Morning Devotional...

The Holy Spirit: Holiness and Worship First

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,...that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:5-7

To teach that the filling with the Holy Spirit is given to the Christian to provide "power for service" is to teach truth, but not the whole truth. Power for service is but one effect of the experience, and I do not hesitate to say that it is the least of several effects. It is least for the very reason that it touches service, presumably service to mankind; and contrary to the popular belief, "to serve this present age" is not the Christian's first duty nor the chief end of man....

The primary work of the Holy Spirit is to restore the lost soul to intimate fellowship with God through the washing of regeneration.... God wants worshipers before workers; indeed the only acceptable workers are those who have learned the lost art of worship. It is inconceivable that a sovereign and holy God should be so hard up for workers that He would press into service anyone who had been empowered regardless of his moral qualifications. The very stones would praise Him if the need arose and a thousand legions of angels would leap to do His will.

Gifts and power for service the Spirit surely desires to impart; but holiness and spiritual worship come first.
Dr. Tozer is...That Incredible Christian, 36-37.

"Oh, Lord, where has the hunger for holiness gone? We're such active doers; we're so enamored of activity; we're so focused on growth. We desperately need this reminder of the priority of holiness and spiritual worship. Amen."

Hard to believe I'm first this morning!  Good thoughts from Tozer on the Holy Spirit, Pat.  Yes, we need to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Here it is another new week.  How will we invest in His kingdom this week?  Will we be busy about things that are wood, hay and stubble?  Or will we be about worshipping Him Him in Spirit and in truth, digging into the Word and becoming more intimate with our loving Lord?  Thanks, Pat.  I, for one, need to be reminded often that most of the things we stay so busy doing have no eternal significance.

I shall return later.

As always, Pat, Mr. Tozer hits it right on the head.  I fear that many desire power for service so that they may be seen to have power and nothing more.  But oh how important and delightful it is to have an increasingly worshipful spirit!  Oh baptize us anew, Holy Spirit!

For any who might be interested, we had an earthquake early this morning (4:20AM).  It was 5.4 in intensity and was centered about 15 miles off the coast.  No damage, etc. as far as I know.

Good morning, everyone.  Karma has woken up with a migraine and some pretty bad nausea; sounds a little bit like what has been bugging me for the past month.  We both appreciate your prayers.

I've got a doc appt next Tuesday to try to get to the bottom of whatever is wrong with me.  I'm coming up on a really stressful, busy time at work, and I'm very concerned about my ability to handle what I've got to handle in my present shape.  So, again, your prayers are appreciated.

Really hope all of you have a good day.  :)

Hi everyone...nice devotional Pat. Nice to see you back Janet. Hello to everyone else...have read all your posts. Not that well myself..hope I am not taking the flu. Have to go for another blood test..hate needles...wrote a poem about it..but it is stored in another computer so I will post it sometime again. Must go for a lie down...someone was very bossy and told me to do that for my healths sake so I had better obey. I said....ok hen...that really put her into a fowl mood. :uglystupid: Too tired to gipe!

A SCRUFFY PUP

He was just a scruffy pup
Just as little dog growing up
He chased the butterflies in the air
And frolicked around without a care

Mischief was his middle name
But his mother loved him just the same
She looked at him with doggy pride
As he scampered by her side

But he runs from her just too far
And did not see the speeding car
It hit him on his little head
And the young pup lies still and dead

His mother looks with anxious eyes
And licks his face where he lies
She mourns and cries and gives a sniff
But her son lies there going stiff

No movement from his little tail
She lifts her head and begins to wail
And cries so long through the day
Still sobbing there when daylight fades away

She lies beside him all the night
Hoping he would awake and be all right
But at the breaking of the dawn
She knows all hope for him has gone

But great the love of a mother's heart
And from his side she did not want to part
She strokes his body with her paw
And licks again his broken jaw

And in her sorrow she walks away
From her bundle of mischief where he lay
With tear filled eyes she did not get far
For she did not see the speeding car

Now that I have reduced you all to tears...I am away! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Good Morning

Nards sorry to hear that you have been sick and now Karma is too.

Nothing new here yet today. I have been to workout andnow  am ready for work. The Home Health nurse called me yesterday while I was in church on my cell phone, to tell me they are putting Ruth on anti anxiety pills. Oh my like she needs to be taking more pills. I am taking her to the Dr tomorrow and will be discussing this wth him.

Colin, you sure do know how to put words together that tug on the heart strings.  Thanks for the puppy poem.  And thanks for the welcome home, too.

I have received word of the sudden death of a painting friend.  :'(   I don't know the cause, she died at home.  Her funeral is today, so I will be going to meet another painting buddy and travel to Jetmore to the service.

Since I will be away this afternoon, my piano teacher is allowing me to come for my lesson tomorrow.  She's a gem!

Nothing else of note here.  Darrel has gone on a trouble call, and I have the laundry all done, so I will be ready to leave here in about an hour or less to meet my friend.  I wish you all a wonderful day.

Pat:  I really liked the message from Tozer.  It just seems that everyone has to speak real quickly about their activities & work.  It is wonderful to do good works and there should be time for quiet and meditation as well.  In this time of Lenten services, this is the tone of which I wish more of our church services would be like all year round.  They are quiet and reflective and so refreshing to my soul.

Don is taking a morning nap.  Both of us have cartoid artery scans at 11:15 and we are so thirsty and hungry so will run and get a breakfast as soon as the tests are over.  This is something we are paying for - have never had it done before.  The stomach area is tested as well.  Times like this make a person really thankful for a cup of coffee and piece of toast.  A scone would be very nice.

Janet:  and Al:  We had to stop near the Kansas border while returning from our trip to Texas - it is not the first time we have had to pull off the road for weather.  We always seem to find a motel in the nick of time.....angels are doing their best for us & you too!!!!!!

About an hour from now I should be able to get something to drink....

Carol

Hi everyone.  I have let the day get away and really haven't accomplished very much.  I spent all morning gathering information on my options for getting rid of Comcast.  It is going to cost me a little more but am going to get a regular telephone line for local service and go back to DSL but it will be at about the speed of the cable.  I checked and will be able to continue to use my VOIP service for long distance.  Awaiting a call from my son to discuss a couple of things before placing the order, except I have it set up to install the satellite TV service on Friday.

I can't recall that we have ever been stranded while traveling.  It sounds like we have been fortunate since so many of you have had these experiences.

Marilyn, it almost sounds like Ruth is reaching the point of no longer being capable of living alone.

Al, glad to read that you had no damage from the earthquake.

We had a very nice time last night with our Talent Supper/Chili Show.  We had lot of chili and hotdogs.  I opened the hotdog packages and we must have had about 30 pounds and huge pots of chili.  There were over 200 people in attendance and we had some very nice talents from among our congregation.  There is a freewill offering taken to benefit the choir and it was over $600.  However, that is not the purpose of the event.

Hope those that are not feeling well will soon be better.  My wife is still not feeling at all well, although the cold seems to be better.  Fortunately we have some leftovers from Saturday night to have for dinner tonight.

The lady was here a little bit ago  to finish the repairs on our refrigerator.  Any appliance repair is expensive but we must have a refrigerator.

Pat, thanks for the devotional for this week.

Oh, Colin.  I love dogs, my two boys can attest to that, and your poem made me teary.  You did that on purpose!!

I posted a new profile photo of myself.  It's been too rainy to get out so I have been shooting myself.  I decided to have some fun. :)  I usually don't like my picture taken.  I can't take a good one, so I decided to take a funny one.

Marilyn, I feel bad for Ruth.  It does seem she is nearing not being able to be alone.  It must be so terrible to be frightened, scared, and wanting to do the right thing...ie, "shall I call an ambulance, or shall I call Marilyn?"   She needs to feel secure, somehow.   You probably worry about her on your days off, huh?

