in?
Just popping in for a minute as my company is here for the weekend and is napping.
Hey, Kids! Did anyone miss me yesterday? I did pop in and read but didn't post. The housekeeper employed by the Senior Center had an opening, so she was here for two hours, and got the vacuuming done, swept and mopped the kitchen floor, so I'm feeling better about my house. It was really starting to bug me, but I didn't want to risk injuring my wrist by doing it myself.
I did do a lot of decluttering, straightening, dusting---all that sort of stuff. Still have to clean the bathrooms, vanities, mirrors, etc. But I have this afternoon to do that. I'm going to get Abby after school and she will help me.
Hey there, Nards! This morning, after Pat did my hair, I took Beth to the Chiropractor, then did some errands, giving away some of the "stuff" I wanted out of my way. I need to do that with at least a truckload of stuff!
Etta Sue, I learned to hold the glass up to the light and check which is the non-glare side before putting it into the frame. Saves a lot of redoing, as I'm sure you learned on this project. I love to browse in Hobby Lobby, too.
Carol, I have been thinking about the woman who didn't lift a finger to help herself, even while you were there doing for her. That is just WRONG, in my opinion. Those who won't help themselves are not deserving of being helped, I don't think. Now, if they are disabled, that is another matter, but that is just plain laziness. Of course the welfare system just encourages people to be lazy---and dishonest. (Again--IMO, of course.) Tell me again where you and Don are going? Darrel and I are going to Peru in November.
Larry, I always enjoy your posts, and admire you for keeping active, and for helping people. God bless you.
Hey there, Nards! Good to "see" you today! :)
Al, hope that "fat" leg of yours gets back to normal soon.
Hi, Jane. What's happening over in your corner?
Sarah, it is a shame that people want to be dishonest. Jeff caught someone trying to "string" bills in his car wash in Liberal. I had never even heard of that before. Amazing the ways people devise to try to steal money. And good for you for being tough enough to fire them! I'm proud of you!
Ruth Ann----where are you? I miss you!! :(
Hi, Pat! How goes it?? ^-^
Ah Jane...you have a wicked sense of humour!
Yes Colin, she does indeed! And this time she really hit a sour note (on that guitar)
:rocker: :D
Well Al. I always thought you looked more like a banjo myself. Just plucked up the courage to tell you that! 0:-) Hi Jane!
Actually, I'm right here, Janet. I've had a problem having enough time to do what I want to do. Seems not enough time. But, then, I'm feeling better enough that I can take a bit of time to do some cooking for the first time since 2005 when I was in the wheelchair. It's been SO hard to try to stand ong enough to get anything done. And, of course, that's very discouraging, so I've been really dealing with feeling low in spirits. I need to find a CD with the song that restored my spirits after my hubby died. There was a song that meant a lot to me back then, called "In the Valley He Restores My Soul." I think I need to hear it several times.
Then, while down in Atlanta, someone down there made several hurtful statements that I've had to work through. I was only there to help (and they were REALLY grateful for the help), but when I came away feeling so small I could walk upright under a dime on the floor, it will let you know where my spirits have been. :'(
So, I've kinda been hiding out. Yet, someone needs to know so you can support me with prayer. I try to put a good face on in SeniorNet, but it certainly has been hard these last 2-3 weeks.
Yesterday the doc sorta put another crimp in my emotions. My left achilles tendon has been plaguing me for about 2 months, and he said this will be something I'll be dealing with the remainder of my life. Maybe, if God is willing, sometimes I'll be able to wear a shoe - otherwise it will be a velcro walking cast, a plaster cast, or maybe a wheelchair.
I asked about exercising, and he said only on a stationary bike - as little walking as possiible. So, I'll renew my Senior Citizens membership and go there in the evenings after work - the entire year's membership is only about $65 and they have 2 nicely furnished exercise rooms. In fact, one of them has the "curves" type of equipment. And, they're open until 7 pm each night. So, I'll need to scope out when is an appropriate time for me to get there to take advantage of the stationary bikes.
