Friendship with Jesus is costly.
Faith alone saves,
but saving faith is never alone.
It is always accompanied
by great sacrifices for Christ's sake.

Morning Devotional...
A Woman Anoints Jesus
John 12:1-11 NLT
Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus—the man he had raised from the dead. A dinner was prepared in Jesus' honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate with him. Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus' feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance.
But Judas Iscariot, the disciple who would soon betray him, said, "That perfume was worth a year's wages. It should have been sold and the money given to the poor." Not that he cared for the poor—he was a thief, and since he was in charge of the disciples' money, he often stole some for himself.
Jesus replied, "Leave her alone. She did this in preparation for my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."
When all the people heard of Jesus' arrival, they flocked to see him and also to see Lazarus, the man Jesus had raised from the dead. Then the leading priests decided to kill Lazarus, too, for it was because of him that many of the people had deserted them and believed in Jesus.

This act and Jesus' response to it do not teach us to ignore the poor so we can spend money extravagantly for Christ.
This was a unique act for a specific occasion--an anointing that anticipated Jesus' burial and a public declaration of faith in him as Messiah.
Jesus' words should have taught Judas a valuable lesson about the worth of money. Unfortunately, Judas did not take heed; soon he would sell his Master's life for thirty pieces of silver.

It is the beginning of a new week. I hope I get to enjoy some outside weather and it isn't too hot or too humid. But if I want to see some of the State Fair, then I have to take whatever it is. Just dress cool and comfortable shoes! That's about it. I think Lydia will really like going. She's getting to be a big girl and seemed that she absorbs everything. She told her Grandma (Ivalou) yesterday, 'I will be glad when it is just us here in your house!' I don't know how long she is staying...probably until her Mommy wants her back home or Ivalou thinks it is time to get her back home. She is a cutie, though. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Well I am a right winger living on the left coast! And it's beginning as a sunny and clear-sky day, with the beautiful sun reflecting in here off of the beautiful cedars over the neighbor's place. It looks so fresh, clean, and glorious that it reminds me of my Lord's Presence. Oh may I soon be in that better place!
It will get up to, maybe, 68 degrees today, down to, maybe, 55 tonight. Thank You, Lord Jesus.
I agree with Al it is a glorious day. My heater came on all by itself both yesterday and today. I keep it set between 55 and 60° even inthe summer because it is so damp here and can get pretty cold at night.
I will be leaving for work shortly, so I gotta go now.
Hi everyone. Still battling this summer cold. I didn't get out yesterday and spent the day alternating between the bed and my easychair. I watched a 4 hour golf match, something I haven't done for a long time. Got up and showered this morning and had a pretty good nights sleep but am far from over the cold. Since I started writing I have pick up my rider for coffee and my next door neighbor, who doesn't usually go to coffee. I got along well and felt better by the time I came home about 9 am. I told my wife yesterday I could easily get use to her waiting on me hand and foot and she told me "forget it!". :)
Today is Birthday celebration for members of our Sunday School group. We meet usually once a month and usually at Red Lobster, where we are going today. We decided to meet for lunch rather than evening as the portions are smaller and the prices better and we are all retired so no reason not to do lunch.
Etta Sue, hope you enjoy the fair. I liked your devotional for the week. Your weekend event in the woods sounds like it was a lot of fun.
Ruth Ann, your family sure has more than its share of back problems. Hope this surgery proves beneficial for your DIL.
JudyB, so sad when a little loses his/her life in a swimming pool. The parents will never get over the guilt and anguish that comes with that.
Karmat and Marilyn, a pound lost is much better than a pound gained. Keep up the good work.
Al and Marilyn, we could use some of tha cool weather down this way. Suppose to be up in the 90 here again today.
Yes the little guy was just too fast. Really makes me wonder why there weren't kiddi proof locks on the door...Easy to question, easier and more beneficial to pray.
I GOT MY SEWING MACHINE GOING!!!! There was a dial that had been changed causing the thread to not loop at the bobbin. Silly me I never checked that as it is a control I never change. I did this time.
The weather is wonderful. A nice cool breeze taking the harshness of the heat away. Really nice day. Quiet though, with the girls gone.
Gotta tell you about Dana. Since we had puppies, with Stitches, Dana has become a scardy cat ummm dog. StitchES is in her cage door open by the door. Dana won't go past the cage unless a person is with her. All Stitches has done is look at her and Dana has turned into this great big suck. Stitches can walk around her and she won't react but if she needs out there is no way she will go to the door she will just pace back and forth till someone clues in. She could easily over power the girl but seems that Stitches is the alpha at this time.
Well Larry you take care of yourself. A hot drink of lemon and honey and sweat it out in bed may help. Dad gave me a recipe similar to this many years ago and I have found it works.
The devotional is a good one. Thank you.
Marilyn Those temperatures at night are normal here. John has become accostomed to the heat of the south and when he comes home he starts closing windows. Mom and I go around opening them all as soon as he leaves. No heat on yet.
That is indeed a beautiful picture, one no camera can catch. Nice temperate temperatures too.
Etta Sue enjoy the fair. Ours is Labor Day weekend. I have been once, many years ago, before we moved north. Since we have moved I have not been once. Maybe this year.
Well bye for now, have a God day
JudyB
Hi all. Not very busy here today. I guess everyone is away from their computers for the day.
We were forecast to get up to 67 today, but it is much warmer than that here on the coast. I can imagine what it is inland and down in Calif. I haven't had any heat on for a long while. I closed my bedroom window over the weekend because our company was sitting outside looking for meteor showers at 11 pm, and my dogs were going crazy thinking someone was breaking into our back yard. :) Anyway, it's too warm for it to be closed, so I'm opening it again now.
Judy, that is just so sad about the little boy drowning. I can't imagine the heartbreak and grief that brings. You are right.....we just pray for the family and not get into questions. Don't you just know there are enough questions with the immediate family. There always are when tragedy strikes like this.
I just wanted to check in. I'm ready to take a load from the dryer to fold. God bless, Nita
Lovely day here on the island. Not too hot, not too cold. Downpour yest., so the sunshine is welcome. I actually got outside today. Have been battling a virus for ages now. Granddaughter, daughter, then me. They are better and this person is still not! Something wrong with that picture >:(
Have to get better soon as we are due to go for a dinner at a famous place in Victoria. It was a gift from SIL's family for their 25th anniv. last year....they were going to use it for this year (Wed.) but are waiting for Grandma to get well. Hard to believe another whole year has passed. SIL got tickets for a Vancouver Canucks practice game on Sept. 16th. They sold out in four minutes, so a miracle that he was successful! The four of us are going and it should be a real treat. I haven't been to a game in a long while and never to a practice game. They divide and play each other.
Sorry about your cold, Larry. Especially nasty when the weather is hot.
Terrible about the child drowning in the pool. Wendy saved a little boy from that a number of years ago. Dangerous things, pools without locked gates. The poor parents certainly do need prayer.