I've been quiet but ok.  I come in often and read, but have nothing much to say.  I like reading what you all are saying. :)

Pat, Brother Tozer is always so relevant to the hearts of believers, yesterday and today.  I was thinking about that.  I know my faith isn't always where it should be in walking out the Word, but I know my heart is His.  I believe service should only be an overflowing of worship.  I remember one time, during prayer, that Lord spoke to me that the overflow is what I can give away. The only way I can have an overflow is if I spend intimate time with the Lord...filled to overflowing.  If I give before that, I am only giving myself and not the heart of God.  That's been true in my walk.  I've tried, and messed up a lot, giving out of my own nature and thinking it was God's heart.  It usually ends up in turmoil or misalignment at best, and someone has to go around the hill again because I got my motherly foot in the way.

blessings, nita

Well, that pesky flu bug doesn't need a passport to cross our borders.  Came for a visit here and even my SIL got sick.

Nice devotional, Pat.  Cute picture, Nita.

Colin, your poem did bring tears to my eyes.  I have recently finished reading a book that Wendy bought, Marley and Me.  It is about a goofy Lab who is the worlds 'worst' dog and I haven't laughed so hard in years.  Not written by a Christian, but a nice read.  For anyone who loves dogs, there is a site:
www.marleyandme.com and it shows pictures of this huge goody character.

Finally was able to get out of the house today and went to get my new glasses.  I think they will be of help and I can read better without the magnifying glass.  So glad of any help and will have them test my eyes for glasses in future, not my med. eye dr.  He has patients stacked up and standing in the waiting room all day and it is like a speed test rather than an eye test.....No better in Victoria, so no point in changing as almost impossible to get another dr.  I have never used an optometrist before....always medical dr.'s, but still have to use the medical one for my other eye troubles.  He is a nice dr., simply totally overworked.  I have to see him next week about eye pressure, so won't mention about the glasses :-X

Not much rain today, tho' lots due again for the rest of our week.  Flowers coming along in the garden and no more earthquake warnings.  So all is well with this small part of the world.

Small Smile:

Walking Out

"I hope you didn't take it personally, Reverend," an embarrassed woman said after a church service,
"when my husband walked out during your sermon."

"I did find it rather disconcerting," the preacher replied.

"It's not a reflection on you, sir," insisted the church goer.
"Ben has been walking in his sleep ever since he was a child."

                                   ;)

Prayed for the requests and will continue to do so.
Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

Liz

Some snow arrived again last evening and then off and on all day today.   Soon it will be gone and we will be into the summer season again.  The both of us went to work as usual then for the most just did a little of this and that all day.

Also I went back several months and re-read the posts. It is amazing what you can forget but it was enjoyable just the same. Sue have you got the sweater finished yet?

Mel has just come in from clearing the driveway and side walks to the house.

Have a great evening     Ruth

Hi, friends,

Colin, I, too, love dogs (and kitties). I understand the heartbreak in that mother dog's heart. You captured her despair so well.

Well, I have a praise for this evening. My best friend (who moved away to Indiana) failed a stress test and so they did a heart catharization on her today. Thank goodness there were no blockages.

Also, the surgeon has scheduled my right hand carpal tunnel surgery for Tuesday, March 27th.

Sarah, I really enjoy driving my little truck. This is the second truck I've had, and I like the flexibility of being able to haul things as well as the "snug inside" feeling of the smaller space in the cab of the truck.

Samantha, Larry, Jeannine, Ruth, Carol, Janet, Marilyn, Al, Nita, Liz, Ed, Samantha, Nards and Karma, I've read all your posts this evening. It's so good to fellowship here in CP.

Nards, I truly hope y'all get to feeling better soon, and same for your wife, Larry, and for you, Pat. Nita, I like your cute new photo!

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

Nita, I didn't recognize you!  Cute!  And what pretty blue eyes you have.  Good to have you back so we know you are here.  When you keep quiet, we can't "see" you.

Carol, was it you who asked if I feel less stressed now that Beth is in the home and I know she is being cared for?  Anyway, the answer is yes.  There are problems there, especially when they don't have enough help, but I know she isn't in danger there, that someone is always there if she calls---or yells, if she can't reach her call button.

It was a sad day today, saying goodbye to a friend of many years.  She was younger than I, and her two grandchildren are only about 8 and a baby.  Her poor husband looked so dejected, it was heartbreaking.  She waited on him hand and foot---he will be really lost without her.  Jo's death was sudden and totally unexpected; she just didn't wake up on Friday morning.  Most of our group was there, and we met for something to drink after the service to visit a bit.  The service was really nice, the young pastor seemed wise beyond his years.  One thing he said was that the pain we feel when parting with a person we love is a gift from God; because if we didn't have that pain, it would mean we hadn't had the joy of knowing them.  Jo was a person who was always joyful, and always doing for and giving to others.  We will miss her.

Ruth Ann, I hope your surgery goes well, with a really quick recovery, too.  I have that carpal tunnel problem in my right hand/wrist.  I developed it while doing the taping and sanding of the sheetrock when we built this house.  It still flares up when I over use it.

Marilyn, an anti-depressant may be exactly what your lady needs, and maybe also to be taken off some of the pills she is now taking.  I think doctors tend to over-medicate a lot of elderly folks.  I learned that about UTIs a while back, too.  Interesting.

Larry, I hope you get your computer and phone situation sorted out soon.  We like it when all our toys work properly.  ;)   :)

Hi there, Ruth!  Hope your snow melts quickly.  Ours is all gone now, except on the North side of things.

Liz, here our optometrists take care of eye pressures and all that sort of thing.  It's strange how different our medical system seems to be from Canada's.  I'm so glad you can see better to read now.  I think reading is one of the great joys of life, and something I hope to enjoy as long as I live.

Carol, how did the carotid scans come out?  Bet breakfast and coffee tasted particularly good today!

Hi, Ed!  Hello, Jeannine.  Hope your hubby improves day by day.

Liz, I liked your little smile.

Time to go, see you tomorrow.

Hi Friends.

I'm still here...  Trying to get better.  I had some tests today and will have more in a couple of days.

After my ultrasound test today, I picked Norm up and we drove to Hamilton (in the snowstorm) and went to see Judy (McKenna) who went through further hip surgery today.

We stayed till about 8 pm and then drove very carefully through the snow back home to guelph.

A BLOOD TEST

I sat in the surgery feeling so sick
A nurse was coming with a needle to give me a prick
Now roll up your sleeve and give me your arm
This won't hurt and will do you no harm

She came at me like a devil with a smile of a saint
The sight of that needle made me quite faint
She searched for a vein to stick it right in
Launched it like a lance right it into my skin

I closed my eyes as I felt it jag
And my foot flew out and kicked her on the leg
I could have reached up and give her neck a throttle
But I bore it without screaming until my blood filled a bottle

Now; said the nurse; I'll send it away for a test
Go home; for you look pale and have a wee rest
When I made it in through my door I went straight up to bed
And below the blankets these thoughts came into my head

They might find something wrong with the blood taken from me
But pure was the blood that was shed for me on a tree
Sin cleansing blood from the innocent One
The sacrificial Lamb and God's only Son

Blood with no impurity; deep crimson red
Staining Calvary Hill from my Saviour who bled
Blood offered for me; the purest and best
No fault in it the Father could test

And accepted by Him as an offering for my sin
As its cleansing power washed me from within
Jesus gave all of His blood and did not complain
The loss of its flowing was for my gain

Blood from me may test with faults and impure
The results I get will tell me for sure
But one thing I know; and of it; so confident I am
That my sins are blotted out by the blood of the Lamb

Morning all,

Janet ~ so sorry to hear of the passing of a friend. It is never easy for those who are left. Take care.

Good luck Pat on the tests, hope they come out ok.