Well - enough down-in-the-hole comments for the evening. One thing I'm SO very grateful for is God's love, it's unchanging, and always there when we need it. Also, He's the Master Healer, and if it's His will, He can make our physical difficulties get better. And, if not, He says for us to cast our cares upon Him, for He cares for us, doesn't He.
Y'all have a good evening. It's so great to get caught up with all the goings-on in here. I really love y'all.
Ruth Ann
Awww Ruth Ann I will be adding you to my prayer list.
I mowed the yards today and watered the front yard. The front is so full of gopher holes if anyone knows of something that doesn't cost me anything to do please tell me. Someone at Curves told me to stuff hair in the holes, so I brushed Happy this afternoon and had enough for maybe 3 holes, but that is nowhere near enough.
I finally got Fay another Caregiver that I think will work out fine for her. They are both from around the same area of Arkansas so they will have lots to talk about. Sheila will start working for Fay on Monday. Fay and I are going out to eat after I get home from church on Sunday.
Hi everyone.
TTYL
Ruth Ann I too have been wondering how you were. Just remember I am praying for all that is surrounding you.
Have to make it quick tonight. Arm again, was driving and that seems to take a big tole.
Today as we were leaving to go shoppng Mom fell forward and has broken her wrist. the ambulance arrived at 3:30 and we finally left the hospital at 6:00. That is actually good for time here, but seemed oh so long. They did an ecg at my request, (I wanted to make sure that was not the problem), and finally released her with pain meds and a followup in 6 weeks. Please keep her in prayer as the bruising from the fall will be worse initially than the wrist. Her spirits are good and she was joking with the medical staff at the hospital.
I have the two grands here this weekend, and what a joy they are. I told Johnny that when he wakes up to just come down and watch TV till the rest of the house wakes up. He is an early bird, and is usually so quiet in the mornings for us.
Got to get off here, take care EVERYONE, and have a good God long weekend.
Love JudyB
Father, I pray that You will in some special way place Your Hand upon Ruth Ann. O Father, I would pray for healing, but mostly i pray for inner strength and grace to live for You even in these circumstances. Make her know Your Presence and blessing, Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Hi everyone. We have finally had a break in our heat cycle here in Georgia and some temps in the lower 80's and morning around 70. It is really pleasant. There is a good chance we will have some rain this weekend.
Don't have a lot planned other than to watch a lot of college football today starting after lunch. Both Georgia and Georgia Tech play this afternoon and evening and both games are televised locally.
Yesterday was one of the day I experience periodically where I am exhausted. I spent most of the day in bed or just sitting in my easy chair and went to bed last night very early. Happy to say that I am feeling back to my normal self today.
JudyB, sure sorry to hear of the bone break experienced by John's mother. The falls are so hard on older folks. Hope she was able to rest during the night.
Marilyn, it is certainly nice of you to take Faye out to eat and to be so attentive in finding her someone to care for her.
Ruth Ann, glad to see you posting as have been missing your posts. Sorry you have experienced hurtful things. I am sure you know that just because someone says something that doesn't make it so and if criticism is not deserved we really gain nothing by dwelling on it. Easier said than done I well realize. Sure sorry to read you are experiencing more medical problems.
Colin, nice to see you popping in and sharing your sense of humor. I know I miss your humor when you are not posting.
Hi Jane, Pat, Etta Sue and Al.
Janet, glad to see that you found someone to help with the heavy housework. Perhaps it is time to treat yourself to getting someone regularly to come in and do the heavy cleaning so that once you get your arm back in shape you do not reinjure it. We have used a housekeeper for several years and feel it is worth every cent we spend on it. She is currently ill and Pat did the work last time and really suffered for it.
Time for me to leave for a meeting. Hope everyone has a good day.
Good Morning. I have been in and out of here a few times already checking to see if anyonehad posted yet.I have just spent a pleasant ½ hour on Skype with a good friend in another country.
I don't have much on the agenda for today, a little cleaning walking the dogs, shower and wash my hair. It will for the most part be a day of rest for me. I am currently having a second :coffee: still in my pajamas.
Our pastor has been away for two weeks on vacation, he's back now so I am looking forward to tomorrow's message.
I'll be back later.