Misty and Sqeek have been most attentive during my virus misery. Squeek comes down to check on me during the day. Misty keeps coming in and out....not certain if that is to see me or eat some more food! ;)
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Hi, Kids! I'm back home, good trip, it was for the Reliv International Conference. We had a good time, were also able to spend a night on the way and a night on the way back home with youngest daughter Kerri. Our relationship was strained for a few years, and I am just so thankful to have my daughter back! She lives north of Salina, Ks.
I'm really tired and still not to be using my right hand, so better quit this!
Good to see Iain and Boots back--missed you guys!
I've read all the posts, and it's good to be back.
A lovely thought for the week Etta Sue - thankyou.
Hi Carol, nice to be back with you again.
Can someone please email me with a dinosaurs guide to uploading my photos onto this site.
Listened to a couple of sermons from a Paul Washer (Missionary in Peru) downloaded from Sermon Audio this weekend - he is worth hearing.
Another I would recommend is Dr John R. deWitt.
Every blessing to you all
Iain
:) Morning everyone, where are you all at today? 8)

Good morning. I couldn't get on the net yesterday afternoon, last night or this morning. I called Embarq. They suggested I push the power button on the modem and then back on. Now it works. Seems this happens a lot...have done this 2-3 times now. But I forgot that this might help this time.... :-[
Last evening was Photography Guild. We had 19 people in our guild to enter photos in the State Fair. That is great!
I need to take birthday cards to my nephew today. His 30th birthday was Saturday...same day as FROGGS. But his dad, his brother, a couple of other men and Aaron went to Cincinnati to a Reds baseball game for his birthday. His brother's birthday is today and Sunday their parents had a party for the two of them. Aaron was to stop by here on his way home on his moped if my lights were on. Aaron has no concept of time. He works until 11pm and thinks everyone should be awake until 1 or 2am. So now I need to deliver his cards and a zip lock bag of homemade cookies.
And I got a phone call from Tony and he is coming tonight to fix my tire on my mower and maybe some other things if I can talk him into helping me!!(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)(^)

Hi everyone. I suppose my cold is better but sure don't feel like it. This is one of those days it is hard not to have a tissue in my hand. However, did feel better overall. I ran a couple of errands to Wal-Mart and then to the Credit Union and think tha is it for today. I am eating my lunch of homemade chicken soap and then will rest for a couple of hours and recharge my energy. I did sleep well last night
Janet, glad to see you back home and to know you had such a nice trip, including time with your daughter.
Liz, sure sorry you are still fighting the flu up your way. Hope you are better shortly.
Have read all the other posting here but think I will signoff for today.
GOING HOME
Going home to the glory; my flight it is waiting
Just delayed by hearts' fading beat
When God calls; no hesitating
For I at last my Saviour will meet
Once I heard how much Jesus cared
Claimed Him my Lord in a prayer
Cleansed and ready; my soul is prepared
For Heavens' home and I am going to be there
What glory there; some of it has been told
The tree of life by deep crystal sea
The streets of the city paved with pure gold
And all its splendour is waiting for me
Often in my heart; so deep is a yearning
A longing for Heavens' bright distant shore
The hand of time so swift in its turning
Will stop in its circle and move for me no more
Then I will go; happy in the leaving
The ties of this earth no longer will bind
A mansion in glory; the reward of believing
And the cares of this world left far behind
The blood of Jesus; the fuel for my flying
The fare of my flight bought at great price
He paid for it all in His suffering and dying
And purchase was complete when He did arise
I am but a pilgrim and stranger on this earth
Aimless and restless its paths I will roam
It may know me now this place of my birth
But Heaven is waiting and I am going home
Colin Moffett
Hows it cuttin everyone.....been reading and keeping up with all the news. I see Ian thinks he is living in Gods Holy land north of England...and while he is pretty close..I think he will find it across the Irish sea a little bit in good old N. Ireland and I am also proud to be an Ulster Scot.
Hi to everyone else. Take care. Forgive me if I have posted the above poem before but I just dont remember!! God bless
OK OK Now talking about God's country We here in the north of Ontario Canada is very definitely God's country. LOL
Good to see everyone here, Colin thank you for the poem, Iain thank you for those suggestions. It is wonderful how God gives each of us a specific way to lift His name up?
Janet you really must listen to the doctors. They really do know what they are talking about.
Those of you who are not well, take a tyleonal and a hot drink and see how you feel in the morning. Drink a lot that will help flush the bug away. Sick in summer is never nice....never nice at any time of the year.
Larry you have connenter many times how wonderful it is to teach the girls the joys of country living. It is wonderful for them. BUT last night I was wishing for a city home with a fenced in lot. The dogs all day were restless and barking at butterflies. Something was going on but I had no clue what. Then last nigh Dana decided to chase a skunk and perhaps another animal off the property. Ohhh and then the smell. Thankfully I have a peroxide preparation to clean her up with. Need to pick up the peroxide though.
It is a cool day only about 68*F and last night was quite cool as well. We are beginning to close the windows. Summer isn't over, but winter will be here sooner than I like.
God bless each of you
JudyB
Colin: I so like your poem - going home to the glory.....love that line.
Iain: I don't understand what the arrow thing is under your picture. Please explain. You look younger - must be the water and your lifestyle!!!!
JudyB: Am so glad to read that you have fixed your sewing machine just by turning a dial - maybe one of the little darlings touched it? I always had problems when the children lived in our house as there was one particular son who wouldn't leave that machine alone - threats didn't faze him one bit. Love him dearly but what a pill. It was 41 degree F. here in the mountains the other night but still too hot during daytime.
Question for all in Canada - do you have the dreaded evergreen tree beetle infestation yet? It is a dangerous situation here in Colorado and I see it beginning in the states north. Because of our milder winters, it can't be stopped and I foresee nothing stopping a fierce fire problem at any time. The saddest thing to view - and they say that only a terrific cold snap of below freezing for a few weeks continually will stop the spread - too late for this once beautiful area. Trees are being dropped and you see mountains of rust color. Tree cutters are now making fortunes.
Carol
Ruth Ann: I just had to add this note. You mentioned caring for your DIL after she had a triple fusion on her back. I had the same surgery on the spine by the neck area, they actually went in from the front & I have a little scar. This was over twenty years ago and I can do more work, exercise & lifting that I could during that painful time of a couple of years leading up to the surgery. It will take time for healing but she will be surprised as to how much "younger" she will feel as this mends entirely. You are a lifesaver to go and help. We called my now deceased Sis-inlaw to come to the house to help me after I got home as Don had a brand new job starting the day I had surgery and that weekend, our oldest son had rolled his car & was sore & needed help - it was a the worst of times and the best because neighbors I had never met came with dinners cooked for almost six weeks, my sis-inlaw came & helped me while I was so drugged that I didn't know my children's names and all the family pitched in -
So, you are such an angel to help out your son and DIL. Tell your DIL that everything will be so much better before she knows it. They are blessed to have you.