Hi RuthAnn, Ruth, Larry, Al, Gord, Kevin, shutterbugmom, and all the rest. still reading and praying where needed and for the whole group here too.

Colin ~ I hate needles too. I have Houdini veins, now you see them, now you don't, just like Michael, or is he like me.  Whatever. I do love the poem though  <3

Hubby is still in the hospital making a slow progress to where they will discharge him, then the "fun" begins. Getting him to do anything that will help himself will be a whole new challenge in stress management for me. Thanks for the prayers!

Hope everyone has a God filled and blessed day!

Good Morning to one and all.

Lovely poem Colin, I am glad to see that  you went from having a blood test to  the blood of Jesus. Blood tests for me are always such a chore as I have only very small veins and like Jeannine now you see then then you don't. Then they are so thrilled to get some blood out me, at times not even enough to test and I have to go back again and subject myself to those needles.

It has been raining and sleeting here, The sleet woke me up tapping on my window. Now  here outside the window where I am sitting, there is the sound of the drop, drop, drop of the water/rain coming from the roof and hitting a wooden shelf bracket outside the window where there used to be a shelf. There are no gutters for the water to go into.

Yesterday I had my appointment to get my taxes done by the AARP tax program at the sea, the preparer asked me if he could take my paperwork  home and work on my taxes. So I will pick them up next Monday. It was going to take more time than my appointment time to do them since  I have a business. Good there is no rush and he can do a good job.

Ruth has a Dr. appointment this morning, I really need to talk with him about this new med they put her on over the weekend. She was so over medicated yesterday  I couldn't even keep her awake. The meds made her even more confused, unsteady on her feet, her speech was so slurred I couldn't understand what she was talking about Please pray that the doctor will listen to me and do something about it. I am only going to give her ½ a pill before we go so she will at least be able to walk (I hope)

Hi everyone.  I have a few minutes before leaving to do something.  I had another interesting morning.  When I got home from coffee my Internet was working and thus my phones.  I called the phone company to set up getting a regular local telephone line installed and the DSL service.  I was well into the order when my Internet connection went down again and it still is down.  I had to call back on my cellphone and you always get someone else.  However, he was able to find the order and give me the number.  The line will be installed on Friday but right now they have no capacity for additional DSL hookups in our neighborhood but will after May 8th.  So I will have to stay with Comcast Internet until then unless they get it installed sooner.  At least we won't be without a phone after Friday when the Comcast service decides not to work properly.

I have read all the postings.  Nita, I really liked your new picture.  You look like a much younger version of a dear friend of ours.  Good to see you posting.

Marilyn, do hope the doctor will adjust the medication.  That is no way to live.

Janet, be sure and enjoy your day.  Your schedule is always very full.  Enjoy the piano lesson.  It has been well over 55 years since my last piano lesson.

Colin, thanks for the new poem you shared.

Jeannine, glad your husband is making progress.

Time to go so will signoff.

Hi Ed....to tell you the truth..I was reading my Doggy poem over the phone to a friend in Scotland. I had not it fully written at the time and she said I hope there is going to be a happy ending to it....so of course I made the ending more sad! I read it later to her and she would have clouted me if she could have got near me. We lost Patch our Springer Spaniel a year ago as a result of getting hit with a car. Probably had him on my mind when I was writing the poem. We miss him.

Hi Jeannine...Houdini veins! I like that! Glad you like the poem....praying for you. Take care.

Hi Marilyn...glad you like the poem. Do you know what I dont like. it is the nurse putting sticking plaster over where she jags me and having to rip it off later. Worse than the jag itself! :'( Praying for you and Ruth.

Hi Janet....still playing the piano by ear...you really must do what the teacher tells you! Sorry about your friend. Take care.

Hi Larry...I like sharing my poems..glad you enjoy them. Have a good day.

Hi Nita....see you have been on the Spring water...years younger looking! Great pic.

Hi to everyone else.

Heh, everyone.

Thanks for the comments on my picture.  I think I know how to be younger.  Get silly. :)  And let the gray in your hair do its own thing.  Actually I took some silly pictures of me for my kids.  I'm never very silly, so it was just for fun.  My oldest daughter said she loved the sparkle in my eyes. :)  I posted it here because it just seemed the thing to do. lol

We have a dusting of snow here.  I'm not sure about downtown, but in my yard there is snow.  At the moment I see sunshine, so it will be gone soon.  I have to start my car to melt the ice on the windows.

Pat, I know I've missed a lot here.  What is your ultra sound for?

Jeanine, I know just what you mean about the stress level of trying to get your husband to take care of himself!  I remember Ron would get so angry at me when I tried to tell him not to take the prescription strength Iboprofen (however you spell that)on an empty stomach.  He did for years.  He'd take them with coffee too.  It was awful.  It finally took his life.  He said it was the only thing that stopped the pain.  I know, at the end, he didn't care if it killed him.  But...praise God....he came to Jesus in the hospital before he died. :)

By the way...I have great veins.  That's what they tell me when they take blood.  And I've been blessed with great blood takers, and tell them so. :)

Gotta run and try to find a parking place at the post office.  I need to mail a package for my sis.  I tried yesterday afternoon, and gave up.  Parking is terrible, and people line their cars up out into the street, waiting for the next spot.
Have a blessed day everyone.  Nita

Well I like your new picture too, Nita, but I really don't think the rain outside is so bad you should shoot yourself!

WET PANTS

Come with me to a third grade classroom..... There is a nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It's never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it.. When the girls find out, they'll never speak to him again as long as he lives.

The boy believes his heart is going to stop; he puts his head down and prays this prayer, "Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from
now I'm dead meat." He looks up from his prayer and here comes the teacher
with a look in her eyes that says he has been discovered.

As the teacher is walking toward him, a classmate named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled with water. Susie trips in front of the teacher and
inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy's lap.

The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, "Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!" Now all of a sudden, instead of being the object of
ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him downstairs and gives him gym shorts to put on while his pants dry out. All the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is wonderful. But as life would have it, the ridicule that should have been his has been transferred to someone else - Susie.

She tries to help, but they tell her to get out. You've done enough, you klutz! "
Finally, at the end of the day, as they are waiting for the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers, "You did that on purpose, didn't you?" Susie whispers
back, "I wet my pants once too."

May God help us see the opportunities that are always around us to do good.

Nita the picture you took of yourself is lovely!

The saga of the elevator has continued.  Most of the tenants from the 5th floor have moved out to another location.  We don't know if this is permanent.  There are only a couple of people left.  Not many for mother to talk to.  She feels like she is in jail, poor lady.  I wish I could "do" something for her but it is not possible at this moment for her to move here.

We are back into the deep freeze. -22°C for the last couple of days.  John was away for the last couple of days, and we had the luxury of sleeping in a bit today.

I was talking to a friend and we are about 2 feet short in the snow depth this year.  HE was saying he needs it for doing Maple syrup.  The sap will be running soon, not sure this year when to expect it.  This same friend is giving us a used snow maching to help bring the wood out of the bush.  HE says that there is no monetary value left in it, so we are getting it as a gift.  Thank you Lord!

I must go and finish up schooling the kids, will be back later.

Nita I have tried taking photos of myself in the past but did not like how they turned out.  Maybe I an do better now  with the digital and tripod. I just have to see how to  do the self timer thing,.

Ruth's doctor appt went very well. He took her off that other med and prescribed a different that  calms anxiety as well as helps with the confusion/dementia.

Sunny day today and not one raindrop fell on my head :)  Talk of snow tonight and Amanda is in Victoria until 10 PM at a Art lecture.  Hope she gets home okay, Wendy just mentioned how the temp. is dropping quickly.  Think that goundhog got a little confused this year!

Wendy and I went to try something new to us.  A Platinum Energy Foot Spa treatment that helps reduce toxins in the body.  It was most pleasant and I have not felt this relaxed in yrs.  Expensive tho' so I can't afford many treatments.  Wendy is going to try the Infrared Therapy Spa and I am going to try a Bio-Mat treatment, two weeks from now.  We are going to try things that might help as neither of us are doing too well in the pain dept.  It is a wellness clinic that works along with the acupuncture she has every week.  They may get an Infrared Spa if it helps her, as possible to use in the home with low power use and only small area needed.  Health products are helpful, but our bodies are both too damaged to continue without some serious help.

What does this latest attack on Christianity mean?  I am referring to the film that will be shown this Sunday on Discovery Channel, about 'The Jesus Tomb'.  We no sooner get over one attack than another one starts.  I plan to watch it in order to see how they twist truth this time!  But my heart is not the least bit troubled and can only pray that it doesn't weaken and destroy others, as Satan would so love to accomplish that goal.

Time to go.  Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

hello everyone!

nice picture nita!!  it makes me smile.

about the dog poem -- it was probably my van that hit the poor thing.  It seems to be an animal magnet lately.  In the past week I have finished off two 'possums and a cat (in my defense, bernard was driving when we hit the cat).  we tried to avoid them all, but 'possums are stoopid and that cat was fast.

i'm feeling kinda better, but still a bit "off."  Not sure what is going on with nards.  He works a lot, I know, but he has felt crummy for a long time now.  :(

I don't remember how many of ya'll remember my nephew Brooks.  He is the one that is two months older than Travis, and in the early days of CP, he had a serious illness (Kawasaki disease) and ya'll prayed for him.  On Tuesdays, we pick him up from pre-school, and he goes with Travis and Kristi to my mom's to play with them.  I have heard some of the cutest conversations coming from the back of the animal magnet.  Today's deserved to be preserved somehow, so here it is --

(This is Brooks, age 5, talking to my son, Travis, also 5)
Travis, if you find yourself walking on the devil's road, you have to turn around and walk on Jesus's road.  'Cause if you don't, and you keep walking on the devil's road, they throw you into the brimfire and you get burned.  And, they tie you up so you have to stay in the lake of fire forever.  You can't get out.

But, if you walk Jesus's road, you don't get tied up.  You go to heaven and play and stuff.  And fish.  You get to fish there.  And skip golden rocks.  And the rocks will skip all the way around and over the river, and they will skip as many times as you want them to.
(/end Brooks)

The skipping the golden rocks part cracked me up.  The kid is hilarious.

I'm going to run now.  Actually, running has nothing to do with it.  I'm getting ready to go to bed. :)

Hi all.  I will be brief today as shortly I have to head to Atlanta to have my pacemaker/defibulator checked.  This is just the routine check that is required every 3 months or so.  Fortunately it is another beuatiful day here.  Tomorrow it is suppose to be heavy rain.  Sure glad my appointment wasn't for tomorrow.

Today is the day they are finally suppose to try to fix the Comcast Internet problem.  Pat is staying home as someone has to be here.  Mind you I am confident the problem is somewhere else but if someone wasn't home when they call they will cancel the appointment.

Nothing else much new here.

Marilyn, glad to read the doctor had changed Ruth's medicine.

Good to see all the postings.  Liz, sure sorry to read of the continued pain problems for Wendy and yourself.

Pat, was sorry to read that Judy McK has had to have more surgery.  Hope you are feeling better day-by-day.

Hi Everyone...

I just have a minute.  Seems like the good old days with posts from both Karma and Nards in here.  Sorry you've both been under the weather.  that was such a great conversation between Travis and Brooks!!

I had a phone call from Norm a little while back and he wants to go down and see Judy in the hospital in Hamilton so I will go and get ready and we'll leave at 12 noon.

I just so enjoy reading all your posts.  And your poems Colin are just amazing.  Don't stop posting them.

I must go and get ready.

Love y'all!

Nita:    I like your picture and you have lovely blue eyes.
Judy:   It will be great when the elevator in your MIL apt. is repaired.
Pat:    Continue to get well - say hello to Judy M and also safe driving.

To everyone else have a great day and those that are not well get better soon.

Hello, gang :)  I'm feeling a good bit better today, still not quite at the top of my game.  Not even sure where the top of the game is, or maybe even where the GAME is!

Larry, I sure hope you get that Comcast mess straightened out.  We live with an aggravating Internet situation, too, and it's amazing how much we depend on it.

Janet, we had to have a new burglar alarm system installed here at work this week.  Someone had broken in last week.  They didn't seem to take a lot, though.  Most burglars seem to take the first thing of worth they see and run because a serious burglary takes a lot of work.

Hope all of you have a good day!

We had one day of nice weather so I was able to clean the oven, vacuum & spiff up the place.  Now iti is snowing once again although lightly - up to 20 plus in. in the high country so that will mean avalanche danger.

Nita:  Cute picture
Pat:  Sending angels (if I can) to be with you on your drives in this weather.  Sorry to hear about Judy once again - Enough!
Larry:  It sounds like you are getting everything you need fixed in your house - & good to have that heart appliance checked as well.
Ruth Ann:  So many people have that carpal tunnel surgery - I hope it does the trick for you.
Liz:  Would you believe that a visiting pastor ( a very quiet person) came to our house when we were much younger - I had to step out of the living room to care for one of the babies & came back to find Don sound asleep in his chair & the pastor quietly sitting there - it was embarassing to say the least.

It is the 4th. Wednesday of the month & on the 2nd. and the 4th. one is quilting at the church.  The roads are not too bad so I will go and help and giving thanks that I don't even need to take Aleve generic this week.

Hi  all y-all, I didn't get around to posting this morning that I can see. I thought I may have come in to say hello as I read all the posts. The sun has come out of a little bit so I have walked both dogs.

The new med the Dr. put Ruth on is Zyprexa. I do hope it helps her, Although right now until the drug gets into her system it is  sort of rough going for me. I am having to wash and dress her every morning. It is like caring for an adult size  toddler. I am going to speak to her son about hiring someone to work weekends so I can have  two days per week off.

Darrel and I got that system installed!  And we have several more to do.  It seems in the alarm business it it feast or famine.  (Nothing to do, and then lots to do, all at one time.)  Their system saved them recently, as someone did break in the back door; but they heard the keypad buzzing and apparently that scared them off.  Another customer (the one we are installing more cameras for) had people break in a door and they were stealing his stereo system out of his pickup.  Pretty stupid, because they were on camera, and also their wrecked car was there in the shop as well.  They said they only broke in to get their stuff out of their car.  Who ever said burglars were smart, though?

When we stopped by to see the kids, Abby was approaching the store, coming from school on her bike.  After greeting and hugging us, she went right to the time clock and clocked in---she's on the payroll now!  :)  Today, her job was pulling weeds under the benches in the greenhouse.

Nards and Karma, so good to hear from both of you.  Cute conversation from the 5 year olds!  And both of you---get well soon, please.

So sorry about Judy Mc.  Hope the trip to visit her went well, Pat, and that you are taking care of YOU.

And now it is time to go to church, so any further comments will have to wait.

Hi, friends,

The little white truck is "in hospital" - the transmission is slipping. :(
So, I'm fearful of driving between here and Atlanta, especially in the wintertime, with the potential of serious problems.

I, too, am really sorry that Judy McK has had to endure another surgery. Larry, hope all your day was a good one. Marilyn, sometimes (as I'm certain you ALREADY know) it takes a while to get the dosage established with this type medication.

I had to ask the doctor to intervene with my insurance coverage for they wouldn't let me fill two of his prescriptions. Now, it seems that they have them marked as pre-certified and so I picked one up at the Sam's Club Pharmacy today, and the other one should be in the mail in a few days.

I'm really thankful for the good messages I read in here. What a good group of friends!

Pat, do take care of yourself. Hope you're feeling better. JudyB, multi-generational problems are sometimes difficult to resolve. I'm sorta headed that way, so am trying to be a VERY good gal, and make good, sensible plans for the future.

Janet, my work is also feast or famine. So I understand that concept PERFECTLY! :)

Jane and Nita, it's so good to see y'all here. I understand about reading and then being a little "fly on the wall" and not writing, but you both know we love y'all and welcome all your posts. Same for Nards and Karma.

How I'd love to meet all of y'all in person!

By the way, if I didn't call your name, just attribute it to poor memory - please forgive me, and have a good rest of the evening, anyway.

I took Elizabeth skating today.  It is the first time on skates for her since she broke her leg in '01.  I also think it is the last time on skates.  She did not enjoy the time on the ice at all.

We have a new gizmo on the kitchen wall this week.  It measures hydro use and we can moniter what is using the power the most.  The girls have made it a game to see how low they can get the readings.  The lights are going "OFF"! !  Wish I had this monitor long time ago.

Oh good news!  Looks like March is going to come in like a lion here in the north.  It is unusual that the weather is so different from the south of Ontario.

Well it is late, and I am going to have a soak in the tub with some bubbles, then off to bed.

Night all

I am not looking forward to Saturday night at church.  They are losing money big-time and have paid a pastor from Denver to speak about giving.  We have been in the black for years and I have mentioned this newer pastor who was hired has not been keeping parishioners.  At the same time, the budget has been increased. They are having a dinner & pledging just at the time Don has been mentioning we should go and visit some other churches once in awhile.

Tied quilts at church yesterday & scraped the sidewalk there - these bones are aging too quickly. ???

JudyB:  A power monitor is a good idea and what a great learning experience for the children.  Tell Elizabeth that you know someone who learned to ice skate at the age of 28 - the neighbor girl ran to tell her mother that an old woman was skating really funny - I hope she tries again.

Marilyn:  That sounds like too much physical work for you.

Carol thank you for caring. I don't feel like it is too much physical work for me "yet". I'm sure there will come a time when it will be and I will have to stop working all together. I spoke to her son yesterday and he is going to work on a budget, he also has the authority to put her in a home. Whatever he decided is best for her that  will be what is done. I don't want to see her go into a home. That would be so heartbreaking for her. I am very protective of her.

Good
..Awesome Bible Study last night, breakthrough prayer time before and after. God is moving in  Abundant Life Center through the Womens' Ministry leaders. We are all leaders. It  just happens that every Wednesday night there are 11, 12 or 13 of us there, not always the same people come. God know's who will be there and ministers to those  He has chosen. I wish all you women could be there. No one wanted to leave.

Good morning everybody.

We have been having car problems, the CV joints on the right side of the van have caused a bad wabble.  John took the van to the mechanic this morning and found out we have to replace parts on both sides of the front of the van.  HE has gone to get parts and we will be up and running soon.  Our pastor, Dennis, set up an account at a local parts store for those who would like a discount on car/truck parts.  We get garage cost which is a big savings compared to the garage price.  Anything bought under the name "Unfinished Business" reseives the reduced price.  We alone have saved thousands of dollars in the 11 years this has been available.

Karma good to loose a headache.  I understand what that is like.  Hope Nards feels better soon.  I am praying.

Sarah I am praying about your back/sholder.

Marilyn Just take care not to over do it, and get some rest.  I get tired just reading what all you do!  Am praying for you sis.

Carol Elizabeth is a little timid when it comes to physical stuff.  We have tried Gymnastics, and swimming.  The timidity is there in all of it.  I am hoping to fulfill her desire to ride horses this summer.  That is a long way off the ground, and I wonder what she will think of that.  It is so interesting having one child with no fear, and another with a lot!  It makes for an interesting life.

Ruth Ann it is rough having vehicle troubles.  Especially when you are alone.  I have the advantage of having a pastor who is very mechanically minded.  He has kept our family motoring when John has been away.

Pat any update on Judy Mc?  How did surgery go?  Let her know we are all praying.

Well got to run, I have school to deal with
Love JudyB

Hi everyone.  I am hoping the Internet/phone problems are over.  New line was run from the box at the street to the house and it seems to have solved the problems.  I have decided to still switch services for both TV and Internet, although the Internet I want won't be available here until May 8th.  If Comcast would have provided responsive service I probably wouldn't have changed either one.

Like the situation with Nards and Karmat, it is raining off and on here today.  Earlier they said the whole state was under a tornado warning but we don't seem to be.  I purchased a new weather radio today.  One of the TV stations had partnered with Krogers to sell the weather radios for about half the normal price.  We have needed one and this was a good opportunity going into spring.

We are going out to dinner shortly with friends and then to their church for a concert with a large choir.  We are looking forward to it.  Tomorrow a friend from Maryland will be here to visit during the day.  We thought his wife would be coming but wasn't able to make the trip.  His son lives in Atlanta so we see them occasionally.

I don't have time to write individual comments this evening but have read all the postings.

Good evening.  I'm late getting here today, but nothing noteworthy has been happening around my neck of the woods, anyway.  We had about an inch of pretty, fluffy snow last night, which melted off rather quickly.

I have read all the posts, prayed where needed or requested, laughed at the proper times (I hope!) and enjoyed reading what all of you have been up to lately.

I'm rather tired this evening, so I'm going to watch the news a bit before dinner.  I think Darrel is frying a chicken!  :)

Janet Fried Chicken sounds good. I haven't had fried Chicken in quite awhile. I did eat some Mar Far Chicken at the Chinese Restaurant Tuesday, that was deep fried. But good ole sounther friedn chicken would be so tasty right now.

Not much new here either, I will go  prepare Ruth's dinner  shortly then home to  fix mine. I Have stuff in the freezer to fix for myself. Maybe a salad and some  Tuna Casserole.

JudyB has your pkg arrived yet?

Stopping in to see if Janet is alright - Kansas had storms today, I believe.  What a terrible day for those in midst of the storms.

Marilyn:  Glad that you enjoy your Bible Study group.

Sarah:  Prayers for your sister and nephew.  You are too young to be having shoulder pains.

Nards:  It is kind of you to put the van under cover for karma.

Judy B:  Isn't it funny that children so close have such different personalities?  Nice that your pastor can tinker with you vehicles as well - he sounds like a practical person.

We had chicken noodle soup and a beet salad along with a toasted slice of cinnamon burst bread that was sweet enough for dessert.  There will be one more meal out of that soup.

That sounded real good, Carol.  Everyone is having a yummy dinner.  I am still not over the virus, so had boiled egg and toast, with tea.  As dull as my life at the moment!  I saw a picture of a 78 yr. old fellow in today's paper, training for some marvelous athletic contest and read the article about all the fantastic things seniors are doing.... :(  I do a one hr. walk and think that is pretty good. ::)

Sarah, I have also prayed for your requests and will continue to do so.  Hope you are enjoying your new truck.

Thanks for the e-mail Marilyn.  It was real .... not like the so-called 'Secret' that was plugged on Oprah the other day and is now the latest big money maker.

How terrible about the weather and all the damage to lives.  It is so peaceful here on the island and we are so fortunate.

Read a little blurb about the lion and lamb connection to March;

An interesting note is that some skywatchers believe that the lion
and lamb saying has a heavenly connection. The constellation Leo, the
lion, is rising in the east at the beginning of March, hence the
"comes in like a lion," while Aries, the ram, sets in the west at
the end of March, and so "will go out like a lamb."

Well...I thought it was an interesting note! :)

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

Good evening, everyone.

I've spent most of the day trying to get two computers connected to the same dsl connection.  Verizon said I needed a "gateway", so I ordered that and a usb adapter from them.  I tried, but couldn't get the config right to connect I guess.  Then someone said I didn't need my dsl modem now, so 'could connect the wired computer(mine)directly to the gateway, which is the modem/router.  So I did.  Still not working upstairs.  Then someone said I needed a wireless NIC for the upstairs computer.  I ordered from Newegg today.  Then I read I don't need that if I have the USB connecter, which I do.

Isn't this fun??  It's just as confusing to me as it sounds when I type it out.

Marilyn, you don't need a tripod to get a picture of yourself.  Just get the camera in really strange positions, like at the top of your head, or some way you'd never think of doing, and click away.  That's what I did to get some ones that my family really likes. haha

Some have commented on my blue eyes.  Actually they're light green, but just look blue in the picture.

Jane, I do like the rain, as you know. :)  I guess I don't get bored, rather have to look for things to do inside.  How are you waaay over there?
It's hard to remember being silly.  I know joyful, but silly?  Us? :)

Karmat, kid conversations can be so cute.  I loved your evesdropping story.  So cute.  Did I ever tell anyone that my grandaughter, Angel, had Kawasaki when she was around 3 or so?  I guess Jane knew, but don't know if anyone here knew.  I guess it's not a common childhood disease. :o   She was like a round pumpkin from the Prednisone.  Her skin read and peeling, she itched all over and was as grumpy as a bear.  But she came out of it with no heart damage that they know.  Praise God.

Heh, Nards.  How u b?

Marilyn, I can tell how you care for Ruth just by how much you talk about her. :)  When my sis, Sue, comes home, she talks about her couple all the time.  She really, genuinely cares for them.  It's like talking about family now. Caregivers are special people.

I was ready to put on my jamies and head to bed, but wanted to check in here first.

I thought there might be another dead dog poem from Colin. ;)

Goodnight all, God bless you. Nita

Nita, I didn't realize she had had kawasaki.  It is a scary disease, and I don't think it is too common.  One of the tricky parts is that you have to do a bunch of other tests to rule out different things with the same symptoms before they test and treat for kawasaki.  unfortunately, if you wait too long to treat it can do some major damage.  it can cause aneurisms (spelling?) throughout the cardiovascular system that are lifelong.  My sister-in-law was very aggressive in seeking treatment, so they treated Brooks early.  His initial reports were minor heart damage, then minimal damage, then they could find no damage.  I think he still has to see a cardiologist every year or so, just to make sure, but I could be mistaken.  Apparently, there is a correlation between professional carpet cleaning and toddlers (who play in the floor a lot) getting kawasaki.

It is a bright and sunny day today, definitely not what the weatherman was expecting.

Did ya'll hear about the bus wreck in Atlanta?  Apparently it drove off of a bridge and onto I-75.  I haven't seen teh details yet.

Take care, and be good today.

Hi everyone.  After a really stormy day and night in Georgia it is a glorious day here.  We had some terrible tornados to the South of us in Americus, which is close to where Jimmy Carter has his home.  The hospital was destroyed and a number of people were killed.  We have also had a terrible bus accident in Atlanta where a charter bus carrying a college baseball team from Ohio went over the side of an overpass and fell onto Interstate 75.  There were a number of fatalities and a lot of injuries.  Hopefully that is the bad news from this area for awhile.  Fortunately we just had rain in our area.

We had a wonderful time last night.  After a very enjoyable dinner out with friends we all went to this concert at their church.  In Georgia there is a men's and a women's choral group (and an instrumental group) composed mainly of music directors and instrumentalists from Southern Baptist Churhes.  There were somewhere between 200 and probably 250 singers, an orchestra, a beautiful grand piano and they had brought in a hugh new Allen Electronic Organ for the 2 hour concert.  The music they sang was glorious and they could really turn it on in the loud places.  They finished the program with Bach's Worthy Is The Lamb and Amen from the Messiah.

Today my friend from Maryland will be here to visit for several hours and I am looking forward to his visit.  This evening I expect I will be picking up our daughter to spend the weekend with us.

Nita, I am having trouble with my wireless system now as my laptop can't seem to find it to lock onto.  I am hoping I can get it fixed soon.  I would think your upstairs computer would have to have some type of wireless card if you are not able to have an ethernet direct wired connection.

Janet, my wife very rarely fries anything anymore although occasionally she will get some fried chicken from Krogers.  I always take the skin off so hopefully not getting too much of the fat.  I remember growing up we had lots of fresh fried chicken.

Liz:  I always thought the Lamb and the Lion were only related to March weather.  Interesting.

Larry:  That is very sad news about the storms and the bus crash.  It sounds like a terrible day for so many.

We had hurricane strength winds last night - this happens too often especially at this time of the year.  Our relatives and friends in Minnesota are getting socked now with a blizzard - back to back blizzards.  We just went through that not long ago.

Colin:  Hello.  How is your weather?

Well we have had a little that the south had.  We saw pictures of Toronto and Hamilton and they were really hit hard with the weather.  We got snow, but not as debilitating as some had.  As is normal the power went out, and all the clocks were flashing today.  Pat how are you doing today?  I hope you have no plans to go out.  At least not till the roads are clear.

WE are not long up.  John went to get the car finished.   The supply house for the parts made a mistake, and ordered the wrong parts.  As a result he had to leave early and redo the trip into the city.  I haven't heard that the job is done yet.

In January one of our sister churches had a fire and the main part of the church burned down.  About 2 weeks later 2 cabins for the camp affiliated with our church burned down as well.  The final result was kids playing around.  John will get to see the damage done this Monday and Tuesday.  HE has the final part of a course to go to.

Several weeks ago I mentioned that there was a man who had a brain tumor that was inoperable.  This man went back to the doctor and had another scan to find out how much this tumor had grown.  Amazingly there was no sign of any tumor, even having been there!  Don't we serve an awesome God?

Well have to run
God Bless
Judy

Larry, you can't know what you're doing to me when you describe that concert at the other church!  I am stirred to the depths just thinking about the Bach and Handel numbers.  THAT'S music!  Oh the symetry, the order, the sheer beauty of such soul-stirring music!  i could almost hear it in your description.  I would indeed travel a long way to hear such things!  They far exceed modern chorus singing, though I thank Him when even that is done in a worshipful manner.  But oh the GREAT music of the past, and especially from those authors!

I could use prayers and encouragement today.

Beth called, crying, to tell me that John has told her "it's over."  He has been acting really strange for some time, arguing with all the people in their Neufibromatosis Chat Room, getting angry if Beth doesn't jump to his defense, no matter what he is arguing about, etc.  Beth is not only upset because she wants to keep the friendship, but also because she is concerned that John may have a brain tumor.  Those are common in people with NF, and his mother had one that led to her death.

I tried to encourage her, and she has decided to call John's sister and ask her if they have noticed John's behavior becoming strange and argumentative lately.  I also told her that the first warm day, I will come and take her out for the day, maybe to another town to eat out and do a little shopping.  They do need to get out occasionally, but the weather just hasn't been conducive to that lately.  When they are in an institution  like that, their worlds seem to rapidly shrink to those four walls, especially if they don't get out some, and have people coming to visit.  Sigh........

The fried chicken was good!  :)  We know that's a NO-NO, but once in a great while Darrel gets hungry for it, so last night was the time.  We rarely fry things any more, either, have cut way down on salt, are eating more fruits and veggies, etc.  Anyway, we are trying to do things right!

I had other things to say, but before I started to type, the phone rang, and you already know "the rest of the story."  So I will get on about my day.  I had a really short night, was awake from 12:30 until about 4:00 AM. :P  Not a good day to have added stress.  :-\

Definitely hated to hear of the tragedies in Alabama and Atlanta.  I pray that the survivors will look to God.

I hope you all have a good day.  I'm feeling as well today as I have in a long time.  I really hope it continues :)  Thanks for your prayers.

Back to work!  :)

Taking a break - I have been cutting fabric to make a binding (the edge) for a table runner.  Don is taking a nap.

Marilyn:  Sure do remember Pinkie - I'll check.

Janet:  That is very strange behavior from Beth's friend.  Either he is having a stressful time handling something in his life or health problems as she thinks.

Am missing our long chats with cousins and friends in Arizona this year.  We have been miffed over the high rental fees - because we would spend so much time fixing things for the seniors who would rent things out & they do not know how to fix things.  Well, now we have had one of the worst winters in years here.

Will check back later.

Marilyn no parcel yet.

It is late, and John is not home tonight.  He works part time plowing snow and tonight he is cleaning up the roads.

Pat how are you making out with the snow you got?  Do you need shoveling done?  Up here we had a snow day from the schools today.  It was a nice break for the school kids.

Well it is late and I am off to bed,

God bless and NN

Hi everyone.  I will be first in today.  I slept well last evening until about 2:30 when I awoke and my mind went into gear and I wasn't able to go back to sleep.  I laid there until 4:30 and decided to get up and get busy.

We had a very nice visit yesterday with our friend from Maryland.  He was here about 5 hours and we talked non-stop.  While he was here the telephone man came and installed the new telephone line and said he was enabling the DSL connection that I had been told wouldn't be available until May 9th.  In a few minutes he had that done as only had to hook up some wires on the outside of the house.  He told me the DSL modem might come even yesterday afternoon and sure enough about 3 pm the Fed Ex man delivered it.  So now I am all set to switch over to DSL.  I will probably do so today.  Yesterday I downloaded and saved the files I had on the old server since I will soon lose access to them.  I particularly didn't want to lose my family reunion home page.

Last evening I picked up our daughter at 7:30 and she is spending the weekend with us and will be attending church with us tomorrow, which is so nice.  The way God works in our lives when we surrender to him is truly amazing.  I stand in awe.

Carol, I sure wouldn't want to have hurricane strength winds as it might blow down my house.  You all have had a very tough winter.  I expect my sister in Northern Iowa got socked again with a lot of snow as well as my granddaughter in upper New York state.  We had very pleasant weather here yesterday and should have it again today but tomorrow we expect it to be cooler but still above freezing even at night.

JudyB, it truly is amazing how often we order something and they dont' get the right parts.  Eventually it was will work out but just creates a lot more work and effort for everyone.  Hope John had success getting the right parts yesterday.  Glad you all didn't get buried in snow although know you all are used to it.

Al, we are fortunate in our church to have a choir director who believes in the tradional music.  She commented Wednesday night about a state contest for middle schoolers in music she had participated in the previous weekend and that they had used a lot of glorious religious classical music.  In just telling us about it she got tears in her eyes as it had been such a moving experience.

Janet, I am sorry to read of the distress Beth is experiencing and know that as a parent we also are affected.  I hope her call to John's sister will help her understand what is going on.  If this behavior is contrary to the norm it could easily be related to some health issue.  We can't fix someone else's problems but we can always be willing to listen and often that is a very big help.

Nards, hope you and your family are feeling more chipper.  It is nice to see you posting more often.

Marilyn, I will check out the prayer request you have posted for Pinkie.  I do remember her.

Well I hope to get a lot accomplished today since I am getting the early start.  Hope this turns out to be a nice day for each of you.

Good Morning I usually go work out on Saturday morning but I am not going today. I have a heavy feeling in my abdomen that I am dealing with, hoping it is just gas.

Ruth's neighbor called already, Ruth is  over there telling them she is scared. I spoke with Ruth and she does this on the weekends to try to get her son to come. He already told her he cannot come every weekend. I told her I will be there when I am supposed to be there.

Not much is new here, the sun is shining today. Praise the Lord. I haven't heard back from Gilbert if he is going to let the kids come to stay the night tonight. Knowing him he will call at the very last minute and tell me to come get them.

Sorry that I am sounding so pessimistic this morning it is one of those days

Marilyn, it's okay.  We all have those days sometimes.

Trav had a basketball game this morning.  His little team is really starting to figure it out.  Today, the team they were playing would steal the ball if anyone player held on to it too long.  So, rather than just driving and shooting like they have been doing, they figured out that when the other team 'swarmed' them, they could throw it to an open player under the basket and their team would score.  That was cute (and impressive) to watch.  They are starting to figure out the "team" aspect of it now.  Remember, these are 4, 5, and 6 year olds, so the whole concept of "team" is new to them.  Travis has also learned 5 or 6 Bible verses during the season (he gets a new one each week) and they have devotions at halftime.  The teams go out and have team devotions, and a preacher or teacher will give a quick salvation-oriented devotion to the "fans."

I've got to go to a baby shower here in a few minutes.  I'm taking Kristi with me, but hopefully Bernard will be home in time to stay with Travis.  Then, hopefully, a few minutes this evening to spend as a family.  Seems there is a lot to do these days.  I think I'm about ready to move to a mountaintop and become self-sufficient.  Except I have a black thumb, so we'll probably starve to death.  :)

Take care.

Oh, when will Etta be back?

Karmat - that's so cool about Travis!  He's learning concepts that will carry over so well into everyday life.  "Team" play is one of the most important concepts of all, and it is so often not learned by adults.  And the importance of strategizing to score the right goals in life.  And the idea of having a man for each function.  All kinds of good stuff!  God bless!

Hi, friends,

I had to work today, so am in, now, and ready to relax for awhile.

I have news of Theresa. You remember that we've been praying that she would, essentially, arise from almost dead, and that the family will come to know our Lord.

Thursday night when the fqamily left the hospital, they had very heavy hearts, for the decision was to be made to turn off the machines yesterday.

When they arrived at the hospital, she was tremendously better, is continuing to improve, and, while the original statement was made that most likely she would lose all her fingers and her feet, the latest assessment is that she may have to lose the tips of some of her fingers, but NOT her feet.

We may be seeing a healing stright from God Himself.

So, let's keep praying for Theresa, and that the family will, indeed, turn to God through witnessing this recovery.

My grands are coming to spend the night Gilbert called about an hour ago but idonotknow what time they would get here.

I have been trying to find out what the memory verse is for tomorrow for Savannah's class. The pastor's daughter is in the class but she didn't know. I called the teacher and she will call me back this evening.

I lost a graphics file for my stationery's  yesterday and have been blessed that someone in my group had saved a whole bunch of me stationery's, I have almost all of them back now and saved them to a CD.

This has been a quiet day.  We didn't get a lot done but instead it was peaceful.

On TV tonight is the movie "The Diary of Anne Frank"  I remember well reading and rereading the book.  It is such a touching story of a young girl's life in hiding.  I am going to see if Coles has the book in stock and pick up a couple of copies.  One for Melaura and one for my own library.

The dogs are funny.  We let them out for about an hour sometimes more if they are playing.  When they come in they each head to their own cage to settle for the night.  Tonight they both decided that they wanted to go into the opposite cage to what is normal for them.  Took a bit to get them sorted out and they appeared to be laughing at me as I coaxed them into their own bed.  Silly animals.

Well it is getting late.  I want to turn in early.  John is off again plowing, but he won't be putting in a full shift.

Night all and God bless you tomorrow as we worship our Lord together in separate places.

We are just home from Amarillo, Texas (400 mile RT) but I wanted to pop in and say hello.  We went to visit Darrel's Mom and pick up her papers so he can do her income taxes.  She had a cold and wasn't feeling well at all.  But she's doing really well for a 94 year old---doesn't even use a cane to walk or anything, still lives in her own apartment, in an independent living arrangement for seniors.

We took Abby with us and enjoyed spending the day with her.  And she and I got to shop a little bit, too.  On the way down, she and I and Darrel had a good visit about our piano lessons and progress.  She's so proud to be way ahead of Grandma!  ;)

Beth is back to a more even keel now.  John has apologized and says he still loves her.  But she's still concerned about his health and was planning to call his sister.  I hope someone can persuade him to go get checked out; I doubt the man has had a physical in many years.