It is really nice here in Indiana today. A cool 69°. So I have shut off my A/C and opened windows to let the breeze through. Feels really good.
I put a letter in the mailbox and then went to Ivalou's with my coffee. We had a nice talk. Hadn't seen her for a couple of days. I guess Kaye Don and Barb are in Michigan and are to come home tomorrow or Monday.
I think Ivalou and I will mow this afternoon. Seems the grass is really green and growing. Just mowed Monday! So after lunch, out we go with our mowers.
I am hoping everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!! Wish I had a cookout to go to!! ?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

Thanks so much for being here, friends. Today my spirits are beginning to rise a bit. So, your prayers are beginning to help strengthen me.
Larry, so sorry you had such a feel bad day. Yikes - it's no fun to feel that bad. Sometimes on Saturdays, I'm so worn out that I end up sleeping most of the day. But, then as you said, it really rests the body.
JudyB, so sorry about your arm, and Janet, yours, too. It's really wonderful to have my hands more back to normal. To be able to do touch typing again is something to be really grateful for.
Another thing to be very thankful for is that my son is beginning to clear clutter here in the house so we can start the renovations. I've been hoping and praying for this, because as some of the rest of us, it's just not possible for a lot of heavy lifting a cleaning. I was beginning to wonder if I needed to get someone in here to really upset him, but plain ole pick it up and either discard or store or give away to a charitable organization. Thanks for your continuing prayers about him. I believe his spirits as well s mine will really lift when we are in less drastic circumstances than at present.
Well, it's so good to hear of all of you - what you're doing in your lives, how the Lord's helping each of you.
I got the privilege of eating lunch with my brother from Ohio. I don't know if I told y'all that he's now the Men's Ministry Director for our entire deonmination. And, he's so very humble and really trying. Hope you can keep him in your prayers, too, as he takes on this huge challenge.
Love y'all.
Ruth Ann
We are eating a western Colorado peach daily - they are the best tasting - sorry Georgia!!!
Larry: Nights are cooler now and we have been opening windows for sleeping. Sure is nice. Never had Moon Pies, but I did live near Brown & Haley candy & they sold the broken chocolate for less...
Al: Just realized that your leg is giving you problems - I send a prayer for healing.
Janet: Peru sounds so exotic but be very careful in the altitude. Our friends were there & she was ill for two days & they felt the earthquake although it was hundreds of miles away. Sounds like you made some things happen & good for you - take care of thyself. We leave Sept 20 for London. Staying in Cambridge after a while in Sweden. Ya you betcha. (They speak excellent English over there).
Jane: I can't believe you said that! ;)
Ruth Ann: What a hard day for anyone and sorry that you had such experience. As for your foot/ankle, I would certainly see a 2nd opinion later on at some time - take care. Enjoy your weekend.
Carol
We have a houseful of company and more coming for Beth's birthday supper at 7:00. So no time just now, but I promise---I shall return!
Ruth Ann, SO good to see you, and may I call you, maybe tomorrow afternoon? :)
Good Morning everyone, Blessed Sunday to each and everyone of you.
Janet how did the dinner turn out? I hope Beth had a wonderful birthday party.
Al sorry to hear that your leg feels like it weighs 500 lbs. Has the doctor told you why it feels that way.
Larry glad you feel better than the day before when you were so exhausted.
Etta Sue did you and Iva Lou get the yards mowed yesterday? I mowed on Friday and then watered the front lawn. My yard is so over run with gopher holes and their piles of dirt. I don't know what to do. This isn't my property and the landlords don't like us to spend anything then deduct it from the rent plus I can't afford any expensive lawn and yard treatments. My neighbors have done some remodeling on their little house and not even told the landlord anything about it. I bought parts for my toilet and repaired that myself. They still haven't replaced my shower and it has been two years.
Yesterday I just spent the day relaxing and doing a few little things around here, took the dogs for a walk, took a lite nap and rested. I am so glad to have this three days off.
Carol I know you will enjoy your vacation in England. It is such an historical and beautiful place.
Ruth Ann sorry to hear about your Achilles tendonitis and that you will have to deal with it for the rest of your life. I pray the doctors will come up with some kind of relief for you.
