Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

It is still morning for a bit here in Indiana.

Euchre was fun.  Janet, it is a card game.  Not many people know how to play but Hoosiers.  I learned to play it as a wee child...along with Solitaire.  It is fun and us women aren't out to win...just to enjoy each others company and snacks.

Ivalou and I are going out and about today.  Marge, who goes to Beef and Boards with us is my birthday twin.  While at B&B she found a birthday card for me that she said she just had to buy.  But when she went to the post office, it was going to cost too much to mail it too me...she only lives a mile away.  So Sunday in church, she went out to the car and got it and gave it to me...our birthday isn't until the 8th!  It is so cute.  You fold it backwards and it notches together and then in the front is a rocking chair with lots of kitties on it and the chair rocks and the kitties move too.

Yesterday was one of the ladies birthdays and we all signed a card for her.  Huge card but when you opened it, it played the Chicken song.  I have to find that for Marge!!  Marge reminds me of Janet...little, on the go all the time, never meets a stranger, not afraid to make a fool of herself, you all know one person that is like that. right?  And I am lucky enough to know two wonderful ladies like that!!

So I am out the door by noon!!

Etta Sue, I got a big chuckle out of your post, because a while back at our ladies' Orange Crush party, I did just that.  Well, sort of---but my team won!  We had a pile of "stuff" and in teams of two, we picked up whatever, and showed a use for it.  It was hilarious!   So thanks for the reminder, and the grin.

Liz, sorry you are discouraged today, and hope it does pass quickly.  I find that when I don't get enough rest, the pain and discouragement are a lot worse.  Maybe you can treat yourself to a nap, or a cup of coffee with a friend, or something that will make you laugh today.  I love you.  <3

I need to go upstairs and take a baby crib apart.  I bought it for Abby when she was a baby, and now it is going to Curtis and Toni for their soon-to-arrive little one.  Jeff is driving to Albuquerque tomorrow to take some stuff to them.  They closed on a house, are busy painting it, and Toni had contractions for two hours yesterday.  Must have been the Braxton-Hicks ones, but when it's your first, you don't know!  We will take the crib to Hugoton this afternoon, will wait until after school so we can see our Abby.

See you later, have a wonderful afternoon!

Hi everyone.  In reading the posts that I hadn't read I see I probably didn't get here yesterday to post.  I wonder what I was doing that kept me so busy, probably just forgot to get back here to post.

We did go car shopping but it was just a looking expedition.  I think the next vehicle we get will probably be the SUV type that is easier to get into than the low cars.  Often Pat has problems with her back and it bothers her.  She also wants leather seats as they are easier to get in and out of.  However, new cars are very expensive and it will be a major purchase.  We are just aren't ready to make the plunge yet.  Yesterday Pat had trouble starting the car twice but today I didn't have any problem.

This morning we went to Bible study and then to the Dunkin' Donut shop for coffee with a group from Bible study as we usually do.  We always enjoy being with friends.  Today is choir practice and I always look forward to it as love to sing.

I have read all the postings but won't try to name names this afternoon.

Pat

Hi folks...

Been a busy day for me here.  It's garbage day tonight so I have all my blue bags lined up out there.

I should really get busy and fill some more with useless junk.

Liz, sorry you're feeling "down".  Reminds me of the verse, "Look up to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith!"

Get feeling better my friend.

Pat blue bags and green bags......we have only one bag here and that is so much easier.

It has been hot and muggy here.  Kids want to go full steam at school work, That is fine with me.  Keeps them busy.

I must go.  Have a good evening everyone.

7.15am here, so i am guessing that most of you are still asleep as it's early hours in your part of the world. Off to work in a few moments.

Pat, had to laugh about your blue bags. At present, i have 3 wheelie bins in my garden. The black one for normal household waste, the green one for recycled papers etc and the brown one for garden waste such as grass clippings, flowers etc. Goodness knows what the next one will be for.

Larry, i changed to the bigger SUV type of car a number of years ago. I suffer with my back from time to time, and the higher cars helped hugely where my back was concerned. I now get into my cars without having to go down low. But your right. Cars are a major expense.

Carol

For those who know about Senior Net, we are meeting with SueB from Spokane, Washington today - her husband, Don, will be along as well as a three-year-old granddaughter.  I met Sue & her daughter before & am sure they will drive this way a couple times per year.

Sorry that you were "down" on CP yesterday.  I had my eyes dialated and couldn't see for about six hours.  It always affects me longer.  Was able to sit with my back to the window and do some hand sewing but decided not to even walk around at first because of the halos.  Am expecting a call for appointment to have a laser repair of a cloudy area.

Pat:  I checked out the Religion area and it was so disappointing to have so many atheists spouting off (SN).  They just can't stop their carping.  Shame on them.

JudyB:  In February, we volunteered with carpentry work & I also pulled up ruined carpet from hurricane damaged house & ruined my shoulder & thumb on left side.  I have forever slept on my left side & have had to change.  Is it ever hard.  It must be like trying to stop sucking your thumb  ^-^ - anyway, we bought a soft foam pad that covers the bed and that does help in the end.  Just a thought - I feel so bad for you, as we are retired from the hassle of getting up & roaring out the door or feeding the children, etc.  Sleeping on the other side now - all things are possible.

Janet:  Yep, had leftovers & I sent a big plateful along with cranberry muffins with this gal so they had dinner as well.  She is head of aquatics & we take a deep water class    together at the gym.  It is about one mile from our house so Don & I decided to join last year.

Al:  Enough for you as well - I do enjoy cooking & baking  is even better for me.  I hope you are doing well with your legs.  Have not seen anything about it for awhile.

It is cooler this morning and giving thanks for that prayer being answered.  We sure miss our mountain place especially during hot weather.  Predictions are for more hot years, we sure don't know what will happen in future.  Was watching a show on the hurricanes last night & people are still not prepared for another hit and we did learn that too many do nothing and expect everyone to come to their aid - sad but true.  When we worked in the gulf area of "Texas, we were told that the locals never came to volunteer - it is not in their culture to think about it.  They were warm and wonderful, our lady's house was so damaged  - she sat in her  FEMA trailer and praised the Lord with everything but did not step outside to do anything and had not picked up one piece of litter and it had been months since the storm.  Very different.  Now, I don't know how I got on this ----better go exercise.

Thinking of all of you and each concern.  Carol

What a dark gloomy day in Indiana.  We had a pretty lightening show last evening/night but I don't know if it rained or not.  This morning has been foggy looking but probably steamy out there with the heat and humidity.  I haven't stuck my head outside yet.   ::)

I am thinking that Kitty and I are going to Hobby Lobby this evening.  I want to purchase a glass for a 16" x 20" picture frame to put my beautiful pelican photo in that I took while in Florida last winter.  I am hoping they have non-glare glass.  All pictures should have non-glare glass and TV sets...IMHO!!

That's about it for me.  Oh, yes!  I did get Marge a birthday card but it plays 'I Will Survive' when you open it!  Marge is the oldest in our little foursome and a singer, so she will get a kick out of it!

Good Morning, I have an unexpected day off. My client's daughter left a message on my machine last night that she has the day off and will be with her mom.

That Caregiver that I got for Fay didn't work out she was late the first two days and didn't show up the third day. So My friend Willa's niece is going to give Fay a call about working for her.

I stripped my bed so I have a couple of loads of laundry to do. The I think I will go to the Arcata Senior Center for lunch and to visit with my friends there that I haven't seen since starting my new job.

Hi Neil great to see your post this morning.

Well I think I will now fix my breakfast then take the dogs for an early walk. It is beautiful outside today no fog, My tomatoes love the sun.

Hi everyone.  Been here a the house alone all morning as Pat went to play Canasta at the Senior Center and then is stopping at her friends house (the one who is a quilter).  Someone gave her some material and Pat is bringing it home to see if they can use any of it for quilts or other projects.  I spent the morning on a number of projects, including doing the financial plan for September.  My retirement is available on the 1st so always pay all of the bills tha will be due for the month.  With electronic payment I can schedule them for a subsequent payment date and basically have that job for the month.

I have a meeting to attend this evening abut otherwise have the rest of the day free.

Marilyn, I am sure you apapreicate having the day off.  Hope you enjoy your day.

Etta Sue, we had a lot of lightning and thunder yesterday afternoon and evening and some of the areas around had quite a nice rain.  However, I don't think we had very much rain here at my house.

Carol, it is a shame that your volunteer work resulted in shoulder injury.  Hope you get your eye problem fixed soon.  I have several friends who have had serious eye problems.

Neil, thanks for the words on the SUV.  We haven't decided what to do and will check around quite a bit before making a commitment.  I do not recycle as we had very little and getting the container to the street was a problem.  It is not required here and sometimes I see them dump the recycled items in with the regular trash.

JudyB, nice that your children are anxious to get to their school work.  It sounds like the love the learning.  Hope your arm is feeling better.

Hi Pat and all who come in this afternoon.

Carol - thanks for asking about the leg.  It still swells a bit during the day, so I have to wear the compression stockings.  Sometimes it feels like it weighs about 500 pounds or so, but other than that, not too bad.  I'm still able to do 20 minutes on the treadmill, so that's good.

JudyB

This has been a good day for schoolwork.  I haven't been doing the full cirriculum, just spending time on the subjects they enjoy.  Today was "World Geography".  What an enjoyable time it was learning new stuff and the odd bits of useless trivia.  We had a lot of fun with it.

The weather is still nice, a little on the muggy side, but we can handle that.

As far as my arm is concerned, I had a good night's rest last night, found a comfortable position and tried to stay there.  As I type it starts spasyming again.  So I won't be here long.

Larry I am always amazed at your days.  I don't comment often but find the reports newsy and interesting.

Mariilyn to bad that lady didn't work out.  Sad when more enthusiasm isn't put into a job.  Hey I will do your laundry for you!

ES I agree about non-glare glass.

Carol it is sad when people become apethetic about the conditions around a home.  You see this around the welfare housing projects as well.  Like they have lost all hope.

Good to see you this AM neil.  Have a good day tomorrow....rather when you wake up.

I am being told to get off the puter by my arm... so till tomorrow
God Bless
JudyB

Carol

Nice and cool this morning but we are still going into the 90's daily and our normal temp is 84*F.

Larry:  Well, I look at this injured & arthritic shoulder as something that would happen along with aging anyway - it is irksome.  That is not nice when they jumble recycles into the regular trash - the city of Dallas took a lot of heat for that practice years ago.  Am sure that Pat will find a place for all those scraps of fabric.

Marilyn:  Shame on people who call themselves caregivers - it could be dangerous for them not to show.

Al:  20 minutes on treadmill is good for you.  I am glad that you don't live in a hotter climate since you have to wear the leaded stockings.

Judy B:  I can show you whole neighborhoods in the city of Denver - they are pitifully ugly & trashy.

Sarah:  Don't feel bad about firing anyone as there are people who deserve to replace them and you are teaching them a valuable lesson. It can be called a form of Tough Love.  It is always good to explain to them just exactly why they are being fired as well.  Wishing you better luck with the employees!

Next week, the deep water exercise begins at 7:30 instead of 8 and I will have to adjust.  There is just so much to think about in the next few weeks, almost overwhelming to get ready for our travel.  We have a camping weekend with the kids two weeks from today so that is a fun time for all.

Carol

Hi everyone.  Just back from our men's coffee a the local senior center.  We had only about a dozen men there this morning but as always had a good time.

My best friend and his wife went up to the State park where Pat and I spent a weekend recently.  It was their 53rd wedding anniversary and he said they had a great time.  This is located up by Helen, GA (which is like a little Alpine village designed for tourists) and in a little store there he found peach Nehi soda.  He brought me back a bottle.  I remember grape Nehi but don't think I ever had peach flavor before.  I have it in the refrigerator and will enjoy it later today.  The stores here don't stock Nehi sodas and I didn't realize they were still being made.  Does anyone remember Royal Crown cola and Moon Pies?  They don't seem to have Royal Crown in this area either.  It is all Coca Cola or Pepsi or the house brand.

Don't have anything on my schedule for today and looking forward to a quiet day.  Pat will be gone this morning and probably go out to lunch with friends as she normally does on Friday.

Sarah, it sounds like you are getting quite an introduction to the management world.  It is a shame that you are finding that many of your employees who are being dishonest and stealing.

JudyB, I am a little surprised that anyone finds what I post to be very interesting.  However, I appreciate your kind remarks and this is what my life is so don't know of anything else to write about.  It sounds like your home schooling is going well.

Al, that must be quite a job to walk with a leg that feels like it weighs 500 pounds.  Good to see you posting.

Carol, will it be cooler out there by the time you go camping?

Hope everyone has a good day.  Hi Nards.

Al Moak

Yes Larry, walking with this leg is something else, but the big job is getting up from the chair and taking the first few steps.  I suspect aging as the culprit.

Oh, if I hurry and post this, it will still be morning here in Indiana.

I got my non-glare glass and my picture is hung...after doing it the third time.  I kept putting the glass in wrong and it wasn't non-glare that way.  Finally got it!

Kitty and I had a great time.  We ate at Fazoli's, a fast food pizza place.  Then went to Hobby Lobby.  She is a craft person so she knows what all that stuff at Hobby Lobby.  I love to browse so we both were in our element.  Then we went to North Anderson and looked at a sight that she would like to build on or move their house.  I really don't think moving her house is feasible.  It would have to be cut in four sections!  It not only is long but it is wide...to wide for most streets.  And her husband doesn't want to build.  The lot is a 5-acre lot on a lake.  This is all because an airport is going in and taking their land and house.

Then when we got back to her house, we had us a Diet Coke and some chat time.  She is taking valuim because of TMJ, so she was getting pretty drowsy by the time I left.

Then I was wide awake and saved some PSP Picture Tubes from the net to my desktop.

Hope everyone is super-duper and has a great day.  God Bless!

Hi Neil...  Sounds as if they are into all of these various colours of bags or containers over in England as well.  It's tiring for me.  And all my company have to ask, What Bag does this go in?

Just popping in for a minute as my company is here for the weekend and is napping.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Janet

Hey, Kids!  Did anyone miss me yesterday?  I did pop in and read but didn't post.  The housekeeper employed by the Senior Center had an opening, so she was here for two hours, and got the vacuuming done, swept and mopped the kitchen floor, so I'm feeling better about my house.  It was really starting to bug me, but I didn't want to risk injuring my wrist by doing it myself.

I did do a lot of decluttering, straightening, dusting---all that sort of stuff.  Still have to clean the bathrooms, vanities, mirrors, etc.  But I have this afternoon to do that.  I'm going to get Abby after school and she will help me.

Hey there, Nards! This morning, after Pat did my hair, I took Beth to the Chiropractor, then did some errands, giving away some of the "stuff" I wanted out of my way.  I need to do that with at least a truckload of stuff!

Etta Sue, I learned to hold the glass up to the light and check which is the non-glare side before putting it into the frame.  Saves a lot of redoing, as I'm sure you learned on this project.  I love to browse in Hobby Lobby, too.

Carol, I have been thinking about the woman who didn't lift a finger to help herself, even while you were there doing for her.  That is just WRONG, in my opinion.  Those who won't help themselves are not deserving of being helped, I don't think.  Now, if they are disabled, that is another matter, but that is just plain laziness.  Of course the welfare system just encourages people to be lazy---and dishonest.  (Again--IMO, of course.)  Tell me again where you and Don are going?  Darrel and I are going to Peru in November.

Larry, I always enjoy your posts, and admire you for keeping active, and for helping people.  God bless you.

Hey there, Nards!  Good to "see" you today! :)

Al, hope that "fat" leg of yours gets back to normal soon.

Hi, Jane.  What's happening over in your corner?

Sarah, it is a shame that people want to be dishonest.  Jeff caught someone trying to "string" bills in his car wash in Liberal.  I had never even heard of that before.  Amazing the ways people devise to try to steal money.  And good for you for being tough enough to fire them!  I'm proud of you!

Ruth Ann----where are you?  I miss you!! :(

Ruth Ann Bice

Actually, I'm right here, Janet. I've had a problem having enough time to do what I want to do. Seems not enough time. But, then, I'm feeling better enough that I can take a bit of time to do some cooking for the first time since 2005 when I was in the wheelchair. It's been SO hard to try to stand ong enough to get anything done. And, of course, that's very discouraging, so I've been really dealing with feeling low in spirits. I need to find a CD with the song that restored my spirits after my hubby died. There was a song that meant a lot to me back then, called "In the Valley He Restores My Soul." I think I need to hear it several times.

Then, while down in Atlanta, someone down there made several hurtful statements that I've had to work through. I was only there to help (and they were REALLY grateful for the help), but when I came away feeling so small I could walk upright under a dime on the floor, it will let you know where my spirits have been. :'(

So, I've kinda been hiding out. Yet, someone needs to know so you can support me with prayer. I try to put a good face on in SeniorNet, but it certainly has been hard these last 2-3 weeks.

Yesterday the doc sorta put another crimp in my emotions. My left achilles tendon has been plaguing me for about 2 months, and he said this will be something I'll be dealing with the remainder of my life. Maybe, if God is willing, sometimes I'll be able to wear a shoe - otherwise it will be a velcro walking cast, a plaster cast, or maybe a wheelchair.

I asked about exercising, and he said only on a stationary bike - as little walking as possiible. So, I'll renew my Senior Citizens membership and go there in the evenings after work - the entire year's membership is only about $65 and they have 2 nicely furnished exercise rooms. In fact, one of them has the "curves" type of equipment. And, they're open until 7 pm each night. So, I'll need to scope out when is an appropriate time for me to get there to take advantage of the stationary bikes.

Well - enough down-in-the-hole comments for the evening. One thing I'm SO very grateful for is God's love, it's unchanging, and always there when we need it. Also, He's the Master Healer, and if it's His will, He can make our physical difficulties get better. And, if not, He says for us to cast our cares upon Him, for He cares for us, doesn't He.

Y'all have a good evening. It's so great to get caught up with all the goings-on in here. I really love y'all.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Marilyn

Awww Ruth Ann I will be adding you to my prayer list.

I mowed the  yards today and watered the front yard. The front is so full of gopher holes if anyone knows of something that doesn't cost me anything to do please tell me. Someone at Curves told me to stuff hair in the holes, so I brushed Happy this afternoon and had enough for maybe 3 holes, but that  is nowhere near enough.

I finally got Fay another Caregiver that I think will work out fine for her. They are both from around the same area of Arkansas so they will have lots to talk about.  Sheila will start working for Fay on Monday. Fay and I are going out to eat after I get home from church on Sunday.

Hi everyone.

Ruth Ann I too have been wondering how you were.  Just remember I am praying for all that is surrounding you.

Have to make it quick tonight.  Arm again, was driving and that seems to take a big tole.

Today as we were leaving to go shoppng Mom fell forward and has broken her wrist.  the ambulance arrived at 3:30 and we finally left the hospital at 6:00.  That is actually good for time here, but seemed oh so long.  They did an ecg at my request, (I wanted to make sure that was not the problem), and finally released her with pain meds and a followup in 6 weeks.  Please keep her in prayer as the bruising from the fall will be worse initially than the wrist.  Her spirits are good and she was joking with the medical staff at the hospital.

I have the two grands here this weekend, and what a joy they are.  I told Johnny that when he wakes up to just come down and watch TV till the rest of the house wakes up.  He is an early bird, and is usually so quiet in the mornings for us.

Got to get off here, take care EVERYONE, and have a good God long weekend.
Love JudyB

Father, I pray that You will in some special way place Your Hand upon Ruth Ann.  O Father, I would pray for healing, but mostly i pray for inner strength and grace to live for You even in these circumstances.  Make her know Your Presence and blessing, Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