Carol
Nice Day again....certainly can feel fall in the air now. Misty was bad and stayed out all night. Hope she felt the chill, the little brat! Never thought I would worry so about a cat >:(
Yes, Carol, we do have that problem and it is getting worse as we speak.
British Columbia is currently experiencing a Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) outbreak beyond any bark beetle epidemic recorded in North American history. This eco-system altering epidemic is causing widespread mortality of the lodgepole pine forests, the province's most abundant commercial tree species. At the current rate of spread, 50 per cent of the mature pine will be dead by 2008 and 80 per cent by 2013. The consequences of the epidemic will be felt for decades in British Columbia. The beetle is also posing a real threat to Alberta's lodgepole pine forests and the Jackpine stands of Canada's northern boreal forest.
I guess this is what you also have, from what reports were on the news. Terrible loss and more to come.
Busy day so must go. Virus still making life a problem, nothing seems to work! :-\
Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.
Liz
Yes Liz it is a terrible epidemic, that is moving east. As you said it is into Alberta and although I don't know the time line it should be to us within a few years. The economic repercussions for Canada are huge and for those who make their living in lumber will be devestated. Will a deep freeze help? I don't know.
I am aboutready for school to start, I didn't start the girls as I expected because they were having a blast with the grands and then 2 weeks away at VBS and camp. So I willl start when the schools start.
Must go Waiting for a phone call. The joys of dial up.
JudyB
:) Good morning to all. Ihave been reading over the post's and very interesting. It is so nice to Colin back again please keep those poems coming as they are so good. Nice to also see Ian and Boots.
Etta Sue: Thanks for your good devotional it also was very encouraging it has always been a great story.
Pat; I hope that you are looking after yourself and not overdoing it. Will continue to pray for you.
To all others we should be remembering all those who will be involved in teaching D.V.B.S this next couple of weeks. Pray that many children will understand the gospel and want to accept Christ as there Saviour. God Bless Gord. <3
Hi Folks
Just a quick prayer request for the day. I have a muscle knotted under my sholder blade that is radiating pain down my left arm and into my neck. I have a lot of running around to do so would appreciate your remembering me.
Judy, I just got here. I'm praying as soon as I finish this.
Nita
Hi everyone. Just up from a rest period as was gone all morning. My cold is better but far from gone as still have a bod cough. Fortunately today my nose is behaving and didn't have a problem with a clogged head last night or again just now. It is another very hot and sunny day down here in Georgia.
Nothing else much new here. I still haven't decided whether to try to go to choir practice this evening but all now and leaning toward staying home as not sure I can sign without coughing.
JudyB, hope tha knot goes way quickly.
Ladies, the pine beetle problems up your way sounds terrible. I remember a few years ago when the Duth Elm disease spread through the stately elms.
Gord, our church had Bible School in July as did most of the other churches in the area. Our children have all returned to school now. I learned this morning tha our local elementary school is starting considerably later in the day than the past several years. It certainly has had an effect on the traffic, which was usually terrible when I went to coffee. Now the rush hasn't started yet nor the buses run in our area.
Carol, your recounting of how your family and neighbors helped out when needed after your back surgery reminds me that there are so many good people in this world. Unfortunately, most of what we hear on TV and read in the papers is the negaive and not positive side of people that I believe our thinking is often distorted.
Colin, that is a wonderful poem. Thanks for sharing it with us. I don't remember seeing it before.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FForYou.gif&hash=b8eb5214a3de14c9c94ef39465508435d671758e)
I was here earlier but before I could post, Ivalou and Lydia were here and ready to go to the Indiana State Fair. We missed the rush hour traffic and got to the fair with no traffic problems at all. Lydia did real good other than when Etta Sue had to sit a spell and rest her back. Lots of things to see at the fair and we only saw a tiny bit of it. We were only there three hours and that was about an hour longer than I thought my back would take it. Since I entered photos at the fair, our tickets were free. I have five more free State Fair tickets if anyone wants them!!
Now I feel a nap coming on and this evening Kitty is having a Scrapbooking party. ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FDailys%2FSwct.gif&hash=d1c5f853e38c57440c247e18fa51236aaef75cb0)
Etta Sue, may I crash the scrapbooking party? ;) Such fun! My friend Pat went with me to Liberal today to get my sutures out, and we just took our time and looked at scrapbooking stuff all we wanted!
Dr. Rane said "if it hurts, don't do it!" So my instructions are simple.
I'm tired and need to spend time with my sweetheart. See you later.
Hello Everyone. Janet I am glad to hear you got your stitches out.
Bebe will be having her stitches out on Saturday morning. I also need to get to the lab for some blood work Saturday.
Not much new here today, I filled the trunk of my car up yesterday with the cardboard, newspapers and catalogues so today I went to the recycler and dropped I all off.
The fog was sure thick this morning when we went to Curves but the sun is out now, I just got back from walking both dogs.
TTYL
Just stopping by to check in ... :) I got home about 2 p.m. all safe and sound, but I'll have to come back later to chat longer ..... I'm kinda tard at the moment. :-\
Welcome back, O Jaywalking one!
Carol, so sorry to hear about the awful infestation that is killing the beautiful trees. That is so sad. But your story of how folks pitched in to help you after your back surgery was heartwarming.
Liz, sorry about the trees around your area, too. I hope that nasty bug you had is going away and you feel all better soon.
Larry, sorry about your having a summer cold. Those things really make one feel lousy, hope you feel back to 100% soon!
Mark left for college this morning; Justin started on Monday, Abby starts school tomorrow and Addison on Friday. Summer vacation is over, and I am feeling sad because Abby didn't get to spend nearly as much time as she and I both hoped with us. But at least she lives close enough to visit often. I know lots of grandparents don't have that blessing.
Have any of you ever used Neosporin Scar Patches? Dr. Rane told me to get some at Walmart's, and that they will reduce my pain and make the scars much less noticeable. They are made of silicone. I hadn't heard of them until Mark used them after his burns. Interesting. I got some today. They are pricey, but probably worth it.
She (my Dr.) said I can type and play the piano, but not to overdo it, so I am stopping now.
Hi everyone:
Etta Sue: Thanks for the thought for the week.
Larry: I sure hope you get over that summer cold soon, it may take a week or even 7 days with medication as many say. :D
Janet: I hope you get the use of your right hand without pain soon.
Colin: I enjoyed your poem, I have not heard that one before.
Gord: Good to see your post, like Larry our VBS was in early summer actually the last of June.
Judy B: I do hope your shoulder muscle relaxes soon.
Jay Walker: Since I found you out, just smile like your on candid camera. :D
I am sure most of you remember I am a big fan of Oswald Chambers and the "My Utmost For His Highest" I read it daily.
I am also sure you remember I am not the best on computers and slow about learning.
Tonight I typed in Oswald Chambers on google and guess what came up, the daily reading of "My Utmost For His Highest".
www.rbc.org/utmost/index.php
So now I can flip on it from my computer.
Has anyone heard from Pat lately?
I was wondering about Pat, too.
Jane, you're back! I hope your trip went well and you'll get over your tard soon.
Larry, now you can read it on your computer. I have the book that I read in the morning sometimes. I used to read it every morning and need to start that again. He always gives me something to think about and references to take me to the Bible.
I'm enjoying Pete's Pond again. I watched elephants the other night. I'll have to check the names of all the animals that go there. I saw what looked like a lone jackal too. I'm sure he has a big long name.
Hello all! Still running around like a de-headed chicken. I'm hoping when school starts we will get into some kind of routine and get some stuff done. Well, maybe wishing more than hoping. :)
Janet, glad you are making progress. Take it easy, okay?
ES -- I would love to go to the fair, but that may be quite a commute. Our Mountain State Fair is in about 3 weeks. Our state fair is in Raleight, which is about 5 hours from here. Because it is so "un-central" they started having the Mtn. one for our end of the state a few years back. I've got a couple of pictures I want to enter this year. Not many, though. The only shots they are accepting (which is a big change from the past) are agriculture and farm type shots. I've got a couple, but not much. :(
Take care all!
Good Morning, Good to see those who have been here.
Larry and Janet I hope you are feeling better today.
Karma Get your act together woman! <3
Colin I copied and saved your poem, good to see you here again.
Where is Jeannine hiding?
Jane how was the trip? You must tell us all about it.
Hi Nita, my fellow dog lover. How are the boys? I got my satellite dish so I could watch Animal Planet.
I am trying to keep busy at work, but it is so hard to do. I cleaning and do the chores that need doing as I see them. But I am still doing a lot of just sitting and knitting waiting for the daughter to get home. there is usually something going on every day. The foot Doctor, The Home Health nurse, the Physical therapist, etc. Today it is the latter, she comes twice per week.
Atfe work today My neighbor and friend Mimi is coming over and we are going to shke some branches on my plum tree so we can take some plums to the Senior Center to sha. There are way toom many plums for me to just give them to my neighbors, client and eat them myself. I don't plan on making jam this year.
Y-all have a blessed day now ya hear.
It is early. We had a nice rain shower yesterday and then I looked up our ten-day forecast & it is still much too hot. You may know that dinasaur bones were found just a few blocks from our house and now I am wondering if we are going to go back into that time of tropical vegetation and the ancients will return? Just kidding, this heat won't go away. And, we are cool weather loving people in this house.
Liz: Laughing over your "bratty cat". They can be so obstinate. We would love to have pets but have to settle down first.
Larry: hot & sunny, what a time this year and it looks like everything is changing. Glad that your cold is getting a bit better.
Etta Sue: A state fair sounds so nice and normal to me. Ours is way south of Denver & too hot to even think about. We used to go to the Minnesota fair every year & it was one of the cleanest & nicest I have ever seen - I imagine yours is super nice as well.
Janet: Yes, the help I got was such a surprise because I had a very negative opinion of the yuppies in our area where we lived in Texas - just goes to show that impressions are not always right. Take care now. I hope that your scars are gone soon.
Boots: and Nita: Pat is probably so busy on the SN site. What a job. I hope she doesn't over do.
karmat: I have seen a beheaded chicken - you can't possibly be that nutty.
Gord Brown: I sent you an email - how are you doing after that long trip? Recuperating well? Thanks for the information on O. Chambers.
Gotta go - must do some exercise even though the arthur is hurting.
Carol
Sholder muscle hasn't relaxed yet. Not much sleep, second night in a row.
Staying off the puter as this aggrevates things.

The State Fair was a lot of memories. I used to go every year but I hadn't been all the years I married Bud, since 1969 until going with Ivalou in 1996. To take you back a few years, I saw Bob Hope, Lawrence Welk and the Everly Brothers in the Colliseum. And some car show that the cars rode up ramps and jumped over cars/school buses/trucks at the Grand Stand. I did notice yesterday that there was a lot of new cement around...new and improved State Fair. Yesterday was Purdue University Day so you saw a lot of black and gold with Purdue written somewhere on the shirts.
Lydia was impressed with the Big Cheese...1650 pounds of Indiana Cheddar Cheese that took someone over 24 hours to carve!! It looked like the building it was in.
Yes, the scrapbooking party was fun. My niece, Robin, was the consultant. But I just am not into scrapbooking. For one, I can't see taking a great photo and cutting it up! Another, I take very few people photos. And another, I am fully digital now and don't print photos unless I am entering them in a contest. Now if I had grandchildren I would probably be the biggest duck in the puddle!! I did like the flower cut out thingy but not for $15.95!!
Doing some laundry today and then will probably go visit with Lydia and Ivalou a while. No need to mow the grass...it is almost brown due to lack of rain...my $$ likes that! a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m. a.m. p.m.

Hi everyone. It is another very hot day in Georgia with no rain in sight. It will likely be over 100 degrees again today.
While my cold is better in some ways I still have a very bad cough and seem to be aching again today. Know I need to take some Tylonol for the aches and will shortly eat lunch and rest for awhile. I got to coughing to hard last night that I grabbed my pillow and a couple of quilts and spent the rest of the night in my easychair so Pat could get a good nights sleep. I was able to rest and in fact, overslept and didn't get up until 7:30. I always plan on leaving the house at 7:30 to pick up my friend for coffee so needless to say I didn't have time to shower and shave or eat breakfast. Not a significant thing but I don't like to be late when someone is waiting on me.
Pat is playing Canasta a the county Senior Center this morning. I am so glad to see her doing these things as it indicates she is feeling better. She needs to get out of the house and be around other people and is doing more of that.
Maybe tomorrow I will feel more like writing a longer post but will not make individual comments today.
Good afternoon to all of you. It is nice to read about your daily activities.
This has been quite a week for me. We had a great trip to St. Louis, to the Reliv Conference. I have never seen 7500 people so happy, healthy, helpful and optimistic, all in one group, in my life! Very uplifting.
Beth has expressed a desire to donate her body after death for medical research. So I have been checking into which medical schools, etc. are doing research on Neurofibromatosis, and what the protocols are for whole body donation. Not a fun task for a Mom. So far I haven't found a place that is doing specifically NF research. Of course this all has to be put in place while Beth is living, as after death, the body must reach the facility within 24 hours. It cannot be embalmed, as they use a method not used by funeral homes.
Today was Beth's Care Plan meeting, and she has really been giving everyone fits. Her attitude is just deplorable, and she makes it so hard for her caregivers to please her in any way. I lectured her for a good 30 minutes, with all of the department heads there; don't know if it will help, but we are all so frustrated with her. I know life is so hard for her, but her attitude is making it even harder. :'(
My therapy on my hand wasn't at all bad today. But I'm still not doing much. Thanks for the well wishes.
Larry, hope you get to feeling much better really soon.
Pat? Where are you? We miss you!
Did anyone give Iain the help he asked for re posting photos? I'd love to see his photos. Guess I'd better go have a look and see if he has posted any yet.
Dear Father, Send angels to Beth for comfort and care - we pray for Beth. Carol
I have also prayed for Beth, Janet. Do you think it possible to have someone bring a pet for regular visits? She must miss her little dog terribly and sometimes just giving a hug to a furry critter can help ease the heart. :)
God Bless,
Liz
Good morning all,
Marilyn ~ i'm not hiding, just sitting here in the corner reading and praying for y'all.
Been busy with family and the websites. Have been revamping the church website. Adding things to our own. Just trying to get the Good News out to those who need it. And writing some poetry of my own. Taking pictures for slideshows. All the things God gave me the talents to do and trying to use them for Him. And I start physical therapy for my shoulder today, dont know what it will do for the arthritis but....
Hi to Pat, Larry, Al, Liz, Janet, Iain, Boots, Colin, Etta Sue, Carol, Nita, and goodness knows who else I dont remember names for, I am reading and praying.
WHEN IT SEEMS YOU DON'T CARE
What to do when it seems you don't care?
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Sometimes that's how you will feel
When others don't seem to share your zeal
You try and try until you are ready to cry
And then you stop and wonder why
That's when you should walk away
And seriously begin to pray
Take your burden to the Lord
A little time you can afford
To see His will in your life
Take time away from the strife
Stop and look around
Is what you are trying to do sound?
Have you asked the Lord His will?
Or are you doing your own will still
Honestly ask Him to guide you
He is faithful and will see you through
For when you try to go it alone
To frustration and anger you will be prone
Jeannine Faith
May you all have a God filled and blessed day.
In His Love,
><>Jeannine
Jeannine: Such a lovely morning poem. It is good to see you posting.
:coffee: I am trying to be a little quiet as Don is snoozing a little longer. I have to take all the dishes and so forth out of the dining area a we will move furniture to the middle as one son is arriving Sat morning to paint living, dining, open area to downstairs and hallway. He is staying for the weekend. We bought 6 gallons of paint - a Gobi Desert color and I had it lightened just a tad. It is a warm color and will set off the brick fireplace area so nicely.
Larry: I see that you can pull yourself together from this cold to get out there for coffee with the guys ;) that always makes a person feel better.
Gord Brown: Thanks for the site to look over for our trip.
JudyB: Did you sleep well finally last night? Home schooling started? I only ask because I know someone who is home schooling & she starts after Labor Day here while our state has school beginning today for some children.
Marilyn: We will have a visiting dog this weekend - his name is Loki (Norse for God of Trickery). He is a mix rescue & was supposed to be part Rotweiler, but we don't think so - if he is good, he gets to stay overnight. Phil & Beth's dog. We can take him to the dog park just a few blocks away. Out of all of children's dogs, this one is my favorite but I can't tell anyone or their noses would be out of joint ;D I just have to cut and sew on two more borders for this last quilt then am taking it to be machine quilted.
Will be busy this weekend - Saturday, oldest son & family driving back from Montana and they always drive straight-through - they have had smoke in the area the entire time from a pretty large fire north of their place. Disturbing to say the least.
Good weekend to all, Carol
Hi everyone. Just back from coffee a the senior center. About the only thing on my schedule today is to get to the Post Office to mail a birthday present our youngest great grandson.
I spent the last 6 hours of the night sleeping in my easy chair as couldn't stop coughing while laying in bed. I did get a good nights sleep but the cough is back this morning. I think this is day 8 of this cold.
Janet, my heart goes out to you for having to be the one to make the calls. However, it is truly an act of love to help Beth do something she can't do for herself. I have to think her behavior must come from great fear and the probably unrelenting pain tha goes with her disease. I would expect that she doesn't like her own behavior either but must express her frustrations and fears. Take care of yourself or you will not be able to help her where it is appropriate. I am sure she is not the first patient they have had who expressed these feelings and frustrations nor will she be the last. This is when true compassion is seen in action to love when the actions and words are unlovable. I hope this doesn't sound preachy as I sure don't have any wisdon this matter and sure feel for you all.
Jeannine, hope your physical therapy does a lot of good for you and doesn't agravate your other ailments.
Carol, it sounds like you all will have a busy weekend.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Janet, My thoughts and prayers are with you and Beth. I know that has to be a terribly heavy burden to bear.
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FGarfieldsleeping.gif&hash=106eedadd896161f207c6c56fa04aec076431fd5)
Janet ~ Prayers are for you and Beth. I can't imagine what Beth is going through. She deserves to be a little testy. She needs reassurance that she is loved in spite of her moods. I remember my Mom asking me to pick her up and put her in a chair which I couldn't do. When I got ready to leave that evening, I told her 'I love you'. She said, 'I love you, too. But you still made me mad'. I will always remember that. Just like unruly kids...you love them in spite of themselves. And as for donation of her body...I think that is a wonderful thing. Perhaps using her body would help the medical field to find a cure/cause for NF. And she will know that her body helped because she will be in heaven watching all the world. I have had my eyes donated for eons! Wonderful to think that my eye donation could allow a blind person to see! Does she still talk to John?
Today is a do nothing day. Seems I have a few of them and I love it! Need to go talk to Lydia. Yesterday she was watching a movie and told her Grandma and I to go in the living room and talk...she couldn't hear her movie!
God Bless each and everyone of You!>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<>^<+>^<

Good late morning to everyone.
Marilyn, You're right, of course. I'd forgotten that Pat was busy with the moving of Seniornet to the new site. What a lot of work that is. I think of that work.......and they are just volunteers. I applaud the hosts and movers and shakers over there.
I'd love to have Animal Planet. I used to watch it all the time when I had a dish. That's just way over my budget, so with air reception only, I don't get many animal shows. I'm glad you have it, Marilyn. I know you must enjoy it immensely. :)
We had a spattering of rain last night and earlier today. It wasn't enough to water everything, and will soon be dry. I need to get some gas to mow some weeds in the back yard. I don't water the grass in the summer, so it isn't growing, but the weeds do fantastically well.
Janet, my heart just hurts for you. I know your feelings run the gamut from wanting to shake her to feeling such compassion and pain you feel like your heart will break with the load. There's only one way to carry such pain, and I know you give it to Him over and over. You help Beth, as best you can, and know in your heart she has to be where she is. You're mom, honey..but you're not Beth. You can feel bad at the way she treats the staff when she's losing it, but you can't take responsibility. I think you know that. And you can't be responsible for her pain. God made Beth, just the way he made Beth's mom. And He is responsible. And God takes responsibility. These are just a bunch of words.....and I can't even imagine what you're going through, but I care. :'(
Larry, that old cold is really hanging on. I'm sorry you're feeling bad.
Hi to all. I've read all the posts. Oh, Jeanine, I love your poem!
My dear friends--thank you for allowing me to vent here, and for your compassionate comments. Even though they make me cry, it helps me to see things more clearly and also to feel better.
They worked with Beth from 1 until after 5 yesterday, trying to get her bowels to move. She hadn't had a BM in over a week! :P No wonder she was miserable. After 5 they called me, they (nurses) were at the end of their rope, said she wasn't cooperating. They gave her three enemas, to no avail. They called her doctor, he said just keep giving her the laxatives and wait another day or two. :o So this morning I went to see her, still nothing; but this afternoon when Darrel and I went to take her several gallons of well water, she had had success. Thank God! I know this is not a pleasant subject, but it does help to understand her situation.
The ladies of my church are having a "Girls' Night Out tonight, and the theme is God Has a Crush on You! (From the Orange Crush commercials, I think.) We are to wear orange, and bring something orange to eat. I have copper penny salad, and will cut up some cantaloupe. Should be fun! Oh, I may stop at the store and get some barbecue potato chips, too, those are orange! ;)
Talk to you later! And thanks again, it helps to know I have friends who care and who pray.
{{{{hugs}}}} to you Janet! Hang in there. The orange theme sounds like fun. Wonder if I could convince the ladies at my church to do something like that? Guess there's only one way to find out! :P
It was fun, Karma! We played some really fun games, too--and I won an orange Crush baseball cap. ;) They had a pile of "stuff", some of which I have no idea the use for; and we had teams of two, and picked them up and thought of "uses" for them. Kind of hard to explain in words, but really fun.
Those scar patches are almost miraculous! My incisions are already looking as if my surgery was two months ago, and I just got the stitches out two days ago! Amazing.
I'm headed to bed, tomorrow is scrapbooking day. Yippee!! My hand isn't up to doing a lot, so I'm taking card making materials and will make cards. I need to get back to work on my scrapbooks as soon as my hand will permit, I'm getting behind.
;D Hi to all and have been reading all the post's and also the poem's thank you for your encouragement.
Thank you for your prayers for my wife as some of her medical problems are getting better but please do not stop as she still has her back problems and there is only one cure for that and it would be a miracle performed by the Lord.
I am not sure if I asked you to also pray for my daughter and husband as they are about to have there first child. But my daughter is retaining a lot of fluid and she is very uncomfortable and she works a long way from home so I value your prayers for them.
Our young peoples and other members from our church are doing something very special tomorrow and the money that they get from sponsership is going to poverty and other groups are doing it for other reasons. They are going to skydive and even my senior pastor is going heis 58 and there is a woman who was written in the local newspaper and she is 81 years old and it is her second time. So please also pray for these people that they will be safe but that most of all a witness to our city.
Well I must get of to sleep Have a great weekend and God Bless. <3

Sarah
Janet, the bowel problem is the number one problem, I've heard, for those bed bound. I'm glad things came out alright. :)
Hi everyone. I think I am much better this morning as was able to ge a full nights rest in bed and while I have been coughing this morning it seems to be less tight. Should have a better feel for the situation by the end of the day. Just know I sure didn't feel up to par yeserday.
Janet, I remember my dad experiencing the same problem while in the hospital and nursing home. No wonder she was grouchy and short-tempered. Glad you had such a fun time at the orange crush party. It is good for you to be among friends and to laugh as that helps maintain a balance in life when it may seem to be totally over balanced and over burdened. Hope Darrel is doing well.
Sarah, you are really one busy young lady. You must have to keep a day book to keep track of where you are suppose to be. Hope you also schedule some time in your day for friends and yourself as that is so important.
Gord, it sounds like your family is growing and sure hope all goes well for your daughter and the new baby. I take it tha you are not among the jumpers? :)
Niita, we had some thunder off and on during the evening but don't think we had a drop of rain. When my dad was so ill in the hospital and then the nursing homes for about 18 months he had the Animal Planet on TV sometimes around the clock. Of course, he slept a lot so missed a lot of what was telecast. I have to admit that I sort of got burned out on it after sitting with him hour after hour and really haven't watched it much since them. In the last few weeks I have really been enjoying some of the evening programs on the History and History International Channels.
Etta Sue, the little ones say what they are thinking. That was so cute. Did you go into the other room to talk after she asked you to do so? :) Like you I enjoy those "do nothing" days once in a while. I know we would soon tire of not having something on the calendar to do but we need an occasional break.
Hope everyone has a good day.
It is a beautiful morning here and we are expecting son sometime this morning as he is going to paint so much for us. I finished the top for a quilt and we drove it over to the couple who will use their massive sewing machine to stitch it to the batting and backing. We mentioned dinnertime and they wanted to go to dinner with us - had a fun visit. He is the one who quilts because of cancer could not continue his job and now keeps very busy doing lovely work with a computerized quilting machine.
Janet: So many worries for you, it is good that you have a place to vent - right here for sure. Perhaps the diet for Beth needs some changes because that is really dangerous.
You know that the Orange Crush is the name of a football team in CO? They are not NFL, but something else. What a neat idea.
Pat: If you have a minute to come in here, I hope that you are not overdoing with all this extra volunteer work on SN. Take care.
Gord Brown: Prayers for your daughter as well. How well I remember those days and summertime isn't easy.
Marilyn: Just saying hello to you at least today.
Larry: Glad to read that your cough is lessening a bit. I hope that your weather is cooling a bit - we have had a little bit of rain here & today perhaps more.
Sarah: You have a lot on your plate, Larry is right to tell you to stop and smell the roses a little too, some short time for yourself at least. Speaking from aged experience here.
Our friends are back from Peru - not one word of what they went through yet, we are anxious to hear. We are happy they are back safe and sound.
Carol
Good Morning. I have been getting a few things done this morning, more that I thought I would. It is only 7:41 here on the west coast and I have already stripped and turned my mattress, cleaned and soaked in vinegar my Cpap mask, tubing, and reservoir. Cooked the dogs food for the next week and cleaned up dishes from that, taken my shower and had my breakfast.
I am taking Bebe to the Vet at 9am to have her stitches out, then I will come back and roll my hair hoping that it will have some curl when I take out the rollers about 1pm to get ready for the wedding. In the meantime I want to get in a walk with the dogs, if I can't I will do it this evening.
Hello to everyone. Carol glad to hear that you have some on to do the machine quilting on the huge quilt. I have stitched on the ditch a quilt on my machine y rolling the quilt very tightly to get it under the arm on machine. I start on one side and go part way the turn it around to the other edge an roll it again. It is not easy as you well know.
Larry glad you are feeling better today.
Janet it sounds like you has some fun and also got some stress relief but going to the Orange party at church.
Hi Nita How are the boys?

Once again...my favorite animation above. Stop and look at it a few seconds, okay?
I just got an email from Kitty...she is wanting to purchase an external hard drive for her desktop or laptop...not sure which. I guess if it is external, she can use it for both. She also wants to purchase some green material to use for a backdrop for photography.
I have already gotten a visitor this morning. My front doorbell rang...no one goes to my front door that knows me. I opened it and a man was standing there. He said he seals blacktops and said my blacktop needed sealing. I told him I have someone who seals my blacktop and will contact him. I thanked him but said 'No'. Then he went to Ivalou's and then Kaye Don's. Every year we have these men come around to seal driveways. Most are scams. Tony let one seal his and it was terrible. The black got on your shoes and you tracked it in and it was lumpy and uneven on the drives. So everyone is leery of someone coming to your door to seal your blacktops.
I read all the posts but I am in a hurry so won't comment on each today. Just pray that everyone has a God blessed day.(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi195.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz77%2FEttaSue%2FCP%2FAnis%2FFootprints.gif&hash=44496580d083bac067afa63bf86e200c298046a8)

Hello my dear friends...
This is really me checking in.
It's been an absolutely unreal few weeks. SeniorNet has gone from the old WebX software that they have had since 1996 to the same software as this and the hosts on there have been very, very busy with the area that we look after.
Yesterday was the big opening as many of you know and each of the discussions on the old SN had to have a link put in them to the new topic on the new site. Yesterday about 500 discussions were opened to the public!!!
It was actually non-stop.
Now, besides that, in the last two weeks, I've had two friends pass away and Ian's father-in-law had brain surgery this week on a malignant tumor the size of a tennis ball and they couldn't remove all of it and that's not good news so I may have to head to Ottawa.
All of this has left me feeling rather "down" and my bedroom is just looking so comfortable right now. It's awful when you start to feel this way and you don't want to go outside.
Today is a very close friend's 50th Wedding Anniversary but I've decided that I won't be travelling to Aurora to attend this function.
Anyway, enough about me.
I've read all the posts in here and I will continue to pray for one and all.
So sorry about Beth, Janet.
With the way I've been feeling lately, the following sure lifted my spirits today when I read my email:
LET US ... ENTER THAT REST
"Now we who have believed enter that rest." Hebrews 4: 3
The Word has "golden nuggets' of truth and principles we often rush through, when we need to stop and quietly walk through these 'rich pastures' and feed our souls upon the many provisions of His grace. "Let us ... enter that rest."
What do you think it means to "believe in God?" It involves unreserved trust ... a full conscious commitment ... one who relies completely on God ... one who adheres to the truth without question. Our belief in God is the result of the Holy Spirit drawing us unto Him, and a child-like faith [that is, we lean upon God with our entire personality in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and grace, that finds its validity in the sterling majestic character of God].
Many of God's promises are conditional and are contingent upon our appropriating them in simple faith and meet the conditions given. Isaiah spoke of this "rest wherewith you may cause the weary to rest ... and this is the refreshing." [Isa. 28: 12] It is the "rest' that comes to us when we turn from the weariness of 'our' sin, from the hopelessness of 'our' walk, and the fruitlessness of 'our' efforts. We can only be reconciled to God and find HIS "rest" through the Atonement of Christ...(His sacrificial death upon the Cross for our sins). Unbelief is seen in the many erroneous ways man improvises to gain favor with God, rather than accepting by faith, the ONLY WAY God has provided ... through Jesus Christ, His Son, Our Savior.
How precious is this "rest." It is knowing the reality of His care, His comfort, and His companionship. His "rest" invades our life as we claim and appropriate the promises He has given. David knew of this wonderful "rest' as he writes in Ps. 23 ... "He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters, he restores my soul." Such a blessed "rest" is ours as we accept the truth of His Word and apply it in believing faith in practical everyday life. His truth is simple, yet profound. To know His "rest" ... is to rest in Him!
But God's "rest" is not arbitrarily given to all Believers. We cannot presume upon the grace of God. We cannot behave inconsistently and disrespectfully to the principles and truth of God's Word and expect God to overlook the sin of such a life. He will not give unto us "His rest" when our walk is characterized in such a manner.
God is merciful and will forgive all who will come in repentance and be restored. The Psalmist experienced this ... "The sorrows of death compassed me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then I called upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and he helped me ... RETURN UNTO THY REST ... O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. [Ps. 116: 1-7]
Do not be disillusioned by man's erroneous teaching or by the deceitfulness of your heart. Only God can impart the "rest" your soul longs for. Jesus said, "Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." [Matt. 11:28-30]
Have you claimed this "rest' that is yours in Christ? Dare to Believe!

{{{hugs}}} to you Pat. I'm sorry about Iain's FIL. I'll be prayng for him. Good to see you checking in. Things are fine here, :)
We are taking the kids to see a Magic School Bus exhibit today. They are looking forward to it. The MSB is a cartoon/book series that has a class taking "field trips" with their teacher Ms. Frizzle. It's pretty cool and educational.
Bernard rearranged the living room this morning. he does that periodically. If it were up to me, the furniture would NEVER move!
Have a good day, all!
Karma, Bernard must be feeling good if he's moving heavy furniture around. In most families, it is the husband who doesn't want things changed around in the house!
Good to have you back, Pat! I hope I can start going to Sr. Net again; haven't been able to get it for a long time now. Maybe you can send me a link, and I can re-register or something.
I'm really tired tonight, spent from 9-6 at the library with my scrapbooking friends. I made a dozen cards.
Larry, glad to hear you are feeling better.
Etta Sue, another scam is those guys coming around wanting to paint your roof. If you let them do it, the first good rain you get, the so-called paint washes off. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone were honest? But it just isn't so.
Carol, I hadn't heard of the Orange Crush team. Glad you had a lovely day, and how nice to eat with friends and enjoy a good visit.
Hey there, Sarah! Which store are you managing, Keyes or Boise City? Maybe Keyes doesn't even have a Hut, been a long time since I was down that way.
Wal*Mart is looking at Ulysses and may be putting in a super center here. Lots of mixed feelings about that--some are delighted, others very concerned about the impact on the small stores we have, especially concerned that one of our grocery stores may go out of business. Time will tell, I guess. Hugoton is getting a 300 million dollar cellulosic ethanol plant, so they are excited about that.
I'm going to go vegetate for a while! ^-^
It's just seniornet.org Janet and click "Register". Try "Janet" or "JanetD" On there they have it set up that you can't have any spaces in your name. ???
I am actually over the elkhart store.... its been well a challenge not necessarily good or bad you know just feeling the ropes right now.... trying to get things organized and straightened out to STOP THE COMPLAINTS :S..... there have been quite a few some very very bad ones to but right now time will tell... the old RGM is not happy and keeps trying to put problems in for me (forgetting to put the deposit in the computer you know silly things)... anyways i must be off here to go find out what all is going on (and get some supper :S) adios for now
Sarah
I am checking in really late.
My arm has really been giving trouble. There doesn't seem to be much that I can do to kill the pain, and there is no sense going to the doctor for stronger pain killers as they would be narcotics and I have a strong adverse reaction to them. So I am just praying this will let up soon.
The girls had a wonderful time at camp. New friends and lots of Boble as well as activities. Still they were excites to come home.
Must go. God Bless
We were sleeping so hard last night and I woke to a beep beep - I woke Don and got him out of bed to stand on a little foot stool & he took the smoke alarm apart, still a beep started again & we (in our groggy minds) realized it was the carbon monoxide alarm so we took the battery out. Popped a breakfast casserole in the oven this morning, they are nice to make ahead of time & so - the entire area is taped and most edges painted.
Pat: That was and probably still will be a tremendous amount of work and I am so sorry to read that you are having a down day and that happens after a big work time. I do the same thing, and probably at best when things are so much work. But that is not good news at all for Iain's wife's father. Tough to bear that load.
JudyB: Sorry about the pain in your arm and how it must be so difficult right now. Maybe there is a salve of some kind to help & if that doesn't simmer down in a short while, maybe it needs to be looked into by the doc.
Carol
Hi everyone. Have a few minutes before we leave for church. I am going to try to sing in the choir this morning as my cough isn't constant and think my voice is back as the cold is now in my chest. It is another hot and humid day here in Georgia and very dry. After church we will probably go out to lunch with our church friends. This is always enjoyable. Then will come home and try to stay cool.
We had a call from our housekeeper this morning saying she won't be here for awhile as has had a couple of seizures (has had these before) and probably a nervous breakdown. She has a lot of tough things going on in her life. We aren't concerned about the house but certainly about her and hope she finds the help and relief she needs.
Pat, it sounds like you have about broken down your treadmill of online work with all you do. I had to be thankful that I was no longer involved as a host or discussion leader on SeniorNet when I saw all the work involved with the move. I remember a few other chances we went through over the years.
Carol, your talking about the man who had taken up the quilting when no longer able to do other work fits right in with a little audio tape we listened to yesterday called "Who Moved My Cheese". It is a great little story that has some wonderful life lessons about adapting to change. The book and audio has been around for a long time.
JudyB, hope the arm pain will soon so away. Glad your girls had such a nice camping experience.
Sarah, unfortunately not all managers are willing to accept the responsibility tha goes with their jobs and look for someone else to blame rather than using problems as opportunities for training and learning. It sounds like you have your head on squarely and will be fine. Don't accept unwarranted criticsm and if it is deserved learn from it so that you won't have to repeat it.
Janet, progress is inevitible as we must change or we will die and that goes for towns and communities as well as people. Wal-Mart and other stores of the type wouldn't flourish if the citizens didn't shop there because they gain something from it. It may not be the way we want things to be but it will happen regardless. It sounds like you enjoyed your card making at the library.
Karmat, the Magic School Bus sounds like a great thing.
Etta Sue, it is a good idea never to let these people who come to the door selling things get your business unless you know who they are. Girl Scouts seeling cookies and the neighbor children are the exceptions in my book.
Marilyn, it sounds like you were a dynamo yesterday with all that you got done.
Hope this is a good day for everyone.
Good Morning. I am so grateful that today is a No Work for me day. Not housework , not regular going to work, no yard work, no shopping, just taking the dogs for their walks (providing that this drizzle doesn't turn into rain), and fixing myself something to eat and relaxing. Thank you Jesus that Sunday is a day of rest. I really prefer to get everything done during the week so Saturday can be the day of rest, since I am at church twice on Sunday doing all kinds of stuff there.
The wedding yesterday was not traditional in many ways The music was country songs not the wedding march or the usual songs sung at weddings. The Cake was a one layer Cheese cake for the Bridal party and the other two cakes were white cake and carrot cake. The bride was given away by both her father and step father. Her dress was traditional and the bridesmaids wore dresses that each were different and all were red. he groomsmen wore all black with red ties and the groom in all black with a grey tie, no suits just dress pants with shirt and tie.The brides colors were Red and Black. I helped in the kitchen as I usually do at all of the church functions or gatherings.
Carol I asked you a question on SN and now I can't find where it was. I will eventually.
Pat Gyp is so cute I think Borders have such expressive faces.
Well I better go use my curling iron and fix my hair for church.
TTYL
Marilyn, that sure sounds like a different wedding for sure. I pray that the married couple will be happy in their new life.
Judy, I'm so sorry about your arm. Did John massage it for you? He's so good at that.
It really is nice to read all of your posts.
I'd like to go for a wee walk today with my camera somewhere quiet and I just might do that.

Pat ~ I wish we lived closer and you could come down here. Believe me, there is nothing to do her but watch the grass grow and as dry as it is, the grass isn't even growing!!
I read my morning devotions this morning and at the bottom of the page stated God makes ordinary into extraordinary. Guess what our sermons were about? God making the ordinary extraordinary! Both sermons were superb! Think about that. He took a stuttering murderer to present the 10 commandments to the Israelites. And when Goliath threatened the Israelites, who did God send...a small boy with stones and a sling to kill Goliath, the Palestine.
Then I couldn't decide where to have lunch. I put gas in the car and next door was a Mexican restaurant. Even though Kitty and I had a Supreme Nacho last evening, today I had a Hot and Spicy Burrito. Totally different in flavor and soooo good.
I wish I would get over this not sleeping good the night before church. I was late when I turned the light off...way past midnight. And I woke this morning around 5am and really didn't back to a good sound sleep after that. So I feel a nap coming on this afternoon.<_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_><_>

JudyB, I can certainly sympathize with your having arm pain! I had 5 different things wrong with my right arm, all at once. Since the surgery to correct 2 of them, it is better, but still having considerable pain. Like you, I do not want to rely on pain meds. I am, however, still taking the Darvocet or in lieu of that, Ibuprofen. Hope your arm feels better soon.
Thanks, Pat, I will go check SrNet out again. I can't spend much time on the computer, too painful, also too much else demanding my time and attention that I feel is more profitable.
Larry, How did the singing go today? Good to hear you are better.
Etta Sue, I'm still not sleeping well, either. I was awake every hour last night, either from pain or need to go to the bathroom. So a nap sounds very tempting to me, as well.
Our sermon today was on Finishing the Race. It was good. Our pastor and wife told us they are wanting to adopt a 3 year old boy from Ethiopia. They showed a photo of him. They have 3 young children of their own.
Marilyn, that wedding does sound different, but individualized to fit the couple. I hope both are Christians and will center their life around Him.
Sarah, I thought about Elkhart, too, just didn't mention it. I hope things smooth out for you. That's a big responsibility for you along with your college work. Are you still working as an EMT? Are you a Junior in college this year?
Carol, glad it wasn't carbon monoxide and that you are both all right!
I hope this works----it's been a while!