Aftr church Fay and I are going out for Lunch to the Oriental Buffet, she likes that place.
Hi JudyB, Pat, Colin, Jeannine, Iain, Neil, Sarah etc.
Hi everyone. We slept in later this morning. I usually have to arise around 6:30 so I can pick up my ride to coffee a little after 7:30. Sunday is the one day we don't meet and church doesn't start until 11:15 so we can take things slower. Of course, sometimes I think if I get any slower I willl be walking backwards. Guess that is one of the joys of being retired in that I can do what I want to do and get to something else tomorrow. It probably wasn't tha important anyway, unless it was to pay bill. :)
Our pastor is doing a series of sermons on our church mission statement and they are very good. I will be singing in the choir as usual this morning and then I expect we will go out to eat.
We went out to eat with a group of friends yesterday at lunch and went to Ruby Tuesday's. I can't say that is my favorite place to eat. I had the salad bar and a bowl of soup. It is certainly getting expensive to eat out but we still do it because we enjoy it.
Janet, hope the birthday dinner for Beth went well and that you didn't overdo.
Carol, that western Colorado peach sure does sound good. We don't seem to get many peaches in our stores here. While many peaches are grown in Georgia and surrounding states, I guess most of them go into cans. Occasionally we will get some really good peaches. It sounds like you have an exciting trip planned.
Ruth Ann, glad your son is feeling up to helping a bit with things that need to be done. Hope you have a good week upcoming.
Etta Sue, you sound like my wife in wanting to get the house opened up as soon as possible in the spring and fall. We are looking forward to cooler days so we can use our porch again. It has been too hope for the last several weeks. It sounds like your grass mowing is like a party. Do you and Ivalou race each other on your mowers? :)
Marilyn, with your schedule I am sure you are happy to have a day or so when you don't have a long list of things to do. I know you will be glad to have your pastor back in the pulpit today.
Hope everyone has a nice holiday. Tomorrow is a non-work day for many folks here in the USA.
Hi Marilyn...and all the rest of you guys. One thing that amuses me is the way that you call your gardens a yard. I have visions of you all mowing gravel...tarmac..concrete...bricks...etc as a yard over here usually consists of these things and is the bit around the house where cars are parked or where outbuildings are found. Guess you have all got blunt blades on your mowers! :uglystupid:
Take care everyone...God bless

Colin ~ I have seen photos of YOUR garden and it is a garden...full of beautiful flowers, shrubs, bushes, trees. But my yard is a yard....grass and mole hills!! No flowers except I do still have some Surprise Lilies.
Marilyn ~ Have you been at that little house two years? Can't believe it! Are you talking about moles or gophers? We have moles around here that makes runs and then hills out of dirt. Nothing gets rid of moles. But they say if you spray for grubs, then they will go away. Grubs are their main source of food. My best remedy is roll up a stick of Juicy Fruit chewing gum, make a hole in a run with a broom handle and poke 2-4 rolls of gum in the hole. Or purchase a mole trap. And yes, Ivalou and I mowed yesterday...probably if Kaye Don had been home, he would have mowed and the neighbor across the road mowed. We do try to keep up with the Jones's ::) ::)
Church was great today. The post-teen and teen minister is in Kentucky somewhere with the male teens so the Senior minister preached for those two services. The Senior worship leader preached the two Senior service. Both were about God's Spirit and our own desires, Galatians 5:16-26.
I then had my lunch, filled the car up with gasoline, went to Goodwill for some books to read and Wal~Mart! Now I am home.
It was 77° in my house when I got up at 6:30am so I shut my windows and turned the A/C back on. Still not as cool as I like but it is getting there!! »ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«

Good afternoon all,
Colin ~  :uglystupid: I got it! aye!
Hi Marilyn, Larry, Etta Sue, Al, Nards, Samantha, Janet, Pat, JudyB, Carol, Liz, and forgive me whoever I forgot.
Nothing has changed much here, still trusting in the good Lord for everything. Praying for you all and all the needs mentioned here.
Have a blessed and God filled day!