Ruth Ann, what good news about Theresa!  God is so good........prayers continue for her and her family to come to a saving knowledge of the Lord.

Marilyn, thanks for the prayers.  Enjoy your grands and have a much better day tomorrow!

Hi, JudyB.  How are all your two and four-legged kids doing?  ;) ^-^

I think it's time to lay my weary body down.  See you tomorrow!

We went to Saturday night church service and the sermon was by a pastor from the synod office - actually, I had been his temporary secretary for a short time years ago.  It was time for a yearly pledge and we all brought our written pledges up to the altar then went back to the kitchen area for a gathering and meal.  I don't think Lutherans can gather without eating.  ;)

News that a neighbor had surgery for a lump in her breast & it was cancerous but the great news is that the surgery got it all - she will still have radiation treatments.  Our newest pastor is recuperating from a car crash on the freeway - in an ice fog, he drove into an accident with a semi truck & other car & is now in ankle cast up to his thigh plus ribs were broken & slighter hand injuries.  He can't drive for the next 8 weeks. We are gathering kitchen items and also have six quilts to send on a truck to the Navajo nation soon.  I hope some other churches will have more quilts - am sure there will be more as they load a semi truck in the city here and head for a different reservations year-round.

Good Sunday to all, Carol

Hi everyone.  I got my DSL connection working but my router seems to be out of commission as I can't get my other computers on my own network.  I was on the phone with my son well over an hour yesterday and we basically concluded my router must be bad.  It isn't very old.  Am trying to upgrade the firmware in it but not sure how to do it.  This is becoming very complicated or my brain is slowing down.

We have another pretty but chilly day here.  We are not going to Sunday School but will leave for church is about 15 minutes.  Guess we will both have to drive this morning as Pat and our daughter don't seem to be moving very quickly today.  They will come a little later.

Ruth Ann, that is indeed good news on your friend.  This makes several instances where we can see the hand of God intervening that I have heard about in the last couple of weeks including tumors suddenly no longer being there.

Carol, sorry to hear about the accident that your pastor experienced.  Driving on snowy and icy roads can be very dangerous.  Of course, driving on any roads can also be dangerous.

Janet, glad to hear that Beth and John are on better terms.  He must have just been having a bad day.  Too bad he decided to make her day very unpleasant as well.  Glad you had a good trip and that Abby was able to go with you.  Keep working on those piano lessons--it just takes practice.

JudyB, been a long time since I saw that movie and don't know that I have ever read the book.

Marilyn, it sounds like things worked out well with your grandchildren and getting back your files.  Hope you are feeling better today.

Karmat, it is a lot of fun to watch the development of the little ones.  It has been many years since we went through that with our children.  I remember putting a basketball goal over our garage in the 70s.  That was a mistake as everytime the ball hit the backboard it echoed through the house.

About time to leave for church.

The grand-kids didn't get to come last night, it was after 8:30 when Gilbert called me back. The kids were tired and cranky and kept telling him that he didn't call me back. Well he didn't because I called and left a message on their answering machine on Friday. He called yesterday as I said in an earlier post. Now I don't know when they will be able to come, they have a swim meet next weekend on both days.

Today is the last of a series of three messages on  tithing and giving. Pastor Danny is going to hand out little booklets on the subject after church. This has been such a good series.  I know that some Pastors do not like to preach money sermons.  Danny's whole theme is there are 3 ways of giving called the 3 T's. Time, Treasures and Talents.

One Sunday he had a treasure chest by the altar and we  were asked to put some of our treasures in there.  Some gave cash, or a pledge of some work to be done at the church, one  couple gave a car and there was a check for $10,000. given. Other gave commitments to give to some of the other things, like world missions, teen challenge etc. A set of expensive chrome tire rims were given to be sold on EBay.

I am baaaack!!  After 6 luscious beautiful warm days in Florida, I am back....to snow!  Yep!  As soon as we crossed the Indiana State Line, it was snowing.

We left in fog that got us about 2½ hours behind.  I was planning on staying a little south of Mongomery, AL, but they put me on hold and wouldn't come back on the line.  I called again and it was busy...they were holding for me.  So I called a motel in Dothan, AL, and got a room.  But that I had drove over 700 miles and almost 11pm when we stopped.  We got to Kaye Don and Barb's before dark the next night.

We saw the Manatee's.  We went to Jungle Gardens in Sarasota.  It was windy on the beach.  It was very interesting at Desota National Memorial and Selby Botanical Gardens was fabulous.  Of course, lots of great shopping and eating.  Sunny and warm every day.

We left Bradenton with clouds and it started raining when we got near Macon, GA.  Also that was when the interstate turned into a parking lot!  We saw 6 accidents going through Atlanta, GA.  We stayed in Carterville, GA.

Then we headed north on I-75 in wonderful sunshine.  After another parking lot in Cincinnati, we spent the night at Jo's house, Ivalou's daughters.  Edie had a baby boy, Feb 22, so Ivalou and I had to see Adrian Carter before coming home.  He's a keeper!

And guess what?  We woke to SNOW yesterday morning and drove home in snow flurries.

Ali and Inky were indifferent to me at first but then warmed up to me later.  Ali on the back of the couch and Inky in my lap while watching TV made me realize I was home again!

I have read most of the posts.  I laughed, sighed, prayed, cried and agreed.  But I am not feeling well today.  I went to church but only stayed for one service.  All I will say is I took some medicine that has 'lax' in the name.  Hard for me to sit and my legs are hurting.  Hope to have relief soon!  TMI  ::)

Title: Re: Thoughts for the Week of Feb. 25

We have a lovely sunny day although a little cold.

Judy B:  What kind of hydro thingy has been installed.  We are to get a new meter outside but  nothing inside.
Janet:  I hope that Beth is feeling better soon.
Pat:  Please give my get well wishes to Judy M.

Dinner this evening is going to be beef soup: Great for a winter day.

For those on some kind of diet here is something I read:

My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other guests.     Orsen Welles

More thoughts for today:

Without God's love for YOU & ME, The days of the week would be:

Mournday,Tearsday, Wasteday, Thirstday, Fightday, Shatterday & Sadday. Give God the Glory Who made the days a Blessing to US! Have a strong conviction that it shall be well with you this year, I am of the opinion that no matter how many obstacles you come across this year you will succeed. You have been destined to make it and you shall surely achieve all your goals this year.  God Bless You. Go on and praise Him . . . Get your praise on!

Let GOD be the center of your life this year, talk to Him more each day. Let Him direct your path. Spend more time in His word

Judy, I remember reading The Diary of Anne Frank while still in school; and have reread it and seen the movie since that time as well.  It made a strong impression on my then 13 year old (or so) mind.

Our church is gearing up toward our Women's conference, coming next month.  We are having Rebecca St. James in concert to kick off the meeting.  Some have been asking "How in the world did you get HER to come to such a small town?"  God can do what man cannot do!  :)

I filled out all the forms to renew Beth's Medicaid and SS Disability, sent them off, and they came back yesterday, wanting more information, statement from her doctor, financial records, etc.  I hope we don't have to do this every year.  :-\  I have everything now (I think) except for the statement from her doctor.

So much to do.........so little time.  It feels as if my life follows this pattern.  I would like to break it, but how?  I'm really praying about this.

Nice to read all your posts today.  I'm missing Colin and several others.  Hey, guys and gals----come on back and talk to us!!  Please?  <3

Hi, friends,

Etta Sue, welcome home! We've missed you.

Janet, I agree, we're missing others of our group, too. Y'all come on back - we care.

I had a bit of tummy upset this afternoon. Needed to work, but was chilling and so ended up spending the afternoon and evening in bed. Seem to feel much better now, thank goodness.

Y'all have a good evening.