Still Trusting In Him,
><>Jeannine
I guess my lilies would be surprised too if I crept up behind them and shouted boo! :uglystupid: Thank you Etta Sue for the comments on my pics. Cows with broken legs indeed!! They were lying there chewing the cud. Hi Jeannine...glad you understand me! God bless
Happy Sunday afternoon to you all. I am glad we don't have services tonight and that tomorrow is a holiday. This ol' gal is tired. Yesterday was just about too much for me. But Beth did have a good day. I picked her up at 10 in the morning, they had put in a catheter and had all her pills ready for the day. Kerri and Ray (my youngest daughter and her husband) thought Kerri needed to go to Boise City Oklahoma to see the headstone on their Dad's grave. None of the girls had seen it; so they decided to take Beth along, and stop in Hugoton and pick up Diane as well. Then they wanted me to go......so we all went. That took an unplanned hunk of about 7 hours out of my day! But it was good for them all, maybe will give Kerri some closure. She has had a tough time dealing with her Dad's death.
When we got back we had to start on the dinner right away; then I had to stop in the middle and go pick up Mom. Anyway, there were 14 here for supper, and all seemed to enjoy it. It is heartbreaking to see Beth so weak and disabled she cannot even open a gift wrapped in tissue paper! :'( And she asked Diane to feed her ice cream cake to her.
The girls were working on a jigsaw puzzle together, and Beth did manage to find a few pieces that fit. By 10 last night, she asked me to take her back; she was exhausted. I had told the nurses I was going to keep her out until she asked to go back, so she wouldn't feel we were rushing her. s he was more than ready to go to sleep, so I hope she did sleep.
Etta Sue, I had this mental picture of you and Ivalou on your mowers, waving at each other at every turn! It is so nice you live there next to both your siblings.
Church this morning was really different. Pastor and wife have gone to Nebraska to conduct a wedding, half the congregation were missing, and we did a sort of ice-breaker thing for the church time. :-\ Oh, well.........
Colin, when I think of a garden, I picture either a vegetable garden or a flower garden; when I think "yard" I think of lots of grass, with maybe flower beds around the edges. But here's a question for you.........Why do we park on a driveway, and drive on a parkway?? Language is a funny thing, isn't it?
Larry, where did you eat today? We had leftovers! ;)
Our dog Cookie is having puppies today. She was huge, so we expect her to produce several. So far, there is only one. (One more than we really wanted!) Abby is so excited about it!
Marilyn, the dinner was good: hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and dip, baked beans, wilted lettuce salad, corn on the cob, cantaloupe, deviled eggs, sliced tomatoes, and ice cream cake for dessert. And they pretty much ate all of it, too. :)
Cool day here on the island. Real fall weather. Misty decided to have a night out in the garden and would not come in last night. She hid in a shrub and we could see her but not grab.... (It is a worry as we have had a cougar spotted in the area. I had to get up at 3 AM and checked the outside door...there she sat, the little brat. Like a rebellious teen! >:(
Read all the many posts and have prayed for many. Will say a special prayer for Beth tonight.
One of the reasons this person has been sad lately, is because Amanda has dropped her Art and stopped going to university. What a terrible waste of her parents money and terrible waste of her talent. She did get good marks last year and could have succeeded this year. Simply does not have the self confidence to work and know she can be a success. Let a couple of unpleasant professors get to her and undermine .... If only she had the confidence that comes from knowing Jesus. With the power of the Lord to rely on, we can work hard and not be afraid. I am not angry with her, simply sad. Can only pray that she will return to university in the near future. Meanwhile, works at the store and now has learned a few lessons about paying board & room, her own expenses, etc. Can stay at home until spring, when she is 21, but will have to make some important decisions by then. So a few prayers would sure help. I wish she could meet someone like Sarah, who is a little bundle of determination and confidence. Sarah even inspires me....
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Oh, Marilyn. If you have gophers, farmers used to fill the holes with water and attempt to send them to a better place ;) Of course, that might not be acceptable these days! :-\
Liz
I have been doing that but it seems like the hole never will fill up and there are so many holes that the water never comes out of another hole.
It's that time again, so go to:
